Reviews of HOME Theater Manchester
P.
We payed a visit to Home for a light lunch. There is a bar and food area on the ground floor, a restaurant on the first floor, but we ate on the terrace on the second floor. I chose the Welsh rarebit from the vegetarian menu. It was delicious and really filled me up. A lovely view to be had from the terrace as well.

First visit to Home in September 2022 to watch Prima Facie in the cinema. Really enjoyed the show and the venue. Comfortable seats in the cinema, nice atmosphere. Nice bar area to have a drink in and also a place to eat. Will be returning.

Home is on the site of the old Gasworks. In the late 1970's a lot of LPG was stored here. Risk assessment suggested that the IRA could take out most of the city centre with a well placed bomb. I worked opposite. Would have been a goner. Amazing to see the area now buzzing. The bar served excellent real ale. I had Strange Times Blond; the boss a coffee cocktail. It is a trendy area and Home is basically the cinema foyer bar.
M. R.
What a fantastic place this is. Will definitely be going back to enjoy everything it has to offer. Such a friendly atmosphere and full of people having a really good time. Wheelchair accessible, had no problems at all. The theatre is excellent and the bar is fully stocked. Must try the food next time. Staff are very helpful, happy and friendly. Highly recommend, this is such a good place to socialise.

HOME is a fantastic, modern venue showcasing a wide variety of art! My recent trips have included Hedwig and the Angry Inch on stage, and Swan Song in the cinema. Check out what’s on!
B. W.
An excellent atmosphere, the cafe is fantastic, the staff were very well humoured, the food was delicious and the service was fast.
The bar maintains this standard with great drinks, excellent food and is a perfect place to grab a few drinks.
Whether you're catching a film or installation or just there to catch up with friends, it's a wonderful place to be.
C. M.
The theater 1 is small so that makes the performance intimate. I loved it!
The bar is also nice and the drinks menu is great, didn't try food but definitely wanted too. So next time!
D. E. M.
Just had a lovely light lunch here. Outstanding! Fantastic service and the food was amazing. I had the BLT sandwich and Victorian Lemonade. Simple and perfect. Great atmosphere, very relaxing and really enjoyed it.
A. R.
Very friendly staff. Nice venue and the food and prices are both very good. I would definitely recommend.
V. B.
Lovely venue, spacious, with the option to have a meal or just enjoy drinks with Family /Friends.
Staff are always friendly and welcoming; nothing is too much trouble for them.
Always a pleasure to go there.
W. V.
Fantastic range of films. Staff are always accomodating, venue is gorgeous and always clean too. Food is slightly out of my price range as I'm a student but still tastes great. One of Manchester's finest establishments.
D. F.
One of the more beautiful venues I've had the pleasure of playing at. The restaurant gets top marks for me and we couldn't have dinner there because it was totally booked out, obviously. 5 stars.
A. S.
A great space to hang out with friends. Fantastic schedule of independent cinema, arts and creativity. A good range of food and local beers are served in one of the venue's versatile cafés, either the ground or first floor. If you're in Manchester for a visit, HOME is somewhere you can comfortably spend a whole evening without having to venture outdoors
J.
Fantastic restaurant, very spacious, had plenty of room for our large family gathering. The food was both of excellent quality and great quantity. All food was enjoyed by the whole family and many of us had delicious desserts too!
A. P.
So much to do here! We went to watch a show in a spacious but intimate theatre. The beer is tasty and we were not waiting long to be served. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this venue 🙂
B. C.
Amazing place. Stylish, suitable for film lovers. Good audio quality (10/10) and comfy seats.
The only weird thing is that I wasn't able to pre select seats so whoever arrives first wins, like in the good old times. I don't know if it's like that every time so, take precautions.
The screen I was in hadn't an amazing seats distrution so corners are uncomfortable if that makes sense 😅
H. B.
We visited Home for a quick bite to eat after a trip round Castlefield. The food was very good, chicken kebab, but I was very surprised that it was served in a cardboard takeaway box. I know times are hard and there is a staff shortage but, call me old fashioned, a nice lunch should be served on a clean plate. For that reason alone we won't be eating there again which is a pity because the venue is excellent
J. B.
We came here for Sunday lunch. I had the buffalo wings to start and the Cajun chicken with chips for main both were very nice. My partner had the dough balls to start and the Boa burgers for main. The staff were great and very attentive they even knocked a round of drinks off because it came just after our starters.
A. B.
Great coffee, great vibe and great staff. I would like to give thanks to the barista who made me a great coffee.. Well, two actually, after my first curdled with my soya milk. She was very helpful, friendly and accommodating. This is my new favourite place to chill.
C. B.
The Cinema was great, sold out screening and still very comfortable. We booked in for Sunday Roast shortly after were the experience wasn't so great, we ordered and the food took about 45 mins to come which wasn't to much of a problem. The food that came out was poor and rushed, 1 thin slice of beef, beige and barely roasted potatoes and veggies and a very odd tasting cabbage. The service was great, we didnt complain but they still gave us some free drinks for the wait.
a. 1.
Great place for a movie, a bite, a coffee and even some presents. Great atmosphere and chill environment. Staff were very friendly
s. t.
A wonderful addition to Manchester's already existing plethora of entertainment facilities. We attended the Folk Festival in theatre 1 - a terrific intimate venue for, probably, three- or four-hundred people. 👌
K. E.
Lovely venue with great food and staff. Plenty of veggie options and excellent choice of drinks. Perfect to watchba show, see a film or just meet for food/coffee.
S. S.
Yeah it's an amazing cinema. Friendly and inviting.
One major criticism is that it was freezing while I was watching the film. Cold air blowing on me in October isn't my idea of 'Home'.
T. D.
A fantastic live performance space. A perfectly intimate theatre with comfortable seating. The restaurant and bar is great with plenty of choice with attentive well mannered staff. The menu has vegetarian options too. They have varied interesting performances.
S. A.
Beautiful surroundings, staff all volunteers and very pleasant. Queueing was a little mixed up, not knowing which side to queue. But overall very pleasant afternoon out. Will be visiting again soon.
M. A. B.
It was my first time at HOME. I think it's such a great asset for Manchester and has a very well thought set up. The movie I watched, Aftersun was very warming, however, unfortunately, the cinema itself was freezing to the point my jacket was not sufficient to ensure a comfortable experience. Fortunately, the bar area downstairs is cosy enough to get jackets off. I will certainly visit HOME again, but it will probably be in the warmer months.
M. S.
Lovely place to visit! It has a small art gallery, also there are theatres and cinema rooms. Had drinks with family in the bar and food. Lovely atmosphere.
A. B. C. B.
I love HOME and going to the cinema there, but the website needs some serious work done. It's almost impossible to buy tickets in there.
Finding the films is hard, but then the multiple error messages that don't really explain what the problem is make the whole experience even worse.
L. C.
Lovely food and a great range, including vegan options. Original and tasty. Great atmosphere and really good staff.
m. m.
Great place for a meal and drinks and cinema
C. E.
Went to a comedy night here and will certainly be back. Wasn't expecting much but I was crying laughing in places. Not that well attended which is a shame as more people need to support these quality live events.
A. R.
Home is a nice place to have drink, sparkly, glass fronted, many seats inside n out. Nice vibe, feels relaxing.
C. D.
Nice and clean and interesting. Lovely homemade cake and cappuccino for £3.95. wow. Gone up to £4.95. Still reasonable.
A. L.
The food is very good. Nice set of menu with interesting and exciting dishes. And when it came out... Mmmm!! There was quite a bit of staff when I was there (I guess to cater for when shows are on) and they were all friendly and quick. The vibe here is very relaxed and chilled and it's nice to feel welcomed.
K. C.
Had a fabulous lunch here last week. Fab place. Will definitely visit again.
J. P.
We visited the restaurant on a busy Friday afternoon in December. HOME is just a 10 minute walk from Oxford Road Station, you can enter through one of the viaduct arches just off Whitworth Street West. The staff were attentive and helpful - despite being busy with several Christmas party tables. The food - pizza was freshly made and had the right amount of toppings whilst the base had a lovely crunch, but wasn't tough. Home is a great place to drop in for lunch or dinner, it has a lively vibe and is both comfortable and stylish.
C. W.
Went here to see Garth Marenghi TerrorTome live reading. Great venue, very intimate and comfortable. Nice bar and friendly staff.
A. H.
Fantastic space in a great, central location. Staff really friendly and helpful on Thursday night and got us a table at the restaurant on the first floor without a reservation on what was a really busy night. I was back the next day and visited the gallery space on the ground floor and checked out the arts cinema at the tip of the building. Will definitely come back next time I'm in Manchester.
G. K.
I live 70 miles away, but this is the cinema I visit more than any other. An unfailingly wonderful selection of films that you are unlikely to find elsewhere, mixed with critically acclaimed major releases. There are frequent film seasons, special events & W&As or talks from directors.
I don’t bother checking the listings, there’s always something I want to see.
The theatre is always fascinating as well, plus there’s a good restaurant, bar & they make a nice coffee!
M. M.
Decent cinema, would prefer the seats to be better.
Had food in the restaurant, pizza was great
R.
My favourite place in Manchester. A perfect independent cinema and great for food and drinks too. I love the special film screenings they do - I’ve had the chance to see some amazing films I wouldn’t otherwise have been able to watch.
S.
Came here for lunch with my son in law. Food was tasty and service was good. He comes often as its near his work and would recommend the pizza with artichoke in it.
C. R.
A good experience.
Good food, staff talk too each other instead of help customers despite drinks taking 30 minutes and it being half empty but the food was nice and staff polite when actually serving.
I would visit again!
G. N.
Lovely welcoming atmosphere. Great space for exhibitions. Didn't try the restaurants, but they looked good.
H. F.
We dropped by for an early lunch, they don’t really have many brunch options but their menu is good nonetheless. Pizza and open sandwich were delicious. House wine surprisingly good. The waitress was lovely, can’t recall her name, slightly older lady, she recommended these dishes anyway and we were not disappointed. We will be back when we’re in this part of town.
J. S.
Fascinating venue for all sorts of media. Exhibitions, cinema, and places to eat. So easy to get there from our home town (Leigh), either by bus or train.
z.
I'm a huge fan of home! Been a member for over a year and I can't get enough of the place.
The cinemas are always well kept, they show a great assortment of films and the audience are always well behaved (big plus). You can take booze in too, so that's fun!
The theatres are also great, comfortable and with great views of the state.
The restaurant has never let me down. The food is consistently great and the cafe downstairs is a lovely hangout area that offers cakes too.
There's nothing to dislike here for me, and there's even a car park right next to it!
S. T.
Love this place. They show decent films, and there is quite a chilled out vibe in the cafe and bar.
T. T.
A perennial favourite for a film experience, this venue also boasts an impressive array of eating and drinking options to make it all the more enjoyable.
S. A.
Amazing space, great atmosphere
J. W.
Really liked the show and the atmosphere. I did not like the corner shop tuna baguette I had afterwards though...
M. S. C.
I enjoyed this Buddha Bowl after watching a great film in lovely company and comfortable surroundings. The food was delicious and the staff were first class.
S. H.
Excellent venue. Lots going on. Great value pizza and a beer for £12 offer.
V. I. M.
we had very good pizzas before watching a film . The atmosphere and the service were good . Also, they rushed the order not to miss the film. Home is the place to eat watch films go to the theatre and art exhibitions or meet friends in a good bar for good beer or cocktails , all in one place. Get the metro link from town or you can make by walk to HOME.
H. B.
Second visit. And still a little underwhelmed on customer service.
Building incorporates cinemas, theatres, art spaces plus bars and restaurants. All comfy and modern as you would expect.
Box office was helpful, and I had decided to have food and a drink before catching a film.
I’d noticed on the outside wall a sandwich dish that I quite fancied. Sat in the downstairs bar area I couldn’t find a single menu to hand. I went to the bar to enquire about the jackfruit vegan sandwich, I was quoted something off the menu. And I responded the vegan jackfruit sandwich.
Home have a pager system to collect your food from the side of the bar. No issue with that. Collected my food to be greeted by a pile of chips. Returning to the bar I was informed the sandwich only available upstairs. I was now confused to what I had, and if it was 100% vegan. The young lady I had ordered from came over to me to say they would happily refund and I could go to the bar upstairs. But I had lost it by then. And the chips pretty standard frozen affairs did not help. So menus on all tables. And staff that listen to customers would improve the rating.
Rest of the visit smooth enough.
P. M.
Great place to hang out, enjoy a meal with a pint and watch quality documentary that is probably not shown anywhere else. Highly advised!
J. C.
