Reviews of Fort Victoria Country Park
M. P.
Well worth a visit, stunning views across the Solent. Visitor attractions plus cafe and toilets. Free parking, access to the coastal path with walks to Totland Bay and Yarmouth.
L. c.
Plenty to see and do here. Interesting beach with rock pools and lots of different kinds of seaweed. There are bbq areas too, as well as the cafe and shops.
D. B.
Fort Victoria is one of the best. Sea, countryside, great cafe and coastal walks. Free parking and easy access to Yarmouth. Immerse yourself in history. Don't forget to visit nearby Golden Hill Fort too! Ensure you grab a coffee and sausage roll from Cafe Verdi
K. d. c.
One of my favorite park in the island. Very peaceful view looking over you can see the mainland, a few minute walk to town of yarmouth. And there is a nature park good for walking and cycling if your interested.
S. L.
I feel not many people know about this place or go & look, more a locals gift. Its got great parking space. A great view of the sea. Not for swimming but we saw some people fishing. There is a cafe here & reptile house or rescue. I don't think they make the most of the retail areas here. You can also walk around on top of the Fort & have a good look out to sea.
M. F.
Lovely walk, great views and a couple of cool rope swings which the kids loved.
G. R.
A great place to go for a few hours on a good day. Both my 6 & 17 y/old daughters enjoyed it there. Lovely woodland walks & scenic views. Free to park. The cafe staff were pleasant. Toilets there which were clean. If you wanted a map you put in a contribution towards upkeep
S. M.
Over the woodland clifftop work. Great views especially of Hurn Castle. Would recommend to anyone
D. W.
Great place to have a wander. There's a free carpark with some shops, cafe, info, reptilarium and a space place. The reptilarium was £5 each and was well worth a visit. We didn't visit the space centre as you had to phone to book a slot, though I did enjoy it when I last went a few years ago.
We went walking in the woods around the fort which was a nice walk. We could have done with a map so we knew which path we were on, however the paths were decent enough with wooden sculptures throughout which was cool. We did see a sculpture trail quiz type thing when we got back so it might be worth you picking one of them up from the info place before you set off walking. We also went along the beach and had a look for fossils which was fun!
J. P.
Free parking, museum, aquarium
Good views of the Solent. Freedom to roam around the site on both levels. Ideal spot for a picnic.
N. N.
Beautiful wooded park which the IoW Coastal Path runs through. Good coffee at the cafe beneath the Fort, with toilets, a green space and fine views back over the Solent to Lymington and Hurst Castle
I. N.
Visited for the first time today. What a lovely place to spend an afternoon. We ate lunch then sat and watched the mirriad of yachts, taking advantage of the breezy weather today. The shops and other attractions are interesting and very nice to wander around. Ideal place to bring the whole family
J.
Not much to do here apart from a walk with a few tat shops underneath. Great views across to the main land though.
C. B.
Nice, tranquil location, steeped in history with spectacular views.
I.
A wonderful place to visit. Great for crabbing with the kids.
j. b.
Great views. Free parking. Not all things open on day. Interesting. Woodland walk also.
M. S.
A Beautiful place to visit, sit, paint, picnic, walk, sea fish and so much more. Enjoy a snack or a meal at the beachside Café or use the parks permanent Bbqs. Visit the small interesting businesses, studios and planetarium; there's something for everyone.
R. Q.
Lovely free place to explore, crab and watch nature. We went at Halloween and they do great free trails and trick or treats.. So much to do and mainly free. Including parking
S. B.
Nice historic fort with a few attractions and a nice little cafe with wonderful staff. A nice place to while away an hour or two. Sadly for us the model railway was closed, the reason for our visit, but it was enjoyable nonetheless.
A. M.
Nice views, good amount of information they have a store there that's just wierd though!
C. L.
Nice dog friendly area, attractions and cafe slightly on the expensive side but a good half day out. Although parking is free, there aren't any marked bays so it's a bit haphazard.
D. W.
A peaceful woodland and coastal walk, half an hours walk along the coastal path from Yarmouth. Great dog walks, stunning views across Hurst narrows with vistas from the Needles to Yarmouth with the Purbecks and New Forest Coast in view at various points.
Mostly Holm oak woods, good underfoot in the dry but looks to be clayey in the rainy season. We saw no squirrels in mid summer, no pine trees but maybe better in acorn season.
The Fort has a cafe, large green area and beach. Access to the beach becomes restricted as you approach Fort Albert with private holiday homes.
The Circular walk continues in open farmland but there's a signposted higher woodland walk back to the entrance. Paths are well maintained.
Don't miss the Boathouse xafe.
