Discovered this place by accident, and very pleased that I did!
Attractive exterior and one room bar, with live music venue at the back. This place has a lot of music history and the atmosphere was really building early evening on a Saturday as musicians were arriving and setting up.
The kitchen is open all day, with the menu including a full English breakfast and other traditional pub food. All staff were really friendly and welcoming. Will definitely return.
D. T.
A compact offering close to Kings Cross. Fine beer and convivial company. Taking it's name from the ShowBiz charity and a venue hosting regular music events. A fine place for a beer or two.
M. B.
Great pub. Popped in on a Saturday night, really great bar staff, happy to chat if you wanted too. This is a music venue and not sure what was at the back but I know they have live bands, music. Easy walking distance to King's Cross Station and near to Central London venues. Good selection of drinks and realistic prices too.
D. D. P.
Great venue in the heart of London with plenty of history.
Small but well worth a visit if you are a music fan.
Good attentive staff and atmosphere.
Transport links close by too.
Thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
s.
Brilliant. Great bar and venue. Posher than we thought it was going to be. Travelled from Devon to see Two Year Break here and was not disappointed. The staff were lovely. The venue is quite spacious for the moshers. Would definitely go back. Oh,and the beer was a good price too!
J. B.
A pub with an extra room for entertainment. I have seen songwriter rounds, rock & pop bands performing to capacity audience. A range of beers, other alcoholic & soft drinks are served from the bar in the pub. Toilets are downstairs.
C. S.
First time here. Had the Eggs Benedict which were SUPERB. Our whole experience for breakfast was amazing. Great music wait staff could not be better and the atmosphere was Perfect. Cannot wait to return.
Thank you for Everything
L. S.
We booked the music venue at the back of the pub for our birthday party, the landlady Sally was really helpfull and the serving staff were excellent. Great venue for a party, good value, we had a live band playing, the venue is well set up for live music with a great sound system. Thoroughly recommend
J. P.
Superb venue for live music. Great atmosphere. Easy to get drinks. Good sound.
S. M.
Great pub, good selection of drinks, good food and I loved the room with a stage for performances, they had a really fun comedy night! My friend lost his laptop and thankfully they found it and kept it safe until we ran back after closing time. Really kind staff, will come back again.

I visited this place, just by chance, a few weekends ago. I had an hour or 2 to wait in the morning and I was walking past and saw this bar and that it was open.
The signs outside were good, with details of food and drink available. The welcome from the staff was good. The service was also good. I ordered a breakfast and drink and the drink followed by food was delivered very promptly!
The atmosphere in the bar seemed nice. Tables were spaced a nice distance apart.
This was exactly what I was after. I planned on meeting family somewhere else in the area a few hours later, but I rang them and advised them to come and eat here too, that's how good I thought it was!

Had breakfast here twice, also vegan option. Wonderful atmosphere steeped in music history - but aside from the lovely food and all, the people working here are awesome. So refreshing to see that there are still people in the industry who love what they're doing. We will be back on our next London trip soon, maybe see a band here, too.

Very convenient place as it is just located next to my hotel. The best full English breakfast with lovely atmosphere and friendly staff are things I have enjoyed most in the morning of London. The steaks and fish and chips were very nice as well for dinner. Though I had only stayed in London for 5 days, I enjoyed 5 meals in Water Rats. Thanks for giving me such a good memory there. Really miss this restaurant so much! and definitely will return if I visit London again.
M. R.
A wonderful musically historic pub, acts as diverse as Bob Dylan and Katy Perry have graced its tiny stage. Don't be fooled by its nondescript façade, its a great place to meet for breakfast and at night morphs into a lively cocktail bar. Enjoy. M
S. W.
Great venue, good service and you can get a pint of Ashahi, I mean London Pride and enjoy a decent band like The Utopiates.
s. o.
Great music venue with mix of upcoming and established acts and variety of different alternative music styles. Front bar nice for a drink too, drinks fairly priced for central London pub.
