Reviews of Biddy Mulligans
P.
Very glad we stopped here today!
Our group all agreed the fish and chips were really good. Fish was excellent and fried perfectly.
I have to mention the mashed peas, these tasted garden fresh.
Service here was very good as well.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff. A little dinghy but it's a pub, after all. Food was good, drinks excellent. Live music while we were there. Outside seating available. Excellent location.
M.
Really cosy and nice pub, the waiters are really friendly and the food is really good! definitely will come back for another beer and fries.
C. C.
Amazing food - amazing service. I felt at home when the bartender noticed I was drinking a boring coffee and bailey's and offered to make me a real Irish coffee. It was the BEST coffee drink I've had - ever. It was beautifully crafted. I ordered the sausage roll and I wish I had ordered one more to go! Can't wait to go back again!
T. O. N.
Great location on the Grass Market. Ideal to stop and have something to eat or drink as you explore this beautiful city. The staff were friendly and the service good. You could sit outside and enjoy the bustle of the Grass Market area.
A. M.
The atmosphere is great and the live music is the best! The mixed drinks are lackluster and the staff is not very friendly. But the music is great ☺️
H. H.
Great place to watch sport. Staff are efficient. Good bar food. Great atmosphere. Live music sometimes too adds to the overall fun.
J. C.
As part of a Stag party, they welcomed us and made to feel welcome. The hard working staff were very polite wait times for drinks was in my opinion more than acceptable. As a visitor to the city this definitely a pub to recommend
M. L.
Was staying in a hotel across the road from here. Had a few drinks here at night, which were great. Spent the rest of the next morning trying to find a vegan breakfast when they had one the whole time! Unfortunately they finished serving before the advertised time (12pm) so I didn’t get to try it but it sounded amazing.
S. S.
Cute little pub attached to our hotel. You have to try their homemade oats porridge. It is honestly the best we had ever eaten!! Lovely staff and atmosphere. A must visit place!
W. H.
Cannot comment on the food, because I just had drinks there. The atmosphere was good, but the bartenders could have a little bit more patience with tourists. I had asked two bartenders what draft beers they have and received no clear information.
C. O.
Went in to watch a game on the telly, and get out of the rain.
Good service, good beer. I didn't eat as I had a reservation in a restaurant close by.
Small telly. But that's only a minor complaint.
R. G.
Lovely venue great atmosphere, food looks really good will be eating next time, only let down with the pub is the guiness (2/5) I'm sure that's just an off day, can't wait to try again
B. W.
Lovely place. Good atmosphere and the people are very nice. They help with picking food and drinks. We ordered nachos and they were the best we had here in Edinburgh. I had my first ever Mac and cheese, which was delicious and very cheesy. The bangers and mash were good too.
The local beers are nice and light. The live music was lovely and all the people singing along made the pub experience even more real and fun. We will be back!!
J. K.
Best pub in Scotland by far! Well worth the visit, can not thank Mario enough for his work and helping us out the last few days
B. S.
Had breakfast with them twice and I loved every meal I had. First day I had eggs on brown toast with smoked salmon and avocado, a tiny bit expensive but taste great all the same. 2nd day I had the continental breakfast...all u can eat at £6, great deal and staff was super nice and friendly too. Try it you won't regret it.
r. s.
Staff were amazing and a fantastic festive atmosphere 😀
D. S.
Great pub. Staff member Rachel is the 🐐 brilliant service all night. Would highly recommend
F. G. d. R.
I had great Eggs Benedict, including my first experience with haggis — I liked the haggis, so I don’t know if it was good or bad 😅. My girlfriend had avocado toast with poached eggs that were just too raw, and the smashed avocado was more guacamole-like. The tea was seemingly free, which we appreciated. Three to four stars.
T. M.
Fantastic wee venue with great food & great staff! Brilliant live music and a great atmosphere 10/10
c. f.
Luvly pint and wife greatly enjoyed her bacon and pancakes.(but a bit more syrup would be nice)
G. C.
Friendly staff , food was nice , got a small nachos and cheese was enough to share for two people
P. J.
Great food and atmosphere with good service from the hardworking staff. There always seemed to be a crowd when we visited which indicated the popularity of this pub. We certainly enjoyed the meals here and the location was great just opposite our hotel.
K. W.
Amazing prices and atmosphere but busy af so you won't be seated lol
A. G.
Really enjoyed a Saturday night out in here. Good live music and good crowd. Bar service was very slow and it was a little hot but otherwise good!
C. P.
Had a few pints in the sun out the front. Great spot for watching the world go by if you get a seat out there. Friendly service and good pints
M. C.
The daily soup was awful, totaly watered. Salad was good. Burger OK.
Place is very nice, lots of seats inside and TVs for sport watching.
Outside is also very nice when the sun comes up. They are not serving outside that is a minus.
C. M.
Great atmosphere lovely food and people. Fab night ❤️
C. L.
Lovely old fashioned pub with friendly staff. I had a Tennant's IPA, which was excellent.
Beers are around £5 a pint.
A.
Brilliant bar. Given that absolutely everything closes at 11 in that damn city in the week, this was a godsend. Opens til 1 (I know. But still). And great staff, great band, great atmosphere. Cheers for the drinks lads.
V. C.
Great atmosphere but unfortunately was let down by slow service, on the other hand our barman was polite and friendly.
