Reviews of Essex Wildlife Trust Abberton Reservoir Nature Discovery Park
V. N.
Nice place for a walk. It's a shame that the small road by the lake around the reservoir is closed. Would be a perfect bike ride. There are footpaths around, but overgrown. Park inside is very looked after, and have some nice walks, kids playground around. Cafe is also very nice inside. But for cream tea didn't get clotted cream, just some whipped cream. You can take dogs in a cafe if you walking past, but not into reservoir.
R. B.
Lovely morning spent following the Brambly Hedge trail. My daughter was so excited to find all the characters. We also took the longer route round & enjoyed spending some time in the hides watching the birds. We finished off with a play in the park & a some refreshments in the cafe. Will definitely be returning as the seasons change.
O. F.
Lovely spot, free to enter but is reccomended to provide a small donation. Plenty of trails to follow and experience a lovely part of the Essex countryside.
A children's play area, bird watching huts and also a cafe for a lovely little pit stop.
Highly reccomended for families or elderly couples for a weekend retreat away from hustle and bustle
A.
It's a lovely place to visit to forget the city hustle and bustle. The bird hides are well situated to observe the water fowls. The walking paths was well maintained, sign posted and beautiful. A lovely stress free day in a beautiful setting.
R. T.
Great place for easy walks around the reservoir, play area for kids, bird hides and nature related activities. Lovely cafe inside with a good selection of cakes and other goodies.

Abberton Reservoir reserve is such a beautiful setting. Peaceful and a great place to see nature at it's best. Highly recommended especially on such hot sunny day. 🔥🌞

I went to Abberton Reservoir Visitor Centre a couple of days ago, and really enjoyed my visit!
Birdwatching was something I've not done before, and found it really interesting to learn about different types of birds whilst using my binoculars to identify them.
The cafe was really busy, but was fortunate to sit outside and admire the scenery before it began to rain. I was pleased with my purchases from the gift shop, and especially with the selection of Tiptree products!

My 5 year old grandson, having found his favourite mint choc chip ice cream in the cafe’s freezer, declared that he had had the best day EVER. His little sister, 21 months, agreed. She had thoroughly enjoyed the zip wire with help from her parents. Both children loved the Brambly Hedge trail (once we had found it - it needs better signage) and were fascinated by the wild flowers and huge variety of insects we encountered (and the huge spider in the well!). I had to agree with my grandson. I have severe mobility issues. I borrowed the centre’s mobility scooter and had one of the best afternoons ever!! It is many years since I have been able to experience the joy of the scent of summer meadows, insects humming happily amongst swathes of wild flowers, butterflies sunning themselves on fence posts and the cries of birds swooping overhead. It was absolutely magical. The paths are perfect for mobility scooters and wheelchairs - no issues at all. The scooter is easy to use. I thoroughly recommend it.
The staff in the centre are superb. Friendly, kind and extremely helpful.
Thank you for a simply wonderful day. It could not have been better.
C. A.
I visited for the first time but will definitely return.
I was hoping for a longer walk around the reserve but it's not very big, although it is pleasant to wander around.
Any birdwatchers will be delighted at the number of species that they might spot.
H. B.
Just on the outskirts of Colchester, beautiful place to visit and enjoy nature. The grandchildren love the play area and the Bramley Hedge walk.
G. P.
Glorious views, hides for birdwatching, wee playground for children, picnic area, great walks with lots of blackberries to pick when we were there. Good shop and cafe too. Great to see so much careful tree planting and land management for diversity too.
J. C.
Beautiful place and lovely gift shop but cafe very disappointing. Very little on offer, at 2.30pm, nothing homemade, not a whiff of lettuce accompaniment to go with our prewrapped sandwich and very expensive. Only 3 thin slices of dried looking cake on offer, though they put out brand new cakes for the next day just as we were leaving!
Younger girl was helpful but busy, older lady brusque and obsessed with sweeping around tables while we were eating, leaving customers waiting at the counter, then said we'd have to wait while she finished her text message!
Nice tea.
W. T.
Free parking. Great visitor centre. 4 bird hides that are a good size that you can socially distance in. Great circulator walk around the park. Good play area for children.
N. B.
It's a lovely place to go, magnificent views and great access to watching wildlife. The shop is well stocked and the cafe is good.
A. C.
This isn't a massive place to visit, but on a nice day it is certainly nice.
