Quirky venue but chairs very closely packed together making it feel very hot and theres not much leg room. The girl in front of me kept flicking her hair behind her and it ended up going in my drink a few times. They have an app so you can order drinks and snacks during the interval which get delivered to your seat and really fast service, all staff we encountered were cheerful and friendly. The 4 comedians on were brilliant, each one very funny in their own style, following them all on social media now and booked tickets to see Paul Smith on his new UK tour.

Absolutely loved it. Great comedians and felt like a very personal show as I was practically on the stage. The staff were nice too as we didn't have a clue what we were doing and they explained the whole thing to us and what to do.

A must visit for any comedy fans! The quaint basement setting makes the experience even better, and more engaging, especially when seeing resident comedian Paul Smith! Ticket prices are reasonable, and will definitely be worth the money.

Venue is set up to make your comedy experience feel that bit more personal, very tightly packed which can make heat a problem, service is second to none with Drinks served to your seat. Comedians are very funny, you'll laugh fron beginning to end and they interact with the Audience to make your visit that bit more memorable. Excellent comedy night. Paul Smith is brilliant. The side bar entrance to the venue was chilly so the welcome heat of the basement was good. Bear reasonable and service to the table was easy and straight forward. Definitely a great night out!

Great night out at the Hot Water Comedy Club. The staff here are great, they sign post stuff, explain things really well. Drinks to your seat. The venue itself is small but organised really well by staff. The comedians on the Wednesday we went were great. It was a "try new material" night which was good! Giving them the chance to try material in a nice environment.

Went here on a Wednesday with a few mates and to see some brilliant live comedy was fantastic, we all enjoyed although be warned its kinda like sardines getting down and using the facilities in that basement so if your covid concerned give it a miss for a while. Otherwise if your happy to be out and social it is a great night out & certainly a hidden gem in Liverpool's attractions.

Brilliant night at hot water comedy. We saw Danny McLoughin, Phil Chapman and Alun Cochrane. The bar was set high from the start and stuck at that level throughout. Tricky customers were handled expertly by Danny, who kept the vibes good despite a couple of testy moments. The bar was efficient and well priced. Highly, highly recommend!!

First time I'd seen live comedy and it was actually brilliant. I went to see Paul Smith since I'd seen him online and thought he'd be a safe bet but he wasn't actually on that night however the others really surprised me and were all really good!!

Good seating arrangement felt like a good atmosphere,obviously depending on the acts and the crowd of the night, 🍸 is a little pricy but for a fiver to see the acts I think this is a good choice for an evening out. 👍

Had a great night at the comedy club, the MC was really funny and great at warming up the crowd. The three acts were each hilarious, favourite being Andy Askin who was just brilliant. The only downsides to the place is the size of the seats, if you are large and so are the two people sat either side of you, I hope you know them very well...cos you'll be unintentionally intimate by the end of the night. The coke I got at first was normal coke, all good. The second tasted of chemicals, so I left it cos I just couldn't drink it and didn't bother taking it back cos it was busy and I didn't want to miss anything, although there were two 15 minute breaks, so I had the opportunities to swap it, but my desire to pee and smoke were more important! There were a few people talking full volume several times, but the way the doormen dealt with it was brilliant, they weren't rude or hostile, just politely asked them to keep the noise down so it wasn't distracting and didn't ruin anyone's enjoyment. Would highly recommend this as a pre night out event, or if you want an early one, definitely a meal and then end the night here!

Last minute decision to pop in! What a great night! Full of laughs and friendly faces! Small room so you dont feel a million miles away in an audience. Around 50 maybe 60 were seated and the host involved alot of us! Wifi password made me laugh. Acts were new to the game but good nonetheless and humble! Free entry too! And seated service when you order your drinks on yiur phone! Only thing id say is the seats have very little leg room and are very close together. Trying to get in and out on the intervals was difficult and awkward and when sat i had to sit with my legs diagonal into the neighbouring person. Couldn't say anything else but if i went back again id tell them id like to be sat at the back out the way (they wouldn't allow us when we asked this time fir some reason ) so that im more comfortable for the show.

Excellent night of free comedy, the place was 3/4 full on a cold, drizzley night between 9 and 2345. The club is located inside a bar, door men outside will guide you in. The first bar is cash only, then as the place fills they let you down stairs and seat you around the stage, you can then order via the app and pay from your phone, and they bring your drinks to your chair number. It's a very fast service. We saw 4 commedians plus the host. Such a great night, all funny. We laughed for a couple of hours. If your around Liverpool, this is a must. If your not in Liverpool, then they live stream via YouTube. Win, win.

