D. L.Great venue where you are so close to the act you are seeing. Great view from the balcony. Intimate venue that even sells 2 Pinter's at the bar - saves on visits. Acoustic sound was excellent, and for my first gig there, overall I was really impressed. Look forward to going there again!!
P. S.First time here ,managed to get street parking near academy which was good as all the car parks were full. A big queue for a sold out Duran Duran gig ,but got in quite quickly through the security checks.inside was rimmed but people seemed to get drinks easy enough .the place was jumping when the gig got underway, it didn't feel as if air con was was on as it was sweltering in the crowd but what the heck it was all part of a fabulous night .Duran were amazing as always plying favourites and trax from future past album .Only one way out of building which was a bit poor as lighting is poor on th stairs up.A great night out was enjoyed by all
K. C.For atmosphere and acoustics the place is great, it's definitely one of the beat 02s I've been for this. However navigating around especially to the toilets is a but of a hassle, the bar placements don't help this.
Also no cash, that's just rubbish, especially for the prices of the drinks and the dubiously watery taste of everything coming from a pump. They have gone out of their way to make sure people can't budget with physical cash and prey on the fact that more alcohol means less control.
R. S.Went to see Duran Duran, it was rammed, been to many other O2 venues, no air con, I was soaked, on a plus side we got in quick and security was good and searches were fast but thorough, but lack air con, let it down and lost a star
S. W.The staff in general were great. The venue good. However space set out for Access tickets was not enough, and far too close to speakers/ and a poor view of the stage. When guests moved a curtain slightly to obtain a view due to the sheer number of people with access arrangements they were promptly greeted with an unpleasant response from one staff member and asked to move. Not what I would have expected from an O2 venue.
The gig itself however and 99% off the staff were great.
S. A.Good night out, went to see Nirvana UK recently and what a show. Great performance, crowd was lively, there was a mosh pit as expected at this sort of gig. The drinks weren't what I expected though, had a cider which wasn't the best at all, and a double vodka mixer which was 80% vodka, so I would highly recommend getting some drinks before you come here.

A. R.Went to watch Tom Meighan. Was easy and fast to get in. Bars literally everywhere so it was easy to get a drink, and plenty of vantage points above the main floor if you wanted to be out of the hustle and bustle of it all. Great acoustics and great atmosphere! Also has a smoking area once inside so no need to worry about going for hours without one!.
C. v. B.Decent sized venue, drinks not cheap like all O2s. The range of beer is awful. If you like Carling fine. If you like real ale forget it. I've given the venue 4 stars because the drinks range is very limited.

J.The set up was fine and the sound great. The reason for deducting 2 Stars is Lack of viewing for Disabled people not sure if there was any at all. Also lack of choice of food ,one burger van and no other choice.
Otherwise enjoyable.

C. A.Saw Duran Duran here in May. Great venue for getting up close & personal with such a legandary band. Great views from everywhere. However, felt like they'd completely overfilled the place. Trying to get to the toilets and bar was a nightmare. Would dread to think what would happen in an emergency. Luckily there wasn't one and it was a great show.

C. R.Saw Gary Numan here twice. It isn't my favourite venue but it is adequate. It is mainly standing but there are a few seats you can perch yourself on for a decent view. Drinks are expensive. Gary Numan, by the way, was incredible!
S. W.A little bit of a 'spit & sawdust' kind of place, but a really great venue for seeing live music and very good bar and facilities.

C. H.As a punter, I'd imagine it's a great venue. As a photographer, the main stage is a nightmare. I don't know if it's always that way, but at HRH NWOCR on the first day the lighting was appalling and there was constant smoke.
On the other hand, the lighting in stage 2 was excellent.
Another criticism: the lack of ladies loos.
Plus points: friendly staff and on the second day of the festival the lighting was a little better.
However, the minus points outweigh the good: parking is near impossible on the street. Expect to park at Victoria Park, especially on Leicester City match days
M. S.Came here with a friend to see Duran Duran on Saturday evening, bit of a queue outside but got into the venue pretty quickly,sound was great, and the bar staff were really good getting drinks served, all n all a good experience and will return for other events.
c. S.Went there recently to see Tom meighan and what an atmosphere. Small venue but the there the best ones. Close to the stage,acoustics were spot on. Like I said small but awesome. Will defo go again to the O2.
M. C.Great venue, love close up gigs and this certainly gives you that although there could be some investment to the venue as it is looking very tired and shabby. If tou arrive early there is nowhere to go as the university SU is shut.
V.Went for Tom Meighan yesterday. Incredible atmosphere, nice venue.
But very difficult to access the only female toilets if you’re on the other side of the room
D. T.Great venue and easy to find, 15 minute walk from the train station. Friendly staff and the venue is brilliant. Definitely recommend this place.
j. c.Absolutely loved this venue!!! Best academy gig I've been to. The bar service was speedy (which is always a winner), the toilet's stayed clean all night (also a winner) plus I loved the fact you could watch the bands from up top on the balcony so if you didn't fancy being in the thick of it you could chill, drink and still get an awesome view. Even though it's not the closet venue to me, I would definitely look at coming back here over any other venue. It's a 10/10 from me 😃👍

