Reviews of Freemasons Hall
N. R. D. S.
I enjoy many hours in the library here. Its a wonderful building and all the staff make you feel most welcome. The shop and museum well equipped and worth a visit.
S. H.
A fascinating and impressive place to visit. Completely free to go around the freemason museum, but the £5 charge for the audio tour is well worth it. I came out having a much deeper understanding of freemasonry (still not completely sure whether it should be called a cult or not though 🙃) plus there's a cafe.
D. G.
I happened to walk by and after many years in London I thought I’d visit. Impressive building inside out. Free entrance but the main hall is at £5 with audio guide from the museum shop. No hats or caps are allowed in. Bag search if you carry one eg backpack. Very effective and professional staff. Only ground and and first floors are open to visitors. Clean toilets and lively café. Pictures are allowed to take and the museum shop is open. It’s worth visiting and learning more about the history of London. I’d recommend it.
W. J.
Wow wow, what can i say a absolutely wonderful experience, one of the most beautiful buildings i have seen,a must if you visit London
C. G. A.
I had a lovely experience and a great time here..is such a beautiful Hall 😍...Great to spend a nice concert evening!
G. K.
Come and visit the museum and learn about the world's oldest Fraternity. The Museum is well crafted and a great place to spend some time and ask questions. The building is gorgeous at night as well.
S. K.
It is an extraordinary place - very much art deco. I like it. You can stroll in, have a coffee/beer at their café and see the small but insightful museum, the library and a meeting room. Friendly people and worth to visit - it is free what is always a bonus
P. S.
A really interesting Art Deco edifice, home of the United Grand Lodge of England. There's a fascinating museum with tours of the building available on most days. There's also a nice café and bar in the building.
I. S.
Amazing organisation that I've never heard of with great history, went there doing Open House.
P. B.
It's a beautiful Art Deco building with a cafe, shop and museum. Guided tours explain the building and various aspects of its architecture.
Erected as a lasting memorial to those who gave their lives in the Great War (WW1).
Well worth a visit and look out for regular public open concert performances and events held in the Grand Temple
s.
Amazing venue , so beautiful. Attended Africa fashion week . Highly recommended
P. J.
I Loved this building, the architecture is on the scale that could not be repeated. the bar, cafe and restaurant are really cheap if you fancy a pint or a coffee.
A.
Great Vivaldi concert! Loved the venue, all the white marble is impressive!
P. B.
Amazing building, and acustics are good for a Vivaldi concert
R. T.
Rare insight into the secret history of freemasonry. The museum is free and gives you access to the grand building which is still in operation with many lodges and meets taking place. The building is incredibly well kept. Loved sneaking a look into a lodge with the black and white chequered flooring. Would be a great place to shoot a horror movie!
p. g.
What a privilege to be able to enter here... with all the hush hush that surrounds masonry there was a short video you could watch to give an introduction to masonry. You can also enjoy a drink from coffee shop or bar in an impressive hall.
D. F. (.
Fantastic art deco building, museum, shop, café, and bar.
Free tours available, best to book in advance if possible.
a.
I've been part of the craft since 2018 and have travelled to different places and visit many different lodges, including in other countries. This so far has been the most beautiful temple I've seen. Love the grand temple and even the one smaller (used in the film assassins creed)
If you're not a Freemason, there's a free tour that they do, I highly recommend going 😊
A. S.
Interesting museum! If you're into Freemason lore, conspiracy theories or just plain want to kill some time. This is a great free museum to visit! I definitely felt a bit of an outsider coming into this building, but I was quite impressed by the items on display and the architecture of the building itself. A must see if you are close by!
A. G. B.
Who run behind the C theory should visit, Most of things are open to see public.
g. b.
Very impressive gents toilets, immaculate building, well worth a visit
Good cafe, and excellent museum, not expensive
M.
Wonderfully friendly people here and beautiful building. The museum is excellent and if possible, I would recommend that you join a tour. The guide (Enys) was brilliant at his art of presentation, hugely informative and greatv at leading the group through all of the rooms, including the main lodge hall. Thoroughly recommended.
M. P.

A. W.
Great place to visit. Interesting exhibitions and tours. Now has a bar and cafe.
M. C.
Freemasons Hall is home to the United Grand Lodge of England, the governing body of Freemasonry in England Wales and overseas territories. The building is art deco in styling and open to the general public, for guided tours, 6 days each week. Expect to see lots of art, sculpture, history and men and women with their briefcases. Don't go there expecting to see rolled up trouser legs nor funny hand shakes. :)
K. B. H.
Such A great place to visit, I've spend almost half day in the Freemasons hall. I had the opportunity to meet some great Masters, I was feeling like a brother and a part of the Masonic Family. I would highly recommend anyone who's curious about the Free masonry, you will meet great people and they will answer all your questions. Don't forget to visit the FM museum and the library. The architecture is stunning as you would expect, everything is spotless and staff very friendly and helpful. Some nice things in the retail sector they have including pocket money items, bought some of these as tree presents for home.