T. A.
Love this place. Ladies in the cafe are so welcoming. Free biscuits for our dogs and extra sausage provided in my sandwich...just in case hehe xx
L. F.
I love it here, although it was only half open this week. Nice cafe. It was also blowing a gale on my visit. Nice beach walk and great views across the Solent. Reptilarium and great model railway
M. M.
Great place to see the sunset. Also good for walks on the beach.
S. W.
Great place for sightseeing, follow the trail through the forest upto the viewpoint. From there you can see both Hurst Castle and the needles.
S. H.
Lovely place to take a stroll around.
Venue is open 24/7 and is free of charge as it’s run by the Isle of Wight council .
Large car park which is free to park at.
Small number of shops selling various items, however most closed when we attended.
There is a cafe on site which seemed reasonably priced.
There is a small shingle/stone beach which is lovely for a short stroll along.
Worth while bringing a picnic with you to have on the grass over looking The Solent and Hurst. Castle.
Walk along the top of the old fort tells you about the history of the fort.
Great place to spend a few hours.
Suitable for dog and those with limited mobility.
d. c.
Nice to walk around and see how was way back when - also nice to see the area where three currents meet and it’s choppy how calm the solent is...
R. F.
We went on a very wet day, so sadly I cannot speak about the surrounding woodland walks and coastline but it do look good from what I could see. Free parking there and lots of attractions to go into, all will cost upwards of about £3 per person but some are better value than others. The Archaeological Discovery centre was an absolute find, far better than the model railway in terms of interactive for kids and very helpful attendants. Didn't try the others so see comments from others.
T. F. D. A.
Stunning day spent at Fort vic. The only thing letting it down was the van that seem to be parked with someone living in it stank of wee. Was very unpleasant
S. P.
Had a great morning, walked along beach , went into the little reptile house which is well worth the money
G. D.
Lovely picturesque area & woodland walks.
S. B.
Pouring with rain and a little depressing. Only 2 shops open. Assume most will reopen at end of March 2022
P. H.
Lovely place. Good open space, nice wooded area with good paths. Great sea views and a cafe too.
D. H.
Visited the reptile centre. Which I loved they have lots of cool reptiles which children would love. Then went on the beach for some fossil hunting. Managed to find a crocodile tooth and some sort of Dino bone. Looked around the fort as well. Really enjoyed it.
J. P.
Great spot for dog walking and watching the sunset over the sea. Toilets are open all the time which is another bonus and they are kept so clean! There is loads of places to walk to from the car park and a little cafe, informationation point and a few other things. Plenty of benches and picnic benches and even BBQs.
D. S. C.
This beautiful park joins the beach, there's lots to do and see in the park and there's a nice little café here too, there's a planetarium a historical maritime museum and a large indoor model railway among other things, I recommend visiting this place!
G.
Great location with views over the Solent towards Hurst Castle and the South Coast of England.
P. H.
Visit whenever we go over to the island. Nice food in spectacular location overlooking the Solent with seating inside and out. Shame the other units in the fort seem to be closing. A historic site with much to learn.
P. B.
Beautiful in sunny weather, lovely views and very peaceful.
C. M.
Lovely place. Super cafe, good food and freindly staff. Very dog friendly, good walks. Lots of interesting shops.
E. L.
Good walks with great views and quirky shops of interest like a planetarium thats 25 years old.
J. P.
Beautiful place very calming lovely Cafe with good food free car park big bonus
T. K.
Nice woodland walks and a beach, but not much else to offer. Then again we came at a time when the model railway was closed, which might have added a star. The walks had some nice things to look at along the way at least. The Fort itself is somewhat underwhelming but there are some nice places to spend money built inside the arches.
M. P.
Lovely views, nice beach (pebbles), excellent cafe serving great food with a sea view.
C. W.
Great model train display, reptilereum, planetarium, and cafe plus fossil displays enjoyed by all the family, good wet weather day, but also great views of boats and shipping
J. W.
Lots of free parking ,some lovely walks .great picnic areas ,cafes ,shops and activities .Not a place to swim
D. B.
Some nice forest walks, great views over the solent, small selection of shops, a museum and brilliant reptile and turtle place well worth a visit. Small cafe serves up some pretty good luches
R. H.
The first time I've been here. Lots of history all around. Well kept. It was a bit overrun with 100 or so Minis that were on the IoW Mini adventure with Westcountry Minis. Well worth a visit.
T. S.
Great place to sit near the beach front and watch the boats etc. Would like to say a huge thank you to the person who handed in my wife's mobile phone which I left on the bench last Thursday.
M. L.
Simple, but nice. Sea views. Nice lawns and picnic areas. Nature trails. Café.
