Excellent venue in Central Glasgow. Walked from Glasgow Central Station within 10 minutes. There was a very long queue outside but was very quickly reduced when the doors opened. Theatre is well maintained with beautiful period features. Had a great view from the balcony. All the Staff were polite n helpful. Sound quality was excellent. One thing to note is if you are sitting in the first three rows in the balcony you must remain seated throughout the gig.

Always have a great night here when going to gigs. The sound is really good and there are loads of staff on to make sure you find your way about etc. Enormous ceiling and vintage Deco architecture Always add a great vibe to the experience too.

Great venue, although the acoustics are a bit hit or miss unless you're in the sweet spot, security was tight, and I was glad to see it. Clutch and Green Lung were phenomenal. Tiger Cub less so.
A. G.
Fantastic atmosphere and sound. Pity the female loos are all the way at the back and there's 2 male toilets at the front. However there are female loos if you go back out and down some stairs at the front end. Bit of a pain but there must be a reason to it.
Just need all the bars to be stocked fully before the bands start.
Still a great venue and so close to the city centre.

Came here to see Madison Beer, the queue started really early and we were waiting over an hour before doors open. Security let us in really quick and staff were all very friendly. The place and toilets were very clean. We sat up on balcony but everyone stood up as soon as the main concert started, so be prepared. We were around 6 rows back and could see Madison clearly. The sound quality was absolutely amazing, so loud you couldn't hear anything but Madison and the crowd singing. The bass was very heavy, your feet and drink cups were vibrating. Though I heard you could request free earplugs. Overall I would highly recommend this place, it was a very good musical experience, Leah and Madison were also amazing.

Fantastic live music venue. The sound quality was brilliant when we saw First Aid Kit. Security were friendly and helpful, bars a plenty. Great venue.
C. A.
Good mid size venue close to the Glasgow City Centre.
Seen many gigs here, most recently Tori Amos who was excellent.

The staff were friendly and helpful and genuinely were interested in you having a safe and enjoyable time. The artist I went to see was amazing and although there was a big crowd, the staff still managed to say goodbye to everyone who passed them! I would definitely go back now I know where I'm going and how organised the events are here

The bar on the first floor underneath the mezzanine seating area is a great place to escape for a moment if you or anyone you visit with needs a break from the volume of a concert. Found this a godsend for my daughter when I went to a great 'Tide Lines' concert with my Wife and friends. Balcony tickets for youger ones are great as occupancy of this area is limited, so (Really) good view of stage, safety of older children and proximity of toilets is a real bonus. Female toilets are to the left ( if looking towards the stage) and male toilets are to the right of the stage so if you have any sense when attending with wife then try and get on the left. Oh and if you find the time liste to Tide Lines, an up an coming Scottish band, who if you like Runrig, the Proclaimers or similar, then you will enjoy.

