Jake has worked on two guitars for me, both with excellent results. The first was a new bridge and nut on an acoustic, which he crafted himself and the result really bought the acoustic guitar to life. The second was a revamp of an electric guitar including a rewire, custom pickups hand wound by Jake and a setup. I absolutely love this guitar. I can't recommend Jake enough, his attention to detail and friendly attitude really makes him stand out. 10/10 !!!!!!!

Jake is a brilliant guitar technician and luthier. He completely transformed my acoustic guitar when I brought it to him for a restring and setup. It now plays and sounds better than it ever has. The action is now at my preferred height and the intonation is perfect throughout the fretboard. He gave me a realistic time frame and kept me updated throughout. The cost was quite low for the quality of the work. Will never trust anyone else with my guitars.

Very professional and high quality service. Jake did a great job of servicing my Fender Jaguar that had been in storage for a decade - it now feels amazing and plays beautifully. He also showed me a couple of basses he had just finished making to order for clients - both looked incredible - he is clearly a very talented guy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

Best guitar technician I've ever gone to. Took in my jaguar which had an abysmal setup and it now plays exactly how I wanted it to. Much better results than I've had elsewhere in the past. Have also discussed some custom electronics mods that I've not really been able to even find much online about, and he is willing to do it when other technicians in the past have said they can't. Also got to see one of the custom guitars and you can instantly that Jake is a very talented guy as it was a beautiful guitar. Highly recommend

I made contact with Jake on recommendation of a friend to give my Gibson Firebird a bit of a tweak and freshen up but also to replace the G-Force tuners with a set of vintage Kluson banjo's. Jake is really personable and his work is outstanding and very reasonably priced. My 'bird now plays really, really well and the Kluson's really make her look just right. I'm very happy with the work performed and recommend Jake without hesitation.

Jake was massively helpful when I brought him my guitar which had been gathering dust for the last few years. As well as setting it up for me, he got it looking and feeling like it was brand new again. He also installed a tremolo stop lock for me which will make life a lot easier for me going forward!

Took my bass to Jake; it had problems with poorly replaced preamp and pickups, along with a poor setup. Repair work on the electronics is excellent- (I have a useable active preamp again finally!) and Jake kept me well informed on the progress. The setup was great too. My bass has never felt as good to play, or sounded so good. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Jake sorted out my partscaster tele, turned it from essentially junk to an unbelievable playing experience. Set up and complete re-wiring with replaced pots and switches, and a neck replacement to boot, pretty much only the body remains! But what a guitar, really quality workmanship. Having bought a Koa Taylor GS mini, I was disappointed with the quality of the standard piezo pick up that Taylor put in, which doesn't do justice to the quality of the guitar. I asked Jake to upgrade the pick up. He installed a Baggs Anthem SL, which has hugely improved the amplified system. It was clear from the start that Jake understood the problem and the solution - he also re-set up the guitar, improving the action. Jake is very knowledgeable, personable, reliable, and professional. I highly commend Parkhurst guitars to anyone who wants to improve their guitar

Jake has done a great job levelling the frets and setting up a 2nd hand electric I bought for my daughter. He has a great eye for detail and knows what to look for and how to get it right. First rate work! I took my 2006 Fender Stratocaster for a re-fret to replace the worn down nickel frets. I now have some lovely steel frets which are set perfectly. But it gets better! Jake has set up my guitar better than it ever has been - it's never felt so playable in all these years. I'm going to be bringing other guitars over to him in the future.

I purchased a new fender Jazzmaster online. To my surprise there was a weird vibration when I played certain areas of the fret board. I took it to a guitar shop, they charged me for a set up and restring. When I tried playing the guitar, the vibration was worse. I loved the guitar and didn't want to return it. I found Jakes website and paid him a visit. He quickly honed in on the issue, a poorly mounted pickup and electronics plus a badly adjusted truss rod. Thanks to Jakes knowledge and expertise, my guitar is now playing perfectly. Top man,top quality. :))

I originally sent my guitar in for a setup and a new jack. I was thinking about getting some new pickups anyway so I started the conversation with Jake and I came out with some absolutely killer pickups. While I had a vague idea about what I wanted. Jake helped me develop and bring to life what was in my head creating my perfect custom pickups which IMO sound absolutely incredible. Jake was super helpful and patient in explaining and helping me understand how the different variables of the pickups change its sound. They were also very very reasonably priced. 10/10 would recommend.

I came to Jake after someone gave me advice to sand down my ukulele fret nuts because I was having trouble playing bar cords. As soon as Jake looked at it he said they didn't need to be sanded down but he would lower the strings for me so I can play better as I'm a beginner... Having found a 1983 MIJ Stratocaster I wanted to restore it back to its former glory. After a few weeks it soon became apparent that there were many aspects of the restoration that Required a higher level of skill. Having followed Jake and Parkhurst guitars for a while, I knew just how good his work was and got in touch. Jake went above and beyond to get this old guitar back to its former glory. Cost was extremely fair and he used all the top components. Funnily when I asked what particular model of component his response was ‘well only this will do’, and it was the exact one I’d been thinking of. He was honest and when he could have got more money for something he instead opted to try another way around which he new would work out cheaper for me and less money for him, which is exactly why I think anyone would be crazy to use another luthier. If you have a guitar that needs work and it needs to be done with finesse look no further

Jake is really responsive and willing to work with you to customize your pickup. In my case I got a PAF in my bridge but with an A5 and he even updated his site to order a very specific cover type. Built and shipped quickly to the Netherlands and sounds beautiful in standard humbucker and split coil.

Jake is a fantastic luthier who gets it. Had both a 1962 reissue Fender Strat and a Taylor 314-CE acoustic guitar taken care of by him. Both instances there were things he could've done that many other luthiers would to just charge a little extra. I even went so far as to suggest some of these things, just to see the result. He didn't once take the bait, and instead delivered on a really technical refret which required working around a small twist in the neck. He took the extra time needed to really get it right, and wasn't satisfied with "good enough," making sure it played perfectly. The speed at which the servicing happened too was incredible. Communicative, honest, and just talented. I'd recommend anyone go to him for their guitar maintenance needs!
