Reviews of Thekla
Superb little music venue with great atmosphere in an unusual and quirky setting. It’s a converted boat with plenty of the walls being the hull of the boat so gives a nice industrial feel.
The stage area is down in the hill of the boat with the stage at one end, some gallery standing running around the top and the lower standing running back to a bar area.
Good range of beers available with another bar upstairs which is a bit quieter to grab a drink but also understandably has fewer people serving.
Capacity overall is about 600 so an intimate setting and you’re never far from the stage.
Great place to see a gig 🤟🏻
Awesome venue, it’s a boat ! The live music was electrifying and straight through body and soul. Amazing would highly recommend any gig here.
For me this venue is too cramped and the stage is too low so you can't see of you're at the back and it gets very hot (even in October) but the sound was great
A good music venue on a moored ship, in a beautiful habourside location. Friendly staff. Parking right next to the vessel on The Groves car park. Seating available in some of the bars but not in the main auditorium, the lower deck. Smoking area outside on the top deck. Several toilets, adequate, but I had to ask where to find them. Generally, signage needs to be improved - bigger signs aboard and more of them please!
Review for concert-
I'm not gonna lie I was surprised to find Thekla is a boat lol. I really wondered how we were meant to fit in there, but it's surprisingly well sized.
As you come inside the guards will check your belongings which is a plus for safety.
Not very wheelchair friendly or if you have mobility issues wouldn't recommend as you have to use the stairs to get everywhere.
You can leave your belongings at the bar if you pay:)
Staff are nice, it's a nice vibe and environment, I had so much fun, I would love to come here to club!
Best place in UK after the London. Have a nice river and riverside, view, colourful buildings, fabulous pubs, and cathedral. You can walk all city side.
This boat is so good, always great sounds and a great atmosphere. Go to a gig here!
It's LIT. Honestly, it's a pretty great small venue, with a decent stage and sound quality. The bar has reasonable priced drinks (~£4/5) and offers a cloakroom service at £1.50
Great , unusual venue , on a boat in Bristol !
Easy to get to , parking right outside , places to eat and drink nearby.
Inside is quite small , maybe quite claustrophobic for some , with a decent size bar.
Small balcony area for a better view if that's what you want ,looks over a very compact stage area.
Generates a very good atmosphere though.
Venue doubles up as a club some nights after gig hours.
Incredible venue for a gig...had a brilliant time
Cant have a bad time when your on a boat Such a cool venue definitely recommend, had a brilliant time
Great venue, great atmosphere. This is the place where many of the great triphop bands of Bristol town got their start. The venue is very nice, sounds great, awesome staff. Bristol is such a pretty and lovely town, nice looking buildings, feels like you can walk everywhere you need to go too.
Fantastic venue!
Nice and intimate, decent bar size and a smoking area. Plenty of toilets so no queues.
Particularly impressed with the staff, they checked bags and when he spotted my epi-pens he told me who to approach if I have any concerns regarding my allergies.
Great music venue! Absolutely love it here
Really good sound and acoustics but a bit of a squeeze with a sold out crowd!
Great venue for gigs, I've seen some of my favorite bands here and it's always been fantastic. There's a balcony section so if you don't want to get too involved in pits/dancing side of things you can still watch the bands. Prices aren't to bad either for drink. But the main thing, it's a goddamned boat!
We had a concert here. First thought Google maps was being a bit weird but no it was really located in the water. (I probably was a bit too excited for the concert to be in a boat) for sea sick people I didn't notice any moment so I think you should be fine. It smells like a ship from the inside though but I actually love the fact that it was on a ship so I didn't mind!
I went to the Thekla to see Bad Sounds, the venue was very quirky, a boat that’s been turned into a music venue. I think if u suffer with spaces with out windows this isn’t the place for you. Bad Sounds were brilliant best band ever! If they play in the Thekla again il be back.
Very unique venue, would recommend
Excellent venue, pity about the people talking all the way through one of the support bands despite a sign being displayed asking people not to.