A. H.
Lovely place to relax, beach, bbq area, cafe, places of interest and history all in one place
R. F.
Not a huge amount to do here it felt with out spending money. Car park is free and it's a gorgeous view out to the sea. 3 year old explored the woods which seemed fun. Beach (when the tide is out) is pebbly. Seemed popular site for fishing
C. C.
Great walks for dogs on the trails and they are allowed in the imagination, so you can have a browse of local wares.
c. v.
Nice woodland & pleasant place view towards the mainland.
Free parking with small parade of cafes & shops
G. R.
Nice bit of history with a lovely walk around the woods,
R. G.
Free parking and good place to spend few hours.
V. M.
Such a lovely place, the tide was out, so managed to walk further along the beach than usual
M. N.
There are some great walks you can do from here and a nice cafe too.
S. B.
Shame they knocked the rest down. Still interesting.
K. R.
Cafe Verdi was excellent as normal and the art & crafts on offer in the building nearby was plentiful. very friendly people in there and lots for every pocket..
P. J.
Nice walk along the beach and along the coastal path, the fort is worth a look around if you're interested in that sort of thing.
N. L.
We visited on our last day at the Isle of Wight. It was well sign posted and offered free parking....result! I believe there is a country park walk but on this occasion we only visited the beach area and had an explore of the shops as well as having tea and cake in the cafe. I would like to go back and explore more of this soon.
G. B.
Nice place never been before. Couldn't stay long will visit again.
N. C.
Stunning views of the Solent, great for a picnic or bit to eat at the cafe.
S. H.
Visited the cafe on site, which was very busy but got everything out in good time. Canned drinks were a bit expensive, but that does seem to be the way it is unfortunately. The food was good and hot.
There is a massive picnic area and an area for doing BBQs, which is a really large space.
There is a beach there which is a bit secluded with woodland behind you, you can paddle there but not swim as the currents are really strong!
You have fantastic views everywhere you look, Hurst Castle looks so close.
There is free parking which is always good to here.
There are other things going on but I didn't visit them.
J. G.
Free parking & brilliant walks along the old military road inland in the woods and access to a wonderful beach great for fossil hunting and opputintys for photos of the amazing views.
c. g.
Spent most of a whole day here with the kids, plenty of walking routes around, nice beach and rock pools when the tide is out, nice views back across to the mainland.
G. P.
Lovely location with a great cafe with friendly staff. Beautiful views.
E. D.
Free parking. Lovely walking area. Pebbly beach. Good picnic area with BBQ . Clean facilities. Plenty to entertain the youngsters (some you pay for)and a 2 Cafes. Very near to town, so free parking a bonus.
C. P.
Lovely place to saunter under the trees in hot weather, spotting the many wood carvings hidden along the trails. The cafe is a very pleasant place for lunch with a sea view.
A. T.
Great spot. The gift shop is a really good one full of things interesting and quirky.
S. W.
Lovely for a walk, there is a cafe open there in the high season. No swimming is allowed due to the high currents but there is a nice beach and forest walks around.
I.
Great place to go for the day, planetarium, reptilerium and a cafe. Gorgeous views of the Mainland as well. You can also walk along the beach hunting for fossils.
C. L.
Lovely place to walk the dogs and relax by the sea .
C. L.
Few shops and nice walk into Yarmouth which is well signposted
T.
Wonderful views, lovely woodland and coastal walk.!
J. K.
Nice shoreline, interesting geology and history at the fort. Nice picnic spot too.
C. T.
I found this place a little intimidating. Whatever it was, something made me feel very uneasy and a little spooked.
Admittedly I was with my wife at the time.
A. k.
Lovely walk/forest/beach/fort. Good café too
M. G.
Lovely place to visit
s.
Very interesting place to visit. Some good history and archaeology of the site. Wonderful cafe and friendly people also a big plus in its favour.
R. T.
Peaceful spot to watch the boats and the glorious sunset.
S. M.
It's got good views but very small place
A. L.
Great cafe, lovely views and free parking. Also a good starting point for a decent walk.
H. C.
Lovely place on isle of wight .went to Allum bay coloured sands .Sadly chair lift was not working high winds .
Victoria park and fort was an experience
Walking in the woods for 2half hrs as we got a bit lost .So glad of the big mugs
of tea /coffee we then walked back to holiday hotel .Must say the carvings in the wood were good especially the man on a bench .
S. B.
Fort Victoria is great to base yourself for walking. Woodland, beach or countryside. I like to do a circular walk with my dogs, taking in all three.
This time of year the 2 cafes are closed. Roll on Spring.
L. D.
Nice place to visit, we had a short stop over on our way elsewhere.
