Venturing back to the movie theater after the lockdown? Make a visit to this modern and impressive cinema and if you can, buy VIP tickets for a really enjoyable experience. Don’t over order the food and drink until you see what’s already included in the ticket price. Seating is adjustable and super comfy and separation between seats is ample. Go enjoy yourself!

Thoroughly enjoyed my experience of watching movie at the Showcase. On my first visit, I had to buy the premier tickets to the movie I wanted to watch, because all others were sold out. But it was worth the price. It cost £16.50 per person and it was a luxurious experience. The tickets included a sweet/savoury snack box.

This cinema is brilliant! Me and my wife went there for a treat and loved it.
The inside looks amazing with lots of light and great views of Southampton including the old city walls.
Plenty of restaurants including nandos and pizza hut to choose from on the ground floor with access to the cinema up lifts or escalaters.
All the screens have the latest surround sound systems and luxury leather seats with full recliner capability so you can get very comfy while watching your film.
The seats also have Cup holders for drinks.
There was a full selection of films on to suit all tastes including family and adult only.
Me and wife went to see jungle cruise which was brilliant👍.
Easy access to the cinema from west quay shopping centre and near the bus and taxi routes so you don't have to drive.
Parking is also available in the 2 car parks not far from the cinema.
Good choice of restaurants near the cinema as well with views of the old city walls.

Plenty of leg space. Place is very need. Very wide screen display. Great audio. Brings out the best of every movie played. Allows social distancing when booking sits. With Ice cream dispenser
S. H.
Since going to showcase we don't really go to other cinemas, especially if it's a big blockbuster then you can't beat it. The seats are comfortable and reclining, there is so much room and you can't see the heads of people I'm from of you - almost feel like you see in there on your own.

I guess I quite like modern design of the building...see what you think...
Good location with eateries and shopping around for half or full day out.
Cinema experience is great with space and individual Recliners for all.
Plenty of space in foyer. Cafe fine but refreshments always excessive pricing...( all the same).
Ticket prices tolerable for cinema experience.
Just need a good film. My first here was '1917'...excellent... if my comfort left me strangely uneasy with the subject matter on show...x
Last point...Not convinced big multiplexes care much for 'Independent' films..h

Great night, great venue and really nice staff and service
L. “. W.
Went to see Ghostbusters Afterlife. Was pleasantly surprised with the prize and the quality of the screen
M. S.
Amazing seats and experience. Makes cinema going extremely luxurious. Obviously though, you have to pay for the luxury so it's not the cheapest.
S. M.
Loved it we watched James Bond and the Xplus cinema was brilliant with the chairs and surround sound. Really comfortable for longer films.
A.
Great prices, great seats, all round good experience.
The only thing I would critique is they need to make it with online booking so you can't just leave 1 seat spaces. Wanted to see a movie but couldn't despite there being about 10 avaliable seats but they were all separated and I can separate children etc for a 2 hour odd movie and then we'd have to buy separate snacks etc. It's not like you're really squished in like sardines with those seats so no excuse to leave a seat gap
N. B.
The best cinema I have ever been to hands down. Ultimate comfort and massive screens. Was devostated when they stopped serving Tango IceBlasts and the replacement doesn't cut the mustard.
N. K.
Great place. Never been to a cinema in the UK before but I had a great experience. The seats were comfortable and the staff were amazing.
W. B.
Enjoyed first time movie date with my girl!
P. C.
Really great experience! Gallery tickets gives you access to a bar at the top level where you can get some snacks (included on gallery tickets price). No queue and a comfortable are to wait for the movie to start. The gallery seats are in the back of the cinema and are good for couples, since they have 2 seats side by side and a space between you and the other seat that is not your partner's. Really good sound system and image quality. You should try ir at least once.

First time ever going to Showcase. Booked it all online, but seems you can just turn up on the day and book your tickets and food.
Went to see Ghostbusters Afterlife and debated whether to see it in my local Reel Cinema or here. Decided to go here as it would be the first time back at the cinema since 2019, and wanted to experience what Showcase had.
Went for the xplus with gallery option. So had a nice snack box and a really nice seat in the top rows. Great view and have to say the screen quality was amazing, and the audio was next level to what you normally hear.
Only complain I have really is at the price of the gallery ticket with the bigger screen it's a shame you don't also get a small soft drink with the snack box, but that's my only real complaint.
Would go again for a big film that needs a big screen to enjoy more.

Probably my favourite cinema seat I have sat in with reasonable prices and great sound and quality screens. The seat has an electric recline function to prop your legs and allow you to lie back and relax. The facilities are great, new and well maintained. I would recommend this Cinema for your favourite films. Its a great all round package with many different screening types and experiences.
C. M.
Such a great cinema, I wish I hadn't moved to London as no other cinema compares! Comfy reclining seats, lots of room in each row (and mini walls between each row so it feels quite private), huge screens and great sound. The staff have also always been very pleasant. Always a treat when I get to go here but if I lived locally I'd be here all the time.
M. V.
The seating in the gallery screen rooms are very comfortable and roomy and the sound is awesome. However, the prices for drinks and snacks are bordering on the ridiculous. Eat before you watch would be my advice
J. A.
Going to have to drop a star for seat size. I'm tall, very tall and my head was well over the top of the chair so I couldn't rest my head. If your 6' or below your probably ok but at 6'7" or 2 meters the seat only came up to my shoulders. I'm sure you could figure out some sort of pillow to offer tall guests to solve this. Leg room was ample.
S. R.
Best cinema in Southampton maybe even Hampshire. Always clean and the staff helpful. Honestly you have to go here and forget the other cinemas, the reclining chairs make for a relaxed movie experience unlike other cinemas where you get to sit of basically a bus seat
C.
We had a good time the price for the tickets were reasonable, the staff were kind and helpful, the place looked polished and opulent and the seating luxurious. Thank you cinema de lux 👏
P. L.
Nice and modern cinema. The seats are comfortable and the sound is good. Nice place to watch a movie.
S. J.
The VIP seats are awesome! Very comfy and they recline, the snack box comes with it i found out as when i went to the VIP floor there was someone handing them out. Highly reccomend! So much better than any Cineworld or Odeon
T. Y. W.
The cinema has a large screen and really comfortable chairs. First time that I've been to a cinema with reclining seats!
V. P.
Showcase is definitely our cinema of choice. It's always clean and very comfortable. The staff are friendly, too. When we went yesterday, we had lost our booked tickets, and the staff were so helpful.
I would request that staff are taught not to make assumptions when dealing with people; I showed my CEA card and the young person assumed it was a senior's card; insulting but, thankfully, I know most people over 30 are considered old to teens.
A. G.
Love it here! A cinema where I can sit in comfort. Great prices for the level of comfort, space etc
A. B.
This was our first visit and a nice birthday treat for me. We had tickets for the gallery and the barman made us welcome and have the overview of the snack boxes that are included in the ticket price. So far, so good...
The decor is excellent and plenty of pleasant seating configurations for groups of all sizes.
The cinema itself is superb. Great screen, fantastic sound and super-comfortable seats.
The only reason this review isn't 5-stars is because when our sons went to buy 2 glasses of Coke, we expected change from the £10 they had. There was none! Free refills not included!! My bottle of Old Speckled Hen was cheaper.
Apart from the extortionate price of Coke, this cinema provides a very enjoyable experience.
G. T.
Easy to book, convenient to get to, very pleasant staff, comfortable seats and excellent view to the screen.
What's not to like, will return.
Q. T.
Visited many times and will be back very soon, my only problem this time was that you switched the lights on as the movie was half way and left them on till the end? Confused alot of us , kinda did spoil kids time enjoying the rest of the movie as it was bright , and some kids just kept plying around once the lights come on.
D. C.
Incredible cinema, very comfortable seating. Kind staff. Never disappoints.
M. T.
Epic. Saw a classic movie which didn't do the sound system justice, but those recliners - hell yeah!
I'll be returning for some sci-fi or action movie mayhem soon 👍
B. R.
One of the best Cinema in Southampton! The seats are super comfy with the recliners. Good service and clean place.
M. W.
Best cinema in town, by a long way!
Reclining seats as standard. Sound and projection is faultless and very clean.
M.
Really nice cinema, comfy seats, there was a mixup with the seats though where two sets of tickets were issued for the same seats, which was a bit of a bother (but luckily we were there first so we didn't need to fuss about/ move). Definitely will be going back though
P. H.
Clean, spacious cinema with lots of leg room, reclining seats and incredible sound. Booking online can be painful as the website is quite clunky. Paying the extra for the gallery nets you access to the Mayflower Bar with drinks in a proper glass and a sweet or savoury bento box. Insiders (membership free) get discounts on snacks and tickets on Sun, Mon and Tues but can only book one insider ticket at a time. Overall a much improved cinema experience.
J. S.
Nothing beats going to the Cinema to watch the latest release you're interested in, going to the top floor isn't a issue, you have to travel pass restaurant 🤤 and the staff are friendly & approachable, prices are fair for what you expect, and once you get into Cinema
You're treated like a king 😊, the chairs are really comfortable and adjustable, the sound is prefect and you really get submerged into the film, always a nice day out
w.
The best cinema in Southampton by far. Recliners, huge screens and Dolby atmos in every screen. Don't forget it's modern and when you buy your drink, you have almost a countless choice of what you pour in to your cup with a refillable option. Talk about great value.
P. H.
Best seats in any cinema I have been to. Food choices in the complex are good.
M. S.
Clean tidy nice place to relax.Staff very nice.Well worth taking in a film.Lots of places for a bite to eat before or after.😉
T. N. G.
By fair the best cinema experience I have ever been to. Personally don't get the point in putting staff in shirts though, the heating would kill me working behind the counters
L. R.
Regular date night....roomy and comfortable seats. Definitely worth getting a showcase membership for the discounts.
C. B.
Quiet and relaxing on a weekday lunchtime. Great seats.
S. F.
Very comfortable cinema, beautiful throughout. Fantastic atmosphere with great customer services
E. H.
Amazing cinema! Very clean, lovely staff and managers, I have received two emergency free ticket vouchers due to mistakes not directly related to the cinema. The chairs are all recliners with absolutely loads of room for people to maneuver down the aisles with out people having to tuck their legs in. They show loads of foreign films which is always a bonus!
E. O.
Super comfortable seats, well spaced and recline fully. Social distancing between customers was appreciated.
R. S.
Best cinema experience by far. Amazing adjustable seats. Reclining in the back row means you can't see some of the screen but totally worth it!
A. R.
Safety measures excellent. So much better not having to sit next to someone you don't know anyway.
Reasonable prices. Seats amazing especially after a busy day at work, my daughter was grateful to be able to put her aching feet up in the reclining seats.
s. w.
Love this cinema, soooo comfy, and clean, be ready to spend your dosh on the treats and drinks though 😉
D. (.
Love a good film, with options for bcomy seats and reclined comfort! Amazing chill out time
A. M.
Wow what an experience! We loved it and would pay that price again for the experience 👍👍
T. Z.
Very comfortable place to enjoy films and you can lay down for watching
R. P.
Always love coming to this venue to watch films in a comfortable setting, comfortable seats, nice snacks, great sound and picture!
O. S.
Loved it. Interior and exterior very nicely done. Reclining seats is a blast. Loved the audio. Be warned, the drink prices are absolutely extortionate. The food prices are half-reasonable (burger £4.10). For a large popcorn and large Tango ice blast I payed £9.45...more than for the ticket?!! Still, appears to be more affordable than Vue. Well worth the visit.
S. A. M.
Amazing cinematic experience. Saw Jungle cruise in 3D ...It was quite an experience. Very comfortable lazy boy chair seating. Good and clean toilet facilities. Recommended to visit.
L. &. T. N.
Very large screens especially in xPus.
Fab sound and picture quality.
Bond there was brilliant.
j. s.
Decent cinema at a decent price. Qell worth it if you have the 241 price deal
N. A.
Excellent, modern cinema. Great seats, good sound and picture.
C. l. C.
Amazing, visit was perfect, felt safe with new guidelines, seats are spacious and fully recline. Haven't been to a cinema in years but will definitely go back again
G. J.
If you're looking for a cinema experience like no other then fully recommend this place. On a date night we went for the gallery tickets and loved all the small touches from the service, the seats, you're just made to feel welcome.
Even if you're not splashing on the gallery tickets you can still get good value with standard seating. Sign up for insider, it costs you nothing and can save you a penny or two.
D. B.
Very nice cinema, clean and seats was comfortable.
S. U.
Wonderful experience, reclining seats and gallery sitting. Just can't fault it.
M. G.
Luxury recycling chairs... well if the film is naf the snooze will be rated... love it here.. great air con so if you feel a chill take a blanket or long sleeve top in... #snaaaaackssch
P. P.
Great cinema experience. Comfortable reclining seats, good sound system. There is a bar if having wine or beer in the cinema is your thing. It's first class all the way!
L. S.
A must go for date night, leather recliner chairs, amply food and entertainment options. Access able and helpful staff. Travel 30 miles every time because its worth it!
t. p.
Good quality screens and sound.
Better than going to leisure world and stepping over the crying drunks lying outside for sure.
J. P. (.
Awesome cinema. Probably one of the best in the south. Seats are amazing leather recliners that are super comfy. The screen is huge, pretty sure bigger than the imax at the odeon down the road and the sound was amazing. This has now become my go to cinema.
D. M.
Love the seats best cinema for comfort I've been in for years
B.
Awesome screen quality! Excellent Dolby ATMOS surround sound system in every screen. Recliner seating. Great prices. Friendly staff. Poor online booking system but a phone call is a simple workaround.
L. H.
Is a great cinema with great seating. But I feels the cinema screen size could be bigger. Plus they are very expensive tickets for a cinema
J. W.
Friendly staff, comfortable seating. We couldn't get our pre-booked tickets from the machine and the staff got it sorted in no time.
J. W.
Easy to access and always immaculately clean. The seats are extremely comfortable as well as being reclining. And all the screens are on the large to very large scale. Staff are very friendly and proactive which creates a very comfortable and safe environment.
As far as food goes, the prices are reasonable compared to other cinemas and the variety of snacks and goodies is huge.
If you are in Southampton and want to watch a film I would definitely recommend this cinema.
L. 3.
Always a great experience at Showcase Cinema de Lux,easy to book tickets and food/drinks online for collection before film.
Always very clean,5* with friendly, helpful staff.
J.
First time here watched Free Guy great film but in places found that the sound went just too loud.
Could be something with the film
Seats are great & comfortable service given was great too
N. H.
Very comfortable seating. Loads of places to eat, and next to the multi storey car parks.
C. S.
Excellent cinema extra wide screens, the latest technologies used for surround sound. Very comfortable.

