A real mixed bag. Firstly the general car park is a little way from the house. Although not busy , it is recommended you book before you go. If you are not a historic house member then entrance fee at £25 is a bit steep. However the house itself inside is superb (less said about the outside the better, though insipid would be a good word). There is some wonderful art, porcelain and furniture in the house. The guides in the room , although few , are very knowledgeable. Let's be perfectly honest the house is the best part, the lake where princess Diana is buried is nice enough , but there are no real gardens to speak of , and very little on Princess Diana. If you are hoping for a shrine to her , you will no longer find it here. There is a distinctly poor gift shop , which seems intent on supplying Charles Spencer books than offering any variety. The cafe is passable but won't blow your mind. In summary , go for the beautiful house as there is little else here.

Lovely house in picturesque well kept grounds, wild deer roaming around and loads of history to the house and family, the island where Diana laid to rest is a nice place for a sit down and to rest and reflect. great day out when it’s open, and Earl Spencer appears for book signings in the gift shop, highly recommended.

Wanted to visit Princess Diana's childhood home so when on holiday we booked advance tickets to see through it. One of the guides, Sarah, was so knowledgeable and friendly, she made our trip special. So much history to this family which I didn't know before. The rooms were lovely to see in all their splendour. Gift shop quite small but worth a visit. Not much about Diana, other than 2 portraits of her and a photograph. Visited the garden too where we went to the pond and island where Diana is buried. Saa the memorial plaques too in a serene, tranquil spot. We visited on a warm day which enhanced our trip.

Just be warned a good walk from the car park to the house, scenic walk, about 1/4 mile. Lovely house lots to see from pictures to ceilings and beautiful furniture. Could have been more guides, but those on hand were great so helpful and knowledgeable. Nice cafe, a bit pricey, again helpful staff. Was the £25 entrance worth it, I would say yes.

This was our first visit to Althorp House and we loved it! The house is in immaculate condition and has some stunning paintings, including a few unexpected contemporary ones as well. The grounds are well kept and the memorial to Princess Diana is quite special to see.
However, we were slightly disappointed to find that the vast majority of the grounds are closed off to the public, it would be nice to have been able to explore a bit more of it rather than just the bit round the lake (which you could cover within 20 minutes at a steady walking pace). Having said that, we still enjoyed our visit, the guides in the house were friendly and knowledgeable, the staff in the shop and cafe were efficient and friendly too.
Just be warned that the car park is across the road in a field, though I think there is a provision for disabled parking nearer the house but check their website for confirmation of this.
A good day out for the family and despite some of the little disappointments, we look forward to visiting again when the house is next open.

Really enjoyed visit inside of house and history very interesting . Peaceful gardens plenty of seats around the lake to sit and reflect a beautiful place. I found the walk from car park to houses a bit long would have liked a bench half way.
T. H.
Beautiful home. Grand estate. Amazing collection of portraits and paintings. Knowledgeable staff available to answer any questions. Plenty of informative history displayed during the tour. Sombre moments spent at the Lady Diane memorial. Highlight was having Earl Spencer sign a copy of his book " The White Ship"
P. H.
I was looking forward to looking at some of the many masterpieces in this house. Unfortunately whilst Mani were in display the rooms were frequently roped off so I was unable to see them easily.
Most of the grounds are not accessible either. Obviously the lake is accessible and has a number of benches to sit on.
There are few benches situated elsewhere in the grounds.
The Stable Block now has a cafe with rather expensive food and drinks

A beautiful house that somehow seems keen on downplaying its connection with Lady Diana? Still a worth while visit but it seems that there are a few missed opportunities, also around catering and the gift shop? I am a captivated audience ready to spend some money, yet there are only low value items for sale - make me spend more.

We visited for the first time on August 27 2022 using our Historic Houses membership and although we had a great time there were some slight negatives.
First, the good points:
The house is amazing, stuffed with beautiful art, architecture and furniture. It is wonderfully kept, without any dust, dirt or damage (aside from a few cracks) so you can see that it's well looked after. The staff were friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic. We even saw Earl Spencer himself in the gift shop signing books and having photos taken.
The toilets are clean and well maintained, the gift shop was pleasant and had some beautiful items. We ate in the Stables Cafe, which had plenty of options (including vegan!) even though it was late in the afternoon.
After all this, it feels a bit mean-spirited to sound like I'm complaining, but it's only fair to let people know the facts.
We arrived at the main gate (as directed by a sat-nav) to find them closed. We weren't the only ones, as other cars full of confused and frustrated people arrived! The public entrance is a couple of miles down the road, which we eventually found.
Next, the car park is in a field opposite the public entrance, which is fine, but then it's a lengthy walk to the house from the ticket office - this was ok for us, but had we taken an elderly parent they would not have managed this on top of walking around the house and grounds. Unless you have a blue badge allowing you to access the disabled parking are, you have no choice. Also, public access to the grounds is limited to a small wooded area and the lake where Diana is laid to rest. We were a little disappointed that we didn't get to see more of the estate.
Signs everywhere saying "no entry" "private" and "keep to the paths" felt a bit unwelcoming but I can understand them as many people don't discipline or control their offspring.
However, overall it was an enjoyable day and we'll definitely go back (although it isn't open much throughout the year!)

Princess Diana's burial place is beautiful and very peaceful. The house is full of art. A mixture of old masters and modern pieces which are very thought provoking.
S. P.
Been on my bucket list for a long time to visit Althorp. A beautiful historical family home with a touching memorial in the gardens to Princess Diana. Well worth the visit
D. L.
Beautiful example of an old country Manor estate. Still a private residence. The art works are truly mind blowing dating back centuries.
C. D.
Visited the estate, house and grounds. Charles was signing books. Very personable. Beautiful estate and a lovely memorial to Diana.
w. m.
Lots of art and interesting priceless artifacts. Incredibly peaceful gardens and it was humbling to see the resting place of Princess Diana.
M. P.
Well preserved manor house. Best place to bring children and have picnic. Great for outdoor fun like walking around estates. Terribly interesting and we have a great weather. The staff are all lovely and knowledgeable. Well worth a visit.
V. B.
This is an amazingly beautiful place, I went on my own as I wanted some peace and tranquility..... And I found it! My photos don't do the grounds justice, especially Diana's lake! Staff are friendly and helpful. Only two negatives one was that I didn't think that there a great choice of food in the tea room, especially savory food, but this could be because of covid restrictions. There is a lovely picnic area on the other side of the court yard.. Which is set in a lavender walled garden. The other being only one lot of toilets, which is by the picnic area... But if your disabled it's more of a problem as the grounds are vast. All in all this is a fantastic place to go for the day.... I ran out of time and didn't even look in the house.. So I will be going again very soon 😁
C. A.
Feel something different from other tourist attractions, Ancestral home of Lady Diana and her memorial grounds.