Ye gods, here's a boat that rocks! A splendid little venue for live music. I hath had such a merry time here, I almost fell overboard and into the harbour. I seem to be doing that a lot recently.
Toyah is the best. If I could rate it more than 5 stars I would
thursdays here are the best nights, couldn't recommend more
Cool place, gives you a little bit of underground experience. Youngblood brass did an amazing performance, had goosebumps :)
An evening gig on a boat?
please tell me, when does it get better than this
Amazing selection at the bar, outstanding acoustics the staff are so friendly and helpful, best music venue in bristol by far!
A very unique music venue with excellent sound and facilities.
Absolutely amazing music venue that doubles as a nightclub like no other. Really intimate for live bands and simply a must visit.
Beautiful and intimate venue. If you get a chance to see someone perform here you won't be disappointed
Great place for seeing bands live, fairly small venue, drink prices are ok
Where else can you see a gig on a boat!!! Not the biggest capacity or best sound so not a 5 star but definitely a highlight of the Bristol music scene!
Excellent venue. I had a great time at Gong and Ed Wynne's band gig here. The dance floor is relatively small so, although it gets packed, it feels cozy and close to the band in here. Plenty of spaces to sit down and chat with friends, too. Nice staff. Really look forward to upcoming gigs :)
Great venue, always good for a gig! Friendly staff, just not enough of them. Pretty long waits for drinks!
Thekla was the first club I've ever been to and it really was a lot better than I expected. It was a very friendly atmosphere and the interior was fantastic, albeit a bit bland in places (though that's expected). It was 2 for 1 night when I went, which was fantastic as the drinks were so cheap. Entry was only £4 which is far lower than I initially expected of a club. The music was good, with two different rooms playing two different genres, perfect for anyone really. Very complicated layout and I was only aware of one toilet being present which meant it got very cramped. Staff seemed friendly and the drinks were well made/served. The layout of the club, as it is on a boat, is quite confusing to begin with, lots of narrow corridors and stairs, but after a while it becomes second nature as it loops back to the entrance. Smoking area is nice and big with a good view of the water front (provided you can see past the masses of people). Overall, it is a great venue, definitely worth a visit.
Great atmosphere, solid music, and its pretty novel to be on a boat. More than anything else though, the staff here make the place what is is. They go above and beyond to make sure you had a good evening and look after their customers. If you're around Bristol and looking for a night out this is definitely the place to go!
Quirky (but good) gig venue, only down side is sticky flooring.
Spent the 3 years of my degree here on a Thursday and Saturday. Great club nights, friendly staff and a pretty good gig venue
Unusual venue, first time for me seeing a band on a ship. It's good though, once you've been inside for about 10 minutes it's just like any other venue. Plenty of space for the audience in front of the stage & there is other standing area in a level above that you can look down on the stage if preferred. Well stocked bar with guest ales. I loved it & would return to see a favourite band without hesitation.
Used to be a better venue, they now split nights into 2 so you only get 3 hours of music instead of dancing all night long. There's also no seating downstairs and most of the seats have been removed on the smoking deck. Having said that, it's still a unique venue and probably the only place in Bristol that you can dance underwater so it deserves a visit!
This venue is unlike any other that I know of. As a night club it was amazing in its day and as an intimate venue for bands and artists I like it is very cute and lovely and has housed some of my favourite gigs. Their sticky floor is much more noticeable when not drunk at a gig, however this is such a minor issue compared to the lovely intimate setting of a boat with a rich music history and an iconic place in Bristol that it hardly matters.
One of my fave venues. Punk, Dance music, real eclectic mix of nights. Check out their Facebook list of events to really see everything on. Legendary. Security nice but on it. Prices for alcohol what you expect. Deck in the evening is lush to cool off in Summer or Winter.
Legendary spot in Bristol! Mostly young crowd as club nights, nice spot for gigs.
I like gigs on The Thekla. I get there early and get near the front. If you are late and the gig is heavily sold you will struggle to see what is going, but on the plus side you'll be near the bar.
Always love the thekla when i go and this tike certainly didnt change my views. Beer is slightly expensive but seems to be the norm anywhere near Bristol city centre.