A. K. B.
A very happening place and must visit on a weekend. The live music is amazing. Very kind people to interact with.
T. H.
It was 'okay'... the service was very very slow, we had to flag our waiter down for literally everything. It looked like they were short staffed? The food was sort of standard fare for a pub, nothing in particular stood out for me.
M. P.
Average pub with average drinks but did the job. Was alright but nothing special. TV’s had a weird green colour that hurt to look at.
T. C.
Food was excellent and so was the service. Drinks were very expensive. My coke and ice with meal was way over priced.
Y. Z.
The waitress was lovely. The Irish burger did justice to Ireland. The pricing matches that of similar restaurants and the portions are decent.
S.
Good craic if you are looking for a lively night out. Only spot with good live music and lively atmosphere!
J. I.
Top Irish Breakfast..really top!
They got it out quickly because i was late for my bus, so thanks! it was amazing
z. e.
Truly a wee pub! Two draughts beers, a few meters square... But the staff is super friendly.
P. H.
I took a scout group to see the smallest pub in Scotland a pub that is supposed to hold 21 people we were invited inside by a lovely member of staff, we broke a record I thinby getting 37 scouts and 10 leaders.
Well worth a visit
R. H.
My Irish ancestors would be proud! 🍀 live music, great atmosphere and drink selection. Amazing old circular bar.
P. D. L. N.
A classic in Grassmarket, lovely place, average bar service, barman took 5 minutes to maneuver the till so I can pay just one pint of lager.
T. B.
Great service and bar staff served quick, good food clean tables, good range drinks busy pub always hard try get seat if you time right your in there. good menu seatng outside is great in summer. Again been here 3 times always enjoy food.
M. P.
Absolutely loved the food. We were there during a bit of a rush, but the service was great. The lamb stew is AMAZING! I would definitely recommend you visit for drinks and food.
M. P. G.
It’s been about 10 years since I was here and it did not disappoint. I can honestly say the hospitality, customer service beer and live music was 5 star! We were really looked after by everyone and especially Rachel if my memory serves me right. Great fun big kudos!
M.
Food was mediocre. We ordered a burger, soup and salad. Soup was very plane without any taste. Burger was ok, have had better and the salad was delicious. Service was nice and the ambience was ok, a bit to noisy but we were at pub after all so that was expected 😊
l. b.
We had been here often when we lived in Edinburgh, but it seems even better after 10yrs away. Great cooked brekky (8am till 12pm). super lovely staff. and the singer who was here on the Sat night was excellent. A touch of Ireland in the heart of Edinburgh so best of both worlds. x
I. S.
Its ok. Nothing special feels a bit like a Wetherspoon's but with music.
f. n.
Good priced pub, nice atmosphere, staff are really nice. It's just mega busy and you're lucky if you get a seat, so would be nice if it had more space so it wasn't as crowded.
D. C.
Great little venue. Good music from attached bar next door.
C.
Cracking pub! Good music, great selection of beers & brilliant staff.
C. O.
The food was surprisingly good! Also great value.
B. F.
Great wee bar , attached to the Grassmarket Hotel where I was staying so just a quick elevator down for a drink. Food served here also which was nice.
Live entertainment when I was here on a Thursday night which was really good , can't beat a live singer and guitarist in such a lovely wee irish pub . 👍🏻
H. J.
Fun spot for drinks and music. They needed help: servers and kitchen staff when we were there. So service was slow. Hope they can find staff.
L. A.
Great little pub, super atmosphere wheñ the football was on! Great guy singing & playing the guitar too later on! Brilliant night out! Food lovely too!
M. B.
Cute an quirky, this little place does exactly what it says on the tin! Was a shame there was no one serving behind the bar (had to go nextdoor for drinks) as it didn't give you the full experience. Still worth a pit stop though!
K. J.
Live music in Sunday 🙂 great selection of drinks 😌 had a great time with friends 😉
C. X. R. H.
Great beer 😍
p. g.
went in for a wee drink with my brother and sister. very pleasant experience. the staff were very attentive and the atmosphere was great .if there was music playing it was at a level that you did not have to shout. which is great , nothing worse than not being able to hear what is being said. definitely be back.
C.
Decent place! Although one of the bar guys was quite visibly drunk or otherwise intoxicated (wearing a mask with a galaxy design on 24/9/21) so took ages to make our drinks because he kept forgetting what we'd said. Also pretty illegal to be doing that. Other than that a super cool place with excellent live acoustic music and a good vibe!
g. m.
Great bar, good music and nice atmosphere.
M. l.
Cocktails were super tasty and staff were happy and service was quick
E. S.
The place is fine but don't ask for cocktails ☺️
D. K.
Smallest pub in scotland with one of the best pints around.
M. S.
Not a great experience for food. The staff were amazing but just not enough of them. Service was rather chaotic and slow. Probably will just go for drinks next time.
J. R.
Really nice and friendly atmosphere. Good breakfast options, unfortunately poached eggs needed a little less time to be delicious and runny... Kids loved their pancakes. Would return but order something different.
J. A.
Stopped here for lunch and had some tasty food and a refreshing pint of ipa sat outside in the sun.
J. R.
Too noisy, food was terrible, and non existing service
T. D.
Good good, good drinks, good pub.
W. W.
classic british/irish/scotish pub with everything you want. Good selection of beers , dart, pub food and tvs.