A lovely experience. Very comfortable reclining seats, great picture and sound quality.
h.
Classy cinema with reclinable leather seats, really makes seeing a new film an event.
R. S.
Its the first time I've ever been to this cinema and the experience was fab. The things in place for corona were well organised and there was anti bacterial wipes and hand sanitiser throughout. The staff were really helpful and communication was great. The seats were extra comfy and the drinks were really good value for money. Will definitely again.
J. “.
Very comfortable and private seating. Sound is amazing. Perfect temperature.
N. L.
Clean environment. Parking is easy and not far away. Very easy to combine visit with shopping.

Comfy seats. Lovely and clean
N. W.
Great seats and lots of room. Taking children for a toilet break during the film is no trouble for others so great for younger families!
M. D.
Absolutely fantastic place and excellent ambience. Comfy lounge and chilled out place
P. M.
Superb cinema! I was very impressed with the whole shebang; seats, picture and sound!
S. T.
Great sound, visuals and large comfortable seats too.
D. R.
Omg! Amazing venue. Comfy seating is an understatement. Ultimate luxury seating with adjustable chairs. I am in awe and can't wait to go back. The picture and screen size was perfect and the sound was ambient and just the right level. Not too loud like other cinemas. It immersed you into the film, rather than being all you could process.
M. J.
Best cinema bar none in Hampshire, opt for the Gallery seats everything!!
M. B.
Very easy to book and collect tickets on arrival. Hand gel provided. Staff cleaning and making safe. First time and impressed by comfort and quality of speakers. Time to go back and enjoy cinema experience! Great to enjoy films on big screen again!
A. M.

Showcase Cinema details Lux @Southampton. Great cinema in the city centre. Definitely the best cinema in Soton. Good size area with multiple places to eat in the same complex and right next door to the #WestquayShoppingCentre and #HighStreet with all the associated transport links. Loved the comfy seat. The screen was huge and sound quality is brilliant.
A. B.
A whole new level of cinema going if you use the VIP Gallery, amazing seats and you can have a beer!
N. L.
We often visited cinema and my child likes 3d films, popcorn and vanilla cola.
J. P.
Amazing cinema! Will 100% be coming here again. Was really easy to book and collect tickets and food, the seats were really comfy and the atmosphere was amazing. Cheaper than Vue in Eastleigh as well 🙂

A new level in Cinema experience. What a way to watch films. Absolutely loved it. Watching all future releases here!!! Brilliant
K. M.
Very pleasant foyer staff comfortable seating in the screens
Big screens

Modern clean and spacious large screens and plenty of space in the seats
a.
The best cinema.Comfortable reclining chairs and plenty of room.Lines separated. We found it really helpful when taking our little ones for first cinema experience as they couldn't stay still for the whole movie but didn't disturb anyone at the same time.Food and drink choices could be better but we stick to basics so it's not too bad.
J. D.
An absolute amazing Cinema experience you really need to try.
M. J.
Worth it for the seats alone! Really comfortable and great huge screens and state of the art sound. Good range of food and drink too including a bar and a Costa! Love that I can have a hot chocolate with my popcorn! Also serve Ben & Jerry's ice cream which is always a win!
B. W.
Nice cinema, clean and comfy seats. Would recommend to anyone looking in Southampton looking to watch a new movie.

New Movies, Best Customer Service every time I’ve been!, Reclining seats are the best about this cinema!!!

Amazing cinema! Will 100% be coming here again. Was really easy to book and collect tickets and food, the seats were really comfy and the atmosphere was amazing. Cheaper than Vue in Eastleigh as well 🙂

