Reviews of Brewhouse & Kitchen - Sutton Coldfield
Bit of a let down.
Searched this place out after looking for somewhere to eat yesterday.
First impression is great, beautiful building and an actual in-house brewery.
Decent selection of beers and wines, the menu looks really good.
Now the downside, if you order from the app or the staff, the wait for drinks is painfully slow! I actually asked if they are short staffed and the girl said no!
I understand it’s tricky to staff a Saturday afternoon but long waits for drinks isn’t acceptable.
The food is ok, was hoping for much more, but sadly not, pork belly was overdone, crab cakes the crab had run off!
The ipa steamed chicken had a nice skin but the sauce was lacking!
The steak 🥩 was probably the best of everything, nicely seasoned and tasty.
Staffing issues are a big issue for me
Still great food and very nice service.
thank you for dinner tonight🥃🔥🤝
Nice pub and decor etc, service quick and friendly. Ruined by it’s crazy pricing. There is zero rationale for the prices they charge for beer. £6 for a pint in a suburb you must be joking. 3 beers one of which was a 330ml can cost us over £16. Why?
A lovely pub, great for sport, open fire, home brewed beer and lager as well as a great selection of other drinks. Food menu is reasonably priced and varied. Staff are really knowledgeable and friendly. The drinks menu tells you about each beer and the home brews are all named after some kind of local connection. Food deals on for sport days and a large screen. The rest of the venue still plays music for those not liking the sport.
Atmosphere relaxing. Gardens at the back. Cosy. Wooden everything. I love wood. High seats. Low seats. Brass vats of beer. Beer making days. Staff very friendly . Oh and the beer is great. I like legend the best :) even the piano had personality
Went for the gin experience, was really good. Maddie, the bar girl was very knowledgeable regarding all the different gins and handled our drunken nonsense really well! Chicken burger to die for!
Went back a week later as I was in the area, had a mixture of the small plates, all extremely tasty. Will be sure to visit again.
Really nice place, good atmosphere, simple menu food is really good. Great selection of beers and cask ales. Staff are really pleasant
2nd time there, not my choice of venue. I had hock of ham, could have been served on bigger plates, or a dish for the bones, mash potato tasted more like Smash. But staff helpful and friendly!
Great experience with Mia today, very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended! Thanks so much!!
Did the beer tasting experience. Frank was very knowledgeable and made a great host, had a lovely afternoon ☺️
I had a great time tonight all the staff were very friendly and accommodating and the food is great too I had a very rich beef pie where the meat was lovely and tender and a nice cider I've never had before.
It had a very wide drinks selection very recommended for someone who likes great comfort food and wants to try something more then your usual tipple.
I found this pub pricey for the Midlands. This chain mainly has pubs in the South of England where these prices are probably normal, but in the Black Country in particular you can for example get 2 Sunday roasts for the price you pay here and the quality and portions are better. Even in our local village pub in Northants, and they are not cheap, you will get two courses for the price of a main here.
My Wife and I had roast chicken for £12.50. Beef is even more expensive at £13.50. Admittedly it was half a chicken and nicely cooked, but under the large Yorkshire pudding there was only a few Chantenay carrots, a small portion of cabbage and two roasted potatoes.
After a long wait and the need to give a friendly reminder we were served with our deserts. I had the Cherry Bakewell Cheesecake which was very nice and my Wife the Glazed Doughnut Ice Cream sandwich. She said it was OK but not much strawberry compote. Both deserts were £4.95, which is an average reasonable price.
This pub has it's own Microbrewery that you can view in between the bar and restaurant areas. I tried two of their beers which were both very nice, we'll kept, low gravity session ales, but again considering the location and the fact that there are no transport costs, lower overheads etc. £3.85 for the Sutton Pale Ale at 3.8% is a bit expensive. You won't pay anywhere near that for a pint of Bathams bitter at the brewery tap in Brierley Hill! Mind you the most extortionate prices are for the bottles of imported beers. For example Westmal Triple £6.40 for a 330ml bottle! I bought a bottle recently in a Belgium supermarket for 1.43 euros and a Micro pub in Kent only charge £4.50 a bottle.
Surprisingly this pub are doing a Christmas Day Menu for £50, which is quite reasonable and about the going rate.
