E. S.This place takes the optician to a new level. It’s a level of attention to detail and customer service I didn’t even know existed when it came to glasses. They take so many factors into account when designing your lenses and choosing frames with you. Truly bespoke.
From a purely aesthetic point of view they have the most incredible selection of vintage and new frames. I got some Cazals, which I’ve always wanted and love them. Can’t imagine I’ll go anywhere else now.

A. B.I came across this store while browsing Brick Lane Market one day and asked if they had any round spectacles. I had been looking to recreate glasses from an image of my great grandfather on his wedding day.
They confirmed they had plenty of options and could probably find some very similar to what I was looking for.
I then booked an appointment to view the options, in which the staff were incredibly helpful and I was able to find the perfect pair of vintage 1930's glasses.
A couple of weeks later I picked up my glasses and I will certainly be going back and telling everyone I know to go there.

K. S.The most amazing eyewear shop and optician. Never before have i walked in a shop where the proprietors just SEE what kind of glasses will work for your face. After a great consultation I had three fantastic and utterly unique frames to choose from. And they even cut the lenses on site. The eyewear they sell is produced by independent manufacturers and thus more original than anything in the big chains. Cannot recommend highly enough. Wish I could buy more glasses next week.

They both create a very relaxing environment so it feels like you're hanging out with your friends the whole time. This place is basically the Ollivanders of specs - where the glasses choose you! (Via the medium of the encyclopedic knowledge and close attention to detail from the owner, instead of magic, although I wouldn't be surprised if he was actually a wizard too...)
You'll almost certainly end up with a beautiful set of frames that you wouldn't have found anywhere else.

After months of exhausting high street opticians for a pair of big 70s frames, it was really uplifting to find an opticians that knew exactly what i wanted, and had so many beautiful, one of a kind frames, i was spoilt for choice. Not to mention such lovely and welcoming people that were genuinely interested in me, the best opticians I've met. My glasses were able to be made to my prescription then and there super quickly which was amazing. I'm so so happy that i found this place and equally as happy with my my gorgeous new glasses!! :) (Also, the cherry on top - they have the cutest little french bulldog which you'll fall in love with)

I have recently bought a pair of cat eye glasses and I have to say it was hard to choose, because wherever you turn you see beautiful items and the shop in general it's so unique. Whatever taste you have, you can easily find something that you love and in many cases you would not see it anywhere else, especially for all the vintage frames. The owners are the best part though: super helpful, nice and expert and most of all very passionate for what they are doing. I would certainly go back!!
P. L.Love these people. Used them twice - once for vintage frames, once for an amazing German-made set of frames. Each time I went in with something in mind and came out with something completely different - I've never had anyone else ever who just looks at my face, my head shape, my style, and picks out something that I would never have thought of but which just looks so amazing. It's a real talent - and the stock they've got is exceptional, artisan frame-makers you won't find elsewhere, and an incredible collection of vintage frames, whether it's 50s or 80s or 00s hip hop. The quality of build on the final glasses is really, really high too, and the after-service was great, adjusting arms etc until I was 100% happy.
M. C.I've worn glasses for the entirety of my life and have never had as positive an experience with eyewear than with Specstacular. They took a great deal of time to earnestly figure out what looked great on me and what fit with my personality. Their range of glasses is also astounding, leaning more towards pieces of art than utilitarian objects to help you see.
Their frames are the first I'd rather be seen with glasses than without, I no longer put on glasses begrudgingly.

It's full of beautiful and quirky, vintage and new frames in all shapes and sizes and the couple who run it are knowledgable, patient and fun.
After a warm welcome and an eye test downstairs, I came back upstairs to find a selection of glasses laid out that they thought would suit me. Their suggestions turned out to be absolutely right.
After lots of faffing, trying on frames in other shops, I came back and bought the pair they'd first suggested. And I get a compliment almost every day about them! :-)
It was the first time I'd ever had glasses so I felt nervous, and wearing something over my eyes felt odd. They were incredibly patient, kind and made what could have been a really daunting experience really fun!

K. R.Glowing reviews sometimes seem a bit too good to be true, but this one is the best way I can describe an exceptional two people with an extraordinary business. This is not a shop to merely pop into, if it's done properly you'll be there for ages. Hala primarily looks after your eyes, extremely well, (and, with her own amazing selection of specs, is a great inspiration for how to be a bit, or a lot, more interesting with your specs choice) and Keval, if you let him, will somehow find you a perfect, if unexpected, pair of glasses to suit you, even if at first they look like a definite "no way". I now don't even go there with a style in mind because I know they will find glasses that suit me, and I am usually not the kind of person to let someone else take full charge of an image-altering kind of purchase. There are A LOT more glasses than just those on display, vintage, quirky, modern, designer, handmade ... they also use a variety of lens suppliers that no other optical shop has ever been able to offer me (slightly mirrored oil-effect lenses, purple transitions, mirrored blue - if you have an idea of what you'd like, ask; Keval will find you something). I have always had a selection of glasses on the go, seeing them as accessories rather than just eyesight correctors. I have bought a lot of glasses over the years and have paid very little and a lot. Specstacular really do have a huge price range but they are good at offering a selection and ways to compromise if you can't quite afford your dream vintage designer frames and unconventional lenses. Now that I've discovered them, I have never been to, nor would, another optical shop/optician. For the environment, the selection, the knowledge and the very much personal service, that alone should have a premium. It doesn't. They are realistically priced and I have never felt ripped off or even over-charged.
Don't be offended if they don't open the door to you, there are only two of them, the owners, and they will only allow as many people in as they can attend to. Even if, on rare occasions, they tell you to "come back in 20 minutes", don't take it personally, you'll get an amazing service in 20 minutes and realise why you had to wait. I have "sent" friends and colleagues of mine (based on their "wow, where did you get your glasses from?") to Specstacular and not once has anyone not come out A with fab glasses or B with anything negative to say. It is without doubt my favourite place to spend time when it comes to shopping (and looking after my eye health). Thank you, Hala and Keval, for years of great service and a friendly, ever so slightly magical environment. I will see you again soon when the need for "glasses to wear when you have a cold or sunburn" arises!!!
I have just seen some clearly malicious and inaccurate reviews of Specstacular and, as a customer of Specstacular (unlike what appears to be one "reviewer" with a series of fake accounts) for the past six or so years, now seemed a good time to finally write a review.

