Absolutely stunning!
First off, the entrance is a bit hard to find, especially if you're navigating via Google Maps. Take the stairs next to the Contemporary museum and head all the way down, it's basically under the bridge, at the bottom of the stairs.
Once you've found it, it's a fantastic place! There are over 800 caves under Nottingham, every single one is man-made and had a specific purpose, including the only underground tannery in the UK. The tour is done with a free audio guide that elaborates on all the little details and stories behind the various places you visit, taking about 40 minutes altogether. It's very informative and goes into depth on the history and uses of these caves.
A fascinating place, not to be missed!
A. R.
Interesting to learn about these man made caves under city of Nottingham, staff explain how how the audio guide works via mobile, tour is round 40 mins long. Centrally located went with childre 8 and 12 both enjoyed the visit, staff friendly worth a visit.
L. A.
Loved going here it was a little hard to fi down but once you know where you are going it's nice, had to download the audio and have a set of headphones and you have to go on their WiFi as there is not much signal down there, I really enjoyed listening to the audio and listen to the story's behind what is down there I would definitely recommend going here to try if you have not already. I would go again if I was to take someone that wanted to go if they hadn't been already, the audio also tells you to mind your steps and head. I booked this over the phone, you can pay over the phone or on entry.
A. S.
Our tour in the caves was very interesting.
Downloading the audio for the tour before starting, allowed us to walk the whole of the caves at our own pace.
I would recommend this tour to all visitors
J. M.
Some signage would help in locating the entrance especially on the main road above the caves.
I would recommend downloading the audio (40 min long) as WiFi is unreliable.
Floor is uneven so wearing appropriate shoes is vital. The caves are well ventilated but a little stuffy which is expected like the volcanic ones of Mt Etna in Sicily.
They'll take you back to 1600 all the way to their use in WW1 up to when Nottingham was under the 70s precinct and show you how life was and how people made a living from the leather tannery, political meetings, shopping centre, etc
M. A.
Awesome place. Sandstone under the city is really awesome. Rich history and a very climatey cool place to relax. Listen to free audio tour brings the caves alive and explains what different areas were used for.
S. S.
Something a little different to do whilst in Nottingham. Really interesting history, with an audio guide available on your phone whilst you walk through the caves. Lovely and cool down there on a scorching hot day too!!!
D. J. M. L.
Super friendly and nice people, well guided tours with audio guides, it is better to book online. The full visit takes 40 min, interesting historical facts across 1000 years
L. R.
We had not purchased tickets in advance as sidnt know what time would get to Nottingham, signage if ypu don't know the area not great and the entrance to the caves had a lot of construction aroud it but it wasn't busy so we were able to buy tickets at the kiosk
Scan qr code to connect to WiFi and scan another qr code to connect to the audio which I liked as not using headphones, so just used your phone to listen to the audio
If ypu lose connection then qr codes scattered around to re-connect
40 minute tour and very good explanation of the caves
No coffee shop or toilet at cave nearest one is cafe 2 minutes away
Worth a visit and reasonably priced
H. H.
Brilliant insight into underground life at Nottingham. You can visit some of the sandstone caves and it's well worth it. Incredible asset for the city of Nottingham.
O. 9.
Awesome piece of history, audio description explains a lot of detail you wouldn't otherwise notice at first glance.
N. M.
Visited the caves today, not exactly easy to find if you don’t know the area. Did seem a bit disorganised on entry, especially the suggestion to download the audio tour (we were expecting a guide) I don’t think we were the only ones a bit unsure of the correct route around the caves, as it’s not very clear. I think we were way ahead of the audio tour, as I was the only one in our four who had it. Caves were interesting and it was a fun way to spend an hour, just slightly let down by the above things.
S. E.
A fascinating insight into Nottingham's past and how these caves have been used for the local population throughout history. Due to covid could not get the fully guided tour, hence 4 not 5 stars.
M. R.
Really interesting and great value for money. Reminded me of the catacombs in Paris. Free audio guide to listen to an be indulged with interesting information. It blows the mind to think some of the caves date back to 1300. Reassuring to know if we're ever attacked, we can take shelter within the caves
M. U.
This was incredible. A really great surprise. The audio guide available on your phone is helpful and you get to see a lot of interesting history, quite literally buried beneath the streets of Nottingham.
Absolutely well worth a visit
K. B.
This place is hidden under the tram lines and you need Google maps..but obviously it's down not up!
Really cool place..historic..you get given a code to download the audio on your phone as you walk around the caves..very informative.
Wear appropriate shoes as can be slippy and remember to dip head!
Worth the visit for sure!
Tells about when Nottingham was under the 70S precinct and shopping centre..they keep building on top of it!
J. B.
I've lived in Nottingham for the last 6 years and this was the second time I did this tour due to friends and family visiting the city. I enjoyed it each time, very informative, light and interesting. Our tour guide was amazing and he made the whole experience one to remember. I'll definitely visit again when I have more family/friends coming to Notts!
Highly recommended.
S.
A must visit place if you are keen in knowing about the history of Nottingham and to experience a real cave which was built decades back.
Y. P.
Amazing place. Very interesting and informative tour! Highly recommended.
D. M.
Great experience. It will take 30-40 mins to finish but it was crowded when I went.
L. A.
Really enjoyed the City Of Caves with my friends,Who we met on holiday in Tenerife, Janet, John Sarah Harry and Joseph, Very interesting tour, Took some amazing photos.
S. E.
Very interesting audio tour, it really expresses the footprint of humanity throught its many layers and uses of the caves.
D. G.
Good fun, bring your own helmet! (If you really want one, a helmet is not needed, I used a robin hood hat from the gift shop). Really interesting audio tour and great backdrop for pics.
c. r.
Interesting to go and see .didn't take look tho about 20 minutes
A. W. (.
Not a huge place but ok for an hour. Using your phone as audio guide is a little annoying as all you can hear is other peoples phone.
R. B.
Nice activity in the city. I thought it would be longer but the visit is around 50 minutes. I recommend bringing earphones because the tour is audio guided, with a video available on site.
A. T.
The 45 minute audio tour was very detailed and really interesting! Great day!
R. H.
Very informative and great value for money. My daughter loved it and it was an hour well spent.
A. R.
Very nice place with interesting history.
A. G.
A very interesting look at subterranean Nottingham. You have to go at the pace of the audioguide which was a little slow for me, but it's informative and takes you through the zones. They are still investigating further areas so hopefully this will grow.
D. B.
Fun experience but you have to be patient and follow the audio guide for 45 minutes, if you don't you'll end up exiting in circa 7 minutes like I did :(
E. R.
It was interesting, but we were in a rush and did not listen to the whole audio recording that you can download. Also with a 3-year old on the group we moved through the caves in about 10 minutes.