The pub allows dogs which is a thumbs up. They probably aren't allowed in the restaurant area, but the bar if very large so plenty of tables here.
Friends told me that the Brew House and Kitchen (formally the Cup) was worth a visit. Yes it was, but because of the high prices my next one will probably be sometime in the distant future!
BTW the pub does not have a car park and the streets around it have limited parking until 6pm. Sunday is slightly better.
Good service and pleasant atmosphere nice to be back definite recommendation if you’re in Sutton Coldfield
Amazing food & very friendly staff. The atmosphere was nice and there's a great little terrace on the top with USB charging points if you have electronics (make sure you bring a cable). The service was great... Our waitress gave us a free taster selection of beers/ale and described the origins of each beverage which was interesting. Highly recommend - it's reasonably priced as well.
We have lived in this area for a while and for some reason we realised we had never eaten inside the brew house, so we decided to have midweek lunch.
As soon as we walked in we were greeted and really happy to see there was a hand sanitiser station that actually had hand sanitiser unlike most places in the area.
Food was easy to order and was delicious.
Environment felt comfortable and relaxed.
We will definitely return.
Also the decor inside and the outdoor seating is beautiful.
went in on a Saturday around 4pm, Very busy but we got a table. Staff where friendly, hardly any wait for food and drinks. Burger was really good, Ales where really good as well. They let you try a little before buying so really good customer service. Will be going back, deffo advise booking a table though.
Frank did a great job during the beer tasting. Would definitely recommend
Pretty good... Bit slower than I'd like... 30mims for a pint off the app... Not ideal.
My girlfriend and I were on a gin experience and our waitress, Maddie - who was doing this for the first time - was excellent. She knew a lot about the gins we were trying and knew a lot about the history of gin and she made our experience really enjoyable. However, we were disappointed after she left as no other waiting staff came to check on us and we were left waiting after our meal for 40 minutes.
We had a booking for 6 people on a Wednesday lunch time at 2pm. Staff were very pleasant and obliging. Social distance measures were in place and a reassuring note on the cleaned table said it had been sanitised before we were seated. The Brewhouse was not overly busy with less than half of indoor seats taken. Outdoor areas are nice, with wooden shelters, music and plenty of seating. Menu is a 'grill' style, burgers, chicken, steak etc and was good. There is a wide range of craft style drinks to chose from. Prices are on the higher side for 'pub grub' but not extortionate. Marks lost for period of waiting. I accept things are a little different at the moment but it took over an hour from order to food being served. Worth a visit if you are not in a rush.
Excellent service food beers my new favourite drinking establishment
Nice atmosphere, tasty food, quirky drinks and friendly staff - only let down by the fact that our main courses all arrived at different times.
Great pub 2 nice beer gardens great beer as well
Very good food and drinks. Real ales brewed on the premises too. Nice atmosphere while dining. Staff pleasant and friendly.
This place LOOKS great, really interesting environment and a lot more going on than your usual pub. The food was pretty good too, and arrived swiftly. It was a sunny day, and we would have like to have eaten outside, but were told they wouldn't serve us food if we sat outside, something about being difficult to locate us, I didn't push for further reasoning.
We all ordered burgers with the suggested drink pairing, and it worked well. Will have to visit again and give it a proper run-through, and will share some photos!
Very kind staff, helpful and quick service. We had beef Sunday roast and a rib eye both were full of taste, steak was as I asked to be done and I will happily visit again if I am in the area.
Pleasant atmosphere, food was nice (well obviously) and staffs were helpful, smiling and pleasant overall!
Went for lunch with a friend. It was really calm. We were met with exceptional service from our waiter Matt, who was the only server on the floor. He was an absolute delight. Funny and quirky. And interacted with us both. The food was good too, But honestly Matt was absolute gold, as a ex-waitress I know how hard it is to keep going and remain professional. He did both really well and was extremely friendly. Very happy.
It's comfortable and clean. For my meal I had the Fish and Chip's which I have had before.
But the batter on the fish this time tasted very oil'y which I had to leave most of it.
So I was very disappointed this time.
Although I had a polite word with the Manager and he was going to have a talk to the chief to see where it's going wrong. I feel sure this was a one off.
Beer brewed on the premises so my love of drinking real ales totally satisfied. Food is ok, standard pub fayre and the atmosphere always good. Fantastic beer garden area out back and the log fires are a real treat when the weather's cold.