M. D.
My partner and I really enjoyed the visit. 14/7/21 Staff were very knowledgable and friendly. Weather was lovely so it made the walking around the grounds even more enjoyable and so peaceful. The stables/ cafe lovely touch. Prices were reasonable. It was a pleasure to meet Andy as we were leaving. Worth every penny. We would like to thank everyone for making a day very enjoyable . Kevin and Michelle
P. S.
Astounding grand house. Interesting architectural history. Overwhelming art collection - 99% portraits. Rubens, Lely, a Gainsborough… overall a beautifully kept house. Really charming, helpful staff. You’ll need 2 hours for the house.
M. N.
Superb level of knowledge by the guides. The house is rich in treasures, especially paintings. The walk to the House is enchanting, as is the walk to the lake where Diana lies in peace.
D. H.
Beautiful house and grounds , bit limited in the cafe buy I suppose the house is only open for a couple of months so not surprising. Very friendly staff and well kept grounds and gardens, saw a large herd of deer .
Lots of wonderful art and porcelain in the house not to mention the furniture.
One small downside Diana's grave is barely visible from the edge of the lake , maybe deliberately however if the greenery was trimmed back a bit , photo ops would be much better and people would appreciate.

Visited today 18th July 2021 (my birthday)..and it was beautiful, peaceful and tranquil...
The grounds are immaculately kept.
The most beautiful part of our visit for me was when we came across the resting place of HRH Princess Diana..it was absolutely beautiful ...with 1000s of blue dragonflies dancing inbeween the reeds on the lake and pretty water lillies framing the little island where she rests..
We also went into the house which was extremely interesting..with 100s of paintings of the Spencer family through the generations.
The staff were very friendly and informative and clearly love working there..
Bill in particular was lovely to us.
Thank you for a spectacular day!!
J. F.
Lovely quiet place. You can sit by Diana's Island. Walk around it.
Visit the house. See 500 years of history. The people who lived at Althorpe. Exhibition, I believe changes. Also told, if Charles Spencer is home. He comes to say hello. He wasn't home for us
A. J.
A pleasant half day out. House is well looked after and the gardens were quiet and peaceful. Well worth it, but beware the extensive walk from the car park. Disabled badge holders can get closer to the house. Aim for the west entrance if travelling by car.
C. W.
Althorp has been the home of the Spencers, the late Princess Diana's family, for more than 500 years. It's currently the home of Princess Diana's brother, the 9th Earl Spencer and also the site of the Princess's grave. The family opened the house, including a lake and an island and surrounded by a 550-acre walled park, more than 50 years ago.
We had a pleasant tour of the house and its well designed rooms. It is one of the more elegant of our stately homes. Relaxing snd charming without being too ostentatious.
In the stables there was a whole wall of Books of Condolence for Princess Diane. They were from countries all over the world, the armed forces, hospital all walks of life.
The grounds are lovely and the walk around the lake leads us to the Princess Diane memorial. Princess Diana is burried on the island in the middle of the lake.
The area by the lake feels relaxing and calm. Jim the Peacock befiends you and then tries to steal your lunch.
Really lovely day out in the sun. Staff are friendly chatty and helpful.
L. B.
Such a lovely day out.
The house and grounds are amazing and the staff are so friendly and informative, everyone goes above and beyond to make your visit really special.
We will be back and can't recommend it enough.
T. N.
So beautiful here only think is it not that easy if you're in a wheelchair a part from that is so lovely
A. S.
Beautiful place to visit and great guides to answer any questions - would highly recommend this stunning place for a day out 😊
D. A.
Staff were very helpful, particularly a gentleman called Andy.
The only disappointing thing about the whole day was the very limited food.
Well worth a visit.
Also the postcode doesn't take you to the entrance so follow the brown signs.
M. E.
Long walk from car park to house. Free car park. Cafe small but good. Gift shop staff very helpful. House and grounds are worth the visit. Tim the Peacock very friendly which the black cockerel was definitely not :-)
Q. H.
Went to visit with kids and wife. Lovely quiet place great for photos and a day out. Parking is fine, didn’t get to see house as we arrived late but gardens were nice. Overall nice to visit.
T. G.
How terribly interesting! So much history and yet in a sense it is 'living history' not just the past. History is being created as you meander through the home and gardens!
T. D.
Amazing paintings throughout the house, beautiful gardens to walk around or relax in...or both. A great experience. A lovely memorial for such a special lady.
L.
Wonderful tranquil space to walk around. Beautiful house, gift shop & cafe. Much wildlife from deer to peacocks. Charles Spenser often available signing books on certain days
C. R.
Absolutely brilliant. Fantastic day out. Diana's resting place is a must to see. Beautiful house and lovely gardens. Highly recommended.
M. T.
Visited althorpe today long walk from car park to house . Bit disappointed not much on princess Diane café was very expensive glad I went but wouldn’t go back
P. D.
Nice place to view house needs audio description device s
M. G.
Lovely afternoon spent at Althorp House and grounds. Burial place of Diana, Princess of Wales, was much nicer than l imagined and a very quiet and tranquil place.
L. C.
Beautiful Estate. House is amazing. Lake and monument peaceful. Shame about the long walk from car park could do will a couple of benches to have a rest.
B. S.
A beautiful home elegantly furnished with lots of paintings to see during the self-guided tour. The cafe was reasonably priced.
K. W.
Lovely to see the place where Lady Diana was laid to rest and grew up, you can sit on the benchs all around the lake, the memorial is lovely, beautiful gardens and tea room, courtyard area to sit and have refreshments, saw the Earl who was signing his books in the gift shop
S. O.
I have been to Althorpe House many times, this time l was a little disappointed as there were no dresses or references to Princess Diana. I did however have a very breif chat with the Earl Charles Spencer who was so charming, friendly and thanked me for coming. This made my day even more special.
K. M.
We had a great experience, beautiful house, even got to meet Lord Spencer and a beautiful Peacock. Will definitely visit again.
M. M.
Well kept Estate with delightful views and grounds , house is steeped in history with plenty guides to help you if you need a question answered they also have guided tours at regular intervals , nice to see occasional pics of current family members dotted around too . Not much on Diana though which is a real shame , There are a few exhibitions in courtyard , some mention of Diana here , her condolence books are on display as well as a few pictures of her and her pets. There is a cafe on site which was once a stable for 100 horses and their grooms, food served is mainly sandwiches , soups and cake with hot and cold drinks too , saw deer on way back to car in one of fields which was a nice end to visit
C. W.
What a great place to visit. Guides and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Beautiful grounds and house. Restaurant in the old stables had good selection of sandwiches, cake etc and reasonably priced.
Car park is just before the entrance in a field (wasn't signed when we got there) Blue badge parking is through the entrance.
Thoroughly enjoyable day and look forward to returning!
A. W.
A lovely and well maintained estate, which is the ancestral home of Princess Diana. Only about an hour north of London.
