I visited this wonderful little place on Thursday evening with a small party and we were all very impressed. It's nice to see a proper pub still standing strong. Beautiful homely and rustic décor with a great selection of drinks and a large downstairs bar. The upstairs "lounge" is like stepping into the Ritz with its plush seating and beautiful views out onto Soho. Service was quick, efficient, and friendly from the young barman despite it being very busy. All the staff were amazing, and we will most likely visit again when we are next back in London. Just wish it was open till later.

Had a cracker of a time here! I'd arranged to meet a tinder date here but he bailed so I was feeling pretty miffed as I'd already bought a drink. The barman, Reece, was very sympathetic and engaged me in conversation, and before too long I'd forgotten all about it! He was a total charmer (sadly already taken) and basically rescued my night. The bar seems to attract a friendly clientele, and one group took me under their wing and showed me a fantastic time. I ended up pulling one of them and patching work the next day! Topper! Thanks Reece (and another of the staff whose name I've sadly forgotten)

I visited this pub this evening. Wed 1st December. I'm shy as they come and a little scared of the scene But as i live in London now and covid is relaxed. I thought i would pay this place a visit. It was a Tuesday and i have to be honest for a place so busy. The staff really make a connection with there guests. I was pretty amazed how welcoming it was. knowing absolutely nobody. We didnt get to name terms. But there was a presence that the staff carried that you felt welcome and you're custome was valued. It was really pleasant and i will return. Thank you to the irish barmaid and her crew for making me feel welcome. It was a very relaxing atmosphere. Good ale too.. was a really good mid week outing alone. Thank you

They let people skip the queue (during Covid measures) while I was waiting. I think it a lack of respect Edited 1: I was in Comptons again. Very nice guy attended me and I had a nice time. Then I got a waiter (blond wearing glasses) he was very but very rude to me. I will go back, since I want to change the review but I really hope I am lucky to do not have him as my waiter again. Edited 2: I have been there again and in other places to compare. I must tell it all depends the waiter you get.

Apologies this review has been a long time coming. A big shout out to the barman William (with the blue cardigan) who looked after our birthday group. Impressed with the service provided and his knowledge of wines and going to the trouble to bring out several bottles as we were all undecided and rather demanding. Despite booking a table in advance we had to wait for the previous occupants to clear off. the staff handled it well and we were well looked after so thank you Compton's!

I visited Compton's in late May with a friend and was overjoyed with the experience I had. It was our first time our post-lockdown and we were naturally apprehensive about how things would be operating. The bar was clean and lively with clear protective measures in place for the safety of both staff and customers. The service was quick and polite. A great bar to check out if you're in Soho

Been there few times. The whole team is lovely! Service is quick - as soon as you sit down they take your order and the delivery of drinks follows soon. Also, the pub is covid secure, I've seen tables sanitised as soon as customers leave and staff keeps their masks on and hands clean. Aaand the interior upstairs is so beautiful!

I take my hat off to Compton's who seem to be juggling the covid-19 restrictions with such aplomb and accommodating my booking with a preference to venture upstairs. The grand piano has long since gone but it was a thrill to be back at the Grand Old Dame of Soho. Fellow patrons were also respectful of the covid-19 restrictions which created a safe, convivial and pleasant atmosphere, so much so, that when I mentioned me and my friends would like to stay longer than our allotted slot they juggled their bookings to accommodate us.

We stopped in here after midnight on NYE to finish off our night and it was packed, with a good buzz and atmosphere. Bar staff were friendly and fun and the music was good but not too loud so as you couldn't talk to friends, which is great as I despise venues that deafen you. Would definitely come back for a drink the next time I'm in London. Oh and the pride flags outside looked so cool, super clean and huge!

It's like Cheers but as it's London hardly anyone knows your name. A good mix of regular locals and a hefty throughput of tourists and visitors. An ideal place for a night out on your own. There's always someone to chat too. They have a smoking area out front - this is where all the interesting and bonkers people congregate and where all the best gossip and conversation can be found. Inside a good selection of beers and liquor, however only a couple of real ales on at any time. There is a tipping culture. Top-tip. Don't leave your drink lying about, their glass collectors are merciless!

A traditional tavern and drinking pool, a good place to start a round with friends and angels who all love a beer, staff are user friendly actually so are the punters, standing downstairs, aerial views and seating with tables uptop all in all its a great and popular inner city bar.

It's like a little splash of Vauxhall in the centre of Soho. Friendly attitude free bar (well I say that, there's been plenty of attitude from the staff when I've been there but I like to think that's on purpose so you know you're still in Soho and don't get confused). There is the occasional fight outside but the door staff are pretty tasty and get stuck in sharpish. All adds to the fun.

It can get pretty busy here especially on a Friday or Saturday night. I found that it's not really for the 'young crowd' and is generally more chilled out. I usually prefer to hang out upstairs with my friends if I come here. The staff are friendly here and if it's not too busy will have a chat with you too :) I don't really like super loud places that blast music so I can't have a conversation with someone standing next to me, this isn't one of those places, so 5 points to Gryffindor! I mean, Comptons.

Hmmm. I'm really in two minds about this place. The doormen and the music are great draws and generally the clientele are friendly and fun. However... F me, some of the bar men are loaded with baggage. Miserable faces, serve their favourites first, ignore those waiting ages and shove the customers out of the way when they mince around collecting glasses. It's just a pub not a catwalk and you're just pint pullers not sommeliers. Relax please and be nice to the folk that pay your wages. I hate the tacky tip tray thing too.

Comptons has been around a long time. Whilst other gay bars come and go, Comptons has stood like a castle and symbol to the predominance of the gay scene in Soho. It is an adults bar and the age of the clientele tends to be older than places like g.a.y. It's a great place to meet other men, most of whom pride themselves on their masculinity. You get your mix of bears, some leather men, smartly dressed, older guys and young twinks. Inside, it's a great mix of traditional decor, calm ambience and pre-party atmosphere with DJ's on the weekend. You can sit in comfort up in the lounge and chat, or cruise and mingle with freedom downstairs with decent house music playing in a darker, cruiser atmosphere with disco lights. Whilst some people have moaned about the service, the guys in bar are good looking, genuine nice people. They're a mix of English and other nationalities. Once they've seen your face a few times, their honest friendliness shows through, unlike a fake smiling trolly-dolly! So, I don't accept the poor service comments. If you compare it to other places which can be much slower during busier times, they are not bad at all! It's a great meeting place and its always busy. It's an institution, it's friendly, honest, friendly regulars and most gay visitors first port of call in Soho.