You have to be prepared to wait a little though
L. B.
Took 40 minutes for some pal’s food to come. Not apologetic at all. Food was good but not on when there’s a 30 minute gap between food arriving.
M. B.
Decent food, great tables and booths for kids, had crayons and paper for drawing, not too expensive. Sticky toffee pudding!
m. b.
Had a beer tennents in a non branded glass. Not good enough. Busy and vibrant bar.
J. O.
Fine cheerful people coming here, perfect coverband playing Toto, Coldplay, Rolling Stones, LA's, James, Avril Lavigne in a scottish rocky style.... just anything! Unforgettable.
L. H.
Nice bar, Nice drinks. Unfortunately grumpy staff. But it was the end of the day so I'm sure they were tired. It was very busy that day.
G. R.
Really enjoyed my time in this bar on a Saturday afternoon
S. M.
No bad for a beer or two, but it's heart of touristville.
W. C.
I am in love all over again!!! They have the oxcheek meal....Whoa!@@@ Fabulous old building with character and style. Our, st. Peter, who had the privilege to take our orders. He is one of the best as I have a standard of excellent, (OCD). Everything must be right and clean. All government guidelines are in place. Very good background music, I was ready to get out my seat to dance. Food fab, drinks fab, service we had to be patient as the crowds were trying to enter. Seating is great with cosy booths and plenty of spaces. Table service only and card only; for the time being due to restrictions. Facilities are top notch very clean. Affordable all round. Grab a friend and check it out. Very mixed crowd young and mature. Wonderful, ambience with a wide screen for all your sports events. Now, you can not go too far wrong with all of that...lol! Do not forget your other half as this place is nice for couples or a small group of friends. Just get there early for the seats go quickly and like I said the food/menu is interesting...Go now, bless
M. T.
Not too much to say. Table service, app to order drinks demanded that you register and add your postcode, which sucks. We ordered a bottle of wine, which at £23 for a pub was a bit steep. That said, it's Edinburgh and in holiday season. Hard to find the toilets, they really need to put some signs on the doors. Can't comment on the food, but service was good.
P. S.
Had full Irish breakfast here twice. Really love it.
J. R.
Love this pub, especially for watching rugby, decent pint and not bad prices, atmosphere is amazing, would highly recommend
D. D.
Live music good spot for a pint
A. H.
Visited twice during our visit to Grassmarket, sat outside in their beer garden area, on a luvly sunny day, checked in track and trace, then ordered our drinks on their ordering page, our beers served by a friendly barman, we enjoyed our visit. Second visit sat outside on pavement, again ordered on their page, a wine and a beer, £6+ for a wine is a bit expensive, but still enjoyed our visit, a busy area so great for people watching
S.
The current method of ordering via mobile is pathetic, and our order took about 20 minutes longer than the website said. However, the food was absolutely delicious and the staff were very nice, calm, and understanding. My two recommendations of improvment would be to fix the website (and get some WiFi for the booths that don't have mobile data access) and put less ice cubes in your non-alcoholic drinks. Ice cubes are nice, but when you fill the glass to the top there's really not much space left for actual drink.
J.
Service left a lot to be desired but the food was alright and overall reasonably priced for the city centre.
l. S.
Tasty burger, good atmosphere and polite staff. Recommend getting there early as some food had already been sold out.
J. C.
Great experience! Bartender Connie was a dream. Got us seated, so lovely! Wish there were more waitresses in Edinburgh with that positivity! Will definitely be back!!
H.
Lots of fun, great staff. My only complaint was they didn't have a great selection of IPAs/pale ales on draught.
L. S.
Lovely made to feel very welcome
M. T.
Typical irish pub with delicious food and good enviroment. There are some good veggie options. The price is good and the service excellent.
C. T.
Great place with a great vibe,
Find yourself in the heart of an amazing Irish bar in Scotland capital city,
Amazing decor and fine drinks at very competitive prices, also live singers and performers on regularly, a very enjoyable night,
In the centre of the old town and in the well established Grassmarket Area will definitely go again when visiting!
H. J.
Great food and fast service considering the time we were there ; a busy lunch time . We had a hamburger and Scotch egg we really enjoyed and we will recommend . Husband had a Flat white and was impressed with how good it was. Great place.
C. M.
The place was as it says on the tin, rustic Irish and good craic.
I'd love to go back to it, non-covid, bouncing around and have the drama of trying to get served at the bar.
As some folk mention, ordering via a mobile in most of the pubs in the Grassmarket leaves a lot to be desired. It's not the pubs fault, or the staff and everyone was always helpful. Staff here when not whizzing past were lovely, full of banter and without doing too much just gave the place a bit of a buzz.
It desperately needs to be filled with music and it seems like the perfect place to waste the night away.
E. M.
Lovely pleasant staff, had tea it's was just the way I like it hot then food lovely then a few drink, recommend it ace to auld yins from killie.
H. B.
Staff were friendly and nice, we sat outside and had a few drinks. Service was pretty quick, though didn't seem like there was much seperating them from any of pub.
S. W.
Excellent! This was the best bar we visited during our short stay. So welcoming. Great live music. Excellent service. Highly recommend.
B. L.
Great food and drink standard chips seemed overpriced, loaded fries were excellent. Service slower than expected but perhaps due to covid. Good atmosphere and location.