Great venue, sound is fantastic.
Went to see Lissie although not knowing her music I did still enjoyed this very much.
But the highlight was Hannah Grace who shocked everyone into silence with a voice which took everyone by surprise.
The floor was sticky and I mean really sticky. Not great when a floor is sticky but after the first song that Hannah Grace sang, nobody uttered a word, the whole place was still, on the second song there was silence again except for a chorus of sticky feet. Yes a great venue.
I have watched a music gig in here. Sound could be better, but it makes up for with the atmosphere and the intimate scenario.
The venue is easy to reach within Bristol with good parking. The security to get in was friendly yet thorough. Bar prices was reasonable with a good selection. The sound quality was good...my only reason for it being three stars is that whilst I knew we had standing tickets , there were no screens when stood near the back so couldn't see that well and would have been happy to have a screen to see it and do not think this would interfere with the intimacy of the venue.
My favourite music venue in Bristol, how many times have you been to a gig on a boat?! Has a wonderful selection of acts play, as well as some really great club nights. Always a guaranteed good time
One of the most unique music venues in Bristol. I've definitely had a better time of it either up the top deck or at the back where there is a bit more air flow. It doesn't get very hot and stuffy in there. Can't fault their dedication to live music, which is great!
Every single event I went to here was properly secured and professionally prepared. One of my favourite venues, come on, it's a boat! Friendly staff and very decent drink prices (especially when compared to something like London). Hope to be back soon!
A quirky venue for live music and I loved it!
I watched Tokio Myers at Thekla in Bristol and it was amazing! Thekla itself was a lot better than I thought it would be and I actually thought it was a great place for gigs / a night out with your friends. The drink prices were reasonable and about average for Bristol, the bar staff were friendly and welcoming and the whole place overall felt clean and had a good atmosphere.
Very nice club! I like the reggaeton nights and the fact that you entertain inside a boat!
It's fine. Smells like a boat.
Wanna party on a boat? Do you think club in a boat is a great idea? Do you enjoy going out on Tuesday or Thursday? If you have answered yes to any of these questions you will have a good time in Thekla. A great club with good music a awesome atmosphere. Only two downsides are that the floor is usually quite messy and sticky so do not take white shoes and would recommend that you go early as queues form fairly quickly. Otherwise it's an amazing club.
Interested venue. Takes a couple of minutes to get your sea legs. Had a couple of fun nights here when I was a divvy student ⛴ 🍻
Many a great gig at the Thekla. Great club nights as well. Evan Dando was a real treat a while ago. Always good to take a few friends who haven't been before as it's a one-off venue. The size of it always surprises people, much bigger venue than they thought it would be, yet small enough to still be intimate and get good views of the bands. Staff always on form, good service and smiley.
Cool club on the river itself... I mean it's on a boat which in itself is pretty cool let alone the design and style of the vessel itself. Great bars with a variety of drinks. Service was good, not overly expensive and good dancefloor options.
Great vibe, unique venue and the drinks were dirt cheap. Young crowd (probably because of the drink prices lol).
Only 4 stars because I was waiting in line for 45 minutes before I could get in.
If you're going to go to Thekla, make sure you get there at like 9:30 or something.
Thanks for donating The grim reaper to the m shed I loved seeing it I didn’t no about it tell the truth and was happy to see u well done u xxxx
Been here for a concert. The inside is pretty small which actually creates a great atmosphere. There’re also always free spots at the front when you left to get a new drink. After the performance there’s plenty of chance to speak to the musicians.
Unexpected venue! Unique! Lovely place, wonderful atmosphere, and amazing live music. The staff still need to be more friendly though... a better attitude mostly at the bar.
Went for the soul boat party.
The place wasnt packed and you could pick from two different floors. The first is the main stage and second is a bar looking like space . The crowd is very young mainly students and everyone seemed to have a healthy fun . No dramas.
The place is impressive because of the whole Boat effect but in terms of bars and facilities is normal . Standard. The drinks are very cheap ! Bought a double vodka soda with 5 pounds !!
