Reviews of Gower Heritage Centre
S. B.
We absolutely love this place, it's a little gem. So much information and lots of things to look at. The kids love the park and animals, the chicks were just hatching which was amazing to watch. Take 20p to feed the ducks some food, they eat out of your hand! It hasn't changed much since I went there as a child, a place stopped in time. The park has been updated and the sand is lovely! And the little tractors the kids can go on too are a bit hit! I cannot recommend this place enough for a real educational visit for the whole family!
S. W.
My son age 15 and I spent an enjoyable 2 hrs here. He had a delicious freshly made lamb burger in the tea room, then we walked around the mill, museum, saw geese, ducks, chickens and goats (take 20p for duck seed). It's much larger than it looks from the car park. It's £4 to park all day, but this is included if you buy tickets for the heritage centre and for us this was just £9, so great value for money. There were several tours throughout the day of the mill, but we decided to just see it for ourselves. We both said how much we enjoyed it. I expect on weekends there's even more to see, we visited on a Monday.
L. H.
Great atmosphere in the heritage centre. Nice independent businesses to discover too (the little bakery, jewellery, ice cream). The cider they make there is also delicious and the staff are lovely and friendly. Had a great afternoon here afternoon after long walks with the dog 👍
J.
Had a nice time there. Glad to see they are preserving some old local machinery and historical practices. Quite a quaint location. Our son was a bit young for most of it but is a very good place for kids as many activities.
A. T.
It's great place for family outing. Children will really enjoy this place. There are lot of facts we can learn related to history and the authorities beautifully arranged all the stuffs of the ancient period.
A. W.
Great place with a lovely staff and tasty local food! The museum is really interesting, and you can try a different kinds of local cider here, as well as see how the power of water is used to produce this drink. Well equipped facilities on side. Worth to pay a visit!
T. S.
Alas, always something to amuse and educate the children, but closed on Boxing Day at the time of our visit.
But a great jumping off point for the walk beneath the ruins of Penard Castle, as you wind your way along the rivervalley, through the dunes and finally onto a wonderful beach.
Look out for the wooded footpath signs just opposite the vehicle access road to the centre.
A great walk for the dog and the children too...
A. G.
Came here today with my misses...there is so much history here, really enjoyed walking around.
The staff were very friendly when we walked in.. Told us everything about the place.
Also make sure you try out by the bakery by the carpark.
S. M.
Such a lovely place to park to go to 3 Cliffs beach! My Husband had his best ever sausage roll here
J. C. (.
Great educational center, let your imagination take you on a tour...living & working at the mill all those years ago...seeing the mill, the water wheel turning and all the equipment that was used at that time " amazing".
There are play area's for smaller kids, be great when the restaurant reopens.
P. M.
Absolutely fantastic a real proper place. Feed the animals and some really informative information and history the kids loved it.
I have to say the staff are fantastic also the lady in the shop was wonderful 😀
Keep up the great work guys we will be back.😊
K. H.
We had a fantastic time at the Heritage Centre. Very friendly staff, interesting exhibits, and stunning location. A must see. Also, have the cider!
C. G.
Nice little heritage centre. Parking is £4 and it’s £2 entry. Not as grand as other heritage centres in wales but worth a visit if you’re interested in local history. It’s also got a nice gift shop, cider tasting and sells good local ice cream. It’s also a good place to park to visit Penard Castle.
J. G. R.
A very relaxing place after a walk of 3 miles to 3 Cliffs Bay and band back. Good parking and if you haven’t visited the museum and visitor centre that’s also worth a visit.
A regular haunt for me after my walks in the area.
L. M.
Dropped in to diner with mum and dog. Such lovely food, thanks so much to the chef! Big portions, extra sauces that were delicious and served like we were in a Michelin star restaurant 😊 definitely recommend even if just for the food!
M. E.
Great place to visit. Friendly and well informed staff were knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the venue, local history and the area. Excellent value too with lots of crafts, excellent bakery and generally loads going on. Great café with plenty of variety and decent coffee! Can't recommend it highly enough.
P. W.
Interesting place to visit and very good cafe. The young gentleman who was supposed to sell tickets for the indoor exhibition seemed more interested in eating his lunch than doing his job. A potential customer became quite angry when he seemed reluctant to temporarily leave his meal and sell her a ticket.
C. B.
Historic working flour mill with guided tours, large collection of vintage agricultural implements. Animal collection, blacksmith, bakery, cider making and many other attractions. Good children's play area and other activities to keep them entertained. Cafe offering food and drink, gift shop selling locally sourced food and drinks as well as the usual gift shop paraphernalia. Large car park, all this at a very reasonable price so a great way to spend a few hours.
S. L.
Stumbled upon this on the way back from the wurms head.
Lovely little place to have a brew and enjoy the sunshine.
Can't comment on the actual heritage centre as we didn't go into the attraction however other facilities are;
On site parking free for 30 minutes
Small bakery with the best cakes
Tea coffee hot chocolate and ice cream with ample seating.
Local produce and cider in the on site shop at reasonable prices.
Seating areas are accessible but the shop is small so perhaps not great for wheelchairs etc.
P. C.
What a lovely little place! Attended for a first aid course but ended up buying pasties from the little bakery & cider to bring home. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, will definitely have to visit again
P. S.
What a great place! £15 for a family of four including parking. Excellent value & lots to see. The water mill was fascinating & lots of animals to see too. After that it's a lovely walk to Three Cliffs Bay.
a. H.
We just went to the pirates Adventure session run by Humanities Health Hub and it was fantastic. The children got face painted, had stories, treasure hunts and lots more. Thank you so much
A. A.
My daughter enjoyed the easter activity. The lady who was hosting was really nice and good with the kids. Unfortunately Only saw ducks today. No other animals. Which is a shame. My daughter a great animal lover. Had there been animals would've given it a 5*
R. S.
Interesting water powered mill and various small museum rooms. There are a few animals including baby goats, a variety of chickens and ducks. One or two shops and a tea room. Outdoor picnic area. Definitely worth a visit
D. C.
Some really interesting things to see and do. We paid to park here originally intending just to walk to 3 Cliffs Beach but we spent quite a bit of time looking around the heritage centre. Well worth a visit
F. R.
Interesting water mill, and so much else to see. Lovely local crafts for sale, organised activities for children ,tractors galore, sand play area for little ones and more. Plenty for a full family day out.
