S. D.Always worth popping in everytime I visit Cardiff. There's always plenty of choice. I've taken away 1 star because I don't find the staff to be very friendly. I've asked a question on my last 3 visits and the response was always short and snappy like I had interrupted them. Bonus they have a lift, but the upstairs till is always closed.
Glad to see the shop remain open. Cardiff wouldn't be the same without it!

Moved away from Cardiff and thought I'd heard HMV had closed down so was chuffed to find some great bargains, even on recent releases, and I had to restrict myself on the number of items bought. B. D.HMV has got music, DVDs, t-shirts, vinyl, books, electronics and my favourite Pop Vinyls. Currently May 2021 they have a range of Japanese snacks and soda, they are quite expensive. Otherwise prices are reasonable and they offer good sales. Staff are generally helpful but on occasion I have been served by someone who would rather not be there.

J.HMV Cardiff is a great store! I'm a big fan of buying films in Ultra HD format, this store has a huge range of them and has some great offers. Staff are very helpful. One staff member at the store named 'Alex' is extremely knowledgeable on films of all era's including world cinema, if you're looking for some great film recommendations it's worth seeing if he's working! The store is very big, always clean and tidy and has a lift if needed.

Bought a pair of headphones for my son. Good sound if you like bass always lurking in the bandwidth.
Good memories. Good to see people in Cardiff visiting such shops than relying on eBay or Amazon.

L.No Nicki Minaj albums and a limited Kpop section. They should get more kpop groups such as TWICE and DAY6 and a few Kpop soloists such as IU and more BABYMETAL, other than that the store is okay. A. A.I mainly come here to browse and purchase vinyl records. If you are looking for new releases they have you covered. If you are looking for something older or more niche you are better off ordering through their website as their click and collect is quick and easy.

R. H.In a digital age, HMV is doing all it can to stay relevant - which means a ton of vinyl out front, loads of geek merch, and some genuinely decent deals on Blu-ray. I've picked up some bundle bargains in the Arrow Video range (cheaper than online) so it's worth taking a look.

One item I couldn't find and a member of staff searched for ten minutes to track it down for me (a zelda vinyl album that somehow got mixed in the heavy metal section)

S. C. (.An age old shop that is still going well, even with with the internet shopping and music streaming. They have a great selection of vinyls in, they have old school as well as new stuff like Marvel Infinity War vinyl picture disc along with loads of other picture discs. All the music and films you could want and loads more besides. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

J. X.The latest films and music at fair prices, HOWEVER prices almost never get reduced by a significant amount for older stock. Staff can be helpful but have a bad case of "chatting". The till upstairs is almost never manned and upstairs itself is beginning to look a bit ghostly with the bulk of staff preferring to work downstairs.
G. K.Good hmv. Massive selection of Blu-rays and dvds. Which is what I went for. Good deals to be had. They stock most of the better collections and labels. Indicator, arrow, 88 films, criterion, etc. So if that's what you're after check it out. Also a massive selection of everything in between. Friendly and very helpful staff.
H. L.Overall this place is great. There's always plenty of staff around to help with questions, and lots of merchandise on display so you're sure to find what you're looking for. The only problem I had was they left the anti-theft device on a bluray I bought once, it's best to double check before you leave so you don't have the same problem I did.
R. W.Staff are lovely but they sometimes hold bands upstairs to play which is very difficult for me as I have sensory issues and seizures from stress. If I wanted to go to a loud gig I would pay for one.

Movies are cheaper to buy here than it is to buy a digital copy on Amazon prime. Even brand new films are cheaper.
Searching for CDs can be difficult to start with but once you get the hang of it you'll be finding your favourite artists and guilty pleasures in no time.
Even their headphones they sell are a fantastic price for the quality they are.
A. W.Everything you expect in an hmv you get. Loads of choice just have time to browse. We cant let this kind of retailer close as they offer more than a on line retailer. Visit and treat yourself. We came away with some great films.

Out with the "I am cooler than you" demeanour, in with customer service advisors who are engaging & helpful. The layout inside makes it easy to find desired items along with a great vinyl section to boot!

T. H.I love HMV and not just because I worked there 3 christmases in a row. The staff are friendly and helpful and always seem happy although Steve (security) is a bit of a cheeky one. The only problem with HMV is choosing what not to buy because as well as music and dvds you have things like t shirts, technology, headphones and some little bits and pieces and gadget type stuff. Over the years I've bought way to many cheap dvds or box sets or now albums you can't help but not to buy something. I must say I did like the doormats last time I was in there. This has to one of my favourite shops.
J. W.Service is great, as usual. They couldn't get a couple of foreign movies I wanted. It would be impossible for them to get everything. Otherwise, all of the other box sets and movies I wanted were there and lee than ebay. Yay!
A. T.It's been a while since I last visited HMV in Cardiff. The last few visits I was a little disappointed with the sale selection but this visit I found a few bargains. I would recommend if you are trying to find an older or obscure title, but sometimes the new items can be a little expensive. But generally, HMV is a good shop to visit.

P. M.Had a recent refit and a total rethink on its stock profiles. Prices overall aren't too bad although not the cheapest for everything.This HMV store is absolutely LOADED with vinyl, much of which is top quality remastered 180g material.Their CD and Blu ray stock levels is also very good.And they now have a very friendly lady acting as a greeter.Best HMV shopping experience in over 40 yrs.Oh and I bought Magical Mystery Tour by the Beatles on CD
R. P.One of the best large music stores in Cardiff. At the moment they are pushing 50's & 60's music, which I love. It's like all the big stores if you look around there are deals to be had.

N. R.Pretty much the biggest spot left in Cardiff if you're looking for a huge collection of movies, games, comics and memorabilia all in one place, and an ideal spot for wandering through when you have some spare cash to spend and nothing in particular in mind to spend it on.
There a more niche stores within walking distance suited to specific tastes, such as Spillers Records, Game or Forbidden Planet, but it's nice to still have somewhere that has most of it under one roof, and I've always had a good experience with the colleagues, whether on the shop floor or behind the till.

F.HMV isn't quite what I've used to be 10 years ago it is now a much more forlorn place that sells as much merchandising as a possibly does music in any capacity sadly many of these shirts or figures do tend to have an overpriced feel to them for the quality they are the store is still vibrant and pleasant however the staff are not quite as responsive as you would like to be in a High Street store

So, I went here with my younger cousin and while we scanned the shop for films to watch, we encountered a man. He was around 50 and likely a disabled, he followed us around, asking if we'd f### the s### out of the actresses on DVD covers (as if anybody would say no to Megan Fox). Nobody even tried to get the weirdo away from us!

Occasionally there are some good offers to be found. Knowledgable and helpful staff can usually point you in the right direction if you can't find what you're looking for. If you're after little known artists then this is not the place for you.

P.The Cardiff Branch of HMV is literally one of the only decent places left in Cardiff City Centre where you can browse through and purchase cds, vinyl, T-shirts, DVDs, Blu-rays, Headphones etc. If its audio or visual entertainment you seek then this is the place for you. Prices can vary, generally they're quite reasonable, however from time to time you'll come across a price that defies belief, thankfully those items are relatively rare. The staff are very friendly and helpful and will generally find an answer to your queries.
