I came today for my fast track appointment. Fantastic staff, they were friendly and professional, everything went smooth, great experience.
Now for the down point. The parking was a joke. If a policeman/warden came around here, they would be a millionaire by the end of the day from the amount of cars parked on double yellows. There was even one in the middle of the road. There was a car park, but it was for staff only, with warning signs to anyone else, and there were like two cars in the passport office's spaces.
Why not reserve a couple for customers? You could then fine people, who are not customers, for parking there, and make some extra quids towards your coffee stations and staff christmas do. I was 50p 20p-ing it while I was inside, hoping I don't get fined. Not that I'm admitting to parking on double yellows.
This was probably the one time in my life that I visit the passport office, as I'm sure it is the case for many more people who come here for the fast track service, what an awful experience it would be if we got a fine. The passport office is not exactly the sort of place you'd think to go and park on a daily basis. Would it really hurt to reserve a space or two for customers who have driven a fair distance?
I suspect the cars on the double yellows belong to people who work around the area. If that is the case, a staff only multistory would help, then that would free up spaces in front of the buildings for customers of businesses around the area. It worked well for some businesses in Bristol.

I’ve only the best things to say about the staff at Newport Passport Office.
After not receiving my sons passport and it getting close to his flight date I took the chance and just turned up.
From as soon as I approached the doors the security guards were so kind and really helpful, while we were waiting they even came out with water for everyone.
The lady on the door that took our details was amazing as well, so grateful to her. We turned up at midday and with some more assistance from the amazing security guards and the man who actually handed over we went away at 4.30 with my sons passport in hand.
I have one really happy son and I am relieved for sure.

Had write to say what fantastic service I received last week at Newport. All the staff were so friendly and helpful.
I discovered my passport was not valid being over ten years old despite not expiring until next April.
I arrived at 7.30 am the day of my flight, at 1.20 pm in Bristol and left with my new passport at 11 am!.
I am disabled and on oxygen so if I had missed the flight I would have lost my holiday as it takes weeks to sort all the medical approval needed, my children and my adult daughter were all the airport waiting for me and the relief when I got to join them was overwhelming.

I have no words to describe how lovely, friendly and efficient the staff at this office are.
I travelled 106 miles to try and sort out my daughter's passport as we have a trip tomorrow. And they managed to sort it out, now I'm just waiting for them to call me to collect the passport! All staff are helpful, smiling, offering water in bottles for those waiting outside. Something that really impressed me! I am very grateful and nothing can pay the smile of happiness of my daughter! Great staff & service. We got caught out by new EU rule on issue date on passport and were turned away at the airport. We drove to Newport office and explained situation to security guard on the door as it was a Sunday and office was closed. He was so nice and told us to come back 8am, and ask for him. We did this and got a premium appointment practically straight away. Paperwork was done and we collected our passports 4 hours later and flew out to meet our daughter and her boyfriend who had had to go without us. Amazing service.

Many thanks to all your very friendly, helpful and efficient staff! I discovered my passport would be just out of date next next week when we go on holiday. There were no appointments on your on-line service until after we were due to get back from holiday! So great anxiety and gloom. But I drove 75 miles to Newport on the off chance to be a 'walk-in' and had a new passport in my hand 24 hours later. Brilliant and many thanks!

Having left it far too late to renew my passport I tried to get an Online Premium Appointment. The closest passport centre with an appointment was Newport, over 150 miles from where I live in Surrey.
It was incredibly busy but the whole process was very efficient and the staff were lovely. I was in and out in ten minutes with my new passport in my hand.

I cannot thank Wendy enough. She was absolutely amazing yesterday. I was booked to go on a family holiday on Sunday. When we were checking in at the airport it came to light my passport had ran out. I know crazy mistake but it happens. I had my sons medication in my bag, I didn’t go and neither did my bag. 2 days later I am flying to meet my family. 2 days later I am on my way to be there with my family thanks to the help of Wendy. Although first time visiting Newport, Parked in Asda's car park and grabbed some food at the cafe there. The staff at HM Passport Office were attentive and helpful. I did not catch the Passport Officer's name yesterday,he was so polite,friendly and processed our applications very quickly. We were early ,it was raining, no where to wait. The only downside was, we were told to wait outside!