We were a bit underwhelmed, but if you have time to appreciate the history etc it might be worth the while
R. C.
It was a good way to use an hour with the kids in the city. Grandparents enjoyed it too.
Booking in advance was a little pointless though as we still had to wait in a queue for entry.
D. M.
Smiley staff and interesting visit. At the moment it's a little difficult to find, down several flights of steps adjacent to the contemporary art venue. Make sure your phone is charged for the self guided free audio tour
K. E.
I love this experience, the guide reminiscing about World War II and what the history of the caves were. It was very interesting. I loved his stories. It was a cool experience! Safety first! Wear a helmet! ⛑
N. R.
Unusual but thoroughly enjoyable. Our guide Andy was humorous but very informative. Well worth the 45 minutes and very reasonable entry fee. Where else can you see archeology through the ages all in one place.
M. L.
The caves under Nottingham are a point of interest for the town. Though they have a long history, the most impressive part was their utilisation as shelters in WW2 bombings. The tour guide Alice, was excellent in both her ability as a speaker and the information she presented. However, the tour group could have been a bit smaller. The tours are given in groups of 20. There are specific areas where participants should all sit, but there isn't enough seating. The bigger group also made it hard to get a proper look at some areas of the cave, especially smaller rooms. Street signage to find the caves could also be better. Overall, was very enjoyable and would recommend.
C. N.
Our visit could have been so much more enjoyable but for Christy. We arrived about 1130am without previously making a booking online which was clearly a mistake. Christy greeted us at the door and directed us to their website to make a booking adding that they were extremely busy and no bookings were available until after 3pm. We joined several others struggling to negotiate the overly complicated website. After 10 minutes of frustration and still fighting the website I approached Christy for help and was told to wait outside. It was only at this point I could see the staffed ticket kiosk. I approached the kiosk and was almost immediately helped. The young lady said she could sell me tickets from the kiosk. I almost fell over. Within seconds I had purchased two tickets for 1220pm which was less than 5 minutes from point of sale. The self guided tour itself was quite interesting but I was still fuming from dealing with Christy and the less than.friendly website. I spoke to 3 people from Sydney, Australia who had had a similar experience as myself and circumnavigated Christy after I told let them they could go inside and buy tickets. Their comment was “it’s not like it’s Disneyland.” Throughout our time at the entrance and during the tour there were very few people so I’m still confused how Christy could have thought it was busy. I’m fairly certain Christy’s head would explode if she worked at Disneyland. Top tip, either buy tickets online or walk past Christy and go straight to the kiosk just inside the entrance. This review could easily have been a 4 or even 5 stars but for unnecessary headaches at the entrance.
M. K.
A fascinating guided tour of some of the man-made caves dug in to the sandstone under Nottingham.
The approximately 1 hour long tour is particularly slanted towards the younger visitor although everyone will find something of interest down there!
Our tour guide (Jess) was very friendly and knowledgeable - happy to answer any questions and unhurriedly led us through the caves.
The entry fee is very reasonable (Adult £7.95) especially as it gives you unlimited repeat visits for a year!
Still photography is permitted but no video recording allowed.
M. C.
Really interesting discovery under the city definitely one to visit if you are in nottingham ,although it isn't sign posted well at all think this needs addressing, I also think it needs staggered timing going around 10 minutes at least between people taking there turn to go , with audio on mobiles you just hear each others audio .
R. E.
Tourist map and the city signs are not correct to show correct location which is ridiculous!
Audio on own phone nit very good as other visitors also have their phone audios which make it all a bit messy
The staff were lovely and helpful
Actual caves are amazing and well worth a visit...if you can find them 😆
P. C.
Excellent experience! Such a doable experience so close to the city centre.....made better by the fact that you can get a talking guide on your phone via an app that really takes you through the caves as if it were olden times!
M. “. D.
Amazing experience. Very worthwhile. I can definitely recommend it for anyone who is interested in the history of Nottingham. Quite a few steps but that's a given.
Very enjoyable.
P. D.
Really great audio tour on ur own phone. Fascinating. Highly recommended. You can save money by combining with a ticket for the justice museum which is also excellent.
H. Q.
Loved City of Caves. Wonderful guided tours. Amazing learning and interactive experience. Only problem was finding the entrance was difficult due to so much road and construction work going on.
A. B.
Great, historical place. I used audiobook to better know this place. Worth to visit
T. K.
Was difficult to find. You need to go down the steps at Blends and then you'll find it underneath the 'bridge'. Take a smartphone as you'll need to scan a few codes to do the audio tour. Without the tour it doesn't take very long to go round. With the audio it takes 40 minutes. It tells the history of these caves. Little area at the entrance to buy some memorabilia.
T. L.
Very interesting and definitely worth the money, however it would be better to have proper audio guides with headphones. It was very distracting trying to listen to the tour on the mobile with groups ahead of us and behind us doing the same.
K. S.
Great experience, lovely staff. Very informative but it could be expanded and more immersive in terms of dummies being used or more tools and trinkets of things that would have been used. But certainly worth a visit for the price.
S. S.
Very interesting great attraction well worth a vist
T. T.
Absolutely amazing place didn't know these kinda places were under our streets
K. “. L.
Nice place and. Found it to be eye opening on how Nottingham has changed over the years. Definitely worth the Visit and it helps a good cause for Nottinghams history.
B. M.
Great visit. Easy to use audio guide, helpful staff. Ticket can double up with the justice museum which was also fantastic.
A. B.
Really interesting attraction and we enjoyed getting an insight look into the history of underground Nottingham.
Staff really friendly and helpful, Mask mandatory, hand sanitisers provided.
Currently one receives an Audio guide file to listen to on the phone while walking around, which turned out to be a bit of a pain with multiple people doing so at the same time but at different paces, ergo overlapping audio guides; which led to us walking either faster or slower to avoid people, which was a bit of a shame as it felt a bit odd.
I do believe under normal circumstances this would have been fantastic!
We booked this in combination with the National museum of Justice, fairly priced.
L. B.
Very interesting museum of the past. Great for children and adults to explore life in other times. Great guides.
E. P.
Very educational and eye opening into the history of Nottingham. Would recommend it to anyone. Some people moaning about the price, but it's part of the history of the city. It needs to be preserved and maintained.
M. G.
wow , what an experince, the city is reasing on these cave, and was very interesting how the city was built on thedse caves. It now has trams , awesome totally educatioinal.
r. j. l.
A good experience they can't do guided tours yet but downloaded there tour guid and thought it was really good well worth the money
M. T.
A great place to visit. Helpful staff. A hidden gem.
Π. Π.