Went here a few weeks ago to see the opening of their arts exhibition. My good friend beat several hundred people to get her painting on display. Currently on display and actually for sale, her painting made me smile for a picture (something I never do, my go to face when having my photo taken is always a dark demeanor). Hope someone buys it....I spent nearly three hours there looking at around 500 exhibits and actually had a very enjoyable and mature time. Plus, it was free.
S. B.
Had a Company Meeting in one of the Meeting Spaces on the 2nd Floor. Room was pleasant & the attached bar was well stocked
c. s.
Beautiful location, great movies. No popcorn or noisy kids in the cinema
M. C.
We saw a fantastic production of Wise Children here - the set, the costumes, the acting and the singing were all perfect. The venue is really interesting too, there is a mini gallery that you can wander around before the performance or you can grab a drink or bite to eat.
E. G.
Really nice venue with a bar, restaurant, cafe & several theatres/galleries.
Nearby parking is very expensive, so public transport may be a better option unless you don't mind parking further away & having a bit of a walk
S. D.
Welcoming ambience and friendly team members. We took advantage of the £16.95 Tuesday Reel Deal, pizza, drink and a movie
T. B.
Went to the cinema, and was shocked with how lovely it was. The place has a lovely feel to it, and you can feel its roots in the Arts. I cannot wait to go back again, and would definitely eat and drink there (friend has advised this part is great too).
J. M.
We got married on the 21st of May 2022 in the event space which is a fabulous setting. Steph and her team did an amazing job and catered to our every need. The food was great and there was plenty to go around. Everything about HOME MCR was fantastic and made our special day even more special and I highly recommend booking an event there. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!
A. J.
Great theatre venue. Enjoyed the fantastic show and interval drinks.
F. B.
Really great venue, 10 minutes walk from central hotels. Excellent theatre and bar area. My seat was D in the circle and I felt very close to the stage. Stunning staging of Richard III.
A. J.
Very friendly staff and beautiful food. Definitely come back again
C. W.
Amazing selection of cask ales on offer, nice food, really friendly staff and good service
S. C.
Good atmosphere, lovely surroundings and a super programme.
It is just a shame that the seats in the theatre have such limited legroom. My husband can fit in only if he takes an end seat and sits sideways with his legs poking out into the walkway, which just isn't comfortable.
G. O.
First time here last week and thought it was a lovely little theatre. Comfy seating and view from the back was great. Staff were all friendly and helpful and the vibe was nice and busy. Not sure what the other aspects are like but really enjoyed the theatre experience. Highly recommend a visit!
C. H.
I love home theatre, great facilities, food and drink lovely and always prompt service giving enough time to get into a performance. Would recommend to everyone!
J. S.
The restaurant here is one of the best in the city. Nothing pretentious or too out there but what they do, they do really well.
P. M.
Brilliant arts centre offering some great choices in non-mainstream movies. Always enjoy a trip here.
J. J.
Lovely helpful staff, clean, tidy. God bless Tony W.
h. j.
My first visit here and it definitely won't be my last. Short walk from Deansgate makes it easily accessible. Enjoyed a quick lunch in the cafe/bar. Pizza was delicious. Quick and polite service. Facilities were clean and in excellent condition. My visit today was to see the art exhibition which was free! What a lovely way to spend an hour or so. Would highly recommend a visit here. I will return to see a film in the cinema at some point.
C. G.
Went to an amazing podcast recording event. Stayed for tasty pizza, friendly service and a great atmosphere.
J. S.
Lovely venue! First time attending theatre here and lovely space to enjoy Hedwig in. Great range of toilets all over I clouding gender neutral ones so everyone is catered for.
J. F. M.
I like seeing non English speaking films, when it was the Corner house I went to see Italian gangster film Romanzo Criminal, it always produced interesting films.
L. T.
Conveniently located on the edge of the city centre this is a great pace to meet for drinks, food and a catch up, or to stop off after a day in town, the atmosphere is relaxed if a little cold when it's quiet, the staff are warm and welcoming no matter how busy it is, the food is usually well cooked and presented and the prices are pretty reasonable.
As more of a complex than a one trick pony there is an independent cinema as well as a theatre on the site, a quick look through the screenings will always help you find something less mainstream to watch, although the theatre productions are something that's never grabbed me, but I'll always have a look just in case.
Always a bonus, anywhere, the coffee is pretty good as well... 😉
H. M.
Great dinner before cinema with plenty to eat and friendly service
A. o. C. S.
Lovely place but pricey, lots of seating, especially outdoors.
C. M.
Went to see Spanish film Maixabel as part of its Viva festival. Brilliant! HOME reliably sources good films, and it's great to go there and be able to watch foreign films.
Staff always pleasant and helpful.
Bar and restaurant also good.
R. D.
An amazing arts venue which caters for the needs of a wide range of audiences. Fantastic programming of cinema/ live theatre/ dance/ art all year round. A cornerstone of the Manchester culture scene.
C. C.
Have just been to Home to see the very good English film Ali & Ava. The seats are very comfortable in the small Marina's cinema. Food & drink available if you need any & an exhibition on as well. Worth a visit if you enjoy different often foreign language films that are not shown in large cinema complexes.
W. T.
We were sad when the corner house closed but HOME is even more interesting.
We always have a great visit, eclectic mix of exhibition space, cinema screens and places to eat.
Helpful , friendly staff, always a very clean, safe environment .
J. D.
First time visiting here. A really relaxed place to sit and eat or just have a drink. The Theatre inside was great too. Spacious seats.
S. “. T.
great small Theatre with a nice atmosphere also a cinema a few restaurants and ars
l.
Great place to participate in the Manchester Animation Festival, great staff and friendly people.
J. R.
Lovely friendly theatre with excellent sound and production values. We saw Hedwig here and felt it was one of the most exciting and moving shows we have ever seen.
C. W.
It's a fantastic theatre with great bars and phenomenal performances. Stop down if you ever get a chance.
L. t. s.
Decided to visit for a light lunch. First time having food here and I was not disappointed. Pleasantly surprised with the sticky beef salad. Came in a box and was a generous portion. It was delicious with plenty of the sticky sauce. The roasted peanuts were delightful. The service was superb. Will definitely come again.
S. C.
HOME offers the alternative cinema and arts experience you might not know you want yet. Although the cinema screens are small, the intimate nature of the rooms lends itself well to certain film types. Just don't be surprised if the person behind you sounds like your grandma when your watching a film "ooh he's a baddy him". The bar is well staffed and you can take a drink into the screenings with prices at a very reasonable rate. HOME is not and never was a secret, but it still feels like one.
M. I.
I rated this only 4 stars a while ago, not sure why. Nice staff and great films, plays & exhibitions. Might have been the price at the bar but I'm less bothered by this in independent cinemas.
C. S.
Very clean hotel in the heart of Manchester will definitely be back
j.
It was ok. The tickets were overpriced for the cinema (9.50). There wasnt any decent snacks (no popcorn). The seats were barely comfortable. The screen in screen one was a good size and the sound was immersive so came out of the film fairly satisfied.
c. b.
Really nice cinema showing films you can't expect to see anywhere else in the city. The bar and food is also great. The exhibition, the one time I went, was an interesting addition. Lastly, I do love it for the Engels statue outside
C. V.
Lovely theatre, quite small but perfectly nice. Parking at secure Q park less than 2mins away. Great selection of places to get pre theatre dinner or drinks close by. Highly recommend Tiffins and really handy sainsburys local next to it too.
R. M.
Visisted for the first time over the Jubilee weekend and it's a really nice space with a few bar/eatery options to choose from. Although I really didn't enjoy the Brazillian drum band as it was for me very repetitive and very lenghty and uninteresting, others seemed to like it.
It would be a fab place to go on a sunny day as they have a faux grass area with deck chairs facing the stage, offering live music acts/DJ's and sporting events showing on a big screen. I would come back again for sure to see what other entertainment will be offered.
J. R. A.
Great café and very nice cinema screens.
A. P.
A great evening with family watching Back Whyte Grey. A great venue with wonderful helpful staff
C. T.
Visited the cinema here last week for the first time and am already looking at getting a membership. A beautiful building, great cinema, very reasonable prices, really lovely and helpful staff, looking forward to trying the theatre, bar and pizzas! I love that they're working hard to be more environmentally friendly. It feels like a proper night out and an all round brilliant experience. Will be our regular cinema/theatre from now on and looking forward to see everything it has to offer!
J. D.
Good food and super convenient for a pre theatre meal.
M. D.
Like the venue. Ticket seller careless and selected wrong tickets. Clean and good contempory layout. Alternative films shown here that you can't see elsewhere.
K. B.
Trendy venue with great food & facilities. Upstairs is a waitir service restaurant and downstairs order at the bar snack type meals.
Today we went to the cinema for an independent movie. Enjoyable experience.
L. “. C.
I really enjoy coming to Home: a theatre, cinema, bar and restaurant, all under one roof? Yes please. Although I loved and do miss HOME's predecessor (Cornerhouse my beloved <3), it's now a much bigger venue, therefore having more available/on offer to you as a patron. There's always a great selection of shows and film (that you can only see in a limited number of establishments across the city) and, along with helpful staff, a calming atmosphere and a little shop where you can buy specialist magazines etc, it all makes HOME a cool place to visit :)
F. a. D.
Never tire of this venue. Has something different to offer every time I go. Lovely food and drink in a fantastic building. What us not to like.
The gallery, performance and cinema spaces are almost subservient to the heart of the building, which is indeed, the people that frequent the public spaces. A joy.
J. H.
Great space, nice lively atmosphere, but the service is a bit brusque, and the desserts were non-existent!
S. W.
Home from home. Yummy food great films lovely staff what more could you want?
E. F.
I have a week off work, so I decided to take myself to Home in sunny Manchester for a Mark Kermode double bill. There are 5 cinema screens, two theatres venues and bars and restaurants. It's a really lovely venue, great selection of movies that I wouldn't get to see in Preston. I saw Compartment No 6 and True Things.
Next time I'll be sure to get a pizza, they look divine.
J. M.
Just wanted to say a thank you to the lovely staff from last night. We go to HOME all the time and always have a great experience. Food was fab and just wanted to say thank you to our server who was particularly lovely, sadly I didn't get her name but she had short-ish blonde hair, she served us around 9pm yesterday and gave us lots of extra buffalo sauce :) Just wanted HOME to know that their restaurant staff are wonderful.
M.
Saw Simon Amstell recently - venue was good - intimate but not small, comfortable seating, all amenities available or close by. Friendly, helpful staff with good customer service.
J. B.
Firstly had something to eat preshow - lovely and then went to see Hedwig and the Angry Inch starring Davina De Campo and cast. Fantastic performance, really good seating with unobstructed views. I love the vibe of this place.
h. a.
Creative concepts are found - never saw such things in other galleries. It's clever and innovative
J. T.
Good film and theatre venue for underground, cult and foreign films, not as cool as when it was the cornerhouse but still good. Nice bar and food, deducting two stars for some of the incredibly rude front of staff people, but generally ok staff otherwise.
M. W.
Great place for a bit of art and culture, with a relaxed atmosphere. Good films on show in quiet and small cinema screens, with like minded people. Bar has a few lesser known lager on tap with friendly bar staff at reasonable prices (for Manchester)
M. H.
Aye it's alright like, bit posh for me, attracts the sort of theatre crowd that'll look down noses. Class cinema with some great indie films tho, just go for a drink at Bunny's or somewhere else before you go. Staff are awesome, friendly and happy. Also, they got my name wrong in the home open exhibition 2019 and never apologised, so sod em.
L. B.
Show was fantastic. Not impressed with front of house. Could not see details of show, cast displayed. Had to enquire which theatre the show was in. No photos of cast etc, noone selling programmes visibly. I had to really chase for one. When I asked if I could send a note to member of cast, noone could take responsibility to pass it on. Show 'My House has Chicken Legs' was colourful, inventive, exciting and wonderfully performed.
M. C.
Nice food, was nice outside until someone started playing loud music out of a Bluetooth speaker
S. H.
Nice addition to Manchester. Eclectic mix of offerings but that's not a bad thing.
j. J.
A highlight of Manchester, kinda of hidden gem.. As its a lovely venue, great indy euro cinema, great dining and cafe.. Work space.. Friendly welcoming staff. Come visit, needs our support... Would be a major!!! Loss if it was to go... Highly recommended (and great bars nearby)!
C. Y.
A really lovely venue, great atmosphere around the place. We arrived by car and it was really convenient, near to q-park, with 25% off because we were attending Home. Price at bar seemed reasonable to me. Saw Adam Buxton who was great. Enjoyable evening all round.
L. C.
One of the best theatres in the country for atmosphere and feel.
S. C.
Visited here for Vir Das standup comedy show...amazing place...would recommend people to visit. It also good place to hangout...