The tour lasted about an hour, and takes place every 30 minutes. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable! Be aware that no photos are allowed to be taken in the house. However, you can purchase a program for a reasonable £5.
Be sure to visit the lake and island where Diana is buried. Also note that Lord Spencer makes short appearances and signs his books which can be purchased at the bookstore. We were lucky enough to meet him today.
The toilets are fabulous - large, clean and numerous. The cafe had a nice, but limited selection of sandwiches, drinks, desserts and soup.
Tip:. If arriving by train, take a taxi to the main visitors entrance, which will take about 15 minutes and cost about £20.
Also take note that there is no exhibition of dresses currently on site.
S. V.
What is amassing place. Here princess Diana grown up in teens age. I was waking around and felt how she was luck to could grown up in this place. I recommended to visit and feel what is amazing place. I just can’t explain my feelings.
S. Q.
After 9 years we finally made it to this beautifully maintained estate for their annual food festival. Spacious, plenty of parking, well organised with stunning gardens and ponds. Poignant and class Princess Diana memorial.
R. P.
Absolutely amazing place. Very old and beautiful trees, a lot os sheeps and others animals. It's a big and peaceful place. I feel a very positive energy on this place. This weekend was the second time that we went there to the Althorp Food Festival and we love it again. The food was good, the sun, the environment, the people, my family and I loved everything there. We invited a couple of friends with their children and they also liked the place, the festival and the day.
For the Festival had a big and free car park close to the food place.
E. E.
Went to a Food Fair was able to walk around the grounds and house. Must say though lots of the pictures were very dusty on top.
Walked around to Diana's island and memorial.
k. l.
Lovely place i visit every August its a nice reminder of princess Diana of where she grew up and its lovely to walk about the gardens and the oval and the memorial to Diana. The estate is wonderful and staff are so nice
M. H.
Such a wonderful place, we hired Althorp Estate for a birthday party and without a doubt - this was a perfect location. Service was top notch, dinning experience was delicious, rooms were comfortable, breakfast was good - especially the harpist.
L. B.
Great ansestral home of the Spencer family. Princess Diana's body is laid to rest on an Island lake in the grounds. The house is open July and August every year. I was supprised how much of the house was open to the public to view. A good day out!
V. N.
Beautiful place!! The Althorp House is massive and have plenty of space and pictures of Princess Diana!! It's also possible to visit Lady Diana's Memorial.
S. P.
We enjoyed a fantastic day at this magnificent estate in July. Spectacular building, artwork and grounds. Very friendly and helpful staff. I would highly recommend a visit.
V. W.
Absolutely stunning place to see. Loved the memorial to Diana. Wished there had been more information relevant to Diana's childhood would have been amazing. Still a lovely day out. Was interesting to read her brothers funeral speech and see footage of the sea of flowers. Went on her 21st anniversary of her death.
A. P.
Thoroughly enjoyed my day at Althorp. Very well organised with knowledgeable guides. The weather was lovely. Had my lunch outside in the stable courtyard. Quiet and peaceful at Diana's resting place.
A.
Beautiful Estate on a sunny day. Spectacular building and grounds. Would like more flowers in the garden but still lovely
C. N.
Gentle stroll around the house and the estate. The guides were one of the most welcoming and professional team I have ever experienced, some of the young lads were a little shy, but once you engage with them they were great!
Was incredibly lucky to meet Earl Spencer as he was doing a book signings, of course he was a complete charmer!
Love the two paintings by Mitch Griffith, I thought a brave choice to have, but truly stunning.
Diana's resting place is elegant, discreet and beautifully kept.
What I admired was the whole house wasn't a shrine to one of its famous daughters, just an elegant nod.
M. R.
A really nice place to go and visit, all the staff are Great, the tour that takes you around the house is amazing and very detailed and the grounds them selves are incredible
Instagram @martynjay for more photos
A. M.
Very nice Mansion. Beautiful interior and Princess Diana’s memorial.
A. P.
This is a must see. The house & gardens are stunning. The lake where Diana is buried is so serene & peaceful. A great day out!
L. R.
Beautiful, interesting, and worth the trip if you are a Princess Diana fan. Her brother is doing an amazing job of keeping up the house, which has so much history, including ties to George Washington's family! The grounds are beautiful. I really enjoyed my day here.
M. A.
Was nice. I hoped there is more details about lady Diana, and more care about her grave. Also, souvenirs for the estate and the lady too. But in general was nice.
M. K.
Magnificent architecture, beautiful grounds and an interesting small museum. Despite throngs of visitors I managed to take a wonderful walk around the grounds and the Princess Diana memorial lake in complete solitude. This was a delightfully serene experience.
The grounds are also festooned with all manner of notable trees including some planned famous visitors....... See if you can find the Oak planted by Nelson Mandela during his visit in 2002.
The estate also has great facilities (even the toilets are grand!) and a well provisioned tea room and gift shop. I was fortunate enough, due to the time of year, to be able to buy some lovely Venison produced on the estate itself.
a. h.
Lovely trip to see Althorpe House and the beautifully kept grounds.
Was a really good family afternoon out.
I. W.
What a beautiful place to visit the house and grounds are a credit to all the staff that tend them. We went on a Monday so you were allowed too walk through with out been guided, although their were on hand to answer your questions. The stable cafe serves a good pot of tea, sandwich and cake at very reasonable prices.
S. C.
We had a wonderful day , weather was lovely and so enjoyed our day , just loved everything and the gift shop , ❤️ till our next visit, was wonderful:) everyone so nice :)
E. D.
If you take the local bus (96) it’ll drop you at the East Gate. You can’t enter from here. You need to be at the West Gate. It’s a 45-60 min dangerous walk (no footpaths, you’ll need to walk on the road) to get from the East Gate to the West Gate!
R. D.
Very beautiful place, a nice little place to walk around, maybe not for a day trip though.
D. D.
Princess diana tragic death 1997 brought about a period of true national mourning thousands of flowers were laid outside Buckingham palace as the public flocked to pay tribute to the peoples princess however Dians actually final resting place is set away from the public on a small island in a lake in althorp park Northamptonshire uk
I. C.
We visited Althorp Estate for the first time. The food and drink festival was very entertained but not much to do beside drinking and eating.
B. T.
A truly wonderful experience, from staff to the tour and of course the grounds, the tribute to Diana is beautiful, well worth the entrance fee , so if you have a few hours to spare treat yourself .♡♡♡♡♡
j. k.
Beautiful grounds and house. Guides very helpful and knowledgeable.
H. H.
I visited Althorp on Saturday with my sister and a friend.
We very much enjoyed seeing the house and all the marvellous paintings. The staff were all friendly and helpful and answered all our questions.
It was quite a sad experience visiting the Oval Lake knowing that it is Diana's resting place, but still a beautiful and tranquil place to take a stroll.
Later we visited the teashop and had sandwiches and scones in the courtyard, which is a lovely place to take tea.
We met Lord Spencer in the gift shop and he made my friend"s day by signing a copy of the book which she'd just bought!