you will not be interested if you have been in other caves. They are small and they do not have many things to see. The price is not worthy. As a student you give 7 pounds and the whole tour might last 30 minutes the longest. It is not something I will do again. Maybe it's better for children only.
S. K.
I really enjoyed the experience. Rich of history. Highly recommended for history nerds
s. 2.
Quite good just if you don't work with the audio guide you might get through it quite quick
Y. G.
It’s really a great experience to explore the historical cave! Buy a joint ticket is the best way to visit the justice museum and this cave.
K. G.
Good place to visit. What I don't like is how people take for ages to explain how not to bump your head and how to mind your step. Or talk about covid safety. Just say. Please mind your step and head. And please keep a safe distance. The actual visit is well worth it.
A. K.
Very hard to find the entrance due to the demolition of the shopping centre. We kept going down the steps until we eventually saw the entrance. Interesting experience.
J. C.
I really enjoyed visiting here today. Audio guide didn't download properly, so was given audio units which had a very low volume which could be improved. You need to book slot online before visiting due to Covid19 restrictions. The enterence is not appealing,so could be improved. Reasonably priced.
J. B.
Great place for a tour and information about Nottingham caves and history
M. B.
Great little tour, informative as well as entertaining. Our guide seemed to genuinely enjoy her job. You learn quite a bit of history. Be sure to book in advance on Bank and school holidays as they get very busy.
H. W.
Very informative. I learned alot about the caves under Nottingham & about night soil :) The tour guide was engaging, inclusive of all age groups & knowledgeable about his field. I would thoroughly recommend. The tour is about 1 hour long and is located in the shopping centre.
B. L.
There are historic things to see in city of caves. It was a good place but I felt like it was short. There are lost of passage ways but you only go in one. Overall a great place. Would love to go there again.
M. G.
Looked forward to this. I enjoyed it but it was a little short. Maybe need to open more area perhaps.
C. D.
Interesting historical tour of the underground with knowledgeable staff and a free audio guide.
t. b.
Very interesting walk through history.
It's important to listen and make sure you are in the right section for the audio tour otherwise its easy to whizz through and not understand what you are seeing.
But great value for money and very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
C. H.
Loved our little tour of the caves. The only downside was that because everyone was listening to the tour via their phones we sometimes had to hold back until the group in front moved far enough away that we couldn't hear their tour over ours.
Despite that the tour was very informative and took about 40 mins and we loved it.
R. F. W.
A wonderful exciting fun experience for the whole family to enjoy with history filled in it. Expect the unexpected and look out for things that may seem to not be there but are actually really fascinating.
As much fun and interest the experience gives at the same time you walk through Nottingham's history and some of its 800 beautiful caves.
c. p.
Had a lovely walk through the caves. Facts are interesting although you need to save the audio tour on your device as you won't be able to stream it down in the caves. Luckily we were given a paper copy by another customer. The tour felt shorter than I thought it would be but was still enjoyable and interesting to do d out about the history beneath Nottingham.
J. B.
Pretty good you're around the caves and plenty to see
R. E. P.
An interesting experience. I'd say it's a must when visiting Nottingham. I'd recommend taking the time to download and listen to the audio provided(one must scan a QR code and download it) although, in hindsight, I'd recommend increasing the playback speed to x1.25. Would definitely recommend it.
C. R.
Great history lesson! The guides I found quite informative and the tour was very interesting.
P. S.
A very interesting historical place to see under the streets of Nottingham, reasonable price and well worth a visit, highly recommended for a short visit museum
R. S.
Nice short walk through. Can be done in a few mins. Did a few loops with the kids. Would have liked to listen to the audio guide, but impossible with Little ones. Audio guide can perhaps be improved to have shorter numbered clips corresponding to specific points in the tour. Overall - unique and informative. A fair bit to take in if you have the time...
K. R.
Fascinating tour of these man-made caves hacked out of the limestone beneath Nottingham over centuries.
A. S.
Here you can see a nice slice of Nottingham history.
A. I.
Nice architecture with good audio guide. A short trip as the path was not super long.
M. M.
Beautiful place to be. I strongly recommend this
E. R.
Great visit, staff were helpful, social distancing rules were great and the audio tour was really interesting. The only slight downside is it didn't take very long to go round (about 20 mins without audio tour, about 45 mins with), we shouldn't have planned a whole day around it and I wish we'd booked some other activities like the castle and a museum, but we'll know for next time!
J. R. (.
Had this been pre covid I imagine the experience would have been much better, although if you go now you've got the tunnels pretty much to yourself, the audio tour is enjoyable and the entry fee although a little high without true tours (understandable though given our current circumstances) but overall it was a fun thing to do for an hour!
G. M.
Great visit and enjoyed the audio commentary. Good insite in Nottingham's history.
M. B.
Enjoyed the caves but could not get the audio to work so ended up going around the wrong way and had no idea what we were looking at. Mentioned it when we got back to reception and the lady gave us a print out explaining it all. Looking at it it was obviously something given out pre covid but would have been very useful to use at the start. Very friendly staff though.
D. B.
Fascinating and reasonably priced little tour around the caves beneath Nottingham. Really in depth and offers a glimpse into the lives lead down there. Would absolutely recommend checking out if you're in town! Was just under £10 for an adult if I remember correctly.
J. T.
Very interesting and good insight into the history. Well worth a visit.
F. H.
A nice place to spend a couple of hours. Our guide Gareth (or was it Steve - just kidding) was excellent. Very informative, clear and very entertaining. He led us through the sandstone caves underneath the Broadmarsh Centre. Plenty of opportunities to take photos and learn the history of the caves thought-out the past few centuries.
Y. Y.
It is a quite straightforward trip but it's worth your time. The audio tour is a bit slow but they gave me a handout and it helps a lot.
I bought my ticket together with the museum of justice and it is a good deal.
N. L.
Great experience ❤️
A. C.
Great experience! The guides are very kind and professional. I say to everybody: You have to visit this place!
K. B.
Enjoyable 40 minute trip back into the history of Nottingham. Very informative! Thanks. Please gift aid on entry as this helps maintain this historic site. Not easy to find situated under the tramway behind the cultural centre.
A. M.
A fabulous play to visit and very interesting
T. W.
Worth a visit, but you just feel they could do more with it. Needs to be much bigger as there are areas that you can't access. You pretty much just walk around in a big circle.
CITY of caves sounds impressive, and with a few quid spent on it, maybe it could be.
K. G.
Very small, not much really to look or learn about in there thats interesting. I personally wouldn't recommend. Only maybe if you have someone who has never seen a cave before! I can only compare to caves in Cornwall that I went to and the had lots of interesting facts etc! Staff at reception area were nice though.
A. T.
