Reviews of The Hexagon

Good panto. Mainly cos it was good to be back in panto world. Jokes were a bit corny, in good old panto fashion. Show was fun. 5 year old enjoyed it as did all the kids. Mr tumble and Co did a grand job. Hexagons not the biggest but good enough
D. I.
Saw Lost in Music One Night at the Disco which was absolutely incredible definitely going to book it next January. The singing was awesome and got everyone up on their feet
S. C.
I love the hexagon been going to performance here for years
From seeing the sooty show when I was a kid to seeing David Essex ( mums birthday surprise) and all the panto you can think of
The front of house staff are friendly and kind and a big shout out to all the people back stage the makes the sets costume lighting etc makes the shows your seeing fabulous....
If you get a chance to see Justin fletcher in his home at the hexagon in panto go see him my little girl loved her first experience of the hexagon
To all the cast of beauty and the best well done you where all fantastic, we laughed so hard I had no voice the next day.( plus I want nanny pastry's wardrobe 🥰)

Menopause the Musical was one of the best shows I have ever seen. I had a fantastic night watching this amazing show. I loved every minute of it . There was only 4 people in the show but each woman was fabulous and amazing every time they were on the stage. I was laughing from start to finish and I was one of the best nights of my life because of the people I was with and this show. I would tell everyone who gets a chance to see this show, you have too because it is a experience you will never forget but I say you have not lived until you have watched this spectacular show.
M. S.
Great little venue with a nice feel about it. Lots of different acts performing here, from classical music through to comedy. Pricing for snacks & drinks isn't crazy high either! Park in Broad Street car park for easy access to the theatre & the multitude of pubs, bars & restaurants available in the town centre.
K. S.
We went here to see Laura Marling perform and it was absolutely fantastic. From the team checking tickets on the door to the bar staff, all were organised, friendly and professional. The venue is small and intimate but set out well, plenty of space. The performance was brilliant.
V. S.
Slightly dated theatre but adequate nevertheless. The view of the stage is generally good. It is in the middle of town centre so you can get a convenient dinner before an evening show. The show which I watched was a wonderful production.
C. K.
The architecture is a bit severe with lots of concrete but in terms of audience experience it is excellent. We have sat in several different areas of the theatre and each time the view and sound have been very good. Last night we were in row G of the balcony and we had no problem with sight lines. One small criticism is the leg room; could do with a couple more inches.
P. B. L.
Great acoustics, very roomy comfortable seating. Good refreshments, pleasant and helpful staff.
E. P.
Built many years ago now this theatre is still in pretty good condition. The acoustics are good and good views of the stage from most locations. Not the largest of theatres but not the smallest either. All in all a pretty good venue.
J. C.
Great venue. Nice comfortable seats with an excellent view. Very reasonably priced drinks. Helpful staff. We saw a great show. Good value for money.
J. F.
Nice venue. Has been refurbished since my last visit. Only beef was text re our interval drinks said go to Balcony Bar, when they were on ground floor. Show was absolutely fantastic. More like this please.
C. G.
I started going when I was little and I'm now 50 it's still a great place. We had great seats good bar. Good even for a coffee
s. b.
Saw we will rock you was a great show but was let down by the building. Having lived in the area when I was younger it was a bit disappointing to see the state of the gardens at the back of the bar which are now allotments. Staff were friendly and helpful just the building could do with a make over
M. S.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to watch thd Rod Stewart tribute act - Some boys have all the luck!
The entertainment was brilliant and had the audience singing and dancing. The organisation was very good and it was easy to order refreshments. Good parking too which all led to a good night out!
H. M.
After working there for 8 years, I can say that it is not only a lovely place to work, it is also a lovely place to visit and see a wide variety of shows.
With extensive refurbishment over the lock down period, we reopened to nany sellout shows and great reviews.
Our 2021 Pantomime show was again highly praused and our stars Justin Fletcher and Paul Morse are set to return for 2022 with Imagine Theatre.
Look out also, for upcoming films too, with our new state of the art projection equipment, all in your comfortable and familiar theatre surroundings. See you soon!

We went to see "We Will Rock You," a gift from 2020. I was impressed by this venue.
I wanted to mention the staff, so friendly and helpful.
Very enjoyable evening.
E. C.
Really great view from balcony k44. Central view of stage. Perfect height for a great view. Comfortable chairs. Sell staggered seating so view not blocked by people in front. Close to an aisle. Lovely size venue.
Friendly staff. No queueing. No security process or covid restrictions. Clean bathrooms.
V. J.
Loved it. Calling planet Earth were really good!!
D. B.
Went to the Alan Carr show. Alan himself was hilarious. Evening spoilt a little by 25 minutes of a mediocre warm up act ,who really wasn't that funny and then a 30 minute wait before Alan came on.Not sure why we needed an intermission after only 25 minutes. Overall a good night
M. N.
Good layout and queuing system, toilets are clean and large.
Seats are slightly uncomfortable but wasn't too bad for the 2 hours I was there.
They serve food and drink and while a little pricy they are no more expensive than any other theatre.
Been multiple times and will definitely go again.
N. W.
Having so much fun seeing some great acts and comedy here. Parking right next door. Staff very friendly and helpful.
R. W.
One of Reading's few venues, and I'd miss it if it weren't there, I've been going there for decades. But it needs an upgrade - seats are old and cramped, bar and loos aren't can't cope anymore, its got a bit worn out.
K. W.
Stunningly interesting architectural feature of Reading, reminding you of London’s Barbican. Great venue for touring shows and artists. Bathrooms on the different floors, bars without much of a wait for the intermission!
G. M.
Not a bad venue although definitely showing its age. Would be helpful to the overall appearance if the council dealt with weeds and overgrown surrounding areas.
G.
Parking available in adjacent mall building.
The theatre is well designed for optimum viewing and listening. Good acoustics inside the theater. Clean toilet facilities. A bar is available in middle tier hang out area.
A little run down feel with older style carpet flooring.
Too little leg space. Be warned if your are attending a longer event this is going to be uncomfortable.
£3 bag of sweets as like cinemas.
G. C.
Went to see the Tina turner tribute band and had a great night out the hexagon it's self was clean and tidy but if you suffer with vertigo or are unsteady on your feet you have to be careful In getting to your seat in the top tiers and the car parking out side is not very clear on how much you should have to pay
I. B.
Lovely venue, staff friendly and helpful. Good view of stage and sound desk well handled.
C. H.
Went to see we will rock you and it was a brilliant experience nice to sit in a theatre with lots of leg room as I'm 6ft 5 it made the experience so much better would recommend
E. F.
Very nice theatre, but seats need updating. For a disabled person with back issues, the seats are very hard & small, couldn't get comfy at all.
L. A.
Great venue, the stalls are kid friendly and there is a lot of disabled access. It's a really nice size too, big but still small enough to be intimate with the gig. Absolutely no complaints!