Love this cinema, came with my 2 children to watch Peter Rabbit. They loved the comfortable seats and are already pestering me to go back.
G. M.
Good Cinema - but beware the Gallery with Kids. We were in the Gallery seats which were a great experience, but note that these seats are *not good* for smaller kids. There's a 4-foot wall in front of the back row of seats, presumably to stop people falling over to the row below. But it definitely obstructs the view of the screen, especially since you're in the back row, in line with the top-third of the screen. I was with my 5-foot son, and he could only just see the screen with the seat in its full upright position. I'm 6-foot, and could only recline my seat about half-way before I started to lose the bottom of the screen. There was a family next to us with kids much smaller, and most of them spent the movie sitting on the arm-rests or standing on the seats, which wasn't great for anyone...
C. C.
Best cinema we have ever been to! Sound and picture quality amazing. The inside and outside of the cinema is immaculate. Prices are well worth the money! Coca Cola Freestyle machine is brilliant, and the best part - the seating! Comfy, reclining leather seats. All in a great location of Southampton!
R. S.
It's just an all round great cinema.
D. J.
Love this cinema. The seats are so comfortable and I love how each row has privacy from the ones in front and behind. I found the staff rude, ambushing us as we got off the elevator and not letting me get a drink before walking around to the actual cinemas. If she wanted to check tickets, it would have been more appropriate for her to be near the actual cinemas. Food and drink was expensive but we couldn't figure out if it was a refillable drink. It would be 5 stats except for the rudeness of the staff.
L.
Great place to enjoy a movie. It's clean, modern and plenty of options to grab a meal before or after! Staff are pleasant and helpful.... And the way the seats are set out means no issues with people getting in the way of your view.... Who ever thought of that is a genius!
S. H.
Loved the spacious seats and the acres of leg room. Seats were also really comfortable, I don't think I moved the whole film. Slight grumble that it was difficult to find our seats as there were no row letters but thankfully not busy so just picked somewhere. Popcorn was a bit nondescript but Tango ice blast was amazing (if pricey!). Ticket prices felt reasonable for the quality of the cinema and would definitely visit again.
e. c.
Wow what a comfy cinema. Looking forward to another visit
B. P.
Best cinema in Southampton with big reclining seats.
H. “. C. C.
I really enjoyed how comfortable and relaxing it was, some cinemas can be very dirty but this one is extremely clean and there are many places to eat, for dinner, or just a quick snack. The seats can move back and forward and there is a seat rest as all which is optional. I would definitely recommend it especially as the films I have seen there are extremely good quality. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. There is a car park as well which (costs money) but right next to it. So if you want a comfy cinema that's the place to go.
S. G.
THE BEST cinema! Such nice comfortable reclining chairs. The rows of chairs are positioned in such a way that you never have someone's head in your view! Great screens and surround sound. Obviously a little more pricey than other cinemas but worth every penny. Love it 😊😊
G. B.
I think Showcase Cinema’s gives you the best cinema experience in the country.
C. B.
Good social distancing in place with gaps between groups. All staff were wearing plastic visors and plenty of anti bacterial gel to clean your hands. The cinema itself is very comfortable with reclining chairs and good view of the screen.
B. S.
Great place to watch your next movie with great staff and quality food (even if it is a little pricey)
V. C. T.
Always enjoy watching a movie there. Comfy seats, enough space to move around, adjust your seat to the position you like grab your snack and drink relax and enjoy. Ticket price for 2d around £11,not bad at for all the comforts you have. A lot options for drinks, snacks and food some comes in offers as well. Had a chicken burger £4.10and regular nachos with cheese for around £5. Also chips, onion rings, pop corn, hot dog, fries, sweets, and more to choose from. £1.50 for every 100gr of sweets of your choice. Very helpful and friendly staff. Parking space in west quay( after 5 o clock in the evening its £2 for as long as you stay) and around. A very good facility in the city centre that attracts lots of people. Every time visited enjoyed, recommend for sure.
D. H.
My preferred cinema in Southampton. Comfortable & spacious seating, decent selection of snacks and is always clean.
R. M.
It is slightly more expensive than some other cinemas but is well worth it. The quality of the sound, screens and seat is impeccable. It is brand new and very modern. The seats are large armchair sized and can be reclined, which is great if you have bad knees like me as they ache in regular cinema seats. There also a lot of room in the aisles to get past others.
j. w.
Amazing cinema, best toys I mean chairs🤪 great staff to.
D.
Been here a on multiple occasions and although the seats are comfortable and recline in all screens, they are noisy and are not cleaned often.
The price of the films are reasonable if you have an insider card and make the most of the off peak times. It is situated in a great location, central to everything.
I would rate this 5 stars if the cleanliness of the facilities maintained at a higher level.
D. O.
Love this cinema, came with my 2 children to watch Peter Rabbit. They loved the comfortable seats and are already pestering me to go back.
O. S.
Great cinema always clean. But most importantly amazing audio and visual performance in the screens. Love the odd visit to the gallery too for that extra bit of indulgence.
Standard seats are incredible, never get a stiff back. And can’t resist the material squeaking like a fart when altering the electric recliner.
Also, plenty of restaurants under the cinema to go to afterwards to discuss your favourite parts and worst parts of the film. I recommend destroying a five guys with a custom made milkshake!
K. D.
Best cinema I've ever been to! The seats are super comfortable and you don't have to worry about tall people sitting in front of you.
The cinema layout works really well with the sperate food stall and ticket sales. I just wish the food area had a better qué system.
The food tasted great, a little pricey but that's expected at a cinema. Overall, highly impressed.
N. C.
Lovely seating with plenty of room.
J. R.
Quality sound and resolution of films, friendly staff, certain covid guidelines in place, wheelchair accessible, toilets and food available on-site
C.
Fantastic viewing experience! Cosy seats, good food, novel drinks machine
J. W.
Absolutely amazing, loved going to this place. We decided to go with the gallery option and I have to say the price is worth it, the great big portion of nibbles, the private lounge beforehand, the reclining chairs that are high above the chairs in front and far below the chairs behind so you’ll never get in anyone’s way if you need to stand and stretch (not that you will) and nobody’s ever gets in your way either. There’s a little chair table that you can swing around in front of you to put your box on, and each chair has two drink holders. Dolby atmos sound is also phenomenal, definitely how to watch a film. I’m worried that no film experience will ever top this!
J. V.
We did the gallery for our movie. Well worth the extra. This theater is very friendly. The staff are very helpful. The gallery options are a brilliant way to watch your favourite movie. The seating is great and the atmosphere is lovely. Well worth your time to have a night out. The gallery bar is well stocked and the choice of coffees are brilliant.
C.
Plush seating, high quality food and drink and amazing surround sound. Whats not to love!
J. M. E.
I've been to Odeon for years but this cinema has won my heart over, worth the price for a ticket and a premium automatic recliner chair (for every single row). You can expect the usual pricey popcorn and drink (though their drink sizes are almost American). By far the best cinema to be graced in my home town.
Also sign up for their membership (it's free), if you happen to be a frequent viewer with Showcase. Each ticket you'll eventually save up on discounts for the next visit.
J. D.
This cinema has reclining seats, massive screens and something called the gallery and this is a true VIP cinema experience. There’s a bar, food included in the piece and the best place to sit. If you don’t want to do that the normal seats are very spacious and every seat is what odeon and vue would class as premium seating.
N. B.
If you like comfy reclining leather seats that make subtle fart noises when they move, then this is the place for you! All joking aside, the ~£15 pp for the luxury of comfortable seats, no one in front obstructing your view, having an alcoholic beverage and a difference to popcorn is alright. The service at the bar is also pleasant and quick. We have been into one screen which did smell funny once... but hasn't put us off too much. Deffo worth a try :)

The hard honest truth is that once you've watched movies here, you will find everywhere else a bit second rate. Yes, including at home, even if you have a decent setup and comfy sofa. It is the best cinema I've been to - picture is super sharp, audio well placed - loud but not deafening, no annoying led safety lighting that detracts from the film. It's entirely possible to imagine your row is the only row of people in the theatre, as it has very wide aisles and a wall between you and the next row down and up.
Minus points? The row lettering on the floor is a bit hard to discern in some of the screens - is that G or an H? and you WILL get the odd occasion where either you will misread the seat numbers and sit in say 8,9,10 instead of 7,8,9 - or someone else will - it can be a bit fiddly working out which seat is the one you've been allocated.
So get there while the lights are on!
You can take booze and drinks in, of course - and the seats are amazing - even after a few years, they are all working and feel brand new.
Showcase finally make paying to see a film worth doing - it feels like a proper night out going here. Bravo.

Who doesn't want reclining seats, food and beer at the same time! I went for a birthday treat, so got the fancy fancy seats. Amazing! Only problem was that I went for the sweat box. As there's hot chocolate sauce in there, they keep the lid on. Which made the popcorn go all soft
j. s.
OMG. I will never forget today. And more over, ever go to anywhere who don't offer this experience. Why. Because the whole experience is amazing. A little more expensive than your usual cinema but with reclining seats, a tasty tray of food and beer as well. Man heaven. Use your blue light card if you have one.
L. M.
With covid I was a little reluctant to go back to the cinema. Socially distanced with two seats apart. Love the cinema as a whole and would definitely go back!
A. B.
It was a good experience, all the precautions and safety measures are properly followed. There is option to buy tickets on the spot from the ticket counter on 2 floor and there are self service kiosk's as well to get the pre booked ticket. You will need your card which has been used to book the ticket to pickup the tickets.
N. F.
Seats are comfy and luxurious and would have been at least a 4 or 5 star but was so bloody cold in there I almost left, it was to the point where i could feel the cold air being directly blown onto my face from above and had to use my coat as a blanket to stay warm!
*Edit 09/19 Every time I've been back in 2019 it's been great and perfectly heated! Great cinema!
K. B.
Awesome cinema experience just a pity the usher working that night was so rude and unhelpful
C. N. (.
Cinema with a touch of class. It has a beautiful auditorium with a bar for those who wish to have an alcoholic drink before their film. For those wanting something soft they have bottomless soft drinks. The staff are really friendly and in the cinema theatres there are reclining seats, big screens. You get all this and it on top of that it's reasonably priced. What's not to love!
A.
Great newly built cinema. Super comfy reclining seats and amazing video and sound. The snacks are crazy expensive as at all cinemas but they have a Costa which is great. Always showing the new movies and most of the time there are 3D and 2D showings. You can book seats in advance. There is plenty of parking and restaurants nearby.
P. D.
Very clean, easy to access and the staff are amazing. Prices are much cheaper than Odeon as well so that's a massive bonus!
Seats are comfy, which they can recline and what's better, is that each row is elevated so you don't have someone sitting in front you blocking part of the screen!

