I am so luck to call A View my local optometrist and one stop shop for all things eyes. From sunglasses, eye exams, contacts and glasses. They are incredibly kind, patient, and go out of their way for their customers. They even helped me create custom glasses when I realised the frames I wanted did not come in black and gold. They found sunglasses, replaced the lenses and now I have my favourite pair of glasses, possibly ever! Tony at the front desk is the best and went out of his way to make my dream glasses happen, and Dr. Mirza was so kind and even explained my eye photos to me - so patient and kind! Highly recommend them to everyone!

I went to A View Opticians for my eye exams and contact lenses when I first moved to London 2 years ago, based on their excellent Google reviews among a wealth of opticians on the same street. A View definitely lived up to and exceeded the hype! Tony, the owner, is welcoming, funny, professional, and passionate about what he does. He always helped me re-fit my glasses or clean the nooks and crannies of them when I was walking by on the way to get ice cream, and his professional services are always prompt & considerate. He treats you more like a friend than a customer but always gets the job done beautifully too, as you'd expect of a 5-star service provider. Highly recommend!

Just popped into A View opticians while passing as one of my contact lenses was irritating me and I didn’t have a spare with me. My first impressions of this place is so high! I had no appointment and not an existing patient. Tony helped me by having a quick look in my irritated eye to see if everything was ok, looked at my prescription and then got a new contact lens for me - thankyou so much for seeing me - you have made my day and saved me from a very sore eye!

I usually do not write reviews but I just came back from my eye exam and buying new frames at A View and felt I absolutely needed to leave a comment. Having worn glasses my whole life I can say that this was hands down the best customer service experience I have ever had at any optician. I received the most thorough eye exam with state of the art technology (really fascinating) and felt like I was in the best of hands. Also Tony was exceptionally helpful, friendly and professional when helping me select my frames and lenses. I will definitely recommend A View to anyone I know!

I highly recommend A View on Upper Street, it is very comforting to go back to the same optician over the years and see the same people working there, a rare sight in fast moving London! I found A View via Google and decided to go with them because of the very positive reviews. When I first visited, Tony was indeed very helpful and delivered a professional and knowledgeable service. It does seem evident that he enjoys his profession. However, my experience echoes the 3-star review of a previous customer (Tony), as the second time I visited A View, Tony was not friendly, but dismissive and haughty. Whether this was due to the fact that other customers were waiting, it was the end of the day, a purchase had already been made, or whatever reason, it is a shame as Tony is a knowledgeable optician who clearly enjoys his profession, and being able to provide a personalised service is what enables such a business stand out.

2021 eye exam time! Was so glad to be able to have my eye exam at my favourite optician, everything was covid safe despite the ongoing pandemic. AND again Tony has excelled in finding me fab frames- this time for my new occupational lenses. I bought my first varifocal glasses two years ago but decided this time with Tony’s advice and with all of this wfh screen time I also needed specific occupational ones. Brilliant Customer Service I went to View opticians In Islington with my sister. She wanted my opinion on some new glasses. I brought some broken sunglasses with me to ask for some advice. I was impressed with Tony. Out of all the frames in the shop, he had picked the ones that best suited my sister’s face. She tried many other glasses. He also repaired my sunglasses free of charge, by replacing a missing screw in the frame. Tony was very knowledgeable and provided exemplary service. I Highly recommend this opticians.

