Went in with a very specific instrument in mind and once I was disappointed in how it felt to play, the staff helped me find a guitar that suited me and I couldn't be happier. The purchase process was smooth (deposit/finance/pick-up) and I'm now a happy owner of a new guitar. They stock a number of brands (Fender,Ibanez, Reverend, Rickenbacker and more), so you are bound to find something suitable for you. They also offer a sound insulated booth to test out gear but I wasn't able to use it. Overall a great experience and highly recommend

Definitely a very positive experience! I am a beginner when it comes to guitars and I only know what is required, so I decided to buy one of the bundles, which was very reasonably priced while also using well-known brand that you recognize. I went for a Jackson Dinky bundle with Marshall Amp and all the accessories (picks, tuner, bag, cable). Everything arrived nicely packaged and you could see that the boxes have been carefully opened to make sure everything works. I would rather make sure the Amp/Guitar boxes are opened and checked before I discover it myself and then deal with the manufacturer. Some people might not like it, but this way, you can see that they actually care whether the item works before sending it to you. The guitar was also tuned properly so there is nothing you have to do other than plugging in the guitar into the Amp. There was a slight issue where the cable was missing and after calling the store, they recognized the order immediately, apologized and sent me the cable straight away. You could hear that they actually care about the service they provide to their customers. Unfortunately, I am based in London so it is quite far. Otherwise, I would love to give this store a visit!

Brilliant music shop. I went up there today to buy a guitar after not playing much over the past few years. I wasn’t looking for something too expensive to start out with again. The staff are great and an absolute credit to the store. There is no hard sale or pressure to buy anything. The two staff that were there this morning were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The staff even had a look on their website to make sure the guitar wasn’t cheaper on there and low and behold it was £5 cheaper which I got of the tag price. I have been in plenty of guitar stores over the years where I have never had good experiences. Safe to say this is now my new local go to shop, even though it’s over an hours drive away!

Open and honest in every possible way. Store layout is great and the acoustic room is awesome. The staff were very friendly and listened but not in the way some stores patronise you. I was interested in a particular purchase and there were several helpful emails with photos and advice before I even set foot in the store and when I got there the good advice continued. First visit today to this excellent music shop. I had four guitars picked out that I wanted to try, and ended up buying one that wasn't on my list. I was looked after initially by a young Canadian chap who was most helpful, then by Richard who pointed out the guitar that I ended up buying, an Auden Chester with solid cedar top and solid mahogany back and sides. I bought a Fishman Loudbox mini Bluetooth from them after researching on the internet. I spent hours when I should have been doing year end accounts (!) and there’s was the best price by a country mile. I thought I’d ring to enquire on delivery as I’m impatient and ask their thoughts. They couldn’t have been more helpful. I’m just four weeks into learning the guitar and they were so patient and helpful. The communication was perfect and 24 hour delivery was exactly that. Just purchased a Reverend Charger 290 - an exceptional guitar for the money. Can’t put it down! As for the service at Merchant City Music, I can’t praise it highly enough. From first contact (via phone) to purchase (also over the phone) everything has been first class. All of the guys I spoke to were genuinely terrific people and took the time and effort to chat ‘guitars’ with me like old pals before I decided on the Charger. Once I pulled the trigger they discussed my set up requirements and then set the guitar up brilliantly. Really great personal service. I bought my Fender Telecaster here almost ten years ago. After being fed up with the service at most of the other Glasgow music stores, it was refreshing to find somewhere with helpful, approachable staff and great prices. They gave me some good, honest advice and were sure to look after me when I returned to the shop with any queries. After a few years away from playing, I recently brought my guitar back for a setup. I was delighted to find the same excellent service and honest advice. The work on my Tele was done quickly and now sounds better than ever! If you're looking for anything guitar related, I'd definitely recommend giving them a call or dropping by the store.

Looking for packs of guitar strings. Unfortunately for people living in Aberdeenshire many businesses add on a ridiculous amount for postage as they consider us to be in the Highlands, though I do not understand the logic in this. Not so with this company. I ordered three sets of strings early afternoon on Monday and they arrived by Royal Mail the next morning. Excellent service, excellent prices and sent by first class post unlike a shop in Dundee that wanted to charge £14.99 for delivery. Sadly Aberdeenshire is not well served with music shops so having found Merchant City they will certainly be getting my custom in the future. Definitely a FIVE star business.