We were there for a christening party. It was great but didn't experience it as a pub as we had our own area. It was really good for an occasion though! They put on a good spread of food.
A very nice and pleasant establishment which serves a great variety of beer and ales. All members of staff were friendly and helpful.
Good food and nice friendly atmosphere. We had my grandson with us and he was given the best activity pack I have ever seen in a pub. His meal was also very good value.
It was absolutely refreshing to find such a classy restaurant/pub close to home. We learnt about the history of the in-house beer making facilities and all of the activities to come. This place is a definite must go even if you want to include a day out to learn how to brew your own beer.
Purchased some kegs from here for an event. Fantastic tasting beer and a very good range. Iain the headbrewer was great to work with and very efficiently organised what my client needed. Must return for pleasure instead of work to try a few more of their beers!
Food was good, however the beer was excellent. The waiter Mike provided a great recommendation of brewed on site beer that would pair with my food order. Brewing wise, when I arrived fermentation was in progress and the copper chambers were looking magnificent.
Went to the Brewhouse yesterday afternoon great place lovely atmosphere great drinks we had food which was lovely the staff where really good and very helpful massive thanks to Ed & jack who really looked after us supplying us with Blankets and hot water bottles which went down a treat thanks guys see you all soon
Nice range of craft beers you won't find in a regular pub (gamma ray was particularly good) and a good atmosphere. Food is good but very much a burgers and fries type place. They also do beer tasting and "learn to brew" sessions for the wannabe brewers.
We visited the brewhouse on Tuesday evening we were initially concerned at how busy it was. There was some delay in food service but our waitress Abby was very polite and apologetic and sorted the problem quickly. Would visit again.
Popped in for a quick drink as a meeting place before heading off for food elsewhere but stayed longer than originally planned as the warm, cosy decor made us feel very at home and the drink selection is almost overwhelmingly varied, from American Craft stout to Kölsch lager, if excessive consumption wasn't dangerous I would have tried a lot more!
Will be back!
Amazing bar. AWESOME customer service. When we went they opened the outside area specially for us! Quite expensive but you get what you pay for really.. only eaten here once but it wasn't the best. If you go to drink I'd say 5* but had to lower to 4* beacause of the food ☹
Colin runs a great little establishment, great choice of beers, well presented. Good atmosphere and really handy for a pre curry or after curry drink at Indian nights. Recommended :-)
Was overpriced and expensive for the area considering Witherspoon is next door and food is similar to that and slug and lettuce opposite. Bit of a hipster pub and trying to bring the clients up. Nothing special but nothing bad either all very middle england
Very warm and tasteful atmosphere , great food , excellent stout and friendly staff . Spent a Friday evening there with my wife and we were both very satisfied . We left with a smile and a promise to come back .
Great fun to explore the beer menu. The place has a great look. If only the food matched the price they ask for it it would get 5 stars.
Food is OK. I don't drink booze but my friends do. They said that the beer was nice. The food arrived at significantly different times. Service was OK.
Just to clarify this place gets 25 teams on a Monday night paying £200 and gives the winners a round of drinks, so generous!!!
Flint's on Wednesday 10 teams and £100 of prizes. Stoo still best quizmaster, but do the maths.
Excellent beer and great staff,,when in Sutton coldfield a visit is well worth while
Love this place. Food really nice and the right size portion. Love the selection of ales and how you can sample one before buying a pint
Great choice of ales, Four Oaks was lovely. Great sharing food too, ribs were tender and full of flavour, and good wings and loaded nachos too.
Staff were very helpful polite .only problem was it was a very cold building.staff did put on centre wood burner but it did nothing really to warm us up. Had it been a warmer it would have encouraged us to stay longer shame . Food was good.
Fab place with different areas to eat, drink and socialise. Lunch food was great, staff lovely, and the roof garden is a great addition. Highly recommended.
Went tonight for the first time amazing food, staff, pub & restaurant, great atmosphere could not fault it. Will definitely be going again.
Great place to eat & drink good choice of in-house beers made in there own microbrewery Also the Rhubarb & vodka seltzer went down a treat by the wife
Best range of beers in Sutton. Always willing to help out with recommendations and tasters. Food is simple but hits the spot too.