A breath of fresh air in the cinema market.
First time I have been to a Showcase and this one did not disappoint at all. Nice relaxing entrance, helpful staff and great reclining leather seats. Must remember to book gallery seats next time because I think they have the best view of the screen, as when your lower down you can see the curved screen much more prominently.
Over all well worth the price and a refreshing change from what I was used to in Cineworld (had unlimited card for 2 years)
J. G.
Fantastic cinema! Great adjustable, comfortable seats with loads of legroom. Good sound system and large HD screens. My current favourite cinema.
(A few problems with the online booking service at the moment and the self-service machines are sometimes on the blink. But as it's new, I guess they are still working out the kinks.)
G. F. M.
Amazing new cinema with Dolby sound. Went to see star wars and the screen in room 1 was enormous. The seats are also very comfy and reclining :) but it's difficult to cuddle up to your loved one because of the big armrest.
B. P.
Great cinema and lobby with a nice waiting area if you are early. A lot of screens so plenty of choice of films and times. The lobby also offers snack and drinks with deals on a monthly basis. The chairs in the cinema are really good if you get the more expensive seats as they offer functions to move and adjust the chair accordingly. Had a really good relaxing time at this cinema and the service was great.
S. W.
Space no worries of not seeing in front as seats leveled really well so no heads in the way. Electric reclining chairs.
Air con
Cheaper than other locals cinemas for family ticket and feel so much more comfortable
K. W.
Wow! What a difference! Amazing seats, why hasn't cinema been like this before. Quite literally could not believe how big and comfy the seats are. They recline back and the footrest comes up like a business class flight. By the end of the film you won't have an ache in your body at all. I cannot imagine going to any other cinema any more. And the ticket prices are pretty much the same as all the other cinemas in Southampton. Gallery seats upstairs cost an extra £5 but you get a sweet/savoury box included, debatable whether that's worth it but if you buy sweets at the cinema (£££'s) then it probably is, you'll be doing yourself a favour by eating less!
M. H.
I hate cinemas, a lot. I hate noisy people, people who can't sit still, people kicking the back of your seat etc.
I like showcase cinema, that really is quite a big deal, especially to my wife who was very happy that I even went in the first place.
The seats are large, comfy and recline. People can get past without me having to stand up. There is literally a wall behind each row of seats. Only the tallest of hats could even start to get in the way of the person behind. The cost is very reasonable (they also do military discount). It's clean.
Yes, recommended, might even go again!
D.
Have used this about 4-5 times since it opened and have always found it to be very clean, extremely comfortable seating and no issues with booking.
Price wise it is slightly more expensive than odeon premier 2D - however the seats are fully recline-able and very very comfy so can easily justify the price.
Find the audio and picture quality to be very good in all screens we've been in.
Staff have always been helpful and friendly.
I'd say this is the best cinema in Southampton now.
H. H.
Got the gallery seats, worth it for a few extra squids, you get a good snack box be careful not to sit on the far top corner seats, for some reason they keep the lights on throughout the time your sat there. Choose the middle aisle but the top corner seats are a no go unless you like being disturbed by the artificial light.
J. P.
Amazing audio and comfy chairs. Staff friendly
L. R.
Nice cinema. Good COVID management.
E. R.
This has become my favourite cinema experience. Loads of parking, loads of restaurants nearby if you want to eat before or after, always smaller queues than I expect, there's a bar too!
Screens are modern, amazing reclining leather seats that are just sooooo comfortable, there is nothing negative to say about this place.
L. E.
This is our go-to cinema now, even though it's not local, simply because the reclining seats are amazing and so comfortable. It's also nice to have legroom and to have a barrier between you and the people behind and in front of you. You never have to worry about someone kicking the back of your chair or disturbing someone in front of you. Such a great experience. The only thing that stops this place getting 5 stars is the popcorn - unfortunately it's quite flavourless. It's a bit chewy, the salted isn't very salty and the sweet isn't very sweet. Other than that, ideal!
S. K.
Really comfy seats, with great legroom! Really enjoyed watching a film on the big screen!
N. T.
Ultimate favourite cinema. Gallery seats are amazing although even the standard seats are more than adequate. All seats reclining apart from the ver front rows which are slightly different. Screens are huge and clear, sound is amazing. Adverts and trailers seem to be longer than in other cinemas but that doesnt bother me. Visit this cinema at least twice a month. Staff are always super super helpful! A couple times we have had problems with our tickets (no fault of theirs) and they have helped straight away with no hesitation. Snacks are expensive but good. Hot dogs are amazing, popcorn lovely. There's also 2 bars and a coffee shop. Would and have recommended this cinema to friends and family.
R. H.
A fair price for high quality. Very comfortable, leather reclining seats. Great to have a bar to have a few drinks before the showing, would prefer more ice cream choice, although the caramel pecan is absolutely delicious!
J. K. S.
I love this cinema, the screens are quality, staff are friendly and there's a bar.
The seats are also possibly the best I've experienced in a cinema, just make sure you don't use the electric seat controls during a quite tense part of a film.
w. s. 6.
This is pure comfort and latest high tech cinema. The seats are lounging soft chairs that you can adjust to lay back in. If I was going to visit a cinema I wouldn't personally go anywhere else. I was able to take my disability scooter right up to the cinema doors and we watched a film in 3d and it was a brilliant experience. Real home from home comfort
V. T.
Incredible cinema, with full reclining seats in all the screens, plenty of leg room, hot don't have to move everytime someone down the aisle needs the toilet. The main area is lovely and spacious, there's a bar and a Costa and a selection of Beverage counters. There are wall to wall screens and incredible sound. Prices range based on day and time, but there's a loyalty card which discounts tickets on certain days.
J. R.
Took the missus here for her birthday to watch 'Bad Boys for Life' as she's a massive Will Smith fan. We decided on visiting this cinema due to the overwhelmingly positive reviews on the seating situation but personally I was less than impressed. When we took our seats the wife simply couldn't work out how to use the recliner chair and spent the first half of the film pratting about with her seat, rocking back and forth like a chimp at the zoo. Then the second half chewing my ear off, asking me what was going on and who everybody was. If it wasn't for the dynamic acting partnership of Smith and Lawrence it would have been a ruined trip!
O. G.
Amazing seats and sound excellent...... Food was good but a bit expensive..... Whole experience worth the money I don't think I will be going anywhere else to watch a new film..... Outstanding well done showcase.
K. c. T.
Favourite movie theatre to go to. A little bit pricier than the cinemas nearby. But,The seats are worth the price. Several restaurants around to grab a quick dinner right before the movie. Movie starts 30 mins later due to the advertisements.
E. S.
Great place, very comfortable seats, the recliners are a real luxury. Screen and sound were high quality. Definitely won't be going back to a standard cinema from now on.
N. J. L.
It was great to go out with my daughter.
E. P.
Cinema quality was excellent as usual, the dining facilities around are so varied and the layout is great! The only problem this time round was the actual cinema wasn't as clean as usual, there was an unpleasant smell we basically just had to get used to and love with during the film...
T. F. -. Z. N.
Typical pricing. But lovely seating motorised & adjustable, you can put your feet up and lay back. Plus you can do that without encroaching on anyone else's space. Very comfy. Lovely design of the building when you go in. Video was very good sound was pinpoint without being too loud or distorted. Also if you don't like crowds just go in the daytime or even certain evenings. Having said that the seating is (as mentioned) very spacious. Would definitely recommend.
A. H.
Absolutely fantastic experience watching the new Captain Marvel! Seats were extremely comfy and the 3D/screen quality was the most impressive I have seen yet. The surround sound was spectacular.
Certainly worth a visit
L. H.
It is a bit expensive but worth it. Seats are so comfy and recline. There is loads of leg room in comparison to other cinemas and it has such good quality picture and sound. Very close to restaraunts which are nice to go to before or after
T. T.
It seems like Southampton is still hiding away the best cinema in the city. Not only is it usually very quiet in and out of the screens, but the employees are friendly and approachable. They offer a wide range of snacks, and the prices are average for a chain cinema. However, the real reason to come here is the discarding of your average uncomfortable cinema seats for leather RECLINING armchairs AS STANDARD. These seats are big enough for me personally to curl up in as well as hold all my snacks. There are walls between most rows so you don't even have to acknowledge that there are people below you. Reclining is also automated so at the press of two buttons you're basically led down as if you were watching a movie in bed - and because there are usually so few people in the screens, you're not going to be disturbed by too much talking. This cinema is the main reason I visit the city. Highly recommended.
B. P. G.
Cool place to watch a movie. Recliners and tables in gallery to keep food on. However, food isn't great. Chicago town pizza for £9. Tasteless popcorn. Better off bringing your own grub. The good old council way. 👌👊
K. H.
The experience was really good. I have not awarded 5 stars, because the chairs were uncomfortable for my 71-year-old mother, who, not being very tall, could not sit right back in the seat. This would not have been so bad if, like me, she could make use of the footrest, but couldn't, because she has a bad knee. Everything else was great!
R. M.
New Movies, Best Customer Service every time I’ve been!, Reclining seats are the best about this cinema!!!
E. J.
Comfy seats and great screen for a decent price. Caramel popcorn was amazing! Would have been 5 stars but strange smell in our theater, I wasn't the only one to notice a slightly cheesy/off milk smell. Hope that's a one off!
R. C.
We've been a couple of times and always opted for the VIP seating which is extremely comfortable. Cinema seating normally gets me rocking about in my seat after an hour trying to get comfy, not here though. Motorized fully reclining to suit ur needs. I'm not a fan of the contents of the Binto box that come with the VIP seating, but there is a nice variety in them. Having the staffed bar in the VIP waiting room is a nice touch and they can do you cocktails, which I wasn't expecting.
K. T.
Lovely big and new cinema that is definitely worth going to. But make sure you order your early! I ordered my tickets and then my food, after paying for the food he told me that it’ll be 20 mins as they had run out, so I asked to change it for popcorn so I wouldn’t miss the film. They refused and I happened to miss the start of the film. Other than that the film was good, screens are big and the seats were clean and tidy
J. M.
Great cinema with good screens and Dolby Atmos sound system. Large, comfortable reclining leather seats all round at no extra cost. Good climate control keeps you comfortable. Large box office and snacks area including a bar. Loads of places to eat nearby as well. Without doubt the best cinema I've visited.
W. M.
Super comfy and spacious seats . Lots of food and drink options. Around the cinema
Aplthough i took my own to be ssfe there was Antibacterial wipes and handgel avaliable and fully stocked throughout .
A. K.
I wish there was more stars I could give. I went for my first time this week and thouroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
The chairs were absolutely comfortable
The prices were of standard and affordable
The toilet where clean and well look after and also very nicely designed
The whole cinema look modern and aesthetically pleasing.
I cannot say a bad word about it.
J. F.
Mixed feelings about the place. Absolutely love the Gallery concept but wish you could swap the bento box for just popcorn. The Gallery seats are very comfortable and well worth it - and in fact the price is quite reasonable. What let the place down was the sound and picture being very slightly out of sync throughout the whole film and the toilets not being clean. Fix those issues and the experience would be amazing.
A. L.
I'm a big fan of comfortable seating and good picture and sound when it comes to my cinema experiences and this place offers just that. I have always booked online or used the self service machines at the venue for my tickets so can't say I've had too much interaction with the staff.
People in other reviews suggest the prices are too high and I can understand that, but I think you get that at all cinemas so get a showcase card for here or use Meerkat Movies if it's available to you.
This would be my first choice for a cinema if I was given the choice and the film I wanted to see was on at the time I wanted to see it.
A. D.
Would be five stars if the cinema nowadays wasn't so expensive that's not Showcase's fault but it still detracts from the experience. Aside from that, the staff are nice enough, attentive and happy to help. The seats are by far the best part of Showcase, who DOESN'T like a recliner while watching a new movie on a cinema screen.
H. D.
Loved the comfy seat, great views of the screen. I'm 8 months pregnant and the reclining seat was wonderful for my sore back! I'm also very short and have trouble seeing if there is a tall person in front of me, here it's all set up so that isn't a problem.
D. H.
Very clean and spacious. Good screen and sound. Staff were friendly and helpful. Also love the option of a drink at the bar before the film! Only downside was parking, we watched a late film, so ended up having to pay for 24 hours parking at the NCP as we left after midnight "the next day", so careful where you park!
D. C.
Oozes quality from the classy bar/coffee area to the huge comfortable reclining seats in every screen. Plus they have wisely separated the ticket area from the snack bar so you don't get caught behind someone buying copious snacks for a family of six when all you want is a cinema ticket.
J. C.
Always go the see the latest movies here, the seats are super comfy, being reclineable to almost a laying down position with a raising footrest as well. The service has always been good when I've visited and except from one occasion when I couldn't print my ticket at the machine, I've never had a problem.
m. j.
First time I've been and it was great. Not much more expensive than any other cinema if at all and the seating was fantastic. They have those electric chairs that recline and support your legs and feet. We went to see Bladerunner and the screen and sound were excellent. Couldn't fault the experience at all.
J. L.
Definitely the best cinema experience around. Wonderful reclining leather seats with ample legroom outdo all other cinemas, even others 'premium' seating. Combined with great sound systems and top quality screens makes this a number 1 place for cinema lovers.
A. D.
What a great cinema love the reclyning seats you can then really relax and enjoy the film without having to keep shifting around in your seat to get comfy. Also much more privacy as you dont have people sat right close behind you or in front. Always go there now rather than the odeon.
Will try the food box special next time i think it looks good. You get to use the bar and get sweet or savoury food box included in the price of the ticket. Good idea for special occasion. Looking forward to going again soon
R. W.
Large, bright & airy cinema within West Quay South. Accessible directly across the bridge from level 7 of the multi-storey car park.
This cinema accepts the 241 Meerkat vouchers.
I used to dread going to the cinema until Showcase came to town. The large leather recliners are a dream (quite possible to fall asleep in if youre tired)! Able to recline the seat almost to a horizontal position.
The sound is incredible & the space between each row is very ample...no heads in the way here & likely to have two arm rests to yourself, or at least one...& plenty of leg room!
Become a Showcase member to receive a reward card for big discounts & rewards on purchasing tickets & refreshments. It is free to sign up & they send a card to your address.
Some of the screens are smaller than others but that does not affect the quality of the movies.
Open from early til late & shows all new releases as well as special live events & screenings of nostalgic, classic films. Check out the website for upcoming events.
Fab, modern place & really enjoyable experience!
T. K.
This was an amazing experience, I loved the film (Aladdin) which helped, but reclining seats in the cinema! Amazing! Fabulous audio and beautiful curved screen with amazing definition. Only down side is £2.85 for a bottle of water, but damn. What an experience
e.
Modern cinema complex, comfortable and designed in quite functional way.
J. S.
We went as a family of 4 to see The Greatest Showman on New Years Day. After comparing the prices to our local Odeon (family of 4 - £42.00) we decided to look at the Showcase prices - so glad we did. Family of 4 - £28.00 and the seats were perfect. Really comfy reclining chairs, great view and sound and a huge wall to wall screen. Toilets were clean and the staff were friendly and welcoming - even on New Years Day!! We will definitely be returning here.
R.
Actually a bit underwhelmed.
The cinema itself is amazing, however the service isn't.
We spent money on the galleria tickets, and when we tried to order food, we were told that what we wanted wasn't available (on a Saturday night, peak time). We then ordered something else and proceeded to wait 25 minutes for some nachos.
That's simply not good enough. I think they're massively understaffed, or the staff aren't trained to the correct level.
We also had to ask for our 3d glasses too, as nobody was handing them out.
The screen itself was brilliant however.
L. B.
Have been to this cinema several times in the afternoons ,plenty of space and good seating
P. D.
Clean, modern cinema complex with electric reclining seats with lots of space. Great all round with food outlets down one level. Easy access too with lifts if unable to make the escalators :-)
J. R.
Best cinema in Southampton at the moment. Reclining seats, loads of space, cheap Insider tickets, great sound quality. Nothing bad to say about the cinema but the app and website could do with some work to improve the booking experience.
D. C.
Comfy seats with adjustable foot rest and reclining. Great value due to the deluxe seats. Impossible for people to sit in your way due to the layout of the cinema.
Note: adverts tend to be around 30 mins long, I often go 15-20 mins later than advertised viewing to avoid waiting.
M. R.
This cinema is just amazing! Very spacious, each of the rows is quite vertically distant from each other so you never have the problem of someone's head being in your way. The chairs are ridiculously comfortable and you can move the back and foot rest into your preferred position just so you can lounge to your heart's content whole watching a movie. The picture quality and sound are top notch. It's well located and surrounded by really good restaurants. Definitely worth the couple extra pounds compared to Odeon. It's our current favorite!
K. W.
Showcase is amazing. There are a lot of restaurants to choose from if you want to make an evening of it. You can buy tickets on machines if you wish to cut out the ques. The cinema treats are insanely over priced but that's the story with most cinemas. The seats were exceptional. Reclining chairs with so much foot room and you don't have the worry of someone sitting in front of you and blocking your view. Definitely recommend a visit.
L. L. A.
Amazing place the seats are amazing and the staff are amazing 👍👍
T. B.
Had a great experience... fantastic cinema, great seats, leather electric recliners. Sounds really good too, not too loud or unbalanced. Food court is also fantastic. Good options and then next door are even more food options in the mall. Really good place to go!
J. C.
My favourite cinema in Southampton. The screens are great quality, the sound is better than other cinemas in my opinion due to the Dolby Atmos. All seats are spacious and reclining. I think the price is great, as I have paid more in other chains for a lesser experience. It's also one of the more conveniently located cinemas in Southampton, being right in the city centre and on a lot of bus routes.
M. L.
Very comfortable seats and in a great location to grab a bite to eat after the movie. I had the popcorn and drink combo. I wanted sweet and salt which the member of staff was happy to do for me. Would recommend.
L. F.
The seats are pretty amazing. Although some of the staff is a bit smothering as soon as you leave the escalator, most of them are really helpful. Very prompt and always happy to help. Could use a few more, as they seem a bit overworked!
a. w.
The cinema is one of the very best. Amazing reclining seats and very comfortable. They do however seem very short of staff, or at least were on the weekday we visited, and resulted in us almost missing the start of our movie while waiting to be served.
J. P.
Great cinema with reclinable seats in most of the rows. They are suuper confortable. Sound quality is very good and it has also and I-max screen if you want bigger experience.
I recommend getting an Insider card. It is free and you get discounted admission on Sunday evenings and Mondays and Tuesdays all day.
D. S.
Fabulous seats: squashy, comfortable and fully reclining. Nice bar with reasonably priced wine and cocktails. Whole experience felt luxurious and won't be going back to a 'typical' cinema with comparably priced 'basic' seating.
N. H.
A beautiful cinema. Great facilities. Quite expensive -especially if booked on line, but comfortable reclining seats and goods sized screen.
I was shocked at the last minute addition of nearly £3 booking fee at checkout when booking on line. Odeon and other cinemas have got rid of this kind of hidden charge.
Great for 3D, however the centre of the screen we saw needed focusing as even 2D writing was doubled.
S. P.
Comparing tickets prices for Three Billboards, and the Showcase was cheaper than Harbour Lights, so we chose the Showcase - pretty much expecting it to be the same as all other cinema chains - large, commercial and bland. Well, yes it is large, commercial and bland, but we didn't go to the bar there or buy treats (we tend to go to the pub before going to the cinema, and bring in our own treats and drinks), so our experience is based on the ease and convenience of buying tickets, and the enjoyment of the cinema experience.
There's the option of buying tickets from a machine, or speaking to a person. We opted to speak to a person, and he struggled a bit with the charm and customer service, but was able to stumble his way through our questions, and provide appropriate answers. No awards there, but nothing negative. We were a bit early, so sat overlooking the escalators in some awkwardly uncomfortable chairs with short backs and long seats - it appears you are only meant to perch on them, not sit back! But at least they had chairs. Swings and roundabouts. Then we went into Screen 4. Lots of space for everyone. And huge chairs. We were a little disappointed at first because when we sat down, it felt like we were a long way from each other (so this is not a cinema to go to as a couple and snuggle up for a romantic movie). Then we found out that the chairs recline! Wow. And they are so, so comfy. And the rows are spaced out, and raked so sharply, that everyone gets a great view, with no worries about blocking anyone behind. The picture quality was sharply defined, and the sound was awesome. OK, yes, we did get a bit bored during the adverts of the cinema telling us every five minutes about how wonderful the sound was. And, especially for a 10pm showing, there were way too many adverts - each of which went on for way too long. Big and more is not always better.
So, the cinema lacks charm and character, and is quite bland and corporate, but it is efficient - it gets you fairly smoothly into your screen. There are too many adverts, and too much repeating of the Dolby sound advert, but these are minor quirks. The drinks and snacks are going to be expensive, but, hey, you can bring your own.
Where this cinema wins out is the sheer quality and comfort of the cinema experience. Mind-blowing! And it's cheaper than the Harbour Lights!
B. S.
I thought I only liked one type of cinema, small with a bar and no kids. This place is the exception. We went to see The Greatest Showman on a well priced Family ticket. I'm not sure what I was expecting but I was completely blown away. Huge motorised leather-ish arm chairs, loads of leg room, no view of anyone not in our row and a sound system to that almost flattened me. Very impressed.
D. S.
The best thing about Showcase is the amazing electrically adjustable seats, so comfy. The screen and sound are also great.