Great meeting place and generally helpful and courteous staff.

Saw Fat Blokes here, the show was incredible and the theatre is really nice and welcoming!

Danebank is a lovely place. But for 1 thing and it's a BIG BUT when you're dog leaves some thing PICK IT UP AND PUT IT IN A BIN OR TAKE IT HOME IT'S ONLY WHAT YOU FEED IT

It's a really good place to visit has a lot on offer (cinema/theatre/art gallery/restaurant/bar). The cinema/theatre seats are comfy, the art gallery always has some worth looking at in it and the food and drinks are really good. It is a tad on the pricey side but I'm always happy to pay it.
J. C.
Swanky new cinema & arts centre. Has a bar, but don't know much more than that- I just went to see a film.
A.
Great films and a yummy cafe/restaurant/bar too!!!!

Didn't experience HOME in its full glory as we visited for one movie. Starting with the tickets more expensive than your regular cinema ten pounds a head if you can afford that we purchased from the box office and was kept waiting a fair amount of time to be seen too as the woman was on the phone. The cinema screen itself was lovely and large and the room was pleasent enough. The seats looked nice enough however I found my rear end quite sore and uncomfortable drawing to the end of the movie which I have never experienced in another cinema or movie anywhere. The drinks selection for non alcoholic is limited and I found myself leaving the que for drinks as it was too long for my liking. Overall deffiently not a place for a family day out, young children and families won't benefit from much here.
P. T.
Little gem of an area for drinks, food golf ! and a show if you like that sort of thing , be nice in good weather

On this occasion I was only visiting to deliver my daughter's art for an exhibit open later this month. They were very welcoming and extremely well organised. We are so excited to visit again to see our daughter's art hanging on your walls in a couple of weeks time!
A. B.
Clean and modern environment. Lovely roof terrace for a drink on a sunny day. And a cinema with films you won't see in more mainstream theatres.

Delicious food , lovely staff
Matt is the best!

Home is always a safe and convenient place unless it’s confirmed not to be

Lovely place in deansgste. Great in the summer to have a pint or a coffee. Good atmosphere and friendly staff.
M. H.
Good food, very helpful and friendly staff. Feels quite classy without being pretentious and lots on offer entertainment wise. Will definitely be going back
T. L. G.
Absolutely fabulous night out here, what an experience.
T. L.
Perfect spot for a date. We had the Sunday dinner before heading in for a movie. Restaurant was spacious, good service and good food. The cinema was comfy, clean and had great sound. Will def be back x
A. M.
Me and my Daughters went to see a show at the Home theatre. There are plenty of places to eat and drink there it was a very entertaining night we would definitely come here again
R. M.
Home is mostly always a pleasant experience. I feel that seating should be assigned in the smaller cinemas as sometimes it forces couples to have to split. My main complaint is that with a facility such as this, why is nearly every cubicle in the men's toilets on all three levels broken in someway?
A. C.
A wonderful venue, relaxed & friendly. I visited the Theatre which is lovely & intimate with great views from all of the auditorium.
There is also a bar area, serving drinks & food.
I'd recommend you visit and try for yourself
T. B.
Nice gallery space, cafe and cinema.

Nice chill outdoor area!

Had the red snapper burger. Really tasty.
Then went to see Belfast. Great film, not much happens but a real story.

HOME is a brilliant mix of Cinema, Theater, Gallery, Bar, Restaurant. Very welcoming and lovely feel to all these combined facilities. Really worth a visit. It's on Tony Wilson place. Pop in and check it out.
T. R.
HOME Cinema review. Was disappointed with the cinema. Started with online booking which tells you which seat you are going to get with no choice. Even the limited front/middle/back choice didn’t work. I asked for one in the middle but got given one at the back. Then when you get there there is nothing but the cinema. No drinks, no popcorn or snacks to take in with you. Compared to many niche cinemas these days which have comfy sofas, at seat food & drink service and choose where you want to sit, the HOME has a long way to go. Ate downstairs afterwards and the food was very good as partial compensation.
J. T.
HOME is a fantastic place to visit and caters for most. The cinema is great and obviously it has plays, exhibitions and arts events.
There's a great cafe and bar + lots of other restaurants and bars on the complex.
The building is new and modern but with heart and soul rather than a lot of the bland monoliths going up in the city.
Cornerhouse was a Mancunian institution but HOME has taken the mantle and is improving on it ten fold. I would recommend a visit if you are in Manchester you won't be disappointed
K. C.
Fabulous safe venue for cinema and theatre - excellent restaurant serving range of food including good vegan and vegetarian options. Enjoyed a lovely meal today to celebrate our late mum and dad - very good service! Thank you!
L. H.
My partner is exhibiting at the art show that is on at the moment. Art exhibition is excellent... Staff helpful, friendly.. bar/cafe very relaxing place to have a coffee etc
B. 1.
Really nice building and theatre. However it was a tad expensive and silly that we couldn't take glass bottles of water into the cinema. If we were going to harm people we'd being weapons, not a glass water bottle.
C. K.
A perfect independent cinema and great for food and drinks too. I love the special film screenings they do - I’ve had the chance to see some amazing films I wouldn’t otherwise have been able to watch.
A. K.
Fantastic place, always love coming here. The cinema is great, as is the dining and also the art exhibitions they have on often. Highly recommended for enjoying visiting Manchester.
J. B.
Great venue for our Commonwealth games reunion, staff were fab 👌
J. S.
Just watched the brilliant ‘Bait ‘ film tremendous. I love Home, but it was a little chilly in the small cinema.
J. S.
I love home, food is consistently brilliant and service is great. I wish they let people tip via card , this is what causes 4 star not 5.
R. W.
Saw Danny Boyle present his new film, Yesterday. Very good venue, slightly pricey on drinks.
M.
Nice outdoor area, plenty of space and good sun at mid day
B. M.
Brilliant venue in the heart of Manchester. I'm never disappointed when I visit here

I have just been to see The house on chicken legs. The show was fantastic great cast, costumes and singing.A great show congratulations to all of you .The show should be on Broadway.