C. P.
Love going for dog walks at Fort Vic. Perry loves having a swim in the sea then a wicked woodland trek. (that's my favourite bit) 😁
M. H.
Lovely place with great scenery. Little cute cafe, Personal and very friendly.
C. V.
Pleasent walk along the sea shore
R. W.
Lots of little attractions and had to pay for each separately
C. T.
Wonderful location with stunning views over the Solent.
P. G.
Absolutely loved our first trip to Fort Victoria.

T. P.
Love this place. Peaceful and relaxing. Perfect for visiting as soon as you get off the Ferry
T. H.
Great views
G. S.
Nice place for views over the Solent. The boathouse was good but can be quite busy
A. G.
Lovely place to visit. Something there for everyone, not everything open due to covid but what there was was lovely, even in the pouring rain
F. P.
Great place to explore with kids. Had a walk on beach and explored the woods too. We had a wonderful time and all free too
L. M.
Free parking. Loads for the kids to do. Space for them to run around.. Collect 'fossils' on the beach. Clean toilets and four other attractions as well as free walks and talks in the school holidays. Beautiful views. Highly recommended. You can't swim in the sea due to passing boats but it's a beautiful beach for a paddle and for sunbathing
H. V.
Really lovely little picnic area. You must not swim there, however the sea views are beautiful. Lots of space for BBQs in the summer. Well looked after, and visitors are encouraged to take their rubbish with them to not spoil this lovely piece of heaven. Lots of wildlife visit the site too, with foxes and rabbits stopping by to see what's happening. Beautiful sunsets there too. It's perfect.
J. M.
A great place to visit, as it has lots of interesting history, loads of seating to enjoy just sitting and watch the world or passing boats go by, plus picnic areas and country walks. A great aquarium and museum plus the all important cafe for teas and ices. Great for families, dog walkers , in fact everyone, with free parking.Fabulous!
L. W.
Excellent place for young kids (especially the reptiles and gift shops), and great walking too
P. T.
Nice car park, range of attractions. Lovely exposed spit of land with coastal views of Hurst Castle. Woodland walks to get lost in.
C. D.
Wonderful local knowledge that shop owners were willing to share. Beautiful views. And fantastic cream teas
C. S.
Great view of the sunset over a small beach where you can either walk the dog or pick up shells off the sand. ..lovely woods to walk through and I'm sure the cafe would be nice too had it been open when I was there. Great view of the ferries going in and out of Yarmouth.
l. d.
Fantastic views with a lovely beach to walk along and a wooded area to take lovely walks through. Food is lovely and very reasonably priced. Dogs welcome and accessible for the disabled. A few small shops are around to buy small items. You can also walk along the fort and read about it as you go.
L. S.
great place for everyone lots to see and do very reasonably priced plus free parking.
J. D.
It was a nice place to go for lunch and a walk, to look at all the yachts. However the fort itself is a brief visit and the attractions that were advertised were either closed or very small and not cheap!
D. M.
Unless you like history the fort itself is a little boring, some interesting views but otherwise not much to do. However it has some very nice picnic areas and a lovely cafe and plenty of space. So lovely place to go for an afternoon picnic. There is also a planetarium and a reptile zoo, and a large gift shop. Nice place to spend an hour or two but no longer. Absolutely no swimming though due to dangerous currents.
J. A.
Great place to walk and unwind and explore...great views of the Solent and Hurst Point.
R. L.
Lots to see and do, nice cafe near the fort on the beach. The one in the fort was closed.
The reptile place is nice, but small. Still good fun for kids.
Easy to find fossils on the beach, lots of fun!
Great varied day out, free parking is a bonus and rare on the island.
Public toilets are free as well, though not very clean.
S. R.
Really super, great views and lovely place to walk round. Kids loved it as beach is interesting and trees to climb.
D. F.
Beautiful quiet spot. Some campervans seem to be using the car park for overnight stays. Didn't try any of the businesses in the fort itself so can't comment on those but there is a great coastal walk through the woods in either direction.
P. P.
Lovely place to visit. Had an ice cream there & a lovely mug of tea at Cafe Verdi
R. J.
Nice shops, lovely area, sat down by the water's edge very nice. Main toilets not so nice very smelly and just generally not clean.
T. C.
Do lovely breakfasts.but lunch was not very good.slow on getting food out.and one meal coming out before for rest.
s. y.
Nice little cafe with toilets to the side. Great little bits of education, dotted here and there, nice scenery and good circular walk. Was good with a push chair so should be good for a wheelchair.
