Reviews of Broadcast
T. C.
A small intimate basement music venue.
There is a bar and restaurant upstairs but I was there to see Emma Jean Thackray for some serious Jazz with a side order of funk! Banging! Great venue! (and only a short walk from The Pot Still)
C. B.
A Glasgow staple. The bar is cheap and open late and the venue is serviceable. Your night will truly depend on who's playing and if there are events in the surrounding area who have just let out for this bar is where you end up after every where else is closed. Good on it's own tho. This, sleazys and box are a great trio because you can match the vibe of what you want because they are all neighbors
P. R.
Great bar although at 57 I did feel way too old. I didn't go down to the music venue as there was a band playing as I didn't have time, but it looked to be very popular... And I suppose the band that was on helped with that.
B.
Good sounding venue. And has air con!
J. S.
Booked here for some food before a gig at the venue downstairs. Food was excellent and great value for money. The 2 types of chicken tenders we had were delicious and the mac n cheese and fries also hit the spot. Venue downstarirs is tiny but makes for a great atmosphere when there is a decent sized crowd in. One downside....the mens toilets upstairs in the main bar could do with more regular cleaning. Other than that if you were going to Broadcast for a gig I would recommend it for pre-gig food and drinks.
D. S.
Great basement venue that has become one of the best places to play and witness live music in the city!
M. M.
Nice intimate location for a gig, but the sound quality was pretty bad, couldn't hear the singer! I'm assuming (hoping) this was a one off issue...
g. w.
Great music bar. Very friendly
R. M. G.
Great vibe. Sometimes do gigs downstairs and you can get to see some good bands. Best part is the pints of Tenenants really fresh and zesty. Love it.
L.
Very good, if limited, food. Vegan & vegetarian choices as well. Sadly, no burgers, though. Nice tiny live music venue downstairs. Very good staff.
M. H.
Cracking wee venue for the more intimate gig. Beavertown Neck Oil on tap too. The band in the photos below is Lo Moon and they were excellent.
C. O.
Always great for gigs. Less than a tenner usually.. Get there early for all bands to show support
I. h. L.
I very much love it here. 💕💕💕
c. m. b. d.
Enjoy coming through from edinburgh for gigs
Lively venue easy to find
Low stage so intimate with band
D. B.
Good friendly venue, popular with a mixed crowd, partly due to it's small, cellar, music venue that draws some great alternative bands. The main bar at street level is large with a reasonable selection of draught beers and staff that I have always found to be friendly, cheerful and competent. Prices are average I suppose for a city centre pub. Biggest criticism is the extremely tiny gents toilet which is not adequate for the size of the venue. I have no knowledge of the female facilities. I like this bar, it has a good vibe about it.
H. O.
Good but only if Tommy is on lights
M. D.
Good pub upstairs, but the place to go is the intimate room downstairs to hear up-and-coming local bands.
B. B.
Great wee music venue! Haven't been here for a while but the times I've been it's been fantastic. Really intimate and a great location too. Bar upstairs is nice and chill if you're early for your gig and want a drink and/or some food.
Staff are really sound too.
J. S.
Great music venue. The performing area (which is in the basement) is quite small but this is generally offset by band popularity. Most of the time, it's bands just gaining traction playing here.
A good selection of booze. Didn't appear to have any coffee on sale but there was some pub grub on offer which seemed like it could be quite tasty.
J. S.
Great underground venue.
Could do with upgrading the house lighting and sound but perfect for those intimate shows.
Bar downstairs is limited and cash only but you can bring drink down from the main bar upstairs. Bad if you dont want to miss any of the show but they are limited in space. Would have been nice to have draught downstairs.
e.
Sometimes there's live Irish music by Glasgow music students - and they're great!
S. 0.
Saw the Primitives in here last week, good sound good bar..
Small venue but that made it all the better 👌😎
M. D.
Great wee venue! Loving the cheap drinks Monday to Thursday too. Sam Smith's Organic pints only £2:80 Food looks great, will defo eat there next time too. Been many times over the years and the food has always been good. New menu shorter (good sign), but with plenty of interest for most/all.
D. H.
Broadcast is a bar that has played a major part in my time in Glasgow. It’s a bar with so much character and the music venue has hosted some of the most intimate and special gigs in recent years. Their iconic White Russians form just part of their constantly expanding drinks selection that will keep you occupied until the early hours! The food is also to die for.
J. M.
Great gig venue downstairs. Small venue that holds a great atmosphere. Regularly have local bands playing so worth a visit. Up stairs the bar has a good vibe with cocktails and beers aplenty to choose from.
S. T.
Not a very popular club so is sometimes quite quiet, pretty big dance floor
M. A.
Superb venue, low ceiling, great atmosphere
D. B.
Nice late night music bar. Looks a bit rundown inside but that's the style of the bar. Live music every night which is nice while having a few drinks. The £3.50 white Russians during the week are the highlight of the bar!
I. F.
Visited to see Michael Chapman on September 4th. Staff very nice and helpful. Although a mainly standing venue, manager provided two chairs near stage, as my husband had recently had an operation and couldn't stand for long. Lovely touch.