Great gig venue! 👌🏼 Expensive bar though. 😐 Balcony view is not miles away like some other venues! 🙂
P. H.
Took my kids to see AJR 2nd time we've seen them live in Glasgow and they don't disappoint the show they put on is great and very engaging. The venue is good size and seating area is not too far from stage. The condensation build up in the stair wells is VERY dangerous but the stairs were SUPER slippy as we were leaving!
T. B.
Really nice venue.
Great views sound was OK but the sound tech did mess up on occasion.
J. P.
Great venue, been going here for over 10 years and I haven't once seen a bad gig. Place is easy to get to only 15 min walk from Glasgow Central Station.
C. B.
The venue location is not far away from the city centre which is great. Inside was small and intimate which just enhances the experience. There are plenty of bars in the venue i was standing overall a great experience. Staff on the night were all friendly and helpful.
A. C.
Been a few times for gigs and always enjoyed the ambience however the cleaning standards could be better. The floor was so sticky from God knows how many spilled drinks over time, every time you moved your feet your shoes stuck to the floor. Ordered a draft diet soft drink and got what can best be described as a flat gasless black syrup.
I'll probably be back as you don't have a choice if you want to see bands but let's hope at some point they clean the floor.
F.
Outstanding gig!! Clutch were superb prefer these types of venues sound was brilliant, staff friendly & helpful although drink prices a little on the high side.
A. G.
The gig I went to was great but in this review I want to focus on the Academy.
As a Virgin Media customer I joined the special O2 access line and got in unchallenged, which I was entitled to do, but worried about. It was starting to rain as I entered but nowhere outside today queue undercover. I was security frisked on the way in, I think pretty much everyone was, without bother.
A hard left once inside took me to steep and narrow steps to the balcony. Even with my poor knees, it wasn't to steep, but the climb would have been possible for me a few years ago. The narrowness was only a problem, a small one, at the end of the gig when people wanted down to get out and others wanted up to the coast room.
I was impressed by the balcony area. Clean, comfortable and with good seats. I wasn't expecting much but this was akin to a full on theatre experience. Very good! As was my view.
There's pub access directly from the balcony by going through the middle.
I didn't venture down to the standing area but that's where the close to the stage action is!
M. P.
Great place to watch a band etc. Friegood service used to go to the Venue when it was a cinema 40 odd years ago seeing the old decor is great. Also the stage is just at the right height to get up close.
G. M.
Great venue for music, fast service in all bars, security (showtec) were pleasant and helpful and on a different level from others.
I. M.
Been here 3 times over the past few months for festival of the dead, neon jungle and hardstyle superheroes. Amazing venue, very accessable and near the city centre, great wide open space, plenty of bathrooms, well stocked bar and very helpful and friendly staff both on the doors and behind the bars, I always keep an eye out what's on at the O2 as I know it's going to be a great night.
j. c.
Been and seen many bands and loved every one just back from the Ian brown concert magic
N. S.
Always a fantastic night in here!
One of my favourite venues for a gig, atmosphere always amazing, with friendly staff.
Only downside the drink options are limited, but plusside there are plenty bars throughout the venue to keep wait times down...so that's a win!
It's within walking distance of city center, with Subway minutes away too.
M. A.
Classic venue for concerts. Have lost count how many times I've seen bands here. Really friendly and professional staff in every department. Great acoustics for rock music, always a great energy. If you've never been, you're missing out.
D. R.
Don't know what to say. It's old school, traditional theatre venue, with great atmosphere and audience participation..... far, far better than any arena or stadium gig.
It has several bars too, and the security and other staff are very polite and helpful.
P. M.
Been a few times and always enjoyable. I like how the bars are within the main floor area so you don't miss anything on visiting the bar. Toilets are too.
B. C.
1st time being at this place to see Jake Bugg on 23.3.22.and the place was jumping especially downstairs. Was here on 18.6.22 to see The Wonder Stuff with support from Jake Shillingford of My Life Story doing an acoustic set and also here on 22.6.22 to see PiL with support from Brix Smith. All good shows.
F. M.
Great live music venue!
Security staff are approachable - ticket staff are v efficient.
WCs are clean.
Although there's no car parking on site, it's right beside an underground station for easy public transport links, or you can park in the station car park (think the cost was around £5 for the evening).
G. H.
Very good view of band staff where good aswell only thing was having to go down stairs to get to the toilet
G. M.
Another great gig (Shinedown) as usual. This is a good venue to see bands and enjoy live music, the sound is really good. Nice bar and everything runs smoothly as you would hope it would.
A. M.
For coming back post covid. I was surprised how good security were about covid safety. Instant checks at the door and act itself (Hardstyle Superheroes) was something well worth waiting a year and a half for.
C. M.
I went to see Agnes obell last Sat night. I went down the stairs to the toilet and back up and my seat was on the upper level balcony. I have been receiving treatment for cancer and was a bit breathless and had to wait a bit before climbing the next set of stairs. The next thing I know a kind Steward came over to ask if I was OK. I said I was but had to rest a bit before going upstairs. He kindly said if I would like a seat downstairs he would get us one. I agreed and the next thing we were taken through to the seating area downstairs given the perfect seat next to the bar, disabled toilets and merch stand. Perfect view of the stage. I was asked now and again if we were OK and I was delighted with the treatment we received. Kind staff great venue and made to feel very safe. Thank o2 staff for your kindness and over and above care and attention. It was my first time out in a long time and I had a very relaxing and enjoyable time. Thank you.
B. S.
We saw Maggie Rogers here, great spot. We took the Subway from Glasgow Queen Street Station (outer circle) to the Bridge Street Subway Stop.. only took a few minutes and a short walk to the venue. We sat in the balcony area which had a very nice view of the stage.
d. m.
Great architecture and amazing sound for a more intimate gig, beats a huge concert anyday, acoustics were amazing.
E. W.
Mam and Dad went to see The Damned 4/11/22. Dad asked me to put these comments on here.
Couldn’t believe the professionalism of all the staff up in Glasgow from door personnel to bar staff and attendants on stairs etc. Top class all of you. Lovely helpful people who are a credit to their employers. Good luck to you all in whatever you do in the future, it’s well deserved. Thank you again everyone
C. M.
Brilliant venue, have seen many bands there Anthrax last night
C. S.
Good venue for a concert. We saw, First Aid Kit. When it's full it's hard work moving through the crowds. Only one ladies toilet. Stage and sound are great.
K. S.
Great venue, doorstaff aren't trained well though. Told me it was the last set so I went for a cigarette to then find out the act went on for a further 20/30 minutes. No one was allowed back in, when I went to try to go back in 6 members of the door staff surrounded me in unneeded aggression.
J. P.
Staff should be better informed when seats are reserved. The guy on the door was telling people that it was unreserved seating when I had booked my seats well in advance. The result being,I had to ask someone to move because he was sitting in one of the seats I had booked. Luckily the guy was a gentleman and he moved further along the row.
S. M.
Doesn’t look great from outside and location is a bit rustic but once inside this is a fantastic venue for a live show. Great bar with plenty staff, sensible prices for drinks, comfy seating, fantastic acoustics and friendly staff and security folk.
T. R.
Great venue just a little too hot. Would definitely recommend balcony booths view fantastic
J. M.
Love this venue and Glenn Hughes was amazing!
First concert here after lockdown. The Wonder Stuff were great as always.
B. M.
Great venue for gigs, old school atmosphere like the Apollo, with a rocking bouncing balcony
Only downside was a female jobsworth kicking my wee sister out for smoking a cigarette whilst all around her were people smoking weed (a reggae band was on) and she never said a word to any of them about that
l. g.
Not my favourite venue. Seen Security dragging a dad away from his autistic son, who stood at the barrier for the last song. He was harming nobody just enjoying himself. Poor show. Disappointed in the venue. Band were fabulous though.
D. C.
It's ok, sound can be poor at times but as a venue it's easy to get in and out of. Views of stage are good whether you're at the front like me or higher ground at the back. 1 star off for £6.20 a pint of Carlsberg!!!
G. H.
Fantastic venue, great for concerts only issue I have is the drink prices.
F. S.
Enjoyed Behemoth gig here, only qued for short while to get in and show was good, although speakers can be too loud when standing at the front, had to use ear plugs for first time in my life and had ringing in my ears next day. Staff were great.
T. F.
Not disability friendly. Very cramped for gigs as well. Acoustics weren't great either for hearing the performer. Would be better being kept for ballet etc instead
P. G. (.
The venue for music is brilliant. The prices are awful.
£6:80 for a San Miguel. Not to mention the inflated t-shirt prices. This is due to the venue taking a cut of the bands merch sales.
Given they are already fleecing the public this is outrageous.
B. D.
Fontaines DC at Glasgow Academy. The band were 5 stars. However my 22 year old son was charged £39 for 3x50mls rums with a dash of cola. He was too embarrassed to say anything ( and paid with his card that didn’t really have enough money on it he had to use an overdraft) I would like someone from the venue to explain /justify the pricing policy. Very unhappy .
L. B.
Great venue with parking close-by. Fabulous night at Counting Crows gig. Safety of others taken seriously with checks on entry. Helpful staff
J. N.
As you'd expect, a good amount of oxygen. Beyond that I suppose it'd be dependent on the event - most punters seemed more interested in the music than the chemical composition of the air. Their loss.
C. T.
Was in for the Proclaimers concert on 2/12/22. The passage.way on the lower hall was a disgrace, with far too many people using this as a vantage point while others are trying to get to and from the bar and getting stuck in between, and as a result missing some of the concert. There should be security keeping that area clear.
G. S.
My daughter went with her cousins . They had a great time said the security were really good water was being handed out at the front. Thanks for giving the them a excellent experience 👍
M. K.
Well staffed bars and lots of space. Can get exceptionally warm when crowded though and the late curfew time of 11pm can be tricky if travelling home via public transport
D. W.
A fantastic venue . Great views of the stage wherever you are.
P. B.
Was there for Behemoth and Arch Enemy show, staff were brilliant as usual, thanks especially to first aid staff for looking after my friend. We had a brilliant if somewhat crazy night.
C. O.