R. C. S.
Lovely friendly landlord
Great homemade food will definitely be popping back when in London
They had 5 bands on too
B. R.
Good food good choice of drinks and lovely atmosphere full of lovely people can't wats to go again deserve s more then 5 stars
B. K.
Didn’t have a drink but went in with an odd request for ice - someone twisted their ankle. The generosity and warmth that met my request was overwhelming - a truly neighbourhood pub responsive and kind. I would recommend them for any of your pub-like needs.
T. M.
Really like this place, the breakfast was lovely and we had a great night in there too,
The owner sally was lovely, staff were fun and everyone was friendly, great atmosphere 👌😁
J. Q. C.
This place outright cured me of my jet lag! Superb English breakfast ft some of the best baked beans and sausage I've ever had. Bright and welcoming atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff. Good music, relaxed ambiance. Can't recommend highly enough for a solid breakfast that bring you right out of an overcast mood
N. V.
Very nice and quite cozy venue. It’s both a nice bar as well as a (small) live music venue. And what kind of venue. The history is amazing and the atmosphere is really good.
Great breakfast and bar food too!
M. D.
Very friendly helpful service & good beer, entertainment/live music as advertised
G. W.
Love this place, the food is traditional and the drinks reasonable! Homely feel to the venue.
A. S.
Lovely place. Enjoyed few pre birthday drinks here. Warm and welcoming staff and the music was spot on for the Sunday night. It wasn’t busy and that what I was looking for. Cheers.
P. O.
Lovely staff and very attentive. Chose the steak special at 12.50 but steak while cooked nicely was very gristly and i dont see 9 chips as a reasonable amount for the price
S. E.
Good small venue. Limited menu but food excellent and affordable
B. M.
Great music venue, and ideal for a late pint of Pride before the last train back from King's Cross
F.
The pub has a good range of drinks. There is a pleasant friendly vibe from the staff. We ordered some food and it was very good ... the chips are quite possibly the best in London ....
We were here to see a band and the venue was perfect. The stage area is just the right size and the sound was amazing.
Would definitely reccomend and we will be back.
S. J.
We chose The Water Rats on a Friday evening. It was packed with people because they had a show that night. But our meal was very good, and after some of the guests left, the noise level became lower 😉
F. M.
Small intimate. The band members do talk to you though The Jam tribute act. A band called Malice? Cute drummer
L. S.
A bit slow, but staff are friendly. Fish n chips were good. Beef roast was a bit tough but veggies, gravy and Yorkshire pudding were good.
J. K.
This is a great little venue and I remember being here years ago to see a band. I'm currently doing a course in their foyer area and the staff are really helpful and friendly! Lovely food too! Highly recommended for drinks, food, gigs or hiring for meetings etc. Open early for delicious fresh coffee and breakfast. Cheers Water Rats!
M. G.
Quality night out in a great venue, was here 20 years ago and still has a great atmosphere 👌🏼
e. s.
Amazing breakfast in a fascinating place more famous than I realised.
J. A. M.
What a lovely place to go to!
The drinks were great and loved having the long island ice tea, prices were a bit on the steep end but the buy two for the price of one meant I could buy a cocktail for a reasonable £6 instead of £12! Food was good as per and would come back again.
I. P.
Great little venue. The bar is nice and airy with a good selection of beers. The venue is small but not cramped and the view is good all around. The sound is good too.
J. A.
Awesome venue. So much history. Live music, beer and food... What more could you want?!
T. P.
Lovely beers, lovely fish n chips!🤩
T. S. S.
One of the traditional old music venues in London, with a rich history. A perfect place for enjoying a show, or just for having a bit to eat and some drinks. Well worth a visit.
S. D.
Great grub, friendly vibe , fine staff
C. B.
A lovely small venue with restaurant. Definitely recommended
N. B.
Excellent venue, really cool vibe, kind and helpful staff - and reasonable prices for the area.
T. H.
Went to see something. Smaller than I expected and very hot. I'm way too old for that!
Decent service and selection of beer. Smoking area not well protected against rain.
Intimate gigs it is made for.
If you go for a gig, dress light.
M. S.
Great music venue, nice pub. Would have liked a larger range of beers but really nice ambience and not too noisy. London Pride and London Fields Hopster on tap. Stones throw from Kings Cross.
