Really lovely independent cinema completely run by friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgable volunteers - lots of world cinema and cake and no advertising :D

An independent cinema run by a hardy band of locals. Small bar with interesting wine, beer and snacks.
Hosts quirky film seasons and screenings of cult classics.
Chilled life drawing sessions on a Monday night are pretty cool.

Deptford Cinema is a little gem, if you want block busters, surround sound, huge bags of popcorn, then don't come here. On the other hand if you like a friendly volunteer staff, amazing independent films often from around the world, gin and tonic half the price you'd pay in a pub, cinema prices just as competitive, a small seated audience, what's not to like? It's organic, friendly and independent I love it.

I love Deptford Cinema. It is a small community run cinema, accommodating approx. 40 visitors. The screen is small and films are DVD played, which can be a problem for a hardcore film lovers. The atmosphere and the film selection, nevertheless, is more than rewarding! Come, grab a beer at the counter, leave a tip for the upkeep of this wonderful project, bringing life to your community. <3

A true gem. Yes it's small and ramshackle and there is occasionally a slight damp smell. But the programming is excellent and it's a true community cinema! They also deserve credit for having a digital projector that doesn't create the dreaded "screen door effect", which plagues so many cinemas, even the nearby picturehouse. Give this place your support!

Deptford Cinema is fairly new. It's a basement room that seats maybe 30-40 people. When I went, the sound quality wasn't that great. But the reason to go is that they show interesting films you won't see on general release, so I thoroughly recommend it. I hope as they get established the premises will be gradually upgraded.

Great space for watching films - and nice little bar upstairs! I went to the life drawing class here. Only £3.50.. but you do get what you pay for- you sit in the cinema seats and draw in your lap.. too cramped!

You can't go wrong with a local cinema that does a John Carpenter season. Don't let the small interior fool you the projector is an excellent one and it's got the great vibe that the Prince Charles Cinema used to have back in the late 80s. Support them - less Disney more Snake Plissken

Local space with a basement which has been turned into a little cinema. The space is small, but perfect for the type of cult films they seem to show. There were a few technical video hiccups the night I went which was distracting, but hopefully it’s not a usual issue. Upstairs, there was a small seating area with a bar to purchase drinks from. The space also looks a bit unfinished, I suspect it’s a work in progress, so hopefully it continues to grow.

We organised a private Halloween event here, and I'm in awe about the dedication and loveliness of the staff here. Can't believe it's volunteer-run! Such an amazing place to go to to support your local people and cinema. I wish I lived closer so I could chip in more!

Great film selections. Drinks are cheap. What more could you want from a community run cinema. They're always making improvements to the place.

Fun, eclectic programming from a welcoming community of cinema lovers. Real DIY vibes as the volunteers build everything inside themselves; makes for a very funky space.

A little gem for alternative film programmes and theme-related series. Follow them on their media channels to keep updated.
There's also a little nice space upstairs selling beers from local selected breweries.

It was a privilege to show our short film (Your Heart is Homeless) at such a nice venue. Surprisingly easy to get to from King's Cross

Great community cinema and lovely its here especially with the mighty fine original cinema having been across the road - before it was criminally destroyed (developers in league with local council :-( )

One of the best places in Lewisham. Fantastically diverse programme offering cinematic treats of every genre and movement. Cosy and cool screen with a convenient bar upstairs ^__^

They've won several prizes and you can tell why from their program.
The place is small and very DIY, run by volunteers.
A lot of little gems are projected here so I recommend to check the program and show up

Excellent cinema nestled along the broadway on the outskirts of town, a stones throw from the Deptford DLR station, bustops taking you further north of the river, west or further south, and a 7 min walk from the New Cross station.

a Cultural Happening, a much needed cinema screen in Deptford with some of the best films programmed and discussed. A alternative venue in corporate London.