First time back since.... the everything we lived through. Still one of the best places of its kind anywhere. Smart, friendly, felt safe throughout. And The Sparks Brothers documentary was brilliant!

Hipsters and arty types hanging around looking cool.......

I attended Tony who works at bad kamra video presentation. It was really insightful to watch. I an honoured to be part of something truly amazing and honourable 😊

Fast service, friendly staff, good food.

Came here with a group; has a nice art exhibition going on right now. Most favorite were the more abstract pieces; but the bar is quite nice as well.
J. A.
Best arts culture and Cinema place to visit in Manchester. With the restaurants bars and galleries.
P. C. G.
Like the atmosphere and some of the plates ate really good and different. If combined with a performance or a movie a nice night out.
C. M.
Amazing multicultural place. You feel the creative atmosphere..A place for not missing!
S. B.
One of my personal favourites! This place is brilliant! An absolutely lovely space to eat and drink both inside and out on multiple levels, excellent food and really lovely, helpful staff. The cinemas and the theatres are exceptional and they show a really wide variety of films and plays; all of a terrific standard. Never fails to impress! Recommended!

Lovely space, went to an art exhibition there and was well layed out

I am very happy, for theatrical performances

Home is a fantastic place to visit for all kinds of reasons. I attended various events as part of the David Lynch at HOME festival. The cinemas were great, the art exhibition was really well curated and presented and was free, the theatre space was comfortable with good views of the stage from all positions. It is also a great place to hang out with friends. The outside seating area is a wonderful place to enjoy a drink in the sunshine, and the food and drink selection is good too. I would highly recommend a visit here. It is an exciting hub of creativity and activity. 😊
V. C.
One of my favourite places to go in Manchester. Great atmosphere and a variety of indie films you can’t find easily elsewhere. Restaurant serves great food.
F. P.
Great cinema seats at great price
V. H.
Harry Hill was great. Nice venue
A. A.
Love it here. Had a meal and the staff were really pleasant and the Greek style pizza was delicious. Enjoyed the cinema and the film. I keep returning because there are many interesting films to watch and I find it a great place to get away from things and relax for a while.
M. T.
Brilliant venue in Manchester with great staff in all areas. Great for film and theatre. Also has a nice restaurant and lift access.
The film programme is excellent with good films every week. Doesn't do the 'Hollywood mainstream' but instead goes for independent films and foreign language. (Obviously, if that's not your thing, then stay away - but do give it a try...)
The screens are all good facilities. Decent screen size, enough legroom unless you're over 6' 2", respectful audiences.
A bar is on the ground floor with a restaurant in the first floor. Food is good quality, prices are relatively low, service is excellent every time.
From the menu, I recommend the soup of the day, the chips, fish and chips, HOME beef burger, the Sunday roasts (though I haven't tried the but roast), and any pizza or salad. Weekday offer of the Workers' Lunch (till 4pm) is a bargain.
Counting the days till lockdown is over.
A. C.
The cinema is great with interesting films. I tend to go for lunch. This time I met up with my family on my lunchtime. Service is attentive but not overbearing. The lunchtime deal is very good value. Especially the kids deal. Good gluten free options and a nice place to meet up.
Y. C.
Pleasant place to stay during a rainy day; friendly staff and warm atmosphere.
o.
this place is always amazing, has great film festivals on throughout the year and some of the best vegan food I've had!
J. M.
The place is a movie theatre/ arts place with a bar/ restaurant on the side. It's a bit expensive for me to go there to buy coffee or drinks. I spent £3 on a large coke w/ ice & the coffee is even more expensive depending on what you get.
B. H. A. F. T.
Not a bad experience so far. Prefer this kind of cinema than a place like odean and Vue. I appreciate the more down to earth feel and friendly environment which suits the name home as it really is home to me. And as bonus the industry connections it has such as Danny Boyle and so on. As a recent animation graduate it makes me feel a little closer to my hero’s and where I want be in life. And a bonus is its right next to a Sainsbury’s local for snacks and stuff. I’d go as far that it’s my favourite cinema and I just appreciate the down to earth feel it has. No one judges you and you don’t have a dress code with security turning you away like these other horrid places all over Manchester. And very affordable to be in the same room as my favourite director Danny Boyle. Only problem was I was too shy to ask if I could be in his next film.
S.
So much to do as a family or with friends. We went to see the Manchester Art display which was fantastic! Then ate in the restaurant. The food and service was brilliant. If spending time with friends there is a bar downstairs which has a lovely ambiance. I have used the cinema in the past. If you appreciate having less people in the audience it the place to be, as each screening is extremely intimate.
We will be back!
R. S.
Great place! When you buy tickets, they don’t come with specific seats so if you come early enough you can always get the best seats! Also there is a bar on each floor with a screen, so you can quickly run and get beverages at any point during the movie or before. Went to watch Joker with my gf, was very happy with my experience.
D. P.
Quick pizza in the restaurant then a film. Super night out.
J. B.
Went to the parent and baby cinema here a few weeks ago. Really well run event. Cinema seats were comfy and the sound/picture quality was excellent.
They do an amazing lunchtime deal on salads and pizzas. The pizzas are delicious and good quality. Would recommend.
M. B. G.
Very sophisticated place. Lovely interiors. Good selection of movies as well as theatre and art shows. There is bar and restaurant if you fancy a bite or a drink. However if you’d like something else, place is surrendered with bars and restaurants so there’s plenty to chose from. When the weather is nice there are tables outside and on the rooftop too.
V. C. W.
Great venue for independent films. Has a really comfortable atmosphere and a good selection of bars and restaurants in the complex. However at £7.70 for a gin and tonic, I waited till I got home rather than pay those prices. But that's a very small grumble for an otherwise brilliant place.
r.
Excellent place, the Cornerhouse was always a great place to watch indie movies and see great art and this is it's natural evolution with the Library theatre rolled in
F.
Ladies toilets badly maintained broken lock on disabled toilet and one sink didn't have running water.
H. K.
Another great day out at HomeGround, the outdoor venue Home have put together for the Summer. Outdoor theatre, music, djs, kids shows etc with food and drinks available, lots of free shows too. Well worth checking out the events on the Home website as this stage will soon disappear.
J. G.
A cool vibe and a sympathetic space. The food was good and the service excellent. Shame that there is currently no theatre or cinema offering at present, but well worth a visit anyway. A favourite haunt when I want to chill and people watch.
M. C.
Great bar with a good atmosphere. Could do with more choice of ales but the crowd and atmosphere make up for it.
Restaurant is reasonably priced and consistently good, with nice round sociable tables. Recommend the Beef Short Rib Ragu.
You can also order food in the bar downstairs if you are in a hurry. Screens are great and the film selection and events are great. Theatre is promising and I think manages not to step on the toes of other local productions.
Nice that they've introduced some non gendered toilets. After making one of the women's toilets non gendered they've now done the same with the adjacent men's which is much more sensible.
P. B.
Wow. This place is amazing. A theatre, bar and a restruant. There is a disabled entrance, and with lifts to all floors. The lifts are spacious and can easily fit a few people in them. The food was outstanding. The price is average - but you definitely get more than what you pay for. Portion sizes are just right, an the quality of food is brilliant. Highly recommended!
K. E.
Went for lunch with friends. Was a lovely meal.
S. D.
Great ambiance
T. H.
The food and drink in here are simply superb. Great fried chicken, pizzas and don't miss the workers' lunch for £8.95.
Bar is also a great place to meet. Decent wifi and a lovely atmosphere.
l.
An apt name for a great space. Loads going on, very well run and the vibe is always right 👌🏼
C. B.
Great place to eat with a solid food selection. Novel dishes to suit all palates including for vegetarians and pescatarians. Nice to place to meet before a night out. Staff are friendly and attentive and prices are reasonable. Lovely clean environment and nice relaxing atmosphere. The venue often has art shows and the cinema situated often shows less mainstream productions, which can give visitors access to new genres.
K.
Home is probably one of my favourite places in Manchester combining high quality cinema, theatre, dining and drinks. Great staff, very polite and helpful. A necessary alternative to what the blockbuster multiplex has to offer. The restaurant has a great menu. Favourite dishes goat cheese and lamb pizza an the tagliatelle ragu.5/5
G. A.
Not a vegan but had vegan poutine I the cafe, really tasty, massive portion, then watched a good film in a lovely, clean cinema. Lovely staff too.
k.
A beautiful and modern space to hold an event.
j. s.
A brilliant venue, so chilled with a great vibe. Perfect for food, drink or a cultural event.
F. B.
Modern theater with big enough seats and leg room for today's people set in a newly built estate.
P. S.
Loved the day trip to HOME. Took in a bit more of an independent film, amazing meal with a friend. Such a great place full of arts and inspiration. The staff always exude a warm friendly glow, with clear passion for what they do.
M. B.
Great stage layout and bar, can not complain. The staff were friendly and helpful and seating is comfortable enough. Very modern decor, and well thought out. Pleasure to be there, the show I saw remained intimate even though there are many seats, perfect venue for an acoustic/comedy gig.
M. B.
Beautiful independent cinema with nice bar with kitchen for before the film. Art exhibitions also brighten the lobby for all to see
L. B.
Great cinemas. Mostly excellent films and a good. This is an upmarket arts cinema. It used to be the corner house. Now a much more modern and established venue.
However the restaurant is appalling. It looks great and has all the infrastructure of a great place. Booking is good and you get the feeling you are about to eat something very special considering the prices aren't low. The menu is extensive and Vegan options are included here too.
My Vegan Portobello mushroom burger was the biggest disappointment. It was dry tasteless and aside from the look it was not worth the wait.
Food quality taste and look is bad. Enough not to get any stars from me. In terms of service it is chaotic and the timing at the table is in drips at their own pace.
Don't get me wrong staff are very nice, polite and try hard. However achievement is not there at all.
The 3 stars in my review is for the cinema as for the restaurant it wouldn't qualify for any stars but have to give a minimum of 1.
J. C.
Superb food for price point and well kept ales. Really chilled atmosphere in the main foyer and the film was superb. I'll be back again.
S. W.
Our second visit to see the HOME open art exhibition. Not as crowded as the preview night so we were able to peruse the works of art more closely. A good venue for the exhibition. If you haven't visited before you'll be surprised by the diversity of what is offer. Cinema, theatre, art gallery complete with snack bar, restaurant and late night bar on the top level. Well worth a visit. Even more exciting for us as my husband's ( Philip Westcott) entry had been sold. 🤩
n. i.
Watched Loving Vincent here on Saturday. What a lovely place. The view. The atmosphere. The decor all really nice. We had lunch in the restaurant. Nice, friendly and attentive staff. Delicious food. Great choice. Lots of choice in the drinks. Very reasonably priced. I'd definitely come again.
T. C.
This was our first visit to this establishment and we attended a party in the private events room on the third floor. The room was industrial in style. The room itself was sizeable but felt cozy and it benefitted from an outside seating area where you could smoke if you wanted too. This area had tall plants growing that acted as a protection if it was breezy or a bit chilly. The room had a bar served by friendly and highly professional staff. As part of the party the establishment provided a buffet and this was incredibly tasty with middle eastern influences and high quality. All in all a great evening in a great location! 😀👍