Really like this venue for these size gigs. Not quite the Barrowlands but very good. Seen The Enemy and The View here in recent weeks and both brilliant.
S. S.
Great venue and the security and bar staff are nice, especially with access issues. However, the drinks are way over-priced. £13.50 for a double whiskey and lemonade.
P. S.
Being disabled, I would thank all staff on making my first gig in 30years an absolutely fantastic and well organised night, from entry to being seated and constantly asked if anything was needed, and on seeing The View ,The Staff were on fire. Thank you .
P. F.
Great venue but the sound can be hit or miss in this place.
Been to see Clutch 3 times here. Twice, the sound was ok, once it was awful.
P. D.
Good for a gig but when sold out like the Proclaimers were, its an accident waiting to happen so much so we had to be moved to the balcony for safety purposes, packed in like sardines should be a definite no,no in this day and age ,attended a few concerts here without the overcrowding and really enjoyed it but when you are packed in for profit it takes away the enjoyment of something you have been looking forward to for a long while.
S. M.
Awesome venue in Glasgow one of the best
V. L.
Great night. Security on the ball once the doors opened no issues straight through.
£1.50 for a normal size bag of Crisps 🙄
C. K.
Staff were amazing at the Marc Rebillet gig. Shony? I couldn’t quite catch her name, was amazing and recommended a “woo woo” which was so so so good for a newbie cocktail drinker like myself, great shout! Great gig, great people! :)
I. M.
There to see the Damned, good venue, great sound. Prices what you would expect, staff friendly, but it was a civilised crowd!
C. B.
Brilliant venue Behemoth & Arch Enemy
R. H.
Smaller more intimate venue compared to others In town
I. R.
Terrific venue
Great bars and just the right size for a gig. Love it
s. b.
First time to the venue, staff were polite and helpful. Venue itself was clean and tidy and overall experience was 5star
A. R.
Great venue for gigs with bars in the dance floor. Amazing ceilings and good acoustics. Bars on the dance floor and the back of the hall. If your a girl and you need the bathroom though give yourself 10 minutes as the toilets are either near stage and you have to get through the crowd or you need to go down 2 flights of stairs. They have started doing o2 priority for priority queuing and for getting your coats in for free (but they only allow so many) otherwise it's £2.50 to get your coat in. Prices for the bar are alright. Bouncers there are great. Brilliant for a walk back to central train station.
J. M.
I always love this venue for music gigs. It's beautiful inside.
Last night I attended with my mum for Paul Young and Go West gig. My mum has mobility issues so after buying tickets I contacted the venue regarding access. Jordyn answered swiftly and confirmed what we needed to do to avoid my mum having to queue as she can't stand for long.
At venue all staff were so professional and friendly. From the gent managing the queue who walked us to the door and introduced us to the door staff managing the access list. From there on in, every single member of staff ensured my mum got into the venue safely and was comfortable walking to her seat. At half time she preferred to sit at back of venue on her seated walker and again several staff stopped to make sure she was comfortable and even offered alternative seats. We left a little early to avoid the crowds and Robert from door security walked with her down the few stairs and even waited with her outside the door to allow me to collect the car from Bridge street underground and bring it round.
My mum and myself were so impressed with all the staff. They really made what was already a great night all the more enjoyable. I was very impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of all staff!
C. E.
Nice venue for a gig. Attended Kip Moore and sat in the unreserved seating on the balcony. Good view and great atmosphere when everything got going. Acoustics sound great too. Building generally has an old feel about it (toilets seem dingy and smelly) but I suppose that's to be expected given the age and design of the building. Would go to another gig there. Staff friendly and helpful.
a. l.
Really nice venue that's not too big, good for more UK intimate concerts. The building itself isn't in great condition but the sound quality was good and the view was good from all the seats in the balcony. Good bar as well, quick service and not too expensive. they even serve double pint servings to save you having to come back to the bar during the concert.
G. S.
Great concert tonight. The O2 always feels like you're in an older era, the only thing missing being smoke. It's an intimate venue and we were up close to the stage
R. R.
Brilliant place to watch live bands . #machinehead kicked ass . First time here and will definitely be back . It hold around 4 thousand with balcony around , has a couple of bars inside the venue . A perfect place to watch metal bands .
D. W.
We’ve now been to a few gigs at this venue and felt compelled to acknowledge how well it does what it does! We are always bowled over by how friendly and welcoming all the staff are. Now that might seem a somewhat cliched sentence so I’l revisit it. ALL staff we’ve ever had any dealings with at the O2 have been first rate! Normally you might expect the odd grumpy exception but we’ve yet to find one! Plenty of bar points inside makes getting refreshments pretty easy despite the crowds although perhaps the pricing is a little on the greedy side! Cloakroom services need to be sorted out as they are just too slow, especially if you have been stood queuing outside in the rain!
C. W.
The security guys were really helpful I have issues with walking due to ms and they spotted it and helped , back last night wasn't a seated event but again security helped and gave me a reserved seat
A. P.
I had access seating. Staff were so helpful. Will be going back to see the Proclaimers in a few weeks.
P. W.
Been here a few times. Nice venue, friendly staff, good sound/acoustics.
J. G.
Went to see Cage the Elephant, the concert itself was amazing. Great place to see a band but where they sell their merchandise is absolutely ridiculous. It was located at the stalls so anyone in the balcony needed to wait until the end...they did say it would be open to all 15 minutes before the end...but really, who wants to miss the last part...not me! When I complained they said it would be open for 30 minutes after the show...slightly better but I also needed to get a train back home. On top of that the t-shirt I wanted was sold out in my size. Felt discriminated against because we had balcony tickets! Very frustrating as this was a gift from my daughters and I wanted a memento...did get something but was 2nd choice.
R. T.
As a venue the sound is not great. Also a bit of a sweatbox but still fun.
J. M.
Scotland Calling staff next to the stage were AMAZING Thank you for the much needed water! X
B. G.
Enjoyed my visit to see Ashley Mcbryde on 1st May. Good venue and an easy walk from the town centre
L. M.
What a trek to the ladies up at the stage when they're are 2 gents at the opposite door end. Other than that, it's a great venue.
S. K.
Absolutely one of the best music venues I have ever attended. Visited a sold out show ( George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic ). The venue is easy to find and a short walk from several nice hotels and central Glasgow. I found the staff to be incredibly customer oriented. Several of the crowd control staff were regularly bringing cups of water to the standing room crowd!! Massive thoughtfulness. Crowd were energetic yet very well mannered! One of the best concert experiences of my life. Shout out to the Managment of the O2 Glasgow!!! You hit a home run.
N. M.
Fantastic venue, very quick to get into the venue after ticket scanned and bag checked. Served at the bar really quickly, barely even a minute wait, staff at the bars and around the venue really friendly. Looking forward to going back for another gig..
S. B.
Went to see Stone Temple Pilots concert on 12.6.19 Good venue, free water available. Easy to reach, very close to Bridge Street Subway station.
G. W.
Great venue first time there
It was a brilliant night especially watching fish the singer singing live
D. H.
A brillian night .
Soft Cell playing.. a great venue and you get up close with the band.. Soft Cell were fantastic...
A. B.
Good sound and can get close to the stage. BUT paying £5.50 for 2 small SOFT DRAFT drinks is a total rip off when actual cost to make is £0.09 !
N. M.
Very warm if you're seated it's very a tight space. Seen a few larger males sit across two seats lol. Excellent fun though. Cola was minging lol
J. K. K.
I was bit surprised kinda small and unorganized concert hall. I went to Vamps concert. I was in Balcony seat.
E. M.
I love this venue for a gig, great sound, lovely building and great view of the stage. Only negative is that it is very very warm.
D. T.
Not overly fond of this venue. Toilets difficult to get to if you're in the middle of the floor, get there late and you'll have an awful vantage point unless you manage to push through people.
But it's like the second biggest music venue in the city, and a lot of bands go here.
S. H.
It's a million times better than ot used to be. They must have given the place a good deep clean during lockdown. The only complaint I would have is that there's not that many toilets and they are quite small, so even for the mens there's normally a queue. But then it is an old building.
S. G.
Nice small venue. Girls toilets are a bit far but everyone can enjoy the show. Parking is just a couple of hundred yards away.
M. M.
Went to see LP here in June, was postponed due to Covid but sooooooo worth waiting for, she was just brillant (and über gorgeous 😍)
Great to be going to gigs again and great to be back at the O2
R. T.
Fantastic place, friendly, helpful staff.
Just wish that the bars would close once the show starts, to stop the saddos who need a drink every 20mins making everyone on the row have to stand up and down, missing the show - and then doing the same thing again 15mins later when the same saddos need to pee.
E. M.
I was a bit sceptical about sitting in the balcony as from past experience I remember it being pretty far back from the stage, and on arrival my memory served correct! I was however converted throughout the course of the night! We saw Shinedown supported by Starset and Press to Meco and they did not dissapoint!! The venue itself is old fashioned and very rustic! Toilets could use a bit of a clean up and revamp and carpets at the bar areas are sticky...but all in all a great venue for music lovers!
A. G.
Been a few times to O2. Scooter was fab (not as good as Braehead Arena last year though). Music, effects were great. Quick service at the bars and good selection of drinks available. The only downfall is the toilets... theres not enough. We waited almost 40 minutes in a queue. (Luckily it was before Scooter started lol)
E. f.
Saw sean paul last night, amazing show but it was freaking hot, they need air condition in there.
G. C.
Visited here for the Star-shaped Festival and for the most part there was a good atmosphere.
However parts of the venue are starting to look a little tired, especially the toilets.
There are plenty of bars throughout the v venue but drinks are over priced in my opinion.
P. J. A.
Best venue in Glasgow, albeit the right peoples are there, caught the charlatans, ian brown last night, and Joey badass$$on December 20th,been going too the venue for years now,24yrs or so,seen the wu tang there, public image,Jimmy Cliff, toots n maytals, the roots, damien marley and nas, cant remember the half, but keep up good work, security staff all cool as as well, you good, they good!thanks for the memories.✌🏽💚
S. S. K.
