If looking for a funeral directors service I cannot recommend Hugh Gooding Funeral Services highly enough. When my mother PASSED they were there from the very beginning. Xina and Peter were extremely helpful and assisted us through the process, nothing was too much to ask of them and they saw us through a very difficult period of time. My brother died in difficult circumstances due to mental health problems. Gooding were respectful, non judgmental and caring throughout the entire process. I decided to use this company because of all the positive reviews and feedback that I'd heard about them and I wasn't disappointed. From the very beginning everyone, but especially Peter, was fabulous - kind, courteous, accommodating and understanding and no matter what I asked of them or how many times I changed plans or emailed them overnight with suggestions and alterations, they never once let me down. The other wonderful point about them is that they have so many affordable packages so that even if you're struggling with your budget, they will do their best to find a way to help you. There are no other funeral homes in Leeds that will do that and that's part of what makes Gooding so special. If I have the misfortune of having to plan another funeral, without any hesitation whatsoever I would go straight back to them. If you want professionalism and perfection, you'll find it at Gooding. Xina, Peter & Gay are there for you from the time they're called to after the funeral. they provide a professional, compassionate and sensitive service, specifically tailored to the needs to each family individually. This is the type of review one wishes one would never have to write...however...Having laid my dear sister, Shirls to rest, just over two years ago, there was never any doubt that our family would use the services of Hugh Gooding Funeral Services. The special touches and highly professional, warm reception from initial approach, right through all of the tough and emotional decisions which have to be made to accommodate various wishes and desires in a fairly large family during funeral arrangements, was trusted to the extremely capable, helping hands of Hugh Gooding Funeral Services. Both during the church service, to the burial and the celebration of life ceremony which followed, the totally dedicated team really helped our family to get through what is often described by the people of Leeds and further afield as the funeral with the biggest attendance ever seen. Not only did this wonderful team of professionals manage this massive capacity of people and all the extras we thought would be fitting for my sister, with calmness and aplomb, still they took time throughout the day to check how we were doing as a family. I like to believe my beloved sister was looking down, with her usual beatific smile, saying "Yes, family - just how I wanted it". Can never thank the team enough for making our saddest day so beautifully memorable.

Without a doubt when I my grandma passed away it was the painful moment I'd ever experienced. When Xina, Gay and Peter from Hugh Gooding Funeral Services contacted all family members individually to pay their respects I knew she was in the right hands for her final days here with us! BEAUTIFULLY DONE, WITH SUCH COMPASSION, SENSITIVITY & KINDNESS.... Peter and his lovely family and fellow staff were absolutely wonderful from the very start. Even before I lost my beloved husband, Peter was there to advise me and was so compassionate and patient towards me when my head was in a spin and I was having to deal with the heartbreak of watching my husband's life ebbing away. I am so glad I came to Goodings. I couldn't have wished for a better Celebration of Life funeral and Peter and family are the experts. We had the wonderful white horses and hearse, a fantastic jazz band, which lifted everyone's hearts, and which my hubby would have loved. I came away from his funeral yesterday feeling such a void at his loss, but also with such a warm and happy feeling in my heart, because my dear husband had the funeral he wanted, directed by the best, and it was a beautiful, sensitively done, but uplifting occasion. Thank you Peter, Xina, Josh, Ashley, Sanjay, Maggie, Jane, our wonderful Humanist Celebrant, and apologies if I have missed anyone on here. Obviously, I will never forget my husband's funeral, but will not look back on it with sadness, but with joy that his life was commemorated in such a fitting and perfect way, and which mirrored all that he loved in this world, arranged by the very best in the business.

No doubt a 5* service. Top marks are given because they are lovely people to work with, are great communicators, are compassionate and patient, all whilst offering great guidance and advice. We were surprised by and loved Gooding's use of the traditional paging. We did not know what this was called, but now know it's where the director walks in front of the cortège for a distance and then stops and bows to the coffin in a gesture of respect before getting into the hearse. A really love touch. Thanks guys, you played a big part in making my mum's farewell a fantastic occasion :)

When my Mum was diagnosed with cancer she went to HGFS to plan her funeral. My Mum wanted to make it as painless as possible all round under the circumstances. Xina went above and beyond professionally to make sure my Mum was fully informed of all available options. As much as it's not something any of us want to, it was made so much easier by the compassion, professionalism and empathy all the members of staff showed towards her. When it did come to the time we ultimately needed to use them, they were amazing. Answered very honestly all my questions (of which there were a lot) and just made a very sad circumstance that little bit easier to manage. Everything was in place and they did my Mum and us all very proud. It's a difficult decision to make when choosing a funeral company for your loved one, but I am so glad Mum chose HGFS. They also provided a lot of advice and aftercare, which was most helpful. For me, they helped me celebrate my Mum's life, rather than just focussing on my loss. This has helped immensely with my grief. So please consider taking out a funeral plan with them too, to alleviate what can be a big cost on top of everything else you may have to deal with.

I can honestly say that I had a very sad situation of burying my grandmother, made easier to deal with the support and guidance of all those at the Hugh Gooding Funeral Services. Due to their kindness, respect and transparency I then advised a family member to get information about a Pre-Paid Funeral Plan. My relative said that she was made to feel at ease, and has since paid for her funeral in full as she wanted to prepare for the future. Death unfortunately is inevitable and very distressing, since burying my grandmother I've realised that we can make these situations a little easier to manage if we're prepared in terms of the finances.
