Some rooms are great and some not so great. Need someone to visit more regularly to check through and sort equipment as there are a lot of dodgy mics and cables.
If you 100% need a big room, drop them an email as they sometimes give smaller rooms than agreed.
S. I.
So far, only been to a DJ room with a friend, but it was an awesome experience!
The room has nice accent lighting, is kitted out with top of the range Pioneer CDJs (so get a large USB drive for your music) and loudspeakers.
We will definitely be back!
A. W.
Great quality equipment at affordable prices. Really enjoyed our DJ session. Only downside was the bins were overflowing with empty beer cans from the night before. They obviously had a great night, but the room was a bit smelly and the floor sticky (although this added to the 'real' club night experience you get as a DJ!)
K. S.
Big thank you to Freddie! He managed to sort me out with a session during a booked out period and helped us get in on the day! Amazing staff!
k. f.
For some reason the speakers in the rooms sound much quieter than usual, it's like they've all been turned down. Also always have a problem everytime I go usually the equipment as they are not in the best of condition. Compared to other pirate studios this one is on the more poor quality side.
R. P.
Easy booking, great rates, studios warm and well equipped.
L. B.
Good equipment, although especially at this time of year seems a bit lawless as there is no staff. The halls stink of marijuana and there are large groups of kids walking around and hanging outside the premises, which on my first visit couldn't help themselves but to heckle at us, not sure I will be visiting soon with expensive gear, which is a shame as the gear in the rooms is some of the best in Birmingham, which is saying something for rehearsal studios in Birmingham in general, most are run down and need major TLC.
J. W.
Me and my band have become very fond of this place not only do they have great prices the rooms are amazing the literally have everything you could need to make, rehearse record and produce music best of all easy to book and all rooms ive been in have been clean and if there is any faults with equipment the staff are a phone call away and usually can get a problem sorted pretty quick.
Overall a great venue to be sure highly recommended
O. S.
Pretty good rehearsal space. DJ rooms are well priced and we'll equipped. Some knobs and faders are usually broken, but it's all good practice for real club gear.
Cheap, cheerful, does the job
L. C.
Epic rehearsal rooms, great equipment. Drums, microphone stands, amps and jack leads included. There was awesome things like multicoloured controlled lighting, monitors and a mixing desk too.
Sadly, it's a little bit out of the way and I found it hard to find at first but it is near the Tesla shop in digbeth and a bus stops right near the studio.
A. H.
A handy place to go and easy to book but the last 2 or 3 times I've been now the DJ equipment hasn't been working properly or has been broken.
A. A.
such a handy place to be able to rent out, studios are mostly found in good condition unless the previous people have trashed the place. great that these are available for use for the price anyways
J.
Nice and accessible. Floors aren't always cleaned well, usually, they are sticky. I cant stand sticky, dirty floors so i need to keep bothering the oleeative to clean them
F. H. (. F.
Easy to book, rooms are good for the price (equipment too), and the on-site parking is nice (although “1 car per band” rule can be difficult).
Customer service though - great. Responses within minutes and reasonable solutions provided.
Flaws? Yeah. Some shoddy leads and a couple of cables missing here and there. Nothing that would ruin your day.
Improvements? it would be nice to see a staff reception area on arrival or something. Also an automated music-equipment machine (I.e. vending machine) would be ace (selling strings, plectrums, etc..) BUT I imagine they’re gonna do this anyway, seeing how the facilities have improved since I first came across them last year.
7/10 - would book again.
S. R.
Love this place. Its even better since they upgraded the place. Good dj equipment and a great sound system that's good for replicating club systems, even a few coloured lights to add to the vibe.
Unfortunately I have had a couple of issues, nothing major just a missing link cable one day and another time the pioneer system froze, ending my session. Obviously disappointed but the customer service team were fantastic at each contact and promptly resolved the issue by giving me another booking FOC. Can't fault them.
Ultimately a great facility for DJs and Producers to practice and enjoy. Would definitely recommend.

We've used other rehearsal rooms, but have settled down now and been using Pirate Studios Birmingham since July 2016 and have found it suits us. It's fairly central and convenient for us all to get to. Never had any issues with parking either. It's all on one level, so that's also a bonus.
We've tried most of the rooms and they're all well described and fit for purpose, but we tend to use the premium room as it's a bit bigger for the 5 of us and our guitarist likes a bit of space! Rooms have been clean, air conditioned and well set up. Also, all rooms have snare drums - bit less to carry around, but it's handy having option on whether to use your own cymbals or not
The equipment is good and the very occasional issue has been sorted very quickly.
We like the simple online booking system, easy to circulate details to the rest of the band. I think it's decent value for money.
All in all very happy with Pirate Studios and would recommend
J. R.
Acoustics and equipement at a very good standard. Laid down some voice over tracks and very pleased. Great price and no fuss entry. Plenty of parking!
J. S.
Fantastic as always, newly refurbished so I had a little trouble finding my booth but nothing worth kicking a fuss about! The booth was very well equipped and the system sounded great, decks were in great condition too. Overall I will always recommend for beginner or seasoned musicians/DJs to touch up their skills or even just to have a laugh.