Very comfortable seats with plenty of leg room. Staff are helpful but the usual high price for snacks and drinks.
However, a star docked for the booking fee. Why does this charge exist? I didn't even need a paper ticket as it was all booked and paid for remotely with a qr code sent to be scanned on arrival. Booking fees like other hidden charges should be made illegal.
S. M.
Great experience, love the personal control reclining leather seating with loads of room Infront so people can pass if needed without me needing to move.
Sound system fab. Loved the live experience. Can buy & take your drink in & has designated hole for it. Parking in Podium in D section means can go up in lift in front corner to Showcase Cinema du Lux & restaurants etc. Certainly my favourite cinema.
s. w.
Went to see Paddington 2 (5/5 !) with my daughter. Very modern cinema with amazing fully reclining seats and incredible picture and sound quality. Loads of leg room. Slightly expensive - £19 for us both plus £4 parking. But overall the best way to see a film.
L. M.
I went to Showcase last night and I have been raving about it all day. Really comfy seats and you are segregated off from the row behind so you do not have to deal with their noise or dangling feet! The sound and picture quality were both unbelievable. The staff were really friendly and polite also. My only qualm was the ticket price, I'm a student so I paid £8.50 but my partner paid nearly £11!!
M. M.
Fantastic cinema with really comfy recliner seats! Plenty of wiggle room in the seat and spaced out with leg room between the rows. Can be a bit pricey but your paying for higher quality than your standard cinema.
N. D.
Best cinema experience in Southampton. A little more experience, but you get much more leg room and a reclining leather armchair (standard ticket). Their standard is nicer than most cinema's premium seating.
E. M.
Wonderful!I asked for a more spacious seat due to my mobility issues and they were happy to help me. I loved the cinema experience and I would definitely recommend it.There are lifts and a well equipped bathroom for people with mobility problems.
J. R.
Other than the not so obvious route to the entrance this cinema was excellent, the Dolby atmos is a serious upgrade to the experience and immersion was stepped up considerably, screen 6 was extremely impressive, reclining electric lazy boy style chairs were very comfortable and the row splitting mini wall made the total experience more exclusive. Will be going back without a doubt and will park in a closer car park. One thing it was a little too cool in the cinema, may need to keep the customers awake due to the comfy seats!
A. P.
Good experience and value for money certainly. BUT the staff at the popcorn and coffee counter can be quicker or open up more tills during busy hours as it delays movie-goers. Last weekend, I dropped the idea to buy popcorn simply because their queue almost touched the ticket counter queue.
Their insider membership card isn't any good and that's something they can work on. Keep the members more up2date, perhaps?
J. ..
100 times better than odeon. The seats are exactly what is needed during a time when cinema regularly produces movies in excess of 2 hours. I just watched avengers endgame, 3 hours and my backside is still awake. No more holding a stranger's armpit here, lots of space between seats. Premium seats of course, why they even bother with cheaper seats is beyond me.