T. S.
Could be great night out but cooler broke and I can only judge on that
M. D.
Cool pub with great love music.
J. C.
The door man gave music a wonderful welcome and the staff did all they could to accommodate us . The best nachos we have ever eaten in our lives xx Jillian and melanie liverpool
N. W.
Great service and the breakfast was fantastic, very close to the castle and local attractions. Would definitely recommend it to others 👌
m.
Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. The live music was really really nice. I recommend it.
D. E.
Nice little bar, busy even on a Monday and the live music is always welcome! Prices are very reasonable.
J. P.
Absolutely amazing for live music and drinks. Not sure about food however it looks good enough. Highly recommended for #livemusic and a very good night.
R. b.
Always have a great time in here
A. F.
Great great service, felt so welcome and looked after. We were sat outside but as soon as a drop of rain showed the manager there was quick to take us inside. He provided tailored service and a great, warm sense of humour. Thank you!
I. J.
Great live music. Friendly staff, great atmosphere. Really enjoyed the evening.
B. J.
Superb food and live music ... Brilliant atmosphere .
B. W.
Fantastic spot, we are just back from Edinburgh and found it hard to find pubs to allow our kids in for food, but this pub was so welcoming. The staff are really nice and friendly, the food we had last night was really good and reasonable. I would highly recommend this pub.
G. S.
Good atmosphere. Not enough staff at peak times and inconsistent with pricing. Same round prices fluctuated by £2 at times.
M. B.
Had the vegetarian breakfast and it was so delicious! Had to try the vegan haggis and it was so tasty. Nice atmosphere and really friendly staff too 👍 10/10
S. G.
Booked here for a society event. Staff were great and very helpful, especially Andy. Music, drinks and general vibe were also perfect. Highly recommend.
D. K.
Great foor, better beer 😉
S. J.
Excellent outdoor terrace with good food and drinks for a casual stop in Grassmarket.
R. H.
Most expensive bar of the night although it is the city centre a few doors down drinks were cheaper didn't really have much atmosphere for my liking
D. S.
Liked breakfast there so much Saturday went back a couple of days later and were disappointed. No white pudding and tattie scones, when I asked about them waitress laughed, shrugged and said, we ran out!
K. C.
Great place to watch the game.
P. K.
cracking bar! Great beer, delicious food, super friendly staff especially that Rory fella and the live music goes down a treat.
Perfect evenings entertainment before my first duck hunt with my Uncle Sam!
T. M.
Great bar. Great live music. But food not great, but It is a great bar
R. M.
Great food, quick service for drinks, rugby in the TV... what more could you ask for really.
G. P.
friendly staff warm welcome but they had to be warm as the super chilled tasteless beer did not do the staff justice as a themed pub the management need to take a look at what they offer to supplement there staffs efforts the fact that on the night it was cash sales only must have cost them a small fortune on the night i was there i think on future visit to Edinburgh i will give biddys a swerve
J. R.
Only had drinks here and listened to the music. Both were great. Music was popular 70s-90s American music, sung by a Scotsman with a guitar. Food looked great but we didn't try. Gets busy quickly and fills up.
E. G.
Fair drink selection and prices, staff were nice, and there's a good atmosphere with live music.
P. P.
We had a full Irish breakfast and french toast here, since it was the closest bar to our hotel (grassmarket hotel). Really nice food. Abundant, tasteful, good coffee, good attention. Recommended.
One night we had dinner there as well. Lamb stew. One portion was enough for both of us. Well prepared, and nice to gain some heat after walking all day at 2°C.
S. M.
Excellent atmosphere, music and staff!! 1st time in the Grassmarket area, will definitely be going back!!
P. M.
Lovely rustic Irish style pub with an amazing breakfast menu.
Went in Sunday morning after a night out and it was just the thing to get us going again. Staff are really friendly and a good amount of space to stand/sit.
Very competitive prices for the Grassmarket area and highly recommended.
T. J.
Friendly staff, decent space, AMAZING Irish Coffees!
d. m.
Very friendly from the few guest I've met staff friendly and bubbly food pub food but breakfast plenty if your big eater tasty and you can have your eggs as you like I had mine poached wow first time. Every on a fulfilling breakfast clean tidy. I'd defiantly call again for food and relaxed eating in a friendly atmosphere back ground music through the day. Fantastic
D. F.
Made some good memories in there on brother stag would you invite us back ta do more drinking....😎
C. W.
Visited on my stag do. Great ‘wee pub’ and wonderful staff. Directly linked to another pub as well so there’s no worry about a selection of beers
D. D.
Been here before really good.
R. A.
Lovely little place with a friendly doorman, which is rare
N. N.
It was great tonight really enjoyed the music. A new staff member served me and just want him to know he was doing so well learning all the new stufff
E. O.
Great wee pub, french barmaid was so helpful and made us feel right at home...
J. H.
Went here on Saturday evening as part of our stag weekend. This place was packed to the rafters and the atmosphere was brilliant. A real fun place and we were lucky enough they had live music. The ambience was great real ales on draft, prices not too bad but by the time we got here I don't think that mattered. Great place to go if you are visiting Edinburgh, try it you won't regret it. Unfortunately i didn't take any pictures but i have placed a picture of the wee pub which is all part of this place from their own website. Check it out it'll be worth it.