B. A.
A proper treat to visit either the gallery or the cinema.
Their most recent film seasons have had a great selection of movies.
a. s.
The ambiance and decor in HOME is great, and definitely provides a great catalyst to draw people to its cinema and theatre.
The food is a solid 4 stars (plenty of veggie options, awesome!), as are the cocktail and drink options. They certainly aren't award winning or an amazing deal, but they're also not excessively overpriced, and do offer decent servings and good flavours.
My only real issues are that service levels are unreliable: I've had some great staff, but others who really struggled with a busy evening or the level of service I was expecting. Seems especially grating when you have poor service at the ticket office, average service for dinner, then great service at the bar. This is something that can be trained out though, so I hope to see it improve over time.
A. C. L. R.
Nice place to have drinks and enjoy a movie!
h. “.
Beautiful venue but the signage to get around inside is pretty confusing to navigate. The seat numbers in the circle are on the fronts on the seat base, and you're stood well above, so it took some searching as only the row letters are visible at first glance. Exiting the circle level is as confusing as the entrance to it, the lift at the exit is staff only, but the sign is too tall to see ♿ , and the lift you entered from isn't immediately visible while having no exit signage.
It is a beautiful venue though with an absolutely fantastic range of film/events.
S. G.
Excellent space the David Lynch exhibition was amazing. We were given a free illustrated guide and entry was free. We had come for a Q&A and film preview so this was an added delight. Well thought out space and interesting things to see. Thoroughly impressed.
M. B.
Excellent cinema. Large screens in small rooms almost like home. Reasonable selection of international films. So pleased to have this place. It also has a lovely bar, restaurant, theatre and art gallery. Parking nearby can be hard but hey Ho it's in the city centre so.....
C. E.
I adore HOME. The atmosphere is great, the café, bar and restaurant are all great, especially the food. The cinema there is exceptional, showing loads of smaller indie and arthouse releases as well as some bigger films too. HOME is the kind of place every city needs, and I'm so glad we have it.
D. H.
Lovely lunchtime atmosphere. We had a really nice meal here and a few pints! Pleasant staff
D. S.
We just had our second outing to the cinema here, and we've had such a great time on both occasions. The theatres are intimate yet have sufficiently large screens. The film listings are varied, and the second-floor bar makes for a nice venue to converse post viewing. Overall, I would highly recommend for cinephiles and casual movie-goers alike, and I hope to experience all that this arts centre has to offer.
p. C.
Great independent cinema offering a large selection of films and events. Many films shown here cannot be found at regular cinemas, giving a great opportunity to film lovers to try something unique. Recently visited an event on short film funding and loved it. Not only was the talk very informative, but the guests came into the bar area to chat to us on a more personal level. I also find their coffee to be very nice too.
M. G.
My favourite place to go. The staff are always pleasant, informative & helpful. The food is excellent and the films are usually intriguing, insightful and are far more enjoyable than those on offer in mainstream cinemas. Only visited the theatre twice Uncle Vanya and a children's production, both were excellently produced.
A. M.
Really interesting place. Lots of different screens showing a variety of current and older films. I've not eaten there but the various restaurants and cafes look and smell great. Lovely, central location a few minutes walk from Deansgate train and tram stations.
T. A.
Great theatre space and very affordable prices 👌 be back soon
C. T.
Stunning, so happy that the re-invented Corner House is so wonderful. Exhibition was great, staff were kind, and our meal was perfect, apart from the very dull pudding menu (more at home in a cheap local chain pub.) However, the starters and mains were so frankly gorgeous it didn't matter as much as maybe it should have done!
E. C.
Very safe feeling. Well looked after. Food delicious. Vegan fried 'chicken' and chips, delicious salad and espresso martini rivalled my own ,and that's saying something!
K. S.
Great place to watch a film, have a drink or have a bite to eat. The £5 student cinema tickets on a Sunday are really good value for money. They have a good mix of mass market blockbusters, independent and foreign films to watch.
The screens have comfortable seats and good picture and sound quality.
My friend and i had Sunday lunch in the attached cinema restaurant. I had the roast beef with all the trimmings which was reasonably priced at £12.50. The meat, roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings were tasty, but the broccoli and carrots were too hard for my liking; they needed to be cooked for longer. The service was good.
S. L.
Really enjoyed my meal and Home beer in the restaurant before the film TRUE THINGS .. perfect!
T. M.
Popped in here for cup of tea. Very chilled atmosphere on 1st floor. Staff very friendly.
Notes from a wheelchair:
Easy access into building
Low level buttons in lift
Disabled loo spacious. Bring radar key.
M. D.
Friendly place with great staff & interesting customers! Cinema (6 (?) screens), theatres (2?), art gallery, bars and restaurant.
J. W.
Went to see a film here, the film was terrible but I can't fault HOME for that. Staff were very informative, friendly and it has I pretty decent bar, also plenty of places to park a bike if that's your travel preference. It's a great piece of contemporary architecture if you're into building porn like myself as a plus.
J. G.
Great place, come here to eat, drink, meet friends, see live theatre or cinema. A buzzing atmosphere at weekends and excellent service throughout.
d. f.
HOME is a strange old place, a multi faceted arts hub...but it isn't really the sum of its parts. The cinema shows great indie and art house films, and as such is a much needed in Manc. The theatre side has some great festivals and the studio space has great rising stars of the theatre world. However the food is a bit pricey, and the gallery space is a bit of a non-entity for my money.
J. D.
Lovely polite staff and a really pleasant ambience.
The only negative was that the coffee booth on the same floor as the cinemas was closed and they didn't even sell popcorn which is one of the healthiest low-calorie snacks around.
I had not been to a cinema for ages because in this country some cinema-goers can behave in a loutish and indiscreet loud way but this Home cinema is a breath of fresh air. The seats in the Marina cinema screen room were very comfortable and it was air-conditioned.
I'll be frequenting this venue again for sure!
D. H.
I’m a regular visitor to Home mainly for the films . The theatres of which there are 5 are comfortable and have ample leg room for my 6ft 2inch body . They present an eclectic mix of films, many foreign , always interesting to see what the out of mainstream directors are producing , all right so some can be a bit of a trial, but in the main curiously satisfying. The restaurant serves a decent quality of food from a reasonably varied menu, it is not haute cuisine but then it does not pretend to be, but it is decent food well cooked in pleasant surrounding and at fair prices.
B.
Google told me to review here even though I didn't go in, I only walked past. It looks lovely though and I'm sure it's a great place to watch movies
S. P.
What can I say about this place?!
The Bar - has this real artsy Manhattan vibe going on, but not in a pompous way, just super easy going. Those windows/doors that open up to the square when the weather is great is just stellar.
The restaurant - Fair pricing, stunning contemporary layout, the team don't over do the service which is good; they are well mannered, give you what you want and don't hound you. Super respectful, when ultimately you are there to sit with your nearest and dearest to eat and not to be overly sold to.
Upstairs bar/terrace - small haven above everything, nestled away for a little more of low key feel and they've got a beautiful events space.
V. S.
Been there for a coffee and I have to say it was really nice, also considering a silly Starbucks close to it. Really loved it, also had a slice of chocolate cake but the frosting seemed to be out of a sachet and not made from scratch. Had a flat white and a latte but paid the same price despite the flat white came in a smaller cup. A few things but the coffee was really nice
L. T.
A great place to watch shows. It was our first time there and it was really nice. Great seating layout, plenty of leg room, nice size. And we were lucky and git a free upgrade on our seats. Woukd certainly come back again
R. M.
Just been to see the Charlie Chaplin film The Kid,accompanied by The Manchester Camerata.Brilliant.
A. G.
Very impressed by the food and the choice of beers. Had a wild mushroom and artichoke pizza and Beaverton beer.
G. H.
I'm not from Manchester but was in the city for work and met up with a friend for lunch who suggested HOME. It's a really lovely venue, bright and spacious with big windows and a lovely atmosphere. It was pretty busy for a Thursday afternoon but we got a seat and both had salads. They were delicious. I'd definitely return.
R. T.
Been many times and very impressed with sound system and seat comfort. An Art cinema which gives the big cinema chains like Odeon and Vue a run for their money. Equally theatre at Home is always a great experience.
A. D.
Watched an amazing play by Javaad Alipoor
j. s.
To be honest the bar here is fine but whether your visit is positive depends what's on and what you like. David lynch exhibition much better than expected. Another exhibition earlier in the year I didn't like at all. I do think it's good having various options under one roof and I probably would visit more often if I lived in Manchester.
G. W.
Food was amazing, and the lunch time deal is exceptional value for Manchester
J. C.
This is a theatre, cinema, bar and restaurant complex opened in in c. 2015. This review relates to the first floor restaurant which I visit regularly. The menu is eclectic with plenty of choices for all tastes (veggie/fish/etc), and is very reasonably priced for top quality food. The service is always fast and friendly - I have never been disappointed. Good beer choice too. If you ever ate at the nearby Cornerhouse cinema complex, which this replaced (along with the Library Theatre), the menu is very similar (probably larger), but the surroundings are much more spacious. Online booking works well - a great choice for a meal/drink before the cinema/theatre, or before a gig at one of the many nearby venues such as the Ritz.
K. V.
Great city, great food! Getting around is easy by foot or public transportation. Go to the museum's (People's History Museum is a must if you are interested in the history of Mancunians) and the Northern Quarter. We stayed in the Potato Wharf area and saw tons. Love this city!
G. o. G.
One of Manchester's finest places for world culture in the arts.
E. D.
Only a brief visit for a free exhibition and hope to return in future to find out what else is on offer at this impressive site. This modern building is conveniently located close to a railway station and within easy walking distance of local tram stops. The toilets were clean and offered sanitary products for females as well as the option to use gender neutral toilets. I also loved the contactless donation point that was a pleasure to use. With theatres, cinema screens and a restaurant as well as exhibition areas this is a bright and modern arts centre with a positive ethos towards the environment and other human beings.
A. K.
The high reviews say it all. An excellent addition to the Corner House. Was moved so deeply by the Jewish film festival q&a documentary. It featured the refusenik Nathan Sharansky. This is a tragic story with a happy ending. Everybody in the audience seemed moved by the harrowing content. Lovely modern space and good cafe bar. Friendly staff.
D.
Great place with cool events
S. D.
If you are looking for a more niche cinema experience than this is the place for you. There is always a diverse range of films, also the coffee is top notch!
D. G.
This was a new find for me. Great theatre and cinema. Sometimes showing foreign films. With keeping a look out for the diverse theatre productions and films. There is a bar and food is available. If it's a fine day you can sit outside. It's situated in a very pleasant square where there are numerous restaurants to choose from.