B. W.
Amazing venue, so many great bands have played there, sound was fab
S. A.
Love this venue.... beware though live music venue is very very loud. Take ear plugs just in case.
J.
Support this beautiful pub...live gigs...Great ambiance...brilliant staff...Support your local
J. A.
Awesome pub/bar and an awesome venue for the arts, really nice vibe that suits the performances they put on and a great team behind the bar
K. B.
Currently sat eating a lovely full english with pot of tea included. Lovely warm welcome from the staff and just a generally chilled and happy atmosphere. love it.
W. H.
Great venue with a historic past.
Service great..and a warm welcome 👍
K. T.
Live music in back and good bar staff. Great night.
R. W.
Super friendly staff and good food, I only had breakfast here but it was tasty, a great start to the day. The venue has live music at night and functions as a restaurant as well.
O. W.
Great Venue, more seat would have been nice, chairs were available but no seats.
A. D.
Nice pub, great music venue
J. J.
Lovely pub that serves everything from breakfast to dinner and has a great little music venue at the back. Great staff too.
A. S.
This pub is fab, great 2for1 offer every day and the staff are so lovely too!! Really recommend the mojitos!! 😍🤤
J. K.
Great venue. Small but exciting and fun. Saw a great band there - Bedlam. Good evening.
S. F.
Great pub close to Kings Cross Station with friendly staff, only sorry i was too late to see the live music.
K. P.
Fantastic Pub! First Class service, food and environment! Always a pleasure to be back here!
R.
nice pub with small concert space.
H. S.
Great sound, good vibes, friendly bartenders and tasty snacks. If you can catch a show here, do it. It's iconic.
D. C.
Super little London music venue near Kings Cross - great sound with an intimate atmosphere, good choice of drinks and outside seating for those who don't like the music! 😏
D. C.
What a place! Friendly staff and the burger is the best I have had in a long time. The Chef stopped to ask if we were happy with the food and explained it's the cuts of meats that are chosen by him and minced on the premises. Amazing!
C. H.
Friendly staff and great venue: sound was amazing. The food looked good, but didn't get a chance to try it.
As a photographer, some light occasionally on the side of the stage would have been appreciated: the singer in the middle was beautifully lit.
M. O.
Great pub for live music. I was really impressed by the amazing "Fox Logic" performance. Incredible band & magical moment. Thank you Water Rats!
B. W.
Was no live music on at the time but friendly bar staff a good pint.
S. H.
My family had breakfast at this wonderful bar. The owner, bartender and waiter were all extremely friendly. Prices were reasonable and food was excellent. Coffee was not the best, but all part of a very nice experience and included in the rate. On a side note, the toilets/water closets were clean, modern and well maintained.
J. B. W.
Lovely place to grab a few drinks. The food was really nice. Had all three sharing platters amongst a small group and it went down very well. Would definitely recommend, staff where friendly and very pleasant. Well worth the visit.
S. M.
Nice beer, good location, friendly staff
D. O.
Great music venue. Excellent staff.
R. L.
We just had a pint. I liked the fact that they charged the round, rather than wait until the end. Nice environs.
B. S.
Fresh prepared food, super friendly !
T. H.
Wonderful English breakfast at a great price and lovey service.
A. R.
Friendly staff, great beer selection and good tasty food!
G.
It was very comfortable place and service was great. We ordered cheese and tomato sandwitch and brie bacon cranberry sandwiche plus coffee. Both of it were delicious and reasonable price.
N. P.
Reasonably priced music venue and small bar. The bar is geared towards diners rather than beer buffs as the choice of craft beers and ales is rather limited. However, the venue, which occupies the rear half of the premises is a good size with space for 150-200 people, at a squeeze. I wasn't very impressed by the sound quality, although the PA seems decent.
P. R.
Only called un for a breakfast, but it was a good one.
S. M.
A total revamp, the place is lovely. Friendly service, good choice of draught, nice atmosphere. One downside was that we went at 6.30pm on a thursday (two people) and were told the tables had been reserved by the pub as they expected it to get busy with people eating therefore as we were only there for a drink we'd have to move if diners came. We were offered to sit at the bar though there was no space! We were fine as only stayed 45 mins but had diners arrived I'm not sure what they would have done with us. Would definitely go back for dinner though.