What a joy to visit a Government department that gets it so right. I was served by Leanne who was helpful, professional and a great problem solver. I wanted to change my name after a divorce to my maiden name, on my renewal of my passport. I needed my old marriage certificate which is taken away on a decree absolute, so didn't have it. It felt like an impossible situation as I was told I needed the original. I had all the other documentation!
Now, Leanne could have been difficult and insisted on a rescheduled appointment so as I could attempt to order another marriage certificate (what a task that would be!?).
I was using the fast track service so as my passport would be accepted on entry to Spain, after the new EU rule change.
I had 7 months left until expiry. The old rules stated that you must have at least 6 months on return from a trip which I would have qualified under this criteria.
The new rules only allow you travel, taking into consideration the terms of the ISSUE date and not VALID from date. This would mean my passport would have been seen as expired to them, but valid to us, so it was important that I renewed.
Leanne helped me. I filled out a legal deed document to tick the box on the change of name, that was countersigned by two witnesses. Fortunately, I had all other documents to prove I am using my maiden name. The renewal component was covered, anyway.
I couldn't have done this without her help. I am truly grateful to her. Thank you, Leanne!
On a practical issue, there are parking spaces adjacent, near Asda, in a residential area. No car parking at the office.

We had a Saturday appointment for 3pm, arrived 10 mins before and were done 15 minutes later. Welcoming staff, lovely premises, excellent service! The new passport should arrive in about 7 days. We parked in the Asda carpark just across the road from the passport office.

I’ve came for my appointment today I’ve travelled from London I was greeted by welcoming security guards they were really nice sorry can’t remember your names if you reading this 😅 I was about 30 minutes earlier for my appointments I had to wait outside for 10 minutes then I was called in just be prepared to wait outside if you arriving any earlier than your appointment.

We needed to renew our passports and change our names due to getting married and were concerned that we'd have to do them separately and might not get them back in time for our honeymoon. After speaking to the helpline (not very helpful) we were everywhere told the passport office "should" be able to do both at the same time. When we got there the clerk didn't bat an eyelid at doing the renewal and babe change simultaneously and we were done in about 10 minutes for both!

Having not heeded the warnings on issue date we found we needed to renew our passports. The only office available was a 450 mile round trip to Newport 10 days later. Unfortunately the appointments were filling up fast and we got one appointment Wednesday at 12.30 and a second at 9.00 next day. Nothing could be done online to get a dual appointment and we were told by the helpline we would have to make 2 trips or stay over or I could collect my wife's next with a letter of authority at the appointed times. Re booking would have taken us passed our holiday. So far so stressful.
Expecting a fraught atmosphere with irate customers having trying to sort online, I couldn't have been more wrong.
When you can actually get in front of real people they were very kind and understanding. It was immediately passed to the manager who made a call and was told, as the second passport was ready for next day if I waited 2 hours I could collect on the same afternoon. 15 mins later I got the second passport. So relieved and can't praise the staff enough.

Waited 10 weeks for a name change from passport office, no fault of Newport passport office at all , due to fly out in a week, so we decided to bite the bullet and get a flight from Edinburgh to Wales without an appointment as the gov website and promised call backs are a joke also. The staff at Newport were absolutely brilliant , on our way home with the new passport and couldn't thank Newport enough. Waiting on an appointment anywhere in UK , find out where it is and go and retrieve it . Good luck.

Rammed with anxious people, be aware that you will have to wait outside in the rain for your appointment time to be called inside as a group. Staff, however, were all very friendly, polite, and efficient.

I sent my daughters passport renewal off on the 22nd July and received it on 29th July. The service was just the standard renewal, I didn't fast track it. Excellent service and so easy doing it all online.