Love this venue think they pack a wee bit too many in but it's better than the Hydro
S. R.
My partner requires special assistance due to mobility issues and the staff were very efficient and helpful. They made the experience very achievable.
G.
Great venue, queues for toilets can easily be avoided by using the ones upstairs
G. W.
Yes like it and go to all the gigs not happy last viset due to over crowded no room for good view
O. S.
Pretty sweet spot to find really cool concerts, parking right across from venue. Easy to find been here quite a few times. Highly recommend if there is a concert with your favourite artist. Don't think about it just go! Everytime I have been it's been an amazing memory. Nas Wu Tang Clan, Red & Meth, Ashanti, Dope DOD, & more. Tickets are fair not expensive. Highly recommended 🙏🙌
V. K.
Great venue. Poor drinks but for music 5 stars
p. s.
Had the pleasure of visiting with my son ossian to watch Fleet Foxes A brilliant band And a perfect venue hope to be back soon
o. a.
Cool venue with classic theatre boxes looking over a dance floor that has hosted so many class acts. Friendly security, great building, long ques for toilets and the small bars (who accept card and cash) but there is nothing really that can be done about this and is standard venue situation really and when they keep on booking such great acts it’s worth a wee wait now and then.
t.
Incredible atmosphere for Marc Rebillet. A few bars and prices not outrageous
M. M.
Saw Of Monsters of Men there on 31st October 2019, great gig and the venue was good. Could be doing without the "bog troll" pretty insulting someone has to make a living that way!
d. c.
Went with my daughter, staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Especially good with disabled people. Saw staff checking on disabled people a few times during the concert; making sure people were comfortable, had a good view, access to toilets etc. Clean fresh water was given out to those in need. Great atmosphere, clean (enough) [mens] toilet with friendly attendant and assortment of fragrances to keep you feeling fresh. Didn't use the bar so can't comment on that. Music played at a good level that didn't leave my ears ringing for days afterwords.
R. S.
The venue is intimate for seeing your favourite gigs but can do with some tlc..
M. W.
The 02 academy to see a band its all seating quite dear for beers and spirts but not that far from my home. Close to the subway and buses go in and out to the town centre.
L. M.
So much fun for my first gig and I went too see Idlewild
G. K.
Went to see The Enemy and absolutely loved every minute. Had nothing but good experiences at this venue 🙏
d. c.
Great sound in venue ........but the price of the drinks kills the place o2 in Edinburgh the same
K. D.
Love the venue, like the sound quality. And of course if you come to see Mastodon...wow. Is difficult to separate the music from the venue on this particular post.
M. L.
Staff are very polite and friendly. A well organised venue. Large enough and recognised that international acts play there. Plenty of bars and toilets.
M. C. F. S.
Helpful staff, took us through to bench type seating which meant no stairs to climb. Had a great view. Brilliant night with The Dualers
K. M.
Been to this place loads but the last time I went was brilliant. This is the first time I've had to use the Access List and most of the staff were brilliant. Specifically the security at the door. When we got in, a member of staff showed us to the different seating areas and different bars etc. Also pointed out the disabled toilet which I didn't even know existed. However, at the end of the night i asked for the key for this and it took 2 bar staff to actually know what I was talking about. It was absolutely fine but all the good disability and accessible stuff going on could have been let down by a bit better training for bar staff. They just sort of left me standing at the bar for a while.
S. D.
The O2 Academy offers a decent sound for bands and with the building being an old theatre / cinema the slope of flooring and stairs allows decent view of the stage. Went for Machine Head and loved it
v. k.
At O2 last night for Brett Eldridge. He was fantastic, brilliant band. The security staff dealt with an issue we had with professionalism that is very rare these days. They were kind, courteous and gave A1 service. Thank you Sean (management), Davie (supervisor), outside gentlemen and all others we encountered. You made our night and we are eternally thankful for it. Its lovely to know you are in good hands when their service is called upon.
A. G.
First time at this venue which in its previous life was a cinema. My gig was The Travelling Wilburys Experience so myself and most of the audience required lots of seats!!! Interesting venue with a very period feel about it.
H. M.
Been many times to various gigs and it's a great venue. However tonight's seats are row H in the balcony and are wee pull down seats in the aisle which are tiny, very low down and extremely uncomfortable. I'm 5 feet and am struggling so I'm assuming my husband who is 6 feet and our friend who is 6 feet 4, are going to have great difficulty standing up at the end of the evening and will be in agony tomorrow. Actually I think taking money for these seats is scandalous! 4* because generally a great venue but not tonight I'm afraid☹️
F. M.
The venue was brilliant. We needed support with accessibility, the team at the O2 before and on the evening of the event could not have done more to make sure we had a great evening. Awesome venue and team ! Thank you
I. H.
Was Future Islands tonight and what a performance.
As we love them, the band loved us equally. Was their last gig night before going home for a well deserved rest .
Please if you read my review I ask one thing?
Live music beats any night out so please make sure you go to any venue where you live, and it supports new music/ acts.
C. C.
Absolutely amazing venue loved every gig I have been to
C. Y.
Staff were accommodating and really nice, venue was so amazing! (Also the show was great as well)
g. j. f.
Brilliant Devin Townsend gig brilliant beer and atmosphere and very friendly steward amazing night thanks 02 Graeme
D. P.
Great venue, BUT the price of drink has got ridiculous. £6.60 a pint!!! Then they wonder why it's not busy for the support acts. Lots of local pubs close by and the prices are a fraction of the cost.
S. T.
Great place to attend a concert. Sound isn't always great so worth moving about when support is to get the best position. Easy access from M74 so handy to get to
H. C.
Saw Rick Wakeman and the English Ensemble.
Perfect. Nothing more can be said. Perfect.
Poor guy who did the warm up, Adam Reid, didn't get the respect he deserved. Bar was open. What more can I say. Couldn't hear much of what was going on on the stage for the noise from the rabble at the bar.
No appreciation or respect for the audience or the performer.
K. G.
Love this venue, Just been to see Gary Numan, great show from all the band. Divine Shade was a superb opening act very impressive set will keep look out for them.
R. T.
Great venue, sound quality is brilliant
D. W.
Really cool venue. You can see it has a ton of history behind it. Getting to the toilet during a gig/intermission can be difficult due to size and location.
H. N.
This is a good venue, big enough to generate a good atmosphere, small enough that you feel close to the band. The acoustics are good and even on the main floor, you have, a good view. There are several permanent bars, so there is a choice of beers and a good selection of drinks. The security staff are unobtrusive and friendly and there are plenty of bar staff. 100m or so from Bridge Street underground station, which also has parking (not free but not expensive). Also plenty of bus routes pass right outside. 15 min walk to city centre.
G. C.
Great little venue, good staff, and a brilliant gig (Fish's Vigil's End tour). Bar prices at £6 a pint are I guess what you expect these days. Didn't spoil the night and it was a cracking evening. Accessible entry is available, parking nearby, but very limited on-street. Great public transport links though.
L. C.
Nice small venue to up close and personal with your favourite bands. Plenty of bars. Only issue is the facilities (at least the Men's)
E.
On the smaller side of venues for gigs but it's a nice old building
A. M.
Pretty close to City centre. Easy to get to. Good venue, great sound and the Pixies were excellent.
R. M.
Excellent concert and helpful stewards.drink prices spoil it a bit though. Over-inflated prices and in a plastic cup.
D. M.
Had a great time at the Example gig. There's a bar but I never used it.
C. M.
Saw softcell here.
Was our first time at this venue.
Staff were great handling the queue, vaccine passports checked in queue and tickets at the door.
Inside great bar areas throughout, plenty of staff so no problems getting a few vodkas throughout the show.
Smokers catered for with temporary fenced section out front door once show started.
Toilets not too bad either.
D. W.
This was the second time at the o2 academy easy to get to we used the subway that stoped right next to t
It and we got picked up at the door and it was easy for my dad to find
S. B.
Great venue, saw my favourite band Clutch there
A. R.
Good venue. I sat in the balcony watching the mosh pit below.
D. W.
I think it's a great venue to get close in person with the artists, could be doing with a bit more variety of alcoholic beverages since there are a few bars located within the venue.
J.
Saw NIN here. Was an amazing night. Wonderful venue. Didn't see a car park, although I'm sure there is at least one.
K. C.
First visit to the venue. Was there to see Trivium. Fantastic venue very easy to get to. It's right next to Bridge St tube station.
e. m.
Seen rag and bone man here on Monday night fantastic gig o2 was electric and sound amazing best gig I have seen in years,
C. C.
Queues aren't really managed that great and the way they have people queuing is a bit of a headache, staff were lovely really helpful. Had lots of space where we sat but not so great for shorter people or younger kids as it was a struggle to see
C. W.
It doesn’t look like much, but the O2 is one of Glasgow’s best music venues.
Brilliant acoustics, very easy to get to, and the number of bars makes it easy to get drinks. Toilets could be nicer and larger though…
D. C.
First time ever in this music venue and I have to say up there with the best. Was in the stalls and at the front no problem.
J. E.
I was surprised at how big this venue really was compared to the ABC O2 (rip...). It is also incredibly easy to get to at anytime of the day due to it being situated directly next to Bridge Street subway (beware of closing times though). Another thing I noticed was the abundance of smaller bars around the hall, something which I deeply appreciated
C. M.
Perfect ..Lp was fantastic and the 02 was fantastic they reserved seats for me and my party as my legs are sore I had to use my crushes ..they couldent have been any nicer. 5 star service .thank you for the awesome night =) peace out
o.
Old theatre that's been converted into a concert venue. Very nicely preserved. Good sound too.
B. M.
Great for listening to your favourite bands. Very well organised.
D. S.
Amazing old converted theater, the sound is phenomenal and the staff are lovely and helpful. Only thing is the price of booze but its not limited to here so 5 stars!
K. G.
Special venue for music. Great bar staff and sound
S. B.
Great venue for music, was here due to fire at O2 ABC which I prefer. Just had a soft drink which is reasonable priced. Good service at bar which you need when place is packed.
D. M. (.
Always a great venue, staff well organised.
B.
Good venue for every band. Avoid the balcony if you can. Easy access to the bar, but the toilets are a bit grim.
C. A.
Awesome place. Plenty of bars. They pack you in.
M. A.
