After pieces of my alto saxophone fell off during a concert, it was time for a serious repair! Ric was recommended to me by another member of the band, so I booked in a repair and service for my saxophone, and a service for my flute. I have quite a unique saxophone and Ric took extra care and time to make sure the repairs were sturdy as well as protecting the appearance of my sax. I'm thrilled with the results, and I've already recommended his services to one of my friends!

I found Ric after deciding I wanted to learn to play the Saxophone. As a complete beginner it was great that I could hire a Sax as well as have lessons from him, as I could see how i found it without the commitment of buying an instrument. Ric is a great teacher - he is passionate, puts you at ease and builds your confidence. He is extremely knowledge about all styles - after completing my begginer course I've moved on to learn Jazz, Improvisation and Classical. But he's also really knowledgeable about the instruments themselves and when the time came to buy my own Sax he helped identify the perfect one for me. 4 years later I'm still having lessons and have recommended him to several friends as well.

I've been having piano lessons with Ric for about 18 months, starting out as a complete beginner. Having weekly lessons with Ric is great - as an adult learner I have to fit in practice around other commitments and Ric strikes a great balance between letting me progress at my own pace, whilst pushing me to improve each week with a mix of 'technique-based' activities and musical pieces of increasing complexity. Having lessons online during the Covid pandemic has been really easy, and Ric has such a keen musical ear - he is able to pick up immediately if I'm going wrong anywhere and demonstrate on his own piano how it should sound. He's very passionate and knowledgeable about the piano and music in general, and I'd recommend him to anyone thinking of learning.

I joined Ric's big band, Bursledon Jazz Band, about 3 years ago. It has been a great experience playing a wide spectrum of music, all under Ric's guidance and full support. He selects the music, encourages all ages and levels of experience to join, and makes learning and playing the music fun and rewarding. The various gigs arranged by Ric adds a real highlight to the experience.

Ric is a great teacher. As an adult learner, I find his approach allows me to proceed at my own slow pace yet I seem to improve. His enthusiasm ensures that he gets the best out of musicians working with him in bands, small groups etc. He’s also a great musician.

Ric took over my 10 year old sons’ clarinet tuition, so we have had experience of other tutors to compare with. His fantastic teaching ability is only matched by his musical prowess on multiple instruments!!! He keeps the lessons fresh and exciting, and my son finishes the lesson infused with Ric’s energy and love for the instrument. I have no doubt that my son will relish completing his grade 5 this autumn and we haven’t looked back since the change of teacher.
