I would like to encourage anyone experiencing problems with their eyesight, whether it be cataracts or simply frustrated with wearing glasses. The service and care from the team was absolutely outstanding. Everything was explained in great detail including all of my options. On the day of surgery I was made to feel comfortable and assured. There was absolutely no discomfort before, during or after surgery and I could see fantastic results immediately after surgery. Alex was very professional throughout the whole experience with a great sense of humour too!. I'd do it again in a heartbeat - I cannot recommend Alex and his team enough.

I felt fully informed when I underwent replacement lens surgery by Mr Alex Shortt. He was very patient and kind and I was relaxed throughout the procedure. I can't speak highly enough of Dr Shortt and his team. Being a nervous patient is always challenging for those involved and with something so important as eyesight I wasn't sure I would feel comfortable enough to go ahead with laser surgery following a consultation. I was so impressed with the knowledge, care and confidence of Dr Shortt and his team (not to mention the facilities) that I made the decision to have laser surgery immediately. On the day of the surgery I was visibly nervous and everyone was so fantastic in looking after me. The theatre team even offered to hold my hand throughout the procedure. Dr Shortt talked me through everything that was happening at the time and I couldn't have asked for a better experience or outcome. Alex Shortt is the absolute best. Saved my eye, vision, and my sanity from a horrible assault in 2013. I could be blind and scarred for life right now but he's a living guardian angel and miracle worker... so lucky to have found him. He's an incredibly smart yet humble surgeon. I am a 23 year old student who has been wearing glasses for 14 years with my prescription nearly -5.00 in both eyes. Mr Shortt and his team made me feel extremely welcome and at ease during my initial consultation at Optegra Guildford. I could not reccomend Mr Shortt highly enough, the procedure took 10 minutes in total, with 7 second for my right eye and 20 seconds for my left eye. The following day I went back for a check up and my vision was also 2 times better than 20/20. The whole process has been life changing as I can now no longer rely on glasses or contact lenses for anything! Would give 10 stars if I could!

I cane to see Alex last year and was very nervous. Alex is amazing, after 10 minutes I was completely relaxed. I thought I had glaucoma but thankfully I didn’t. Alex is totally professional whilst at the same time a people’s person, putting one at ease as soon as you meet him. From consultation to operation my experience was fantastic. As a very nervous patient I was taken through every single element of the procedure and felt on every visit I was in the best hands possible I received lens replacement to both eyes but did have an issue with dry eyes (apparently this is common) When I contacted Optegra, it was no problem to see me the next day and in fact it was no problem to see me anytime whatever concern I had at any time. I have now got THE most brilliant eyesight - having worn glasses since I was 15, with myopia and also more recently needing to wear varifocals to be able to read too.