D. Y.
The let watch the Rugby union 6 nations opening match, and put the sound up for me. My pint was pored well ( I like the dark and lovely) and it was a very nice place to be. I know the place from before as I've done lampee work there before. It a very good live music site too.
D. G.
Nice local pub with great atmosphere friendly staff would recommend it to anybody
L. T.
Great bar for music, excellent gig area, multiple bars so if one is crowded you can get a drink from the other! Also the gig area is enclosed. So if you just want to meet with mates, you don’t have to listen to the band.
J. R.
Excellent place. I went there twice for breakfast and the food was excellent. Having the possibility to order a vegetarian full English was pleasant.
The service was delightful and one of the waiters, who recognized us the second time, even offered a discount. Very nice and business-minded move.
D. H.
Great pub! Excellent polite service nothing too much trouble. Would deffo recommend
R. S.
Love this place and have some great memories over the years of up and coming bands on their route to breaking into the next level. For this type of venue, which really is a live music pub, it has a surprising range of decent beers and the staff are great. It's also opposite the big mangal which is one of the best Turkish restaurants in London.
J. G.
Good bar selection (they have Whitstable Pale Ale on tap). Bar seating area is a bit bland but ok. Does have a 2nd room for live performances, apparently there's been some famous performers which would be great as an intimate setting but the band that started were awful. We quickly moved to another pub
R. J.
In love with this place. Nice sunday roast (the gravy is amazing) with lovely ambiance and soul music. Waiters were kind and helpful. I will definitely go back there if I go to London again.
p.
Pub with a gig venue at the back, revamped recently, the sound was great. Intimate venue gets you up close and personal. Bar staff polite. Apparently Dylan's first UK gig, can only imagine what it looked like back then...
S. A.
Top quality music venue. Great sound. The actual music venue part is separate from the pub so you don't get disturbed by those enjoying the pub section. A good range of beers on sale.
D. “. V.
Great venue, nice tasty food although some staff are silent and a bit quick off the mark in collecting up when a simple "Have you finished?" wouldn't go amiss! Saying that I will definitely return and I do recommend it
E. S.
I went for a trip in London and stayed in the Point A hotel next to this pub.
This pub is so amazing! The crew is quite polite and the food is incredibly good!!!
Had some beer there too!
Sadly I couldn't see a gig there tho...
H. H.
Fab venue eith lovely staff who go the extra mile. It's always lively at the weekends with the bands playing and space can be limited in the bar area. There is a good choice of food across the whole day (visited in the evening and then again for breakfast the next morning).
J.
Such a lovely little pub with really friendly staff. We stumbled across this place accidentally and ended up staying all evening. Food was good and generous portions! Would definitely recommend :)
A. S.
Great pub and music venue, service slow in venue side so easier to pop into bar to buy drinks, also real ale available usually london pride and whitstable ale, food looks and smells delicious (not tried yet)
J. H.
Fun pub, was here for a private event. Staff were great and the facilities are excellent. Well laid out and spacious venue with a stage and dance floor in the back room which also has a bar in it. Toilets are clean and well maintained and the food was really nice.
C. E.
What a great meal! Tomato soup was delicious with hot, crusty French bread a real treat. I had bbq chicken burger which was cooked very well, moist and the perfect thickness. Chilli coleslaw and home cooked chips rounded off a great plate that was well worth the price... Attentive, polite table service in a mellow ambience. As I look around lots of empty plates confirm this review... Well done.
S. R.
Really cool place for an artist to have a gig. The venue is good for a personal crowd or event. Especially as I am a professional photographer it's excellent for taking pictures. I would definitely recommend going there to see a gig or to just have a drink.
A. N.
Christmas lunch with a group of friends. The staff are lovely and so friendly. They have a good selection of food but its only ok. I would recommend they reduce the options and improve on the quality. We would definitely go back! Thanks for starting off our festivities.
K. L.
Went for food at around 14
Got a chilli beef, that was a little bit Borring. Didn't taste of much. Could have been more spicy.
Fine service and good choise of drinks of every kind.