M. J.
Well worth a visit and parking is free, the whole place just needs a bit of updating and tidying
J. M.
Beautiful views such a shame everything has closed down☹️
J. K.

P. F.
Great place to start a walk into Yarmouth along the sea front
F. c.
Great mix of woodland and beach. You can watch boats and jet skis. You can read notices about the history and there are long trails to follow. Cafe is pricey. Free parking

T. J.
Great views across the Solent, but not much in the way of attractions.
T. B.
Great views. Nice little cafe overlooking the solent
P. M.
Beautiful place to walk with your dog
M. C.
Quiet, brilliant for dog walking, if only people picked up after them. Couldn't find dog poo Bin on way out so had to use normal rubbish bin. Public toilets were lovely and clean too. Would go again if in area.
M. P.
Lovely place to visit with the kids..Rangers will show them about rockpools and lookin for fossils..tea rooms coffee and cake yummy..parking can be busy..
D. H.
You can relax and watch the comings and goings on the Solent like cruise ships and yachts from here besides looking at the history of Fort Victoria,
K. C.
It was a rainy day when we visited the Fort. We didn't go to every shop/attraction but the ones we did were well set up. The marine archeology was the most interesting to us. The owner kindly gave us a booklet as we home educate. We got soaked through on the beach but it was worth it! The only reason I haven't given five stars as it was advertised to do clay pot making and bow and arrow. These weren't on, but this may have been the weather.
A. S.
Loved this place. Has free car park, cafe facilities and free toilets. Lovely beach. Would highly recommend.
D. G.
Lovely place with great views , nice little cafe and walks in the forest . Free car parking and public toilets.
P.
Great for the kids to let of steam and fossil hunt with the added bonus of a decent brew. Great views across to the mainland.
A. C.
Have been fort Vic previously but...... that was all. Having recently done the coastal path and ventured into the park itself...... absolutely gorgeous and, would imagine at a better time of year one can enjoy it even more. However, ones adventures are what you make them xx
l. b.
Good views of the Solent. BBQ and picnic area, cafe (friendly lady runs the cafe). Toilets, free parking, archaeology exhibition, small reptilian centre and model railway. There is also a footpath to Yarmouth and small beach when the tide is out. All good fun, especially on a sunny day.
S. F.
Free parking amd a fabulous view. Lovely walks and if your lucky you will see a red squirrel. Lovely cafe but get busy. Model railway is sweet amd worth a visit just to keep it open. Great for sunsets too
s. l.
Great little place for a walk and a café for lunch.
J. G.
This place surprised me there was lots to do and lots to see I spent a good 3 hours I could have spent longer but we have to catch the ferry
C. D.
Lovely place to come for a scenic walk. We often walk here from Yarmouth and back and it's fantastic to then stand on the top of the fort and look over at Hurst castle
J. P.
Nice views.. good car park.. needs somethi g else
S.
Great views across the coast, good history but very cold
C. H.
Lovely little cafe and stuff to do
R. B.
Breakfast nice, but cafe very noisy from tourists which ruined the peace and tranquility of the place.
M. C.
Great for all the family, lovely café with the nicest ice cream especially the rum and raisins! With some great little shops and planetarium there's something for everyone. Great views from the battlements from West to the East
M. D.
Free parking, lovely views, super cafe
S. B.
Park great this gets the four stars .great for a walk . But cafe not so good. Limited ice cream due to being sold out .clotted cream is in the word (cream) which it wasn't it had separated on taking it back was met with abusive, rudeness buy staff. But lemon cake was really good . Lessons in customer service wouldn't go a miss .shame really
i. h.
Nice view across the solent and relaxing walks into the woods easy free parking never too busy. Nice local cafe and public loos if needed.
G. P.
This is a little gem. A must visit of you like history or nature

Great area to visit and relax. with Woodland walks, amazing sea views, and a light bite to eat at the cafe.
R. K.
Very peaceful lovely cafe and some very nice areas to explore
C. H.
Well worth a visit, to chill out on a nice sunny day. Cafe serves hot and cold running food, ice-cream, hot and cold drinks and snacks. Food is good, fresh and filling. Plenty for the kids to do, large model railway, of foreign depiction. The British depicted one, that was under construction in 2017 and what loco's and stock they were running, was totally wrong and childish. The shop I wouldn't recommend to anyone. They don't have a clue what to stock and it is, over priced. The view is very good from the front of the cafe, overlooking the Solent and the main Land. Shame that most of the other units are not in use.
D. E.
Some lovely little venues for a visit. Reptillarium lovely and cafe with some great simple food. Not pricey and well worth a pop in
C. L.
Great place for children as long as the weather is kind..
W. P.
Lovely woodland walks well laid out information point toilets clean went to the cafe had a cream tea and a quiet reflection Come here every year
p. s.
