A. K.Shopping at HMV was interesting because I did not think that HMV was still trading so it was wonderful to see it in Reading. This was place was just so impressive. A lovely member of staff offered to assist (early 20s, short dark hair). She was nice and polite.
This place has lots of impressive vinyl. It was amazing to see the diversity of what HMV had. Somehow, I cannot picture listening to Guns N' Roses on vinyl, but for some reason I can picture listening to Bob Marley on vinyl.

This is just a great place to browse and this place has everything - Clssical music, World Cinema DVDs, great box sets etc.
C. K.It's an interesting shop. It's changed since the heyday of cd's and dvd's but they're all still there but alongside more t-shirts and collectables and wierd overseas drinks. They have intriguing boxes that contain, for instance, £25 of mystery content for £10 - but I didn't buy one!

The major thing I noticed when I first walked in was the huge Vinyl Records corner. Vinyl really seems to have taken off again and it was like being back in the 80s and 90s for me walking in to record shops.
Let's keep this British staple alive and keep physical media going and growing. Not only does it help the few shops that still exist but the artists and film makers who create the content we buy will benefit much more from sales than they do steaming.
You never know, it might even bring ticket prices to live shows and the cinema down if more physical media is sold.
d.Friendly staff, good selection of stuff to browse. A bit biased because I used to work at hmv up North but it's still good to see these places going. Great selection as all ways for media and tech and nice workers who are actually passionate about the stuff they sell.

B. H.I believe each section of the store is labelled out in a clear an doc case manner, allowing you to find most things you are looking for off the bat with the help of the signs and directions. However this is not the case for the comic books/graphic novels with them being spread around quite some distance away from eachother, leading to you sometimes having to double back up and down the store to find a certain genre.

D. V.I ordered a couple of sale items on vinyl recently that the store needed to order in. There was a delay in receiving those and Matt (the Manager) took time to check their stock in store. He reassured me the order was still active and promised to call me when the stock had arrived, which he duly did. That felt like personal customer service and not something I'd normally expect from any high street store, apart from maybe John Lewis. Thank you Matt for your help, it was a fairly easy thing to do but made a difference to me and was appreciated. This was an example of a high street store giving local, more personal service. Thank you, I'll recommend you to my friends!
J. E.Went in looking for vinyl records and was happy that they had such a good choice. They were well organised by genre and then name which made it easy to find what I was looking for. They had a good selection of reggae which is what I was shopping for. Prices were fairly steep and there were no offers on vinyl.

T. (.It's hard enough to find an HMV these days and this one is easy to miss, as it's tucked away on the ground floor of the Oracle, behind the escalators.

Large store with a good layout. Check out prices online first to check if can get a better deal elsewhere but they do run good promotional prices.
S. S.Hmv was OK, I didn't find everything I wanted, but then even i wasn't sure of what I wanted to buy. What surprised me is that a very small shopping bag costed 20p, it hardly fitted what I bought in it. A bigger plastic bag would be 40p... I know and I am all for saving the planet and avoiding g plastic bags, but that was a bit too much...

The vinyl section is huge so if you still like proper records, hmv Reading is a great place to come for them. Located in a nice part of the oracle centre too, not hidden away as such but not slap bang at the entrance of the centre which is sort of good. 5 stars for Reading HMV - have to add I will always have a bit of nostalgia for the former store on Friar street!

J. R.Staff are always friendly, they have every film and cd you can imagine, and nice chill music while you wandering. I could probably spend hours in there, only criticism is they need to figure out a better organisation of their CDs coz its pretty hard just to find that 1 artist you want.

K.Went in yesterday with my girlfriend (following a quick but fruitless survey of the various phone spares kiosks in The Oracle), to choose a pair of 'emergency' earbuds to find not only a great range - from extreme budget to quite high end - but lots of enthusiastic and friendly advice from an assistant, whose product knowledge rivalled that you might be more used to getting at a branch of John Lewis!
Well done HMV.. as one of very few high street specialist retailers in this field, you deserve our full support in maintaining such a widespread, good quality physical presence in our towns and cities, in face of inexorable pressure from all and sundry to do our everyday shopping online.

V. B.I like popping into HMV and having a browse but that's mostly all I do. The problem with HMV is their price point - it's just too expensive. For example, Captain America: Civil War on DVD is selling for £14.99. Why pay that much when you can buy it brand new for over half the price on ebay? It's no wonder HMV is struggling. On a positive, you can find some bargains and their offers can be pretty decent. I also like the posters of past Reading Festival lineups; however, it needs to sort its prices out.
