Reviews of Stansted Park
D. R.
Interesting and varied shopping complex with a large car park which is free. The complex is part of a large country estate with plenty of walks and paths and a small railway train runs during the holiday season. There is a restaurant and a family butcher's selling game.
T. J. L.
A wonderful place to go for a visit. Good garden centre. It's nice to explore the grounds and the tearoom is a real gem. All the staff are happy and friendly. The mini steam trains are great fun for all the family and the food store is stocked with lots of quality products.
D. D.
The house is well layed out limited to the lower floor and servants quarters. Guides in most rooms with abundance of advice.
Free parking, the gardens are well layed out and peaceful. The gardens centre offers quality plants and garden furniture.
G. W.
Elegant country house in vast parkland setting. The house itself was closed unfortunately but there was a club rally of Rolls Royce and Bentley cars from all ages, so very interesting anyway. Also a very nice restaurant and cafe in the walled garden area, even though it was a bit tricky to find.
D. P.
Free to park and walk around. There's a Garden centre , farm shop and cafe and lovely tea rooms with super out door seating.
T. F.
A nice place for a country walk. There is also a large Garden Centre with a number of places you can eat or grab a cup of coffee. There was also a maze and s large play area for kids. Parking was free and reasonably easy on the day we attended.
A. W.
A wonderful place to visit! Superb garden centre. The tea room was outrageously good. Would come back to vist anytime of the day, week, month and year!!! Bravo!!
L. M.
Very scenic surroundings, wonderful house and a well stocked garden centre with tea room. We visited for the Stansted Garden Show, our 3rd year of visiting purely for this event. Always something going on and well worth a visit.
E. B.
Great place to visit for all. Beautiful house, garden centre, Countryside for walking too..
L. K.
Visited the Stansted Garden Show. Beautiful grounds. Well organised and plentiful parking. Lovely house open to visitors at a small charge.
S. S.
Is a lovely stately home, has fantastic walking routes. And Advent's throughout the year
N. E.
Attended Stansted Unlocked, fabulous day out, great time had. Loved the re-enactments, and the Grenadier Guards Band as well as the other musical entertainment. First time of being inside the house, really enjoyed looking around. I hope something similar is arranged for next year. Loved the fact that for parents they didn't have to spend a fortune on tat. Good old fashioned but very enjoyable, picnic, walking the grounds, train ride and being a family.
R. S.
Great place to unwind. Great play area for the kids and the farmers shop is well stocked with local produce.
O. C.
As always the tearoom was lovely with amazing scones. The gardens were all looking beautiful, however I was very disappointed to see that they have taken the play area away. I do hope they will build a new one as there wasn't much for my young children to do.
K.
Beautiful place to visit, very popular.... Don`t enjoy garden centres and farm shops too much but what they have there are top notch. Look forward to going back next year when the house reopens in April.
M. B.
Lots to buy if you have money burning a hole in your pocket. The grounds are beautiful and well kept, I like that the plants and trees are labeled so you know what your looking at. Not much fun for pushchs with thin wheels as I got stuck a good number of times. The train was a brilliant 10 mins of time donated.
P. C.
It's deep in the countryside and the building is classic and the events are always worth watching or attending.
L. T.
Had a lovely afternoon here today. Good stalls, spent pennies on nice things and tasty food. Will definitely be interested in going again. 😀
K. M.
Fantastic place....with a lovely coffee shop that does hot meals as well as snacks. They have a seating area just outside of the coffee shop purely for people who have their dog(s)with them as long as they don't relief themselves whilst inside.
Garden centre is large with a good supply of plants at competitive prices.
S. H.
Great walks and views within the Southdowns National Park. Very good cafe too, busy much of the time because it's so good.
c. j.