Although receiving my passport has taken me 13 weeks and I have gone through so much stress, I decided to give five star to the Newport office. My application was made 1st week of March and took 13 weeks to receive however we all know that there had been a couple million applications In the first quarter of the year of 22. Therefore, I can’t really blame them but If something was to be Improved I would say getting back to people especially with more qualified staff would have been better. They should also priorities people who have urgent enquiries as mine was a medical problem for my 4 year old son. I am still giving five star though because I decided to rock up to the Newport office 24hours before my flight as I was aware It was printed a week before when I was Informed via a call and been booked an appointment for same day for collection. Trouble was that the journey was 3hours and close of business was In 4hours. I obviously could not make it that day and since it just been sitting there until I traveled a week later. I managed to pick it up in 10mins with no hassle, all staff are extremely polite and helpful people. Just want to thank them once again and want to ask people leaving reviews to stop complaining! I want to question whose who have not renewed their passports and left it so late, because of them my passport took 13 weeks but luckily I managed to make the doctors appointment on time.

Applied for mine and my childs passport on 16th of may had a few issues due to countersignatures finally got one that was approved and my daughters passports is due today brilliant service,

I renewed 4 passports 1 Adult and 3 children and all passports applications were sent to 4 different offices, Hamel Hampstead, Peterborough and Bootle having told it will be a long wait to receive all passports, but Amazingly I have received all 3 passports in 2weeks🥰🥰, but unfortunately Mission court , Newport haven’t even approved my son's passport and we’re on the 3rd week….

We had an 11am fast track appointment today for my sons first passport, he's only three he was wary when we first walked in to all the security and became a little apprehensive however, the gentleman on the desk (wearing glasses, sorry i wouldn't know your name) taking the bags made him feel very at ease asking my son for a high five, he then strut his way through the body scanner 😅 thankyou, its the little things that count 🙂

The Rest Café's directly opposite Passport Office, lovely river walk can be accessed across the road from East Dock Road down side of buildings if you have to wait.
Two cars had parking fines posted on their windscreens Friday 8.6.18, one on double yellow lines + parked on paving Note Newport Bus Services Numbers 40 and 41 drop you directly at the Newport Passport Office. Leaving Friars Walk bus station Stand 13 either 40 or 41 leave on the hour, every hour up to 6pm. No 41 arriving there at 5 -10 minutes past the hour or No 40 at 18 minutes past the hour (circular route)or you can visit Friars Walk shopping mall using the same bus service.

I went to the Newport passport office after having being turned away at the gate to my flight to Disneyland.
I turned up very upset and unsure if they would be able to do anything. The staff were compassionate and caring, even the security guards offered me some tissues (being the first of the day)
They allowed me to come back the next day to apply for a passport. This was done very quickly and I could see that they had gone out of there way to help me meet my family for our holiday together…..I flew out that evening and joined my family in Disneyland.

We applied online and managed to book an appointment to pick up two weeks away which luckily gave us time. However those 2 weeks were still stressful wondering if all would be ok. When I got to the Newport office, I discovered queues outside but everyone was so helpful and kind, from people waiting to the staff coping so cheerfully under such pressure! I saw countless incidents of generosity, warmth and support, with everyone helping each other. The best of humanity in hugely stressful circumstances! Five stars go to the security man outside for the afternoon shift - his quips and jokes really took the heat out of things and helped people, some of whom had been there since early morning. Really hope everyone was successful - staff were doing their utmost to achieve that and I have huge respect for how they were managing the situation.

Drove a long time for a fast track passport application appointment. Needed passport for holiday within 2 weeks.
Free parking nearby at Asda or there are other carparks within a short walk.
I arrived at 10.10am but my appointment wasn't until 10.30am. Was told I needed to wait outside and stood under the canopy as it was chucking it down. Less than 5 mins later a security guard asked if anyone was here for 10.30 appointments and led me through to security checks. Got a ticket and sat in waiting rom. Again 5 mins passed and I was called. From start to finish I was done in 20 minutes and passports arrived 6 days later. Staff polite and understanding too.

