Reviews of Burntstump Country Park

Oh my gosh this place is absolutely amazing for walking your doggies! Don't let the mucky sign fool you, this place is a gem! There's a big green field just off the car park (which is free 🥳). This is perfect for my doggies, because, I don't know about you guys, but they have to blow off some steam initially. Then you'll see around the greens there are trails for the woodlands. There is a small pond which has been fenced of with low wire fence. The whole area is somewhat secure there is fencing all around, however at places it has fallen down. Nonetheless the trails are a fair distance from the edge so it's not an issue. The doggies can go off the lead which is another bonus, no horses that we saw of, didn't even see horse tracks and no livestock either. There are toilets in the Caffe/restaurant and food as well. I did not try the food so cannot really comment on that. We will be coming back here. Lovely stress free walk...bliss 🥰

Perfect for walking the dog. Wooded areas and a big open plain for dogs to explore. Seems to be a very popular place for dog walkers
H. C. M.
Nice peaceful quiet place for a walk or stroll on the paths or through the forests which is nice & really green , there is also 2 hours free parking in the car park,
P. H.
Always a lovely peaceful place to go not a big park but nice walks amongst some lovely trees
R. S.
Came here for a family Sunday lunch to celebrate our parents Diamond anniversary but those of us (3) who ordered the roast beef and half chicken meals found the meat very tough and the stuffing balls were so hard you could hardly cut through them.
The other 3 whom ordered from the other menu all enjoyed their meal.
Just such a shame about the Sunday meals.
But the staff were all very professional and friendly.
Could do with more bar staff on.
If not for the friendly staff it would of been 2 stars.

Nice for a dog walk but not much to do for young kids unless they like walking amongst a lot of dogs and having a picnic. Substantial parking, which didn't charge when we visited, but looks like it will in time.
P. M.
Actually got some nice walks here through the woodlands- not the most scenic of places other than that and a few less than friendly people, however if you live close by it’s good to quickly take the dog out for a change of scenery!

Really nice place to walk and let your dog have a really good run nice wood two free car parks plus really clean public toilets cleaner than the supermarkets. Can get busy at times but people and dogs are friendly. Well worth a visit.😁
A. B.
Lovely place for a walk for both adults and children. Not really suitable for wheelchair access around the park but beautiful places to sit on the open field. Great for dog walks, exploring with young children, stick dens around the park make for a bit of fun too!
C. T.
Brilliant open grass and wooded area for dogs to explore plus a lovely big outside area to have something to eat and drink with the dogs ☺ there's also a section of the pub that you can take dogs in when you have a meal etc. They all know my puppy!
R. H.
It's has woodland walks and a huge open grass area and a reasonable size duck pond. Today as the heat is too much for the dog it was nice to walk him for a short walk through the woods which were nice and cool. There is also a pub there for food and drinks
P. C.
Nice little park area. Relaxed feel, lots of dogs off lead, easy make an 1hr walk.
Pub onsite is a chain, good selection of beers, good outside seating area.
Food is average, 2 for 1 but tbf it would be all I would be prepared to pay. Allegedly £16 burger , would have been hacked off at that, at £8 it was ok .
K. L.
This place isn't massive, but it's big enough to give a dog a good walk. Kids can enjoy the woods or open spaces, but not a lot to do beyond that. The pub on site has a climbing frame that may keep them entertained for a few minutes. Reasonable food and drinks.