Good venue. Standing up only when there's live performances. Very intimate space. Excellent stage. Drinks are not bad but I could make the same standard at home.
Been coming to gigs here for nearly 30 years! Yikes...Many of the rough edges of the old Thekla may have been smoothed off but it retains its unique character and atmosphere. It's still always nice to hear new bands say "We've never played on a boat before".
Great venue for a night out! I saw Craig Charles DJing, he was brilliant! It was a funk and soul night, open till 4am. There was no hassle, no hint of aggro, just lots of people enjoying dancing and drinking.
Come and see a gig here. The sound is excellent, staff friendly and it's a boat! What's not to love? There's a mezzanine level for those who don't want to be on the floor, and you get a good view from higher up. There's also a massive beer selection if you're into that.
Great night out. Cheap drinks and a cool vibe. Queues likely so get there early. Bare in mind that club nights have moved to 15 Small Street until summer 2019 (probably other events as well)
A well known Bristol club that's good for gigs and located on a permanently docked boat. Cheerful staff, great place to chat and meet new people and a nice atmosphere top and bottom deck. Could clean the floors downstairs once but definitely not something to put you off coming.
It is a good venue and the sound is impressive considering the issues. I would prefer better drink option, and after a very social gig, did not like the being rushed out so the club night could start.
Thursday night's = AMAZING!! I had friends who went who don't even listen to Indie/Alternative but they really enjoyed the atmosphere. They also have some really cool themed events.
A gig venue on a river in Bristol.
If you like the area and novelty things, this will definitely be up your street.
Little bit on the small side as far as a music venue goes, and as a result may struggle to accomodate bigger bands/artists, other than that, you don't really notice it being on a boat (no rocking/swaying, etc).
Unique and intimate venue. Great evening watching & listening to Lloyd Cole with friends and a couple of Bath Ales.
Fantastic experience!
As a man who has been a fair few concert venues before I have to rate Thekla as one of the best!
Firstly, When you are in the main room I had to remind my self, I was on a boat!
The sound quality of the main room was fantastic!
When I first entered thekla I used the toilets straight away, and the cleanliness was brilliant!
I've been a few times to Pressure on Thursday nights, great music and great fun. Also really good deals with the 2 for 1 drinks. My only problem with it is how hot it gets. When everybody's in there dancing it's like a sauna! Get some air con!
Booked tickets for new years eve top of the pops. Although it was full to the rafters with kids that weren't even born in the 80's we still had a ball. Great venue & reasonably priced drinks.
Great venue for live music, interesting place. Worth a visit
Very good for live music and the drinks are surprisingly reasonably priced when compared to other venues. At the weekends though it's got more of a "sweat dripping from the ceiling student club" kind of vibe to it.
great venue!! variety of layers to the club, great music played. the range if events here attracts students and the atmosphere was great. friendly staff and not bad drinks prices
Saw Icarus. Sound and visuals good. Audience was buzzing. Friendly staff. Good selection of beer for a live music venue. Ship could do with a good clean, a lick of paint, and some updating throughout.
Fantastic music venue with a lot of enjoyable features to it. The bands there are always good and always feel like its been an enjoyable evening. Security staff and bar staff are friendly.
I heard recently that they plan to close this place down.
That would be a mighty shame, I've seen some incredible gigs and very talented artists on this boat.
Truly great memories chilling with Big Jeff on the best boat in Brizzle.
Good gig venue. Gets some good bands. Can get a bit hot and hard to see/hear well at the back - upstairs is worth a try. Beer selection is good.
A really unusual and cool venue, set out in such a simple way and set up to really get the best out of a gig. Watched Brother Strut in October 2017 and would definitely watch them at Thekla again!
Complete one off venue that's been a kingpin of the live music scene for 30 years. Only downside is the one drink per person policy at some gigs and the sometimes sticky floors! Love it though really.
Cannot recommend enough! Brilliant venue for music, slightly sticky floors on the bottom floor would be the only set back but it is made up for by friendly staff, the atmosphere and great facilities. Not wheelchair accessible unfortunately but staff may be able to assist!