Yes, getting an appointment is very difficult, although that is not directly their fault. On arrival there was a rather large que outside, but didn't last long as a few minutes before our appointment all the people for the next appointment time were called in. Then a few minutes to check in inside and more waiting inside. All employees were friendly and helpful and received a great service. 40mins and we were all done.

Travelled to Newport from Scotland with my son on a desperate mission to renew his passport .
Our appointment was late morning which we were grateful for but we thought we would try to see if we could bring it forward when we arrived .
The pleasant guy who greets the clients said he didn't think we could get in earlier but if were willing to come back every 15 minutes he would check for us.
Thankfully there was a gap in the appointments and my son got his passport before his allocated time which then allowed us to drive back north much sooner.
Really appreciated his help as he could easily have said to wait for our appointment which would have been understood.

My appointment was 11.30. As instructed, I arrived 11.20, was allowed in, went through airport type security, was given a printed number and directed to a seat.
At 11.30 my number was called, I was identified, signed a paper, was handed my passport, signed that too, and at 11.34 went out of the building to meet a very surprised husband in the nearby Asda car park.
14 minutes in total in the building!

Breastfeeding friendly waiting room (side room also offered if I wanted). Asda car park over the road is free, and you get a free Ella's kitchen pouch with adult food purchased in the cafe. There is a car wash outside Asda too, you could leave your car here and have it washed while you sort your passport!

I have had the most amazing service from the team at Newport, thank you. I noticed my son's passport had expired on Sunday and we fly this coming Saturday (eek!) The fastest service now available for children is a 7-day fast track and with only 5 working days I went into meltdown! The staff at the Newport passport office were all extremely helpful, slotting me in for the earliest appointment at 8.30 on Monday, it then arrived at lunchtime on Wednesday - absolutely amazing service and super fast turnaround!

My daughter signed her passport twice and could not use that one and was going to Disney land within 4 Days I paid for the fast track service hoping to get it back in time my interview was 8.30 in the morning they were very helpful and told me they would try to get the passport to me as soon as possible. On the Thursday met office issue red warning for snow and ice for the next day so I was getting nervous but on the Thursday afternoon I had an email that the passport had been printed the passport office was closed on Friday because of snow the weekend passed and the passport turned up on the Monday. thanks to the staff who delt with me and daughter what a brilliant service my daughter can now go to Euro Disney with the school.

Realised I'd lost my passport a week before travel but with the Easter hols only managed to get an appointment 5 days prior to going. I was interviewed by Kim and later her manager Lynn who were amazing and did everything in their power to ensure I could travel. They were friendly, compassionate but remained professional at all times.
With their help I am now off to Disneyland Paris with family; 43 students and parents from VSOD. I am so grateful and impressed by the fantastic service on received:)

We discovered that with only 5 days to go before we went on holiday our teenage sons passport was out of date ( I know). We managed to get the only appointment available and my wife was very upset as we were told that it would take a week to renew it. We arrived a tad early on a Saturday early May, parked in a supermarket across the road, had a coffee. There is also parking in the road, but for only up to an hour. We went over within half an hour of our appointment time and was asked to come back 15 mins before appointment time, which we did. Although it's states on the website only one person can go in if you have more than one passport to do. My son and I were aloud into the booth together. Quick service, the appointment took approximately 10 minutes for the both passports. The lady told us as it was bank holiday weekend the passport would be back a week Tuesday. It arrived the following Friday ! I know you pay a bit extra then you would normally but for peace of mind to ensure you have it back in time for your pending travel it's worth it. Directions spot on.

Initial form check appointment took about 5 minutes. Turned up at the allocated collection time a little early and didn’t have to wait and my passport was ready for me. Recently booked a holiday abroad and last Thusday realised our daughter's passport had expired.
With less than a week to go (flying early am 24th July) I booked an appointment on Friday 19th in the vain hope it would be with us on the 23rd July
Believe it was Caroline that dealt with our application when I attended Newport office who tried to reassure me there was a possibility it would be ready but may take up to 7 days.