Good place to visit however Google maps sends you the wrong way its located just at the side of new bus station under tram wat
A. H.
This was a fantastic experience, very well hidden you do have to search for it. You can get a joint ticket for this and the justice museum which I would recommend doing. The caves are amazing such history and they are the real deal! A lot of information to read or listen to. Surprisingly not claustrophobic I never knew Nottingham had over 700 known caves and that everyone used to just dig a cave for anything they needed.
I would definitely recommend this place as somewhere to spend an hour.
E. B.
Brilliant experience. These caves under the City of Nottingham date back to before 1600.
N. H.
Very informative, interesting history. Should note that guided tours are not taking place due to Coronavirus. They have however created a very well paced audio tour using your mobile device that contains plenty of information, so make sure to bring a phone or tablet. You temporarily connect to their WiFi network and stream their audio guide from the website.
F. M.
Nottingham born and brought up but never experience these caves before. They really give you an insight to the life of the slums of old.
A. S.
Interesting look at how people lived and worked in the underground.
M. T. W. I. (. J. B. P.
Loved it go and visit well worth it to learn about Nottingham s history
d. l.
Very well organized tour with funny guides. It took roughly 45minutes. Worth visiting
C. K.
A beautiful little hiding spot in Nottingham, well worth the time to visit
S.
Interesting. Not natural but the history is fascinating. Make sure you download the audio tour...
R. M.
A really good insight and real-life view into some of Nottingham's incredible history. Friendly, helpful staff and an informative audio guide make this a really rich experience. Mind your step, and your head, on the way around!
L. W.
Had a great time learning about the caves under Nottingham. Friendly staff made for a relaxed and interesting trip.
S. S.
Really cool spot to learn about the history of Nottingham and it's early inhabitants in the sandstone caves. It's self guided with an audio headset. It is a bit hard to find upstairs in the corner, ask the information desk and they will guide you.
J. E.
Its a bit short but definitely worth a visit, staff are lovely
M. A.
Great fun for an hour or so at a reasonable price. My kids have been here before and were keen to take me (always a good sign!). The guides were pleasant and knowledgeable although perhaps not as 'into their roles' as I've seen in similar attractions.
These are man made caves and cellars carved through the sandstone cliffs of Nottingham and as such some ceilings are low, there's a fair few steps and uneven floors. If you have mobility issues you may want to call ahead and see if they can assist.
It's a short experience rather than a day out but worth a visit.
M. G.
People should bring equipment and make ghost hunting videos there. Certainly there would be a lot of views on YouTube.
I made some videos. All the videos have at parts flying orbs, as if it was a blizzard despite the fact that there was no dust visible. There were a few odd whispers captured on the audio track in the video. There was a shadow person.
A colleague told she has to sit down because an invisible hand was strangling her.
Overall I was not very interested in this place, neither that place seemed to be any interested in me. Real people died, real history of real events. Must be great for history fans.
T.
Interesting exhibits and free audio guide. Price is reasonable, as it goes towards the conservation of the caves. Surprisingly not as big/long as I thought they would be, but still a good day out :)
M. I.
I had no idea whatsoever about the place we were going to see, and I was sooo interesting! We’ve spent about an hour down there.
I would recommend going earlier on a working day to have the caves all to yourselves.
G. S.
Very impressiv, very interesting location...
C. j.
very informative tour the guide we had had defanatly done his homework on Google ,he would not come up for breath witch is kinda annoying because he just kept talking while ushering you along didn't really get a minute to your self to get a closer look around .but apart from they it's ok. expensive for a 20 min tour .
L. v.
Fantastic. Not as big as I thought they'd be but was really interesting to see.
B. B.
A place where you can learn a lot about the city's history. Guide was great and, also, it's not every day that you get into a cave system straight from a shopping mall. That alone is worth the price.
J. B.
This place is a fantastic place to visit if you come to Nottingham. You will not believe that all these massive caves exist underneath the bustling City. There is a big story and experience to be had. No spoilers but you will honestly enjoy it. 👍
J. H.
The audio description (via your phone) is quite slow paced, difficult to get youngsters to walk around at the page of the chatter. The displays are only in English, no alternate languages seemed to be on offer.
It's amazing what the residents of Nottingham got up to all the many hundreds of years ago, but was it worth the entry fee? I'd say probably not.
J. S.
Fantastic caves under the town
S. W.
Great museum. Takes around 40 minutes to go around with the audio guide on your own phone. Well worth a visit
B. H.
Tour could have been a little longer, but was nonetheless fantastic, with great tour guides and good props, maybe not first date material but certainly a fun afternoon! It can be paired with the galleries of justice as a Morning afternoon combination.
S. S.
Brilliant tour guide and lots of interesting history
s. (.
Very interesting and immersive experience, would happily go again
F. n. c.
Strange experience but it been interesting.
J. W.
Interesting place to learn the history of Nottingham during world war II
C. B.
An interesting and amusing tour through some of the original sandstone caves from which people carved some of the very earliest dwellings in Nottingham. The actors knew their stuff and the hard hats were a nice touch too.
C. P.
Really good! Not at all what I was expecting but was really interesting. Good audio track to follow round but it needed this, I don't think it would have been as good without it.
Staff were really helpful and informative too.
M. S.
Very interesting place, but so difficult to find- put up some more signage please!
W. H.
Fantastic tour around a very interesting site. An absolute hidden gem, and very reasonably priced.
P. (.
Superb! Tour guide very enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
R. C.
A very interesting time spent here with clearly explained information about each section along the way. I thought the admission price was fair.
C. S.
This is a great insight into the caves of Nottingham with the caves still being in great condition. It's a shame COVID has meant that there are no longer guides on the tour and you have to use your phone to play a pre-recorded guide; the guides' jokes were a favourite 😁.
K. H.
Fascinating caves. Lovely staff. Recommended.
P. T.
Wonderful place to visit under the streets of Nottingham. Could be awkward for those with limited mobility, as some steep steps and uneven floors. Needs better signposts to entrance, which us down the stairs by the side if museum then under the bridge
P. H.
Brilliant little bit of Nottingham's history. Well worth the entrance fee.
P. J.
Fantastic step back in time. Well presented and well worth it from a kiwi classes point of view
R. F.
Was a thoroughly interesting experience, the guide was very informative! The past of these caves is fascinating and it's great to see how things occurred across the ages in the caves too.
Only niggle is that it's a little small, it doesn't take long to get through.
V. M.
Hmmmmm... On the way back from Melton mowbray... called into Nottingham city of caves?
History not being my interest!
Wow.... was the impression I was left with...👍🏻 well worth a visit..
The caves being underneath since early 1700 a vast community survived the plague...and much more...
Step back in time... & take a visit...
Enjoy ⭐⭐⭐⭐😘