S. E.
Christmas Panto every year and absolutely love it! Very well organised, never really queue in or out, prices for food/drink aren’t too bad for a this. Good access for all and parking at the Broad Street Mall near by.
M. H.
The pre Xmas performance was great. The children enjoyed the pantomime and as usual made a lot of noise. But the seats are very uncomfortable and the space between the rows very narrow. The theatre decor and facilities are dated and there’s definitely room for improvement to modernise it.
Parking is not difficult but awkward approach and exit. There’s a choice of two car parks - the mall car park that is situated on site and Chatham Street car park about twelve minutes walk from the entrance to the theatre.

Beauty and the Beast - Panto - Highly Recommend
Fantastic traditional panto fun. Couldn't fault it. Good material, costumes, excellent sets, good effects, - very funny. Not a huge Mr Tumble fan but I have to say he excelled this year - he and the dame worked well together. All parts played well. So pleased we got to see it. Went to Palladium last week and it was DREADFUL! No story-line, baddie, traditional material - absolutely dreadful for children (costumes and effects were fine) - a lazy cop-out. If a Donny Osmond fan then loads of past hits sung. After the London disappointment, Reading hit the spot for us and came up trumps! Thank you Hexagon. (Covid restrictions adhered to - quite happy with care taken.)
P. G.
Went to panto (oh no you didn't!) Beauty and the Beast. The 2 leads have awesome voices. It was great to be back there and, to be fair, format is similar to previous years. Costumes and band awesome. Face masks in abundance, cast seemed genuinely pleased to see the public again. It all felt quite emotional to be fair. Kids loved it! Oh no they didn't😂
M. A.
Brilliant atmosphere and a great night out, with top celebrities from comedians to strictly stars
m. w.
Brilliant panto. Good well organised venue with friendly staff
J. B.
A fine venue with some great shows available. Two significant drawbacks: the wheelchair ramp at the entrance is very steep in places and the elevator has a very narrow entrance/exit. I'd recommend that if you're coming with a wheelchair, bring a friend to help push you up the slopes and manoeuvre you out of the lift.
It would be nice if the ramp to get in was signposted because it's very hard to see in the dark. The staff were very friendly though and helpful in making sure our accessibility needs were met as far as the venue would allow.
D. H.
Always a good venue for a gig, great views wherever we've sat, well organised in terms of access too. Amy Macdonald was one of the best we've seen there.
a. w.
First time visit at Hexagon. You cant miss the place!
So I Went to see KBW live. Plenty of nearby parking all of which is expensive in Reading town centre I might add.
Quite a few steps - not too steep, but wide leading down to the main entrance which is where you can buy snacks and drinks. Pleasant staff willing to help if they can.
There are not enough toilet facilities inside(I only found one each for ladies, gents and disabled located by the main entrance.
The gents has a very small entrance to access them (I can only comment on the gents) and two people can't pass each other at the same time its that tight and a queue soon builds up outside. Minus a star because of this.
The seating is tightly packed together with no place on the seats to put your drink had to use the floor and I frequently had to stand up so that people could 'squeeze' past to get to their seats - you become friends really fast as they go by you, if you know what i mean! 😂
Overall not bad but needs to improve their toilet facilities and seating.
A. K.
Amazing space! Watched Russel Brand. He was brilliant. Very funny and he had his bear with him! Recommended!
P. H.
Superbly organised.
However, it would be a point to consider marketing seats with extra leg room for tall people. My partner is 6'6" and didn't fit in a regular seat
l. p.
Yea panto time again this panto was Amazing from start to finish corny jokes which we could not do without fantastic routines could not stop laughing. Every member of the cast was absolutely brilliant thank you all for giving us such a fun filled & fabulous evening .Thank you Justin Fletcher
🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

Fantastic show. Anton and Erin. Already booked for 60s experience and Queen We Will Rock You. Can't wait!
C. A.
Good venue, great acts, lovely staff, well organised. Bar quite pricy and chairs a little school hall ish but generally a fun place to visit.
Edit 27/4/22 Covid screens at bar now gone.
D. S.
Had a great time, Calling Planet Earth 80s band.
N. L.
Went to see the Freddie Mercury musical it was very entertaining with very professional actors/ singers, a very good evening out.there is food and drinks available on the premises.
K. M.
Great venue, saw Bowling for Soup here but have also visited for comedians and 5h3 ballet before. Reasonably priced drinks as far as music venues in the south go! Quite a small venue so a fairly intimate atmosphere and such a wide variety of acts playing.
B. C.
Great venue. Amazing staff. Variety of shows. Would 100% recommend to anyone in or visiting Reading.
K. L.
Fab brutalist building in easy access of town/ shops and car park. Doesn't appear to be a bad seat in the place.
E.
Some great shows to be had here, just getting a bit dated now
A.
Been going for years and no complaints, a very 70s building with everything you would expect with that. One note - escaping the local car parks after events can be a pain.
S. B.
It was professionally managed by helpful and polite staff. The facilities are clean and tidy. Generally a good place to visit.
j. h.
Generally good shows but can be a bit repetitive yr on yr. Seating very tired now
A. R.
Great show. But sadly the venue is rather dated now. Needs a revamp
M. M.
The Hexagon kindly helped me out with my "Big problem i had". The Hexagon at the Reading puts on various types of music and entertainment i:e music, dancing, comedy & opera plus many other things to watch.
There's a bar to get yr'self a drink before the show
& pre order for the 2nd half. There is a local travel service provided by a train & bus service.
A. Q. (.
Went down there on the April 29th to see we will rock you and absolutely enjoyed it down there, the staff were pleasant and helpful
P. C.
Went to see 'We will rock you'. Show was brilliant. Recommend you go to see it.
J.
Great local venue
Local parking, good prices to book online
Could of bars at the venue and good choice
S. R.
A Bobby Dazzler of a show with Sarah Millican.. Venue and staff very pleasant as ever.
T. G. M.
Group went to watch Lost in Music, great facilities. Theatre was full, no masks, felt normal after such a long time.
k. h.
Lovely small venue. Really enjoyed the show
J. T.
Looking a bit tired now, but stop us enjoying the show and staff very helpful
T. P.
Really friendly staff, very well set out and had a fantastic night. Excellent venue.
J. W.
It needs modernizing/replacing but staff are helpful, it has good facilities (plenty of loos!) and hosts a wide variety of shows at not exorbitant prices.
M. D.
Awesome show there. Nice to be greeted with a smile when walking in and a beer wasn't too expensive (for that kind of place)
D. S.
Reading's 1977 concrete grand dame which has seen everyone come through over the years. Just about surviving, still a character venue, though in desperate need of upgrade or replacement. Warmly supported by audiences, seats 1200 or 1600 with arena standing. Located conveniently in the town centre in prime apartment space which is a luxury any replacement venue is unlikely to have. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL VENUE
YOU WILL MISS IT WHEN IT'S GONE.