Visitor centre has toilets, shop and cafe and outside is a kids play ground a couple of short walks and a few hides. We managedvto spend about 1.5 hrs there, bring a picnic and you could prob do longer.
R. B.
Great place to visit, beautiful views over the reservoir. Will definitely visit again, sit and drink coffee while admiring the view.
N. C.
Great for a quick visit on a sunny day. Play park for children looks excellent. No dogs policy is a good thing (my son does not like dogs). Not a bird watcher myself but I'm sure it's an ideal spot.
D. H.
Great for kids and adults alike. Lots of flowers, birds and paths to explore. Hides for watching birds are very peaceful. Cafe is well stocked and friendly. Lots of easy parking and good disabled access.
J. H.
Very helpful and friendly staff, gorgeous views and walks, great play park. Lots of bird watchers so it must be a great place for it too. So glad we found this place. Can't wait to explore some more.
T. R. G.
Very enjoyable afternoon in the essex countryside. There's plenty if wildlife to see, some very good bird watching areas, a kids play area, lovely cafe with superb views, and long pathways for relaxing walks.
K. G.
Great staff, nice cafe and shop with beautiful views over the water and good walks to view the wildlife.
K. S.
What a beautiful place. There is lots to do. You can take a walk on one of the paths. Do some bird watching and in the summer the butterflies are quite amazing.
The visitor centre is spacious with a lovely tea room overlooking the reservoir. The toilets are clean and tasteful.
There is free car parking with disabled bays close to the entrance. I also found the staff to be friendly and helpful.
j. h.
We t here today for the 1st time with my missus and our little boy Reggie lovly weather lovely scenery and my son loved finding all the different characters think took about an hour to go around, but we all enjoyed it
N. A.
We took 120 children for a school trip and they absolutely loved the experience. There was bug catching, pond dipping, an adventure play area, eating area, adventure trail to find wooden mice and bird watching. There is also a cafe and shop. Would definitely go again.
W. C.

D. H.
Nice walks, beautiful scenery, the play area for kids is really nice too.
The cafe had a good selection including ice cold drinks, ice cream, sandwiches etc.

Nice day visit taking in the country air and enjoying the views. Great bird hides to watch from (something I'd never thought I'd been interested in before)

Owned by the Essex Wildlife Trust the Abberton Reservoir Nature Discovery Park is the ideal place to get close to nature and enjoy some family time.
The site offers free parking and free entry to visiting guests. There is the Bramley Hedge children's character trail where children can look for wooden sculptures around the reserve. Maps can be purchased from the visitor centre for just £1 each. There are various walking routes around the reserve and reservoir as well as birdhides for those bird enthusiasts.
The site offers a picnic area as well as outside play area with a great selection of wooden play equipment including climbing frame, swings, spiders web, totem pole and zip line to name just a few.
Inside the visitor centre itself there is a shop, toilets, baby changing facilities and a cafe which sells a selection of refreshments. A great place to visit for nature lovers
J. O.
There is so much to see here and you can roam the nature reserve or complete the Brambly Hedge trail with children. They love running from mouse to mouse (wooden statues) and playing on the apparatus in the play area - the zip wire is a great hit. We already booked two birthday parties for our daughter and the range of activities for children is wonderful. We had lots of fun in the past toasting marshmallows and doing pond dipping. The cafe inside is coat and homely. Always worth a visit! Special pre-bookable activities during half term are also available.
A. D.
Right so the center itself is easy 5/5, coffee is really nice and cakes are marvelous, the walk is really beautiful too but the amount of bugs there is simply ridiculous! Around water there is always a lot of bugs, but here you can't open your mouth without swallowing a handful. It's so bad that you will be covered, I swear I'm not exaggerating here, head to toe with them within ten minutes.
M. W.
We visited the open day here, it was such a lovely day out, perfect for the whole family. From live entertainment to craft stalls and a bbq. There are great views across to Abberton and easy walks to take. The centre also has a cafe you can drop in to for a bite to eat and not pay an entry fee if only visiting for refreshments.
h. c.
Still a work in progress but various walks to hides and around the reserve, plus play areas for children. There is a cafe, shop and loos in the Main building. Large car park on site
I. M.
A peaceful place. Free car park although the visitor centre requests a donation
There's a cafe and toilets inside the vistor centre.
D. g.

What a spectacular place to visit for a great day out with your family. A lovely walk, great visitor centre with a cafe and facilities and a great fun children’s play park. You can’t go wrong here
E. D.
A warm welcome on a beautiful afternoon.