Nice view across solent shop cafe other interests there
N. T.
Very interesting fort with interesting gun emplacements and other exhibits. Very peaceful when we went today, when you consider what it must have been like when they were waiting for the imminent invasion by the Spanish armada and then the French fleets.
A. S.
Understandably not all open but nice for a little wander, couple of shops and a cafe with lovely view, right on waters edge, parts of fort remaining and some accessible
J. P.
Couple of nice inexpensive holiday attractions here.
T. W.
Always enjoy a visit to Fort Victoria. Great location, quirky attractions, woodland walks, Red squirrels. What's not to like?
S. M.
Beautiful views and location but not sufficient facilities.
C. C.
Nice for a 30 minute walk around. There are businesses under the arches if your wanted to explore more.
J. R.
A nice little stop down a rather narrow lane near Freshwater, the fort itself is small but interesting and there is a delightful little cafe which serves a good breakfast with an outside area where you can watch the busy marine traffic in the Solent, with views across to the mainland and Hurst Castle. Well worth a visit if you are in that part of the Island.
M. 7.
Fantastic place to watch the world go by and simply relax. A great place to fly drones and run the dogs. Recommend the cafe for a cuppa and a cake.
E. B.
Very pretty little place to have a picnic, watch the boats go by and see the fishermen. Not much open bar the cafe and the little shop but no surprised due to the current Covid situation.
P. C.
Lots you do, we enjoyed the guided beach combing, looking for fossils etc based from the rangers office. Parking is free which is a bonus and plenty of space for picnics too.
C. P.
A lovely place but the tour really not worth it
W. S.
Found by accident, spent a lovely afternoon enjoying its amenities. Especially the Cafe.
M.
A brilliant place to take the kids! Played on the rope swings, explored the forest and searched for all the wooden animals. Brilliant.
C. W.
Interesting. Good walks.lots of information. Looks a little run down.
M. A.
Great view over the Solent towards the New Forest, plus a few reasonable priced attractions.
S. N.

J. C.
Great venue lovely little cafe good food and coffee.
C. G.
Parking, picnic area, toilets, lovely walks etc & all free but NO SWIMMING!! because of the currents. Plus reptilarium, planetarium, museum, model railway (all small entry fees) & a cafe - great place to go
J. M.
It's great for free parking. I just thought it was a little over priced. A nice rainy day visit can be busy
A. B.
Lots of little shops to browse around. Lovely little cafe with outside seating overlooking the sea with fantastic views.
s. c.
Always have fun here the walk in the woods is very good. Would recommend a look inside the pirates cabin lots of interesting stuff to buy and the man serving was a very nice chap.
M. G.
Great outlook. Great cafe. Free car park.
J. M.
Great place to park up and watch the boats go by. Great walks for all activity and mobility levels.
S. K.
We spent at least 4+ hours there. The place is great and you can walk on top of the fort. The beach is a great place to go shell and fossil hunting.
C. D. L.
Was just a quick walk arou d the grounds, forrest and beach but I loved it all. Will definitely be revisiting it again and exploring a lot more with the family.
R. S.
Nice cafe, free parking, scenic views
a. b.
Lovely old fort. Has some nice shops plus a good walk into yarmouth.
J. P.
Great for a day of mixed weather, pop inside when it's raining to see the reptiles, shop, museum or cafe, or when the rain stops lots of things to do in the woods and on the beach
C. V.
Love it, local crafts available, lovely cafe, amazing beach and yet to explore the woodlands.....
FREE carpark.
R. S.
It’s an ok place to pass some time. Car park gets busy. We parked our car next to another car and the owner of that car remarked that our car was very nice. So it was good from that point of view. We tried to eat at the cafe but in these difficult times they were a) very busy and b) running low on menu items. So we made our polite excuses and had a look around the Fort. It didn’t take long. We did some looking at the water and listened to the bell ding donging on the nearby yellow North Cardinal Mark (Google it, kids!). We then left and someone else could park their car where we vacated and hopefully they received positive comments about their car too
K. H.
Good the only place on the Island with free parking
G. D.
Lovely place to go, would give it do five stars but starting to feel little neglected, sea defensives are started to collapse, be a shame for a place of historic interest like this to end up crumbing into the sea.
S. V.
We visit the island frequently and we had never been here till the other day we totally enjoyed it will be going again
j. r.
Lots of bits to see as well as the remains of the fort wall. Go up top and look across to the main land and all around. Model railway for dad and kids to enjoy. Reptile house as well and an art gallery and cafe.
J. H.
An interesting place in a lovely situation. An excellent place to begin a walk. The real plus was it was the only place we found where parking was free.