M. U.
I've enjoyed the shaw, we have had a really great time, Wallace&Gromit's Musical Marvles and masterpiece My Concerto in Ee Lad, excellent escapades from the Picture House Orchestra, astonishing presenter Matthew Sharp, this man is a miracle, we've had a really exciting time! Thank you all, You made my stay in England special!!
T. Z.
Saw Massive Wagons and The Darkness at The Hexagon on Friday. Good Covid arrangements as well as ticket collection. Good concession stands and prices not exorbitant. We had great seats in the Balcony area with a great view of the stage. Sound quality was very good. Would definetly go to The Hexagon again for another Rock concert.
k. S.
Excellent venue, saw the Stranglers on their final UK tour, just as good as 30 years ago.
R. O.
No matter what the building looks like from outside, it is a great venue for music. Great views from most areas, and sounds good. So lucky to have on our doorstep. Can't wait for our next experience.
V. C.
Comfortable seats, a brilliant show, we could pre order our drinks so it was easy on arrival. We were up in the balcony and had a great view as it is not a massive venue, feels very intimate. Highly recommend this place to watch things.
J. K.
Attended an Amy McDonald concert here. It is a small (1500) intimate venue with good acoustics. The theater has a bar offering a small selection of beers (ale, lager & stout) along with coffee, snacks and ice creams. I had a great night.
L. A.
Good venue but need to get their act together with the bar where it was one card machine between staff was rubbish
S. C.
Just wanted to say a big thank you to all the staff at the Hexagon. We went to see Anton and Giovanni and one of our party needed wheel chair access due to a recent accident. No matter how often we rang for advice everyone was really helpful and on the night we got great support from all the team there from outside security to bar staff to those on the doors into the auditorium. Thank you for helping to make the evening so enjoyable.
P. B.
Amazing show - That'll Be The Day. Always worth the money I have never been disappointed.
J. L.
Good clean facilities and show was great back again soon for we will rock you 😀😀
M. S.
The panto, Beauty and the Beast was fabulous. Great sets, magnificent costumes and Mr Tumble is amazing with the kids.
S. I.
Readings only venue for this type of thing, very dated and needs some time and money spent on it.
Staff super friendly
M. Z.
I went for a classical concert, atmosphere was amazing. Great concert!
J. I.
Great medium size venue. Comfortable seating. Able to see and hear the act quite clearly. Jools was great live. Would go again depending on the act.
N. R.
Always great experience, great show and good choices of refreshments.
R. P.
Very good night with the Bootleg Beatles. Full house and lots of sound!
C. C.
Great venue (set up as a stage, not seen as configured for snooker!)
Expect queues for toilets.
Overall experience was otherwise a solid, 'good'.
L. G.
Loved the venue and the show That'll Be the Day.
E. F.
Very nice venue
There are enough Ladies toilets!!!!??
S. M.
Great night watching Australian pink floyd. Amazing band.
On the down side we were told had to have your covid passport as such.
Know one I saw even myself never even looked at our passport.?
S. C.
Great venue, Great sound and lovely people
M. M.
Great Panto, Good seats. But the Hexagon is a bit past its prime. Needs a big revamp to really compete with other venues in nearby towns.
G. C.
Great local theatre but disabled parking can be a problem. Also limited lifts for disabled.
J. D.
Row D seats were great. Service at the bar was slow from some staff to the point that we had waited the entire interval for a drink and didnt get served until after the act had restarted!
A. S.
Great venue with cafe/bar space that means everyone can enjoy a drink over some conversation before/during and after the shows.
Great Venue.
P. R.
Quite relaxed about entry into the theatre although there are glass dividers between the customers and the bar people. Good view of the stage from all areas.
T. M.
Went to see Aladdin tonight and yet again it was a fantastic performance. The cast really jel together. The panto is funny, entertaining and just brilliant!!! Our 6th year of going
H. H.
I really like this theatre. It's spacious and every seat had a good view
a. w.
Very good show, nice to see Jasper Carrott live
A. L.
Nice, intimate yet spacious venue. We went to see the Henley Symphony Orchestra - they were great and the acoustics were excellent. Noticed that there are a wide variety of interesting performances there. It's very close to a car park, but we know it can get busy there, but it was no problem for us to park further away at the Oracle and do the 12 minute walk.
T. C.
A great spacious venue with seating where you can always see everything onstage. Friendly, helpful theatre crew who know exactly what's going on and a pleasant atmosphere in the front of house, with excellent bars. Parking and access can be a bit confusing due to the multi-level system and having to navigate the road and car parks, so make sure you've clocked the ways in and out before going. Overall would definitely recommend for a really enjoyable experience.
M. K.
Saw James Morrison, didn't dissappoint, bar closes a little early though
K. K. B.
Good venue, own parking which cheaper. Felt over priced soft drinks @£3 a small can off coke. Take ur own.
D. F.
Went to go and see in the night garden with my little one and she loved it
L. J.
Recently visited great show, but why is know body, checking for covid passports like the government said they should
o. g.
Saw Ben Fogle's talk here whoch was excellent. The venue was lovely and clean, still had some good social distancing measures in place and the staff were really helpful.
A. F.
It's a good provincial theatre that hosts lots of good shows. We have seen Killer Queen and are about to see Facinating Aida there in the near future
R. M.
Nice venue, well set up for large events and staff were efficient at serving drinks in the interval. The comedy show was awesome! Lots of female toilets which is great but a pretty big downside is half of them were blocked and almost overflowing by the interval - I think the plumbing might need upgrading!
M. G.
Great show, we saw Cinderella and it's our 3rd year of coming to the pantomime. We love it, it's brilliant! The show is put together brilliantly and is hilarious for adults and children.
Only downside for me, is the cost of snacks and drinks etc. £2 for a small pot of crisps is very expensive.
J. S.
It was amazing to members of staff were so accommodating Russell howard gig they have been really good I give big complimentary to to brilliant hosts who have gone above an beyond in helping me and smurf the two stars being Franklin and Jo who helped us get something to drink even they we couldn't get the advance order drinks Jo help us with getting drinks and Franklin organise them to come to our seat and Even got us extra milk ,Jo helped us by chatting t smurf about d&d while we wait for a ride home and he kindly sat on a chair so I could lean smurf on to reset his position ,they have been nothing but kind Franklin clearing the crowd so we had access to the bathroom
It was great customer service and both men have my great thank for making the experience so special for us both
R. G.
Panto time, good views from all seats, easy to access and friendly staff.
S.
I was at the Russell Howard gig on the 7/08/21, and I had a most enjoyable time. I would specially like to mention Joe and Franklin, who were members of staff that went above and beyond to assist me when i was at the gig.
N. J.
Brilliant pantomime every year. Great staff and welcoming space for families.
G. K. M.
Superb Panto (Beauty and the Beast) and service from all of the front of house staff. Great theatre, thank you.
M. S.
Great venue, very slow and expensive bar .6 pints £35!!!