Just love this place and Plan B just blew me away! Great views from the standing Balcony areas upstairs. Bar service can be a little slow and also drinks prices a bit above average but still a great Gig venue.
N. -. G.
Great venue. 4 bars and good views of the stage!
N. S.
Amazing venue!!!! Saw Troye Sivan there last weekend, was incredible! Staff were so nice and helpful and I had such a good view of Troye and I had the best night ever!!!!!
P. b. y.
Class venue that'd I love to play one day
Seen pixies here and was amazing for sound, lighting and spacing
Bars everywhere too which is always good for it
S.
Great venue for atmosphere and sound , it was a great night
M. S.
Drinks are a shocking price but music was good door staff were nice
P. S.
Great venue for smaller scale gigs.
Biggest downside is the price of a drink!
M. D.
Excellent small venue, and bar prices are not to bad
P. M.
Great gig, sound and light show were amazing and Volbeat always put on a good show. Only thing that let it down was the seat, probably the most uncomfortable seat I have had the misfortune to park my butt in. Next time I go to the O2 Academy, I will be standing.
T. J.
The O2 was very good we went to a concert there where we had to queue outside for a while so would defo take a coat if raining when we went in the security was good and a full frisk down was done bags checked ect. We went up the stairs to the main hall where there is bars all over then down on to the dance floor if you have tickets to stand,or you can sit upstairs on the massive balconies a lot of small balconies are also available you can see the stage from.any seat or standing. A really good venue and would come here again
J. S.
Good venue, big enough to feel like a big gig but it also feels like a small local gig at the same time. The staff are on the ball and the security guy asked me "What was my favorite dinosaur?". I haven't been asked that since I was 5 and I still had an answer ready. We should ask that question more.
t. g. r. c.
Saw The Ruts DC and The Stranglers tonight, the sound was very good, great gigs.
j. f.
Loved it loved Jack savoretti but I got my water taken from me which I needed for my condition so I was upset about that.. Chairs are very uncomfortable when your sitting for hours but it's a lovely old fashioned building... Outside waiting should be sheltered we got soaked.. Its not in a ideal place
K. S.
Seata not that comfortable but still a good venue for an intimate gig
L. M.
First gig since well before lockdown, went to see L. P did not disapoint. The venue is amazing, all the staff were excellent, thank you..
D. J.
Lovely venue to watch The Enemy , really enjoyed apart from the price of the drinks, very overpriced.
A.
To be honest the O2 Academy is simply an old cinema with the seats out and a bar fitted. However the five stars are for the staff. They couldn't have been more helpful and made sure a couple of older codgers were seated and looked after.
Parked at the underground (£5.70) - be prepared for a wait to get out as only one exit.
P. L.
Absolutely brilliant music venue. Bouncing floor once the crowd starts rocking.
J. G.
Fantastic atmosphere..
Future Islands gig..
A. M.
I would like to thank the guys on Saturday night for letting my daughter in to collect her brother ,it was very much appreciated ,thanks again
R. W.
Large capacity venue. One bar at the back and one closer to the stage. Good viewing from most spots. Toilets kept clean. Staff do their best to get the queues into the venue down quickly. Issues only come up when people don't follow the pre-show rules.
E. S.
Beautiful building..
Great venue for the Elbow concert.. 👌
J. M.
Was there for a fish gig great venue loved it
I. S.
Dynamite wee venue. Great bar staff and all the staff in general, security and cloak room.
A. G.
Wonderful concert with Jack Savoretti.
Venue a bit dated and seats tight with next door. Staff very good and easy entrance and exit despite being packed.
I. F.
Brilliant Venue , Easy Parking at underground Station , plenty bars and big stage
N. M.
Fab venue, great bars. Balcony booth seating had an excellent view and meant that we didn't have to stand next to too many people!
S. b. t.
Like an ice box up in the balcony. Great acoustics though.
B. M.
Brilliant venue security and staff were great 😉
R. E.
Good venue but wish they would start selling decent beer
C. H.
great venue and atmosphere, acoustics very good, front balcony was the perfect view of the CULT
D. M.
Been to a phew gigs and security always been spot on, was at Olivia Rodrigo the other day and particularly security outside, just very helpful and friendly:)
R. C.
Great venue, but needs a gents toilets easy accessible from main floor
C. C.
Always a great crowd, sound quality great. Only thing is that the female toilets are at the front of the crowd, very inconvenient for the women that are not near the front
D. W.
Decent venue, good staff, very helpful & friendly
E. V.
Paid about £6.50 for a can of Guinness. Doug Stanhope was brilliant 👏
S.
Good venue for a concert, drinks a bit expensive 😭😭£6.60 for a pint of cider
R. C.
Very well organised and lovely staff.
Alcoholic drinks £5 but in a small glass. Not too bad though!
Mabel was great!
Thank you for an amazing time!
V. W.
Heading back from armoury/big country/skids gig.... brilliant night with family etc ...jobson in fine form....the punk medley took me back 44 years!!
R. R.
Staff were brilliant considering everyone showed up at the same time to get in. Teenagers, eh? Covid passport at the ready to get in if your paying attention!! Great venue. Always a good time
A. F.
Great place for live gigs. Great night see The Cadillac Three.
j. b.
1st time at a concert in there.
Quite a cold place
M.
First time here...good old fashioned music venue...always a shame when the bars are part of the auditorium as it puts the focus on drinking/socialising for some and not on the band they came to see
Y.
Great venue. Staff are nice and wine was good!
H. H.
Had a brill night here at the foreverland gig. All the staff were so lovely. Outside security even came over as we we're waiting for our lift home to check that we were ok. Very good venue. The cloakroom was handy. Fantastic music and atmosphere. Loved it!!!
h. m.
PIL were awesome, great venue, no issues with entrance and exit...good views of stage
J. S.
Clean toilets, not super overpriced bar, great views of the stage! Could do with a couple more security people to handle the line and people who cut it but overall good
S. C.
Great atmosphere, always energetic and fun gigs. Plenty of easily accessible bars for drinks, friendly staff. Sound is sometimes a little muddy.
K. K.
Fantastic Venue! Shocked the acoustics were so good! Saw one of my all time favourite bands here! Can't recommend this this place enough!
C. O. (.
Staff were fantastic. So helpful and polite. Seating in dire need of modernizing. As a venue. Beautiful and clean. But don't get me started on the act tonight.
F. E.
Staff were good and efficient. Usual daft bar prices though, although queues were short. Small venue so everyone gets a great view of stage. Loved it.
j. r.
Seated this time .
Staff pleasant.
Great show
C. H.
Good mid-sized venue where we saw Rick Wakeman. The sightlines were good and the large bar is handily placed at the back of the auditorium. Toilets are a bit cramped and old school!
J. G.
Went to see Rick Wakeman, superb sounds. Only downside is £11.50 for a double vodka and Red Bull. Thoroughly enjoyed the concert.
C. W.
Good organisation by all concerned. Doors left open so fresh air getting in. Not too squashed in either. Plenty of security visible in case of trouble of which there was none.
F. D.
O2 Glasgow is great, much more intimate than its Edinburgh counterpart and the staff are friendly
W. K.
Great gig. Great artists. Very old and beautiful theatre. Perfect place for smaller gigs
T. T.
London drink prices but I guess thats the plan for all businesses now after taking a hit during the unprecedented closures. Hike them up. Still great venue for gigs with the sloped floor. Toilets need more space. Always had to squeeze in to get in and out.
C. D.
Great atmosphere.
Pretty expensive bar though.
B. S.
Went to the ABCD tour - loved the performance and definitely a good atmosphere- I am not giving full stars however because it was £2.50 per item in the cloak room and could only pay cash - I only had my bank card on me so had to keep my bag and jacket on me and because people just throw away their drinks it got all wet on the floor - nice staff but.
m. m.
Really nice venue. Not a bad seat in the house
D. S.
Great concert, balcony seats had good view and great sound. Helpful friendly staff who made check in easy and we're constantly cleaning touch points.
J. G.
Big enough space to move around in but cramped toilet facilities
F. S.
Great venue and lovely staff! Made the experience enjoyable and easy
S. W.
Superb venue for live music. Not a huge venue (capacity of around 2000-2500) but great acoustics and clear views of the stage. This gives the gig a more intimate feel and gets you more involved with the performance than is sometimes the case at larger venues. Plenty bars inside the hall, all with a good view of the stage, so you don't miss a minute of the show. My only complaint would be the need for more and larger toilet facilities as the male one, that I used at the back of the hall, could only accommodate 3 people at a time. As a result there was always large queues so a strong bladder is required.
D.
Good venue, reasonable city centre prices for drink. Could do with some upgrades of the seating and toilets but other than that a good venue.
K. S.
Not the biggest venue I've been to, but good. Straight, easy entrance for those who want to be in the first row. From the outside it doesn't look very nice, but it's not really that important.
M. C.
Enjoyed Godsmack concert. Absolutely fantastic 👏
W. A.
Just back from seeing Jack Savoretti at the O2. And I felt the need to speak of our experience. The concert itself was fantastic! The whole time we were there the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. My husband has health issues which the staff, both inside and outside of the venue, went out of their way to accommodate his needs. They were so helpful and kind, nothing was too much trouble for them, thank you to you all. Last but not at all least, thank you Jack for a fabulous night out!
A.
Great venue. Proper gig feel.
The event staff where great.
Shout out to Mark for all his help.
Top man.
M. C.
Shout out to the amazing staff who looked out for me at last night’s Michael Kiwanuka concert. I had a bit of a claustrophobic covid related panic attack and they were totally awesome and supportive to the greetin’ wreck that was me. Thanks!
A. T.
Not a bad venue, did feel it was very overcrowded considering we are still under covid restrictions.
£12 for 2 drinks I found was expensive. A lot cheaper in the SSE Hydro
B. C.
Fantastic atmosphere and comfy seats up on the balcony with great views for the people who prefer seats
I. B.
Universally recognised top venue in Scotland bands enjoy a warm Glaswegian reception, great sound quality, ample staff available short queues at the bars, various single sex toilets available on each floor clean and well maintained, sufficient free parking around the building
D. I.
Went first time to see Headie One 20th Nov. Good space and relatively clean place seeing as it's for live music. Expensive af so recommend you get drunk beforehand! Great experience!
j. s.
Went to see the dualers amazing atmosphere. Only thing that spoiled was the price of the drink was shocking. A can of carlsberg and a small black current and soda were nearly £10.
L. M.
Had a great night but unfortunately people around the bar where so noisy, like really noisy, it was hard to hear the artist at times. Also people packed themselves on the only stairs making it impossible to get to the toilet, massive fire risk. What happened yo any sort of security I havd no idea. Also not a mask to me seen!