Choise of music was horrible tho. Only go if you like pop :D
D. D.
Great live music venue, not as much of a spit and sawdust pub as the good old days but I guess everything changes. Still get to see lots of up and coming bands and usually cheap entry of £5. Friendly staff, very clean and presentable now.
A. P.
Great job with the refurb (2015). The bar offers a good selection of drinks and food where you can sit and chat. Then just a few feet away is a really quality music venue with a great sounding pa system and an eclectic choice of music. What more can you want!
K. R.
Cute little theatre at the back, popular pub at the front. Friendly staff.
D. S.
This place may not be for everyone but it’s a nice bar in a convenient spot a short stroll down Grays Inn Rd. Good range of drinks not too overpriced (by London standards). They do Ardbeg 10 and Uigeadail, which alone makes it a destination for me. The best bit is the music venue at the back though. If you’re not into bands you may think that it’s a small noisy pub without enough seating but types like me it’s a nice change to be able to get a decent drink at a gig. Those horrible O2 venues? The sound in the room is brilliant and every time I’ve been there’s been an understated but clearly very competent guy on the desk, which also makes a nice change in small venues. Give it a go!
I. H.
Shed loads of history,Ace food, good atmosphere and the friendliest of staff .
E. B.
Nice atmosphere, popular among the elderly generation as well as the young. Live concerts in the evenings
R. O.
Nice breakfast atmosphere, I had the granola which is lovely! My friend had pancakes which looked great. The full English also looked amazing and according to the table next to us was “delish”. It’s near Kings Cross so good location. Only downside is that they only do dairy and soya milk, no nut milks, so I got a green tea instead! Reasonably priced too. Every breakfast meal comes with a tea or coffee included!
K. S.
Excellent venue very friendly staff and great selection of drinks serving excellent food
A. C.
Bit of an odd place, couldn't tell if the barman had a very dry witted and had a sarcastic humour or just was a bit off with me and everyone else who wanted a drink from the bar. Either way I took it in good faith, had a beer and enjoyed the music. Wouldn't say that this place was anything particularly special.
G. P.
The venue was good, good sound for the bands. The staff at the bar seemed uninterested in serving and were quite lethargic when doing so. Overall didn't feel particularly welcome but good spot for local bands.
C. L.
Food was delicious and cozy place to hang out with friends.
L. M.
Great venue, cocktails took a while to arrive but was worth it, food was brought to the table piping hot and chicken bbq burger was sooooo good- i would come back even though I live nowhere near it!
Also saw a theatre performance there called Left Behind which was fantastic, two very talented actresses.
W. T.
It was average, glad it included free tea or coffee. It's a pity the cafe we used to go opposite the building works and near Eddie's has closed down. You got a really good breakfast with a mug of tea for£5.00. The staff at the water rat pub were friendly and a very clean establishment. Still like Lucus arms, on Grays Inn Rd, the Wellington, the Coal Hole and the George. On the strand. The water rat does have good entertainment they do get good bands there and a good pint.
B. B.
Great sounding system for gigs and great place to play as a band as the backline is top quality gear. The decoration in the pub is fairly standard, it's basically a gig venue first and foremost which is cool and it keeps its focus.
K. A.
Enjoyed my breakfast here this morning. Lovely pleasant staff and great food. Loved the freshly squeezed orange juice too.
S.
Really friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, definitely going to go again
H. L.
Wow, what a transformation. Loving the newly refurbished/reopened Water Rats even more. Great intimate live music venue with excellent sound and lights. Wonderfully clean and with exceptionally good food served all day too! Recommended.
T. R.
Cheerfully staff and food was amazing and the place looked clean. That's added bouns
J. P.
Great gig by Peter Bruntnell in the back room! Beware of the sloping table from where my last drink slid and hit the floor. Thought the barman might sympathise but to no avail. Hence only three stars.
D. P.
A gig venue, not really a place you can go after work we found out, as it was £4 entry to have a drink and carry our laptop bags, maybe we went on a particular busy day. There didn't seem to be many workers in suits in there.
If you are in the area and want to see a band, I'm sure this place would be great, if you are wanting a quiet drink, probably best to go to The Queens Head.
S.