A very pleasant day out in Nottingham was had by us, the caves being the main reason we came. The history that I did not previously know about in Toggui Cobauc was extraördinarily fascinating. Though I am giving five stars because the place deserves it, one improvement that could be made would be to reduce the amount of monstrously noisy families that like to visit, the sounds of these loud bunches travel far throughout the caves. Definitely recommend!
D. “. B.
I found it facinating with the information boards very helpful. Especially as the only audio guide option is as an App download which I can't use. If you have a spare 40 mins it's worth a visit. Best to book in advance
S. T.
This is a very interesting place to visit.showing over 600 years of history.well worth the entrance price.only takes about 45 minutes to walk round and you can download a guide or get a written copy
S. P.
Was well worth a visit if you have never been or are in the area. But... took us 15 minutes to walk around (we didnt listen to the audio tour though).
Got some nice photos.
Also, they are currently doing alot of building and road works around the area so isn't the easiest to find!
c. c.
Take ear phones if you can so you can listen yonyour own audio tour
D. N.
Interesting place to visit. I particularly liked the WW 2 area supported by sound. You can download a virtual guide and walk the caces
R. C.
It takes you through a journey of the city's history by describing how the caves were used at various times.
Cool atmosphere and not difficult to traverse.
b. c.
It's hidden beneath the tramlines by the nottingham contemporary. It's open every day. They have audio guides at the moment, and you download them onto your phone.
L. L.
Really interesting. Great audio tour.
p. c.
Good tour and well explained
D. S.
Hear how the tanners used to prepare the hides, see where the workers lived and how the Anderson shelter saved countless lives during the war. Amazing to hear and experience
E. G.
Great insight into the caves. Shorter route than we imagined and difficult to follow the audio guide with the pace with children wanting to get ahead, but very historically accurate and enjoyable.
k. a. d. l.
Interesting history the girl was so good on telling about a life under the city center...
T. M.
Absolutely fabulous place to see Nottingham hidden treasure.
L. j. B.
Interesting. Use your own phone to connect to the internet and that is how you get the audio. The audio is slower than you realize but it's well worth it. Lasts for about 40mins. Not that expensive either.
M. M.
The caves are really nice and there's clearly been a lot of effort put into making them a good attraction. It covers a lot of interesting parts of Nottingham's history that I didn't know before. The tour guide was very enthusiastic and did a great job of explaining everything. The only downside was the cave system is a bit shorter than I'd have liked, but that's hardly their fault.
M. H. (.
Do not get to see nearly enough but the guide is brilliant
c. e.
Nice place to visit. Very informative and the lady who was in the war time area was brilliant. So posh thank you
A. M.
Good for a light museum tour or families but generally too small. Get the joint ticket deal with National Justice Museum where you can spend all day.
S. D.
Interesting audio tour through man made caves
N. D.
Kate was lovely a perfect hostess.
s. w.
I quite liked it. It's a small attraction but I had fun. We had a tour with a guy named Alex who did a good job. I recommend having a tour as I feel you get a better experience. How awesome would it be if they opened up a pub down there?! Who needs a beer garden of you have a beer cave...
N. R.
I went on a trip with a small group of kids. Very interesting and the tour guide was fabulous. Very funny, witty and knowledgable. 4 stars because I think it's a bit overpriced but definitely a place you want to head when the zombie apocalypse starts.
M. W.
What a fascinating experience! Amazing to think there are these and so many more caves below the Nottingham streets. Great tour guide - informative with a humerous note. Well recommended and your ticket gives you access to the tour as many times as you want for a year.
H. W.
It was interesting, but I would have liked ro see even more caves. The audio guide was informative and interesting too. I wouldn't go again, but if you are looking for something different to do I would recommend it. It takes about 40 minutes.
E. P.
A visit not to be missed. I didn't know there was caves under the city. I used lace Market car park its only two minutes walk away.
A. M.
Good if you stand and listen to the audio provided.
Dont go if you plan on walking round without it as its just a wet cave.
D. G.
First time we have visited the caves guided tour. Interesting history to what was under the City of Nottingham. I just a shame we couldn't have explored just that bit more.
B. C.
Interesting location with a great bit of history regarding Nottingham City
A. A.
Both enjoyable and educational, and also good value for money, it's one of the places to go when visiting Nottingham. The staff were also very knowledgeable and put on a good show, whilst also being very welcoming. Only issue is that it was about an hour, however that can't particularly be changed.
M. B.
Bit short but we had very good guide, so it was really interesting and worth to see.
A. K.
The tour was done hastily and ended abruptly. There was less time to ask questions about the places inside the caves seen. The guided tour should have been more descriptive allowing us to ask questions and interact. The destination was interesting, but the experience would have been more if the tour was more interactive and encouraged the tourists to ask questions.
O. B.
An hour or so well spent uncovering the history of Nottingham with guides in character and you're lead from one time period to another. It is well presented and reminded me of the horrible history series of books in its production. I would say it's good value, it could be better but was very good and was interesting, educational and good fun. You won't be talking about it for days afterwards, but you shouldn't miss it.
A. C.
Such a nice underground experience! 45 minutes tour with a great guide!
L. C.
Very interesting. Friendly staff
J. S.
Verry interesting experience. Never knew it was there. Nice to learn about the history. Hard hats are provided for safety and handheld systems given to listen to as you go round. Friendly staff. Good with children. Not suitable for pushchairs. I took my little girl down with a backpack with reins on.
L. M.
We came here in a whim during a day trip to Nottingham and it was worth every penny. The tour was informative and fun, sometimes hilarious. Such an interesting history and incredibly cool to wander around the caves.
E. P.
I'd like to start off by saying that Lauren our tour guide on Saturday 14th April (3.10pm tour) was absolutely amazing. She was hilarious and dealt with the young kids brilliantly.. even when one was very cheeky.. She made my little girl laugh so much.
Very nice walk through the caves learning about the history of the caves and also about the water table and such..
This tour I would say is not suitable for pushchairs and with very low ceilings in places I would suggest if you were going to baby wear a front carry would be best.
The tour takes about 45 minutes and is very informative... well worth the money in my opinion.
Thanks for a great afternoon Lauren!
A. B.
Not easily found due to extensive building works above the caves. Nottingham has basically through the ages built over the limestone cliff and completely hidden it. Our guide gave a interesting account of this rather small area we went in about the history of these medieval man made caves. It’s ok but nothing really outstanding
D.
We purchased the joint ticket to visit the City of Caves and The National Justice Museum - great value!
The actors were very good and the whole experience made for a very enjoyable 45 mins - 1 hour.
Highly recommended!
a. j. l.
Very friendly staff, and very informative look at the caves. They don't take too long to explore so for little ones it isn't a scary experience
A. D.
Fascinating history. Amazing that people actually lived in some of the caves. Would definitely visit again.
E. A.
Really interesting and lots to see. The guides keep you really engaged and go round at a good pace so you have time to look properly.
S. H.
Pretty cool cave system, set up primarily to educate, with a good mix of stories and explanations! The caves are very much a work in progress with much work being done to potentially open up more to the public in due course, in order for that to happen of course they need your support! Could easily become a five star when funding or earnings allow more to open!
Some may feel a bit “robbed” as it’s about £8 for an adult but without guide could be done in five minutes, but remember your paying for the tour and the education! Well done Emma or is it Nigel?
L. S. (.
It was a nice experience but it was extremely short and too pricey for less than 30 minutes. The staff was rude (besides an older woman), the place was a bit hard to find as there were no signs or anything related to the City of Caves. It was educative but we weren’t very impressed. Probably a great experience for children.
C. W.
The caves where good but you have to be careful as it is very uneven
J. S.
Was a little disappointed with the City of Caves. As it was all done by mobile phone. I would of rathered a guide in person. As it felt like you missed alot and didn't take it in.
A. D.
I was visiting from America, and my friends brought us here. It was so much fun hearing about the history of the caves, and the history of Nottingham. What a beautiful city, and amazing caves. You must check this place out!
L. S.
Got a combined ticket with the galleries of justice. Think we were expecting a bit more to see as what you get shown is very limited. I went on the original ghost tour and we were shown more caves under the salutation than this purpose built attraction .
A. M.
We enjoyed our visit - the audio guide was a bit slow and it was smaller than we were expecting
T. D.
Really interesting place to visit.
D. S.
Another good site well worth a visit, enjoyed my visit but if you're also 6ft 2in you will be ducking a lot due to the low headroom.
I like the timeline of the caves and the tour guides are friendly but I bet they hate that script they say have to say each pass they will be repeating it in their sleep 😅
K. S.
Lovely experience. Interesting characters.
C. A.
What a fascinating tour, the guides were informative and entertaining and friendly. I would definitely recommend