S. S.
It's a good place to enjoy & relax just listen to the sea,..
S. A.
Free parking and lots of cool things to do and look at if you don't like huge crowds.
D. M.
We always end our one day visits to the island with a stop at the Fort before we catch the ferry back to Southampton. Great views over the Solent, lovely cafe and a historic Old Fort to look at. Lots of folk seem to come fishing here later in the afternoon.
P. G. (.
Well worth an afternoon visit, can make a day of it if you go in all shops and attractions.
C. M.
Lovely, quiet area. Set in the remains of the old fort, a number of shops and amenities for families in the summer months...
Easy beach / sea access, old pier to investigate, good views of the mainland and passing shipping.
G. B.
Lovely place to walk around
K. E.
Great historical place lots of information about the fort also a great little cafe
M. M.
Small shops in amongst an old disused fort with lovely woodland walks
S. W.
Lovely, little place. Reptilarium is solo cute! Check out this one, and the archeology experience nearby. Café is sweet, sit outside and take in the views across to Hurst Castle and light house.
T. E. S.
We loved Reptilium. Thank you!
J. C.
Fort Victoria Country Park is centred around the 19th C fort. There's free parking, a cafe, toilets, a grassy picnic area, access to an unspoilt beach and a nature trail in the woodlands which cover the cliff top in this region. The fort also houses a number of small museums, and aquarium and a model railway. On holiday with our dog, my wife and I really enjoyed the views, and our dog loved everything about the beach and nature trail. We picnicked and enjoyed a hot drink from the cafe while watching the busy channel of the Solent - and were lucky enough to watch a yacht race. The whole area is well kept, and useful information boards inform about the fort's history from its beginnings through to the 20th C and WW2.
R. C.
Surprisingly good fun. The ranger talk and guide to fossil hunting was first class and the kids really enjoyed hunting on the beach. Nice cafe and reptile house.
C. T.
Lovely blustery walk, really nice, simple lunch which was excellent value, and enjoyed all the exhibitions. Spent A LOT of money in the gift shop, and all lovely stuff.
S. C.
Went to model railway our little 4 year old son loved it but as we got there at 315 they didn't tell us that train stops at 4. But a lovely place . Little boys dream land
K. S.
Good place to walk your dog in the rain. Plus the beach was very nice too
C. B.
Nice little place we stop hear when waiting for the ferry. Just 5 minutes round the corner from Yarmouth. You can also get a tea or coffee.
J. A.
Sadly only a couple of the shops open on the day we called. Appeared to be a little run down. Used to be a good place to visit.
D. (.
Pretty basic as not a lot left of it and amenities closed. Great views though
t. c.
Beautiful view across the solent and a lovely cafe. The planetarium is a great place to visit. The model railway exhibition is fabulous
K. R.
Free parking. Fossils to find. Interesting shop to visit. Bbq and picnic areas. Path to Yarmouth beside the sea. Crabbing at high tide.
B. C.
Nice little area. And a nice woodland walk
S. T. R.
Wow. It's beautiful park at north west coast of isle of wight. British beauty with seasonal aquarium, planetarium and railway. Built in 15th century. Its located at sconce point west of yarmouth. One of the best tourist attractions from IOW one shouldnt miss. English people often enjoy bbq on sunny days here on beach coast on greenary grass.
N. F.
Great point to view the annual round the Island yacht race and visit the cafe for breakfast.
M. F.
Went there with the dogs this morning. Free parking and lots of facilities. Lovely the woodland walls and the shingle beach
B. S.
Fab views plenty of seating, all attractions shut thou arrived at 3pm shop and cafe open.
Had tea and cake in the cafe which needs updating, crockery etc all mismatched and tired the cafe feels like a blast from the past but not in a good way prices on the steep side
L. C.
Nice spot to overlook the sea and have a picnic. Reptilarium worth a visit if you're there.
C. W.
It's an interesting place with some shops and a cafe , just a shame that the model railway wasn't open again.
C. B.
Lovely and peaceful...free parking a bonus.
J. G.
Came across this place by accident. It was late Sunday so nearly everything was closed. Watched a man carving sea creatures into driftwood for a bit. Mooched round and peered in the shop windows. Left feeling more relaxed than I came.
J. P.
Free parking and great woodland walks. There is a very nice cafe and lovely views across the Solent.
J. K.
Always love this area , woodland walk, beach walk and lovely cafe
S. B.
Great place for a nice walk in the woods. Lovely views across to the fort. If like a BBQ it's ideal as there are BBQs set up overlooking the sea
G. P.
Nice views. Interesting shops. Lovely beach
J. C.
Walks, views, food, and restful. A hidden gem.