Went there for Thor-Ragnarok in 3D in XPlus and wasn't disappointed. You get snack trays with a separate lift to take you to your seating section. The Movie Hall is massive and the sound effects are mind blowing. Tickets may seem a little expensive but I believe you can avail a free membership and reap its benefits. Although it's good to treat yourself to such luxury once in a while. 😉
A. P.
You'll never go to another cinema again! This place is incredible and it's been on my doorstep for nearly a year. Recliner seats in every screen. Wall to Wall cinema screen and incredible sound. All for the same price as an odeon ticket. 100% recommend
N. B.
The price is more expensive but the seats are great. They are lazy boy type seats with buttons to electrically recline them. The xplus screens look great but because they are curved it's not so good if you are off to one side. The sound quality was also really good.
S.
Best Cinema in Southampton. Its so good I cannot even bring myself to go to Odeon any more. Better screens, better sound, exponentially better seating and twice as much leg room as all other cinema's that I've been too. Also their Insider card means you can watch a movie on Sundays's or Monday's for around £8 and you get the usual money off/reward points. Very good cinema, blew their competitors out of the market the day they opened.
B. R.
Superb new cinema for Southampton. Outstanding comfort and brilliant Dolby Atmos sound and pinsharp laser projector. Good value pricing and excellent experience. Highly recommended. Possibly the best cinema in the local area.
A good selection of restaurants nearby for before or after the film too.
L. B.
If you sign-up your whole party as members online, everyone gets a £7.00 ticket regardless of age or the film you're watching, which is almost unbelievable... Plus you get a 10% reward to save even more on your next visit! Electric reclining seats as standard with an insane amount of leg room. Surround sound is insanely good if a little intense and the whole place still has a brand new feel to it. I can't comment on snack prices but there's a Costa outlet next to the screens. There's a booking fee of 60p per person on the website but that's probably worth it since the huge seats result in each screening having a smaller capacity and you may end up with floor seats (DO NOT GET FLOOR SEATS! They're the same price if you're a member and they are far too close to the screen). But if you do what we did (insider membership, book online, NOT floor seats) then there really isn't a reason to go anywhere else for your cinema experience in Southampton.
F. P.
The proper way to do cinema. My first experience of the seats was mind blowing. A really comfortable experience. Let's hope the seats don't get vandalised or tatty too soon. The audio was also stunning and the video crystal clear (I've complained several times at our local Odeon cinema about blurry images in the bottom left quadrant). Will only be doing cinema here in the future. The extra cost is well justified. Well done Showcase!
A. M.
Easy access to the cinema via lifts and other venues. Reclining chairs a must. Helpful staff clean and air-conditioned, toilets close by
Helpful staff in the Costs cafe.
s. b.
Love the ambience starting from the interior to the theatre, the recliner seats are luxuriously comfortable. Great time spent is always remembered watched 2 movies back to back and loved them Alita in 3D and How to train your Dragon in 2D well enjoyed the luxury of the cinema.
J. O.
Seats are comfortable, fully wheelchair accessible woth lots of room to park and transfer into the reclining seats. Been here many times to watch everything from BTS and mary poppins. Sound is amazing and staff are helpful and friendly!
N. R.
the best cinema by far perfect 4k screens amazing electric recliner seats which gives the ultimate comfort plus prices for the tickets are reasonable. i also noticed how strict management is to their staff, their like prisoners so be easy on the staff they are always being watched
G. J.
The seats are so comfortable. Probably the only cinema I've been to where i didn't fidget through the film! As with all cinemas they appear to make their money on the ludicrously overpriced snacks but if you're well prepared and get your picnmix from Ikea before hand you won't be financially ruined.
W. O.
Cool place, sound is always too loud and the prices of food is disgusting but otherwise a good experience and staff were helpful.
L. D.
Fantastic cinema stocked with friendly and (mostly) helpful staff. One ticket I booked online for Infinity War didn't include 3d glasses (this was one of the discounted members only tickets), although this wasn't specified on the site at the time of purchase. They gave me a set for free regardless. The only downside is that they had no glasses in the Gallery area and I had to go fetch a pair myself from the floor below. Surely a member of staff should have done that seeing as there would be other people coming up without glasses to the Gallery area?
m. b.
A bit on the pricey side but great facilities.
A. T.
Best cinema around and 2nd best I've ever been to..
Pros: The seats are a massive feature, you won't want to go anywhere else after you've been here. Nice poofy armchair seats that recline to near flat with more leg room than you could want. Such a difference from the normal seats you usually see. It is so much better than the Odeon and the other cinema options in our area.
Negative points: For some reason they've put a gap between the centre seats in all of the rooms... so if you are like me and prefer to sit dead centre it means there will be a gap of about 3 feet of space between you and the person you went with. I have no idea why they spread the chairs out down the centre but it bothers me! Now we always have to sit off centre when we go there. Not really enough of a complaint to take off a star but it does bother me enough to mention it :)
Oh and as nice as the seats are in Southampton, the seats in the Reading showcase are still even better (2 full armrests to yourself).
I really don't see why you would go to another cinema in the area though... especially if you get a free Insider card and only have to pay £6.50 for a ticket...
S.
First time visit. Comfy electrically adjustable seating, higher staggered rows so nobodies big head in front of the screen, decent screen and sound system. We had a trailer for captain marvel even though that's what we went to see lol. You can only access the back 2 rows from the far side aisle so we constantly had people walking up next to us to discover they couldn't get through that way.. bit of a dumb design. My biggest gripe was that at least 3 or 4 times during the film a he/she kept walking up to the rear of the cinema to stare at everybody like they were looking for something or someone.. very distracting and we ended up looking at them only to miss some of the film! you don't get that at the odeon.
A. L.
Very good seating and visual quality. The sound should have been a bit lower though, because some noises are too high and uncomfortable. There should also be some healthier snack alternatives. Other than that, it is a very good cinema.
J. E.
Expensive but luxurious. Large seats which recline and minimise seat back kicking. On site coffee bar and cocktails too. Booking in advance highly recommend as there's far fewer seats per screen, and they fill up fast, and if you drive you will probably have to pay to park
S. L.
amazing venue! the seats are very comfortable and there are never too many people. the food and drinks are very cheap and the staff are nice and polite, the service is very quick! the venue is clean and tickets are cheap.
R. W.
In a time of higher and higher ticket prices this place, although not cheap, actually feels like you're getting value for your money. The reclining seats, enormous screens, and copious amounts of legroom really set it apart from the usual Southampton cinema fare
A. W.
Great seating, so comfortable. As good as some of the big Movie Theaters in the U.S. I sat in row D and usually don't like being so close to the screen but this was the perfect distance to get that big screen experience.
I. F.
Best cinema in Southampton. Always has the top movies, at good times. Cheaper to go before 5 Monday to Friday. If you have a Insiders card you can get 10% on most purchases and a member deals from 7pm on a Sunday to end of play on a Tuesday and the best bit its free to sign up. What more could you ask for? Well leather seats that recline, a great bar with plenty of seats and dolby atmos sound.
Best cinema in town.
J. N.
This is 100% better than odeon. The seats recline and the staff are so nice and helpful that it's impossible not to come back. The place feels very premium and whenever you come you feel like a VIP guest or something. It's a great place to watch a movie
A. D. R.
Modern cinema with curved screens. The seats are extremely comfortable, having the possibility to change inclination and to use a foot rest. Before the show starts, there is a 20 minutes period of advertising. No wifi available. Toilets are available.
A. L.
Very comfortable cinema with good screens and excellent sound, I really recommend going here if you want an amazing experience for a little higher than average price. The luxury pays for itself and I never feel uncomfortable watching movies like I used to at other cinemas. Unrivaled.
D. L.
Great cinema in the city centre. Amazing reclining seats. Definitely the best "blockbuster" cinema in Southampton. Good size area with multiple places to eat in the same complex and right next door to the Westquay shopping centre and High St with all the associated transport links.
M. M.
Reviews that say it costs more are wrong. Luxury cinema for regular prices. Other cinemas in great Southampton area are similarly priced. Some more some less. Brilliant electric reclining seats, great sound and picture quality. Top cinema.
I. R.
Very good cinema. Lots of space. Good timing of films. All round good venue. Thank you.
O. M.
Excellent service and the reclining seats were a joy for me.
I'd definitely go back again, plus it's a stone's throw away from West Quay Shopping Center. Shopping and finish off with a good movie,
H. D.
Love showing this place off to friends visiting Southampton. Dolby Amos, Laser Projecton, electric reclining seats with plenty of leg room. What's not to love? We always go here to watch acclaimed new films, it's all part of the experience!
T.
Miles better than Vue, and so much better than it used to be! Massive seats that recline, and plenty of room for everyone. Less seats in each screen, but that's a positive thing really! Cheap deals on Sunday's, Monday's and Tuesday.
D. B.
First visit to a cinema for 40 odd years so it was a bit of a shock! No ticket sales lady or usherette. However I had 2 eight year olds to guide me. Very spacious cinema with seats so comfortable I nodded off a couple of times!! As the film was despicable me I dont think I missed too much!
Pic n mix sweets were a ridiculously high price, I will definitely buy before I go next time. Overall an enjoyable experience.
A. S.
I absolutely live this place. I have the insider card they offer and it is the best thing to go there on sunday night, buy some snacks anx enjoy a movie. The service is great and food is tasty too. Staff is very friendly amd helpful. Movie , sound quality is amazing and the chairs are super comfortable. The best thing is the price. When you go there on a sunday or monday with the insider card the ticket price is the same price or lower than other cinemas(less than £8). So worth it!
T. M.
Absolutely fantastic far better than any other cinema in the area.My husband had spinal surgery a few months ago and we were concerned how comfortable it would be to sit for that time.We need not have worried the seats adjust and have amazing lumbar support.
p. p.
Excellent cinema with comfortable reclining seats and great service from the helpful staff, the screens are high quality and the overall experience is worth paying for! Been here a few times before and would definitely come back again soon!
J.
absolutely wicked cinema, got given some sort of bizarre bento box with all these snacks. proper yummy. can't remember what film I saw. oh yeah it was the new star wars. that was awful but the cinema was great. love it. would definitely go again
J. M.
Best cinema I’ve ever been to - I wouldn’t go anywhere else now. Best screens, reclining seats, best sound, best food. You can’t get much better - I recommend this cinema to everybody.
R. V.
Very nice looking and has good quality screens. However the booking downstairs had the timings all wrong so we had to wait an hour and 20 mins for the next screening. The self pouring drink system was broken as well.
J. H.
Seriously luxurious film-going experience! Plush, leather, fully reclining and adjustable seats? Check! Plenty of room, meaning no weirdo is sat right on top of you? Check! Funky little snack box that comes in either sweet or savoury options? Check! Pricey enough to keep the riff raff out? Check!
S. C.
First time at a Showcase Cinema and I was pleasantly surprised and amazed by the seating, the Screen, everything. It made the Star Wars viewing of the Rise of Skywalker very memorable, from 1977 at the Kilburn Gaumont to the last at Showcase Southampton, thankyou 😊
S. G.
Electric lay back and foot up, well padded, leather seats in well throughout cinema complex, offering choice and comfort at reasonable price. Wheelchair accessible. Food and drink plus a bar for that after film chat. Clear screens and good audio.
K. H.
Bit more expensive than odeon but worth it for the level of comfort. Amazing cinema just remember to bring your id and remember that you have your id on you because I just went to see Rocket man got asked for id told them I didn't have it (I thougt I didn't) got home found it in my bag and cried about it because now I have to wait another week. But hey ho dont do what I did. Anyway yeah the cinema is great and really comfortable. Shame they don't do a unlimited card though.
C. W.
Omg! I am never going to any other cinema again. I have arthritis in my knees and back and everytime I take the kids to the cinema I really ache afterwards from sitting in an uncomfortable chair.
These chairs are amazing! Raised foot rest and adjustable back rest makes watching any film like your at home.
J. H.
The best cinema experience available locally. Prices comparable to the other local cinemas, but the seating and audio far surpasses them. Reclining leather seats as standard, unheard of until Showcase arrived.
Don't go anywhere else.
V. N.
Best cinemas in town. If you watch a movie here you are sure to not go anywhere else.
R. E.
love this place first visit will be back, amazing comfy recliner seats at no extra costs. fantastic screen and sound. this is what all cinemas should be like end of
M.
Honestly the cinema is in a great complex,
However
if you have disabilities or certain symptoms of illness i would prefer smaller cinema such as odeon as it's quieter!
and caters more to people with disabilities
this cinema in a few words, were do i start
don't seem to understand the word open ticket pricing,
i.e not informing the customer of each ticket type available of this particular evening in-fact the APP was way more detailed!
problem one up to 10 different ticket types for one showing!!!
like really this doesn't help people with anxiety spectrum disorders or sensory impairment of delays make an informed decision about which ticket to go for at the time which can cause people with these difficulties to have meltdowns and panic attacks if not properly explained what each ticket will give the customer!
i had to ask why there was a gallery ticket and a gallery package ticket and a standard ticket for the same movie same screen basically separate entrances for higher amounts of money,
again the cinema were not specific on what a gallery ticket included and the fact it was the same screen but included a different entrance and a small snack box and a bar catered for people to buy nibbles and drinks which brings me to my next point!,
£3.40 for a bag of crispy
m&m's
£1.50 for 3D glasses when most odeons give them out free on on most premier screens and include it in . the ticket prince which showcase used to do now charge thats funny when 6 months ago the movie i went to see at this same cinema was in-fact £1 cheaper with the glasses included and was a more expensive and popular film than this one.
be advised people
cons:
1. overpriced tickets (complicated ticket types)
2. more needs to be done to cater for hidden disabilities!
3. show vulnerable customers to their seats.
4. ushers walk past with full use of the costa coffee bar in their hand.
5.extremely loud screens on the adverts
Pros:
comfy recliner seats
T.
Very spacious and the seats are comfortable. The only small criticism I can say was the sounds was too loud it did gave me a bit of headache. Apart from that it's a beautiful cinema.
A. C.
First time to the cinema in many years, how things have changed. Clean and comfortable , reclining armchairs, Dolby surround sound and laser projection. Great night out for the price.
M. L.
This is my 2nd visit to this cinema & I am definitely not going to an Odeon cinema ever again..I've had the luxury experience & won't settle for anything less. The reclyning leather seats r extremely comfortable & plush that I took my shoes off & made myself feel at home. U cannot see anyone in front of you once u have laid down only the person sat next to u either side. The audio is awesome it rumbles through your whole body giving u the maximum audio experience. Didn't buy any food so can't comment on price but go online & get an insider card so u can get money off
A. G.
I think the cinima is great with recliner chairs but the advertising goes on and on and is very noisy. By the time you have forgotten what you came to see the film start's. Good cinima but needs to sort the sound out. Saw Downton Abbey enjoyed it very much. Allan
S.
Showcase cinemas are by far the nicest around. The chairs are fully adjustable, the food is reasonably priced. If you sign up for the insider card you can earn points which you can spend on food or tickets.
T. F.
Showcase is the best cinema in the Winchester / Eastleigh / Southampton area.
Very comfortable and adjustable seats, good selection of snacks, and the latest films (as expected!). Costs on a par with other local cinemas.
Parking is always easy given the location in the West Quay shopping complex.
Loads of nearby restaurants such as Five Guys and a fun Brazilian buffet place!
R. P.
Comfy reclining seats with plenty of space. Great sound and picture quality. Our first pick when we consider going out for a film.
M. M.
It's nice and modern seats amazing, only a couple of things that made me give it 3 stars, bins over flowing, tables full of empty rubbish and sauce over tables, not sure if the cleaner was off sick, just makes it not feel as special, also a guy was swearing at the female manger behind the till, and no one came to sort it out not even security! Was glad I didn't bring my children with me, the only luxury was the seats. I was hoping for abit more of an experience
N. Z.
great cinema, Great comfortable seating and sound quality, the popcorn was good and the service was great too, the bathrooms for a cinema this size should have been bigger and had more than one set.
R. M.
Great price and really comfortable seats! Only criticism is don't sit too close to the screen! Why they have even put seats that's close is beyond me as you can't see the whole screen properly!
K. J.
Nice cinema, it give you a bit of luxury feel inside. However, staff at the bar was very slow on my visit and some of them looked lost there. Queue was humongous and everyone was stressed will miss the begining of the movie! But overall good experience.
M. P.
The premium seats, though expensive, are worth it for the comfort and viewing experience, and the auditoria are sensibly sized so even at the back you are close enough to the screen.
It's nice to be able to take hot food and a beer or wine (etc.) into the movie.
On my last visit they seemed understaffed though, resulting in reluctant service and stale popcorn. Otherwise very good.
D. K.
Great comfortable seats, all of which recline. No issues with legroom and seeing over the seats in front. Prices are similar to the Odeon which is no where near as good. Have been twice in the last few weeks and the automated ticket machines have been out of order. Not sure why they have an online charge per ticket when Odeon have scrapped it. Must be cheaper for them. Parking in West Quay is also expensive if you go during the day, which is a consideration versus other options.
E. L.
Amazing, everything i didnt expect! Definitely would go again
J. C. (. P.
Went here to watch a few films and couldn't imagine using any other cinema! Always have gallery seating, the staff are pleasant, electric leather recliners are sheer luxury. The lazer projection and dolby atmos sound is something to behold. Incredible experience
A. C. A.
Seriously comfy chairs!!!! Wish every cinema would like up to the expectation this cinema has now set. We travel pretty far to come to this cinema for its screen and chairs as there isn't another more local! Would defo recommend checking out the Imax screen with some popcorn and your feet up :') !
M. L.
Value wise this cinema trump's the odeon. Electric recliner seats as standard, air con and pretty decent prices. Also tried the gallery which was very nice, including a free drink and a snack box.
M. P.
Outstanding cinema. Brilliant sound and image quality. Facilities are excellent. Chairs comfortable with plenty of legroom. Prices decent. It's put the joy back into visiting the cinema In Southampton.
H. W.
Great cinema in terms of seat comfort, however my experience was ruined by a group behind throwing popcorn & rubbish down that landed around us.
I know that's not the cinema's fault but there are no attendants in the screen to report a complaint to without leaving the screen, walking down the corridor & no doubt waiting for someone else as there was only one person checking tickets.
This also meant there was no-one to show you to your seats which wasn't a problem for us but frankly, at the price we paid, I would've expected more staff to be visible & available nearby in case needed for any reason.
I. H.
I love this cinema and what's not to love, laser projectors, Dolby atmos and leather electric recliners in every auditorium. If you a showcase insider you want 10% back on every purchase that includes food and drink. Even on drinks bought at the Costa and bar at the end. Which means you can arrive a little early and enjoy a cocktail before going to watch the film.
Things I directly like about this location is the stunning new watermark building which has plenty of dinner or ice cream locations should you want something before or after your movie. It's well laid out, service is always brilliant and the auditoriums from my experience have always been well cleaned. Ohh and there is convient in expensive parking. If your going in the evening after 6 park in the main west key parking for just a pound and walk across the bridge.
P. R.
Luxurious with reclining sits and the screen is full size. Having the best Nachos menu with large drink. Loved every moment! Such a relax. Well worth of price.
A. S.
Booked the Gallery seats and its a worthwhile bit of luxury that seems to go missing out of most cinemas these days.
Booking process is simple and easy, getting drinks and food is a bit of a queueing process as they don't have enough staff.
But in the Gallery bar area its very quick and lots of people around to help.
Great visit and with a few changes it would be worth 5 stars
A. B.
Love coming to showcase cinema 🎦 such a comfortable experience ☺
R. E.
Seats were amazing, so roomy and comfortable. Sound was exellent you could feel the vibrations in your seats. picture good... shame we were only on a visit and not my local cinema
A. G.
Very comfortable seats with recliner function. Clean and welcoming. Had a lovely time.
A. R.
Really great staff and service. On one occasion I had pre booked tickets but ended up being rushed to hospital. When I contacted the cinema they really kindly let me change the booking to another date! Very much appreciated.
T. H.
Once you go to the showcase you will never go to another cinema again. Outweighs all other cinemas by far. We love using our 241 codes on Tuesday and Wednesdays and still getting our 10% back on our insider cards. Fantastic!
R. K.
Wonderful atmosphere and building. With reclining leather chairs, plenty of leg and elbow room, I don't think I'll ever be going to any other cinema in Southampton. Truly exceptional.
S. M.
Just to give some context to my review, I worked in a cinema chain for 8 years…so I know my cinemas quite well and am a self proclaimed film fanatic. We went in to watch Spiderman: Homecoming at 11am on Tuesday 12th July 2017, arriving in the cinema around 10:50am.
From the moment you arrive at the new section of West Quay, you immediately feel like you’re no longer in the centre of Southampton. Arriving at the ticket desk to be kindly greeted by the member of staff who promptly gave us the information we required regarding the Gallery seating and where best to purchase drinks and additional food. We head over to the opposite retail counter to collect our food and despite never having been asked it before, the member of staff took it within her stride to provide me with a pot of cheese for my hotdog (working in the cinema industry for nearly ten years left me with some weird cinema food cravings!).
Promptly serving our drink and food we headed to the “Red Elevator”, a special Elevator just for the use of Gallery ticket holders, you already begin to feel that this is an entirely different cinema experience. We were greeted at the top by a third member of staff (all of the staff were delightful and should all be praised!) who helped us with our decision on which Bento Box to choose, we decided upon One Sweet (popcorn, marshmallows, bitesize chocolates and a chocolate dip) and a Savoury (Salted Popcorn, Vegetable Crisps, Thai Nuts, Nachos and Salsa!). We were then guided to our screen, down a very private corridor, you feel like a true VIP! We found our seats in the back of screen 3 ready for an amazing experience of watching the new Spiderman: Homecoming.
The seats are incredible. on the right hand arm of each chair is a set of buttons. The chair was already comfortable as it was, but the buttons give you the option to fully recline your chair…something that I have always wanted to do in a cinema is get more comfy and at Cinema De Lux we had no end of comfort! In every other cinema I have been to (which is a lot…) I always shift in my seat, never able to get comfy…these chairs however left me so comfortable I didn’t move once…which only increased my viewing experience of the film! The Audio and Visual aspects of the cinema are above and beyond, crystal clear images and incredible audio meant that after years of visiting cinemas and having lost that “Magic of Cinema” feeling came rushing back, as if It was my first time in a cinema. We will certainly be returning here as it was such an amazing experience any other cinema just doesn’t feel like it makes the cut any more! Paying a little extra (15.99 per ticket) is 100% worth the money, you truly do get your monies worth! I highly recommend visiting this cinema the next time you’re looking to watch the next blockbuster!
C. L.
Only about 10 people in thw cinema.
Very clean, hand sanitizer available. Staff wearing masks and social distancing being observed.Watched Honest Liar starring Liam Neeson...it was..meh 😏
S. S.
I love coming here, the seats are literal perfection; recliner heaven. I don't like going anywhere else! Competitively priced and it's actually pretty fancy inside! Would definitely recommend!
m. t.
VIP, requires an insider membership, with money back returns on sales.
can be pricey for the gallery , but for your right film , in Xplus and top seating and keen views. can't beat the Queues, good resturants and refreshments.
P. B. (.
Great seats, fantastic legroom, very good sound; our view of the screen was a little skewed but all the seats can't have the best view!
J.
As luxurious and captivating as Cinema De Lux surely is, it's limited selection of films on display can be irksome. You get your big triple A blockbusters, your occasional under the radar curio and a considerable amount of the in-between, but many films seem to slip away to reign in the new releases-which is par for the course but this makes ODEON Leisure World more attractive, not to mention their Limitless Membership is a sweeter deal than Insider can possibly be. With these negatives said though, it's an overall greater cinema than what ODEON offer, but much like almost everything else in the esplanade-it's at least a little pricey and it's overly Americanised.
N. D. M.
Roughly standard cinima prices for probably the best experience you can get! Certain screening rooms have fully leather recliner chairs and are perfect for long periods of seating.
C. W.
I have never experienced the new Cinema De Lux range before but am a complete convert. The seats and space a ridiculously comfortable, the screen experience is definitely better than a conventional cinema and the range of add on foods was excellent. If you are an insider you get it much much cheaper on the sunday evening, monday and tuesday! well worth it.
S. G.
Always clean. Great sound and screens. Reclining seats still functional 2 years after opening. Long may that continue.
G. R.
Great cinema, will definitely visit again. The Bento box included in the premium ticket greatly exceeded my expectations. Staff were welcoming and friendly. See you again soon!
E. G.
One of the best cinemas I've been to. Comfy recliner chairs for all (whether paying an adult/teen/student ticket etc), great food and drink deals, clean place and nice staff.
A.
Amazing huge screens and comfy chairs. On top of this the chairs recline! The atmosphere is amazing and the food is delicious, they do all sorts from popcorn to chicken and chips. I really recommend going here!
J. L.
Based in Bournemouth I've been using the new Odeon, which is great, but I must say the main screen here is even better. Once you've experienced the reclining chairs you won't want to go anywhere else
J. J.
Loved every second of being there. Megga comfy seats. Massive leg room AND you can take your glass of wine in to watch the movie. Food is good too.
R. T.
This is by far the cleanest cinema in the neighbourhood. Plenty of room at the seat so no one will interfere with your personal space. Sound is also currently the best possible being Dolby Atmos, although the intro is far from mind blowing and nowhere near as good as the old THX one.
Now to explain the 3 stars rating...
Had at least two bad experiences there.
First choosing 'galery experience' where you get to sit at far top with even more room around your seat. The bad part is that unless you're overly tall you won't see part of the screen at the bottom due to the wall in front of you covering view. Food selection that you get as part of your ticket is very limited, being either sweet or savory. There are no nachos, usual popcorn or hot dogs to choose there. So the bigger price you pay for the ticket leaves you with a poor choice of things to eat.
Also the sweet option has some chocolate sauce, that when you try eating in the dark cinema may and probably will end up on your tie as it did on mine.
Off to the next one... There used to be IMO best drink out there at the vending machine being Orange Coke. Due to recent sugar tax levy it has been removed from selection and there's only far less healthy, artificially sweetened diet version now.
And lastly, my most recent experience is when I was pointed by a member of staff to the wrong screen. Sat there for over half an hour waiting for my movie to start only to find out after all the adverts and trailers, that this is completely different one and by then I have missed nearly 40 minutes of mine.
All these cases were met with no compensation from the cinema.
To sum up, cinema has great potential to be the best out there, given all these points are immediately rectified.
J. B.
Love this place. The reclining seats make it feel like sitting at home. Very comfortable. Staff very friendly.
C. N.
Very fancy although parking is expensive
l. b.
Very comfortable ith with reclining seats, large screen
C. B.
Very luxurious cinema. Would recommend leaving kids at home if you want to get your moneys worth ! Take them to the cheap seats at Odeon. You pay a premium here.
H. Q.
Amazing sound (Dolby Atmos) and vision (4k). Can actually feel like you are on the film set. Really comfy cushioned leather seats - can adjust the foot rest, recline the seat, and move up or down. No one directly in front or behind you so no one to obscure your view or kick your seat. There is a fully licenced bar and you can order food. There is also a Costas on site. If you get the top 'VIP' tickets you get a choice of a sweet or savoury snack box (there are little pull out tables). Will now not go to any other cinema.
J. H.
The most comfy seats in a cinema I have ever been in, standard prices for pre movie drinks and snacks! Good offers available if you have an insider card!
S. L.
We love this cinema. Great seats, loads of space, and a decent range of food and snacks. It has the price tag to go with the "De Lux" name though.