K. P.
Such a fascinating place, and literally preserved under neath a shopping mall, highly recommended
T. K.
Really hard to score. Impossible to find if you don't know the local area. But the guides and staff are very friendly. After finding it; was well worth a visit!
M. F.
Booked in advance, didn’t know what to expect, very interesting, take your time abc listen to the audio trail is all the advice I have.
a. s.
When I was traveling to Yorkshire, thought of spending some time in Nottingham and found this city of caves. Friendly staffs and the caves are well maintained
A. K.
The caves tour takes you from early ages to modern world tour. It emphasizes on how the caves were used in different era and how it undergoes changes and how it was used during the World War for shelter.
You will also get to hear about a lot of poo story in the underpit! Enjoy and have a good time.
L. J.
Really worth a visit, the actors are a bit Ollie Plimsolls and it would be nice to tone down the shouting and telling people to hurry up a bit (part of the acting I know, that and the in depth poo talk), first lady was great. Really interesting though would recommend.
L. C.
The caves at Nottingham were nothing like we expected. The tour lasted about 45 mins and was well worth the money.
You passed through time on your journey through the caves with 3 amazing storytellers who grabbed your attention from the start.
Who would have thought they were there.
S. L.
So much fun! We visited this place for my son. He is a Warhammer fantic. Bieng from the US we did not know what to expect. It was a fantastic display of old and new Warhammer models. The employees were kind and helpful. They had a massive gamming room with gaming terain. The restaurant was also delicious!
P. T.
This is very interesting all in all. They could do with some signs here and there to help you find it. Quite hidden away from the nearest car park.
E. M.
Very interesting tour where staff are friendly and knowledgeable! Would definitely recommend if your looking for something do in the city for an hour or so and rather cheap too... booking in advance also recommended!
T. L.
We enjoyed the walk though history being surprised on what the caves have been used for and what is being done to keep them
L. J.
Great place to visit with the family, the presentation was really well done too and you get to learn a lot form the speakers. Only downside is it was a bit short. There was more talking that exploring.
A. M.
Top notch! Really fun experience for me and my girlfriend. It looks pretty child friendly too. Best part was the period actors talking about various sections of the cave system.
S. J. B.
On a day trip to the city Got a combined ticket for here and the justice museam on the 5th October both were great. The caves were really good the tour guide was very good had a great day.
D. B.
We visited this attractions years ago when the Broadmarch was a throbbing Shopping centre. It wasn't very good then...Well let me tell you this place has upped its game 300% Our 8 grandchildren did not stop talking about it. The guides/actors were brilliant and related so well to all age groups. The method of tanning described was mind blowing. I will not spoil the fun by telling you why it was mind blowing. This tour in the caves is a must. Go for an education visit,go for entertainment,go by yourself,go with a group, go for a great hour experience. You will not be disappointed..
M. S.
Expected way more than what we have gotten. Would have loved if it was actually a tour around the caves under Nottingham, instead of just a small section. The history lessen you'll be given is nice to hear, but don't expect too much of it. Our guide was friendly, as was the cashier.
T. T.
Great journey through history. Staff on the counter were friendly and helpful.
s. l.
Great narrator she made the tour come to life.
K.
Amazing experience and good drink options
D. F.
It's a unique way to view the caves, by audio. Could have been shorter.
L. G.
It is interesting but I don't believe it is worth the money. I mean, it is worth it if you really like caves or if you've never been inside them but if you've had that experience then it is not really worth it. There is a lot of parking due to the fact that it's inside a shopping mall and the people are very nice
S. H.
Amazing and good talk-guide
S.
Very interesting tour?:-)
T. A. A. o. A. A.
Very interesting how the people of Nottingham used the space within the cliff to get fresh water, an area to live without paying rent, a safe haven for criminal meetings, storage cellar for pub + solicitor, a tanner for making leather, to air raid shelters. Steven the Air Warden was exceptionally funny with humour suitable for British, visitor and children.
F. A.
Nice place to visit
I would go again
The price was a little pricy
I think it's worth to explore
M. B.
Friendly staff, an interesting look in to the past how life was many 100's of years ago
D. W.
great place very interesting and fun, the tour is top notch
T. A.
We did the City of caves tour, our guide Emma was lovely, so full of energy and information, shd involved us and asked us questions, eager to answer any questions asked too, very aware of her tour group and their individual needs. (I'm a walking aid user) brilliant afternoon when paired with the NJM too. Highly recommend.
P. B.
We took our 8 year old grandsons on a tour. It was great fun. The tour guides were excellent, some of them dressed the part and really brought the history to life. It was fun and informative trip.
e.
I think a lot of this depends on what guides you get on the day. I've been twice and although the format was the same, the presentation made the difference. Most of Nottingham's caves aren't linked (Or open to the public), so this little cluster is rare. You can gift-aid it and go back as many times as you like, but you wouldn't want to.
n. p.
Had a wonderful time today at The City of Caves. Our tour guide Rachel was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about history and Nottingham. She made the past come alive!
I. B.
Very good little tour of a part of Nottinghams past. Whilst there for an hour, our guide, Andy, gave an informed and lighthearted talk of the various parts of the tour and there is a part at the end for you to digest by yourself. All in all, a very good, brief taster of what has been happening beneath Notts folks feet for the last 800 years.
F. M. N.
Great insight into the history of Nottingham and a unique attraction. The guides on duty were so friendly and helpful they made the visit for us.
H. V. Z.
Very intresting! Great for anyone, young and old. Tour guide was FANTASTIC and gave us all the info we need to know about the brilliant caves!
S. B.
Wish the tour could of been longer and more caves to see but very interesting
F. H.
Very good - especially the audio guide. Definitely recommend.
A. B.
The tour is excellent. They are man made caves existing below a modern mall. Worth a visit.
A. P.
Very good tour thoroughly recommend and good value 👍
A. M.
Interesting journey underneath Nottingham. Only takes 40 minutes and it's super cool... perfect respite on a hot day!
L. C. G.
A must for any visit, to Nottingham, or even if you live here and are interested in the history of Nottingham, I've lived here all my life and never visited until yesterday absolutely fascinating. Give it a go you wont be dissapointed!!
C.
Found these caves really interesting, was good that you could download the audio on to your phone for lots of information 😀
T. K.
Nice experience in Nottingham. Good tour guides and interesting place to see
A. M.
8th June 2018 visit
Pros
Good amount of history
Cons
Just an audio self guided tour available, where you are given a device that plays pre recorded tour messages at certain points
Hardly any interactive aspects on the self guided tour
G. P.
Full of very interesting facts and history behind Nottingham.
V. C.
Beautiful place and will take about 40 minutes inside the caves.
J. L.
Interesting history of the activities below Nottingham
D. M. W.
A fantastic place to visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the City of Caves. The tour guide was very informative, and the two actresses were very entertaining.
P. P.
Not bad place if you like caves
n. n.
Nice experience visiting the caves, a little pricey with the tickets but with the maintenance of a historic site I didn’t mind too much.
The actors were fab, enjoyed learning about the place from them!
D. M.
I was really surprised at how entertaining a tour this was. It takes about 45 minutes but would happily have spent longer.
Maddy, our tour guide, was incredible and helped make it a fantastic experience.
C. W.
We read the on-line reviews before going: the caves are well worth a visit, as recommended by others. The guides are all very entertaining & bring the history vividly to life. Don't miss it if you're going to Nottingham!
S. M.
Excellent tour guide Nino combined history, fascinating facts and humour to make this tour a great experience and well worth its very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend
A. B.
Interesting, but this is very small and nothing special
C. R.
We enjoyed our visit to the caves. Good tour guides and interesting talks. The guides make it fun so it kept out little boy interested. The tour its self was about an hour. Worth a visit.
D. S.
Only WW2 history. Man made Caves go back around 1200, but no data found on time line. Abit disappointed no medieval stories to read on tour.
K. D.
Interesting Caves and well preserved, I think very reasonably priced compared to other places! You get the tour split between 3 guides the last two were great the first one left a little to be desired! Does not take long but good thing to do to fill and hour.
G. W.
A reasonably good attraction. Takes less than an hour but is good to view the caves. If you've only got time to do one attraction I've give it a miss however
w. b.
Great place to visit very interesting and factual
M. D. G.
The kids enjoyed it.
A. C.
Enjoyable, interesting and educational, didn’t realise there was so much history buried under the streets of Nottingham
D. D.
It was good...anything mind blowing but still some attraction in the town.
o. g.
Our tour guide Meg was excellent. A great personality who brought the history of the caves to life. Well worth another visit.
K. C.
enjoyable place where you enter the caves through the shopping center (this confused me and my friend since it was caves we were going too, ahaha!), greeted by reception who hand you a device which guides you through the caves and a safety helmet as a precaution.