Only open on weekdays wth only cafe ik that's not open 7days a week 😒
A. M.
Just had a lovely day out here, and just what I needed. You come in to the Garden Center area to park and can also enjoy the farm shop. We stopped for tea and cake at the tea rooms before wandering around the Dutch gardens and the Chapel. The woods are beautiful and so calming to be in the countryside with bird song and butterfly's. The trees are labelled and so many interesting species to look at. The house opened at 1.00 so headed there after a nice bit of lunch back at the tea rooms. It costs £10 to get in, and noticed the price did not seem to be shown on any signs which would be helpful as it is cash only. The house is beautiful and you walk around the different areas of this grand house, and get to explore the servants quarters as well. There are several guides in the house to answer any questions and give more background to the house and its contents and the way people lived through the ages. Stopped into the farm shop in the way out and picked up some tasty bits for dinner! Did not have time to go on the miniture railway but will be back another time to have a ride and tackle the maze!! Lovely way to spend a sunny day.
C. S.
Just had a lovely visit here this afternoon. Truthfully we had intended to go to Keydells but it was extremely busy considering the time we're in. Glad we decided to visit Stansted garden centre instead. It was our first ever visit, but not our last. Lots of lovely things to buy, really pleased with the choice & prices 👍😍.
S. S.
Wonderful Garden show again this year!! Amazing talented people selling their crafted creations. Beautiful flowers. Still loving to food tent with free samples of cheese, cake, sausages and gin!! Will definitely be going next year.
P. W.
Wonderful helpful staff..great food..Good atmosphere 👏
C. C.
Beautiful grounds, plenty to see and do! Unfortunately house and church was closed when we visited as I misread the visitor information. The tea rooms sell large meals and lovely home made cake. Will be going back soon for another visit!
L. C.
Interesting historic house. Approachable knowledgeable guides (with a sense of humour) Pavilions tea rooms excellent, lovely light lunch. Clean and tidy, indoor or out. Grounds very peaceful. Highly recommend, especially the chapel.
c. r.
Great place to go if you need a cheap day out. Small railway that doesn't cost much (cash only) lovely play area and delicious cafes. Then there's the gardens you can stroll around and let the kids explore with out worrying about traffic. Easy day out
P. M.
Ideal location for a walk to and catered well during covid
V.
The garden centre, when I visited last year was in good need of a makeover and this weekend just been I paid another visit to Stansted and I was so surprised! What a fantastic job they have done. The new cafe is really lovely, quick service, nice food, clean and tidy. The shop itself always had a good selection of plants and this has only been improved by the addition of all the extra, good quality, things on offer inside the garden centre. Gifts, clothes, gardening gear and supplies, all that you would expect from a larger store. Stansted also has the beautiful house, which we visited too. The children were kept entertained by a quiz and us adults were given lots of information by the volunteers. Although it was more expensive to get into the house than I had imagined.
Stansted also has a small train children can ride, a farm shop (really lovely but, as to be expected, a little pricey) a maze, garden games, play area and is home to a very sought after tea rooms (separate from the Stansted business.) All in all a lovely day out.
J. C.
Stunning, with great annual shows, always worth a visit, always well managed.
C. T.
Visited their new cafe in the Coach House. Beautiful venue, homemade fare at reasonable prices. Very nice. Sat in the courtyard in the sunshine with homemade soup and bread. Totally recommend
F. R.
What a great day out with so much to offer all ages. I took by 86 year old Mum and my 4 yr old grand daughter and we all had a brilliant time. The steam train and maze was a hit with all ages! The food in the new Farm shop was delicious and they did me a Vegan pizza ..so just ask! Visiting the main house was fascinating and we had a great time.
J. S.
Everything you could want for here. Afternoon tea, children's play area and a nice walk even a miniature railway running on certain days and of course a delightful garden centre. Oh and you can have breakfast or lunch in the garden cafe.
P. M.
A garden centre with the usual facilities and products, but 3 different food and drink facilities! There is a good but fairly standard cake and drinks area, a top end facilitie, great cakes and posh afternoon teas, where booking is advisable and in a high end food area an area for tasty food and drinks.
B. N.
We were here for the annual garden show. It was a very blustery day and the stallholders were making the best of it. Despite that there was plenty to see. However, I felt that certain areas, especially the food hall, did not have the variety of previous years.
