I bought my 1st guitar in 1994, had a few lessons before giving up after a few months and putting it up in the loft. 25 years later I got the urge to learn again while listening to favourite songs/bands while on holiday and wishing I could play them.
I reviewed several teachers before contacting Carl a couple of years ago and I could not be happier with my choice or the progress I've made. Carl will assess your abilities and tailor your learning around the music you like and push you to achieve playing the songs you like at your own pace and all the time the learning's fun.
If you want to learn guitar you really can't go wrong with Carl. Great guitarist, brilliant teacher, just an all round great experience.

Having had a guitar for many many years with the pretense that I would always get around to playing it someday, I finally stuck to one of my New Year's Resolutions and decided to take some lessons. I am so thankful that I found Carl as his teaching methods are absolutely amazing.
So as a 40+ learner he was able to adapt my training to a method and pace that suited me, teaching me snippets of songs that I love and eventually building up my skills to be able to actually complete a whole song. It has been an amazing transformation over the past year to start from not being able to play at all to actually enjoy playing and practicing on a daily basis.
As much as the training is all about learning it's also about having fun, which he makes it so in spades. From his teaching finger wand, to his ability to correctly work out a strum pattern in a song is amazing and funny.
One of the main things I liked, was that I didn't feel that I had to buy new gear to be able to learn on? He took and restringed my old guitar and made it sound and play like new, he recommended Amps and phone Apps to help me with my training, and gave me tools to make sure it was always in tune.
Having a regular weekly session with him has helped me to commit to my training and I actually look forward to every session as there is either positive feedback on the previous week’s progression, or tweaks and enhancements to push me further in what I have been practising and then there is always something new and interesting to learn.
Week on week I feel that I am getting better and better at playing!
TL/DR?
Great guitarist, great teacher, good location in Chesterfield and Parking onsite.

I have known Carl as a friend for many years and as a bass guitar student for the latter ones. He is professional in every sense of the word. Not only do you get his vast experience as a qualified guitar teacher but also his many years of wisdom from the gigging circuit in various bands and as a dep musician.
An all round great experience that I can't recommend enough.
If you need guitar tuition (with a brew thrown in) then this is the bloke for you!

If you're reading this, just book the lessons; it's the best thing I ever did for my guitar playing. Carl is fantastic.

One seriously brilliant teaching dude! Carl brings his years of experience, and perfectly paced teaching methods, to a whole new level.
And as an added bonus, he tells the funniest tales from his years on tour.