It was a really lovely day and we would definitely like to visit again.
J. J.
I had a lovely day visiting Althorp House with beautiful paintings and furniture. There were explanations concerning the rooms and the staff very helpful and courteous. The only negative point, was the lack of direction to the lake and Diana's Memorial when we left the House. I would strongly recommend visiting Althorp House, next time I will take a picnic and visit the grounds because I needed more than a day to appreciate this beautiful estate.
M. G.
Serine, tranquil and a wonderful place to visit. Highly recomend!
a. p.
Good half day out. Visiting the house was well worth it. The island in the lake could do with a tidy up. You can see the urn on he plinth making princess Diana's burial place. Plenty of seats around the lake for quiet reflection. Many different species of trees around the oval
F. B.
Beautiful interior with charming knowledgeable staff. Very interesting visit with a well stocked gift shop.
J. H.
What a beautiful, tranquil place. The house is lovely, with detailed history of the family and very knowledgeable staff members. Cafe in the stables is quirky but a bit pricey. Nice picnic area and outside eating area. All in all, well worth a visit.
K. G.
The staff are very knowledgeable, unbelievably friendly, and willing to help with any queries you have.
The cafe has sandwiches, sausage rolls, cakes etc. All was very nice. Plenty of space to find somewhere to sit and eat, with a picnic area too.
The house has a more homely feel, compared to most other manor houses.
It doesn't take too long to go round both the house and garden, maybe two hours.
P. H.
Wonderful day out. The house itself is beautiful and interesting. It is obvious that the Spencers live there as it has a lovely warm feeling about it and isn't simply a museum place. The gardens are gorgeous and so peaceful. And of course there is the Diana memorial and resting place. So wonderfully emotive. We spent a long time just looking at the island in the middle of the oval lake and thinking about Diana and her life. You can't help it. Finally, the guides were so friendly and knowledgeable. They helped make the visit one of the best we have undertaken. Well recommended
G. M.
Scenic estate - tranquil and full of history. Reminisced about Princess Diana's life which was absolutely priceless.
L. H.
A beautiful, historic estate with lovely gardens and a huge stately home full of stunning rooms. Well worth a visit.
T. K.
Pleased we went but quite disappointed with the fact that one of the bedrooms says it was Diana's but apparently it wasn't . An awful lot of walking for anyone with mobility issues. Would have liked to have seen more pictures of Diana as a child with the family so quite disappointed really. Her grave site is so tranquil but nothing there to mark the life of such a beautiful person it seems so sad .The memorial is beautiful it just seems sad 😥
M. S.
Awesome - lovely walks around the grounds and the House - visited the memorial to Princess Diana 💔
L. Z.
Extensive, stunning grounds with picnic area and gorgeous views.
T. O.
I took my Mum on her 83rd birthday and we couldn't have had a nicer day! What a beautiful house and grounds, particularly the lake where Diana is buried.
But also the staff were so helpful and kind to my mum and I. They were also knowledgeable about the houses history. Thank you all!
C. N.
I went because my partner wanted to see Diana's last resting place. It was easy to find- well signposted. We were reminded on arrival that we were GUESTS, but on entering the house we were asked to wear a muzzle. I HATE them, + I think they are useless. I was annoyed. Hundreds of paintings- self portraits and commisioned works, so, are they true representations? They mostly had large hooters which was odd. The staff were all youngsters but they were polite and helpful. The lake is rather restful. The rest of the gardens are unremarkable- barely worth mentioning. The cafe was just so-so. Had to ask for napkins, plus they got the order wrong. Still, they meant well. If you are a royalist.... visit. Otherwise, don't bother.
J. H.
Very pretty grounds and well kept and interesting house to wander round.
Cafe very disappointing with limited food all in a fridge, so cold cake! Take a picnic or visit the Fox and Hounds just up the road afterwards, which was really good and a nice addition to the day.
L. K. M.
Stunning place to visit and see the large collection of historic art, learn about the Spencer Family
A. M.
Pleasant way to spend an afternoon. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Not wheelchair friendly however, despite previous reviews saying it is. Paths are difficult to get wheelchair over, so can't take advantage of the grounds. Cobblestone courtyard also tricky to navigate for cafe. Downstairs is accessible but most of the rooms and exhibits are upstairs. Can't be helped, just a fact of life.
L. H.
Went back to Althorpe House today. Love this place. It's peaceful, beautiful, well kept. The staff are very knowledgeable and polite and respectful towards guests.
Very relaxing and the house is beautiful.
Feels like home from home.
Thank you so much for a lovely day, especially the way things are with Covid, they were totally complying with everything.
Thank you for making my day complete. Feel really relaxed.
S. E.
Very enjoyable, calm and peaceful the Earl has not turned it into an expensive fairy tale theme park, whilst allowing people to see his home. A lovely setting for Diana's resting place.
T. B.
Lovely Estate and really friendly and helpful staff. I thought 22.00 per adult was quite pricey. I hope viewing was restricted due to covid restrictions and quite a long walk from the car park for the older generation to the estate. The House and grounds are lovely but no exhibition of Diana's dresses which was disappointing for me personally. Would I return.... I haven't decided..
L. k.
Enjoyed the visit, lovely walks, calm around lake
J. S.
Myself and husband visited the Althorp Estate today. We had last visited the estate 24years ago.
Having noted today that Diana's resting place appeared over grown.
The monument was hidden from view by shrubs and mature trees. I feel the monument would benefit from a coat of masonry paint. This would enhance the purpose of it being in that location for all visitors to appriciate
this very tranquil and fitting tribute to a very special lady.
T. F.
Fantastic, peaceful visit. Stunning, tasteful memorial to Princess Diana. Staff really friendly and knowledgeable about family history etc. Food in the cafe tasted fresh and delicious. Would definitely visit again!
J. C.
Vast estate with many beautiful trees, never seen so many portraits in one house, very few interesting paintings.
Peaceful and beautiful around Diana's island, but told not to walk on the grass!
J. R.
Beautiful and a lovely day out
Well done Diana's brother for keeping her safe
I. S.
The house is architecturally interesting from the outside, but slightly disappointing on the inside. The rooms are rather less grand than other homes, and there's very little information available to describe what one is looking at. But it's great if you like art-work - there's an almost ridiculous number of paintings on the wall, so art-lovers will be spoilt for choice. For a very substantial estate, very little is open to visitors and, but for the very well-known royal connection, it would otherwise be an anonymous and unvisited property.
A. M.
Definitely worth a visit such a beautiful estate.
J. G.
What a great place, steeped in history.
So much to see,loved it.
S. R.
Had gone there in August 2008 it was a lovely place to see. The staff were friendly and inviting.
I wish I had more time to enjoy the grounds especially the resting place; due to personal reasons I had to rush off home; which took away from the enjoyment of the day.