I highly recommend A View on Upper St for everything from quality of care and service to quality of options. We had dropped in over the years and bought gorgeous frames and browsed, always pleased with Tony’s friendly service and insight, but it wasn’t until our son was having trouble with his vision that I realised quite how good they are at what they do. Firstly, when asking around for recommendations on a “good place to get a child’s eyes tested”, it seemed all of Islington enthusiastically steered us here. I sat in on the initial appointment and the care and gentle approach made my son feel so well looked after, no nerves or worry. He enjoyed his appointment so much, he asked how soon can he get another eye test. Tony’s recommendations on finding the most well suited, cool frames helped my son be excited about his first specs and feel good about wearing them. He was so pleased to have clear vision and felt good in his chosen frames, that we never had to deal with reluctance to wear them. I’m sure the care and approach at A View helped our son feel good about his glasses. The follow up care has been just as brilliant. My husband and I also count on Tony to always stock lovely frames, and he has such good understanding to help find the look that best suits. This is a great place for the whole family. I really enjoyed getting our eyes tested?! I was - not - expecting - that? A View Opticians were recommended by a specialist and I was slightly dreading it but they were so friendly, knowledgable and fun that I actually had a very nice morning, thank you very much! When it comes to your eyes, particularly with a glaucoma-related issue, you need to have full confidence that the prescription you get it one you can trust as it takes a while for your eyes to adjust to the prescription. I couldn't be happier with my glasses - 3 pairs, total freedom and comfort to enjoy trying on as many frames as we liked for as long as we liked, big thumbs up from us! I have just visited A View once more and once again they exceeded expectation, as they have taken such great measures to make sure their shop is clean and safe. The service and selection is really excellent. I went in there for an eye test and buy new glasses. I wanted to know a lot about the workings of the eye and how glasses affect vision, especially because my previous two pairs of glasses were giving me headaches, despite the high street brand telling me that they wouldn't. Tony and the optometrist, who's name i forget unfortunately, were both really knowledgeable and explained everything I wanted to know patiently. Tony made the process of choosing a pair of glasses really smooth and comfortable as well, giving great tips. Went a couple times and got the right pair in the end. Been wearing them for a few months now, and they're amazing. It is slightly more expensive than the standard high street brands, but really worth it in my opinion.

I’m updating my old review (left intact below for your reading pleasure). After years of perfect vision the ageing process finally caught up with me, and I went to A View for an eye test. As I’d suspected, it was time for reading specs. Tony sorted me out with a great looking pair of glasses and helped me with suggestions for how to get used to using them. One week in and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you for the great service. (And I stand by everything I originally wrote.) Original review: A View Islington must be the best optician in London I could not recommend it more highly. Tony is exemplary in his professionalism and customer care and is a perfectionist which has been really helpful for my prescription issues. My two sons are also clients and Hannah is our optometrist, she is an absolute gem… very patient with the boys and really on the ball in terms of spotting what was not working for my prescription and sorting it out. We’ve recommended A View to all our friends, even ones who do not live locally.

Five stars is not enough to rate the outstanding care and attention Tony and Mohammad provide. Cannot recommend enough.

Best optician I’ve ever been to really! For a long time I had been going to different ‘high street’ opticians and just never felt happy with the service and glasses/contact lenses I was given. So I decided to check online and came across A View. With my previous visits to other opticians I was given a different prescription every time and I just needed to get it right! As soon as I stepped into A view I felt welcomed and Tony was absolutely amazing! I explained to him that I wasn’t confident with glasses and he was able to help me pick the perfect frame! I felt relaxed and didn’t feel rushed at all. Honestly I never thought I would enjoy wearing my glasses & I’m loving them! It is a little bit pricey however it is worth it! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND Thank you so much for such a comprehensive and informative service. I actually learnt so much about not only my eyesight but also my general state of health. Part of the assessment involved a photographic machine that looks at the retina in great detail. The other point that really impressed me was in the end they advised me to stick with my over the counter glasses for another 1-2 years rather than trying to sell me a new pair of glasses. There is no way that would have happened if l had gone to one of the chains. I won’t go anywhere else now. It feels like they are providing a real service to the Islington community. My eye sight needed to be 20/20 as a Cinematographer and TV Cameraman. Years and not perfect "high street" prescriptions have taken their toll, but thanks to the careful and diligent examination by Muhammad the optometrist and excellent Nikon lenses Tony prescribed, I now have a crisp and sharp new world to observe again. Updating 6 years later :) I still go to Tony and his team exclusively for all my contact lens and glasses appointments and I still cannot recommend their thorough and friendly service enough. I have now moved to Italy and have been known to call at the last minute for a full check up when in town, Tony always accommodates me and not only makes sure I leave feeling like everything has been addressed, he has arranged to send glasses and contacts to me in Italy when I had only a day or two in the city and not enough time to pick them up myself. I lived in Highbury for 14 years and a huge draw was the village feel and the personal service from professional small businesses such as AView. The humour, kindness and excellent standard of care I received there means I will continue to return, even if I don't move back to London any time soon. Thank you Tony, I'm looking forward to my next appointment :) As a contacts and glasses wearer I have had regular appointments with the guys at AView. Tony's welcome is always the same, warm, friendly, enthusiastic, fun and not in the least bit pushy when it comes to purchasing. I have a habit of losing frames, scratching lenses, and mixing up contacts and have probably managed to double up on the required appointments over the years. I can therefore absolutely vouch for the team's excellent standards, thorough service and very good natures! Add to all of this the fantastic range of frames to suit every face and Tony's skill when it comes to gently guiding the selection of the perfect set of frames for individual faces, personalities and needs, and I am certain that you won't find a better glasses shopping experience.