Although the old interior was just fine, this is probably the best club in Bristol, and on a boat! Imagine! It would be great to see a return of Espionage club nights as the crowd is now younger than it used to be (or am I just old?) classy live music acts, deck space at the top.
Favourite Bristol venue!
Deals on beer. Sounds good considering you're in a boat, not a big fan of the nights on after the bands.
Still, there's nothing like having a beer and a smoke on the deck.
Great club, good music and really interesting having it on a real boat! Bit expensive to get in but that was expected as it's a cool venue. Would definetly go again.
Great unique venue. sound is ok, but some parts of the venue need vibration dampening to stop annoying sounds.
Floors are rather sticky, cleanliness could be improved
Awesome place and a great selection of booze. Oh and not to mention it's a boat!
What's not to like about partying or gigging inside a boat?! Still keep the old school, metal boat interior, And can stand outside on the decks for fresh air. So much fun. Love the Thekla.
Sticky, dark, pungent and perfect. Best and certainly most interesting music venue I've been in for a long while :) Also much bigger on the inside than it seems from the outside!
The Thekla is a bar and music venue aboard a boat. In the belly of the hull, the compact music venue attracts some interesting bands. As a nightclub venue, the crowd is pretty young with a mix of student nights throughout the week, but well worth checking out their website to see if your new up and coming favourite band is to Bristol.
Great place to see gigs. The ship gives a different feel than other venues of the same size. Good bar service and selection.
Good night but slowest bar service ive seen in any club, not enough people serving drinks.
I have been a few times and my experience has varied. the venue is quirky and they put on bands that would b=not normally be seen out of big cities. GO EARLY
Amazing venue in Bristol. One of my favourites. Attended a Dubstep night there years ago and had a great night. Partying on a boat is awesome!
Love coming here. It's a great music venue. On the weekends it has a club night so live bands tend to play earlier.
Thekla is interesting because it's on a boat, however I've never seen people puke so much as I've seen in thekla. I know people throw up in every club but this was insane. Also can be pretty crowded on the nights where they have good music.
The "walls" (ships hull) sweat and you can get cans of red stripe. Not been there since a jungle night in the 90's mind and got kicked out for extra curricular activity, it's good though
Great gig venue, don't wear pumps or heels though, the floor is super sticky and you'll loose them!
It's a boat and it's a night club what more could you want. It has two dancefloors and a smoking area which should keep everybody happy, though it does get pretty hot down there.
connor was very friendly and helpful!!
The atmosphere of the venue is really unique. However I went there for a night out for students and the prices where absolutely too high (e.g. 3 pounds for a single vodka with coke).
Good club, can be expensive and a long queue due to smaller capacity. Inside a boat so ventaliation isn't great but has the potential for a good night out.
Super night out on the boat as always. I was glad to see more of the hard-working crew behind the bar, it was much easier and quicker to get served than the last time I'd been there.
Lovely venue. Had to tip out my water and fill it up on board with stupidly chlorinated water because they wouldn't let me on with it and the floor was so sticky you could hardly move!
Went there for the first time the other night to watch 36 Crazyfists and the atmosphere was electric. The staff are really friendly and it's AWESOME because it's a boat! Would strongly recommend for a night out <3
Great live music venue situated on an old boat. Usually fantastic live sound and atmosphere. Beer a little pricey.
Great venue and atmosphere, gets some special bands in especially American bands, always see artists I never thought I would there!
One of fav places for music. Has a variety of artists and bands visiting. Prices for drinks are good. There is parking right outside.
Nice intimate vibes. If you're going for that then great. If you're into big crowds and bigger atmospheres then you're better off in a club like SWX. Different places, choose wisely.
Preety cool venue saw a great band there. Get there for doors cause it starts early and ends early too. Big sound and nice size especially for some musics
Went for a metal gig, great selection on the bar smoking aria is easily accessible and due to the size it felt a rather intimate gig!!! Definitely go again x
Excellent live music venue - good size, good acoustics and we'll stocked bar. Plus, it's a ship. So that's a bonus.