G. I.
Had a great night at Heels to Hell. Venue was amazing, staff were friendly and professional. Clean facilities. Great bars.
P. G.
Great venue have seen many bands over last couple years never dissapointed...
J. M.
Great venue for any concert, Intimate but spacious!! The architecture inside the building only adds to the atmosphere! Drinks are expensive though and security is a bit Gustavo like! The sound system and lighting is excellent making it a great place to take in an event.
M. B.
Great venue for small-gig experience with big-name bands. (Remember if you have O2 as a mobile provider you can get priority queueing and freebies!)
T. D.
As a summer venue this location is challenging. I have never been as hot in my life for so long. The concert was amazing and the acoustics were great. We could see and hear really well but we were horrendously hot. We were right at the back of the balcony so presumably all the heat was where we were but since the band commented as soon as they got on stage how hot it was it clearly wasn’t just us. The second concert same place wasn’t nearly as hot thank goodness. Security is good and efficient on entry. The venue is easy to navigate inside and was clean. I’ve already been back and I would go back again but maybe not in the height of summer.
J. S.
Great venue for concerts and easy to find
M. D.
Had a great time the music and venue were amazing!
T.
Great venue for gigs. I counted to five bars in total so no need to stand and wait even with a full house. Good visibility towards the stage from most positions due to different levels. Also nice with the bar upstairs where it was much quieter when you wanted to get away from the bands and the notice for a wee while.
c.
Great venue, bar staff were great with 3 bars, drink is a bit pricey though. Been quite few times over the years, would recommend.
P.
Decent gig venue for medium sized crowds, queueing sometimes for entry, good bar. If you are drinking near the venue beforehand select your boozer carefully.
E. C.
Good venue, we seen the Wombats here on Friday
Y. B.
Great venue, staff and ushers looked after us well, amazing night was had 👌
C. H.
Great sound, venue, and personnel! If you want to see a live show, this is the place.
D. D.
Five stars and many thanks to the door staff / stewards / security who again took the extra step in providing a first class service tonight at the Rick Wakeman concert.
A. C.
Great venue for music gigs.
E. R.
Reasonable venue, sound clarity could have been better
m.
Festival of the dead was fantastic. DJ was alright
A. G.
Great venue for acoustics, my only issue with it was that the gig was very warm and cramped. It seemed like there was no ventilation whatsoever, and everyone including the band commented on just how warm it was. Apart from that it was a great place, just be careful if attending a sold out show.
D. D.
Good sized venue with a seated balcony and standing only downstairs. Holds 2500 from memory. Not huge like the Hydro.
T. C.
Loved it.Great place for music.
l. c.
Love this place, definitely the place to be if you wanna see any of your favourite acts or DJs and I always meet new people while am there, the security are 2nd to none.
S. M.
One of the better venues to "see" a band, place has great atmosphere and sound quality is usually excellent. Big enough for a good size crowd and atmosphere but still get the up close feel watching a band. Always enjoy a gig here, staff that work the venue are decent and friendly, easy enough to get to from center of town on foot, underground station close by, usually on street parking nearby.
L. A.
Brilliant venue, with both standing and seated areas. Staff really helpful as I have ltd mobility at the moment and need crutches... really good acoustics was able to see and hear the band from the balcony area perfectly. Would definitely recommend and go back again.
J. O.
Good location with access to many bus stops and in proximate distance to the central train station, a subway and the bus station. But Event centre does not have own car park.
L. M.
Great venue for music, but some more toilets would be super!
T. V.
Had an amazing night with my sister at Sean Paul concert
9. j.
Great venue for a gig. Has seating upstairs and standing on several levels downstairs. Has plenty of bars also. Would definitely recommend the O2 for a gig
T. M.
Great venue for live music!
A. H.
Megan the bar maid was an absolute angel. My friend and I saw a drag show and she was so lovely and helpful and very chatty she is a credit to your venue! X
J. B.
Absolutely Brilliant venue! Great parking in the park and ride down the road.
J. S.
Good venue but the acoustics were a bit off, too bassy and couldn't hear the vocals properly.
J. R.
Awesome staff, great help brilliant venue and amazing gig (ADTR)
a. d.
You can buy a 2 pint glass of beer 🤘🤘🤘🤘🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻 still a great venue
I.
I've been to the O2 academy for concerts and shows several times now and I have to say that it's got a great atmosphere and the acoustics are absolutely fantastic. Most of the places to stand have got a great view of the stage so you can easily see what's going on.
The only downsides are the cost of the drinks inside the venue. We were charged £7 for 3 bottles of water!!! And the toilets are a bit small and cramped feeling and really could do with a bit of upgrading.
Overall a great venue as long as you don't want to drink anything or have to go to the loo.
d. d.
I personally find this venue a bit awkward to get to unless you drive. The venue itself is dated and in need of an upgrade with little or no seated area's and the toilets we're poor. On a plus the gig was excellent (king king) and the sound was great.
S. Q.
Fast service at the bar and the band was incredible. Only thing is the wiring at the ground floor balcony can obstruct the view but it was amazing!
C. C.
Good venue, but too hot when we were there (June)
S. C.
Perfect size venue. You can actually see the performers without having to watch a screen. And the staff are so helpful and professional
a. t.
Love this venue usually but at the Volbeat gig tonight my partner and I had allocated seats in the disabled section. When we got there we were hurriedly shown over to two benches on the left hand side both of which were parallel with the side walls not the stage so for anyone to see they had to sit and twist to see the stage. There were a few people in the section standing with VIP lanyards so I'm not sure if the VIPs and accessibility guests were all put together but it was the first time I have not really enjoyed a gig and I have been there loads of times.
A. M.
Terrific intimate gig atmosphere. Terrific acoustics.
I don't know if it's a house P. A. system but it was the best audio quality I have heard at any gig I've ever been at. My first was in 1970!
I'll be back for future gigs. 🎸🎤🏴
B.
Great fun place with lovely staff. Beer rather pricy but apart from that, a great venue.
B. V.
First time at this venue and loved it! The sound was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My son has Asperger's and I accompanied him on a companion ticket. The staff really made the whole experience easy and trouble free for us both. I'm sure we'll be attending further gigs at this venue in the future.
S. M.
Fantastic staff, hassle free bar and a belting venue. Rag n bone man was out of this world.
R. M.
Great place to go for a gig
W. E.
Busy venue, good security on way in. Some folk the the worse for drink which is annoying, really shouldn't be served. Not much by way of gents toilets.
Staff were good on the night, pleasant and helpful. Pity there wasn't seating but maybe that depends on the number of tickets sold for the gig.
Hawkwind were amazing, space rock alive and well.
C. Y.
jordan was very helpful in making the venue feel safe and inclusive. the venue is okay it’s just a venue when is the abc reopening that was better
L. M.
A grubby little venue space inside a beautiful art deco building. The place is tired looking & isn't wearing well. I would love to see it restored to its former glory.
There's 3 tiers in the standing area on the ground floor so finding a decent spot to see the stage isn't usually a problem, even if you're short.
The venue looks a bit sad these days & the atmosphere at some recent gigs could only be described as 'flat' - it's a real pity because I remember seeing some amazing bands there.
L. D.
It was a lovely small intimate venue and toilets were constantly being cleaned when we were at the London Grammar gig, however the stairwells became blocked and it was infuriating trying to get to any of the bars. Hardly anyone wore masks going to and from the bars/toilets plus we never got asked to show our vaccine passports.
V. S.
Good location, fast entrance, plenty of bars
C. S.
Enjoyed the Bohemians - tribute to Queen. Great night 👌
J. M.
Roasting but good venue. Bar prices too steep. Dont like you stand upstairs.
L. E.
Extortionate bar prices drop the star rating. The venue is great, good acoustics and well laid out. We were standing and had a decent view, other friends were sitting and they all said they had a good view too. However, 3 drinks at the bar cost £19. For me that's insane. It meant we only got the one round. Lower your prices and I bet your takings would go up as people would go back for more. Yes, it's a captive audience, but at the price, most people I spoke to were happy to not bother drinking.
M. D.
Seating is very cramped. Good sound and lighting. Expensive beer ! Needs internally decorated. Also needs air conditioning.
M. W.
First time at this venue, atmosphere was great, the bar staff and security personnel were second to none... brilliant experience, hope to be back soon 🤩👍🏼
J. B.
Good venue, excellent acoustics. Only caveat being the disgusting non alcoholic beer for drivers.
K. M.
Great gig rag and bone man amazing x but !!!did not feel safe we were packed in like sardines no masks and covid pass wasn't checked going in so left early
C. J.
Nice enough venue with quick service at the bars. Slightly sloping venue so decent enough view all round if average height. Security were good and friendly at event. Toilets a bit small for the gents so don't leave it to the last minute if desperate :)
N. D.
Brilliant night. With grandson and his mum . Dermot Kennedy
T. D.
Great venue. Great view from standing and great view from upstairs. Drinks are not cheap but staff and stewards are all great friendly and helpful. Easy to get to. 5 minute walk from City centre and plenty of free parking in surrounding area and public transport links include buses and underground.
J. G. C.
Good place good staff
H. R.
Good to have a bar serving throughout the event and many people enjoyed this too judging by the amount of tumblers left on the floor. Stage not too high so the relationship between performer and audience was good.
Cleaners worked hard to keep the toilets clean and fresh throughout the show.
l. M.
Had yet another amazing visit to see ragnbone man, pretty easy to find using Google maps
A. G.
First time attending this venue, and could really recommend it. Won't be my last visit.
J. V.
Awesome venue with great staff 👍
C. M.
One of the best gig venues out there.
Seen The Stranglers on Friday night and they were brilliant.
A. P.
As someone who had recently broken there ankle, I was expecting this to be a bit of a disaster, I was completely WRONG!! I emailed and adviced them of my situation which they replied fast and with exact instructions of what I had to do. When I got there the security team could not have been any better they assissted me to my seat, had someone close by incase I needed to get up to assist me to where I was going and then helped me basically get to my car! I could not speak more highly of the way they assisted me!