Amazing service. We're talking a thorough 5 stars with each of them earned through great service, prompt delivery, and professional expertise. I got my general eye exam, my contacts fitted and a fresh set of daily wearables all in the same day. The eye exam and the contact fitting were both extremely profesional, fastidious with the record keeping and offered ample time for me to ask a myriad of questions. The best part of A View Opticians was being able to ask the good doctor a series of questions on his recommendations for eye drops, contact lenses and his view of the latest tech. A-View is a great north-london based family run opticians. Their selection of frames is superb and the level of service is top-notch. Tony has an uncanny ability of pairing a face to a glasses frame. After-care service is second to none - they've saved me a number of times when I've accidentally broken my glasses! It's always a pleasure to visit, with no hard selling, and always good honest advice.

Tony in Islington started great and I loved A-View but the last few times have found him to be rude. I have spent a lot of money there as they have my prescription. There have been several instances when he's been dealing with me and when another customer came in, just ignored me for some time, without asking or apologising. The last time I went in he was very dismissive, it was as if he was doing a favour for me, despite my substantial spend for 10 minutes work.

My first visit to View Upper Street was some five or six years ago when I took advantage of an eye test voucher that my then employer offered. The advice and service from Tony was and continues to be outstanding, which is why I am a returning customer. I'm glad that I didn't go to one of the big chains where the chances of seeing the same person again and getting consistent advice are minimal. There is no hard sell at View just good solid advice and opinion. The attention to detail and reliability is great! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! I’ve been going to AView Islington for as long as I can remember and both Tony & Mohammed have a real passion for their job and genuine care for their customers. I always feel welcome and very well looked after when I go in for my routine checkups which are very thorough, combining Mohammed’s expertise and high quality equipment/tech. I’m also very impressed by their covid regulations; hand gel is available upon arrival, a filter is used to clean the air in the examination room after every visit, everything is wiped down before use and of course masks are worn by all throughout. Somehow, Tony at A View managed to be modest as well as professional, perceptive, and gracious...skillfully guiding me through a vast selection of frames and options, and at the right moment, letting me have some time on my own to ponder. My old glasses (from Specsavers) had unexpectedly broken with only three days until the start of my holidays. Amazingly, Tony was able to produce my beautiful new varifocal, high-index glass spectacles a whole day before my departure. Prices are of course higher than somewhere like Specsavers, but the knowledgeable service and lovely human touch at A View are absolutely worth it. These guys are brilliant. Completely different from the usual opticians full of used-car salesmen in cheap suits trying to force you to buy products you don't really want or need. Tony is calm, patient, interested and genuinely friendly and quite apart from anything else he's got some real style, which is, let's face it, what you've come to an optician's for. The glasses they stock have great character, but it's really the service that you've come for. Oh, and Tony hasn't given me a free pair of specs in return for this review - it's just that he's always gone out of his way to help me out, even dropping some urgently-needed specs through my letterbox himself one weekend when I needed them fast.