M. S.
Really good place for a family day out, best if it is dry and the tide is out, but there are some indoor attractions, quite expensive for what they are I thought but in a good day you don't have to spend anything. Parking is limited but free.
M. M.
A very interesting place to visit that is steeped in History
K. N.
One of my favourite places for a stroll. Nice areas to explore in the woods and down on the beach. Lovely cafe to stop for an ice cream.
T. B.
Unusual place but worth a visit. Great views over the Solent and not often found attractions. A Planetarium (really!) A reptilarium among other things. Good little eatery as well.
P. P.
Beautiful views, lots to do and a great woodland walk.

M. D.
OK but not much to do there but lovely views

We used the barbecue facilities for 7 of us. We were the only ones using the area. The area was well kept and had a wonderful sunset free.

Sense of history. Good choices in cafe verdi.
L. H.

C. B.
Beautiful view from yarmouth viewpoint. Beach really nice.
s. k.
Stunning location, possibly my favourite part of the island. The beach, woods and rocky sections are all beautiful. Plus free parking and stuff in the car park.
Worth going just to see David, who carves animals into a lovely large piece of wood on the seafront. Trying to find them all is impossible. Friendly people, calming atmosphere.
G. K.
Love this place, we come back every year
k. s.
Excellent old Fort with a seasonal café and toilets
D. N.
Great please for a walk or sit by seaside
R.
Nothing much to do. You can just check it out if you are around, otherwise can give it a skip. Parking is free. A few batteries are still kept as it was installed during the world wars. I could not find any services open, probably because it was closed by the time I reached, but don't expect that as there as not many visit the place.
L. S.
It is an interesting piece of defensive building work, with an adjacent forest excellent for rambling and dog walking
M. S.
A place built for an amazing historical purpose, with some big cannons still there as exhibits.
It has free parking, cafe, toilets, a number of family indoor activities, and an outdoor grassy area with beach access.
***Not suitable for swimming or paddling due to incredibly strong tidal currents.***
A good place to start walks through the woods heading towards Colwell Bay, or along the pebble beach towards Yarmouth.
Can be good for fishing under the right conditions and using the right approach, but can also be weedy and has plenty of snags.
A. S.
The most beautiful of northward looking views, plus an engaging history and engineering lesson
B.
A very historic part of the Island.
Well preserved.
Nice gift shop with naval history exhibits. Also an insect centre.
C. R.
It's looking a bit run down now, but we were there for the walking routes and they were good. There's a nice and popular cafe.
J. F.

S. F.
Sadly it was mostly closed, but the Archaeology discovery centre was open, owned by Owen, who took the time to show us around and explain all about the site and there discoveries they've made in the surrounding areas. Fascinating and well worth a visit
P. L.
Fantastic service and reasonable prices will go back
m. h.
Worth a visit ,free parking, cafe , toilets, and other things of interest ,was a model railway, think it may closed as it is up for sale, lovely walk to Yarmouth marina. Worth a stop off at the boathouse cafe for drink /food, and it's licensed,, opened only seasonality which is a pity as always a warm welcome.
P. W.
Great place for all the family loads of choices from model trains to reptiles. Fantastic history

Not bad, but wouldn't particularly recommend if you have a toddler. Worth popping over for a cup of tea rather than spending an afternoon
S. M.
Quiet, relaxing, picturesque. Perfect for a walk and chill out
P. B.
Picturesque setting chosen as a defence spot. What remains of the Fort now houses a few shops and cafe. There is a planetarium but have not been in for a few years.

p. w.
Lovely little place to visit
A. B.
Excellent walks, lovely views but expensive to experience any of the amenties as a family. Toilets were also broken.
G. B.
Not much to see. Think a lot was shut due to pandemic.
C. B.
Large free car park and public toilets with a decent woody walk and a pretty coastal frontage , that dont seem to marry anymore because of erosion , hopefully this will be rectified . Plenty of i teresting historical plaques.
S. M.
Little disapointing to be honest not a lot open and we went in season worth a little look as the tea rooms are nice.
R. W.
There isn't a huge amount of the fort to see. Half of it remains, the barracks having been demolished in the late sixties. The rest of the fort contains small businesses - shop, a planetarium, reptile house, café and suchlike. Nice view from the top, and walks around about. The cafe was a pleasant surprise. I didn't expect much, but the brie and bacon sandwich I had was filled full and superb, and there was a good choice of other sandwiches, baked spuds, things with chips etc.
S. C.
Nice place. Nice cafe, friendly staff and great wooded area nearby. Good holiday stop off.
T.
Nice little cafe with good food and drinks. Couple of things to do with a nice wooded walk and seafront views.