J.
So much in such a small place. Great cider made on site, lush people who run it. There is also a car park so you can access 3 cliffs. But the center is way more than that
L. L.
Got a surprising amount of history in here - and the effort obviously put into the place has been well worth while. Very interesting - old mill, ancient farming equipment, lovely playground for youngsters..Chickens, ducks, geese ..
A. O.
Friendly staff, the live music was great, but the leftover food hanging around and the canopies missing, and it generally being untidy was disappointing.
K. S.
Great place with a lot things to explore and look at.
V. R.
Beautiful place, we loved it, well worth the price. It has a little bakery nearby we went for a snack after the visit. The watermill was amazing
R. J.
Booked my daughters birthday party here and so glad we did. Rachel and katie were brilliant. First they had a story in the beautifully decorated classroom. Then on to a pirate hunt around the the grounds(with lots of animals to see) next they made clay fish and last but not least the duck race. All the staff were awsome. Thankyou for making ivy's day so special. Would highly recommend 👌
H. A.
This place is amazing. The displays and living history are great. Your kids will love the play areas and animals.
O. D.
Quirky, interesting in parts but in need of some refurbishment in others.
M. F.
Interesting place to visit. Reasonable entry fee, staff are great. The produce they sell is amazing.
r. h.
£4 parking all day - cash or card or £5 if you’d also like to visit the mill, clean toilets, nice gift shop and amazing bakery!
D.
Tired and in a poor state of repair, no staff anywhere to be seen, except the gift shop and the cafe. Other reviews mention a Smithy and demonstrations of the power of the water wheel, but none on our visit. There weren't any people in the mock shops either, which made them a less interactive experience than I'd imagine it should be.
There are signs pointing to sheep, but all there is are some sad looking birds in small cages, and some goats. One recently hatched chick was stuck on its back and there was no-one to tell.
The fishpond has been overrun with algae and weeds too.
There's so much stuff randomly displayed that signs appear to describe artifacts that are no longer present.
The whole place was really very odd, with the dining hall covered in a green and white striped tarp. Cheap entry so worth a wander if you need something to do, but I'd recommend eating up the road in Shepherds rather than here.
V.
Lovely little place we visited on our trip to Wales from northampton, the pretty young blonde was so friendly and polite I just had to go back for another coffee after I completed the 4 waterfall walk, I would return anytime and I certainly would recommend, many thanks, Paul
B. C.
We recently visited Three Cliffs Bay last week, and picked this site as base for parking, picnic area and most importantly, a clean (or as clean as you’ll het) toilet facility.
You can either pre-book parking (check their site) or pay at the visitor center. They are both priced at £4. They won’t look you in but prefer for everyone to be out of the car park by 5pm. Do note that the toilets close when the visitor center closes, at 4pm.
The two times we arrived, we were fortunate to find spaces in the main lot, vs the field (arriving around 11:30am-12:30pm).
Two things that we enjoyed was the local cider producer, Aber Valley (we purchased their Apple juice and strawberry cloud cider). As you enter the visitor center, you’ll have access to the toilets and a self-tour around some things they’ve preserved.
W. D.
Little hidden gem. It's free only have to pay £4 for the car park but if you hike here no bother. Lovely bakery and tea room and market every Thursday at the moment.
I. G.
Have been here numerous times over tbe years. It's good to see that a lot of work has gone into the venue to smarten the place up as our last visit left a lot to be desired regarding cleanliness and the general care of the displays and animal accommodation. Today's visit left a far better taste and desire to return their forthcoming cider festival. WELL DONE to the staff for the work that has been done to improve this attraction. Free parking available at the site.
B. W.
Fantastic hidden little gem, so much to see and do. Great people working here and they have done a wonderful job with the space they have, it's like being transported to a different world or age! Brilliant selection of fresh food and snacks in their cafe, friendly staff on hand too. Dogs welcome inside which makes a huge difference to my family as we have 2 furry beasts to entertain alongside everyone else. Free parking and a spectacular walk in the opposite direction to three cliffs bay, an award winning beach with castle ruins in the sand dunes, well worth a visit!
If you're in the area then you should definitely pop in! Loved it!
R. N.
Fantastic day out for the kids! Loved the goats and the baby ducks and all the great local produce
D.
A very interesting place. We have came here a few times now. Always happy to visit.
M. H.
Loved this place. Came before when the kids were very little but this time was really great as they got to see and learn loads more. Of particular interest was the blacksmith, the Black Knight, who was there for medieval week and the duck race (one of ours came second!) Great place to go when the weather is a bit off. Good cafe there too.
A. W.
A great place for kids
Loved the blacksmith. Really friendly, lots of interesting info
Lots of nice food options too
C. S.
Fantastic place, loads to do and see. I recommend all the pasties and the shed head cider.
K. D.
Lovely afternoon out, dog friendly, easy to walk to 3 cliffs beach too
R. W.
This place was brilliant for the kids, but we also found it fun and interesting. It wasn't fully open for us thanks to covid but we still had a great time. Definitely worth a visit when in the Gower
M. W.
Well informative, educational and creative place! Impressive agricultural tools collections, lovely domestic animals, very interesting mill and properly stock souvenirs shop. Need to get back one day for some course or workshops. Famous place of many local festivals like Gower Beer & Cider ; Folk Festival ; Ukulele Fest ; or Wassails & Mari Lwyd. Well worth a visit when You are on the way to explore Outstanding Coast of Peninsula, especially when you got a kids with You ;) Ps. If you are Spring Bluebells Hounter head to ancient Park Woods/Parcel le Broes nearby
B. A.
Nice place for day out but food was well overpriced and worst quality , so bring picnic with you. Lovely jewellery shop where you can buy everything to make your own or buy already made bracelets etc ..