K. M.
Authentic musicianship in a teeny EDINBURGH pub? You must mean The Wee Pub next door to Biddy Mulligans in the Grassmarket. A small venue with a big heart. Sundays 4-6.30pm and Tuesdays 7.30-10pm are open mic nights. The evenings are hosted by Rob (through their Facebook page ‘The Wee Pub Open Mic Night), who is great at responding on FB and who, on the night, is so welcoming to seasoned and new artists, and to the audience. If last night is a standard evening we had instrumentalists, jazz/Harry Connick Jnr style singer and cool guitar player, The Jam style; folk and yours truly doing acoustic pop. The age range was diverse which is brilliant, and the level of playing and singing was top notch. The place is cosy and that’s what makes it. You feel like you’re in a wee community, a community of music lovers who talk to each other. Musicians are given a token for a free drink (Guinness, Tenants, and an IPA).
M. S.
Good food and I appreciate the fact they had a very cool vegan option on the menu, but there is no consistency on the food. Went twice in 2 days, lunch and dinner, ordered the same and they were very different.
The breakfast is not nice, the bread could be a sourdough instead of package supermarket brand, and the bowl of fruits was just sad.
Although it says it has Irish ales on the board outside, they did not had Irish Ales.
On the other hand, prices are fair and it has live music which makes a difference.
I would go back just for the music and whiskey.
D. F.
Good food and drink, pleasant staff
S. M.
Food and atmosphere was great. Service could have been better. Literally had to go to the bar to get help with anything.
J. B.
Great pub, called in for a couple of drinks and enjoyed it, good atmosphere and great live singer on.Will definitely go again next time we are in Edinburgh!
M. S.
A wonderful place to eat. We were ten people and a brunette waitress treated us great. She was super friendly and attentive to all of us. I'm still in love with this girl
K. B.
Went in because I was attracted by the menu. Once seated we found that some of the items (the pan fried cod I had my sights set on) were unavailable.
N. M.
Great place with a wonderful atmosphere, especially with the live music. It feels really cosy
s. c.
We really enjoyed our trip to buddy Mulligan's. We had the chicken & haggis and the veggie burger, both were delicious.
The bar and door staff were prompt and courteous.
Would recommend.
L. C.
Very expensive over £13 for a house red glass of wine and a bottled beer
S. E. E.
Nice cosy Irish pub on the corner of grassmarket! Live music playing some nights makes it a good place to bring visitors. The drinks are cheap and the staff are friendly. Would be better if the lighting was brighter as we all found it a bit dark, maybe this is to add to the atmosphere!
Would recommend for a quick drink!
A. G.
I love this pub and so do the locals, I try to visit it at least once everytime I'm in town. Everyone seems to be having a good time when they are there, it's a large place and can get busy but still enjoyable. Good choice of ales, hell of a place to watch a match.
M. H.
Busy Irish themed pub in Edinburgh's bustling grassmarket. Friendly efficient staff. Regular live music and good pub food. Shows live Irish sport on big screens. A pleasant way to spend an afternoon /evening. Gets very busy later on.
D. G.
Just a great irish bar in the Grassmarket area of Edinburgh. I love it here but sometimes the Guinness isn't poured right, the head huge in busier times. That's just stress and bad teaching though. Besides that it's a great bar, friendly and welcoming. Food is the normal fare you'd get from anywhere but good nonetheless. It has an Irish "shop" where you can get things from Ireland you can't usually get here in the UK, and live music daily. Definitely visit but be warned, it can be busy here on certain days, especially when the six nations is on, but what an atmosphere!
A. B.
Fun place and if you are lucky might experience live music. We went during Easter on a Saturday evening and what a lovely experience it was. Ambience was fabulous, service was quick and food was yumm.
M. V.
Good quick and friendly. Just go!
D. L.
Nice Irish pub with a good selection of beers and good music. Located in grassmarket, in the heart of the old town, very close to victoria street, and surrounded by lots of pubs and restaurants. You can also have a pint in the front terrace which is perfect in a sunny day. Always busy. Friendly staff. Prices are what you can expect in the area. Highly recommended.
J. H.
Nice place and good music venue, deffo visit this place if you wanna drink n enjoy some local bands.
Y. M.
City centre pub catering to the masses. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Albeit I enjoyed my drinks, this is just not my type of venue.
S.
Great pub in excellent location and it opens early on a Sunday morning. Only downside is the cost of a double spirit which I think are a bit on the expensive side
K. J.
Good bar but as far as I could tell no where to hang coats. No apparent coat room either and when it's full you're stuck pretty much holding onto it. Other than that great atmosphere.
S. D.
Nice pub with good assortment of beers on tap. Also some nice whiskies (think around 30 sorts). we did not eat here so can't tell how food is. Friendly atmosphere
s. s.
Live music and drinks great experience and lively. Drinks are quite expensive though.
D. R.
Great club sandwich and lovely Guinness. Busy with limited seating but worth it.
J. T.
Good atmosphere. Old school pub with a decent selection of beers and other drinks. Feels a little crowded during weekends (due to the way the rooms are organized). Not perfect, but enjoyable.
G. C.
Understaffed when I was there and took about 30 min to get served a fairly ordinary Caesar salad. That said, decent choice of beverages. I'd choose any of the other pubs around instead, though.
G. T.
Max the barman very friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere here very quaint.