Top, top comedy night. Paul Smith did a set that you just won't see broadcast anywhere ever unless you become a member. Live comedy here goes places you can't go elsewhere. Adam Roe kicked off with a joke that made me say "oh no" out loud before he'd even finished it. Its exactly how you should see comedy. Friendliest crowd around and absolutely devastating comedians. Hilarious!! We had a hike to get there due to stupid Google maps but it was worth it! Very well run and the comedians were brilliant! The story of the turkey teef nearly had me choke on my coronas! Lol bucket of beers was only £20 odd and it meant we could sit and enjoy rather than have to phone order drinks (which was a very efficient service) and the show was fab. Definately recommend if you visit Liverpool or are a local who hasn't been!

Got free seats for me and the Mrs near the front row on Wednesday 26/01/22, bought a few rounds, and had an absolute blast. I can't remember the names of the acts as we were both pretty drunk at the time, but all the acts, especially the American guy from California and the tall Irish sounding dude with the ukulele (very James Acastery type vibe) were ruthlessly hilarious. Best 3 hours of our night. Chests ached so much the next day we thought we had covid, but an LFT confirmed we had just been belly laughing like hyenas with COPD for over two hours the night before. Will definitely be going again and would highly recommend even if you're just passing through the city.

First time there. You get seated where they tell you. Really enjoyed watching Troy Hawke. Only observation is that we were right on the right hand side so when as part of the gig, Troy used the projector, we couldn't see anything. There was a monitor but on the other side of the room. So people at the same location but to the left of the stage could see what was going on but we were left in the dark. Strange the Hot Water didn't think of that. Lucky I'd seen all of Troy Hawke's YouTube videos so I knew what was being said but my mates didn't have a clue.

Great night went after recommendations on "Have a word podcast" and wasn't disappointed. The variety of comedy is brilliant, and interaction with the crowd. The ordering of drinks on app and being served in your seats work really well. There is a few things that let it down a little but doesn't ruin an evening. It isn't clear that there is an entrance and exit to the venue. So when you arrive at the venue, what you think is the entrance actually turns out to be the exit. The entrance is 2 doors down, through a bar, that only accepts cash. So whilst waiting you will need cash to purchase a drink. It is very cramped down in the theatre side of things and can become a bit uncomfortable, but you do soon forget it once the acts come on.

The staff were sound! Really welcoming. I got in for free because it was my birthday. The acts the hilarious. Really good atmosphere. The drinks selection is spot on 👌 the acoustics are spot on to, wasn't too loud and able to hear the acts over everyone laughing which can be an issue at other venues. My only issue would be the seating as I am 6ft 6 and it was a little tight. But it's not the worst seating and the staff sent me to the back where I could stretch my legs out 😂 Cant wait to go again!!

Been 4 times now. First 3 times were at the ropeworks venue, they were all excellent nights entertainment. Last time was at the other venue near Rodney Street, again the entertainment was great. But this time we felt people talking etc were allowed to get away with it, so we missed a few good punchlines. Not happy with that, bouncers do your job a bit better please watch the crowd not the act... But we'll go again and still 5 stars overall. Love to support comedy, always good value. Drinks are plenty to choose from & not to expensive, then take your seats in a small cinema style stage setting to watch some of the nation's up & coming rising stars in the comedy world with some even selling out stadium venues due to there amazing quick thinking talents. Made very welcome & an amazing night to make me return again soon, especially with the house resident Paul Smith That Had us in stitches with his real Scouse sense of humour. On a recent visit to this venue I was somewhat concerned to find that not only was there no soap in the toilets, but there was no means to dry my hands either. As per current public health advice I am washing my hands frequently so was pleased to see that there were two breaks programmed into the night (obviously to facilitate hand hygiene and not bar sales!). A lack of facilities makes this difficult (washing facilities not bar facilities). This needs to be rectified quickly as hand hygiene is no laughing matter. George Grace

I've been to a couple of the free nights as well and they are of just a high quality as the paid nights! The only downside is the bar service is so slow. I understand everyone floods the bar at the intervals but perhaps hiring more bar staff would be a good idea! The upstairs bar in Hardman Street is smaller than my bathroom with only one barstaff...I could serve people quicker in my own gaff!

I'd have given four stars but there's no decent beer or cider (comedy fans are often real ale fans) and the cinema style seats are a bit cramped. I'm just over 6' and my knees were constantly knocking against the seat in front. We'll definitely consider going back the next time that we have a night in Liverpool.

Cool venue, glad The Magnet is being used. The acts we saw were good and I appreciate the attitude to 'hecklers' generally. However, on the night we went, the compere seemed to deliberately wind up a very drunk woman (that she was very drunk is in no question) and she was subsequently ejected as she posed a potential problem. It seemed a bit unfair that she was baited and suffered for it when there was a group of lads who also 'broke the rules' by talking throughout and smashing several glasses, yet they were allowed to remain.

This place hosts incredible comedians, namely being the likes of Paul Smith who is amazing and leaves you howling with laughter! But... This can get extremely busy, and you are left outside queuing with little information if your are going to get in or not... Been turned away a few times now. So I guess expectations could be set better on their website and / or advised better when queuing. Don't let this put you off though.. pay the £5 for a garunteed ticket and you will have the best time.