A. G.
Lovely intimate venue that whose disabled services were excellent. The disabled platform gave a great view, and the staff were eager to help. Thank you!
J. W.
Fantastic performance. Extortionate prices for snacks and water is only available now in cans?! Lady who showed us to our seats was lovely and super friendly to the kids. Be aware that the very back section of seats upstairs might not be suitable for small children as there is a barrier in front that is quite high (although they do have booster seats available). The music was great. If suggest parking at the oracle or q Park as Broad Street car park has a horrible stairway entry at night.
M. H.
One of the better theatres in the area, helpful staff and good acoustics. The seats could do with replacing as they're slightly uncomfortable and for longer shows I imagine they'd become an issue. However the venue is clean and tidy, toilets are kept in good condition, and the overall ambiance makes for a really good evening out.
K. G.
Good shows .helpful staff. Bar good .
D. B.
Nice place and easy to get to. The venue has plenty of options for drinks etc. and the facilities are clean.
Every seat in the balcony section appears to have a good view.
You're not too far from the local restaurants and the parking in 30 seconds walk with plenty of spaces.
N. H.
Bit of a throwback to the 60's concrete structure, however a worthwhile venue for arts, comedy & concerts. Good view of the stage from tiered seats at ground level, good acoustics and a good all round feel to the venue. Lots of concessions & drinks available (at a price); you should have a good night out there.
m. f.
Cracking night hospitality a++ rolling stones Havana moon great sound 😎😎
L. P.
Absolutely amazing show with Anton Du Beke and Giovanni Pernice in Him & Me. The Hexagon does ask you to wear a mask during the performance, but most people removed them. This did spoil the experience a bit.
T. C.
Great to be back with a live show. The Covid-19 check before entry to the venue was done very smoothly and efficiently.
I. R.
I like this theatre , friendly with lots of nearby pubs and restaurants .
S. W.
Visited to see the kids perform in a schools production. Town centre location so plenty of places to eat and good parking. The theatre is very tired now and probably needs knocking down and rebuilding. But it's okay and the council have done their best to keep it going - it's clean and tidy so feels quite well looked after.
J. F.
A very happy evening was had by all of my party. Friendly and helpful staff, brilliant pantomime.
M. J.
I attended a classical concert at Hexagon a few weeks ago. Getting to the venue is very easy and the venue itself while old is kept maintained well. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I don't find the brutalist architecture inside and out particularly appealing but my main criticism concerns the sound quality. The music just dies off very suddenly. There's very little echo which I suppose is great for plays and listening to people speak but for classical concerts it makes the orchestra sound much less imposing.
K. D.
Great theatre with good seating. Get a good view of the stage mostly everywhere. Clean and good service during the interval. Would definitely go again. Parking in the butts centre car park not great and a bit iffy at night.
G. B.
Recently went to see Shamar here. Was a nice venue . Not too big so your never to far away from the stage
R. E.
The Hexagon is showing its age and very poor legroom. Good acts though and John Bishop was quality.
F. Q.
Can't really complain. It's not a massive venue and pretty tired now but it's still clean, well managed and there are very few seats with a bad view. I'd steer clear of the front row up on the balcony because the view is quite badly blocked by the railing in front, even for adults. Good experience overall.
M. H.
Although it is an aging building it is being kept in good condition, staff friendly and chatty. The size of the stalls area is compact, so everyone gets that upfront and close feeling to the stage. The seating is reasonably arranged and tiered to try and make the best viewing for all. Cafe prices are inline with most coffee chains you would find on the high street. There is plenty of seating and bars spread around to not feel too packed until the interval that is! A 15 minute turn around for comfort breaks and refills is a bit of a challenge and more so when your mobility is restricted. I loved the show and enjoyed my time and will visit again.
M. P.
Although the immediately surrounding area looks a little rundown, the Hexagon itself is a gem of a venue. All sorts of shows are running there and it's run well to ensure our enjoyment. Location is convenient, there's nearby car parking and it's only about 10 minutes walk from the train station. Friendly staff at box office, on doors, and at the bar.
S. W.
You go to the theatre to see a performance, and most venues arrange their seats so that only the chosen few have good visibility. Luckily the Hexagon has staggered and sloped its seats so that pretty much everyone has a clear view of the stage. Great venue with loads of excellent performers to see. Two "buts": there are always mile-long queues at the bars (GET MORE STAFF) and the legroom is very limited; my tall husband has to fold his legs up like origami.
C. S.
Very spacious building friendly staff.
The Amy Macdonald show was excellent.
Would go again.
L.
Absolutely fantastic as always.cant wait to take my daughter there again.
J. K.
Amazing panto as ever! Cannot recommend the annual Panto enough! It's the best!
M. R.
Excellent place to see DreamBoys. Great facilities & a quite cool bar. Loved interaction with one of the adorable male strippers. Staff seemed friendly & on the ball. Very memorable for all kinds of reasons. Air conditioning was very helpful on a hot day. It is quite easy to find as is relatively near Reading train station which is helpful for visitors. If I lived in Reading then I would certainly go to the Hexagon more often as as is an excellent venue - esp for DreamBoys !
R. V.
Lovely theatre with a good atmosphere
P. C.
I like this venue, not to big and good views from pretty much everywhere. Car park right next door is tricky to find, signed as Mall car park, but worth looking for as very convenient. Quite a wide range of events, live music comedy and theatre.
P. M.
It was brilliant night watching the dubliners
p. d.
Watched the amazing post modern jukebox last week fantastic night great intimate venue good staff friendly. ( only criticism would be they need to make it clearer that you can not take any drinks in at all I had a smoothie which was taken and given back at the end.) Understandable reasons but make clearer on booking.
F. C.
First visit to see a comedy featuring Count Arthur Strong. Parked in the mall nearby paid £4.00 for 3 hours so good value.
Exit brings you out by TK Max and right opposite is The Hexagon.
Only had a drink at the bar, my CAMRA loving husband was not imp6with the beer on offer. There is a cafe available too.
Could do with more seating. Toilets are immaculate and lots of cubicles in the ladies, no long queues for once. We sat in row C seats 44 and 45 probably a little too close a few rows back and may seats 47 and 48 would be better.
All in all a good visit.
R. E.
Some very good acts appear here. However the seating is not as comfortable as in other regional theatres that I have visited, and the sound system is not the best. This is a shame because if these two items were addressed then this would be my preferred theatre to visit rather than travelling miles to see acts that are also appearing at the Hexagon!
R. L.
Seen better days, but has wide variety of good shows. Well stocked bar and snack options.
A. S.
Avenue Q, stalls row G, stage left. The stalls to row G are on a flat floor so if you're short you might struggle to see if you're behind a taller person. Didn't buy a drink, as the interval queue was too long (but you can pre-order). However as a price guide, 1/2 pint of coke was £2.50 with a pint £3.50. As an entertainment venue, can't really complain. Fair prices and a reasonable view.