Enjoyed a lovely walk around the reserve, very relaxing.
R. B.
Lovely place however falling short of running as cafe. Little gold mine opertunity. An unknown gem for walks being outdoors.
P. P.
Our young children love it here, excellent walks, lovely cafe and also a park to play in but more suited for the older children.
D. P.
Abberton is a great place to watch wildlife. Every so often they get a rarity. The visitors centre also does very good food at reasonable prices.
D. H.
Great place to visit if your into wildlife or if you just want a stroll, great visitor centre
G. M.
So peaceful this morning. Really interested to see the work that has been carried out over the past few years. Great selection of habitats that are usefully signposted and explained. Very educational. Looked like a good play area for little ones too. Free parking and a lovely shop.
J. T.
Loved this place and had some great cake and coffee. A good exhibition on the trusts work plus there was a well stocked gift shop, a great little cafe and super clean loos. Well worth a visit.
M. E.
A well designed visitor centre in the ideal location over looking the reservoir.
J. C.
Stunning. Beautiful to walk around. I was there this week (mid June), and there were Spoonbills nesting for the first time in many years. Cafe/gift shop is pretty good too.
L. W.
Very peaceful. Good choice of walk lenghts.
E. B.

S. N.
Beautiful place. Very peaceful. Really helpful and happy staff at the visitor centre.
A. A.
What a gorgeous place. Beutiful so welcoming, nice cafe shop. Well worth a visit
J. F.
We visited by accident and we were impressed by the visitor centre. The staff were second to none and the service and food we received was excellent.
The site itself is in its early stages. The hides we visited were good and the presents of bench seating was very welcome. Next step would recommend webcam viewing from hides to be seen on the Internet and on screens in the centre this would encourage more visitors. We'll done so far.
P. K.
Great place to visit for a spot of birdwatching. Very helpful and knowledgeable visitors who are happy to help those around with less experience. Circular walk well signposted and mostly on the level great for those of us that are a little unsteady. Visitors centre with clean toilets and a nice cafe selling snacks an great coffee. Well worth a visit.
c. C.
Excellent if you're a wild life watcher
( Birds dragon flies etc)
I'm not so found it a little disappointing but hey ho😉
H. M.
Good walk and snacks. Safe to sit inside visitor centre. Lots of birdsong. Little ringed plover on edge of water.
T. W.
Fantastic play park for the youngsters. Free parking and a voluntary entrance fee makes for a cost effective day out. The coffee and cake shop in the visitor center is great too. There are also plenty of walks to do if you want a bit more activity. Right beside the play park is a large picnic area with tables and shade. We often bring picnics to chill out with our new born while the older kids play. Most of the picnic benches are wheelchair accessible too with extended ends.
D.
Love coming here. Nice relaxing walks. Plenty of wildlife to look at.
c. t.
Lovley place to take the family for a picnic sore all sorts of wildlife while we was there.
M. B.
Lovely little place to visit.
Coffee shop could do with some improvement, by adding fresh food choices.
D. D.
Absolutely 💯 the people that work there 👏 👍 friendly helpful with every question that we asked was answered with a smile. Chocolate cake delicious. The hide lovely and clean. We bought a years subscription well worth the money. Thank you
L.
One of my favourite places. Peaceful, calm great wildlife. The centre is wonderful. Good food and cakes and teas!!
J. H.
Great place for a light lunch while watching wildlife from the warm cafe. Food is reasonable for the price considering it is a charity staffed by volunteers.
S. C.
Lovely young nature, great for families. Very interactive. Enjoyed it a lot (even without kids).
M. B.
Get here early if you want a quiet walk with no loud people disturbing the birds or a busy coffee shop. Stunning views, something for the kids and nice paths. Staff welcoming and friendly.
P. T.
Relaxing place for a short walk around the reserve, with the gentle sound of birdsong in the background. A few good bird hide locations to look out over the water and look for some of their more elusive visitors.
A.
Very nice place to visit, a peaceful break from a mad world. Great for bird watching, and they have a nice tea room overlooking the reservoir. If you have children they have a good playground and also they have work pack's that children can use to spot bird's.
P. B.
Lovely place to go and relax nice staff and nice coffee will be one of my regular places to go.
N. B.
Lovely place to spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of life.
The centre is clean and welcoming. Staff polite and the reservoir and grounds are lovely to take in.
A. P.
Super place to visit on a warm summer day - teeming with wildlife and a great viewpoint over the reservoir from the cafe at the visitor centre.