S. H.
Had a lovely cup of tea and a caramel shortbread! Few places in the world can beat Welsh hospitality so thank you very much.
F. B.
Had a brilliant day here. So much history made really interesting by the staff in or out of costume. Home made produce and all kinds of home made jewellery pottery etc. Unfortunately we missed the duck race but apparently much fun was had by all. Thank you for a wonderful day. Frances Mike Anita and Daisy.
R. D.
We had a great time there it was lovely and sunny so the outdoor events was great. Lots to see and do around the centre. The staff was polite and happy to help. We enjoyed the smithy behind gift shop he was brill with the kids, very welcoming and a great end demostration to the day. Also the lady cooking Welsh cakes they was delicious. Thank you highly recommend.
G. M.
Lovely little couple of shops..the bakery had some amazing goods on offer and the little shop had coffee and there own made cider would definitely recommend
G. J.
Great spot. Had cider from a box, there was some live music on and had a tasty icecream as well.
N. H.
Excellent place, superb bakery, great animals
s. K.
Walked from Three cliffs bay holiday park to this lovely gem,had a lovely couple of hours wandering around staff are really lovely, cider Is recommended and the lovely cheese.
B. B.
Interesting working mill. Friendly atmosphere. Delicious bakery.
J. Y.
Visited recently for a cheese and cider festival. The centre is excellent and there's a surprising amount to see and do there, especially with kids. Definitely recommended if you're in the area, and there are discounts if you're staying at the Three Cliffs Bay campsite nearby.
D. W.
Fantastic day out from 12 to 5pm, wish we'd arrived earlier! Lots of interactive demonstrations during half term week. Kids loved it. Lovely people and very interesting information about the mill and the pre-industrial way of life.
J. P.
The Gower Heritage Centre,in addition to its Mill, supports an area for the Iron Age Roundhouse project and related events. Remains of many much older Megalithic monuments are close by as well as Iron Age Fort's and a ruined Norman Fort and Chapel. An authentic focus of Gower's history.
N. M.
Great place to park for walking down to the three clifts Bay, £4 for all day
H. E.
Fantastic place, went on a bus trip and had a few younger children and they loved it. Went in to see the blacksmith and he was brilliant. Very friendly, couldn't recommend enough.
a. 6.
The place was good but worried about the welfare of the goats, they where too thin, their enclouser was very small and very dirty, like more than a days worth of dirt. Other than that the place was very interesting
S. R.
Educational, charming, old school attraction, with lots for all ages.
L. B.
Really lovely place. Great little collection of businesses and entertainment, with really friendly staff.
Parked up and headed down to the beach via the bakery. Ask the parking attendant for directions. On our return bought snacks from the shop and then sat sipping scrumpy listening to music in the courtyard. A perfect Sunday afternoon
S. N.
Great afternoon out. Well priced and plenty of activities giving insights into different traditional industries such as weaving, blacksmiths, glassblowing, wood-turning, milling and many more. There was a small farm, activities for the children and we even had a duck race in the stream. I was pleasantly surprised we spent more than four hours there and we could have spent a few more.
P. S.
Great place to take the children. So much to do and can easily spend the whole day. Lots of activities for the children in half term
M. J.
Very interesting for all ages and delicious homemade Cawl on the menu
T. N.
Nice place to visit, lots of old farm machines, place to park and go off to walk to Gower Bay also a castle to visit too.
P. W.
Lovely place to visit and the entry fee is very reasonable
S. G.
Lovely friendly people run this beautiful place. Will give Cider tasters to try before you buy.
J. “. J. -. M. C.
We visited the Heritage centre when there was cider festival on. Entrance fee was a little steep, but the entertainment was good and the cider interesting.
R. J.
Great for kids and anyone interested in history of the area.
R. B.
Brilliant place to spend a couple of hours and only £5 with free parking
S. J.
Sweet little place kids enjoyed and adults too
E. D.
Love this place. There's plenty of things to do and see. Regular guided tours showing the origins of the mill and how it works. Plenty of food and drink available at reasonable prices
H. E.
There’s a lot of activity going on here, on such a small area of land. Absolutely bowled over by their heritage crafts and I hope they’re getting a younger generation of crafters going on.
S. C.
Quirky place, good for the kids. Recommended.
S. H.
A great place to visit with the kids, especially on a rainy day. There are various farm animals, chickens, ducks, goats etc. The cafe is worth a visit on its own but was closed on our most recent visit due to Covid. Hopefully it will be back soon.
We've been here many times and they often have special events on at various times of the year. Halloween pumpkin carving for example.
J.
Lovely area with great little shops
J. R.
Lovely place to take the kids and to have a cuppa. A brilliant example of a working mill that was still in action. Lots of little displays and activities to keep you engaged for a while.
Parking was only £4 for the day, which gave you entry to the heritage centre and enabled us to head over to three cliffs beach for the day.
j.
Charming. Much more to see than imagined. Pleasant way to spend an hour or two.
J. S.
A little gem of local history of the Mill at Parkmill. There is a £2 entrance fee but this goes to support the centre. So interesting to see how a flour mill used to operate & a lovely tea room children's area. Don't forget your 20 pence pieces to feed the ducks. They flock to the side when they hear the dispenser turn. Also, fab scrumpy and real ale in the shop. I wish I'd taken my children when they were younger.
A. C.
Beautiful place to take walks along the coast, or around the cliffs... park mill, the sheppards and the surrounding area is a great place to visit for a relaxing break away from the race of life...
D. W.
Nice place to explore if you like agricultural or local history. Shop at the front of the complex does not charge for entry but if you want to go through to other areas then it's £2 (Adult) and free for under 16s.
The tearoom is closed at the moment (Aug21) which was disappointing and a lot of the animals were not in their homes (we believe that Covid has had an impact).