Any visit in London wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Freemasons Hall. Freemasons' Hall in London is the headquarters of the United Grand Lodge of England and the Supreme Grand Chapter of Royal Masons of England, as well as being a meeting place for many Masonic Lodges in the London area. It is located in Great Queen Street between Holborn and Covent Garden and has been a Masonic meeting place since 1775. There have been three Masonic buildings on the site, with the current incarnation being opened in 1933. Parts of the building are open to the public daily, and its preserved classic Art Deco style, together with its regular use as a film and television location, have made it a tourist destination.
C. H.
The new bar/cafe is excellent. It allows patrons and visitors to enjoy quality refreshments at sensible prices whilst sampling the incredible architecture on view.
B.
Headquarters of the United Grand Lodge of England.

A.
I walk pass this place and found out that people can visit the Freemason hall and they have a free short tour that they will being you to their meeting hall. It is a great place to pop in and have a look at their items in their museum.

The home of Freemasonry. A very impressive building steeped in the history of the craft. The meeting rooms and temples here are like stepping back into the past.
The staff here are very helpful and much of the building is open for tours (including an excellent museum on the history of freemasonry). Definitely worth a look, whether you are a brother or not.
A. W.
Wonderful place, the architecture is very interesting.
T. F.
Finally made it what a amazing building. Excellent facilities and staff and beautifully looked after Art Deco masterpiece.
A. G.
Getting better...security needs to be tighter and still stay as curtious as they always are...
There should be an halo arch for detection. That doesn't allow the main doors to open. Just incase someone is being naughty.
Cool n the gang 😎.
Mr. 🇺🇳💠Taichi...~ 🤑🤗🤔
A. C.

I will be visiting more, as I'm now a member of the Masonic library.

Well worth visiting as a historic building in London - open days a couple of times a year and open for visiting most days of the year with guided tours! absolutely palacial surroundings and the Great Temple is absolutely beautiful. The used the front of the building for the TV series Spooks, several other films have scenes shot in the various rooms - great history , but not many masonic secrets!
V. I.
One of the most important museums to visit in London.
Lots of very important items in different areas and the real truth about Freemasons.
I would suggest to have plenty of time to spend because there are very interesting exhibits that need time to admire.
Highly recommended.
m. 1.
The building is beautifully maintained, and the temple is stunning. There are guided tours for members of the public to visit. If you have an interest in architecture it's a must see, make sure you visit the museum too.
L. B.
Investiture went very well and only problem was lack of bigger sized waistcoat in shop.
m. u.
Exquisite building with phenomenal collection of Freemason ephemera gathered over the centuries. Possibly the best collection on display anywhere in the world, with excellent descriptive tags. Despite numerous prior visits to London had never been here and highly recommended as a free museum to visit.
J. O.
Amazing venue for an organ concert. Pictures hardly give the real impression of the scale and luxury of the main auditorium. We were there for the recent Simon Gledhill concert and everything about the building was impressive, as soon as you enter you will feel this is a special place and you need to be dressed formally but it's not essential as they don't mind as long as you are smart casual. Well worth a visit to see round the place, this can be arranged if you contact them before arriving.
J. W.
Amazing building open to public for free tours
C. C.
Another outstanding QC Meeting and good dining, with great company.
J. M.
Visited here for a Sky VIP event. A great setting with some very impressive features. I especially liked the big brass doors which I forgot to take a picture of! Perfect venue for a Game of Thrones themed event.
D. M.
Lovely environment for a vintage fair.
J. W.
What a wonderful building. If you think the outside is amazing wait till you take a tour inside. Pre-book entry online and spend a few minutes back in another age. Most interesting.
M. D.
Great Hall. Full of history. Good party
A. C.
Brilliant. So friendly and what a beautiful iconic building
A. H.
I took my 2 grandsons for a tour so they can see where I go for my meetings. Whilst a lot of it was over their heads, they seemed to enjoy it, particularly the Grand Temple, which let's face it is very impressive.
S. W.
The best people you are Likely to meet in the world.
A. B.
Lots of information around the outside of the building, very interesting.
B. T.
It's a stunning building inside and out
S. H.
Well layed out with plenty of insight to the massons,
E. N.