great value for money if you combine the city of caves and galleries of justice museum together as they can come as package deal and are in a reasonable walking distance from each other.
D. S.
The staff were amazing and really enjoyed their recreation of key historical periods. The cave experience is a must do when you are showing friends around the area 🤗👍
A. S.
Very cool tour of the cave, also includes 3 actors role playing certain characters from history
S. J.
Closed..
A. S.
I was a little bit disappointed with how short the tour is but if you never been to a cave, this is a good place to start
C. R.
Not easy to find. There are hard hats for use and even though not compulsory are recommended as some of the doorways are very low. The tour itself was very interesting and the guides along the way were very amusing and informative. Well worth a visit and would definitely go again next time we visit Nottingham.
T. C.
Great tour . People gave informative information about the caves . The staff were very in character.
M. S.
Prefer exploring natural caves but the audio guide you can download makes a reasonable attempt at engaging you in the struggles of the inhabitants of the area over the last few centuries.
J. A.
Nice place to visit and cool history. Book online
P. C.
My partner and I came here for our anniversary and we absolutely loved it. It held so much history about stuff we didn't even know about!
k. b.
Very interesting place and glad we went, needs to improve the audio equipment as sound wasn't good
Downloaded the App which wouldn't work for us once down in the caves
Needs to improve the entrance as its like a building site entrance
a. s.
The place is fantastic, full of ancient histories. The guide tour Andy is perfect, he has the knowledge, it's funny and wise in his speech which entertains very well during the visit! I positively reccomend!
P. M.
Really good and interesting about the old Nottingham. Only downside very difficult to find.
D. P.
It's a small tour for unique under city cave system. They should charge less to have more footfalls.
N. S.
Very interesting place, giving lot of information and untold history of Nottingham.
The tour was enjoyable, friendly and resourceful guide.
Very recommend for family.
A.
We did the guided tour it was good fun and really interesting. We learned quite a bit about the history of Nottingham. We also did the halls of justice so got in at a reduced price.
D. B.
Quite interesting! It's a small tour but the guides make the best of it. Definitely worth a visit
D. S.
Very interesting tour around caves, so much history!
W.
Great, this place is blessed by having one of those guides with a great sense of humour.
A. S.
The place is very interesting. There is something to see down there.
S. S.
Great day but beware the sigh posting is poor because the council won't do it. Also there are no toilets. However 5/5 for the cave tour
A. D.
The experience was very enlightening and the tour guides share a lot of interesting and unexpected information about the caves and their use throughout history.
J. W.
Very knowledgeable tour guide. Excellent time spent.
P. C. c.
Well worth a visit. Very interesting. Great value
J. W.
Combining the price of the galleries of justice with the city of caves is a real money saver. It's a must see for anyone wanting something to do in Nottingham. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and presented the tour well.
R. H.
Really enjoyed it. Lovely and cool on a boiling hot day. Tour guide had lots of interesting facts and things.
D. L.
Fascinating place well organised.
R. S.
Very interesting, a bit part of new and old history. Plz sign there funding page.
J.
Decent tour, good staff, interesting history but the whole thing is quite rushed with no time for Q&A or to read the information boards.
K. H.
A plucky little museum that more than earns its keep. Well worth a visit if you happen to be in Nottingham!
Allow about 45 minutes for a tour.
S. L.
Good. Very interesting but could do with some cleaning up, e.g. there were random bits of rubbish and some hard hats in the exhibition
t. r.
Great place and very interesting I’ve been down the caves twice and enjoy it just as much the second time as the first . A must see for any tourist
C. T.
Very interesting visit. You are guided through a fascinating historical tour. Fantastic place for children with tours set up for them. Guides are excellent and very helpful. I learned a lot more about the history of Nottingham and the tanning industry, even about how the caves were used during the world wars.
C. D.
It's an OK visit, there's actually not much to see, as you spend a long time in one section looking at the same things. Nice and interactive, but I wouldn't go again, feels like something that should be very cheap or free.
m. m.
Great tour of the caves with the lovely Emma! Interesting and fun, a great way to spend an hour out of the rain! Good value too!!
M. N.
Emma was great and the stories made the experience wonderful. So many interesting parts to the caves. Week worth a visit.
y. b.
Nice guided visit. Just the right amount of talk and information. Good animations with characters telling (historical) informative stories.
j. g.
Very good, well spoken staff would recommend
T. M.
Best experience for someone who is interested in historical places
C. B.
Ideal to visit with children as it is well organised and captures their attention. My grandchn loved the tannery and actor who told them how the animal skins were treated with human urine!!Well worth a visit for school hols
R. M.
Wonderful place
C. P.
Great place, really informative and audio guide helps so much
n. H.
Very nice, you will get to know many things.
P. A.
Very difficult to find at the moment as the entrance has moved to an underpass a 5 minute walk from the shopping centre all the signs point you to. The tour itself was interesting although the guide was a bit hit and miss with some of the facts and attempts at humour. It was very crowded as some of those booked on an earlier tour turned up late and were allowed to join our already booked up one. This meant it was difficult to hear what was being said as those at the back were a long way from the speaker. I'm glad we went as it is interesting to glimpse what lies below the modern city but it isn't somewhere I'd go back to.
I. T.
Incredible experience. Would love to explore more of the caves.
C. H.
The tour guide Andy ws both knowledgeable and very funny would deffo recomend
S. F.
Brilliant place to visit
R. C.
Very interesting history of the city from below. Emma, our guide for the tour, was very engaging and knowledgable.
J. L.
I take all visitors to Nottingham here when I can. Great little tour through history.
M. C.
Really interesting place to visit. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. There are actors as part of the experience who really bring the history to life.
S. M.
Very interesting. Helpful friendly staff. Audio or guided tours well worth the money
l. h.
Really informative and interesting.
Á. S. F. R.
Enjoyed visiting the Cave. All tickets revert to help preserving the Caves. There are about 86 around Nottingham.
K. C.
An interesting place inside the city centre. Audio guidance is available.
A.
Very nice place to be and surprisingly the city of cave is located within the city centre. Inside the cave gives a feeling of another world and quite experience of life lived by the first settlers of the city . No doubt, Nottingham is a city out of caves.
P. K. (.
Loved every minute of it well worth it and very informative, tour guide very knowledgeable giving out interesting facts, gift shop a little disappointing,
P.
Very nice little tour around some of the caves below the streets of Nottingham. The tour guide, Fran, was very friendly and entertaining, and she had plenty to tell about the interesting history of the caves. The place is a maybe bit small for the price, as the tour lasts about 45 minutes, but it is definitely worth checking out :)
N. K.
Very fun and educational, especially loved the actors acting out the different time periods of the caves! Really recommend going!
R. K.
The place has saved the traces of history and fascinating stories related to it.
E. H.
Very interesting worth a vist learnt a lot about how Nottingham used your be kids would love it well planed out
A. T.
Cool caves set at the opening of a shopping centre. Great for anyone interested in Geology, Archeology and local history
p. o.
Really good attraction. Very interesting to find out the history of the caves and the tour guides are very good and knowledgeable
J. C.
Good bit of history of the caves a long with the tour, smaller than expected unfortunately due to the city there isn't much room to keep most of the caves open.
L. T.
Great place, lots of interesting history.
A. S.
Very interesting and I had no idea the vast range of uses or the extent of the cave network. Kids loved it too.
D. B.
More interesting than you would think
P. i. I. w.
It was a amazing experience..and the tour guide..the best I ever see..so much passion about history and culture.10 of 10.
S. M.
Interesting history and good actors in the caves
L. B.
Loved the tour. All stories behind it intrigues to listen more. Would go there again.
g. s.
Informative and small so you don't get to blown away with information
L. E.
Really interesting! the guides are great and put a lot of effort into their characters! I has to explain to my 6 year old niece how the tanner was still alive if he came from a log time ago! It's a really good trip out, caves are cool in summer and warm in winter!
P. C.
Nice tour. Could do with an update
T.
Very interesting to learn about the history of all that went on in these caves.
S. M. R.
Good guided tour. Made a lot of improvements since my last visit years ago. Still find it a bit expensive for very little stuff.
D. G.
Very interesting place! We've heard great stories and our guide Emma was splendid.
G. H.
Very interesting hour spent underground at the back of the Bull Marsh Centre.
T. L.
Some of the best man made caves ive ever been in, and the staff were very friendly and helpful, 10 out of 10 for the staff
J. R.
Great guide (Brian), really interesting and a unique experience.
V. S.
Before the lock down, we went to City of caves, Interesting place to visit, but can be dangerous for kids if they are running around.
P. B.
The entrance is located at Intu Broadmarsh. There's a little bit of history in the tours but wasn't as exciting as expected
R. B.
Great tour. Recommended
T. A. B.
A great insight to what life was like before our times
A. o. a. G. T.
Really great trip around Nottingham's history