Very friendly place with a revamped menu now reasonably priced. Beer superb and brewed on the premises.
Great atmosphere, family friendly service and good food specialising in ales. Chocolate fondue went down a treat!
Well designed interior.good atmosphere and decent menu.Wines were a little overpriced for the quality, but other than that a very enjoyable venue.
Good beer tasting experience here. Not all to my taste but the idea is great and the food fine
Decent pub decent beer. No atmosphere, staff nice but not efficient and the pub was freezing cold! Food was ok but nothing special.
Lovely atmosphere, spacious, good variety of drink, dog friendly and welcoming staffs. Would recommend.
Great selection of beer for reasonable prices. Food is nice and staff are friendly. Lovely warm atmosphere too.
Great food but service a little forgetful and prices are top end for what the food is. Good selection of beers and ales on offer, but again not cheap.
Only came here for drinks, good atmosphere and a great selection of beers and cocktails. Plan to come here for food one day. Looking forward to the garden opening round the back
Really groovy place. Really cheap and tasty food. Really friendly staff. Beautiful ale made on site
Brilliant service, staff are really friendly. Great atmosphere and beautiful food. What more do you need :)
Do many beers I keep having to go back - try and catch the speed quiz or the live music nights
Chilled laid back atmosphere great for a catch up with friends!
Great atmosphere and decor. Let down by food .... fish was over cooked and bread was dry. Service was quick.
Nice selection of beer (UK plus some extra Belgian&german beers), cosy, clean and friendly place, quiet during the day!
Lovely outdoor area 👌
Lovely decor very helpful staff lovely food amazing choice of beers a tad expensive but worth it
Great service, freindly and helpful as had trouble with the App🤗. Had a brilliant night...Thank you.
Came for drinks only. Good selection of beers and friendly staff in a nice environment.
Followed this with a Christmas Day meal. Food not bad could have been warmer service was really slow which was disappointing to say the least.
Good beer. Staff seemed to not know who was next at the bar. Quite annoying
Decent food, great beer selection. Nice atmosphere.
Come for this quiz most Mondays, it's not the biggest prize in the world but the amount of teams and Stoo the quiz master makes it worth it!
Food was amazing. Service was friendly and quick.
Lovely cosy place. Went for lunch. Very pleasant staff. Reasonable price.
Great in house brewery just make sure to read what is in the drink as they have a great mixture
Not bad, mind you I have not ate there. So another visit down the line to dine perhaps.
Great open fire sat round the table, good craft ales n selection of gins, vodkas
Was a lovely pub but because of burning wood we all smelt like we had been to a BBQ
Nice place good variety of drinks, food wasn't the best
Great food and beer along with great staff, proper pub.
Had a great time, staff & service was excellent thankyou xx
Seems an ok place, popped in for a drink after meal out, was only there for an hour, was busy.
Beer very good, food very average. OK for a quick snack.
Overpriced beer, a manager who seemed to have very little to do telling already busy staff that there were customers waiting to be served.
Not keen. A bit too modern, not a relaxing comfy pub, sorry not for me.
Tasty food & drink. Good venue, higher priced !
Out of nearly everything we ordered. But food that did finally make it to the table was good.
Best pub in Sutton. Best ale selection by far pricey but worth it
Brewhouse very authentic with its huge copper stills, only had a drink so don't know about food
Nice food, beer's a bit pricey, but different.
Lovely relaxing place for food and drinks. Does get busy here
Love this pub, great original beers and great atmosphere and decor
Great pub, great food fantastic atmosphere and ambience.
Awesome Place.. Great drinks and food.. Great staff.
Good choice of beer and spirits, but drinks cost more than other local pubs.
Excellent beer tasting masterclass! Thanks to Mark for an informative and relaxed beer insight
Cosy venue. Nice staff, especially when they remember to open the bottled beverages 😉
Great atmosphere and large range of drinks available
Best brew, Free Specs, I don't need to go SpecSavers anymore
Love this place. Great beer, fab food!
Very Yummy food. Lovely and friendly staff
Had a gin tasting experience. Great fun!
Food is great but drinks are a little expensive
Friendly staff, stylish and welcoming interior design, willing to support live music
Great food and range of beers and cool bar.
Great micro brewery, nice atmosphere and decor.
Great beer and good, reasonably priced food
