If you're thinking of going to another opticians, don't. I've been to numerous throughout my life and can safely say I'll never go anywhere else now. Not only is the service 11/10, but Hillel was able to diagnose an issue I have with my eyes that was completely missed my entire life by every other optician I had been to. Really lovely range of glasses and lenses too. Makes my day every time I go in there. Can't recommend enough.

The best optician I’ve been to in my entire life. Someone who really cares. My eyes have been checked thoroughly as opposed to the high street brands that literally spent with you only 13min. The prices here are also competitive and lower than these chains. I wish I knew about this place earlier. Everyone is this place is very helpful and knowledgeable

The optician is great. I went there urgently as my original pair of glasses have just brokem. Althought they were very busy, they tried their best to accommodate me as they understand I was urgently in need of a new pair of glasses. They explained everything in details, with professional advice and real care.
I have yet to receive my new glasses, but the frames I checked are all stylish and competively priced. I am very satisifed with them and I very much look forward to receiving my new glasses. This is definitely somewhere I will plan to use as my regular optician.

I've just had possibly the most comprehensive eye examination I've ever had with Hillel at Fisheye Opticians, and having only experienced the high street chains prior to my appointment (VisionExpress/Specsavers etc), I've got to say that the service is worlds apart. Often, a trip to the Opticians feels rushed, with the staff themselves feeling more like salesmen/women than medical professionals - that's not the case here - though I did end up ordering two pairs of glasses (long overdue) today, and will consider using them for contact lenses going forward also. I highly recommend Fisheye Opticians to anyone in need of an eye test and top it all off, Hillel is a lovely bloke to match.

Caring opticians, great customer service
Had a great experience with Fisheye. They sorted me out with very comprehensive eye exam and a nice pair of varifocals. Hillel also suggested a dry eye exam and treatment that has been making a difference. When my lenses didn't feel quite right after a couple of months, they were able to get new lenses for me at no cost. Wonderful stuff.

Friendly, polite and professional. Three words that sum them up. I have been going there for several years and intend to be seeing them for many more years. The choices of glasses is superb and great value for money. They go out of their way to make sure you are getting what you need. A smile a greeting and a welcoming feel. Thank you.

I had my eye test today conducted by Hillel and walked away feeling that I've had the most comprehensive check up ever! Very friendly atmosphere and great attention to detail - highly recommend!

Highly recommend this optician for any eye tests as well as buying glasses - such a lovely, caring family business! They did a really thorough job of testing my eyesight - both for glasses and contact lenses - and gave me several pairs of lenses to trial. They also went out of their way to find me a pair of green reading glasses at a good price - I'm very happy with my glasses!

Had the most lovely experience. Hillel is one of the most personable optometrists I've ever had and the customer service was excellent. Will be my optician of choice in London.

I recently had my first UK eye exam at Fisheye Optical. Dr. Weintraub was highly attentive and made sure to fully explain all of my results. During the eye imaging there were a few spots that appeared to be CHRPE marks, and Dr. Weintraub offered to share the images with a colleague for feedback (which meant a great deal to my piece of mind!). I would highly recommend Dr. Weintraub and this practice.

DON'T go to Specsavers!
The very experienced, professional and friendly team at Fisheye rescued me after a rushed, impersonal, tick-box experience at Specsavers where the lenses I was prescribed made me feel sick. By contrast, Mr Weintraub took his time with me to check my prescription thoroughly and discuss the different options available for distance and concentration work to suit my lifestyle and make my eyes feel as comfortable as possible (I am long-sighted and have astigmatism). My new lenses feel great and are of good quality with anti-glare and blue light coating. I feel confident that I could pop in at any time for first class after-care.

Very thorough and professional eye examination. Wide selection of frames. I've never been to specsavers but I suspect this optician might be more experienced than their operatives.... His glasses have made a huge difference to my close up and reading life. Is Mr Weintraub a special kind of optical genius or just very well qualified? I don't know - you'd have to ask him.

I first visited Fisheye Opticians in 2012, and I was very impressed with the service I received. I then moved away from London and went to a local optician for convenience. After buying an expensive pair of glasses last year at a local optician that made my eyes red and sore, I asked for a re-test at Fisheye. The previous prescription was wrong. I now have a lovely new pair of glasses supplied by Fisheye that are perfect for me, and no more red eyes. Thank you Fisheye!

Having worn glasses or contact lenses for over 40 years, I have seen a few opticians but Mr Weintraub is definitely the best. He is incredibly thorough, patient and kind.
I was on a bus going down the Holloway Road and as we went past the shop the lady sitting by me said, 'Oh, that's my optician, he's marvellous'.
He is terrific with children, having dealt with my three boys from a toddler with a squint to a 10 year old desperate to get out of specs and into contact lenses, and one who started with specs for reading but was able to give them up after following eye exercises given by Mr Weintraub. He is now on the Tufnell Park Parents group recommended trades list.
Skeptical husband (also a lifelong specs/contacts wearer) who always knows better than anyone else about everything has also had to admit he is jolly good.

Before leaving Britain for good in 1996, I went to an optician in Holloway Road, London, to stock up with several pairs of glasses, since I am notorious for breaking or losing them. Added to a thorough eye test and swift delivery of the specs I ordered was a [free] reassurance from the optometrist about my left eye.
I cannot read using only the left eye unless the letters are enormous and had always been terrified of damaging my [good] right eye. The then proprietor of 75 Holloway Road blocked vision from my right eye while providing a [presumably near microscope strength] lens for the left. He then passed me a copy of The Times to read. Wow, wish I'd met the guy 35 years earlier.
Fast forward to last month [March, 2016]. In need of a new eye test and new specs for both driving and reading. I revisited 75 Holloway Road with the sentimental if fairly ridiculous notion that my hero in the eye business might well still be there.
He wasn't of course. But his clone was. The current boss of the establishment, Hillel, is a guy with the same quiet, reassuring manner, clearly backed up -- which helps -- by immense experience and knowledge of his trade. The similarity of my good feelings in that establishment on occasions 20 years apart was uncanny.
Thank you, Hillel, for a thorough eye test and talking me through it in language I could understand. Thank you for guiding me in seconds to Harry Potter-style frames for the two pairs [don't ask] that didn't break the bank. Thank you for providing them both within 48 hours in time for me t catch my flight out of the country.
After Beirut, Dubai and Istanbul, I live in France these days but I will be back in London for an annual eye test. As in various other areas, the motto of sticking with a good eye guy holds true.

Went here today to have eye checked after noticing persistent floater in left eye vision. Wanted an optician or optometrist around Highbury & Islington station and saw the good reviews on Google and thought I'd give this one a try. I called at 8.30am and left a message. Hillel called be back and we had a ten minute chat about the problem. He suggested that I might want to consider going straight to hospital, but that he couldnt know for sure how serious the issue was without looking at the eye. I thought I'd get checked out by him in the morning as I was in the area. By 11am I was being checked out. He spent more than two hours with me and was incredibly thorough. After considering all the points, he ended up advising me to go to specialist eye hospital to have eye checked there by a consultant, and wrote a letter to a consultant and enclosed photographs in the same envelope. It cost £105 for the two hour consultation which included the scans/photographs etc. This is very good value for more than two hours with a specialist who took his time, was thorough and went the extra mile for me.

Fantastic attention to detail with getting things right for my tricky eyes (I have variable double vision!). Also brilliant on solving eye health issues like blepharitis and dry eye. Caring, humourful and professional. Recommend.
