I had never arranged a funeral before my mum passed away and I did not know where to start. From the first phone call to Harold P. Heywood Funeral Services, I felt more at ease with the whole process. I had spoken to a lovely lady called Leslie. I would like to thank Michael and all the staff. He was amazing from the start. He guided us through every step. The advice and guidance he provided was professional. Michael kept in regular contact and was on hand to answer any questions I had. I felt he had taken the stress away and has a genuine care for people. It was coming up to bank holiday when my mum passed away and I was worried she would be at the hospital over the weekend. Michael put my mind at ease without even knowing! He had said - "Just to let you know, your mum will be in my care very soon and whilst she is here she will be family" Just hearing that and knowing she was In the hands of someone who was going to treat her with the respect and dignity she deserved made me smile, when I needed it the most! The day was as perfect as it could be and went so smoothly. I was so worried leading up to the day but my mum had the amazing send of she deserved and this was thanks to Harold P. I would like to thank Michael and all of the staff at Harold P. Heywood for the care, respect and the support they gave our family when we suddenly lost my Dad. Our family had fortunately never lost anyone up until this point and my mother and I had absolutely no idea how to even begin to give my Dad the send off he deserved. We had visited a local funeral home and instantly did not connect with them we needed walking through this process and needed guidance and we felt this wasn’t given. I called Harold P. Heywood funeral services late on a Friday and didn’t expect a call until Monday however Michael called me back on the Friday which I found very professional and we arranged to see him first thing on Monday. From the moment my Mum and I met Michael we felt extremely cared for and he really guided us through the process. He was very patient and very honest. Once we talked through our initial wishes with Micheal he stayed in daily contact with us keeping us informed ensuring all our wishes were being met. My Dads funeral was beautiful. Michael arrived on the day, him and his staff were professional, respectful and compassionate for the entire time. The care that was taken with my Dad we were so grateful for. I have taken the time to write this review as at such a sad time Michael can offer support and guidance. No one wants to plan a loved ones funeral so having someone who cares really helps but not only that I truly believe my Dad was treated with the upmost respect and care he deserved. Thank you Again

When my Dad passed in 2014, Michael took care of everything with such attention to detail and care, leaving no detail unchecked. We have just lost Mum in April and there was no doubt we would be using Harold P Heywood's again. Again, Michael's calm and caring attention to every last detail made a very difficult time much easier to get through. I cannot say enough about his absolute respect and commitment at every stage on the day, every one of the Heywood's team we had contact with did them proud. When my fiancé passed away myself and his family decided to choose Harold P. Heywood funeral directors and I have to say it was the best decision as they were amazing, Michael was amazing from start to finish he was not pushy in trying to rush us in making any decisions on what we wanted for coffin choices, flowers, service etc etc.. from the moment my fiancé got there he was treated with the most utter respect like he was someone in there family. Michael kept us all informed of everything that was happening and how things was going to go on the day. They all go that extra mile to make sure everyone is happy with everything .and that everything runs smoothly on the funeral day.

Well what can our family say about our lovely Michael and all the family at Harold P Heywood I really feel there isn't enough words in the English dictionary to say how amazing they really are. We first met Michael at a dear friends funeral earlier this year, where our family were in complete awe of the attention to detail and professionalism shown on the day. So when my Dad passed away in October this year there was no question in our mind who we were going to have to take care of Dads funeral there wasn't any searching for funeral directors we would trust Michael and the team to care for Dad. we rang on a Monday morning and made arrangements to go and have a chat and was informed that Michael was on holiday. never did we expect that 10 minutes or so later he would call mum and have a chat with her and that we would see him on the Wednesday. To say we were nervous walking into the office as a family I am presuming is only natural but them nerves were soon gone after entering the office. Michael sat us down and we told him all about Dad and what we wanted for Dads special day and he told us that he would take really good care of dad when he arrived and would treat him as family. And my word did he, he went above and beyond getting Dad back to him safely and perfectly. Michael was in contact and only a phone call or message away if we needed him throughout and when we went to see Dad at the chapel of rest we cannot thank Michael and the team enough for making Dad look beautiful. On the day of Dads special day everything went just how Michael said it would and had a final journey fit for a king. Our family and our Dad have been treated with the upmost respect through a very difficult time by all of the team and 5 stars will never be enough as they deserve so much more than 5. So thank you Michael and all the family from the bottom of our hearts. And would highly recommend anybody to use these wonderful people in the future because I can guarantee your loved one will be very well looked after as will you as a family. When my mum found out she had terminal lung cancer one of the things she wanted to do was arrange her funeral to take off some of the pressure from family. We met with Michael and straight away my mum loved him, he made her feel so relaxed and reassured and she actually came out with a smile on her face, her words were if I've got to go I will be happy knowing Michael will look after me and give me a nice send off. That is exactly what he did. When mum passed he did as he promised her, went to collect her and put in place all mums wishes, what I thought would be a stressful situation sorting a funeral wasn't, Michael sorted everything we wanted, he kept us up to date with everything, it ran so smoothly. The service was lovely, he gave her a beautiful, respectful Service from start to finish. We can't thank Michael and the staff enough we will be forever greatful for looking after our mum. I really do not know where to start....as silly as this may sound we had the best possible experience with Heywoods and in particular Michael. We had problems at the start with our sisters funeral plan and registering her death. Both of these problems are not within a funeral directors responsibility but Michael helped us out no end and also outside of 'office hours' .Nothing at all was too much trouble. Our sister was respected and taken care of just as if she was a member of their own family. The love care and respect was beyond anything we expected. I know of others who have used other local funeral directors and while they didn't have a particularly bad experience they did not have the same experience and personal touches we did. I cannot thank Heywoods enough. All the family will be changing/taking up a Golden Charter funeral plan as we discovered with others that you can't choose your funeral directors and Heywoods are an absolute must hence the changes.I missed the funeral sadly as I was rushed into hospital. Michael contacted me to check in on me and as if he hadn't done enough already he sent me a gift box that contained a copy of the ministers transcript, copies of her obituary notice on small cards and a beautiful glass heart with moving words ♥ Everything was above and beyond. The family highly recommend Heywoods to be entrusted with your loved one to take them on their final journey with love dignity and respect. We as a family cannot thank Michael and his team enough. My Great Nan used them over 20 years ago for my Great Grandad’s funeral and would always speak highly of them, she insisted that no one else would help us with her funeral when the time came. From the second we contacted them until after the funeral, they were there for us every step of the way. On our first meeting Michael told us he would treat ‘Our Mary’ like his own Nan and it couldn’t have felt any more like that. The most respectful and caring team and at such an emotional time, we were so grateful for all of the help and support.