Y. M.
Absolutely love this place. Great day out, take a picnic or treat yourself to a meal in one of the onsite restaurants. This place has improved immensely and is a great place for young and old. My four year old granddaughter loves running through the avenue of trees. Thoroughly recommend
A. T.
Super place for family. Lovely cafe at the house and another in the garden centre. Small train runs but check website for days and times. They hold special events too e.g. garden show each June, outdoor concerts and theatre, Christmas events.
T. T.
Very nice house and gardens. The tea rooms and other facilities are lovely. My only criticism is that you are unable to visit the upper floors of the house, although this did not hinder the experience at all.
L.
A lovely family day out trip with some very nice walks and a beautiful garden center aswell. There is a restaurant if you want something to eat and a park for the children to play in.
Near the front of the building there is a train ride which children absolutely love.
H. F.
Love it. Great walks. Handy guide with interesting information about walks can be downloaded from website. Also coffee shop /cafe within garden centre marvelous.
M. C.
I'm not one for visiting old houses but the guides in each room were full of information and made the whole experience really interesting.
If the house doesn't interest you then there's loads of other things to occupy you… nice grounds to go for an afternoon's wander, there's a million things to do with the kids and the cafe here's amazing
H. E.
Beautiful grounds and arboretum with easy parking and access. A choice of refreshment areas, the garden centre, miniature and train and children's play area make this a great place for all ages.
K. W.
Teo places to eat. Lovely pavilion tea rooms and garden centre cafe. Farm shop, ice cream to die for, made on premises. Maze House and railway not yet reopened except weekends?
A. D.
We recently visited to celebrate an extended family birthday. The service was good considering the size of the group. If you are attending for a birthday or special occasion and thinking of bringing your own cake from home, then I suggest you don't; a charge of £1 per person for the privilege is outrageous!.
P. P.
We had afternoon tea today in the seating area outside the tea rooms. First class food in a lovely location completely ruined by swarm of wasps constantly trying to get at the food resulting in annoying, dangerous
situation. There must be nests close by which professional action could destroy
C. M.
Always worth a visit when the garden show is on in June. Wide variety of stalls, plenty of entertainment and varied food and drink. Easy to spend a day there.
T. T. P. B.
We performed on the grounds here for a wedding reception and it was an absolutely picturesque location with beautiful views and a perfect spot for a wedding.
All the catering, serving and bar staff were fantastic, we hope to return again in the future!
T. M.
Great place to visit with minuture train set of Roland Castle and train ride around the gardens. Has children play areas including large maze and farm shop and the big house.
P. F.
Attended the Festival of Light on Wednesday and was most disappointed. I came with three friends and we were all of the same opinion. No.1 complaint on driving up to the entrance there was no lighting and could have easily driven past, I would have thought that as the road has no lighting the sign at least could have been lit up.
No. 2 there was no one to direct you into the car park and no signage directing you to the Festival.
No. 3 when we did find the entrance there were only 2 stalls one selling sausages and the other mulled wine. Absolutely no atmosphere and after buying hot chocolate there were no bins to put the empty cups in.
No. 4 the price of £10.00 for a very poor show was vastly overpriced. I have been to other light shows, one being Kew Gardens which was amazing and worth every penny.
There were no provisions for food apart from a couple of fast food outlets which I mentioned above, and I would have thought as you have an onsite restaurant which, had it been open I am sure would have been extremely popular.
H. S.
Fabulous day out for the whole family. thoroughly recommend. Ensure you enjoy the eating facilities too and the wonderful new farm shop also doing tremendous lunches!
C. W.
I have mainly been in and around the garden centre area, farm shop, pavilion tea room.all very nice not cheap but a good selection as you'd expect.just coming to the end of a big overhaul with some great improvements especially the eating area.well worth a few hours exploring.

(Translated) A fantastically beautifully situated estate. Little hard to find small parking at the church. Limited opening from 1 pm to 5 pm on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from Easter to the end of September. Just in time! More than worth it. Last visitors until 4 pm.
(Original)