Today was the worst meal we’ve had in the last 6 weeks evening are better for food
S. D. m.
Love this park go most days with my dogs as they love it too. Lovely woods and grass area.
Just the duck pond could do with a spruce up but still nice to see the ducks x
R. E.
Nice circular wooded walk around a cricket pitch and picnic area great for a family day out or wander with your dog. The Burnt Oak pub is on one edge of the park. Not great in terms of accessibility for wheelchairs. Great if you are fit-ish and have a car.
J. O.
On 19th October we collected plenty of Sweet Chestnuts fallen from the massive fenced off tree on the path from the pond. The Beech trees on the higher path towards the rugby club are spectacular 🌳💚
M. L.
Great for dog walking and a good family day out!
B. S.
A nice little park. Free parking for 2 hours on normal weekdays, toilets, a very convenient pub that serves nice food. The proximity to notts police HQ also keeps doggers away at night however it does get busy on a nice day and last time I was there there were people riding motorcycles in the park where lots of people were trying to enjoy a nice warm summer afternoon. It would be nice if this issue could be dealt with as it's very antisocial. That said it's not the norm.
R. M.
Really nice lots of trees to climb and the lovely pub as well
H. W.
Great public park, big open areas to play football/sports and nice woodland walks with blackberries to pick.
Only reason it's four stars is I like little attractions (wooden statues, birdhouses etc) which there aren't really any of on the trails, but it's a great place to take the family, significant other, or pretty much anyone.
C. C.
Nice little park, a pathway takes you to a medium sized pond with a few ducks. Large open fields surrounded by trees and bushes. Lots of dens can be seen made in the woods
S. M.
It was a lovely afternoon. The weather was glorious and during this difficult time whilst lock down begins to ease the public were continuing to social distance. As the park was getting busier but all adhering to the rules.
J. M.
We go here quite often with both small and large parties and it's always incredible. The walk is wonderful for the dogs and the food is always really good. Would definitely recommend here!
M. B.
Really lovely place, Idea for circular walk from car park and back through a lovely forest, this is what I observed from my 1st venue there 😃 I think there's much more to explore 😁
R. L.
Absolute shame on the proprietors of the pub that the play park and forestry area in close proximity is littered with broken glass and shards of broken plastic cups. Unsafe. The park area owned by the council is a beautiful spot to visit and relax
P. H.
Well what a disappointment waited 45 mins for dinner to come then when got it it was luke warm not enjoyed at all and don't think it was worth the price have been in the past and was lovley really enjoyed it but today nope ps the staff was well polite
J. P.
The woods are lovely to walk through whatever the weather. Also a large open space for a good run, cricket pitch, toilets, the Burntstump pub for coffee and meals free parking near the pub.
L. A.
Always loved this pub be glad when we are allowed inside . Would have gave 5 stars but service really slow but they did apologise so they did there best.

The Burnt Stump
First visit for me and was well surprised. There is ample car parking at the location.
The venue itself is a Marstons run public house. Unfortunately the day I visited they must have been short staffed so waiting times at the bar were extended. This though did not spoil the visit.
Food that was ordered was well prepared and truly enjoyed.
The grounds of the pub are quite extensive with a cricket pitch out the back with beer garden. Kids play area and plenty off walking routes into the woods.
Overall a decent afternoon was spent at the Burnt stump...

This is a nice place to eat. Plenty of choice of food. Lovely walk around the place. Popular in summer months for families etc. Nice place to get away from it all for while
G. G.
Lovely scenic place with picnic tables and lots of areas to sit on the grass. Definitely need to make time to explore more 😁
T. W.
Lovely place for dinning and also picnics and dog friendly. Not to far to travel. All meals reasonable prices. Can also eat in or outdoors.
C. B.
Just a lovely Park with great little forest around the perimeter, idyllic and serene, a nice walk for both family and dogs, and a pub at the start, or the end whichever way you look at it
J. W.
Small park centered on a cricket pitch, and thr burnt stump pub, surrounded by woodland with paths through it, there is a small duck pomd too, popular with dog walkers
E. J.
Hidden gem of a country park. Great for walks in the woods or to watch Ravenshead Cricket Club. Ample parking with two car parks. Facilities could do with an upgrade,.
D. E.
Decent walk with the dog if you're looking for something fairly short (>30 mins) - pond with ducks to view, decent open space and a nice trail to follow.
W. R.
A beautiful woodlands park
B. C.
Lovely woodland paths and a large field with a very nice pub and children's playground. Good car parking too.
T. J.

J. G.
A beautiful place to walk. Some lovely woodland to explore with the dogs and a good pub to rest in.
F. W.
Enjoyed the food and variety
M. B.
The park is nice and well maintained. However, idiots have left rubbish all over the place and some people have never heard of social distancing.
M. T.
Really good for walking your dog and getting some exercise yourself of course! Wooded areasook quite unkempt and overgrown - council cutbacks maybe?
N. n.