K. S.
Went here for lunch with friends, food was just ok. Ordered the fish and chips which were very oily. Had much better before. Reasonably priced though and nice atmosphere. Good beer selection.
K. L.
Great beer, friendly service and plenty of outside seating. Didn't try the food as booking requested.
K. B.
Ok place i. Lovely grassmarket, ordered a burger abd 80% of the plate was bread and fries
B. w.
Love this Irish pub. From the live music to the food or a rugby weekend it is a pub I always visit. I enjoy the Grassmarket and the atmosphere down there. The Old town is amazing, from the pubs to the architecture. Sitting right below Edinburgh castle it is a little gem.
S. W.
It really is a wee pub. Smaller than most living rooms. But they still manage to fit a band in. Not much of a drinks selection. But super friendly and would love to go back in winter for the fire
J. S.
If every other place is full, this will do. But food is just average. We had the fish n chips, the mac n cheese and the super salad... all good enough to be eaten, but far from amazing.
D. F.
Great food, cold beer, warm welcome...
l. w.
We had our breakfast here as we were resident in the hotel next door..first morning was a shambles..waited an hour for it..they lost our order twice!!!..cold when it came..2nd morning was a far better experience..diffrent waiting staff..and the breakfast was lovely
L. L.
In every city that I visit, I seem to end up in a bar like Biddy Mulligan's. Just a tad rowdy and sticky, good for one beer, but not a place where I'd hang out all night with my friends. It's friendly but crowded. We eventually just sat down in a booth, getting some stink eye from later customers that we filled that with just the two of us simply because we didn't feel like physically hanging at the bar. It's not something you can chose in Biddy's. They do serve a nice cold Innis&Gunn's and an even colder Magners at least.
R. A.
Decent pub with friendly staff.
Z. F.
Came here for a quick breakfast (served till noon) before heading out to different real ale pubs. Staff was extremely knowledgable on the beers on tap and the food came almost immediately, almost like they new I was coming or it was already precooked in the back. The interior is beautiful with a nice oval bar dominated the floor. Only had two real ales on tap though.
L. T.
Lovely place and quite good food but today visit was not so satisfying as waiting time for food was about 1h. This would not be issue if not in hurry to go to airport. Only one thing I would recommend is to inform customers that might be longer wait for food so they are aware.
J. C. R.
Quite enjoyable pub, with an offer of typical Scottish food and beverages. I did not try the latter though. Sorry guys, but I am Guinness guy! Anyway, the service and the ambience are good, and the live music renders a festive atmosphere.
D. B.
Perhaps because I am American, I have some crazy expectations. My husband and I came in. No greeting by a host, server or bartender, so we assumed it was ok to go find a table. When we sat down, across from the bar, it took 10 minutes before he went to ask if they offered table service. This after several servers and employees walked by us multiple times.
Once we got drinks and food, all was excellent. We shared a large feta salad and the lamb stew. Both were incredibly fresh and flavorful. The Edinburg gin and tonics were originally short. Upon food delivery, we asked for drink refills and we were given tall drinks. Hmmm. Inconsistency makes me wonder if one was a mistake, and which one?
If you venture in...be assertive to request service. Coming in doesn’t apparently indicate your desire that way.
R.
Love this place. Whenever visiting Edinburgh I make sure to come here on an evening! Always have good live music on and tasty beer, atmosphere has always been fantastic whenever I have been.
S. B.
Fine for me, nice atmosphere, good and authentic
G. p.
Visited from Cambridge for a few days and the team couldn't have been any more accommodating. Amazimg place. We will be back.
B. R.
Excellent pub with friendly and helpful staff. Very busy at weekends but quieter during the week especially at lunch time. Good pint and good menu (miss Biddys Chicken Wings though).
D. R.
Great pub. Got snowed in here. The staff couldn't be better, huge thanks to all of them for being so friendly. Good food good beer and good music too. Can't go wrong
A. S.
Very good atmosphere and food.
S. S.
We ate here and enjoyed our stay. Busy, but the waitress was nice and focused. Wouldn't be on my MUST VISIT list if I went back but it was good enough while we were there.
J. M.
Great atmosphere. Friendly staff and great choice of beers!
A. B.
Great Pub in Edinburgh. The beer is wonderful and the music is just awesome.
You can dance if you like or just watch the music. Depends on you. The drinks are really good. Somtime they play swing music, Jazz ore even Rock there. My favorite Pub in Edinburgh.
Would go there definitly again. So great!
5 Stars!
L. A.
The live music is great here, think it's almost every night. It's a big pub so theres plenty of space and bars. Good selection of drinks.
B. Z.
The service was very good. Quick and cheerful, was served by Georgia who was super friendly and helpful. The nachos were delicious. Will be back!
J. D.
Why did I choose an Irish pub in Scotland? Not sure, but glad we did. Food was excellent and the service was friendly. I'd definitely go back again and sit in the big patio in the middle of the street.
A. B.
Was walking down the grassmarket with my family and we needed a bite to eat so decided to pop in here, outside area looks lovely but sadly it decided to start pouring down! Food was ok, quite typical pub grub, burgers, pies and even some irish stew!
We were served quickly and the staff were absolutely lovely, but I would say that just as we got our food a massive hen do arrived and the place got a bit rowdy. So I think it'd be great fun for going for a few drinks and watching some football but maybe not the place to bring the family because it seems pretty popular with hen and stag dos.