I am constantly losing or breaking my glasses. The plus side of this infliction- I get to go and see Tony at A-View! It's always a pleasure. First, the service is amazingly efficient. If I email the store with an urgent 'I've broken them again' plea, within an hour there is a solution and all I have to do is swing by and get them sorted. I shudder to think of all the hours I had previously spent on the phone to specsavers spelling out my name and order number. No more! Second, here, there is never a hard sell and always an honest opinion (if asked for of-course). Today, I tried on a pair of £300 specs, before then being promptly directed to a pair of £35 ones that Tony suggested would suit me much better. And they did! Finally, if they haven't got something in store, they will order it in a flash, or even direct you to another store that may have them in stock. Always a pleasure. I look forward to breaking my glasses again soon.

Absolutely wonderful people, place, service & frames! It's basically like having an expert spectacle stylist (StEYElist?!) finding the ideal frame for your face. Not only that but the remember who you are and what you do, the examinations are in depth and never rushed, and always perfect prescriptions. When I bought my current pair three years ago I was told "people will stop you on the street, these look so good". I assumed this was sales patter. It wasn't. I can't recommend theses guys enough!! I really enjoyed going to A View Opticians and was well overdue for a check up and new specs. I felt my examination was thorough and professional. Just had a great experience at A View in Islington - Mohammed who did my eye test really put me at my ease and explained everything that was happening. So when wanting to buck the mainstream trend and follow a quirky spectacle-trail of their own, what to do? Get Mr T, (ain't flyin' in no plane sucker?- not him!) the resident optician at A-View on the scope and the result is an eclectic choice of frames carefully selected for you. I picked the second pair I tried. A few days later, picked them up and absolutely love them. Plus follow up assessments to assess the condition of my eyes with state of the art imaging equipment and thoughtful and insightful feedback on their condition by the optometrist has made my visit a joy. I used to go to a national chain of opticians and I have never ever been totally happy with a pair of glasses until this new pair. When I first put them on I did not feel I needed to get used them. I could not recommend AView Islington more highly. Tony is exemplary in his professionalism and customer care and is a perfectionist which has been really helpful for my prescription issues. My two sons are also clients and Hannah is our optometrist, she is an absolute gem… very patient with the boys and ensuring an accurate and comfortable prescription for them. She has really been on the ball in terms of spotting what was not working for my prescription and sorting it out. Simply superb service. I started out at A View Crouch End and thought their service was so good that when I moved out of the area I made sure to stay with them but changed to their Upper Street branch for convenience. I wear both lenses and glasses so go in annually for check-ups (which I am conveniently reminded to do via letter). Every time I have ever visited the Upper Street branch I have had nothing but the warmest welcome - you know, the kind you get at your local shop because you're in there all the time and they know you by your first name. The staff really have that personal touch sussed and yes it does make a difference, especially in a big city. I used to buy my lenses online, but turns out it's not cheaper so I now get my supply from A View to support local business. Loveliest opticians in town.

After a friends recommendation of the Crouch End store, I decided to try A View at Upper St as a more convenient location for myself. I was not disappointed. The service there is first class. Friendly, professional and extremely informative. The price is a little on the high side, but the quality of service by far makes up for this. If you're looking to invest in a reliable and thorough eye check, this is a good choice.

And decided to pop in for a chat with Tony and Mohammed and have a checkup about a slight problem I was having with my left eye. The service these boys supply is quite simply ...Magic! I have been a professional magician for a long time now, I wear contacts for performances and glasses at other times. View have delivered miracles of eye care that defy my understanding. I have never been left without lens supplies, even when my inefficiency has left me dangerously low. Yesterday they surpassed even their usual exemplary service, with the instant restoration of a pair of glasses.Groping for my spectacles, Harry Potter style, first thing in the morning and trying to get the world in focus, there was a soft 'click' and I was left holding an unrepairable pair of glasses. Within six minutes of entering the Upper street branch, I had a new pair on my nose and the world was as sharp and clear as it needs to be.

I cannot recommend this fantastic opticians highly enough in terms of service and support it is second to none. I once, 3 years ago, attempted to wear contacts at a mainstream high street chain and having little direction, I spent a frustrating 30mins not being able to get 1 contact lens in my eye. This put me off for a long time until I decided to do something about it and despite my determination, if it wasn't for the patients and guidance I received I wouldn't be wearing them today as I have extremely sensitive eyes. I can now put them in and take them out within 5 mins! Life changing and extremely grateful.