P. “. S.
This was awesome when it first opened. Sadly now, it has become something of a stoners paradise - the entrance reeks of weed and you can smell it in any room you practice in - that doesn't bother me in and of itself but it's an indication that the place is unregulated, which is a concern. That said, the equipment is in okay condition but I'm not sure if that is because the place is maintained or just still pretty new. Its a shame because it has the potential to be great.
A. K.
Very good equipment but didn’t look like it had been cleaned between uses.
A. H.
Overall decent experience, marred by the lack of a drinks machine (kitchen taps were broken), very poor and minimal parking and large group of teenagers drinking around the entrance as we left at 10pm. As a drummer, the kit in room 1 was ok, well tuned, but the hardware was getting worn; bass drum legs allowed the drum to walk too much and cymbal stand heads were loose at the grub screw. Rooms are smaller than you might expect, but sound damping is good.
M. C.
Simple effective studios. Amps in the classic rooms are pretty standard and free cabs,to borrow. Could do with some seating, but the rooms themselves are great. Well soundproofed and good acoustics and price cannot be argued with. Has been our go to studio since we checked them out at Christmas
V. “. V. S.
I use pirate studios on a regular basis and I would highly recommend it. Excellent equipment already in every room and available to use, this even includes xlr cables if you forget you're own. I've never had any issues as I have had with other studios around Birmingham. The management are attentive and someone is always available on the helpline 24/7. I can't complain about this place. It's a great studio and prices per hour are reasonable and affordable.
W. S.
I don’t know how Pirate Studios can afford to be so generous. Allll that equipment for £10 an hour (and 5 ever hour after 2)? I think that’s cheap for just ONE person. For a whole band, that’s downright philanthropic
The room was fantastic, and I loved the drum kit (that’s all I played on). I might get a little band together just because I like the space so much
R. B.
Been rehearsing here since these guys opened and studios are generally great. Had issues with a mics and leads on occasions but have always been helped on the phone. Sound proofing is decent, certainly better than we’ve found elsewhere and love the storage lockers. Interesting seeing people saying toilets are unusable? I haven’t had any issues with them
D. H.
Excellent studio to book with. Easy and accessible website. Friendly and helpful staff. I spoke to Bridget via the online chat and the company WhatsApp she was understanding and went the extra mile to help me amend my booking.
W. H.
Incredible service, hassle free environment. Great creative space. Meet great like minded musicians such a vibe
S. L. (.
Decent rehearsal place, very lively but all remote control so no personal touch.
T. H.
A great rehearsal space. Clean studios with some great gear. Very impressed. Want to give a shout out to David who work's there...he has really helped out with bookings. Only thing I would say is there needs to be lot's more lighting on the car park and pointing out onto the street. It's very dark at the moment.
L. H.
A great place to jam and play music, great facilities, managed really well and very secure.
A mix of studio rooms for people like me who play "anologue music" and the digital music masterminds, deffo worth a go.
E. T.
Brilliant, easy and accessible. Online customer support is professional and on point. We have been in the business for 30 years and have met very few studios that accommodate for all. Pirate studios is one of them. Thank you. Love Eternal Taal - Female Indian Dhol Drummers.
D. l.
Great experience ! used a DJ room with friends in birmingham and met a guy called Anton who worked there who was amazing & made us feel really comfortable as it was our first time will definitely be booking again
I.
This is such a refreshing approach to studio booking. The process is simple; the online interface user friendly, and you can tweak slots till you get a price and time that suits you. Any problems with booking or when you're in the actual rehearsal space (our snare head was broken), are dealt with quickly. Will definitely use them again.
N. T.
Really good place to rehearse for the price, a little strange to start with when you have to let yourself in as no one is there, free parking and the facilities have everything you need.
Only problem with this place is the equipment mainly the mixers aren't the best and need improving as some of the rooms PA systems sound terrible, the live recording records atmospheric noise as well as sounds going through the system so the sound quality is bad and it starts recordings from the wrong part (not the beginning of the song).
This seems to be Pirate studios niche but not having anyone working is there's no sound engineer to help you with any hiccups, although that being said the customer service do the best they can at the time it's just nice having that face to face hands on approach you get with other venues.
D. P.
Always find these studios a little cold, in human and slightly off putting what with all the key codes and Stirling board corridors, and decidedly bad mains supply hum on the amps. Not a massive fan, but still its less fussy than some other places.
K. W.
I've just started learning to DJ, so was unsure about using Pirate, as they are unmanned. I was so wrong. These guys could not be more helpful, live chat is speedy, and they don't make you feel stupid if you don't know something. The prices are great too. I'm going back on Sunday as it was so great.
A. J.
Some rooms are great others are run down, once you find a studio you like keep using that one!
J. F. (.
So convenient that it is a 24 hours studio, You can go literally any time to jam! Such a good idea :) Very much enhanced my Saturday night, and has free parking too, and they got a kitchen inside and vending machines, ya can't go wrong!
Δ. Z.