Great atmosphere in basement. Terrific music. Only complaint: toilets are terrible with rude/filthy graffiti on each cubicle wall. Hand drier wasn't working and there were no hand towels.
R. W.
Excellent service and amazing staff. Sadly no loft bit if your able to get down stairs then staff are happy to accommodate I felt very welcome and happy here sadly not wheelchair friendly which is my only downside Amazing venue with great staff
A. G.
Great live venue. One of the better small venues in Glasgow. Bar has an excellent selection of bottled beers as well as rotating guest beers on draft.
S. H.
On a street full of gig venues and bars this isn't the best. Place seems quite casually run. Venue downstairs isn't great, sound is generally not that good. Difficult to watch and hear the band once there are more than 30 people in!
C. D.
Great music venue in Glasgow, always putting on good music. Prices depending on the promotors but the drink prices are fair and good range of cocktails, especially White Russians.
J. C.
Ace venue, brilliant people and staff. Good prices
D. C.
Played countless sweaty nights in there. Great wee place. They're a big fan of the little man
S. M.
Great range of cocktails, relaxed atmosphere and stylishly decorated. Service is great too. A weird complaint but it lacks cigarette at the entrance which means it always looks messy...
B. H.
Went here to see a gig last night gd venue friendly staff
D. S.
Went to see Mary Spender there. Nice little club.. Friendly staff. Bar/pub on the street level, music venue in the basement with a bar. Cheap parking 5 minutes walk. Liked it
S. D.
Very trendy, counted 17 pairs of doc martens in the hour and a bit I was there. Nice staff and good prices
A. K.
Last wednesday of every month my son plays there he is going to be the next Calvin Harris the place itself is not to bad and very reasonable for drinks worth a shout worth a visit
M. B.
First time in broadcast to see charley crockett and the blue drifters , upstairs is a long narrow stone lined room where we ordered our drinks, I noticed people eating in some of the booths, whatever they were having smelled great .We took our drinks downstairs for the gig , the room downstairs is quite small with a bar at the back and stage in front of you as you come down the stairs , i guess it can hold about 100-150 people downstairs and I think it adds to the atmosphere, all in all I liked the broadcast, the staff were great and the band were amazing ,can't ask for more
H. M.
Went to see some young bands. They were very good. Had a great time. Service was great. A great venue for live music.
T. M.
Excellent wee gig space, singers sound is good + reflected well, met some nice folk there, staff all friendly too 😁👍
C.
Great gig venue.
M. D.
Great wee basement venue, cheap drink offers Monday to Thursday too. Food offering looks pretty interesting too. Will definitely eat next time.
H. P.
It was pretty nice. Cheap weekday drinks. Although get your drink before you go downstairs for a concert because the drinks are much more expensive at the basement bar
V. G.
Nice little venue for gigs. Good selection of beers. Really friendly staff
P.
Nice place... good music... but WORST TOILETS EVEEEEER. ...not coming for your toilets guys but they look like noone has been there to clean them for months ...ok i am exaggerating...but honestly its the worst toilets i have seen anywhere i have been the past 15 years!!! Need to do something!!
T. W.
Are you looking for cheap white russians? Well, Broadcast is the best place to go, they're £3 so thats pretty good. Pizza kinda sucks just so you know.
C. C.
Staff are great. Made sure I could enjoy my time in their venue and made access so much easier. Will be back.
A. N.
Fantastic little venue situated well, fairly priced drinks and buzzing atmosphere would highly recommend.
D. W.
Unbelievably good white Russian. Free entry normally and a well sized dance floor down stairs. Can't complain.
J. M.
Good food, decent beer, great live music from Scottish support Dixie Fried and Cedric Brunside was top notch
I. S.
Attended a gaming event in the basement. It's a nice cozy place. Staff was friendly although toilet conditions could be improved!
D. G.
We were for a country concert there in the basement. Great show, great service. We also had dinner. Nice burger and chips.
A. K.
Their vegan shawarma wrap is delicious, 10/10. Great music, friendly vibes and a great place for a dance.
M. R.
Great atmosphere and often a good wee band playing downstairs. Toilets definitely need a refurb though.
T. S.
ace venue... Professional Friendly Staff!
C. W.
this is such a cool venue because it’s very small so you get a really amazing experience
J. L.
Hardly any draught beer fir a gig . Really ???
S. G.
Small gig venue under a larger bar. Great for an intimate gig but limited drinks facilities downstairs and cash only.
J. T. P.
Broadcast is a very good place for a wee dram . Ive never really been convinced with the understairs space tho . And the drinks prices fluctuating depending on the day of the week makes it confusing.
J. M.
Only here for the first time for the Celtic Connections gig downstairs which I have posted elsewhere, but a nice vibe about the place and staff friendly and helpful.
S. D.
On the small side and first band was too loud. Not a great selection of drink and on pricey side for Glasgow.
E. D.
Great wee free venue with a decent sound system and a crowd who want to party
F. s.
Great live music, and drink was reasonably priced on a Monday.
J. A.