The google description is wrong.
Built 1894. This 200 capacity independent venue is very well equipped and sells quality food and hot drinks from 8am till 10pm. They have had some amazing acts play in the last three years since the new owners took over. Inc. Katy Perry. Marc Almond. The Blockheads. The Zombies. Theatre of Hate. Toyah.
The new bands sell out most weekends and there is occasionally some comedy and even theatre shows.
See you at the bar....
I. L.
Good breakfasts at reasonable prices.decent selection of food. 10% discount (with voucher) on your next visit. Good choice of beers. Outside seating also available.
M. G.
Friendly, efficient and a great music venue.
G. L.
Alright this is a turn up. The venue is good again!
Had a long period of being bad.
It was a bit weird walking through a restaurant to get to the venue but hey. It wasn't half bad. cool!
N. M.
Nice cosy pub, decent prices and live music. Added bonus that famous people and bands have performed here, such as Oasis, Bob Dylan and Katy Perry.
V. W.
I'd give this place a 5 for breakfasts. Dinner was alright, but not a 5. Nice selection of well-kept cask ales. The best thing about The Water Rats is the staff, who make you feel very welcome and always seem to go the extra mile for you.
D. C.
Great place, friendly staff, gorgeous blood orange G&T :)
P. Z.
Used the place for breakfast over three days, and dinner one evening. Terrific all the way. Great friendly staff, excellent pub food. Will be back next time I am in the area.
G. W.
Lovely friendly staff, with fantastic music history.
Called in for a breakfast which is well recommended.
Loved the background music.
J. H.
Made very welcome good service
c. w.
Nice venue.. Great band - Saint Sapphire
A. M.
Food is good, price is average for around kings cross but its really nice inside and the staff are lovely! Cheap english breakfast too!
P. B.
Great bar and venue. Lovely staff
E. O. W.
Great pub venue very compact so you are close to the band or artists. Beer not over priced and a good selection at the pub bar and the venue bar .
C. D.
Stopped today for breakfast. Lovely little place, very accomodating, great food and very clean! Would highly recommend 👌
M.
Enjoyed the food, had a lovely Cesar salad for lunch, delicious. Was made to feel very welcome especially with Bailey our assistance dog for deaf people. Will be lunching there again.
J. R.
Awesome location!! The food was great, the beer was tasty, very friendly service and the atmosphere is unique!! I definitely would recomment it. There are also some great live bands here.
R. P.
A pub fronting on to Grays Inn Rd. Looked good from the outside. The staff were a bit unprofessional - one was very young and looked new as he seemed nervous - but very polite. No one seemed to be really in charge. Food appeared to be an afterthought, Took ages for the food to be served. Asked for steak medium to well done but more on the rare side - had to send back. It was ok when it came back. Can't remember but I dont think there was any draught beer - Another downside.
D.
We held a presentation at this venue and the staff were very accommodating to our needs.
The food was nice too. We would definitely book again for any future presentations.
R. B.
Good food friendly service and live misic whats not to like.
J. R.
Really great small music venue. Had a refurb recently and done well. Acoustics good and being small size it makes even a small band look and sound great. Easy access from Kings Cross.
N. P.
Decent space. Fun and mixed crowd. Not the best beer selection behind the bar but good service. The live music section is also decent.
S. R.
Such nice food and great service! A man called Tim served us and he was so kind and efficient. Will be back again.. thank you
C. M.
A really nice place with very friendly staff. I went there to watch a friend perform and thought the space was nice, there was a great crowd and the beer wasn't too expensive. A nicely hidden place to drink.
Z. D.
This is my favorite place in London.
M. H.
Amazing very old pub with a small theatre in the back room. Food was very good, cheese and tomato sandwich with a small side of nachos, clean toilets and comfortable seating
C. M.
Nice atmosphere. Interesting clientele if u like to people watch. Friendly staff. Convenient location if waiting to leave King's Cross.
M. F.
Braw pub
m. j.
Great little find! Wasn’t too sure from the outside, but walked through the door to a lovely traditional pub. Calamari was perfect and the hand cut chips amazing.
