l. p.This time last year, I thought I would be bedridden by now. After years of slowly creeping up, fibromyalgia had taken over my whole body. I was virtually paralysed with severe, sleep-depriving, crippling pain, from my feet to legs, hips, shoulders and arms down to my fingers - which was the scariest part. I never wanted to depend on painkillers and could not cope with the prescribed antidepressants. I had many treatments previously, both privately and via the NHS. But none of them had a lasting impact on the symptoms, and I was none the wiser. After a decade of failing to contain it, the situation was simply out of control.
A dear friend recommended Cara, so I booked a session with her. I felt incredibly lighter and almost pain-free after our first session. It was amazing to remember how life could be without the pain! Alas, Cara is not a miracle worker, and the pain came back the following day, albeit somewhat less intense. I kept showing up weekly or bi-weekly, each time regaining a bit more mobility and a renewed confidence in my own body.
Cara is a deep, intelligent, compassionate professional. She always offered plenty of knowledgeable, holistic health and lifestyle advice during our sessions, which sometimes seemed to double up as psychotherapy. But unlike psychotherapy, which can last for decades, Cara always reminded me that her practice's focus was a remedy to specific or acute situations, not a long term process. To move forward — quite literally — I should also do my homework on my habits and body, which I duly obliged.
I got discharged after only a couple of months. It's been nine months since we first met, and I can confidently say that my treatment with Cara was the catalyst to a series of very positive changes. Yes, I still have to deal with the bloody fibromyalgia, and I still had some bad days when I didn't hesitate to book a one-off appointment. But having clawed my mobility back, I can manage my pain better. And as a bonus, I lost weight and gained both body awareness and a better quality of life. Highly recommend Cara Daw Ostheopathy. I also appreciated Cara's confidence that the issue was unlikely to arise again after only a few sessions with her. Very refreshing after the usual regular ongoing and never ending treatment from previous osteopaths. She has a lovely friendly manner and I would recomended her without hesitation.
D. M.Cara is an excellent osteopath. She treated me for a bad lower back problem. We did treatment for 3 week and It did help immediately. She also advised on exercises to strengthen my core muscles, and easily explained how should I work on my posture on the long term to avoid these problem to come back again.
Finally, few weeks after the treatment we had a check-up to see how I was doing and whether the exercises where done correctly.