Also, would be great if the visitors guide was also available in Welsh.
Would recommend if you have a young family.
S. L.
Very fun for my daughter. Have to say the black Smith is really awesome !! Professional and funny, we had so much fun and it’s educational :)
C. L.
We went for a family day out yesterday. Not as much there as expected, kids did enjoy the experience.
C. M.
Great place and a good reminder of our heritage. I loved it.
s. s.
First time. Me and five year old daughter really enjoyed it. Friendly staff. Very nice. And we enjoyed. Safe place traveled just me and daughter. Nice puppet show.
J. G.
We found this place to b very interesting n a welcoming treat today.
K. J.
Attended the Halloween event, ghost story, witches and web making. Special shout out to Cruella. Thank you for such a lovely day (also adults got a goody bag too)
K. v.
Me and my wife where pleastly surprised about this place alot bigger then it looks with lots too look at, and we both learnt from it
T. B.
Used as a base for a walk nice cup of coffee on return.
Pleasant and helpful staff.
S. P.
Fantastic place from staff to facilities highly recommend it
R. C.
Great place. Lovely alice in wonderland and mad hatters tea party for kids
J. v. D.
Lovely place, friendly people, lots to see you do for kids! Slightly tired and tatty in places but still charming. The working water wheel / mill and tractors to ride on were highlights!
M. E.
Local ales & on site made cider for sale, parking available all within close proximity of the beach and the local pasties are great. A nice and informative place to walk around and very friendly staff. Thank you 👍
J. S.
Good parking for £4 all day. Smallish carpark , but great facilities with toilets and a choice of a lovely rustic bakery where they serve hot drinks aswell.
Great place to start your walk to The Three Cliffs Bay which is across paths , sand , alongside the stream and upto Pendeen Castle ruins.
Stunning views , especially if you can manage the steeper hills.
W. M.
Very interesting. Plenty to see. Staff great
d. b.
Enjoyed the live music, with a glass of cider which made a great end to a lovely day.
On a critical point the museum is looking a bit tired and needs updating and refreshing in areas.
D. G.
A great day out for the whole family with lots to see and do. The demonstrations are very interesting and the animals are beautiful! Plenty of parking in a beautiful setting.
P. G.
Such a shame that we have become so enthralled with Disneys perfect world and Alton Towers entertainment. Here is a cheap, friendly place designed for all ages and very informative.
T. D.
A bit tired although interesting local cider for sale.
M. C.
I used to take my daughter when she was little. She loved it. If you live local it's worth getting a season ticket you will want to go back. They also hold small beer and craft festivals for the adults and much more. Check out their website.
T. k.
Lovely place and beautiful historical
M. G.
Lovely family friendly museum of cultural history. In September 21 its still bouncing back from Covid closure. A worthwhile visit. Lots of history and Cider too.
Y. Y.
A great little spot and make sure to visit the lovely bakery and small cinema.
B. C.
Fabulous day out.
Lovely meal.
Great staff.
Dog friendly.
Loads to do. Great for a damp day.
M. A.
Something for everyone amongst the random attractions at this eclectic museum. Cawl in the cafe was very tasty and plenty of it.
S. W.
Fantastic place with lots going on, cider festivals, live music
S. P.
Lovely visit here today. The main reason for our visit was to see Santa and despite how busy he must be at at the moment, he had lots of time for the children and even mum and dad too. They had Christmas hunts for the children too and they enjoyed the puppet show. Mine also loved seeing the animals and visiting different areas of the centre.
Good value for money considering you get to see Santa too and the adult was included in that price; however I'm not sure it would be as good value out of season. But today we can't fault it!
M. N.
We parked in the Gower Heritage Centre to visit Three Cliffs Bay. The parking attendant who helped us was so friendly and a fountain of knowledge, giving us so many tips on walking routes, places to eat etc. We visited the heritage centre after returning from our walk and although a lot was unfortunately and inevitably closed due to Covid, we had a lovely time. The staff were helpful, the exhibits were interesting and informative and the admission was free with the price of parking (£4). Definitely worth a visit! Also, don't miss the Little Valley Bakery next door, the best cinnamon buns I've ever tasted.
L. S.
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Lots of history to see and learn. Everybody was extremely friendly and helpful.
P. P.
Lovely place. Tucked away in the heart of the Gower. The Paint along Lady is amazing there. So helpful and talented. Definitely somewhere for the kids to visit and they come away with a painting.
C. K.
Good educational trip. Play area for the kids and lovely bakery on the way in.
A. M.
Bit amateur night out. Wife had the honey ice-cream she reported it as tasteless. I had strawberry very nice if you like ice cream slightly crystalline
J. M.
Lovely day out, and much bigger than you think. Good for both adults and children. The guide who oversaw the flour mill was absolutely brilliant, so informative. A+++!!
Well worth a walk from there to Three Cliffs Bay - remember to take decent shoes though!
D. C.
Nice cream tea but the other areas were quite run down after being closed for the covid-19. It should have been cleaned up before visitors came back.
R. A.
Alot more here than I expected. Worth a visit if you're passing
H. M.
Very good place to visit. Teaching young once or learn yourself about the Welsh history.
M. P.
Lots to do for everyone whatever the weather
M. E.
A really great family day out with plenty to see and do, they put on puppet shows and crafts for the kids and there is a small indoor play area. Outside there is a very nice display of historic agricultural tools and machines as well as a good selection of animals. There is lots of history to be seen in the mill itself and a great little café serving good quality food including some old Welsh favourites.
B. W.
An excellent visit. More there than I expected, quite densely packed in. My 4yr old had a great time - especially with the puppeteer and the Alice in Wonderland interactive story. Actors were committed and
Lots of fun. The historical element was mixed in well with the fun.
D. A.
This is a wonderful hidden gem of Gower. Just off the main road, it is the perfect place to visit if you are in the local area.
Firstly, the staff there are all really friendly and give you a warm welcome to the centre. As soon as you walk in, there is a giant moving water wheel, which was one of the highlights of the visit!