Rang up to inquire about renewing my passport, all my questions were answered to the best knowledge and I was pointed towards the right direction of booking an appointment. 3 days later I had my appointment and no less than 30 minutes to which I walked in I was walking out with everything completed. Great service here for a fast track 24 hour service. Worried about parking, but be reassured, there's an ASDA opposite that has 3 hour parking free! So, as we were early, enjoyed a cuppa & browse before our appointment. Friendly staff & good security.

Fantastic turnaround for my renewal passport. Sent in on Monday afternoon(15/12) from Cornwall, and received new passport Friday morning (19/12). Exemplary service, pleasantly surprised after all the negative reports I had heard.

After finding my passport out of date the day before I was flying, a Sunday, I contacted the Newport office on the Monday. They gave me the first possible appointment the next day and the 4 hour service sorted out my renewed passport. They were polite and helpful. Be advised that the service does take 4 hours and that downloaded and home printed forms are not acceptable, you have to use the official printed form.In addition my home printed photos were also unacceptable as they have a very slight line across the print. They have a photo-me booth in the office, it took 2 goes to get that right too ( it's not their booth, it's photo-me's booth ) but again the attendant helped me get that right.It's 5 quid for the photos. So if you have an out of date passport ring them, you can't get an appointment on the same day, so like me it will disrupt your flying times.If checking in with BA which I was doing when I found out, they only let you check in 24hrs before take-off, so avoid late expensive shock and check that passport now.
Things to do in Newport while you are waiting: the art gallery which is in the library is very pleasant and has some very interesting work plus a fine collection of tea pots.Some parts of the city are quite grim and grubby but a new shopping centre is opening in November, if you like that sort of thing.

Due to Brexit I had to renew my passport before travelling to Europe on 3 November. I made an appointment at passport office Newport for Monday 14 October. I was in and out within 15 minutes and my passport arrived by currier on the 16 October. Well worth the extra fee for peace of mind.

Cannot park in their car park even with disable badge as people behind were asked to move. Park in Asda opposite and walk over. Don't take too much stuff with you as your asked to empty all pockets and don't take anything sharp. In and out within 15 minutes very good staff.

There is no waiting area inside if you take someone else. You cannot attend more than 10 minutes before your appointment. You will be asked to wait outside or referred to the local Subway!! On the day I attended with my daughter and her baby (who the passport was for) we were 20 minutes early luckily it was dry and sunny last week. Bearing in mind not everyone knows where the office is exactly or if you can park close by. Didn't find the experience a good one. Apparently staff helpful when you get through.

Opted for the one day service. As others have said, it will take the four hours stated. Was booked in for a 10am appointment. Strolled to the local shopping centre, with my laptop and made use of the free wi-fi in Boswells Cafe in the Kingsway Centre. Did some work, had lunch and then went back to collect my passport at 2.30pm. The transport/greasy spoon cafe opposite the passport office is missing a trick, by not having wi-fi, they'd make a bomb, with all those people waiting for passports. As they were processing 441 passports on the day I visited, there's no way they can provide waiting space for all those people attending.
I was glad to see I wasn't the only incompetent fool who had not sorted their passport in time!

Absolutely amazing service! Once i got through the push this and that and spoke to a real person they went out of their way to help me. Regular call backs to keep me updated. And the examiner actually went to the post room to look for a document i had sent in as i messed up the first one. After reading some recent reviews I was slightly sceptical about the customer service. But I must say from the moment I stepped in the building I had nothing but a positive experience.
People are correct, there is no seating in the reception area so I would advise getting to your appointment with no more than 15mins to spare. I walked in 10mins before and walked straight through no problems.

Straightforward, easy to book and pay online. Nearest parking is 3 hours across the road at asda.
Staff were friendly enough and very efficient. I was in the building for less than twenty minutes for each visit (form check and passport collection)

5 star service when I most needed it. If you are here on a 4 hour collection, there is an Asda store and free car park just opposite. If it's a nice day, you can take a 10 minute drive to Nash and visit the RSPB Newport Wetlands centre - free parking and entrance, a nice cafe and shop to browse which is a welcome change from stomping around a boring shopping centre 😊