I. F.
Lovely pint of Guinness served here and the bar area is quite unusual with an almost circular bar in the middle. There is seating outside and it's a little tight but is great for people watching on the Grassmarket.
D. S.
Irish themed pub on Grassmarket. First stop of the day after a busy walk around in the morning. I had a half of the Bitter & Twisted from Harviestoun, which is a micro brew from Alva Scotland. Not too impressed. This was not a quite cozy type pub. It was actually dank and cold. The bar person was not friendly. First and last time visiting this pub.
K. W.
Came on Scotlands freedom day , everybody was so excited and friendly , a lovely atmospheric pub , live music and plenty of dancing , what a fantastic evening
S. P.
Good vibes, excellent live music and reasonably priced drinks!
H. L.
If you can wait the food is amazing , if you're hungry seriously go eat somewhere else! We were served immediately which was fantastic and then waited nearly an hour for our food to arrive... for a sandwich and a rice dish...
S. W.
Fantastic place. TiNY. Lol. It's tied to a larger pub.
R. K.
Food was delicious including the fish and chips as well as the vegetarian burger. The customer service was fast and friendly.
C. T.
Awesome pub, great service, good whiskey, great music.
L. G.
Amazing pub went here with some friends, such a brilliant atmosphere and great to see they are taking extra covid rules, they only do table service and you will need to book.
O. G. S.
Great atmosphere! Both the breakfast and the pub food is well above average, and service friendly and efficient. Really makes you want to stay!
P.
Best vegan fish and chips I've had anywhere. I even had to check they didn't mistake my order for standard f&c
D. H.
Love the little sections for when you want some privicy while having food.. Love their thick fries lots of flavour, good portion, good price.. Becoming a regular at this wee pub love it.
J. R.
Friendly staff, nice pub - fish & chips a let down. A fork full of peas and greasy fish was below expectation, hence the 3*. Likewise family food just not great.
J. L.
This was my first time in a Irish Pub... I loved 😍 the musician were amazing 👏 the staff are very friendly... ❤ 🇮🇪 🇧🇷
W. W.
Fantastic. The two bartenders Rob and Cormac were both equally handsome and knowledgeable about their drink.
R. Z.
Brilliant place for a good beer and good pub food!
G.
Nice pub, plenty of local beers and the staff are friendly.
K. R.
Such a warm friendly pub with fab live music while we were there, will be back!
D. W.
Cracking old school pub . Was lovely to sit outside in the sun . Had some bar snacks which were lovely . Try the onion rings, gorgeous!!
L. H.
I've had the best lambs stew of my life. Friendly staff, lovely setting, nice music. We had the best time.
K. G.
Great craic here with live music.
L. D.
Really good pub, brilliant live music and prices for Edinburgh, only problem was bar service is VERY slow
d. C. c.
Great little place, had the steak today and it was cooked to perfection, reasonably priced and the wait wasn't to long. Brilliant atmosphere when the night kicks off, gets my recommendation!
N. B.
It actually connects to a much larger pub. A nice place for an ale
S. F.
Great service. Very good fish and chips especially as they serve it in a smaller portion which was still plenty. Nice atmosphere.
C. G.
It's a nice pub. Children allowed in till 8pm. Barman told us we couldn't come in as it was after 8, but it was only 7.10. 🤔
M. B.
Lively and bright. Decent beer selection. If you sit down for bite it could take a while for a server. Typical pub fare but very filling.
D. C.
We had great service and food. We had breakfast; smashed avocado toast and it was quite tasty.
R. W.
Good atmosphere friendly staff
b. c.

Tables for food, standing area for a beer, I really like to drop in once in a while. Really lovely waiting people, I would give 4*, but the great service goes with an extra star
L. M.
We had breakfast here and the service was great, Andy and Lada were the most accomodating and friendly.. not to mention Lada makes a fabulous Bloody Mary!
J. K.
Very cute, even has cut out to pose with. We only stayed for 1 drink but staff are lovely.
D. P.
Stinking toilets but not too bad service
L. S.
Nice pub with a good atmosphere. Good service and prices. They had live music when I was there, and the musician played some of the requests.
M. K.
Very friendly bar with cool rock music and delicious beers.
M. C.
Live music every weekend. Although the prices are bit high as well as shots are tiny, I think 15ml... Anyway not bad place to be at 😊
X. F.
It's a bloody Irish bar! What else do you need to know? Get in and have fun! Live music, great atmosphere, WiFi, big space. Very good!
C. W.
Good selection of spirits wine and beer great place to have a night out at the capital of Scotland
M.
Fantastic atmosphere and great student discount offers
K.
Service was chaotic and we had to go find someone so we could pay and leave. Food was okay but not anything special. Was nice to sit outside.
C. M.
live music and lovely good, nice atmosphere amd area
D. N.
Why would you go to Edinburgh to seek out an "Irish" Bar? Anyway, it's not Irish at all - just a big, rather dark, Edinburgh boozer. Quite a young crowd and mostly a place for lager and cider drinkers. It's fine, but there is much better.
P. W.
Very good but needs a better beer selection on draft
l. a.
Food was very tasty, the bar was a bit dull and had a stale smell but overall it was good
a. s.
