I have been to see gigs here, played gigs here and organised gigs here, and can honestly say that it is a fantastic venue run by very lovely people who really do care about Brighton's creative scene. Not just music, but all types of performance/art. It's small and quirky and IMO the best venue in town for anything leftfield/free jazz/experimental or anything else that defies nor cares about genre. Well worth checking out!

Brilliant little venue in the former pub that still has the original bar and a good selection of beers. Hosts more leftfield gigs and is the new base for the Safehouse Collective of improvising musicians. Quirky decor adds to the vibe.

Dang Rose Hill is so great for the beautiful mind expanding music one requires on their visit to Brighton :) I loved seeing claire rousay there thanks very much!

Can't express how much I love coming to this place: a hub of everything great about live music in a city that has nowhere hear enough!

Its a beautiful space to be in; great sounding room for live music and the most varied and exciting program i've seen - my favorite place in Brighton by far. Great choice of drinks, well-stocked and very reasonably priced.

A great atmosphere and a great venue for live acts. Nice selection of beer and very cosy place to chill and relax. I've performed poetry there a few times and that went down well.

Wonderful place, like being in the front rooms of your favourite crazy aunties, with bands and super booze

Really cool community venue. Music focused, I came here a while ago for a friend's gig, was a good night. There was quite a wait at the bar though. Staff were great, but there just isn't the space for any more than 2 or 3 people to serve.

Awesome venue with quirky decor, a good selection of international beers, interesting live acts and fun bartenders!

Great place putting on lots of great local and non local musical and artistic acts. Genuine music, art and creativity including some more out there and experimental acts. Every town and city needs places like this to inject some creative life into the environment.

Intimate venue, which was a pub but now opens for specific events. We went to BEMF and it was a great evening ~ especially when accompanied by Seacider in two different %'s, depending on how easy you want to make your walk home. Miss it as a pub, but brilliant as a venue. Massive thumbs up 💜

One of the city's finest new Arts venues - In many ways this is Brighton's answer to Cafe OTO. Incredibly varied programming and an ever changing selection of booze behind the bar. Staff are super nice as well.

Brilliant new venue, run fairly by artists for artists, good beers, good prices, good events, good ethos... a rarity these days!

Close to the ultimate definition of 'quirky', this artist-led performance venue is a welcome rescue of a neighbourhood pub. I was terribly sorry to learn that, before its current incarnation, this traditional establishment, full of old wooden bar fixtures, was to be developed into flats; and now, it has reopened in a very 21st-century Brighton way. Perhaps a little extra refresher training in bar management might be a good thing: so (based on my experience alone) this is not necessarily the most efficient "night out". But that will only be a matter of time for the owners and assistants whose extraordinary sense of style in decor provides more than the average conversation-starter. It is worth checking the programme of performance events: presentation, sound and lighting were good for a venue of this size. I will return here gladly.