This is one of my favourite concert venues in Glasgow, because you can get a good view of the stage not matter where you are. Only downside is that they now put the merchandise stall inside the concert area, it's in the standing area, which means if you have a balcony ticket you cannot access it. I prefer to sit on the balcony, so I get I never buying any more merchandise.

Superb venue, with excellent acoustics and Atmosphere. Would highly recommend this venue.

Had a great night. The seats seem not the best but when the band comes in and you stand up.....you forget how crazy the seats are x
N. M.
Great venue for live music (as long as you don't need a seat). Big stage, good view from most areas, and good sound. Beer a bit expensive and nasty, but par for the course.

Fantastic up close and personal venue, we loved it!!

Great gig venue. Intimate too. You get some great bands here and you feel like you’re right in the heart of the gig wherever you are in the place.
Great bar staff and you don’t need to wait too long for a drink.

Can't praise the staff enough for the care they showed me. I have disability issues and was allowed in before the main crowd and escorted to my seat. This was with prior arrangement. After the show, care was still given outside the venue while waiting for my lift. Great visibility of the stage, great concert, but the seats were incredibly uncomfortable. I would go again though. Thank you kind staff.

Great visit to see Dermot Kennedy. All lateral flow checks conducted before entering the venue however the lack of masks inside was a little concerning considering the guidance issued by the venue and ticketmaster.
B. F.
Good mid sized venue. I saw Within Temptation here. Acoustics were OK. I sat in the balcony, and had a decent view of the stage. Doors don't open early enough, and you will end up queuing if you want in the front. Take a warm jacket!

