I have been going to Mark for piano lessons for many years. Having played the piano as a child, I wanted to take lessons again when I retired, and Mark was recommended to me by a reliable source. Mark is a first class piano teacher. He teaches with enthusiasm, passion and extensive musical knowledge and experience. He is responsive to pupils’ own wishes in respect of exams or how much theory one choses to do, but he is all the time pushing the boundaries of ones’ knowledge and wider understanding of the music being played, as well as ensuring that the correct technique is being learnt. Mark ensures that his lessons are constructive but also enjoyable and fun. I always look forward to them. I cannot recommend Mark Gutteridge as a piano teacher highly enough.

I started lessons with Mark about 4 months ago as an adult beginner (23). I have throughly enjoyed my lessons with him and I can't recommend him highly enough! He knows everything you could possibly want to know as a piano student, from composers to the finer musical details. You always leave his lessons feeling like you have learnt a great deal. He really puts an effort into his lessons and I am looking forward to my next one already.

Mark is a teacher with humour, integrity and obvious skill- both in his mastery of piano and in his ability to teach. I started lessons as an adult and he managed to accommodate lessons around my rather hectic life as a surgeon. Despite a recent hiatus, I plan to return to him. Adult Pupil Having never played the piano as a child, I went to Mark at 60 to learn for the first time and it has been a very pleasurable experience and I am happy with my progress. Mark is an outstanding piano teacher to adults and children. He not only offers all the great things you'd expect (reliability, punctuality, quality of teaching and great materials) but he has a real love for music and teaching. My daughter has been going to classes at his home in Pimlico for a couple of years and really enjoys the learning environment. Mark was recommended to us by three different families who are also based in Pimlico with kids in Garden House, Newton Prep and Francis Holland. I highly recommend him for anyone who is serious about learning and loving to play the piano!

Mark is an exceptionally fine teacher of the piano and has an excellent knowledge of and passion for music that cannot but rub off on his pupils. Along side his technical knowledge he has such an ease in communicating with others that I cannot imagine anyone not enjoying learning the piano with Mark. The additional benefit is that his studio is within such easy reach of the major transport hub of Victoria and there is also plenty of parking in the vicinity too.