S.
Went to Peter Pan with Justin Fletcher. Great show my son really enjoyed it.
But I doubts about the venue. Hygiene standards in the Cafe were pretty poor from what I saw and was massively over priced.
So go and enjoy a great show there and be merry, just do the eating and drinking elsewhere...
M. H.
Good local theatre. All seats have a good view
C. G.
Great venue with parking. Refreshments and great acts and plays avaliable
C. O.
Another brilliant panto, great venue and great staff.
N. O.
Full of asbestos and needs updating, however there have been some quality famous people in this venue so I have to give it a 4 out of 5.
Known by the locals as the Pentagon as opposed to the hexagon.
Like a miniature Albert hall. Parking used to be good when it was owned by the council but since being privatised you feel the pinch as they squeeze the money out of your wallet.
C. B. ..
Booked tickets 🎟 recently over the phone 📱, box ☐ office ⛣ were very helpful and very kind and understanding with their patience over the phone 📱 when booking my tickets 🎟 with them.
Looking forward to seeing you for the shows in the new year, that I have booked with you "The Hexagon Theatre Reading. Thank you.
Looking like a good line up 👆 of acts for 2019, see you soon.
R. T.
A good venue for all sorts of show. The service for pre-show food is appalling though. Only 6 simple choices and it still took 40 mins to arrive plus the wait to place an order with the one server. Really bad planning, but it mustn't detract from the great shows and acts they get. Parking easy too.
K. T.
Staff are just so welcoming nothing was to much trouble . Great access for wheel chairs. Lovely cafe This years pantomime was Cinderella and it was absolutely amazing we travel from wales a group of mums & dads to see justin & paul doing a fantastic job pantomime every year excels,
Thank you for being so kind and taking the time to greet us thank you , amy & friends
S. E.
Saw the Proclaimers at the Hexagon tonight, this is the best of their concerts that we've been to and we're in double figures now. There was just something about the set and the rest of the audience that made this one very special, they've all been special but this one had something extra. A great night.
L. M.
Always lovely staff and a great selection of entertainment at a variety of places. This year I've seen James Acaster, foil arms and hog, Josh Widdicombe, Rhod Gilbert and Rob Beckett. The theatre itself is quite outdated but chairs are fairly comfortable. Air conditioning is OK but wasn't effective on hottest day of the year but in winter, the heating worked well. Highly recommend, you can order drinks before the show, in the interval or you can pre-order before you find your seat for the interval to beat the queue!
G. P.
Not a bad venue at all ...pricey drinks mind! But same story everywhere these days.
N. R.
Went to see Cinderella with the family and some friends. We all had an amazing time, just like with Aladdin last year. Hexagon staff were friendly which made the experience all the more pleasant. Looking forward to going back for the next panto!
D. L.
Great venue. Sound and seating always good. They book a variety of different acts and performances. We've seen plays for the children and comedy and music for us.
J. H.
Went yo see Bootleg Beatles. They were amazing it was a birthday present from my son ..but I was in the balcony had awful trouble getting and sitting down as i have bad knees ,there should be some kind of rail to get hold on. Thankfully there was lots of people who helped me ... I did have a great night x
R. H.
The Hexagon is the most convenient venue for concerts. Parking is close and the venue is easily accessible directly from the car park. It's an intimate venue which means that their isn't a bad seat in the house.
A. M.
I have seen some good and excellent shows here but it is showing it's age. The acoustics could be better as well. Shame really as it does not attract the best bands/singers/shows etc but on the plus side it is reasonably priced and some well named performers use it as a proving ground for bigger venues.
D. C.
Performing here is amazing and watching is really cool as well. My only issue was when I came outside during a performance and asked a member of staff where the toilet was but they sent me back to watch the performance because it was "rude" to interrupt.
D. F.
Excellent venue. Very well organised considering the current climate. Very friendly staff
M. E.
Decent theatre, there is an on site car park, they have a variety of shows throughout the year. I've been here many times for Christmas Panto as Reading are lucky that Justin fletcher (Mr. Tumble) is local, so children are really spoiled to see him in Panto. The children particularly enjoy the Panto, these sell out quickly so it's advised to buy your tickets early.
H. C.
Great show lights and sound production spot on, but not very easy to get round if you have any problems with stairs. Not a huge selection of drinks on the bar but fairly priced for what they did have.
C. P.
Despite it requiring modernisation, always a pleasure- a show at the Hexagon, especially Panto
J. C.
This quite a nice place, came here for Safe Drive, Stay Alive, very interesting and sad presentation. Nevertheless the seats were reasonably comfy and the view was good from where I was sitting (bottom right) the only improvement which I would have is that there was too much smoke coming out of the smoke machine when it wasn't necessary making it hard to see what was on the screen, other than pretty great.
P. B.
Hexagon is a good venue for seeing everything from stand-up comedy to panto. Easy to park under the building and a good sized bar.
Can be a bit if a crush in the bar at the interval but no different to any other entertainment venue.
A. D.
While the outside may look quite dated the downstairs bar area and the loos are modern. The theatre itself is a great set up and had a great evening watching Bill Bailey although it was very hot!
G. R.
Went to watch bill Bailey and surprisingly, as a 15 year old I enjoyed it alot. Anyway this is about the hexagon. I felt the infrastructure of the building is very architectural and nice to look at. However, seats were wobbly and somewhat uncomfortable chairs. During the break, viewers were free to stay around the bar (with a good selection) and go outside. They had blocked off the bench area which was quite disappointing. Overall, good service and a good time.
K. P.
This is my local Theatre and I highly recommend it for seeing comedians (I'm sure it's great for other performances too but I haven't attended any myself).
Everywhere I have sat has given an excellent view of the performer meaning you don't miss the all important facial expressions. I often chose to sit on the balcony but group d floor sitting is also good.
So far I have seen Russell Brand, Sarah Milligan and Russell Howard here and I'm off to see Russell Brand again in October this year.
I can also recommend the annual Panto which for your children often features beloved presenter Justin Fletcher.
The actual venue is dated and needs some investment but not enough to affect your time there I personally feel.
J. *.
Brilliant Christmas pantomime venue. Very helpful staff. Poor small upstairs loos so best to use ground floor facilities in intervals so you don't queue and miss the start of the second half!
C. F.
Nicely set-out theatre with a variety of entertainment genres. The only problem is that you have to use the multi-storey car park which is tough to pay at the machines (always a queue) and tough to get out of.
D. A.
Drinks expensive but level 42 were amazing good venue and nice atmosphere.
M. S.
Not so much shabby chic as just shabby. Every performance I've seen here just seems second rate, and I've seen some great acts here, like Jethro Tull and Hawkwind, witnessed performances from Beethoven piano recitals by the amazing John Lill, Verdi operas, old school musicals like Carousel! and pantomimes with the inimitable Justin Fletcher.
The one exception was Bjorn Again, who are just magical everywhere.