Visiting for the week from London ordered Irish stew and 2 small fish and chips and minuscule was what we got for virtually London prices too chips were cold and soggy fish was tasty but gone in 10 seconds Irish stew was nice atmosphere was good live music was fine too on the whole go here for drinks and conviviality but eat somewhere else 😏
L. P.
Great atmosphere. Varied menu catering for all types..
S. K. (.
Excellent pub in the heart of the bustling Grassmarket. Reasonable prices, great staff, and live music. Ambiance has everything one might expect from a large Irish pub.
K. R.
Great little pub
W. A.
Great music venue. Sunday night open mic was something really special.
E. F.
Biddy Mulligans is a traditional Irish Rugby pub with live music most nights of the week. The atmosphere is friendly and engaging with chatty, helpful staff. The food is really good too - being tasty but affordable.
Perfect location for Hogmanay!
S. H.
I go here on Tuesdays and Sundays for the open mic nights. Amazing atmosphere with some fantastic artists. Get there early if you want to perform.

Great food and drinks with the girls and fab live music
G. A. D.
Great atmosphere. Not my favorite beers. I enjoyed very much the musician who sang and played guitar.
J. R.
We were staying at The Grassmarket Hotel in Edinburgh where Biddy Mulligans is attached to. We went there for breakfast every morning. We were cheerfully greeted by Owen (great service!) who helped us start the day the right way. The Continental breakfast comprehensive. You can also order a la carte: omelette, irish fry, etc. We tried everything...coffee strong (my favorite in Edinburgh)delicious.
R. W.
Lovely pub, nice food, friendly helpful staff and live entertainment
J.
Nice pub with local people's so if you wanna have real atmosphere go for it and don't forget to try their rich selection of local whiskey s
J. B.

D. H.
Very friendly, great service - Guiness, Fish and Chips and the British Open - excellent!
J. K.
Decent place to go and watch the rugby. One of the nicer Grassmarket bars, but that is damning it with faint praise. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere.
S. D. (.
Nice brekkie as we were sent from (Just within walking distance) Central Stay Hotel, staff was helpful and nice to us. 5 on 5
e. k. 1.
Great place for Christmas drinks with the girls
D. M.
An Irish bar at the end of Grassmarket that often has live music playing.
Always buzzing with people but also makes it difficult to get served sometimes and can have too many drunken idiots in it at times.
Nonetheless one of the most lively pubs on the Grassmarket if you like that sort of thing.
P. G.
Great place , brilliant live entertainment every night.
G. P.
A very busy pub in the Grass Market. Serves a good pint of Guinness. Lots of bar staff so getting served is quick.
M. H.
Cracking pub with a lively atmosphere. Make sure you don't miss it!
M. U.
Great atmosphere and cold beer.
J. B.
Nice wee Irish pub lovely staff good food
G. W.
Great atmosphere but the service at the bar was horrific! Staff had no idea who to serve and they ran out of gin!! It was a rugby weekend but they should be better prepared
P. H.
Traditional tavern with great beer on tap at either end of the central circular bar. Plenty of booths to sit with friends and great live music.
J. v. d. E.
A great place to sit down on the sidewalk and take in the views of Grassmarket and the passing public. Coffee, beer and burgers were all good. A very professional large place.
M. T.
Always go to Biddys the menu and service are excellent!
C. E.
Cheerful atmosphere as there was a football match on at the time. Didn't stay long - someone had to loose 👍

C. S.
Excellent service and friendly staff. Easy ordering on the app, very quick service. Food delicious 😀
K. M.
O liked the pub itself and you'll see why described later. No one every came to tend to us or ask if we wanted anything. This may be the norm but still it was weird to experience. They charged us for a glass of water to go with our Obans which was beyond weird. And the singer was so bad I wanted to disconnect the speakers in there. But the atmosphere was nice... the pub was quaint and had a certain charm to it. So LIKE overall.
C. G.
Amazing vegan fish and chips. Delicious food and good portions.
N. M.

Come during this buggered up world we live in, friendly staff, helpful, good music playing quietly (I do love loud but hey ho, this is 2020) I saw the stage and imagined the room full, fair price on a pint, I will be returning once all of this blows over and we can bump sweaty fist and form moshpits once again 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
k. k.
Good choice for Irish food - great and lovely waitress (jessy) - besides Mac & cheese food was fine for the price paid. Can recommend

I'll give it 4 stars just because the atmosphere is excellent at night. During the day, when you are sober the place really smells bad!

A tiny wee pub. Has a few drinks on tap. Small and intimate.

P. R.
great place and tasty food 👌👌👌
J. M.
Good place to grab a bite... fish and chips, the staff is really friendly, even gave us options of things we could do in Edinburgh!
M. -. S. B. C.
All right pub but probably the weakest of the string in sits in on Grassmarket. As a tourist, no real problems but needs to up its game to keep up from my one visit
R. K.
Decent start to your tour of Edinburgh,
Food is good staff are friendly and can pull a decent pint..
f. D.
Its a wee pub serving ok food

Happy, easy, friendly. Nice place to chill with friends, casual and quiet meetings hanging out front, or enjoying the crazy atmosphere when things really kick off.
F. L.
Spacious boozer with relatively good amount of beers on tap. Lots of seating, and located close to many restaurants and pubs.
C. T.
Great pub. Great atmosphere .