I am disappointed I didn't get to take any photos, at the resting place of Lady Diana; being rushed for time. Our taxi driver had dropped us off too far from the entrance so myself and my ex had to walk up to it. If you are travelling by train be sure to get a taxi driver who will drop your a good way near the entrance.
All in all a good experience with lovely memories. It would be nice if the ticket prices could be cheaper. The journey to the house was expensive enough.

Nice place to spend a couple of hours.Diana's memorial is particularly poignant.
M. J.
I visited Althorp over the weekend with my family and friends. Absolutely beautiful grounds and garden. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the guides were incredibly friendly. A truly wonderful experience that I would highly recommend to everyone.
P. B.
We try and visit once every few years as apart from Dianas burial place it has such beautiful grounds to walk around in the most gorgeous setting and the house is so interesting with all its history, gift shop and cafe too, all in all a lovely trip and day out, well worth the visit and I've even met Earl Spencer!
J. L.
Lovely place but not really wheelchair friendly. All paths are gravel and hard to push chair.
M. L.
Althorp, what an amazing place, Grand yes, impressive yes, beautiful yes but at the same time, homely, tasteful with a strong family feel. Its a privileged to be allowed to walk around in the foot steps of the people's princess stooped in many centuries of royal history, in the heart of the english countryside. A lovely peaceful setting with a fitting tribute to reflect. Full marks see you again next summer.
J. K.
Amazing rooms and paintings, really helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff but I was disappointed that there wasn't hardly any memorabilia about Princess Diana. I was hoping to see perhaps some of her beautiful dresses (as displayed at Kensington Palace) or even a school report or at least some details about her childhood at Althorpe house but there wasn't any snippets about her life. The speech made by Charles Spencer was on display in the exhibition room and the words were very moving and beautifully written. It was very sad to walk to the Lake where Diana was laid to rest. The little cafe was disappointing, £4.50 for a small scone, a tiny pot of cream and jam and that didn't include a cup of tea. If you go there I would definitely take a picnic. Take a visit to the small gift shop, some really nice things to buy and very reasonably priced.
D. T.
A beautiful and well kept stately home in Northamptonshire. Friendly and knowledgable staff are always ready to answer questions and give details about the house and its adornments.
Some very interesting and lovely paintings adorn the walls. The lake and island are of interest as the final resting place of the Peoples Princess, Diana Spencer.
R. R.
Beautiful place to visit with family
C. C.
I loved everything
m. h.
Really great place beautiful paintings and amazing gardens
R. R.
Somewhere I've wanted to visit for years. A beautiful building with exquisite interiors. An honour to be able to pay my respects to the late Princess Diana too. 100% recommend a visit to Althorp.
L. L.
Very poor signage on roads from Daventry to the estate. Fewer rooms to view than we had expected. Disappointed at the lack of planting areas (flowers and flowering shrubs) on the estate which is prediminantly landscaped with trees and hedges plus the lake which is beautiful. Food in the Stable cafe was very un- inspiring. Extremely dry cheese and pickle sandwich - stale bread. Long life clotted cream with scone - tasted synthetic. Bought an item from gift shop which on closer inspection, once I got home, was damaged. All in all disappointing.
M. H.
Very nice house but the main reason we visited was because of princess Diana. We was hoping to find out lots about her but very little a few photos but on a whole nothing really very disappointed. The lake was very nice and calming place the best bit of all.
M. G.
Really lovely place, hard to imagine Princess Diana grew up there
J. D.
Stunning place. Wonderful experience, specially for those who like princess Diana
M. T.
It's huge guys, it took us 5 mins drive to get to the house, drive slowly as their is livestock everywhere. My contact with the house staff was great. It was only one man but he was professional, courteous and friendly.
A. W.
Expensive for what it is. The house is mostly paintings and all the painting look like the same person, whether male or female and regardless of year. Bedrooms were interesting and Diana's burial.
K. W.
Nice warm family home. It happens to be where Diana Spencer is laid to rest.
I. H.
Beautiful house and gardens, allow yourself around 4 hours to soak up the atmosphere,.
M. B.
We were so looking forward to visiting. The house and grounds are beautiful but felt really let down by one of ‘security’ repeatedly telling us off for breaking rules that weren’t displayed.
We sat on a bench around the lake; apparently we weren’t allowed to eat food there. We had to go to the picnic area. The children were enjoying playing in a slightly wooded area; we were told that they’re not allowed to touch the fallen branches/twigs and should only be on the paths. Again there are no signs to indicate this. The well behaved children were left with some miserable memories. There were a few other similar things that happened but I’ve moaned enough. I really wouldn’t recommend Althorp for families.
S. P.
Great day out. Beautiful house and grounds. Diana memorial very moving.
V. W.
Great place well organised beautiful house
j. p.
Fantastic place the home of the Spenser family for over 600 years and resting place of the wonderful Peoples Princess Diana ...so poignant
S. A.
A beautiful house and estate. Stunning building and exquisite art and furnishings. For me it wasn't just the house, it was to go and be close to Diana.
As with everyone, I loved her dearly and she enriched our lives in a way no other royal can or has.
Extremely emotional for me having met and spoke with her on a few occasions. I got overwhelmed by it all at the memorial.
d. l.
I had a fabulous day here today 15/08/2021
Relaxed beautiful weather
The grounds amazing
I’ve visited years ago and Diana Princess of Wales clothes and wedding dress were on show
Sadly not a lot about beautiful Diana except the burial grounds this time
But I still enjoyed the day and to top it all
Meet Earl Spencer as me and my cousin were leaving
He waved and smiled as he pass us on the way out
My only criticism is that horrid picture of Ray winston daughter so out of place
Please remove it it ugly and not in the right place
I spoke to the guide and ask why is this here it dreadful
They replied they didn’t like it either
It cheap and tacky and does not represent our beautiful Diana and the Spencer’s family
Do you lose a star for tackiness
L. S.
We attended the food and wine festival and had a wonderful day out exploring the liquors and edibles. All to the beautiful and scenic backdrop of the estate. We also had a chance to have a book signed by the Duke. Amazing time!
K. C.
Awesome displays and information. Really enjoyed my visit. However at the time I visited you only had one building representing Diana which was said. Cannot visit the grave.
V. L.
Spectacular house, and peaceful lake with Diana memorial. Reasonable cafe and gift shop in pleasant stables courtyard.
Downsides are only one set of toilets a bit away from the house, and quite a long walk from the car park, although it's nice to stroll through the grounds. Closer disabled parking is available.
L. J.
Excellent, the best stately home visit I have ever made, the staff were really helpful and informative, the grounds, facilities, and the house were really well maintained and immaculately clean, I really enjoyed conversations with the staff who by the way really new their onions! The stables care was so reasonably priced. I thoroughly recommend this to anyone. Please give yourselves time to enjoy. I did. Thank you
A. C.
Very relaxed and peaceful visit
Grounds easy to walk around, nothing too far. Would have thought it fine for wheelchairs mostly gravel paths. However, there are stairs in the house itself.