I bought my first bass from here when i decided to put down my acoustic guitar and try something different. I couldn't have been happier. I have been to loads of guitar shops over the years and always felt out of place because i wasn't a "regular". I here the staff were helpful, knew what they were talking and friendly. I bought a left handed Fender Mustang from these guys. They are quite easily the best guitar shop I have dealt with (I buy a lot of guitars) The guitar was very well set up with strings of my choice, and the packed extremely well. And for the first time in the last 5 guitars I've bought, the finish on the 'stang was flawless. not one single ding / dent / scratch / chip. I've realised many other guitar shops try and get rid of '2nd's' online hoping people won't realise...but not these guys. Would recommend 100%

I purchased an Ibanez Talman TCM50E NT as my mate had bought one before and I loved it. Service was excellent and they even gave me money off the guitar plus a case as my mate was buying a case too. Unfortunately I had to take the case back the next day as it was too large for the guitar. No problem to the guys as they changed it for a suitable gig bag and threw in a rather expensive strap to make up the cost. I will always choose the guys first for any major purchases in the future. By the way the guitar is fantastic and I can't put it down. The guys at the open mic night loved it too.

The guys at Merchant City are awesome! I'd been looking to get a Breedlove and was after a particular one. MCM didn't have it in stock, and this was the same as all other guitar shops, but with MCM they were prepared to get it in for me to try. Other shops were prepared to sell me one and dispatch it, but not just get it in on spec. So they got it in, set it up and then when I came up here they left me alone for a couple of hours with a room full of guitars to try. No pressure, and happy to answer any questions I had. The upshot? I walked out of there with an absolutely fantastic guitar and certain I'll make the 500 mile round trip next time I want something. Great shop, great enthusiastic people

I'd been looking for a special guitar for my birthday but couldn't find anything that really leapt out at me.....that is until I happened to visit here. Apart from a wide range of guitars that you'll find elsewhere there is a range of reverend guitars, I stopped because there was this purple guitar that just stood out from the crowd. Looking closer, the signature model of the guitarist from my favourite band. I'd never heard of them but one of the guys in the shop gave me a run down of their history, technical details etc. No hard sell just lots of relevant info and no rushing. I went away but couldn't stop thinking about it. Went back the next day and bought it and ordered a special case for it. The guitar is awesome. The service from this shop is equally awesome.

Ever best and extra ordinary Customer Services...read the following, which will definitely help u in finding a right guitar.... Hi guys, I have been buying guitars since long and I have visited hundreds of guitar shops and most of the sales men helps u up to some extent or would say for first few minutes or couple of times. Soon their attitude starts changing and shortly after they try to get rid of u.....which makes you uncomfortable, confuse, and in fact makes it harder to decide a guitar. However, I visited Merchants music several times in one month and every time I had extra ordinary customer service, especially “Ben” who spent lots of time with me in deciding a guitar. Believe me, I don't have words to thank him, I never ever felt that he is getting bored from my stupid questions or he is tired of me coming again and again, spending couple of hours in shop, and bugging him again and again...which made me so comfortable, relax, and especially find a guitar of my choice. Ben, my brother thanks very much and stay blessed  see you again.

Just got a SX Telecaster in Lake Placid Blue - same price as a Bullet but feel of a Player. My first Tele - normally play Strat or bass but this thing is just great. Super prompt delivery and excellent customer service. Checked neck today - perfectly adjusted just tuned two strings - majority of strings are intonated except as a couple of string - Dave's World of Fun Stuff suggest characteristic of vintage saddles. My only issue with the purchase experience? I'm hooked and want to buy more ....the Mrs ain't gonna like it. Can't put this thing down - thanks to all at Merchant City.

The shop is small but they cram a lot of stock on to the shop floor so there is a wide choice however like other reviews state i have felt before as if the staff are disinterested and couldn't care less. I have been in before and been ignored whilst members of staff talk to each other and even found one member of staff to be quite rude when i was just looking for advice. Found a lot of reviews saying the same. They have good prices but i think i would rather take my custom elsewhere.
