E. H.If you're looking for a great place to catch some live music, The York Vaults is definitely worth checking out. They had a great band playing when I was there - the Ming City Rockers - and they put on a great show. The stage area is really well set up and it's a great venue for dancing. Prices are fairly reasonable, and it's just a really fun and lively place overall. Highly recommend it!
D. S.Great gig at York Vaults. First time I have been here. It's really convenient with the Car park directly opposite and at £3 for all night it is well worth it. Doors open dead on 7pm. Look forward to the next visit.

A. C.Absolutely love this place. Great variety of live music, excellent service and friendly staff. We had a socially distanced birthday gathering there recently in their newly extended beer garden which had a really vibrant atmosphere and we had a fab evening.
Always one of my go to places for a good night/afternoon out.

A. S.Attended a Saturday remembrance drink from 12 to 6pm, so not the usual gig night review for this music venue. Efficient hardworking bar staff and a good choice of lagers. No soap or hot water in men's toilets which isn't good at any time, and not an event like this when well over 100 people are shaking hands and sharing a buffet. Excellent large outdoor drinking area with plenty of seats.

The whole place has been done up, with a beautiful extended garden area , nice seating, lighting, lovely plants and heaters for when it's cold. The inside has been completely opened up making it much easier to see the bands. The atmosphere is amazing, for me it's the best place in York. Anna and the team are very welcoming and friendly . It's definitely well worth a visit and well worth the 5 stars.
D.Fairly large outdoor area. Well covered. Indoor area looked nice and seemed to be getting done up when I was there. Friendly staff with a good selection of music on the speakers. Well priced drinks, what more could you want!
I will definitely be returning to see some live music in this venue.

A. C.Outstanding live music venue, well worth a visit. Great beer garden. Reasonably priced drinks. Everyone is made to feel welcome by hosts Anna, Chris, Niki and all the staff

B.During lock down the vaults now has a new co-owner who has invested time and money to massively improve the venue , from being a small intimate cosy 2 room pub it has now been opened up and bar relocated to provide an excellent live music space with new sound system lighting and the biggest screen I’ve seen , plenty of seating space along with a good area for dancing in front of the stage . Outside the old smoking yard has trebled in size with wall heaters and pagodas for rainy days . Table service is prompt and polite . Once lockdown restrictions are fully lifted the venue will go from being socially distant busy to full on bouncing packed . Some great bands have been booked moving forward a small entry charge to cover band expenses etc but drinks are cheaper than usual york city centre

J. E.Have attended a few of their goth nights, and I'm always impressed! The drinks are pretty well priced, the music is fantastic, people actually get up and dance in the haze of the fog machine. The walls are decorated with some great memorabilia, even out in the smoking courtyard. Also the staff were absolutely lovely and have made some good nights into great nights. Will definitely be back for more goth nights!

It has been fully redecorated and new selection of beers. Booking really great bands now and big names for ticket events. It's getting better and better.

Over that period of time I’ve noticed quite a lot of changes
It is now one of the best music venues in York
It’s got a great room with built in P.A system and lights and playing in a band I find this quite a godsend
On top of this the bar staff are so polite and the quality of the beer etc is always top quality
I will continue to go in to the vaults on a regular basis and long may it reign

K. R. J.Having worked in a few good pubs over the years, I like a pub where the landlord/lady bring their personalities to the place. These two certainly do and their love of music shines through. The band that was on when we visited (Dark Flowers), did a great set that pleased metal fans and mods alike. The music that played between the two halves was uplifting soul and mod. This whole thing was a free gig just down the road from where we were staying in York for the night. Beer is good, staff are good and the locals I talked to were nearly all very friendly. Would I go again? OH YES!
s. s.As both a performer and punter at The Victoria Vaults I have always had a fantastic experience. The staff are friendly, the pub has a great decor, it has had recent refurbishments to make the stage and lighting better and the Vaults is doing a great job of adhering to all of the Covid restrictions necessary to run as a safe pub.

The beer was of good quality and there was live music in the other bar.
Went back the next day and there were some rowdy racegoers on their way back to the station. Once they had left, the pub was pleasantly quiet.

F. P.Great Music. Different Styles. Very popular bands are sometimes not listed, so you have to be savvy and become one of the 'in the knows'. Be early for a seat or late to stand at the bar. (One or two nights a week there is no music) Band details on those listed is minimal, research the band you fancy to make sure their style is yours too!