Somehow this venue strips a performance of most of the charisma.
Cafe has a poor selection of overpriced bites, ice cream is outrageously expensive, tickets are overpriced - but you can tell the staff try hard, and they're generally very nice to patrons.
Something obviously keeps me going back...
Y. M.
Went and watched Australian Pink Floyd there. Quite nice venue in the center of Reading. Haven’t had any drinks, so don’t know how expensive they are. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
S. F.
This is a good theatre and shows are usually high quality. For kids shows (pantomime) you have to pay a token amount for booster seats (the ones you get to use for free when you spend £3 for a kids a.m. cinema ticket - eight times less than a pantomime ticket).
You also have to debate the problems of availablity of loose change with the box office, and prove that you don't have anything smaller by letting them see the contents of your wallet; after which they reveal that they do in fact have change available after all.
This would have been unnecessary if they had mentioned that the seats we were booking we restricted view for a child as we would have booked different seats if we had known.
Plenty of room for improvement.
C. G.
Lovely theatre, pleasant staff and excellent acoustics. With the large Broad Street Mall car park just next door, it's a great venue. Highly recommended
S. E.
Good venue. Minor problem with member of audience with baby. Clearly inappropriate to take child to concert even if it was afternoon. Sadly theatre may have to explain to audience members.... Friendly staff. Shame people put staff in such a position.
S. Q.
Nice little venue with good seating and bars, except the bottom stalls seating that is removable seating all on one level, which feels more like being in a school hall (although seats are comfy). Avoid front stalls and it's a nice venue.
D. S.
70s build concrete theatre. Has a lot of history and used to have all the big names visit. Has unfortunately lost some of its prestige but still a lovely venue. Not too big and easy to get to and get around.
J. S.
Directions to the venue aren't the best when traveling at night so checking before hand will help find it. If you are planning on drinks then expect long queues. Prices are reasonable at approximately £2.50 for a soft drink or half pint. They do allow pre-ordering before the performance for collection at the interval.
Directions for seating can be a challenge of you haven't been here before so the online plan can be of limited help.
A. F.
Went there for a Christmas panto which was great as usual. This year it was a Peter Pan one. That said, the venue was extremely busy as usual. Had to queue to the loo as usual:) will certainly go next year because the kids loved it and that is all the recommendation I personally need.
C. P.
Went to see Jason Manford here back in January and was not disappointed. I didn't know what to expect from the Hexagon but I was pleasantly surprised, it was smaller inside than i expected but that gave a better atmosphere and the seats were very good. If you look on their website and see something you like I would highly reccomend going to see something/someone here.
S. S.
Great venue to enjoy Abba tribute band Bjorn Again! However, the Hexagon management really need to post a seating plan on their website accessible to the general public once they have booked their tickets!
K. S.
We sat in the front row but to the right of stage for Avenue Q and the sound was poor - difficult to hear the vocals. Not sure if this was just down to this show/performance but suggest getting seats which are central to the stage
T. F.
The positive is that where ever you sit the view of the stage is very good, unfortunately the area around the Hexagon is scruffy, dark and unpleasant
l. m.
Best panto ever!
M. P.
Although the immediately surrounding area looks a little rundown, the Hexagon itself is a gem of a venue. All sorts of shows are running there and it's run well to ensure our enjoyment. Location is convenient, there's nearby car parking and …
S. W.
Expensive but a quality venue

You go to the theatre to see a performance, and most venues arrange their seats so that only the chosen few have good visibility. Luckily the Hexagon has staggered and sloped its seats so that pretty much everyone has a clear view of the …

Watched the amazing post modern jukebox last week fantastic night great intimate venue good staff friendly. ( only criticism would be they need to make it clearer that you can not take any drinks in at all I had a smoothie which was taken and given back at the end.) Understandable reasons but make clearer on booking.
N. O.
Full of asbestos and needs updating, however there have been some quality famous people in this venue so I have to give it a 4 out of 5.

R. M.
Nice venue, well set up for large events and staff were efficient at serving drinks in the interval. The comedy show was awesome! Lots of female toilets which is great but a pretty big downside is half of them were blocked and almost overflowing by the interval - I think the plumbing might need upgrading!
J. *.
Brilliant Christmas pantomime venue. Very helpful staff. Poor small upstairs loos so best to use ground floor facilities in intervals so you don't queue and miss the start of the second half!
D. C.
Multipurpose entertainment venue in the middle of Reading. Has some great acts and shows. After the show you can join the longest car park ticket machine queue in the world, followed by the free-for-all to get you car out.
Visit soon before they knock it all down for redevelopment.
A. B.
First time visitors to Hexagon. Great set up with parking and restaurants next door. Great show too
C. D.
Brilliant performance. Helpful staff and Justin Fletcher very good and said hello to disabled mum in wheelchair. Thank you for an enjoyable afternoon.
k.
Nice venue for small intimate shows
T. F.
The positive is that where ever you sit the view of the stage is very good, unfortunately the area around the Hexagon is scruffy, dark and unpleasant
B. L.
Good selection of shows. Good sized theatre with good views from everywhere. Small seats. Bar was closed during the show so long waits st the bar during the interval. Good location with parking
B. P.
It's a good venue for comedy, but you want to be in the stalls. The balcony doesn't have much legroom. It's a bit dated, but nice enough. Horrible to look at from the outside though!
M. P.
Great show, nice to be back in a crowd. A well managed event.

AFRO CELT SOUND SYSTEM 18/11/17
Great bands but the evening was spoiled by poor management at the Hexagon ! You pay for a seat but have to try and see through a sea of bodies getting up to constantly re-fill their pints and dance in the process..I had to shift a security guard at one point who decided to stand right in front of us ! I fully appreciate that both bands on the bill make people want to dance and applaud that, but when you pay for a seat you expect to be able to see the bands..they were a visual whirlwind but it would have been nice to sit and listen/watch at the same time. They should not have put seats in the lower arena so us old Victor Meldrew types who actually just want to see and hear a band would have got ticket in the upper tiers or went in to the lower arena fully aware that we would have to stand all night ! Anyhow.....if you get the chance go see Afro Celt Sound System....bloody brilliant :)
Hexagon...get YOUR act together......
P. J.
Wow what a fabulous afternoon my daughter and I had yesterday when we came to see Cinderella for the 1st Panto of the year. It was way more than i expected and my daughter didn't stop laffing, shouting and singing along.
A huge thank you to Justin and Paul who took time to have a photo and sign her programme. You have made her Christmas. Ty Kerrie Thomas from Special Movers for organising this fantastic day out. Merry Christmas to everyone.
A. W.
Great venue, a bit dated and the bar is chronically overpriced!
C. z.
Pretty good sound ok venue long queue for drinks
M. P.
Great venue. One of those theatres where no matter where you sit, you don't feel far away from the stage and have a great view. Will definitely go again!