The team take time to listen and understand what you want and then deliver above and beyond. Be ready for (pleasant) surprises from their unique selection of frames and a great attention to detail in the fitting process.
K. B.Absolutely awesome! Quality eye test first at a great price and then these guys created the most amazing pair of bespoke glasses. I have a 'larger-than-average' face/head so glasses often look small on my face. They beautifully increased the proportions to keep the style I like but have them fit me much, much better. The smokey tortoiseshell-like material I picked looks absolutely awesome and I haven't stopped getting compliments on them since I got them. I'll be back soon to get some bespoke prescription sunnies- for sure!

Besides the friendly and professional service (they do the whole shabang - tests, high quality lens cutting etc.) they have an amazing collection of mostly vintage (and all very cool) frames. It's truly an experience choosing specs here (although let's face it - they choose you!), we had herbal tea to drink while I browsed and exquisite coffee and a deep leather armchair for the friend I'd dragged along as advisor. Beautiful quality glasses - I'll be going back for many years to come.

They stock a huge range of vintage through to seriously cool, contemporary frames. At 40 Cheshire Street, near the top end of Brick Lane, is the hippest, the most groovy, simply the best eyewear store ever!
At Specstacular you can choose from a stunning range of vintage frames that go from the 1900s to the 1980s – a collection of hundreds of glasses and sunglasses that have been assembled lovingly over many years with obvious diligence.
Hala and Keval are tremendously welcoming, friendly, and patient. Perhaps even more importantly, they’re thoughtful. And can be trusted 100%! Keval is spectacularly professional, sincere, and has a delightfully spry humour too! He spent almost two hours with me. He listened. He asked questions. Then he began selecting frames, and encouraged me to try on this pair, and then that pair. And then another pair and then another. This wasn’t a random exercise, though, because Keval is diligent, he’s discerning, he’s got a good eye. Each time we refined the parameters, honing in on exactly what worked for me, what looked good on me, what’s right for me.
That’s uncommon customer care, and I’m totally chuffed with my glasses. Both pairs!
Part cabinet of curiosity, part opticians, part design studio, Specstacular is The Ultimate Classy Eyewear Experience, and I absolutely recommend it to you.
O. J.Without a shadow of a doubt, the best glasses shop I've ever been to. A massive, massive range of glasses - tonnes of new styles from some of the best well-known brands (Persol, Oliver Peoples etc.) but an even greater range of really really good quality lesser known brands. What's more, it's pretty much a museum of vintage designs that are all for sale. So many wonderful choices. Set aside a good bit of time and browse the endless options.
Keval, the proprietor is so enthusiastic and knowledgeable, it's infectious. He can pick out styles to suit in no time at all and always has tonnes of ideas. He made a pair up specific to my prescription in no time at all.

New, vintage, quirky, classy, downright crazy - I dare you not to find something here that looks better on you than any other pair of glasses you've worn. I'm almost scared to look in all the display cases in case I see more pieces that I want to buy. I've gone from being a begrudging glasses wearer (ie buy the least offensive pair and put up with it because they help me see) to being a proud glasses wearer - I adore my specs, and have had so many compliments. You'll never feel the same way about eyewear again!

J. H.I simply can’t recommend this place enough, if ever there was a reason for Google to add another star to the ratings, the service we got from Keval and Hala @ Specstacular proves, one might say, demands it.
The Mrs was recently told she needed glasses for reading, quite a traumatic moment in a girl’s life for a number of reasons. (Guy’s don’t make passes…etc). So I knew it was going to take something, or somewhere, special to help get her head around the situation.
The moment we walked into the shop it was obvious this was the perfect place. Keva and Hella are so effortlessly cool they COULD have been a little intimidating yet we could not have been made more welcome or made to feel more at ease. Rather than feeling like we were an inconvenience (something we had experienced elsewhere, too may times to be funny) the time, care and attention we received was a welcome breath of fresh air. Not really knowing what style we were looking for, we asked Hala to pick out shapes that best suited The Mrs face and personal style. Hala’s suggestions were spot on. The only problem was which of the shortlisted options to choose. In this, Keval’s input was invaluable (my opinions and suggestions disregarded the moment we walked in) technical appraisals and the benefits of each were discussed and an outright winner was chosen. That the Mrs was heard to say ‘I love them’ when I had to almost drag her to the shop in the first place, is testament to the warmth of the welcome, the quality of the goods and excellence of the service. They really care.
As a side note, I’d been to Cu*er and gr*s the week before to get some glasses for myself, spent a similar amount of cash and thought the frames I chose and the service I got was great. Now that I have something to compare that experience with, I am now racked with buyer’s remorse and am absolutely kicking myself that I didn’t come here first. That Keval handed me the perfect pair at his first attempt really rubbed it in (Thanks a bunch mate !) If I could find a reasonable way of cancelling the order, believe me I would.
Don't make the same mistake as me, if you want spec's that make you look much cooler than you are, sold by people who are sooo much, cooler than you are (but don't make you feel it ) then specstacular is the place for you.