Fabulous tour guide (Andy), gave plenty of history around the caves and a few laughs too. We brought our 2 year old who inevitably did find some parts boring once the novelty of the environment wore off but the guide and the rest of the tour definitely didn't make us feel unwelcome and we were able to take her into another cave so not to disrupt the talk. It's worth noting that if you sign up to gift aid (we always do), the entrance tickets gives you free entry all year round. A 45 minute tour and talk with free time to explore at the end. Highly recommended ☺

Toured with a very dry humorous guide. Strange entrance from the shopping centre but extremely educational for the children and interesting for all.

Our group with Emma as our guide had a marvelous time in the caves. It was both educational and enjoyable.
Thanks Emma.😇

Very interesting especially for children, finding out how generations used to live in hard times. The staff are very knowledgeable and full of fun.

A great tour of an amazing part of the city

Never heard of the place till last week when I visited.
Plenty of parking in the area which is great if you have a young family or cant walk far.
The caves themselves are extremely interesting and having 3 different tour guides to show you round each are full of information.
As I could see there wasnt any wheelchair access and wouldnt be suitable for people who dont like being in small areas.
But overall I would give the caves a 10/10 would definitely recommend to a friend or family who are visiting Nottingham.

Have visited Nottingham often but never realised the story of caves was there to be investigated. The guided tour was well worth a visit with really helpful staff in the reception and then a traditional guided part and two talks by historical characters. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We were told there was an in-house feedback form which would be helpful in securing current and future funding...... sorry we did not have time to ensure ours were completed. Hopefully this review will help.

Great place to learn something you never knew about Nottingham. They were extremely flexible when wanting to adjust our arrival time (dependant on space)

Interesting but not that much to see, get the combined ticket that includes the Museum of Justice which was excellent.

We liked it here but would prefer to be able to walk it without the guide

Very short, but extremely informative. Seems like there wasn't much foundation in some of the stories told.

Great insight into nottinghams history, has been a well kept secret until now, dark tunnels twist and winds with loads of rooms and a dark history

Extremely interesting place, something I didn't even know was there. Pay for justice museum at same time for a discount.

This place was a great day out for the children as it taught them about the caves and how they were used in the past.