M. W.
Very friendly and helpful staff serve fantastic full English and vegetarian breakfasts! At night, live music. Highly recommend a visit!
A. M.
Just a great place to go. Great staff, the food was brilliant and they have live music, what's not to like.
A. M.
The pancakes had barely enough maple syrup to know there was actually some. The poached eggs had no running yolk. The standard coffee was good.
K. M.
Stopped here for breakfast this morning. Very well received by all. The staff told us they have live music nearly every night too!
A. O.
Fabulous theatre production.Lovely food
J. M.
One of those places that's so small, if you take a step off the stage, you're buying a drink at the bar. Despite the tiny size, it has some great acts playing here-- some spruisingly big names, sometimes. It's got alotof good associations with it, and teh only really problem (aside from buying tickets) is that the sound is often not set up right for the size of the venue, so it ends up buzzy at the louder bits.
J. W.
Really good pub, intimate live venue too. A star taken off for the girl at the bar who just didn't pay attention to the order at all! Hopefully that was a one-off.
d. m.
Awesome little venue, steps in the dark a bit dicey, but I'd go again! May get there in time to try the food next time, looked great!
C. L.
Great pub and venue for live music. Always interesting musicians playing in the back room. And great choice of drinks and food.
I. C.
A venue that's been around for years. Has a great selection of bands playing every week. Small and intimate with lots of character.
i.
Great place! Legendary, got its own atmosphere!
M. J. G.
Excellent place for lunch and dinner. Fine food, great service and value for money. A choice for regular meals with family, friends and colleagues.
G. A.
Very nice venue with live music on some nights. Great atmosphere, drinks a bit dear though
J. G.
A Costa right opposite and I will always choose an independent instead of Costa but on this occasion I may have been wrong. A really miserable guy serving, we sat outside and there's no table service at all. I don't reckon I am in a hurry to go back.
A. W.
Great food, friendly staff, good beer and an intimate music venue. Can't fault it and will certainly return.
E. O. T. T. R.
Great place to see live bands x
M. C.
The food was extremely good, Well presented and very decently priced. The venue was spacious and made for a great dining experience.

The location was directly next to our hotel where we stayed for 3 days and so The Water Rats was the first place to go when we dropped our bagged at the hotel. We had a really nice lunch and so we came back several times and we weren't disappointed at any time.

Definitely the best pub I have been in London!
Food is delicious, staff very helpful, live bands, and their prices are very good!

Had a TOP Night with SUPERKOOL Kirkvs Brandon, Cello Sam & Good Chums Liz W, Darryl G + The Rest of The Usual S.O.D/T.O.H Possé esp. Lil Arthur Dog. Great to FINALLY go to a gig here!! Drive home was enlightening too. Saw Grenfell thanks to Liz's First Class Directione 'ome.... XO JT Gal

Owned by the Grand Order of Water Rats; hence pub's new name.
Renovated in a 1990s contemporary style. Large venue area for up and coming musicians. This was where Bob Dylan played on his first UK gig, and also saw the launch of the Pogue Mahones (subsequently named the Pogues, presumably to make their name less offensive).
Complimentary WiFi; ask for password. Credit and Debit cards not accepted, which is strange for a pub in this day and age. Steep stairs to basement toilets.
K. C.
Delicious breakfast here.I ate Eggs and avocado florentine which was very good and my daughter had the American pancakes with fruits.A great way to start the day.Very good service too.
S. M.

Great venue. Interesting selection of artists playing.

It was three years ago that I went there and made a review, which is a long time ago, and it wasn't the best experience ever, but the live music from my friend's band and other performers was good, with a good schedule and history of gigs, and it's next to Kings Cross station in a vibrant part of central London, and it has improved since my last visit with a bright future ahead, so if you fancy a little gig in a pub with history, or predrinks before going elsewhere, (or both and do a double gig!) or just want a quiet drink, try out The Water Rats.
A. S.
Great small venue that has supported live music for many years. Friendly staff and they have some great bands on
.
B. S.
Nice live music, with good food. Surprising history considering Bob Dylan played his first show here.

If you are during a concert it will be very noisy and too many people moving around the Pub and going to the toilet.
Avoid dinner time.
T. I.