M. S.
A nice way to spend a few hours in nature. Glad to see it back open. Well adjusted for current circumstances.
R. T.
Great play area for kids to explore, the mouse trail is great fun too, the gift shop is packed with eco friendly goodies from the mersea mud shack, along with bird feeders, kids toys and lots of other wonderful treats. The cafe is definitely worth visiting too, with beautiful views, well socially distanced even at the weekends and lots of yummy treats.
J. O.
A lovely place to visit. Nice tea room and a good few paths to take. Always a popular destination for me and my girls
d. w.
Didn't get to walk round the other day just visited The Visitor Centre. They have some nice gifts and it was good to see The Cafe open and people enjoying a cuppa and the Lovely view!
Lovely tranquil place to be!
G. B.
A peaceful and well maintained Trust site. Staff are very friendly and polite. The shop had some lovely gifts and serves (pre-wrapped) snacks and drinks.
The play park for children has some great touches. The hides for viewing birds are spacious. Parking is free!
Recommended.
S. D.
A fantastic place to visit all year round. Several hides for the bird watchers - but so much more! Every aspect of local wildlife is here for those who wish to find it. EWT membership is inexpensive and great value.
W. S.
Always a wonderful & peaceful place to visit whether by car or bicycle.
J. B.
Beautiful place well set out lovley tea rooms and yummy scones good value looking forward to bringing kids over in the holidays nice spacious car park.
S. G.
Very busy here today but lovely volunteers only to happy to help with and query. The cafe is great with cakes and snacks and great views of the reservoir to watch the various birds through the panoramic windows. If bringing young children a really good adventure playground and also of course lots of walking on the well maintained footpaths. Excellent all round
S. H.
Good centre. Decent cup of coffee. Good walks around the reservoir. Bird life a bit sparse but quiet time of year although 2 great white egrets worth seeing.
K. B.
Lovely walk and lots of wildlife around the reservoir.
H. D.
Great place go go and relax or just see the wildlife pr picnic .
R. H.
Lovely reserve on the banks of the reservoir. There are wildflower meadows which are looking really good at the moment. The wooded section is relatively young trees so it's mixed vegetation. There are several hides that look out over the reservoir. Plenty of geese, wildfowl and terns around at the moment. Visitor centre has a well stocked shop and cafe. The outside deck of the cafe overlooks a pond with the reservoir behind. A beautiful spot. Well worth a visit.
S. J.
Beautiful place for bird watching and photography. Playground and cafe on site.
N. F.
Marvellous place. Reasonable food. Spoonbills nearby, apparently (only just recommenced bird watching.) Fellow viewer showed me where they were but so far away that I could make out no detail. A good cluster of watchers must have had better kit. 600mm lens not enough. Save up for a doubler!
M. H.
Beautiful place! Highly recommended
J. K. K.
A wonder place to see mature at its best.
Lovely shop and cakes are nice too!
P. F.
Fabulous selection of wildlife. Superb tea rooms.
L. G.
A beautiful tranquil location to amble around. Loads of insects and birds to view in their natural habitat. Very well maintained and managed with a lovely cafe. Good place for children.
D. W.
What a great wildlife trust place sorta thing innit? When you go to Essex, what do you want? That's right, BIRDS! (and wildlife). Well done Essex. I rate this place quite highly. I'll be back I'm sure.
C. D.
Beautiful views. Calm and teanquil. Lovely cafe, suitable for the less able.
P. S.
Lovely, peaceful place. Good park for the kids and nice cafe. Good place for relaxing walk
R. J.
Beautiful place for a walk. We visited with 2 children and did the brambly hedge trail which they loved. There is also a really good park to keep them amused.
M. S.
We decided to go for breakfast and see what the visitors centre was like, on arrival we were impressed with the parking and the visitors centre itself, the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was reasonably priced and enjoyable. The views from the centre while enjoying your food were fantastic. We look a walk down to one of the observation hides which was well maintained giving good views of the waterfowl. Note to self, take binoculars which would make the experience much better. I give this 5 Stars.
N. R.
Had a lovely afternoon walking round the reserve, however was disappointed to find that the lovely cafe that used to serve home made food has turned into a reheat pre packaged goods venue .. very disappointing as the food was a big draw
M. M.
Great place to look at the brilliant wildlife. Highly recommend for peace and quiet!