T. A.
Beautiful staggeringly wonderful gardens ... Not sure about the house which seemed to me to be stuffed with as much furniture as you could get in. But probably I don't understand how the toffs live.
F. B.
I recently had the most wonderful experience, that is Althorp Estate. From the grandeur of the rooms with so much history and elegance to the outstanding fact this is a well loved and lived in home for a family, which is clearly evident. To know Princess Diana grew up here and is now here forever, is just another remarkable link to the Royal Family. The grounds and lake are serene and beautiful. We had the fortunate opportunity to meet Charles, Earl Spencer who obligingly chatted, signed his books and allowed photos to be taken. Fabulous experience in every way.
B. C.
Lovely day, lovely house, interesting history and not over done on Diana. She's there but so is all the Spencer story. Nicely done.
g. j.
Althrop house is a well proportioned attractive georgan country house in a lovely setting. The interior is like a family home and it has a wealth of paintings. Staff were very knowledgeable and helpful.
b. H.
Beautiful house and grounds. Lots of paintings and guides to tell you about the different rooms. Nice tea room with outside seating. Picnic area. Good walk from ticket office unless you are visiting by coach
S. H.
A fascinating house with some interesting paintings and good overview of the family history. The gardens are tranquil and the lake and it's island a perfect resting place for Princess Diana. Refreshments were of good quality.
N. C.
This was our first visit to Althorp and. Lord Spencer was signing books in the courtyard. I must say that we were very impressed with the homely feeling of the house and the whole estate. The guides were lovely and the area surrounding the island where Princess Di. is buried was so beautiful. Not so much a stately home, but a cosy lived in house. Definitely go again next year as it closes for the winter on Saturday.
B. K.
The website had said it opened at 11 when I booked the tickets, but it actually opens at 11:45-12. Our taxi dropped us off at the gate, so you'll need to walk up the driveway which takes only about 5 minutes or so. The house is beautiful and I love the idea that it's still used as a normal family home when it's not open to visitors. There were no guided tours on the day I went but the attendants in each room were wonderful and full of interesting stories about the home, its history and the family. The grounds are amazing and I could have wandered around for hours if I'd had the chance. The deer were also visible during the walk along the driveway as we walked in. Would love to come back and do it all again next time I'm in the UK.
E. T.
Beautiful 500 year old estate where Princess Diana is buried..
M. G.
Took my mum who is a big Princess Diana fan and she absolutely loved it! We were delightfully surprised that her brother was signing books that day so it made the trip even more memorable. It’s a big place with plenty to see and enjoyable for anyone that appreciates history and country estates.
B. P.
I personally haven't been to the Althorp Estate, but, I had the great pleasure to meet and talk with Princess Diana in 1983. She took my breath away; I was in shock as I was surprised to see her there in the US, and at my home! We talked for quite awhile. As we talked I realized that she and I
had a lot in common. A great beautiful Lady. She stayed in town for two days; and came back to see us the next day. She had a lot on her mind. I enjoyed her visit with us very much. I very much want to see and talk with her brother, the Earl Charles Spencer; as I have alot to say and tell him about Diana's visit with us; it is of great importance. Sincerely; Bea) Contact information: PO. Box 334 Rural Hall, NC. USA. Today's date: 10/19/20

A beautiful era in British history.

I visited today with my doughter Stephanie aged 22. What a beautiful place. So calming and peaceful. We looked round the house and so amazed at the pictures and decor. Staff very helpful with answers to the questions we asked. We then walked round the garden to the lake where beautiful princess Diana is rested. We took a seat to have a quite moment. So quite and still. We then decided to take a drink in the old stables. Last of all the gift shop. We got some lovely gifts to rembered our afternoon out. We brought a lovely birth fairy for May as to remember my daughter's baby margot who was born sleeping in May as this was a afternoon out as she is still grieving. Really helped coming to your lovely home. Wound like to add also how nice it was to meet the estate manager who came over to us and had a lovely chat about everything that goes on. Very useful. Did not realise you held weddings here. Will be having a look for my daughter's wedding. Thanks again Julie and Stephanie.
C. G.
Lovely, interesting and worth a visit.
A. F.
Lovely day, friendly staff
C. S.
A magical place to unwind and get lost in the Spencer history. Of course Diana's resting place is a wonderful memorial to her and a lovely place to sit and pay your respects
c. M.
visit Diana’s rest place,so peaceful!on the way back, visited St Mary's Church in Great Brington, sorrounded by tranquil farm land, surprisingly found the grave of
ancestors of George Washington
In the church.didn't have time to walk around but a satisfied journey and an
emotional day!

Relaxing afternoon at Althorp House, enjoying the beautiful grounds on entering the Estate by foot.
Friendly staff from the onset, greeted & welcomed by Andy at The entrance gate.
All the staff were welcoming & knowledgeable of the Estate.
The tour of Althorp House was amazing viewing the numerous rooms with the paintings and sculptures. A truly homely feel within.
The Round Oval with the dedication to Princess Diana was extremely peaceful.
Upon my departure from the Estate I was kindly offered a lift back to the main carpark from a member of staff called Andy, which was a very nice gesture.
R. A.
Don’t consider my rating as relevant for the destination in itself(as I didn’t enter, made sure to edit the times in google). I just wanted to make a note to public if you are to get to the property as a pedestrian, don’t access it as the picture indicates, (that means by the A428) it has a better entrance for pedestrians that will make your walking experience better.EDIT:I did enter and found the experience interesting, I’d wish there was more of the garden dedicated to visitors. The inside of the house itself had too much history and paintings to absorb in one visit.
G. C.
Absolutely amazing event in stunning surroundings. Thank you to Earl Spencer and his family for allowing so many of us to visit the estate for this event, view their lovely home and pay our respects to the beautiful Princess Diana's last resting place on the lake. Best wishes
T. E.
Beautiful house and grounds. The walk around the lake is very peaceful. There's a coffee shop and gift shop too.
R. S.
Historical place. Full of history and traditions.
G. S.
Great place friendly informative staff. Lost one star because of the café. Very basic sandwich selection and no hot food. I would definitely go to althorp again but I would take my own packed lunch
V. A.
Do much to see. Beautiful house with wonderful decor. So many collections of great portraits of well known people and family ancestors. Beautiful island where Princess Diana rests
R. C.
Great experience. Personnel very knowledgeable, answering any questions. Not many people visiting there at moment due to covid and foreign visitors not here but was lovely to walk aroynd house and grounds without crowds.
M. E.
Went a while back, try to go every year,! Very clean, well looked after, the lake where Diana is buried is very peaceful, would recommend Althorpe to anyone, only two down sides, cafe over expensive brought in items, and I think entrance price could be cheaper!!! 😁
J. C.
Great day and tranquil around the lake.