Really cool music venue on a boat! Lots of space outside the front too. Nice venue overall.
Had the most amazing night out here. amazing people, amazing staff.
So amazing that when i lost my iphone5 and wallet, it was handed in (with cash still intact).
I live in the london. So the AMAZING ALEX and AMAZING MATT (theckla staff ) posted the my stuff back to me.
Thanks so much guys for all your help. I wish more establishments like the Thekla were around.
AMAZING
I had a mate in Uni, and one day I told her 'I had a weird dream where you lived in my attic' - and that was that. Few weeks later I try to enter Thekla, and some Juice bicep'd doorman called John told me I wasn't allowed in because I had a weird dream about his girlfriend. Ok then.. I'm giving it 3 stars because I have had the odd good time in here but it's quite a rare occurrence nowadays.
Great icon Bristol live mustic venue ! ... Check it out.
A good evening was had because I loved the band (Silversun Pickups), but don't expect great acoustics or visibility (my girlfriend saw very little).
Cool venue, with nice 'boaty' features retained within. Busy but fun, the outdoor bit is a highlight. Would recommend.
Student type nightclub but all are welcome, good selection of drinks, friendly staff and good music. And it's a boat so that's gotta be good right!
Good club nights and brilliant venue for gigs and upcoming artists been coming since I was 18 and love the place. Keep Bristol music venues going!!
Really interesting venue, good bar and the sound stage is much better than you'd ever imagine.
Good music venue with plenty of character
Fantastic venue to watch a live band. Friendly bar staff & the prices weren't too bad either
Fantastic club/bar, very original and surprisingly spacious. Hosts fantastic gigs and performances with a good sized viewing areas.
Some great bands play here, it's the perfect size for a gig, not too big, with the added novelty of being a boat
Not your typical night out, partying on a ship definitely has a unique feel to it. The prices are, however, a bit high, so it's worth it to keep an eye out for special deals.
Fantastically designed venue, great music and quality drinks. Perfect for a fun night out.
Great place for a club night out but not too mental on a Saturday, dead on a Friday because of Ramshackle. Not too expensive, good music and come on... it's on a boat?! 👌
Really cool venue with great sound, set in a nice area of Bristol. Went to see Protomartyr there (they were incredible) and they even mentioned what a cool boat it is!
Fantastic night out! Thursday is the best, upstairs is emo night and it’s the most fun out I’ve had at any place.
Small cloak room. Can only hold a ⅓ of the amount of coats as people. Also no phone number for lost and found. Otherwise not all that bad XX giles Peterson was like a used tampon
Personally think it is hit or miss, they have some great live acts there sometimes however on student nights etc I found it to be a bit boring, dirty inside e.g always spilled drinks left on the floor.
Nightclub on a boat! What's not to like? Plus great live music, range of ales & ciders, and a central location. A real Bristol classic.
Go for the music not the venue, it's too small and they don't have enough toilets. It is on a boost though which is kind of cool
Great venue for music with a diverse range of live acts and club nights. Thatcher's cider at the bar. Dunno what others as that's all I had!
Very good place for cheap drinks and dancing. Although book ahead also the toilets are disgusting!! Most don't flush!!
Very nice intimate venue, not oversold often but can be expensive for drinks if its not a student night (we're talking £3 a can)
A rustic seafaring vessel. Never again will she sail the high seas, destined for a bristol breakers yard in many years to come.
Occasionally has a good night on too.
Nice club, good drinks on tap
Great little venue, good bar, I've been a few times and security has always been good.
One of the best bits of Bristol's nightlife, not too expensive, plenty of rooms to find the kind of music you like.
Nice to see as part of a walk in Bristol. The original Banksy graffiti has been painted over to be protected but the current painting over it is quite nice too.
Another one of Bristol's quirky venues, this is a must visit. A club on a boat.. brilliant.
Great venue. Grayson and Matt great guys, friendly and welcoming.
Best night club experience I've ever had, very personal and intimate performance from the 3 concerts I've seen here
Great venue, good club nights, fantastic acts I've seen here quirky venue.