G. H.
As usual a lovely place to visit. Was disappointed that the cafe was not serving bacon sandwiches. Perhaps when things will get back to some sort of normality soon. We'll done to all you volunteers and staff
Z. O.
Peaceful, quiet, rustic and lovely comes to mind. Better suited for those who like to trek and bird watchers. Huge grounds and amazing higher ground views. They have a half decent cafe at the visitors center and overall it is non expensive, nature loving family activity.
B. C.
Great centre for habitat management and lovely cafe.
S. N.
Lovely place to walk and observe the water birds
T. W.
Nice place to end up after a bike ride for a coffee
A. B.
A brilliant place to visit, if you're a nature lover, if you want to learn about nature, or if you just want to have a short walk with fantastic views. Oh, and you can have a nice cup of tea or coffee with cake. There's also a play area to entertain our younger nature lovers.
R. H.
Great hides to view the wildlife. also has a good, well stocked shop and tea room. Volunteers and staff are always friendly and knowledgeable
usually busy on a good day
free parking but a small admission donation is recommended
R. S.
Excellent location, lovely coffee shop and a great variety of interesting goods for sale
S. S.
Nice views across the water. Good visitors centre with toilets, cafe, kiddy play area etc. Closes at 5pm which is quite early on a sunny evening however you can park on the bridge over the reservoir just outside.
G. H.
Free parking. A good child's play area. Great views and walks around the reservoir. The visitor centre has a shop and cafe with panoramic views across the reservoir with outdoor decking seating available. Good spot to let children burn off some steam and have a coffee/cake/lunch.
A.
I love this place! Very nice facilities and tea shop. Completely wheelchair/pushchair accessible (even the trails!). Lots of great water birds to see from the hides and informational boards for those who need help with bird identification. Lots of great events on, too!
M. E.
Wanted a day out with our 6 year old daughter, but not the usual seaside or zoo. This place is great for younger children, first we did the brambly hedge trail ,walking round a trail to find the brambly mice, map costs a £1 but goes towards the wildlife trust. Then the play area then lunch, very nice, then back to the play area and another little walk before heading home. Also lots of lovely places to have a picnic and bird watching . The great thing is it's free to enter but a small donation is very much appreciated.
K. M.
Views were beautiful! Never been to a nature reserve quite like it! Spent a good 4 hours here. The gift shop is very expensive but everything looked great quality. Didn't try the food there, just had ice creams but the food I did see looked nice. I would definetlu come again.
C. G.
I'm here regularly with the family throughout the year, whether it's for tea and cake, the playground or a kids birthday party. The staff here are always friendly and there's loads to do for young & old alike.
Plus it's a beautiful area which is well worth a visit!
R. “. C.
Fantastic wildlife walks and plenty of hides close to the waterfowl which are excellently positioned for great views of the waterfowl. Once inside, each hide has latched shutters which can be opened up to sit and view. Each window has a bench to sit on and a window ledge for help steadying cameras with large lenses or binoculars.
There is a safe and imaginative play area for children, and they regularly entertain local schools during the week, term time. The visitors centre has a wide range of gifts and handcrafted items, there is is also a very good range of optical viewing equipment such as powerful binoculars and telescopes. Refreshments are available from a coffee shop and staff always helpful and friendly.
P. G.
Perfect if you are looking for place to have a walk followed by cuppa with home made food and cakes. Ideal for kids as there is nice playground with rope bridge and zip wire. Beautiful surroundings and bird watching spots across the land. There are some picnic spots too.
Entry is free, but there is suggested donation of £3 (or about that much). Free parking, toilets (for disabled and for parents with babies). All is clean and well maintained.
If you live close by there are some frequent events organised.
C. C.
Great views of the reservoir and wildlife from Windows of skylark tea room. On a chilly and damp winter day it is most enjoyable to sit at the Windows with a hot choc and bacon sandwich and enjoy the nature reserve. Nice food, lovely staff , mostly volunteers, and a pleasant shop .
B. S.
Enjoy going here with my 6 year old. Pleasant visitors centre with nice food, coffee and view. Park for the kids and really easy to get them excited about nature when you're surrounded by it. Avoid the gluten free chocolate cake though.
C. d. L.
Lovely spot. Peacefully surrounded by mother nature's wide variety of birds, trees, water, sky etc.! Pretty much unspoiled by humans. The delightful gift and coffee shop will certainly please you. If I didn't live across the pond......I definitely would be a "regular"!
C. P.
Lovely and peaceful place to visit and we can highly recommend it.
D. M.
Wide opens spaces with lots of wildfowl and other birds to see.