J. T.
An awesome day at the estate with the food festival in full swing. The food was glorious and the house splendid and revealing. If you visit utilise the knowledge of the hosts/guides they know their stuff. Lovely day, lovely place.
C. R.
Interesting house and lovely stable block of contrasting architecture, interesting paintings and furniture, beautifully decorated rooms. Guides in the rooms very helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, especially Brian Warren, who was a star 🌟.
Interesting exhibitions. Tranquil lake and 'garden' - mostly trees, lovely arboretum feel.
Gift shop disappointing - sparse and expensive. Does sell the lovely coffee from the coffee shop, however, but could include more postcards of house and garden and paintings and also the lovely coffee shop china ! Nice coffee shop - delicious coffee and yummy range of light meals and snacks inc cakes and scones.
P. R.
House was great, guides very friendly and extremely knowledgeable, gardens were nice and the Diana memorial was very moving, well worth a trip of you are in the area
J. P.
Food Festival 2019 really chilled festival, good to come with friends and family for a good weekend off!
Seen some collectors classic cars, Falconry demonstrations, listened to some live music while drinking some awesome handcraft cider!
Althorp it's a really peaceful place!
I. T. (.
Interesting, but mostly Spencer family portraiture. Don't expect formal gardens and not much to divert children. It's also a long walk from the ticket office to the house with no seating.
H. M.
We all really enjoyed our visit to Althorp. House tour was really interesting and we talked to lots of friendly and knowledgeable tour guides. Walked around the grounds too, very beautiful and well maintained. Very nice day out
T.
Visited as a group today, a beautiful estate and house but sadly they were not offering guided tours as they claimed they were too busy. The house was not prepared for a 'free-flow' with no signs or information at all. However there were a few guides to answer questions scattered around, Diane Springnett was a fantastic member of staff who knew the history of the family and house in great depth and made our visit significantly more enjoyable and educational. Slightly on the expensive side especially as you didn't get any information for the admission fee and no offer of a return visit as is featured in many other attractions and houses across England within a year, which would make the price slightly more reasonable.
J. R.
Waited a long time to visit here, and although I found the lake very solemn and beautiful, the experience from the house did not enthrall me at all, I looked forward to buying memorabilia from the gift shop of Diana and yet it was centred around Earl of Althorp's books, didn't find anything belonging to Diana apart from the Eulogy of a book from the funeral of Diana, wasn't impressed at all.
K. M.
The house is beautiful, not many rooms to look around , the grounds are amazing but there is nothing in the house that says diana princess of Wales lived there. We were disappointed about that.
L. D.
Thank you to Ruby and all of the tour guides for providing a perfect day, we were especially grateful for you arrange the glorious sunshine! ;) ... The house and gardens are truly immaculate - a must see! ... the history is thoroughly facinating, the staff are committed to providing as much information as possible - including all the nitty gritty secrets, my only regret is that I've left it so late in the season to come that I'll probably have to wait until next year before I re-visit.
A. C.
A wonderful place filled with emotion !!! R.I.P Lady Diana !
J. S.
The house and grounds were wonderful. Princess Diana's Memoral and island was a very moving experience. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The only niggle was the tea room. It was very busy and the organisation was haphazard and contributed to the long queues. More seating is needed too. Having said that when we able to get our tea and cake it was very nice.
J. Q.
Prebooked our tickets as we thought or assumed that there were limited quantities of tickets but it turned out they had load of tickets left..
There were 3 queues going in to the grounds. Tickets at the gate, disabled drivers and Prebooked line that we were in.
There were 2 members of staff .
One did the ticket booth and the other one had to juggle serving the cars and the prepaid line .
The people paying for tickets at the booth
whizzed through followed by the cars and lastly the prepaid line
So don't prebook ur tickets on line because you'll be the last to get in.
The house and grounds were amazing.
The cafe was fairly priced. But the shop was disappointing most of the souvenirs were books written by Charles Spencer .
Again not enough staff only one was serving so we couldn't ask for a price on a gift so walked out as she was serving a customer.
We did the house and grounds including the lake with Diana Spenders memorial on the lake island in 2.5 hrs
A long way from home and a lot of driving (round trip of 200 miles)
P. M.
It was a lovely visit, house, grounds and lake very tastefully done, I would recommend a visit, There is such interesting history to the Althorp Estate x
E. O.
Lovely place very well kept grounds, the house is lovely and well worth a visit. Also enjoyed visiting the park where Princess Diana was laid to rest.
J. E.
Beautiful house and grounds wonderful most pleasant staff especially Bill who from greeting us at the entrance chatted to us throughout our visit .
s. g.
Didn't like the Mitch Grithiths, but that's personal taste also don't like the way it has become more of a mausoleum for lady Di, rather than a nice historical house, Decent cup of coffee in the café but that was about all, not much choice, I would advise take a picnic, the Garden doesn't do the house justice, compared to the the likes of Hatfield house, saying all that very nice staff,
J. W.
Lovely afternoon out to a fascinating country house with excellent art work. Extensive grounds with a reasonably priced cafe. Ideal summer day out made even better by the knowledgeable guides. Excellent value.
J. M.
Really lovely day, enjoyed the house tour. What a beautifully place for a princess to rest in peace. Took us 20 yrs to get here and well worth it to see.
M. R.
Gorgeous place. Interesting, very friendly and helpful staff. Childhood home of the lovely Princess Diana. Loved the hat I bought in the gift shop.
W. F.
Words can't describe how I felt coming here, obviously the Diana factor was a big one for me, but there is just something calming about the place, it was such a pleasurable visit, I'd love to go back! Well worth the 3hr drive!
P. S.
Long walk from car park and not enough staff to provide information on room details in house. However what staff were there were friendly , also when leaving the house it would have been good to provide directions perhaps in the form of a signpost to areas of interest which were numbered on the map
J. A. J.
Interesting, friendly guides, beautiful grounds and house. Cafe food excellent. Thoroughly enjoyable day
J. L.
Loved it! Very friendly and well run. Free parking. Wi-Fi. Stables cafe is a must to visit. Trees and grounds are beautiful. Lavender everywhere attracting bees.
D. P.
Good visit again since 20 year ago as I take my partner first time and still beauitful and we fond of Diana as our princess as always ♥️
S. E.
A good day out, my only criticism was the lack of photos and information about Princess Diana, although walking around the beautiful and peaceful lake where she was laid to rest and seeing the memorial made up for this.
n. c.
Decent place not worth the price
M. t. C.
What a beautiful estate and a home it would have felt like royalty living there with so much history, thank God now Diana is in peace but she will never be forgotten especially through William and Harry and the Spencer families
D. T.
I felt let down by seeing Althorp. It did NOT live up to my expectations. Sure, it's an incredible great house with history, and the house Princess Diana grew up in. It seemed rather shabby and run down. The Earl's money obviously goes to his ex-wives and many children, not to the estate. The gardens would look so nice with some interest instead of just grass. Even the island Diana is buried on looks kind of second rate. We were really surprised, and we've visited many great houses and enjoy them all. The admission price is high.