If you like culture, film, theatre, art, diversity, good food, cool decor, fine wine and more, Home is the place for you. Their Real Deal Monday, Tuesday, a film, pizza and a drink for £16.00 is a great night out with a friend. Membership gets you 20% off your tickets, food and drink, the shop, first invite to events. Love this place.
E. T.
Not as good as the cornerhouse because it feels less community orientated for artists and film buffs. It is more geared around people who wanna eat pizza now. Cinema screens are better though and selection is good. Bit expensive.
M. M.
Nice cinema with comfortable seating.
M. R.
Nice vibe. Good eating spots and quality booze if you're into that sort of thing
A. B.
It's really lost its atmosphere since moving to HOME and feels like a much more corporate venue. I don't feel as comfortable and also feel priced out of a lot of the food and drink options.
The whole building is interesting architecturally but lacking in a sense of warmth and welcome. Perhaps it's too cavernous, or just needs 30 years to sink into its foundations and feel 'lived in'. Hopefully it'll get a bit more character and become a place I want to spend more time. I didn't think I'd miss Cornerhouse so much!
B. M.
I went to see Drag Becomes Her and it was a fantastic show. The entire place is clean, well laid out, seats are comfy, staff are friendly, drinks aren't ridiculously priced... would definitely go again!
A. T.
Brilliant hot n' spicy pizza. Can be issues with the soft drinks (carbonated) . If it's duff tell them and the will refresh. Otherwise, chilled vibe and good guest beers. Oh, and there are films too apparently...
T. M.
Good restaurant for meal and drinks before film begins. No snacks on sale so no mess left in cinema and fewer young kids in attendance
m. w.
Was a wonderful experience. Lovely to go to a cinema and not have to worry about oiks spoiling it! Will continue to go to see other films here. 🤩
C. M.
Always interesting plays. Theatre's small and good view of stage. Go early or stay late and enjoy a great meal. Visit the attached art gallery. A worthy replacement of The Corner House and Library Theatre. You could also go to see a film in fact make a day of it,I do.
S. P.
Love the atmosphere and the choice of films, cafe and bar are great, terrace is beautiful... But the seats can be very uncomfortable in some screens. Still well worth supporting but wish they would improve this - lost them a star
J. H.
Wonderful place.I miss it terribly. Friendly staff and ambience. I do hope the tragedy of Brexit will not mean that Films part and joint funded by the EU Cultural fund will not disappear entirely but I expect they will.
G. T.
It's always a pleasure! The cinemas can be quite small and fill up fast - book early! Have been to a number of great theatre shows. Haven't been too enamoured with the art exhibitions so far though.
A. R.
Really nice staff! Great atmosphere, ground floor bar and outside seating serves food also, 1st floor restaurant really nice and has great selection of food. The Tostada is amazing and comes with manchego cheese too, really enjoy the coffee here and they offer takeout on food and drinks too!! Bar managers are great!
M. A. F.
If your looking for a night of creative stimulation there is no better place. HOME is an amazing place to hang out and meet creatives, a great place to have some food and a great place to watch movies and theatre.
Amazing atmosphere and internal and outdoor space for a quite drink also. Cannot recommend this place enough.
C. S.
Great venue would recommend
T. H.
Amazing place we went to see Hedwig and angry itch. We also got food brillant food :) so welcoming we back soon :)
C. F.
Love this place! So much art, theatre and film to choose from but also a great venue to just hang out in the bar or restaurant. Fab outdoor area too - always a relaxed vibe x
K. L.
Absolutely love it here. Perfect no matter what time of the day, breakfast lunch or dinner. Such a good atmosphere and amazing food. Cannot recommend a trip here highly enough. Very comfortable cinema seats.
A. E.
Incredible venue! My two passions in life are eating out and going to catch movies. ALL UNDER ONE ROOF here! Great staff, great food! Incredible theatres.
S. W.
I really liked HOME. The theatre space (I went to Theatre 1) was lovely & a perfect size. The food was great - I ate on the ground floor but I was disappointed that the food was served in throwaway containers despite the fact that we were eating in. I think it is too wasteful - all that packaging (and cost to HOME) could be avoided by using real plates!
F. E.
The book shop is tiny. They missed a trick here when they did the refurb/move from Cornerhouse. The cinemas are great but the art gallery is too small.
p. g.
Been here only once for the cinema and my experience was fantastic. The lovely staff at the desk made sure my visit was a good one, the woman at the front desk had a friendly smiley face and was genuinely positive. Made me feel welcome.
It is a very nice looking building with theatres, cinemas and a restaurant. When I got to the screening, it was quite warm, cosy and packed.
Only visited as it was the last remaining cinema to show a particular film I was interested in bit normally would go to Vue or Odeon as this shows mainly indipendant films. Would love to go back
H. S.
Amazing place, great venue for viewing things at the theatre. Also usually always a brilliant exhibition of art on and generally one of the most aesthetic theatres I have been too. It beats a lot of venues I've travelled and worked with nationally. Even the restaurant is on point here
P. D.
Went to see a theatre show. Had a meal first. Great food at good prices. Theatre seats were comfortable with good sightlines and great acoustics. 5 cinema screens with wide range of films. 2 theatres with great shows. Multistorey Car park next door with discount for HOME visitors. Highly recommended.
J. N.
Here to see This is the Kit. Restaurant was excellent. Venue great. In upper circle but views and sound very good. Band was average, songs OK but they need a new sound engineer. Support acts excellent.
C. L.
Vibrant and friendly with a varied cost effective and delicious menu.
P. K.
Hands down the best arts and culture venue in the North West. World class theatre, a beautifully curated cinema programme, as well as exhibitions that rival any gallery in London. The food is top notch and it's a great place to hang out with friends for a coffee or some late night drinks.
G. L.
We only had coffee at the bar, but it was well stocked up with alcohol too
E. T.
Great range of films, good range of good and drink in the restaurant. You can order from the restaurant menu and eat it as a take out in the downstairs bar, if they have no space in the restaurant.
Lovely staff.
S. W.
Wonderful venue with great selection of independent films shown in their cinema, and really nicely looked after screening rooms. There are plenty of places to sit down whilst you're inside the building, whether or not you're buying refreshments.
J. L.
Bit pricey but an excellent setting and relaxed service and environment, ideal for first dates, old friends and lovers. The vegetarian selection is better than most. The views from the window seats is worth it but can be a little warm on sunny days.
N. A.
Great bar and restaurant inside. Always got interesting films on and for a good price. Good facilities and outdoor area. Never been to play here but they seem to have lots of great stuff on. Generally a good vibe.
L. M.
What an amazing place! A beautiful building, great food and a fabulous cinema. On Mondays and Tuesdays they do a deal on cinema, pizza and a drink for £16.50pp I think! You can’t get much better for a full evening out
M. M.
Really is a top quality facility for the arts. Not only cinema, but a great restaurant on the first floor concentrating on pizza and such, but a great bar on the ground floor doing similar but also offering four cask ales. The house beers are from Silver Street Brewery in Bury. Highly recommended.
J. R.
I just want to put in a really good word for the girls that were on the doors at the 6 o clock screening for La Haine tonight. I have PTSD and had to take my mask off when coming up the stairs and began having a panic attack. I came to them and told them and they were just so so sweet about it. I then had to leave the film pretty much as soon as it started because I couldn't calm down and they were honestly the sweetest, loveliest girls. I was so grateful they were there and have rebooked the film simply because I want to give HOME more money! Please tell them what a great job they're doing. Also the food is AMAZING at the restaurant and our waiter was wonderful.
P. D.
Very pleasant staff, really comfortable seating in the cinema. A thoroughly enjoyable evening watching The Souvenir which was followed by a Q&A with Joanna Hoggan and the supremely talented Tom Burke. We'll worth a 3 hour journey from the north east coast
A. L.
Went to watch a film here, very snug and cosy cinema without being miles away from the screen. Clean and tidy. Has bar and restaurant facilities but didn't try them though it looks as though the menu is quite extensive. Well worth a visit and reasonably priced.
S. F.
The best cinema/arts space in Manchester. Great bar selection 😀
S. W.
Great atmosphere for sitting back and watching the world go by. Coffee isn't bad either, quite nice and reasonably priced
U. S.
Love coming back, especially for the vegan pizzas! It tends to busy on a Friday night so booking a table is recommended. The Reel Deal is great too.
Independent movies are shown there a real treat for indie movies lovers.
In short, best vegan pizza and cinema in Manchester in my opinion.
j. o.
This theatre has a great feeling of involvement in the size and layout it has. No matter where you sit you are close. Will definitely come here again. The vibe around the venue is also great.
B. S.
I visited the gallery only. A pretty flashy building but the art on show had plenty of substance and was very moving (Emma Smith). The curation of the show was impeccable.
The fellow watching over the exhibit was also very enthusiastic about the art which always leaves a positive impression.
A. L.
It's a modern and impressive place for culture, Film, theatre and exhibitions; long may it reign. There's bars cafes and a restaurant.
We've eaten and drunk there: All good
We've been to screen 5: Only 36 seats, a cosy cinema for a riveting film
And we've been to the much larger theatre for another excellent film
Close to 5 stars. Recommended.
M. L.
What a beautiful cinema! Staff all round we’re friendly and smiley. Very clean, amazing facilities. Unfortunately didn’t get to try any food as the film finished after they stopped serving but will be trying at some point!
5 STARS ALL ROUND *****
D. W.
Service is generally good and the ambience very nice, but the food is a mixed bag. Baked cod was flavoursome but the HOME fish and chips came with overcooked frozen chips. The fish and home made Tartar sauce were good, so it's a shame they fell down on something so crucial. Another time we had an overly sugary cottage pie (or similar) and stale dough balls. So there are elements that are good but lack of consistency and attention to rather important details that lets the food offering down.
G. H.
First time here, went to see Extraordinary Wall of Silence, which was absolutely fantastic. Gentleman on the door was very friendly and helpful as was the young lady in the ticket office and the lady distributing the leaflets. Would definitely visit again.
J. W.
Love this place! To me it has everything you need to relax: bars, eaterie, theatres, cinemas, gallery and shop.
Facilities are minimalist rather than plush, very eco conscious. Extremely varied programme of performances in the theatres and cinemas. Film screenings are often accompanied by Q & A sessions.
Bar service is good with a wide range of drinks, eaterie is informal and reasonably priced for city centre dining. Consider becoming a member; it's only £30 per year and entitles you to lots of discounts 😊
R. H.
Classic looking theatre room which is great on the eyes, but lacks foot/leg room. Can't comment on the food/restaurant area!
M. T.
A great space ,so much going on,
G. W.
A great venue with good food, drinks and a good place to see a show. Nice outdoor seating and in a lively area. A little expensive. Does sell real ale, though the last few I've had there haven't been good
D. R.
I love just coming here for a coffee and to watch the world go by. Excellent cinema and customer service is also very good.
C. R.
Great cinema!! A very nice and stylish building with a great interior and a beautiful cinema with amazing quality. I must go for family's and friends!
Y. Z.
Had a really nice lunch at the home complex restaurant. The superfood bowl was really nice. Also ordered a cauliflower buffalo wings which was really tasty. The service was very good, the environment is relaxed and pleasant. Warmly recommend.
M. G.
Very Bohemia atmosphere.
Very Arty place all types of people young and old.
From Students to Grand Parents all drinking tea coffee or cocktails etc watching the world go through City of Manchester
Has Theatre Plays cinema but Beautiful food on 2 floors
Many Foreign Films and Films to match the various Calendar ie Gay Pride
National Womens Week
Christmas Jewish India Hindu etc..
Very reasonable prices
M. H.
My first visit to a refreshing & very different venue to others dotted across the city, Live ! theatre as well as films for the more discerning viewer of niche cinema. I was there to see Mike Leigh's "Peterloo" a much awaited must see for me. Definitely a place where I felt right at home....
R. B.
Great venue, with shows, movies, food, drinks, exhibitions and outdoor activities when the weather is right. Ample amount of space to meet up with friends too and grab a coffee and work. Keep an eye out for shows and movies!
L. K.
Great food and bar. Very comfortable seats in many screens
E. D.
Love this place. The cinema is great, and shows both mainstream films but also cool more arthouse films you wouldn't see anywhere else. Also really nice restaurant and cafe, and the theatre shows are great too. Student cinema tickets are only £5 too so would highly recommend.
J. B.
The best in theatre and cinema under one roof. Excellent staff, value, food+drink and programming. Become a member and make substantial savings on ticket prices and priority booking for new season shows and popular events. Highly recommended venue.
A. H. (. M.
Very good venue, went to a matinee. Nice theatre.
J. L.
Overall just brilliant, great food, staff and films. Can't go wrong with an after noon or evening trip here.
E. P.
Home has the best accessibility situation of any venue in manchester. They make you feel like Accessibility is super standard and something that should be expected x
M. C.
Really enjoyed our night out watching the show Red riding hood and the wolf, excellent performance
E. J.
I'd never been here before and then found myself there twice within a week Once to see Lindisfarne during the Manchester folk festival and to hear Ian Rankin discuss his latest inspector rebus novel. Staff very courteous and the venue small but comfortable. both of the events were good value for money
J. D. A.
Great venue with a superb team of staff. Check out their website for what's going on.
A. H.
Friendly service and a great atmosphere. Serves a good range of drinks. Brilliant place to watch a film, always feels more exclusive than large cinemas and very comfortable.
J. G.
This is a great venue for food and a drink. The style of the interior is superb and the massive windows make it feel like you are out side. The staff could be a little more attentive but the service is usually fast enough. If you want great views of Manchester, make your way up to the top floor of the multi story carpark.
C. M.
Enjoyed Nomadland and enjoyed going to the cinema again. The restaurant seemed to be behind the curve. It is some time since I've been served a cold espresso!
J. J. (. W. U.
I didn't even know this place existed. Lots of theatres, great food, bars, just a brilliant night out. Also reasonably priced parking in nearby Q Parks. I will definitely go again.
S. W.
I enjoyed going to the Cornerhouse cinema quite regularly, and the move to First Street, along with the Library Theatre Company, to become HOME brought about many improvements to the cinemas: more and bigger screens, seating better angled for viewing over peoples' heads, larger café/bar areas.
The films are usually high quality, from around the world, and HOME takes part in film festivals and other events, often putting on films with a theme/genre. Although you may see some Hollywood blockbusters here, don't count on it, it's not that kind of place.
I let my membership lapse a couple of years ago since I wasn't going as much - I wasn't seeing much on screen to grab my attention, but it's picked up for me again for me and I have since renewed. Membership for £30 gets you two complimentary tickets, and reduced ticket, food and soft drink prices, which is great if you go regularly.
S. H.
Amazing venue - gorgeous design - even of the loos!
Loved the meal and service
Great cinema experience
Looking forward to next visit 😀