M. W.
It is a fabulous art deco building, beautifully maintained, and worth a visit by anyone, whether they are Freemason or not. There are several tours daily on weekdays when the building is not being used otherwise for Masonic business or parties or fashion shows or filming or...
T.
Such a beautiful building inside and out. I've been to fashion shows and most recently a private party held at Freemasons Hall.
There is an air of grandeur, very chic and classy. There are many areas where separate parties can be held, It is so big, I doubt I have seen the interior in it's entirety.
Fantastic location, easy to get to between Holborn and Covent Garden stations.
Whatever your visit, I am sure you'll enjoy.
I would appreciate a thumbs up if you found this review helpful. Thank you 😊
J. r.
Nice antique on display.. Lovely history
N. W.
Only went to the cafe, but it was very pleasant
B. M.
Beautiful building, and home of English Freemasonry. I highly recommend the tour, open to the general public. Visit and dispel the myths, discover the amazing things they have done and are doing in our communities. Well wortha visit!
D. D.
Terrific atmosphere when full, but art deco architecture still very impressive if empty. One of the best 'free entry attractions' in London, irrespective of whether you're a member or not.
N. R.
Pity their minimum fir dining is 25! 🥶
M. R.
The best Art Decor building.
D. N.
Take the tour or even better, become a Mason and experience what this place was designed for.
A. K.
Beautiful historic building, the inside even more stunning than the outside, plus, they have a fabulous museum inside with free entry & lots of really interesting Freemason artifacts.
L. J.

A wonderful art decor building.
A great venue for films tv series fashion shows and lots of other events.
Oh by the way it is also a great place to hold your Masonic meeting.
M. B.
What a beautiful and historic location to see
r. g.
My all-time favourite building in London. I'm not a freemason and don't really have a massive amount of interest in what they get up to, but this place is utterly fantastic with possibly the most incredible interior ever. You can book on tours or visit on Open House Day, but I've been lucky enough to visit during fashion week (when it's used as a venue) and wander round all the backrooms too. Star-studded ceilings, gold everywhere, symbolism everywhere from floor to ceiling - it's just breathtaking and I'd recommend it to anyone with even a passing interest in architecture.
J. H.
An important and historic monument for our culture and society. Opened in 1777 there are tours and a museum with a wealth of information available.
B. C.
Highly recommended for a visit. There are hourly tours most days, starting in the Museum and ending in the Grand Temple. The Museum has just been expanded with a new exhibition celebrating English Freemasonry''s 300th birthday. There are no silly handshakes; even Freemasons don't use them.
M. W.
If you have the time well worth a visit.
I would recommend this as a place to visit, and if possible take the guided tour (which does have to be pre-arranged).
A fantastic working building
K. R.
Interesting. Not something I knew even existed.
E. D.
A very beautiful building.
C. B.
Lovely Art Deco building and well worth a visit
H.
As a Freemason, I'm very proud that this tremendous building is open to everyone free of charge. It was built to commemorate the sacrifice of all the Freemasons that died in the First World War. If you're a Mason it's a must see, if you're a tourist or just interested in great buildings, very much worth a look.
J. J.
Wonderful old building with impressive architecture.
T. L.
Very interesting exhibits about the history of freemasonry and a beautiful old building
A. O.
Pretty cool and very interesting
B.
A must visit if you're in London!
M. T.
Perhaps the best Art Deco building in Europe.
Superb
J. A.
Amazing building, stunning interior and nothing is held back with the decor. It has a free museum with free hourly tours about freemasonary. The building has been used for large events. In films such as the green zone, Poirot, spooks and london fashion week. I recommend it as a top free building/museum.
M. K.
A stunning art decor building, excellent museum of freemasonry, if you're interested in Freemasonry then definitely worth a visit, open to the public with guided tours during office hours commencing on the hour every hour.
C. G.
I came to know about this building because of England’s fashion week and it was only recently I had the opportunity to visit the museum and library. What an amazing beautiful building this is! I can’t wait to learn more and explore freemasonry
M. N.
Excellent venue for donating blood!
A. L.
Who knew you can hire out one of the rooms for private events - rushed in here for a London Fashion Week event - and the room that held the catwalk was being hired out for all of fashion week for old and new designers. Pretty spacious and good lighting - would be better if the seats were tiered though!
J. T.
Everyone is welcome to visit. They also do guided tours, all free of charge. A very interesting experience
Please all go along it is well worth the experience.
M. M.
A true London landmark. A must see places. Get the guided tour. Check out the library and museum. Unforgettable.
N. S.
I have been a regular visitor. For over 40 years. The building is exceptional the staff anb and Brethren also. Visit it if you possibly can. It's free.
B. W.
This is an absolute gem in London, technically the world as the seat of Freemasonry worldwide. Beautiful building which, if you take the free tour of the library and museum, you'll find out is a memorial to those that gave their lives in defending our liberty during WW1. This is open to ALL and not just Masons. Very well organised reception and tours take place on most weekdays save for lerge Grand Lodge meetings or when filming takes place.... Once you take a tour you'll recognise its corners in Spooks, Johnny English etc etc.
P. H.
Grate visit all staff very helpful and friendly
C. F.
Good visit. Friendly staff.
M. P.