On the top floor (accessible by stairs and ramp), there is a wonderful woollen mill display with plenty of interactive parts for the kids.
Next to this, there is a wonderful mini farm with animals in such as chickens, goats, sheep, and fish. They all look very well cared for and are mostly roaming free!
You can also feed the fish, sheep, goats, and chickens!
Overall, I think that this is a brilliant place to be when you are in the Gower area. I am looking forward to visiting again!
K. C.
Always a pleasure
Haven't been for a few years now but it was lovely just to remember happy days when we visited last. Will definitely go again when we can.
M. W.
Expensive day out. It was an open day and some stuff you couldn't do as there were no guides to walk you through. Most inside accept cards and face masks must be worn through out. Nice tho.
A. P.
Quaint but really interesting selection of items
A. S.
Although not everything was open at the centre , it's very educational for the kids , and I was most impressed that paying to park was also the admission fee, rather than the the usual price , top notch ,
T. O.
Surprisingly large inside, seems like a good place to take your kids if you are in the area.
Seeing as it's free for the price of parking I do recommend visiting if you are nearby!
M. M.
Nice artisan bakery, strange 'experience' had a nice afternoon though, pretty setting but plagued by wasps. Good that they let the dog in.
J. S.
We’ve managed two lunches at the Beach whilst on a short break to Gower and can’t recommend this restaurant enough. The flavours are something really special and the menu is all about quality and not huge quantity which is so important when sampling such fine ingredients and compositions. Highly recommend a visit to this superb venue.
A. P.
Eclectic and offbeat heritage centre, don’t expect laser display boards but some nice relevant local information and curious exhibits. Summer fairs on Thursdays during the season well worth a visit.
a. b.
Brilliant day out for all the family xx
J. A.
Fascinating place to visit, whether in one's own, with friends or with family. There's always something to see, to do, to discover here, for all ages, from the building's original use (a Mill), to "duck" races on the "race", from how to make bread (a "hands on" experience), to visiting the smallest cinema - and so much more besides, for visitors of all ages (there's even a popular eatery on site!)
R. A.
We have attended on three themed occasions and each time the centre has been well decorated and the staff in character. Each time has been magical for the children with plenty of things to do. Great for rainy or sunny day
R. K.
Lots of lovely little facilities and shops, near the three cliffs bay. Great for kids! Parking is a bit hard and tight so would recommend a smaller car or a drop off and pick up.
H. C.
This is a fabulous day out for toddlers and young children. We have been twice in two years as we are not local and would go again. The animals are well kept, the activities are engaging (especially the lady who tells stories, very exciting ) and the food is very good for the price.
n. h.
We were there for the first Gower Jazz Festival which was brilliantly organised with top local jazz musicians across the age spectrum, the diversity of musical styles was to be applauded too.
We didn't get a lot of time to look around the rest of the centre, but what we saw was very interesting, especially the working water mill.
All in all I think it's a top place to visit with the family.
a. b.
Lots of variety - different things to do without spending a lot of money. After paying for parking there was no entry fee. Enjoyed the mill workings.
L. K.
What a beautiful place to go?! 😁 I recommend that you visit this wonderful place at least once a year, as there is so much to do and see, it's not possible to do it all in one day.
So this time we did pottery, puppet show and craft. Oh, yes, I nearly forgot, Duck's race, that was funny... 😁
The only downside is that the entry ticket does not contain other activities, like craft, pottery, and so on... But the kitchen is a wonderful place, plus in the old kitchen the lady made tasty medieval food, yum-yum!!!
D. C.
Fabulous place with loads of things to see and do for the kids: real blacksmith demonstration, punch and judy, chickens, goats, sheep, geese, treasure hunt (find the objects), great cafe, bar, lots of mocked-up traditional spaces (dairy, post office), working water wheel and mechanism for mill (saw, milling stone etc.), traditional weaving and making demonstration. It was brilliant!
F. A.
Pleasant gateway to three cliffs bay.
G. W.
Lovely day out for all the family!! Highly recommended, the smallest cinema in Wales was wicked - petting zoo with goats, play area for the kids, mediaeval section with loads of history to read if you're into that. Just visit, totally worth it!
c. o.
This place is a variety of different attractions and displays together in one place - it appears disorganised at first glance but that's half the attraction of it.
The food is good quality and there's plenty of it in each serving.
We went at Easter when there's loads of activities going on and the mad hatter & Alice in wonderland tea party is very good - the staff that play these roles are also really engaging.
It would be 5 stars but the place just needs to be fixed up a little - the toilets are functional but not pleasant & the diggers in the play area are broken.
These are really minor things and I think I will visit again - it was a great day out and improved by great staff.
G. D.
What an amazing place not just for adults but for families as well absolutely loved Halloween there so did my granddaughter
J. P.
Always love coming here. They try to make sure there's various events going on throughout the year. Pirate week is great are the beer and cider festivals. Excellent learning experiences for kids, my 12 year old never gets bored of coming here. 3cliffs bay is within walking distance too.
Y. P.
I visited for the food festival and was expecting it to be a lot larger than it was. The Heritage Centre itself is a lovely day out for children.
S. P.
This little gem of history looks small but opens up to a wonderful collection including a fantastic water wheel powered mill, historical rooms and large cafe. Great food and drink and dont forget to visit the small furry animals, chickens and goats. People arr friendly and the tour is very informative. Particularly like the micro cinema with fascinating story of Will the last miller. Free parking and toilets and gift shop.
J. R.
It was a good trip out for a few hours and there were lots of different activities happening. You are able to go back in time and look at how the mills worked and talk to the staff and they are very knowledgeable about the history.
There is a small park for children to play and there is a little section that has animals such as chicken, goats, sheep, ducks and ginny pigs which was nice as you can see my son enjoyed feeding the sheep.
They do serve food here but the menu is a bit limited and I found it pricy so I didn't buy any food.