A. G.
Came here for food festival, lots of great food and drink to try. Did the your of the house, which feels warm and friendly along with all the staff who were all keen and willing to help.
P. R.
Quite interesting, not enough of Dianna. Nothing about her stepmother. Overpriced, but atmosphere informal (except no photos). Staff pleasant and helpful cafe good.
M. M.
House was free flow so could look around at our leisure. The number of rooms open were limited and the interpretation was also the same. There was a guide book but looking over others shoulders it didn't go that much in to depth. Guides were knowledgeable and engaging. Grounds and areas to explore were limited and as a real plants person I would have liked to have seen more of the gardens, grounds and plantings. The price was a little to much for what was on offer at £18.50 a ticket. We spent just over two hours and that was stopping for a goof look at things. Just felt as though the house was being used as a cash cow due to its links.
L. F.
I went to Althorp House in 2007
I took my Late husband. Diana's ancestural home is magnificient. More Royal then Buckingham Palace l would say. When l took pictures oc the Island where Diana is buried tears streamed down my face. My husband loved the weekend. The next day you had a choicd wether to go to see Woban Abby antiques or go to the Zoo. We chose the zoo. 10 out of 10 we went with New Market tours. Brilliant break.
J. R.
Beautiful gardens. House lovely too. Would have liked more choice in the shop though. Thoroughly enjoyed it though. Will go again
P. C.
You get to see a lot of the house, the guides were really friendly and helpful. The gardens were beautiful and well kept.
S. L. P.
I loved the place, is beautiful inside and outside too. Very good for everyone to visit.
S. M.
Went to the annual Food and Drink Festival, loved it. The house is beautiful and you could book a house tour with the festival tickets. Well worth a visit.
D. S.
We visited Althorp to see the food festival which was setup in the grounds around the estate. It was a great event although we did not actually visit inside the house itself the grounds are very nice and scenic.
M. C.
Really good interiors, grand, but feel real and 'lived in', because they are. Excellent, knowledgeable, friendly guides (young and old).
m. h.
Great place to visit, no wonder it's top in TripAdvisor. Talk to the staff, so knowledgeable and will teach a thing or two. Loved it.
A.
Nice country estates to visit the house is fantastic but you'll have to check their website for the day they're open I think it's some time in the summer for about 2 months.
S. W.
What a lovely place quite emotional with the Diana connection though great day out
S. H.
Very enjoyable visit to Althorp House & Gardens. The Diana memorial is moving, staff friendly & helpful
P. m.
A Fantastic and extremely well kept place to visit. Both house and grounds are well worth a look and the stables cafe and courtyard are perfect for refreshments.
J. A.
We enjoyed our visit to this beautiful estate...the house and grounds (we actually missed the lake as we didn’t see the signs) were beautiful....we were disappointed however that there seemed to be little of Princess Diana and the photos we saw were very sparse and untitled ..it would have been nice to know who was who!......we thought the stables eating area lovely and the food was very good too...reasonably priced as well!...all in all a most enjoyable visit......I must say all the staff were very helpful and lovely..Thankyou!
M. S.
Went to the food and drink festival loved it
A. B.
Really good value as an HHA member. Good tour, about an hour. Got to see quite a bit of the house. Gardens nothing special. Enjoyable visit.
C. M.
I expected more. Mum-in law from South Africa visited and she was dissapointed that Diana's grave was hardly visible. It is obscured by overgrown bushes. Not wheelchair friendly nor for people with walking aids.
J. M.
Very peaceful
Beautiful house with.many paintings and porcelain.gardens rather disappointing
G. H.
Quiet and beautiful, both house and garden.
R. S.
We had a wonderful day at Althorp last week. The house is beautiful with art collections and furniture. Glad we could pay our resptect to late princess of Wals ( Diana ). Only disappoint I had not to see Diana cloths and jewelry collections, as it is advertisined in your broucher.
J. T.
Good price for both gardens and house reasonable prices in cafe all in all lovely place
P. K.
Perfect weather, perfect staff, perfect service! Bring picnic food and wine to have after the tour at the picnic tables under the massive old trees overlooking the fields being grazed by deer!
A. M.
Went here last minute, but to be honest was slightly underwhelmed, disappointed , unless you are really interested in portraits, it's not my cup of tea.
H. S.
Lovely house well looked after and nice grounds thoroughly enjoyed trip
W. E.
Very expensive compared to other stately homes and what you see for your money. Tour is an hour and quite rushed and little to see in the way of gardens.
P. C.
We enjoyed a lovely visit to Althorpe with its fabulous house and gardens. Definitely check out the stables cafe with its wonderful offerings.😀
m. w.
Lovely pictures and decorations in the house. Peaceful garden walk to princess Diana's memorial
L. F.
Had a nice time but the marking for the disabled parking took around miles of the out wall and some things could been signed posted better ...lovely house
L. S.
Go to this beautiful place every year. Easy to get to. Well directed. Reasonable prices. Lovrly staff. Facilities excellent. Great day.
C. H.
Was a lovely stunning estate to visit but felt there wasn't enough of princess Dianas history as it was her childhood home.xx
h. d.
Wonderful setting house and gardens and the cafe spectacular. We did have great weather. Perfect
M. R.
If you go to Althorp house there's a lot of walking involved there's a kinda museum about princess Diana not a lot took 5 mins to see very disappointing .the house was ok not as stuffy as over places you could look and touch house a bit tired a walk to the lake (Diana s resting place) bit over grown but very peaceful place to go and sit highlight of the day very beautiful the Earl was accused of using Diana s memory to earn money not the case cheapest place I've paid to go in and think should have more about Diana
D. M.
Interesting day out, but quite expensive.
T. S.
Attended an event here one Christmas, such a gorgeous place, and the choir singing on the stairs in the house.. really Christmassy! Well worth a visit.
J. K.
Well worth the visit, amazing house and grounds, Princess Diana’s grave on the island was beautiful to see...
C. F.
Beautiful. Visiting the house was an impressive experience. Calm and not full of tourists.
M. C.
Stunning home seeped in history & such tranquil grounds so much more than we were expecting... We will be back again!
F. B.
Lived it.... All princess Diana's pics we've never seen... It's so beautiful and relaxing. Definitely loved it.
M. S.
Very helpful , knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. Amazed at the number of paintings in the house.
K. A.
Just a shame that there is no wheelchair/ limited mobility access to upstairs..as there is so much more to see upstairs . A beautiful home none the less
P. G.
Lovely House and Grounds. Guides have some great stories. A bit of a walk from car park..
E. F.
Beautiful house and walk through to the Diana mamorial, nice coffee shop gift shop and good toilets worth a visit
M. H.
Quality day out. Beautiful grounds and walks. You may catch The Earl Spencer signing books in the gift shop.
P. C.
Lovely, peaceful location. Enjoyed the gardens.