It's a great studio but the calline for help takes too long to answer, ann sound like they cba to work here! The studio rooms is like trying to break into a vault in a bank! Almost impossible to get into once here I spent 1hr and 30mins just getting in and I booked in for 3hrs so maybe finding another safe lock system other than codes to get in to the rooms.
The code system to get into the main building complex is much easier though I'd keep that security system...
THEY even have a kitchen where you can make food, tea and coffee all sorts good in general.
A. O.
This is a lovely little practice space. Great equipment all round, in a great sounding room. Really love the idea as well, a 24/7 space is great! Good pricing too!! Definitely coming back!
T. L.
Great for trying out some new tracks on the decks and having a chat on the Mike aswell. Great set up
/. -.
Great customer service even though it is all done remotely and quality equipment although I have sometimes experienced faults in the DJ setups such as faulty faders on mixers.
Monitor speakers in the rooms are great too.
J. b.
Have been trying out a few studios in the birmingham area with a band i'm apart of. Pirate is a decent competitor the member of staff that is there in the day is a great help and made us feel very comfortable will continue to use.
K. B.
Excellent studio space with awesome equipment and funky lighting. Kitchen is cosy but has all the stuff you need for a decent tea or coffee. Also love the free car park!
L. F.
Fantastic place for gluten free food. Pizza was lovely and plenty of choice. Staff lovely and felt safe to eat there.
S. D.
My personal experience as a musician at Pirate Studio i can say these are the most superb rehearsal studio I have ever used in my many years. I attend the Birmingham Studio which is in a easy location close too the Motorways and city center, loads of secure parking with plenty of space. the Studios facilities are second to none. if u ask to say any bad point . personally can not pick out any faults. Each studio is equiptt fully with professional excellent working order gear - P.A speakers, mixer, guitar amps, mics, mic stands, Mapex Storm kits some with room 1,2,3 including cymbals. Plus they have cleaverly thought of two additional DJ's rooms to suit Dj's needs.
As a drummer, the Mapex kits are well maintain and in gd working order. studios I have been to previously and well maintained by staff and fellow Pirate volunteers. Last time I visited the Birmingham site, i liked the nice touch of the waiting area with seating - very good idea when waiting for your slot to start.
In addition, Pirate offer a no non-sense simple online booking system that is really secure and and problems the customer service is right on the other end of the phone should you need help or advice. The studios feature a well thought of and clever key-coded locks for each room. Each room either has Air-con fitted or a fan so another nice element.
They also have a locker room containing 40 lockers to store peoples equipment for a fab price of just £10 per month.
Pirate have certainly pulled out all the stops to help musicians in the local community enjoy their experiences at these studios, they even contain clean toilets the whole place is well maintained by cleaning staff together with a small kitchen but i'd advise bring your own cups in case.
Overall, a safe, secure amazing rehearsal studio, Great place to go anytime 24/7 which is not over priced. You can even gain become a Pirate volunteer which to me is a real great experience to gain.I would highly recommend visit any Pirate location you want be disappointed. :)
C. P.
Great place, love the atmosphere
C. A.
Love the whole idea of having a contactless service. They are very responsive and helpful even though there is no one physically there. Will definitely use again
M. R.
A great place to practice anytime of day or night.
Good rates and terms ability to store your equipment at a really reasonable price too!
There is plenty of onsite parking for visitors to use
Y. E.

T. W.
Great location. Good equipment and cheap prices what else could you want. I had an issue once and called the help line and they sorted it out quickly
R. K.
I use this on a regular basis. It isn't the cheapest, and the staff are only available at the end of a phone , and not particularly helpful .The equipment isn't bad although inevitably in places such as this there is some wear and tear. Parking is good.
J. D. I.
Shiit no light in the room
M. R.
This quite a decent place to go to, access to parking, code on front gate, main door and studio room.Rooms are reasonably sized for a full band( drummer, keyboard, guitarist and bass player.Rooms usually come epuiped with drums and cymbals, 1x bass amp, 2x guitar amps, mics, mic stands and P.A. equipment. This place also has newly refurbished bathroom facilities, an overall decent place!
S. T.
Really nice studios and good value for money. Great member of staff called Anton was there to help when I needed it. Use my code stephan2397 if you want discount 😉
R. J.
Car park is dark but the place itself is out of this world clean tidy bright and organised rooms are very well equipped for all you musical needs very impressed will advise anyone to go excellent experience
N. B.
Good for intended purposes. Only fault I had was the room been smaller than pictured. However, for the price it's worth it and I got done what I came to do.
C. G.
Great space for a good loud rehearsal, clean very accessible, easy to book, helpful staff if needed. Would definitely recommend!!
J. W.
Sick studio with variety of rooms available. Only issue is that there was no recording equipment in the room even though a camera was fitted.
L. F.
Loads of various sized rooms, central Birmingham location
a. r.
Great prices and rooms - location feels a bit sketchy at times but I feel it comes with the territory...

D. S.
Decent rehearsal studios, nice inside but the car park isn't great - small, dark and not well surfaced with some low walls.
O. T.
Very good venue and best pricing in Birmingham. However would be better if room were sound proof