Every other cinema must be petrified - this Cinema sets the new standard. Stunning decor, excellent layout, social areas, brilliant screens with the best audio/visual, recliner chairs, ridiculous legroom, and you can take alcohol in the screen with you.

Super comfy seats that recline and extra large screens. Popcorn is bland though, certainly not worth £5 for a large. Judes ice cream is delicious however!

Nice comfy leather seats plenty of leg room. Not too big or loud cinema. Good atmosphere.

Great cinema, as a treat love to pay extra for the gallery. What's not to like about food, bar and reclining seats combo. Ace.

Great sound, seats, and reasonable snack prices.

Fantastic on a Monday. Really quiet but a great movie experience to watch Dunkirk. This is how a movie theater should be. Nice big screen.

Really good prices, comfy chairs and they recline too! Far better than a normal cinema experience. Highly recommended.

I've visited Odeon and Cineworld Southampton, and Vue Eastleigh, many times in the past, but my first visit to Showcase Cinema De Luxe completely blew the competition out of the water. The venue is done up to an extremely high and modern standard, with great views in the lobby out over Southampton Walls. The range of hot foods on offer include chicken nuggets - instant winner!!! The seating inside the screens are all of ridiculously high quality - think like your premier/VIP seating in other cinemas, except all seating is like this as standard. Very big, very comfortable, and they recline electronically!!! Screen quality is superb, and the sound is top notch. Toilets additionally are clean and well maintained. Showcase Cinema De Luxe will be my first choice of cinema from now on!

Cinema is comfortable with plenty of leg room and big seats which have reclining functions, gallery booking is worth the extra and can choose a sweet or savoury tray of nibbles free of charge. Parking is the only negative as have to use city centre car parks which can be another expense that is not expected

Great Sound. Super comfy seats. Best cinema I ve ever been so far
J. L.
Compared to all other cinemas for the price you get Dolby Atmos, Leather reclining seats and it's great value for money. A must go place for films as both a student and full price adult

Miles better than odeon which is the other central southampton cinema. Better seats (recliners), better price, better snacks and drinks. Higher quality sound and picture. Rewards scheme.
Go for a gallery seat if available as snack box is included and chair is upgraded.

Fantastic cinema experience. Great snacks avaliable, as well as a bar and coffee stand. The screens are amazing and the seats are absolutely fantastic, most comfortable seating out of all the cinemas i have visited.

The best cinema I've ever been in, the seats are massive and very comfortable and even recline! £6.50 a ticket for a standard film (2D) on a Monday or Tuesday. Highly recommended.

Wow. Went on a cold day whilst on a weekend away. The seats were so comfy, fully reclining. Better than being at home and the price was cheaper than my local cinema in Brighton.

Clean, comfortable and a nice temperature. Sometimes find cinemas too hot making the experience a little claustrophobic but this is just right 👌

A bit pricier than Odeon, which is where I would normally go, but loved it! Definitely worth the upgrade! The seats were sooooo comfortable and the legroom was a massive bonus! Newly built too so everything had a cream modern feel to it. Sorry Odeon, but I don't think there's any going back!

Big place and very nice. Lots of people and there's staff on hand. I went to the cinema and I liked it because the seats are comfortable and reclining.

The most comfortable cinema in the area

Hands down the best cinema in the city, maybe even the county. Tickets are fantastic value, great screens, fantastic sound. Plus reclining leather chairs with footrests which are great!

Comfortable recliner seats for an affordable price. You can use meerkat 2 for 1 here.
Price of a student ticket goes down to £4 if you use 2 for 1 during the daytime

Best cinema in Southampton area hands down. Lovely seats, reasonably priced beer to take in, great atmos screens and no more expensive than the alternatives. Wouldn't go anywhere else any more.

Situated in a nice designed building though I don’t know why the main entrance is still inaccessible.
Plenty of restaurants and bars to visit before or after too.
You sit in large, comfy recliners and all for a competitive price.

Very comfortable chairs, i was nearly 9 months pregnant and I felt very relaxed watching a movie! Great experience, will come back again definitely!

Best cinema I've ever been to. The screens are massive, the leather recliners are very comfy, the sound is impressive, and there's a great selection of food and drinks available.

We had premium tickets for gallery viewing and it's just absolutely waste of money, the only difference was that seats had little tables, to far from screen and in few spots there are lights above your head, no security to checks tickets so anyone can come, we didn't even had our free food with tickets, as there was no staff. Then we had to deal with loud and drunk noisy group of ppl above, went to get someone, security guy came around and stud for less then a minut and went off so groupe started again.

Uncomfortable seats. Large, reclining seats spaced well apart but the seat was way too deep for me (I'm 6' tall) so it pressed into the back of my legs and forced me to slouch.