This review is for the upstairs restaurant. Extremely friendly service. Tasty chowder, but generally the food seemed a little lacking something, like it was mass produced / chain-like for want of a better description.
T. C.
I work near by so I come here a lot.
I've tried most things on the menu. The food is diverse and always amazing. For first timers I'd reccomend a pizza.
The mushroom stroganoff is also bursting with flavour. The food is very reasonably priced too.
The staff are always attentive, knowable and friendly.
There is not a single point I can do mark them down on, so a totally justifiable 5 star review
L. R.
Home is a Manchester treasure. As a lover of the Corner House I mourned it's closure. However, Home has stepped up to and exceeded the mark..it is wonderful. Home is welcoming, fascinating, great films & theatre and an atmospheric place to have a coffee or a glass of wine. The staff are brilliant and understand their customers, I Love it.. well done all who created & all who keep Home running 😊🤗😎
S. R.
Great show. Always feel welcomed. Lovely atmosphere.
j. h.
Very sociable place for food. Good atmosphere. The pizza I had was rather small and a bit greasy, and had little topping. The base however was very tasty.
S. L.
We went to the cinema here and then had a pizza / pint/large glass of wine in the restaurant using a ticket called the reel deal which cost £16.50. Firstly the cinema was a joy. Everyone there watched the film. They didn't play on their phones or talk throughout the film or constantly go back and to in search of food, loos etc. We then went into the restaurant where we were surprised to discover we could have any pizza off the menu rather than a limited choice. My husband had a spicy chicken one( which truly was spicy) and I had a ham and mushroom. The pizza bases are crispy and delicious and the toppings generous. The staff are very friendly and it was a thoroughly nice way to spend a wet Monday afternoon. Note the reel deal ticket is only available on Mondays and Tuesdays
I. H.
Always our go-to place for a drink or two. The bar on the ground floor is spacious, contemporary but cosy at the same time. The bar has a good atmosphere; it can get busy without feeling crowded and though there always tends to be people coming and going to the theatre, cinema and restaurant it always seems to maintain a calmness. If you're looking for somewhere less rowdy than the bars under the arches further up Whitworth Street South then this is it.
With regard to food, I've only eaten here twice. Once was a takeout style kebab in the bar and once was in the restaurant. The latter was okay, not bad but not great. Though this was a while ago however, and some other reviews seem to highly rate it so I'd be willing to give it another go. The kebab I had in the bar was, on the other hand, delicious.
The cinema is still the gem it was when it based at the cornerhouse, showing everything from little known art house flicks to mainstream movies, even the odd throwback: watching the original terminator on a cinema screen was a cool experience. I haven't yet had the pleasure of going to the theatre here but will certainly be very soon if the rest of HOME is anything to go by.
You could spend a day here filled with activities or you could pop into the bar for a drink or a take your laptop to work with a coffee.
R. K.
Great selection of movies. Just wish we could come out of Lockdown so they could have full capacity. The only cinema that is selling out currently!
A. J.
Great cinema, but wasn't impressed when I asked for two cokes and was provided with two tiny cans (150 ml) and was charged over £2.40 for the privilege! That's just a step too far for me, need more than just a mouthful when you're watching a movie
D. O.
We always have great food here and enjoy the variety of films available. I would love to see a little more variety on the restaurant menu e.g. more choice of sandwiches for lunch time. I can't understand why it is not possible to prepare scrambled eggs in the kitchen!
D. D.
Brilliant space wonderful events.. great staff.
A. H.
It's a nice space. Some of the art exhibitions are too "contemporary" for me. They usually have a really good selection of films on but they don't sell popcorn in the cinema.
m. b.
One of my favourite hang outs in MCR. We are members and adore it! Quality cinema screenings. Interesting gallery exhibitions. Great theatre. Great selection of food & wine too.
G. A.
Not been here for a few months. Have to say it was as good if not better. We chose to have two courses from the main menu ( there is a 2 course plus a drink menu but ......) Anyway, a thin crisp 🍕 was delicious; lots of fresh ingredients between the 3 of us. Two chose to have home-made burgers and the third decided to be good ? and her choice was a mixed salad.
The vegi burger was cooked to perfection,,; putting a bhagi alongside the grilled red pepper was a stroke of genius! The taste was sublime.
The meat choice burger was equally as good; extremely tasty and not greasy as some can be.
Finally, the bowl of salad was divine; healthy and ever so slightly filling ( our cousin was having an early evening meal about 2 hours later and didn't want to be completely full)
Our server ( forgot to ask her name) was very attentive without being pushy. We enquired about various menu choices and , with her suggestions and after listening to our likes and dislikes, made 3 suggestions which were spot on.
All in all a great lunch. We will return very soon.
L. T.
A really lovely place to go. Pizzas, salads and coffee all beautifully presented and the staff are friendly and attentive. The cinemas are carefully designed - superb seats and sound. Great Value Too
R. L.
Adequate for a mid afternoon meal. Good value and interesting stuff on the menu
K. O.
Living in manchester and been to many restaurants. This is my absolute favourite. Going there every time I'm out to restaurant. Delicious food, friendly staff, good atmosphere. And what a large variety of good - for vegan, vegetarian, meat eaters, fish eaters. Yum!
J. B. H.
Only went to the upstairs restaurant and this is a great place. Good for groups with plenty of six person tables available. A menu that suits all tastes and always has a vegetarian option available. A good choice for pre theatre or pre cinema food.
S. R.
Friendly staff. Food order arrived quickly, which was great as we didn't have much time to eat. Friends had pizza and "posh" kebab which looked nice, and I had a healthy Budda bowl containing kale, hazelnuts, peppers, sunblush tomatoes, cucumber etc on a bed of pulses.
T. M.
Excellent place. Staff extremely helpful. Brilliant restaurant with excellent choice of food. Ever changing Films and Theatre choices. The bar also serves a good choice of real ale.
K. H.
Good experience generally - screen, comfort, atmosphere - except for the usual habit at HOME of abruptly slamming the house lights on the second the film finishes and the credits start to roll. Surely 30 seconds of allowing audience members to re-enter reality gradually, particularly after a moving or atmospheric film, is not too much to ask? No other cinema seems to whack house lights on as quickly as HOME, an odd act of what feels like artistic vandalism in a place which is supposedly film-lover friendly.
I. P.
To the nicest staff who made me feel unbelievably welcome, thank you so much. A glass of Prosecco was exactly was I needed after the day I had! 💛
F.
I love this place but....
I really like this place - the art house films, stage plays, the general layout, atmosphere, and of course the staff! This is why I like to support it.
However, the last three or four times I've eaten there, I've left the restaurant hungry after buying dinner 😑
Last night I had the vegetarian shepherds pie - it looks delicious on the menu , and it is by all accounts, but I was still hungry when I finished (hungry enough to have to eat when I came out ). The mash on top was non-existent, and a tablespoon of mushy peas doesn't constitute a side veg portion to me, unless it's fine dining, which this is not.
I've had the chowder (£12.50) and every time it disappoints. It's never very flavourful, which you'd expect from a chowder; more bland white sauce with a few chunks of fish placed on top. The potato cubes and peas far outway the fish content, and for that price I expect more fish.
If you're looking for hearty you won't find it here. 😣
M. G.
Fab! Stylish, contemporary, very close to Deansgate railway station. Wide range range of delicious food, drinks in comfortable ambience. Quality theatre too - just need to gather some friends to share it with :)
A. P.
Cinema and theatre with bar and restaurant. Nice place to go for a drink or some food even if not watching anything. Good wine and the bar does pizza too (or there's a restaurant upstairs if you want a full meal)
G. W.
Nice cosy cinema and lovely restaurant setting. Food decent and nice choice. Prices reasonable. 😀
A. L.
Great for dinner and a movie.
Good selection of independent films and some more mainstream titles.
M. M.
I saw "Future Bodies" at HOME today. The show was great and the ushers were discrete and polite. We arrived early as seating was unreserved and had some very comfortable seats with a great view of the stage.
A. F.
A wonderful venue for music performances. Can get a little bit over filled with people using the lounge for its bar and restaurant facilities which is ok so long as you've visited previously as easy to get lost whilst trying to find entrances. Saw Anna Calvi perform, was fantastic, the light system can create fantastic effects and the acoustics are equal to none! Has been a godsend for the Manchester International Festival and gas excelled as a first class venue for the City.
T.
HOME is honestly such a wonderful magical place. With an events list chock full of theatre, amazing indie films, art exhibitions, talks, workshops and basically anything creative and unique you can think of, it's hard to be bored in Manchester. They have many discounts and events for students and young people. The bars have unique drinks menus (with pricing typical for deansgate) and there is a food menu which has many different pizzas on it, including not one but two vegan ones! Hot drinks can be made with soya for 30p extra. The staff is lovely and helpful.
A. L.
A busy Friday night, girls a table quickly, staff professional, well attentive and courteous. Good drinks selection and the food is good, we just went for the burgers, desserts are worth it to.
D. N.
I enjoy visiting HOME for a variety of occasions. On this one we went to see Blade Runner 2049. A very nice but chamomile tea came in a small cup, not a pot, and the film was screened on one of the smaller screens, not impressive for such a good film. HOME can do better.
C. G.
Has a 1980s inner-city community centre feel, and the staff seem uncomfortable in their roles. This place enjoys prime real estate but doesn't have the volume of customers to justify its public funds.
T. P.
We enjoyed a nice pint before a film. The cinema was comfortable, dark and silent during the film and the pizza was ok after the film. Not a bad Monday evening experience
S. B.
A really exciting space in every way for new art, the food, the cinema spaces and theatre. An interesting space to explore.
E. A.
Have been many times to dine and watch a film great arts venue, super outside area, just have a chat or people watch
My favorite place in Manchester to get culture.
H. C.
Home is amazing. Like a premium cinema or theatre experience, but without an excessive price tag. It's becoming, welcoming, cosy and cute, quaint with a dash of luxury and charm. Have a few drinks before, during of afterwards, with some friends, and enjoy a quiet respectful atmosphere watching a very eclectic choice of entertainment.
J. E.
Enjoyed a gorgeous butternut squash and spinach lasagne with lovely friends. Then after excellent. no pressure service went to see a performance in the Home theatre... Great night out!
A. A.
Gorgeous space, cinemas and theatres. Lovely place to hang out and meet friends. Tonnes of fab events and films. Excellent gallery space and exhibitions. Good coffee, food and beers. Love it
C. F.
Located next to the heart of the city of Manchester in a highly constitutive ambience, perfect place for a Cupa & pastry or a subtle drink with a brunch...
M. C.
Really lovely place, very rustic feel. Saw quite a strange performance that I don't know if I'd see again but the theatre itself was great
M. H.
Great place for theater, or smaller films that don't make it to mainstream cinemas. The food in the restaurant is great and affordable, perfect for a chilled after-work meal. The staff are also always great and welcoming.
G.
Great theatre/cinema. Decent food and drinks from the cafe too.
A. A.
Fantastic place and great atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone who likes food, drink, film and music! Staff have always been friendly, cinema is fantastic and the food is top notch!
W. C.
Fantastic Jewel in the Cultural Crown of Manchester! It's not often I venture up market, as I mostly attend gigs at the usual haunts, Apollo, Albert Hall, Academy complex. I couldn't resist splashing the cash for Manchester International Festival tickets to see the Enchantress, Chrysta Bell, which were inexpensive. As was a pint at the bar! Considering city centre, Yadda,Yadda!
The show was in Theatre 1, and I was in the circle, seat B9, which is pretty central, so good stereo from the immaculate sound system, though it is steep, meaning quite a high angle of the stage. Seating is comfortable, though a larger person may feel cramped!
Everything about Home is quality, staff are impeccably polite, helpful, and all are catered for well, including disabled. All facilities are spotless.
I used the Q Car Park on First Street, the best car park I have used in Britain! I didn't pre book, so quite pricey at £8.80 for the 3 hours or so, but very secure, so would recommend it for convenience to Home and surrounding attractions, which are plentiful!
Well worth putting the glad rags on, and having a great night out.
The gig? Just spell binding, look out for White Horses, too, brilliant! Sorry no photos, of any acts, it wasn't permitted.
I. A.
Always a joy to see a good film with a decent coffee and snack. Love the people who work here too
S. T.
Nice little place. Great customer service and a good choice of refreshments. I didn't realise it was a theatre as it wasn't our reason for stopping here. The Xmas ice rink was located just outside and had a drink for courage before hand.
G. J.
Nice place in a part of Manchester that's being completely rebuilt. We only had food at the restaurant but it's a good space with huge windows and nice lighting. Good selection of food, we had pizzas and beers which were tasty.
S. B.
Best place, in my opinion, to go for a good night of food, drink and entertainment. Staff are great and the selection of films and theatre productions are grand. Definitely recommend it to anyone who's in town.
Y. T.
Let’s separate it to two part. The cinema was good, they always have good shows there. Tried the restaurant on the first floor, absolutely a bugger. £7-£10 a pizza, came really fast but disappointedly, poor quality, not fresh and really dry. I’m not a very picky person but I couldn’t even finish half of the pizza this time. I was joking to my bf maybe they just simply grabbed some standard pizza from groceries then added toppings. Tbh, with this kinda price? I would just go to Rudy’s to have some proper pizza. people if they just wanna grab a drink and chill might be a place for you but not for pizza(as I haven’t try any other food so no judge)