A. V.
Looks small from the outside but really big inside. Loads of lovely things to see, history of the area but also plenty for the kids, from small soft play to puppet show, play area and mini farm at the back. Lovely food reasonably priced and we friendly staff. Definitely recommend it.
S. S.
Ideal for children lots to do small cafe with reasonable price food not really ideal for disabled as a lot uneven ground an slopes. Think there is room for improvement. On the plus side car parking is free and entry reasonably priced.
M. B. B.
We had a fantastic day here. We watched a black Smith, a glass blower and a potter at work as well as meeting Captain Jack Sparrow. We also used time credits to get in which was fantastic. It is a great day out for all the family. My only concern was that I was glad I hadn't brought my mum and her wheelchair as some parts are quite steep. Not inaccessible but probably better with a power pack. A great day out none the less. :)
M. C.
Brilliant place, for a family day out it's well worth it, they have an inside cafe and play area.
The blacksmith had us all laughing and his knowledge of all things metal was amazing, would definitely recommend.
A. R.
An eclectic mix of items from all over the Gower mainly relating to it's farming history. The mill itself is still working and the blacksmith was very entertaining. The cafe had a good range of food and the study play area for the little ones is a nice touch. Good for a morning or afternoon visit.
R. R.
Good place to take a class of kids
M. p.
I love this place there are lots of things there suitable for kids of any age. The staff are lovely and willing to help, I would defiantly suggest going there to spend time with your family and friends. Visit the animal park for a feeding session, go to the puppet theatre/craft room, have some food in the cafe and lots more. They have lots of different activities on selected weekends and holidays such as beach fun day, pirate week, medieval week and the blue grass festival.
E. F.
Can't go near the gower without having a stop off here. Fabulous staff memebers and atmosphere. Interesting displays within the heritage site. Also serve the best cidre!
J. P.
Love it .great visit for all the family . I had my bike fixed while the kids explored . And gran slugged down the scrumpy.
Bloody lush 🦓😋
P. G.
Not the biggest attraction, but a good place to spend a few hours, visited during Pirate week, great day full of activities for the young ones. Lunch in the cafe is reasonably priced and of a very high standard.
L. J.
Lovely for children and adults alike. Play atea,s, organised activities including crafts and puppet shows. Small animals to see, historical items and quiet areas. They hold music nights too, such as the Blue Grass festival and have a licenced bar and food cafe. Disabled facilities available. Nice place to visit.
M. F.
Went to see Father Christmas, spent most of the day there, kids loved it even though the animal area was closed because of bird flu. Food was good, had the turkey and stuffing burger. It is looking a bit 'tired' now but still a good day out.. Would recommend.
D. T.
We have driven by this many times, but only recently discovered it. It looks like a small building from the outside, but actually it's a huge attraction based around a historic mill.
Besides the operating mill, they have a blacksmith, Victorian fair, playground, petting zoo, and regular children's activities, such as crafts and puppet shows.
They have a large cafe/bar with local drinks, including cider produced on site, and you can buy flour that was produced at the mill.
D. G.
Fantastic little place well worth a visit. Ian the blacksmith was very interesting to listen to and informative.
R. S.
Took my bike to be repaired in bike shop excellent service
A. J.
Plenty to see and do for kids. If you're in the area for more than a few days and the weather is a bit iffy, the season tickets are good value. Quite a lot of the attractions are outdoors, but there are covered and indoor areas also. The water wheel is impressive and it still drives the mill wheels & lathe most days.
D. M.
Great place with loads to do. Reasonably priced for what's there at £25 for a family. Lots of animals. Lots of old far gear. Staff doing authentic crafts. Good cafe and lots to see. Glass blowing was especially cool.
c. r.
Really friendly and quirky little place, selling coffee and food. We paddled up the river to three cliffs bay and had a great adventure
j. e.
A wet and windy Saturday was easily overcome by a great visit to the heritage centre. Pirate week was on so kids loved it even more. They are 3 and 5 and was ideal for them. Easily filled 5 hours 👍
R. G.
Top museum. Excellent activities for children and interesting exhibits for adults, especially regarding the local area. There is a cafe/restaurant inside which sells local delicious food and good coffee. When you walk around inside it actually feels like you're going back in time. Just when you think you're finished, there are animals outside at the back who are well kept. Don't come to Gower and miss this place.
P. H.
I thought the entrance fee was rather expensive. The story teller/puppeteer was good. The plastic items in the shop were a little overpriced and several areas seemed quite run down. We appreciated being able to take our dog with us.
V. H.
There's so much to see and do here - traditional crafts, little museums and lots of fun for kids. When we visited it was very busy - there was a ukulele festival taking place - and we only had a short time here, but we were taken on a very interesting tour with a guide who is also a blacksmith. He took us to see the enormous waterwheel in action, we then visited the corn mill with its huge grindstones, his talk was both informative and amusing. There's a restored miller's cottage next door. We had a lovely cream tea with scones, Welsh cakes and bara brith, the service was good despite the tea room being crowded. They also do guided walks and tours of the Gower Peninsula - we did an hour's drive through some spectacular scenery with an entertaining guide who told us all about the area's features and really brought the history to life! Altogether an enjoyable visit, I would like to come again and see more!
H. B.
Really interesting place enjoyed a few hours there lovely cafe and places to enjoy your own picnic both under cover and in the open. Great staff and the glass maker and the blacksmith were fantastic then left car in car park to walk to 3 cliffs bay
T. D.
Friendly, helpful cheerful staff. They were so upfront and caring.
Informative interactive quirky museum.
Nice café.
At least 2 woodlands nearby for short chilled wanders
N. L.
Lots of interesting exhibits. When I went was outside of the main season so not everything was manned but the waterwheel and associated machinery was cool to see working. I will probably go back on a day when the forge is running.
R. B.
A collection of various things to do and shops to visit. There is a cafe and a mill. We didn't have time to view the whole of it but the cafe is quite good and it looks like an interesting family place to visit. Also handy to park up for Three Cliffs Bay, which is beautiful.