A. J.
The venue isn't bad! But parking can be a nightmare, especially getting out, it tends to relatively easy to park but with only one entrance on foot to get in/out the car park, it is probably worth parking 10 minutes away and saving yourself an hour of queueing for a ticket and then queueing in the car to get out!
m. m.
It's best years may be behind it. But still love coming to see a show here
T. T. n. R.
Built in the mid '70's the Hexagon building is almost beyond its 'still by date'. However the building is relatively comfortable and still hosts many well known acts and performances. The sound system is dated so if you go to a performance look for one that has an orchestra or live music.
D. R.
Readings premier theatre but unfortunately it's not big enough to attract big shows or acts.
I would like to see a darts event snooker return or even pool.
This is a large town with a large population & it needs a venue that major acts can play
M. F.
Great venue, but why only take cash for ice creams??? 😕
J. C.
Good beer and great comedy
R. H.
Went to the Hexagon in Dec 16 to watch Snow White with the kids. The show was great but the place and the whole area really needs tearing down and something modern put in. The sound system is not good either. The area around the Hexagon is also a bit dodgy and there was a distinct whiff of Jamaican tobacco in the air when we left. There were a lot of lads in hoodies skulking around in the shadows near the market so it didn't feel safe..
S. J.
I went there with my scouts kids group and we enjoyed an amazing show. All facilities were clean, everything runned smooth. We will definitely stick to our tradition and come back.
F. B. T.
Big shout to the hexagon for exchanging our tickets for yesterday's show for today when we turned up a day late! Disaster averted. Would have had 4 very disappointed grandchildren. Thanks for great understanding and customer service.
S. M.
Very good entertainment really enjoyed it .
D. M.
Lovely evening venue x
M. A.
The only reason for 4 stars is purely down to parking costs, which may or not be down to the venue. Apart from that I was very impressed with staff and also the choice of food and drinks at a reasonable price.
p. w.
Panto this year was absolutely awesome.
Thank you very much for putting it on this year
S. E.
Great space for concerts with good acoustics. Classical orchestras are particularly suited to this venue for top quality performances.
J. L.
Really helpful staff, viewing is good. Queues for drinks and loos less so!
B. w.
I like this place you can always see the act wherever you sit. It has a bar and food and parking very nearby. Always enjoy my visit here it is a shame they want to pull it down although it is getting old. But I would rather go to a concert here than any other place I have been to.
G. M.
First time visiting The Hexagon to see Amy MacDonald and loved the layout and more intimate size. Really suits acoustic sets and good bars dotted around the venue.
H. A.
Showing its age a little; but the plays and staff are phenomenal, really lovely evening just a bit uncomfortable on the aged seating. I was surprised at how reasonable the drinks and food were too.
D. M.
Good little venue with a good atmosphere but could do with a little updating
T.
Great night ,Michael Macintar.....
A. Y.
Great night at the Hexagon again Amy McDonald just superb top talent 👍😎
J. F.
Went for a comedy gig and it was fine. However both the toilets and the bar were very very busy. Get there early or drink somewhere else first.
L. M.
Went to see Romesh. He was bloddy hilarious. The hexagon was good but the bar was ridiculous. The que to get a drink before and during the show was crazy. The hexagon was clean and the seats were comfortable
P. R.
Great venue. Never too far from the stage
J. D.
Great theatre. Staff were very helpful
R. C.
Saw the xmas panto with the kids which they loved. Seating is quite good with reasonable leg room. Good stage visibilty without too steep a clim be the little ones (we were in the mid circle)
R. S.
Good facilities - comfortable, modern theatre with good visibility and sound system. Located in the town centre with easy access and lots of parking if required.
T. P.
Went to see postmodern jukebox. Highly recommend to anyone. The hexagon is a great venue. Good views from everywhere. Drinks reasonably priced too
m. g.
Saw level 42 and it was good. Maybe they need to check sound levels. Venue good.
R. S.
Great venue/layout, with excellent facilities. Enjoy it before they decide to pull it down! Nearby parking is now very expensive (NCP), so park in the Oracle car park.
L. D.
Excellent venue , cheap tickets for a class act Mr Skinner
C. C.
Great place to go and watch a show of your choice. Very spacious and provide reasonable priced food and drink at the bar. They also sell ice cream in the interval.
H. T.
Always enjoy visiting this venue
K. R.
Great venue, plenty of bars/cafés to grab a pre show drink or snack. Nice auditorium with friendly and helpful staff. Definitely hoping to come back
D.
Very compact place and good shows happening frequently
J. B.
Good theatre. Went to see Cinderella, an excellent panto lead by Justin Fletcher and cast. The ensemble were excellent too.
S. D.
Somewhere different to go on an evening out. Saw 'Here Come The Girls' which was 3 of the Strictly Pro Girls. Seemed to be aimed at a younger audience - particularly those little girls aspiring to be like them ;-)
B. M.
Hexagon is a handy place for us and we go to a few shows/concerts a year, the last one being Status Quo. Best to park in Chatham Street car park about 10 mins walk, rather than Broad Street Mall, because when you come out, there is loads of queues up the stairwell to the ticket machines and then there is a queue to get out of the car park.
T. T.
We always go there with the kids. Every show they have seen the kids have loved it. It's a great evening or afternoon out. Kids happy means mum and dad are happy
M. C.
Nice Theatre. to visit hope to get back again soon to see more shows in the future .
M. W.
I don't think any money has been spent on upkeep of the hexagon for some time. It's looking very tired. That said, we had a great trip out and enjoyed the show.
S. M.
Went to support my mates at UKBFF held here. This revenue is nice not so modern but was a good platform. Car park is expensive and only accepts coins or pay via app ringgo
S.
Nice venue, staff helpful and friendly.
Refreshments are way overpriced!!
J. C.
Nice theatre, would get hirer up seating another time. Bar staff were prompt with service, albeit a little pricey.
D. B.
Been here to watch a few shows now, from kids shows to adult shows. The hexagon has been part of Reading for many years. Its the only place in Reading to watch shows now. It could do with a re vamp. But the staff are freindly and the shows are great.
A. E.
Brilliant
C. S.
Pink Floyd (Australian).
Great venue
M. L.
a great venue 👌
M. H.
Well located and pretty good view from anywhere in the arena. Some of the decor feels a bit dated, but you soon forget about that when watching a show!
S. B.
Great show. Very busy. Need more staff serving drinks. Steps fairly steep.
Z.
Good facilities and good show
s. w.
Amazing pantomime will come again next year 😀
M. S.
Good seats, good show and surprisingly easy to get away after the event. Only downside, drinks were very expensive.
N. T.
Smallish venue, friendly staff, venue is a bit dated and basic.
A.
Great show but please please don't do the same old ghost thing fir Christmas 2019. Will have to do it again then won't we. Same old at least 3 years running. Change it please
J. A.
Good facility and central location in Reading centre so has plenty of nearby parking options. Need to perhaps up their game with the range and quality of entertainment based on their current programme as far as I'm concerned.
