What a delightful experience it is going and seeing Joy and the team. Their levels of customer service and care are exceptional. One is made to feel very welcome from booking an appointment right through stepping inside the door. My family have known Joy for many many years and my children have been looked after by her team since their very first eye test. They do the regular stuff really well but also have masses of hi tech kit that can show you what the inside of your eyes look like in graphic detail. They can, reassuringly, also compare it with previous assessments to see if there's been any degeneration or change. They also have a wide range of really cool frames and glasses. I left with a smile on my face and a new word for my vocabulary!!! Even if you have to travel to Northfields, in my view it is well worth the trip.

Had a lot of discomfort in my eye, and needed a check-up to ensure my contacts and my eye were ok. Have used opticians for c30 years and thought I knew them, but Hynes were amazing. I can't recommend Joy and her team at Hynes optician highly enough. My family have always received the best of care from each and everyone of the staff here. Recently, when my daughter, who is away in Cornwall was suffering with a problem with her eye and was unable to get anyone to see her where she is, Joy correctly diagnosed the issue over the phone and directed us to the eye unit in Truro. Due to the Covid restrictions my daughter spent all Saturday afternoon trying to be seen. They insisted on a referral which Joy kindly returned to the office to email to my daughter. She was finally seen and the matter resolved. To be able to get such a quick response from Hynes and to have such expert advice was absolutley invaluable, it was very reassuring and gave us the conviction to keep persisting until my daughter was seen. I can't thank Joy enough. The service at Hynes is quite unique and above anything I have experienced anywhere else.

I was recommended this Opticians for getting my Daughter's eyes tested from my local friends. I have to say the experience was second to none- Friendly reception and very welcoming and couldn't be more helpful. I was not expecting my Daughter to need glasses it was just a first visit to test her eyesight and I was so glad I went. The lovely Mrs Hynes saw to us and put my Daughter at such ease. I was totally amazed at the level of service and care we experienced That day. My daughter was over the moon at the thought of getting glasses and chose her glasses that day and we picked them up yesterday and she is super Happy. Having been unimpressed with the care received in the past from one of the large chain opticians interested primarily in making profit (on-the-surface assessments, pushing to purchase new spectacles even when you don’t need a new pair, getting you to sign up to a contact lenses subscription and when your lenses are ready to collect form the store that’s when you learn you’re being given an unbranded medical device and not the lenses you tried during your assessment) I wanted to try somewhere where my eyesight would be in good hands and well looked after. The examination with Hynes was very thorough and well explained, the staff were welcoming and friendly. At no point I felt pushed to purchase anything I didn't need. I had my current sloping spectacles adjusted (the chain I used to go to were unable to get that right despite several attempts) and Hynes adjusted even my sunglasses. Very pleased to have found this local gem - I will be going back for sure.

I'm so pleased I went to Hynes for a second opinion. I'd had a perfectly good assessment and reading prescription elsewhere but had a feeling that the advice for varifocals wasn't quite right. Joy was, succinct, professional and reassuring. She also noticed Blepharitis (eye inflammation) that wasn't noticed/mentioned on my original eye inspection elsewhere and as a result I'm now in a position to manage it (common condition) to prevent it getting worse. I also know that varifocals aren't required right now, there's an intermediate option I can consider when balancing reading glasses on the tip of my nose gets a bit boring! Highly recommended!

I chose Hynes because it is my local independent optometrists. You may be able to get better deals from larger chains, or cheaper glasses online, but the quality and service I got from Hynes can't really be beaten in the impersonal high-street chains or online. From start to finish, I was made to feel welcome, valued and indeed part of the family by everyone from the reception staff, to Joy (the co-owner and an Optometrist) to Davina (I hope I got that name right) the Dispensing Optician. The service was amazing - an hour for a full checkup, including laser scans, pressure tests (with a cool gadget from Finland that gently pokes your eyeball rather than blasting it with air) and a full explanation of what everything does including a detailed rundown of what the laser scan does or doesn't show on my poor old eyeballs. There's plenty of choices of frames - I could find at least 5 that I liked and suited me so it wasn't restrictive (I have a fat head) and they can do anything you like in terms of lenses (including the Nikon ones with scratch-guarantee that I went for because I'm careless with my glasses). Delivery was quick - I was promised 1-2 weeks, it actually turned out to be fewer than 7 days - I got the call that the glasses were ready a few minutes before the day and time I had the appointment the previous week. All in all, I'd definitely go back - to be honest I'm almost looking forward to it!

I had a broken frame and was looking to get a new one.. I was trying my luck to see if this optometrist would fix it. I walk in to be politely greeted with a big smile. My frames were fixed in a jiffy and was not even charged but was given an option to donate to the optometrist charity.. I gladly did and was so happy that I decided my next spectacles would be from this place.. Thye really value customers and it is evident. Special shout for Suzanne and Lynda who took care of this fantastic experience... Big thumbs up...

The response from Hynes that they "have a policy of respecting every individual's budget" is absolutely evident, in my experience. I would urge people to ignore this review. A big thank you to Asif Tufail (Optometrist) who was exceptional - kind, caring and so thorough. My eye issues are slightly more complicated and he took the time to take photo's of my eyes to assess for dryness, as well as take a scan of my eyes to assess my eyesight further. The initial call with their receptionist was also informative and exceptional. What a great, professional team!

I arrived unannounced last Saturday morning with a stye in my eye & a pair of broken glasses , which I desperately needed fixing as I was unable to wear my contact lenses. 2 hours later Nilpa had treated my eye , glasses had been fixed by Linda & I was on my way.