We visited Theatre 1 for a performance of The Flying Lovers of Vitebsk by the Kneehigh Theatre Company. The performance was superb -- as is the theatre. Set in a modern building, the theatre echoes traditional design, is comfy, reasonably spacious (even for those with long legs) and virtually all seats have good views. Very highly recommended.

Not my kind of place. Vast, unwelcoming, a bit snotty. I felt I was too working class to be there. I went to see a film. Great cinema auditorium. The dining facilities I saw looked very clinical, reminded me of a huge cantine. VERY expensive, I wouldn't pay that to dine in that vast clinical snotty environment. The front of house bar was manned by bearded hipsters. My friend bought me a hot chocolate which I think was over £3 for one of those small tea cups where you can't grip the handle properly because it's so small

Love going to the cinema and eating here. Staff around bulding and in the restaurant are lovely, behind the box office, not so much. The last couple of visits the box office staff have been rude and unhelpful, not even a 'hello' when the guy served me, just a shrug and could barely take his eyes off the computer in front of him. Last time my wife had to interrupt a chat between two of them just to get served.
Wish they would install a digital kiosk to collect pre-booked tickets, would be far quicker and save on public interactions for the box office staff.

Great cinema experience. Watched Irishman, thanks for screening. Great atmosphere, been trying to visit for years. Glad I've been, will definitely go again. Recommended.

5 screens, fab sound and screens in all. Worth the wait. 2 theatre spaces and live theatre broadcasts to large screen. Barry Lyndon was superbly presented. Great food and drink. Another Manchester gem, along with the Bridgewater Hall!! Also space for art and installations. Well done Dave and the team.