M. P.
Beautiful setting but misleading in that there's not much information about the area. The watermill is expensive to get into and there's also a parking fee as well. There's a small cinama here built around an old railway carriage which is nice but didn't seem to be open. Apart from the amazing bakery ( you must go here) opposite the cinema, it's all a bit dull.
R. C.
Perfect example of a fun day out with family a lot of history, lovely cafe onsite, local brewed cider
A. W.
Its an amazing place to visit, a bit like a rat run though if partially sighted or blind. It needs more signs to help you get out or find public conveniences. Maybe arrows on the floor directing you in different colours relating to where your trying to get to for vip.
T. O.
Great rainy day out with the kids - lots to see and do.
I. H. (. W. T. G.
We killed a rainy morning here and...odd doesn’t really begin to describe it. If Steptoe and Sons had decided to set up an amusement park, it might have been a bit like this place. It really is a pretty random hodgepodge of stuff centred around an old water mill. That said, the staff were friendly and well meaning, the mill has some history to it and wet weather options are pretty limited in this part of the world, but go prepared to be amazed in a Father Ted kind of way.
A. P.
Best breakfast in the area. Their collection of Tractors is very impressive. We first visited about 7 years ago and we can see all the hard work that has gone into making the centre even better. Nice to see Pirate Jack still struggling to walk straight lol. Our only issue was......WHERE'S ARCHIE!!!
p. K.
What a great place. A huge variety of exhibits and really friendly and helpful staff. It is in a lovely setting and the owners have made the most of that to provide a really good experience. There is a working flour mill.
Close by is parc Le Breos burial mound. Also close by some lovely woodland walks.
O. A.
I love the museum experience.
L. i. t. s. w. d.
I visited with a group from Mixtup youth club and we had a fantastic time! Massive thanks to Jeffery who looked after us in the smallest cinema. Jeffery is a great asset to the Gower Heritage Centre and we’ll return soon.
R. V.
I've been here quite a few times for the various special events that they hold throughout the year. The one I like the most is probably the cheese & cider festival. A really great day out with lots to do & see. Some fantastic walks in the area as well. Also the Centre is dog friendly.
G. W.
The bad first: Parking is not free. Cost at the moment 3 Pounds. But, if you are willing to walk a bit, parking spaces are available... free. The Heritage Centre is quiet large. Come with your kids, or alone. Very recommended, lots to discover. When visiting Swansea and Gower, don't miss out, and have fun!
S. A.
I attended the centre yesterday with my family and was shocked by the cost. Family of 4 £25 but that is to start craft, duck race, pumpkin carving all priced separately.£4 for a pumpkin that cost a quarter of that price to purchase. There was one person running around in a witch costume covering all activities ridiculous. Coffee shop expensive and food mediocre. We had one child with us and spent about £75. Really consider the cost for this Halloween I will not be visiting again.
R. S.
A great day. Brilliant staff, the centre has so much to offer. Our children loved making their own clay pots and spent a considerable time with Ian in the blacksmiths who was fantastic.
J. B.
Nice place always go when on holiday
J. J.
great place to visit with small children, lots to see, play area and coffee shop.
oh and cycle repairs in the entrance
A. M.
Very nice place to take a walk round, young children would definitely love it
A. B.
This place has food and drink with a small bakery. Worth a visit if your exploring the gower, also it's walking distance towards the 3 cliff beach that's iconic of the gower peninsula. If you take a particular path you will find a wishing tree. Dog friendly and toilets parking cost £3. Take water with you.
M. M.
What a fantastic friendly place things to see from the past, own cider, fantastic little cafe, had a wonderful time 10/10 highly recommend a visit
M. A.
Beautiful setting and lovely people.
L. M.
We chose to spent our daughter lily-mae's birthday here today and we enjoyed every moment. We were lucky to arrive and find out that it was a 'Super with Santa' event. Wow santa is fantastic, a gentle giant and has the most wonderful way with children. The entire place was done out really well so festive. The super was worth every penny and tasted delicious and the children's food was lovely and a large potion. The friendly staff and brilliant Santa made a big fuss as it was her birthday which we really appreciated. This is a very intimate event which is set in very special surroundings. I would highly recommend the Gower heritage centre for a visit and the santa is spot on!! Well done we will see you soon and be visiting santa again next year.
B. N.
The Festivals are great! But I can’t help feel for a normal day out, it’s a little expensive
S. P.
A bit tatty & faded, but plenty for young children - especially the animals.
K. M.
Didn't realize how big this small looking place was it was just amazing plenty for Young children to do I'd say up to the age of 10. We got talking to a man who volunteer,s who did wood turning &he aslo told us a lot of his past he had a lot to say very interesting man
O. W.
Great Easter activities for the kids
J. A. T.
lots to discover indoors and out including the craft workshops and a haunted mill! Friendly staff and tasty meals. Great events throughout the year, from pirates to a cider festival
K. E.
Well worth visiting, try to take the free tour of the mills (offered at 11am and 2pm when we visited but subject to change). Much larger and well developed than expected; worth the 7 pound entry fee.
E. F.
An experience not to miss. Those that we spoke to were truly enthusiastic about their heritage. Perhaps a different slant on exhibiting their bits and pieces for much was rather aged. This though to me was a refreshing slant for it was evident of use and not 'straight out of the box'.
Thanks again for, in my opinion, an excellent find.
T. T.
Really enjoy the heritage center. They have alot of different events. The cheese and cider weekend is great. There is plenty of things for the children and lots of animals for them to see.
J. R.
Fascinating heritage site that caters for all ages. Whether you just want a good meal or to spend some money in a gift shop to a full tour of a working water mill including crafts, animals and smithy, this site has it all.
D. I.
We enjoy visiting here in the build up to Christmas. Relaxed surroundings and fun trails to keep children busy. Good cafe too. A day out that has developed into a family tradition ☺
D. E.
I really liked it ! So many craft people in the same place. Great local cider working woolen mill . If your in the area really its a must ! Well done to all that run this great attraction .