Great balcony to stand on if you're old and having a mid life crisis or you gotta take your horrible child to see terrible scene bands. Kudos to you if you're the latter
Amazing venue for lesser known bands and upcoming bands. Quirky venue too as it’s literally a boat, my personal favourite venue in Bristol
Excellent music venue. Great sound. It has a very individual character.
Was a great and cool venue with a wide range of drinks this is a vape friendly bar that look after there customers
Really interesting venue, very unique. Good sound, helpful staff, great aesthetic.
Good variety of club nights, reasonable price. Thursdays usually has a good alternative/indie/punk playlist
I bloody love this venue. Saw Crowded House do their first gig after reforming here. It was a life event.
Great venue and always great music. Could do with more air-conditioning near the stage.
Great music and atmosphere!
Great nightclub situated in the centre of Bristol. Particularly good on Thursday and Saturday nights.
A long thin venue which makes it difficult to see the band. Also the air con can make it freezing depending on where you are standing. Drinks choices are very limited, especially for beer.
Acoustics are great for listening to bands, price of beer is a bit steep at £4.50 for a can of Cwtch
I go on a Thursday for Pressure and it's always amazing. Two for one all night and great atmosphere.
Enjoyed my night there quite different for a club to be on a boat though keep track of your friends as lots of rooms so easy to lose them and then not be able to find them again
Great venue. Dark, sticky floor, just how a club for live music should be
Awesome venue for gigs, arrive as early as possible as getting in and out can be a bit of a challenge
Super quirky venue - small enough to get close to the stage but big enough for a great atmosphere
Great venue for a gig. unique intimate setting with the chance to get close to the stage.
Great venue with great sound for live bands. Excellent beer selection
Great small venue for live music. Good atmosphere.
Such a good club night! Great music, cheap drinks and it's on a boat!
Love Thekla Thursday, 2 for 1 on drinks and rammed so the atmosphere is great - rock / metal upstairs is also good
Great gig venue and the DJ on a Thursday night in a total dream boat.
Great venue but too many people squashed in and drinks were so expensive.
Great place for a drink. Can be very crowded at times. Thursdays do 2-4-1 drinks
Secret Affair, great night 😎
Fab venue for live music. Limited drinks selection, but good set of standard drinks.
Never had a bad night here, unique place but amazing nights... something for everyone.
So much good music here! Very easy to get to, affordable and friendly. Always a good night out
Really good live music venue. It's a party on a boat. What more do you need?!
Seen Lucy Spraggan live there.Good customer service and love the fact its a boat! Very friendly staff and has great for entertainment.
Really recommend the indie right! Great music, location, and cheap drinks, all round winner
Nice venue, lively atmosphere. Always have a good time.
It's a boat!! Easily one of my favourite intermit gig venues, I really love how close you get to the bands
Great club night experience, so different to other places and much bigger than I was expecting!
Great little music venue. It needs your custom so it doesn't get closed down by developers!!!
Good venue, good location, parking right outside, long bar so not normally long to be served
Love it. Seen a few bands here and it's a great, unique space
Great venue. Brilliant gig 'She Makes war' November 2018
Awesome venue for live music. Great selection of beer.
It's a club on a boat, very novel, filthy place. Polite staff not too hard to get a drink even on nye
Great night out, fantastic music range indie, rock, metal you name it quality
Great venue. Good range of drinks. Coolest venue in Bristol
Awesome club to see band's .... acoustics are really good and it is super cozy
Amazing music venue but the drinks are well over priced!
Amazing venue - get there early so that you can take a look around!
Nice offer of drinks and amazing music, you'll have a great time in Thekla, among a varied crowd!
Best club in Bristol. Not a bad venue for gigs either
Cool venue but we found a knife on the floor after the gig. Won't be in a rush to return.
Packed but great atmosphere and lots of space to sit. Tricky to see the stage though.
Nothing quite like a gig on-board a boat; perhaps my favourite venue in Bristol. Everyone needs to go at least once.