D. B.
Nice venue and bar area. But drinking out of plastic cups is so poor. Assume they were expecting trouble from shaking Stevens fans
C. M.
Great venue. Not to big and easy accessible facilities, but there are lots of stairs though!!
c. k.
Not been their for 30 years just as I remember it
Was a good night
S. M.
Great venue for all sorts of events. If going by car you might want to park at Oracle Riverside, otherwise you'll get stuck as everyone tries to leave the nearest car park at the same time!
P. W.
Everything is streamlined, from the ordering of the tickets online to collecting them at the theatre. The staff were helpful and friendly. The building is dated but it can still deliver a great evening out.
C. G.
Good shows on here. Usually quick to get in and show tickets. Often a queue for the bar. Lack of ladies toilets upstairs and decor could do with an update.
J. M.
Great auditorium and cafe's/bars. Wish the postcode took you to the lower entrance for drop off or parking as complicated if you don't know Reading!
y. a.
Enjoying a lovely evening watching the AMAZING Anton Du Beck dancing with Erin and backing support dancers. Singer from Strictly Come Dancing - great voice - fantastic orchestra - lovely evening with hubby xx
K. L.
Just seen Jethro tull in concert there, very good venue
T. C.
A bit dated now, and seating is basic, but still enjoyed many a show here over the years and sure I'll be back again soon...
S. W.
Expensive but a quality venue
M. E.
Excellent venue, good gigs, good parking, good bars.
D. P.
Love going to the Hexagon, the pantomimes are always a great, prices for sweats drinks and especially the flashing lights (you can buy) are steep but on the whole a great experience.
K. B.
Not easy to find if you don't live in the town. Nice venue outside. Easy to find your seats. Good atmosphere
E. E.
Pleasantly refurbished and nice venue although doesn't open an hour before the show as per their website and bar a bit disorganised.
T. K.
Not the most modern venue but charming in its way. Acoustics are decent, and just as importantly the bar service is pretty quick.
M. N.
Good venue, sat in balcony area with good visibility of stage and sound was also ok. Parking relatively easy and cheap right on doorstep.
M.
Watched the show 'Fame' on UK tour. Spectacular, fabulous and foot - tapping! !
I remember the movie from 1988!!
You will love it..:)
E. D.
Saw Jonathan Pie and Bill Bailey here. Its a nice space for stand up, good ice cream selection and a nice amount of leg room for tall people.
T. o.
A decent theatre at a reasonable price
B. L.
Bar needs more staff as we we not served in time in the interval maybe needs a makeover too but it gets some great comics in and staff are always nice hence the 5 stars
R. E.
Although this place looks a bit run-down, it’s such a good venue. The sound is good, staff are always friendly and the prices are really reasonable.
E. K.
Shalamar were amazing, great night to remember!! 😂 Am I right in thinking that was The Cool Notes backing singers??? If anyone remembers them?
C. H.
Over the years I have enjoyed a lot of shows and events here. It continues to get great acts and theatre companies in, worth following their events page and booking early to avoid disappointment.
O. R.
Nice place, but if you are six foot or over leave your knees at home if you are lucky enough to get balcony seats.
s. c. o.
Yes, I played in the Hexagon on Sunday. Won the category! Piano is a Stein way Concert Piano, around 8 feet, subtle tone and keys, I loved it!
C. B.
Amateur dramatic group The Sainsbury Singers performing Guy's & Doll's. Excellent - one of their best performances.
B. W.
Nice small-ish venue where you can sit in the balcony and still see the acts on the stage well. Bars and loos on each level.
g. m.
A great venue, all seats have a good sight of stage. And nice gin bar! 😁
B. G.
Friendly staff comfortable place
E. C.
Fantastic Christmas panto once again
Can't wait to reboot for next year's. Theatre was clean and staff were happy to help.
J. M.
The show was entertaining, but getting to the theatre was a nightmare. Signage was grim, and the paving on the approach to the theatre was dangerous in places.
F. T.
Did a poetry conference here, looked very nice and the different areas were accessible, but my legs were really cramped and i am 5'10
A. E.
Foyer à can get crowded until you find the other levels, theater is a good size whilst still feeling intimate, nearby parking though is expensive.
d. d.
Whilst the shows tend to be very good I'm afraid to say the Hexagon is in need of replacement by a newer bigger and more modern building. It's very dated by today's standards.
P. F.
Went to see Marillion - great band. The concrete structure is a delight to behold. Should be a listed building. (I jest)
D. P.
Great venue, although not much leg room in seats. Good bar service.
N. P.
Great venue, Frank Skinner was brilliant.
S. S.
Have not been here for years, had s good time went to see Drifters, the main reception looks like it has had a refurb, had a drink in the bar got served very quickly.
M. W.
I'm waiting for them to knock it down and build a facility appropriate to the size and importance of the town. Fortunately lots of other good venues around to compensate.
J. S.
Went there to see the kenny rogers and dolly parton tribute act .great show and fantastic venue. Will go here again soon.
S. D.
Small enough to be really well seated with great views, this place offers a great selection of entertainment.
J. w.
Watched John Agard, Carol Ann Duffy and Simon Armitage perform their poems and it was a really good experience. Would highly recommend.
i. b.
First time here. Great Theatre. Clean . Great ladies toilets, good facilities. Would recomend.
F. H.
Unique building, friendly staff. Holds a diverse range of interesting shows and concerts. Could do with more tables, toilets, etc.
P. S.
Panto this year (2018) again was a great time
Justin Fletcher(Mr tumble) & Paul Morse as the panto Dame again made the Aladin stoy great
A. P.
Have seen quite a few shows here. A good venue and easy parking right beside the theatre
H. W.
Venue had good facilities, lighting and comfy seats. Is located close to the centre of town and easy to get too.
I.
Small inside which I prefer, but beat of all, multiple exits, toilets and bars which makes things much easier. Good staff too and generally a good time.
C. H.
Good venue for gigs and shows. Slight gripe on last visit was it was very cold - I wish I had had a coat on!
F. S.
I would say that it could do with some new paint and updating but I think this place is a great venue and great for every age.
G. M.
Seats a little uncomfortable and food and drinks are expensive. But they have good shows and the staff are friendly.
S. S.
The seating arrangement is really good, the facilities are good too, attending the choir concert was an amazing experience.
L. R.
Great venue, friendly helpful staff..
J. P.
Had a lovely night out
s. p.
Wonderful atmosphere helped greatly by the amazing staff. A huge thank you to the woman who was staffing tonight as she saved my phone with a lot of precious memories!
B. H.
Any chance of World Snooker returning to THE HEXAGON?
P. T.
Good to see re open. Many steps in place for covid
R. L.
Fantastic show, Aretha Franklin song book, would recommend to all who love soul music.
N. S.
Excellent venue with good views of the stage. A real pain getting in and out of the car park.
A. B.