Great little venue!! Sound was amazing! Staff where lovely! Bastille where insane!

Great venue with friendly and efficient staff. Most importantly sound is excellent.
R. M.
Always have a great night here, pricey bar but the 2 pint cup is a welcome bonus.
C. W.
The sound quality is not that great but if you choose your band wisely they'll pull it off and make it work. I do recommend the owners of the venue really invest in some better acoustics as support bands always sound awful. Seen Rob Zombie's show here and it was epic though.

Good venue for a gig, same the people on the door are the way they are

Been to many gigs here, and have grown to love it despite its flaws. Very expensive bar is a major negative - nearly a fiver for a pint of their bog standard lager loses points. But it allows great views if you find the right spots. And if you get the chance to see a gig from a balcony alcove, it can be truly wonderful.

fantastic venue but bar a bit pricey

Fantastic venue, and the most courteous, helpful and friendly staff.

Probably one of the best venues in Glasgow for a gig, the O2 is located a short walk away from Glasgow central station and a subway station. The venue has great acoustics and looks incredible. The standing area is more fun but the seated seats offer a good view too. They host a wide variety of music on a daily basis.

Excellent venue, never had any issues with door staff. Security inside can be a little hit and miss, I got pulled up and threatened to be removed for taking videos (I was taking a photo and an announcement at the beginning said that was allowed) however said nothing to the drunk guy who was shouting regularly and being abusive to people!

Great venue and great atmosphere. Never felt too busy or crowded despite (Skunk Anansie) being a sold out gig. Personally, I think this venue is v good acoustically too. Within easy reach of the city centre.

It's not really big but the ambiance is great!

Excellent venue for live music

I'm showing my age here, but the last time I attended this venue it was the Coliseum cinema (Krakatoa East of Java, 1968). Besides the stall seating area being torn out to make space for a standing auditorium and a couple of extra bars (of the drinking variety) I didn't see any major changes. For me, that was a good thing and added familiarity to the atmosphere that contributed to my enjoyment of the show. I don't know much of Jack Savoretti's music and was there as a treat gifted by my daughter. He has a marvelous singing voice and the the cosy venue lent intimacy to his largely love song oriented music. I had a blast and would be happy to go back.

Great space for a gig. The sound could be better but the atmosphere and layout are top notch.

Drink is overpriced other than that friendly staff and good atmosphere

Can't beat this place for a concert. Top class, plenty of good friendly helpful staff. You are still ability to get a drink during the concert at a reasonable price. Well done 02 Glasgow.

Love this venue. Lots of places to go other than the pit at the front 😅 so close to the artist too
J. B.
Not bad as a venue, certainly enjoyed it more than I remembered from a few years ago. Main bad at the entrance area and a few more dotted about make it easy for people to get a drink. The old cinema style hall with balcony certainly give it a good look and atmosphere.
The whole experience is let down (and marked down by a star) for the toilet attendant who basically shouted at everyone in the loo to give him money. Felt like some kind of early 90's nightclub, bet even in those days the guys didn't ask everyone for money just offered you a hand towel and hoped for a donation. Come on O2, you can do better than what is essentially paid begging to your customers.
M.
Great night, great music, great venue 2000 people all sharing common ground, united through music in a world defined by division, need to remember how it felt inside the venue singing along with the lyrics when we go return to our places of work on Monday.
M. A.
Pretty decent music venue and the sound is good but it can get really hot inside. It's in dire need of air conditioning.
K. M.
Travelled up for the Festival of Light held at the venue. Security were friendly and helpful on arrival and the bar staff in the upstairs bar were good too. The event was a little underwhelming but we had fun all the same and some of the acts were entertaining to watch!
J. L.
Attended The Stranglers gig, lovely wee venue, from security staff through to cloakroom staff, bar staff, etc all were very helpful.
R. H.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Great venue. Only thing for me is the times I've been here, when the artist/band/entertainment speak the sound system seems very distorted and it's really hard to hear what is being said clearly.
A. K.
Great venue but drinks are overpriced

Great concert Rick Wakeman only down side being a big guy the seating was tight
J. S.
Drink very over price £14.40 for 2 vodkas.
Great venue for gigs tho

Great venue close to city centre awesome sound and friendly staff

First time in this venue for Day of the Dead.. Huge amount of space...a stage, dance floor. Not so much seating downstairs but does have a balcony. About 4/5 small bars, toilets, cloakroom £2 to leave coat etc..🎶🎼

Great venue that could/should be awesome. This place has hosted some marvellous artists from a broad spectrum but the sound quality can be quite inconsistent. The lighting engineer was on point at The Pixies last night though, superb visuals! My chief gripe though is the unnecessary bathroom attendant. It's not a club yet this guy hands you paper towels in the tiny access corridor to the toilet and asks if you can smell the p*ssy. It's really not cool. Other than that, great!
E. M.
Went to see Inside the Staircase, didn't get a good look of the place but it was big and there was plenty of seats available. The seats weren't comfortable at all but we had a whole row to ourselves. Bit of a random place to have the venue but all round all good
J. M.
Fantastic venue for music, comedy probably isn't the best here. The toilets are to either side of the stage and every time someone went to them you would be blinded by the fluorescent lights and the act would be drowned out by the dryers.
W. F.
Beautiful venue. Classic

The O2 Academy is a music venue that has been converted from a theatre. Due to this is has a main standing area close to the stage with bars along the walls along with two raised standing sections with bars near the entrance. In addition to the standing section there is seating upstairs. The raised areas and style of the building give a unique feel the the venue and the sound quality has always been good.
The only downside is that the venue is a reasonable walk from the centre of Glasgow and the toilets where found to be a little dirty. Apart from these minor issues the O2 Academy is a great venue to watch live music which i would highly recommend.

This place was OK. Not the best and not the worst. We went to see Jessie J here and I don't know if it's due to where we were standing or if it was just the sound set up but we could barely make out any of the words and even when she was just talking to the crowd we struggled to make out what she was saying. Might just be the acoustics of the place but its something you'd think they would check. Also the drink from the bar is quite expensive. Think I was about £19 to £20 maybe more for 2 double vodkas. Could have got a bottle for that 😬
J. G.
Have been here a couple times, saw Ariana Grande here and was a blast! There are standing places near the stage and then seats elevated above the crowd. Very good place to see your favorite artist!
C. C.
Great wee venue. Easy to get to on the subway or the bus. Been twice this month already!
C. C.
Been to this venue many a time over the year and decent venue, soundsystem can be a hit or a miss depending on the gig/night that's on. Drinks prices are reasonable but the toilets ain't the best
I. P.
Gets many great live acts and is a good size. However, the sound quality is variable and many a gig has been ruined by awful audio. Also, bar prices are high and they rip bands off with merchandise sales.

Wheelchair client care for my son was good. He had a blast and after the show a lovely steward cleared the way through right to the road so he could get out of the crowds. Will definitely go back.

Just heading home from seeing Trixie Mattel at the 02. Cannot praise the wonderful staff enough. I am disabled and was using a walking stick this evening. I had phoned only yesterday to enquire about assistance and alternative seating. I was placed on an access list. When I arrived at the venue I was able to go in first to find my seat and was accompanied, then explained where everything was that I might need and the thought the night the lovely Robert checked on me to make sure I was alright. Everyone I came in contact with was lovely and very concerned, I felt completely looked after and can't wait to return. These guys are doing access right! One happy gal tonight ❤

Every gig I've been to here has been fantastic. Brilliant atmosphere, awesome venue. Could do with better beer selection though.

Brilliant Venue for Glasgow!
I went to see Hozier in December 2018!
Excellent door staff!
Excellent stewards at the event!
Could not fault anything about this venue and its staff!
Outstanding! Would love to come to another concert here!
My usual O2 gig is Newcastle! Where again the same is true of their staff and venue.
Saw Y & T James Arthur Seasick Stevie and the amazing Robert Plant and his Senegalese Shape Shifters!