D. C.
Something for the kids, with a good playground, very scenic, nice bit of fresh air and lovely walks. Cant fault it really.
C. M.
This is starting to become a regular spot for me and my motorcycle buddies. We enjoy the tea room and being able to look out over the reservoir. Parking is easy both at the visitors centre and beside the road running down the reservoir. Worth a visit, especially if you like long smooth roads for biking. I've not been around the nature parts though or done any bird spotting.
T. W.
Amazing place, we were lucky enough to catch a fayre but would have loved the day anyway
S. R.
3rd or 4th visit. Visitor centre staff always pleasant and helpful. Lovely scenic view from the cafe. I think if you've got a scope then you can get a good view of the birds from the hides, but if only binoculars then you can't get as good of a view as generally the birds can be further away than other reserves we've visited.
S. W.
Great spot for birdwatching or having coffee or lunch.
D. C.
Path closed off going clockwise. Otherwise would have given 5 stars.
The place is huge.
Make sure you have a good zoom lens for your camera, it's gonna be needed.
Hides are reopening on the 17th May I believe.
I'll be back with the famy
K. P.
Nice café, decent loos, awesome picnic area and the playarea was "grown-up" enough to keep a couple of 10 and 12 year old kids entertained for 15minutes.
Also loved how the window seats in the café had binoculars and bird spotting books....a neat touch.
R. J.
Great visitor centre with excellent views over the reservoir. There is a lovely veranda if the weather is good. Tea, coffee, cakes and snacks available. Well worth a visit.
K. G.
Tea cake and wonderful Views! What more can you ask?
P. A.
Lovely first visit to Abberton Reservoir. We enjoyed a delicious light lunch in the cafe - bacon roll, sausage roll, Cornish pasty and jacket potato...all very good! Couldn't walk away from the cakes! Equally delicious! Then an enchanting walk along the Brambly Hedge Trail, further exploring of the Reserve and great fun playing in the beautifully thought out play area! Great day out and met some lovely staff/volunteers. Even saw my first newt of the year! We hope to return! Thank you!😊
R. A.
It was so peaceful and serene. My family and I loved coming and can't wait to visit again. The playground was great for my 18 month year old. The cafe was ok and the staff were very friendly. Everything was clean and the ice cream was nice.
L. R.
Best 2h with my child for very long time
M. W.
Fabulous place for birds & wild flowers also insects. Very impressed with the continuation of covid protection especially in the cafe. Well done all.
V. M.
A small area is accessible to the public. It is well laid out with winding trails through young woodland and waterside meadow. The visitor centre includes a shop and cafe with a terrace overlooking a pond and the reservoir beyond.
k. G.
Big reservoir near colchester. Can go once in a while just to relax. Nothing great although. Just another reservoir. The road to reservoir is bumpy and people speed here quiet a lot so need to be careful. There is a walking track as well. There is parking on the spot as well..
n. s.
Lovely beautiful place ideal for picnics children bird watching bug hunting nature spotting free car park only donation entry so don't need to pay gift shop and a lovely trail for children to find characters £1 for the map .
Can be a cheap day out or expensive if you buy from shop .
Worth a visit though
M. L.
Lovely walks and an excellent restaurant with views over the reservoir. Such a tranquil site....
M. F.
Visited with my 9year old to attend a star gazing evening run by North Essex Astronomical Society. The evening consisted of three talks, planets, meteorites and moons punctuated by going out to look at the night sky.
Unfortunately the weather meant we only saw the moon through two telescopes they had setup, prior to the first talk, but even that was impressive.
The talks were presented by very enthusiastic members of their society. Children were involved in answering and asking questions which the presenters answered. The video presentation was excellent and helped to visualise what they were talking about.
During the meteorites talk they passed around some fragments and included video of the meteorite filmed in Chelyabinsk in 2013.
Despite my youngest being very tired when we left at 9:30pm, he managed to talk about it for the whole of our half hour journey home!
The Essex Wildlife trust sold hot and cold drinks and very tasty cake throughout the evening.
I highly recommend attending this event. We will definitely be visiting again.
R.
An excellent place to see ducks and waders. Little, great and cattle egrets present at the moment. Visitor Centre cafe is well worth a visit. All round, a very good nature reserve.
W. N.
Lovely place and great views. Also worth having a drink or a bite in their café since there's no entry fee. Very reasonable prices and it supports the reserve, so much better than giving your money to a big chain.
P. M.
