Reviews of Sir Edward Elgar

Rather good statue but the new celeb of Worcestershire needs a statue being the only member of the population to be in the national newspapers, television etc here is too #CHRISOIL

A modestly larger than life statue of one of the country's foremost composers, located in a prominent position on the city square, facing Worcester Cathedral, with which he had long and close connections. There is a brass plaque in the pavement in front of the statue, detailing his career and local connections. Inside the cathedral, there is a memorial window to him, based on scenes in The Dream of Gerontius, one of his most famous works.

Fantastic statue with great history of a great man in our city. Great open space to hang out as well. Close to shops and restaurants on the high street.

Lovely statue of Elgar opposite the cathedral at the start of the high street. Downside is the amount of youth skateboarding around and off it. Trying to get a photo was a challenge without being bumped into.

very good high street

Often adorned with a cone for a hat or covered in bird excrement, all in Worcester know the Elgar statue. Meeting place for youths, stopping place for buses and a myriad of other things I'm sure. Used to get free WiFi from the Christian bookshop nearby as well but it closed down.

Sir Edward William Elgar, 1st Baronet (2 June 1857 – 23 February 1934) was an English composer. Among his best-known compositions are orchestral works including the Enigma Variations and the Pomp and Circumstance marches.

Love this statue. I remember it's unveiling by Prince Charles. He somehow keeps his dignified air despite the pigeon poop!

A wonderful homage to our greatest local composer. And this is where cool people with skateboards hang.

(Translated) Beautiful and elegant sculpture of Sir Edward Elgar, the great composer born in this beautiful city and author among many others, of the famous "Pomp and Circumstance", which is still in force today in many British solemn events. As it well deserves, it is located in one of the noble points of the city.
