This is a beautiful calming place to go for a couple of hours.
Don't rush - chillax in the house and gardens.
Enjoy a snack and a nice cup of tea supplied by the wonderful staff in this olde world gem!
Although it is only open certain days there are a number of special events to tempt you to find a free afternoon to return.
There's a pub/restaurant next door and easy access for a walk in Coate Water.

We visited on a steam weekend, 2 traction engines and alot of farm machinery, a couple of Ferguson tractors. A lady and her chicken paintings, a super stall of walking sticks.

First visit today. Very impressed. Very good set up with lots for young children to do. Volunteers very friendly and helpful. Nice cafe area selling tea, coffee and a variety of cakes. Parking is in the overspill car park and cost £1 for 2 hours.

Fascinating bit of history. Lots of outdoor space for the children to enjoy, and a really interesting tour through the life of Richard Jefferies inside. The kids event was well priced and they all had amazing fun.

This is the original house of the Victorian Nature Writer Richard Jeffery. They have tried to maintain the house as it's original setting. So if someone is interested in knowing how people lived during old days, it's a fantastic place to go. There is a unique feel about this place. Beautiful surrounding, greenery... Awesome.

Nice place to visit it's fairly small house bits of history dotted around, often thing going on in the house and garden. Got to use it as we nearly lost it a few years back. Swindon will knock anything down then ask questions after.

A hidden gem in Swindon close to Coate Park, dedicated to Victorian nature writer and novelist Richard Jefferies. Well worth seeking out though if you are interested in history. Regular events. Limited parking on site so plan your visit.

A brilliant hidden retreat. A relaxing haven for families that is safe for children to explore in secure freedom and the mulberry jam is lovely :-)

A small museum based in the birthplace of the writer Richard Jefferies. The gardens are wonderful. The museum volunteers do a smashing job at creating an inspiring programme of events.