T. L.
Lovely museum, with an interesting mix of exhibits. Lovely to see a working waterwheel powered mill
H.
A very good day had ‘artisan bread making’ at Gower Heritage centre.... authentic setting, informative teacher on history of flour making, the mill etc. and some delicious 😋 end products 🥰 Carb free eating put on hold for a while 😳😱😆
Chendore also does Italian/Greek/Lebanese/medieval days... will be going back for more- look 👀 em up - thoroughly recommend 👍
E. T.
Great place to take the kids, loads to see and do, quirky and interesting, a working mill, anilmals, traditional woolen mill, blacksmith, glass blower and other craftsman/woman. Kids playground, and undercover area to have a picnic or buy something from the cafe.
j. s.
Lovely time for small children x
c. B.
Really good to visit for history I could have stayed there all day, however we have a two year old who wasn't so interested as you would guess. Not cheap if your a family of four as 2 year olds also have to pay.
R. D.
Traditional 13c water wheel mill, traditional Crafts, wood turning, blacksmith and woollen mill. Small animal park and good food.
A shame that I the Glass Blower (Rogan Glass) had to leave, I really miss the place.
K. P.
Need to have 6 or more stars to rate this properly. The whole experience was superb, so much to see and so interesting. Also the cream tea is to die for, well worth it and so welcome after a walk through Parc le Breos.
p. f.
Good day out, plenty for younger kids to do and enough crafts on display to make it bearable for adults too. Some interesting local history. Cafe on site. Plenty of parking.
A. B.
Nice little Welsh rural heritage centre with all the exhibits showing bygone crafts & industries you'd expect. 5 stars for the delicious Welsh cawl served at the on-site cafe :-)
E. B.
Loved this place. Great for all ages. Friendly staff. This food. Very well run. Would definitely recommend and can't wait to go back another time.
E. M.
Really enjoyable day out slot of different activities with a duck race thrown in. My daughter loved making her own puppet. Highly recommended.
J. a.
Fab hidden gem .Great cafe. Lots to see and do... go and explore and find out! I love that it's still old fashioned and not pretentious. Will be back. Best proper bakery ever
r. w.
It's a bit of a mess to be honest, but plenty of things to interest our 2 yr olds overall. Ie tractors playpark etc - all very jaded however. The animals were few and far between - mostly chickens! !
The best was the Gower food show and the Bakers shop which did the best sausage rolls for a long time.
H.
A historic place for families to visit. Always something to do. Cider and cheese festivals are always fun. With some great live music and lively atmosphere.
i.
It was nice for a day out but I wouldnt pay and after two hours of being there, there was a birthday party and we couldn't do a lot of things then so they could deffinately improve that they should close it for a birthday party
T. T.
good time there but needs work on it and thinking about disappointed in a few things ...no animals of such ..the egg incubation room wasn't working ...the pond full of weed concept and idea good just needs tlc but would come back gladly as the history was interesting and yes after all that i would bring friends ....
we have similar places back home ...may be a chat with them would help lay out ...
farming museum Huron ly hole east York's
one request get rid of dead body in millers cottage ..looks like he died back when mill was built ......still enjoyed it thank you
J. F.
A really fun day out for kids and adults. Food and drink is reasonably priced, staff are friendly. The visit to blacksmith was the highlight, very engaging!
J. B.
Lovely family experience but expensive at £6 for over 2 year olds. It's £7 for an adult. Feel the pricing for over 2 year olds needs to be reduced. This is why the number of stars is 3. However, it is a lovely family trip out.
R. A.
Nice little place to visit, restaurant has nice food.
B. N.
Stopped for a coffee, whilst out for a spin on the Bike. great place, verry helpful and pleasant staff.
M. S.
It says dog friendly but alot of running kids around. It's interesting to walk around. Look at some of the history they have there. The water mill is still in use for you to see and admire.
A. R.
Set in the Gower it's a lovely location, has a 12th centuary working water mill, guided tours, craft workshops, animal park, themed Birthday parties, play park, so much to see & do. Highly recommend Family day out
N. G.
Unique! This is not Disney World, but full of interesting stuff. It's bigger than it looks, excellent coffee and food, and easy to spend half a day there with a family of four.
J. S.
Cafe was really good. Working mill with their own flour on sale. Good quality local produce. Bluegrass Festival in September is superb!
T. L.
Love this place but things were closed and no animals at all. We paid before being told which was unfortunate. We will go again though hoping the animals and fish pond is open
S. G.
Went along to visit Father Christmas with my 2 young children. What a wonderful experience!Friendly staff and Father Christmas and his elf were so patient and took time and had genuine interest in my children's requests. We enjoyed seeing the animals and watched the Christmas puppet show and made a printed stocking with the lovely lady in the pottery. We also purchased a real Christmas tree which we couldn't fit in the car(my husband insisted on a 9ft Nordman Fir!).Problem solved they offer free local delivery and we received our tree that same day.We will be back!
H. W.
Love this place as do the kids. We're season ticket holders and visit regularly, prob once a month at least. Great place rain or shine.
R. B.
Currently only charging for carpark so absolute bargain for the entertainment you get. Looks like it could do with some modernisation but interesting place to visit and really lovely staff.
A. S.

G. T.

Great place for family to enjoy
p. h.
An absolute treasure. A must for children with everything from sand play area, animal feeding area to puppet shows. Fun for adults as well
M. d. V.
We went for a festival on a rainy day and although it was mostly undercover we had to dodge the leaks in the roof, despite this we had a good day. Staff were friendly and down to earth.
M. C.
Rather children orientated. Parking free if visiting centre, free access to Heritage Centre if only using the onsite cafe. Plenty to see, but over run with noisy children on our visit...
M. B.
Nice friendly place. Good coffee. Toilets. £4 to park
B. J.
Great place, highly recommend a visit for anyone. Particularly, if an event is on - cider festival is one of my favourites!