L. H.Brilliant night. Door staff couldn't have been more helpful, my partner walks with a stick and struggles to walk or stand for any length of time. They walked us through the venue asking people to step aside and found my partner a seat near the stage where he wouldn't get knocked by the crowd. Can't thank them enough.

R.Why are the drinks so expensive just wanted to watch sea girls and get drunk but no my bank account had a heart attack when it saw that I spent £15 on TWO drinks, I could go to wetherspoons and get TWO pitchers but had a nice night the toilets were good and the amount of water that was handed to me made up the £15 that I spent 😩

B.Really nice venue for nights out and also for concerts, only issue I had is it's standing only so be prepared to have some sore legs if your seeing a comedian or a music gig where you aren't going to be dancing around and moving a lot. Bar has a good range but is pretty pricey for the context of the venue . It's located close to good bars and restaurants so it's worth trying some out on London road before hand which is the street the train station is on

A. J.Lots of these all over the UK, all very good with security and amenities , and great for seeing your favourite bands! The only issue I could think of is, none of them have enough bar staff to serve quick enough. So prepare to que for a drink even if you only want a water!
J. B.Militant security staff are a bit over the top and intrusive. No issue with security generally, but they were really OTT.

N. G.Good for bands - nice acoustics & great lights. Only problem for the audience is the double doors in the middle of the stage. Every time a musician comes on or off they open the door and a burst of bright artifical light hits your eyes. Probably stems from some fire regulation but could be easily improved with a bit of thought.

M. S.Used to be known as the Percy Gee building, home of Leicester Students Union. Now comes under the O2 umbrella and attract some decent sized bands in a great sweaty club style atmosphere. Drinks are reasonably priced and the only downside is the disabled access which is not great.
D. H.The Venue is great, but there is no parking, had to park in a side street half a mile away.
D. C.Bit of a strange set-up having an O2 Academy on Leicester University grounds and its small capacity doesn't bring the biggest acts in the world. That said, the venue succeeds in pretty much every other area - good acoustics, plenty of bar space, attentive staff for the most part, 10min walk from the City. Cash machine just around the corner, card accepted at the bars and box office.
P. W.We were in the scholar bar for a gig decent room, good stage height, small bar at the rear but no real ale on tap. Just cider and larger. Decent loos downstairs.
D. M.Great venue to watch live music. Can get quiet cramped as no seating area, standing only. If your an o2 customer you get to jump to the front of the que just by showing your phones with o2, so don't que up in the long que.
P. B.A fairly basic gig venue but it is quite adequate and, unlike others who have commented, I found all the staff to be pleasant and very helpful. I won't hesitate to visit again if there is a band/solo artist who I wish to see.
D. M.Mostly it was a great place with very helpful staff, but we were sent to the wrong venue - the Academy instead of the Scholar - and could have missed the entire performance we paid for. Ticket staff need to be more careful.
J. B.Pretty okay, door staff can sometimes be a bit off, have the feeling that most just despise students, I understand why but don't tar us all with the same brush. Too many times I've seen staff act the big man and putting on a show to Freshers, not the uni experience they want or the one that the uni is trying to sell to them. Asides from that, drinks prices are verging on the 'bit steep better off to pre' side, some good headline acts but most of the time it's all just a mash up so you're sure you'll at least hear one song that vaguely makes you wanna move side to side before you realise that you're just an absolute embarrassment to your family and that it's time to head to AJs for some dirty greasy mediocre-ness and fall asleep to the beautiful sound of your ears ringing.
C. H.Good Venue decent size. Sound system is banging when turned up. Drinks are expensive and O2 priority discounts don't apply on club nites or Hard Dance events which is a disappointment.
K.Nice small venue. Gig was awesome,shame it was spoilt by "students" who thought taking over the floor was ok. I've been to tons of gigs,never experienced this. Not a security member in sight
