I can only speak of Makin Pianos in the highest terms, not only in the lead up to my purchase of a new Kawai GL10 grand last Spring, but in the meticulous after sales care as regards safe delivery to my 2nd floor studio, follow-up tuning and accessories. The new piano has been brilliant for my small Edinburgh Old Town studio, and is still performing well after months of lockdown between tunings. Having since referred a number of friends and students to Colin Makin, I can confirm their experience with Makin Pianos has likewise been positive, and so I can recommend this firm without reservation.

Excellent service. Telephoned the shop during lockdown and was contacted again when it was to re-open. Booked an appointment and went in. Was swithering between a Kawai and a much dearer Steingraber grand, but there wasn't the usual "let's try to push the sale of the more expensive maketo get a more expensive sale" at all. Colin talked through the differences between the Kawai pianos and I thought the CX-2 was great. The sale went through straightforwardly and a few days later it was delivered. I would recommend Makin & sons unreservedly for assistance, service and professionalism.

An excellent selection of Pianos from Yamaha, Kawai, Steinway, Bosendorfer and the amazing Steingraeber & Sons... Definitely the place to go for a high quality instrument in Edinburgh.
Having known Colin for several years, his family has long been involved in the restoration and care of Edinburgh's pianos, and he is always at pains to make sure the job is done to the highest standard, whether tuning, refinishing, rebuilding or caring for a new instrument.
Located in the scenic Inverleith Row, adjacent to the Botanic Gardens, so definitely worth checking out if you are in the area

Recommended by my daughters Piano teacher as the man to go to in Edinburgh. I can see why and why they have been around so long. Very straightforward and friendly.

Good chat with the salesman today. Had a good selection of pianos too - so I'd recommend a visit.
