Reviews of King George V Playing Fields
A. T.
Large open spaces. Plenty of room for footy or cricket or whatever. Small play area with big rope slide. Small car park, so best to park elsewhere and walk here. Very clean and tidy, not many dogs. Few benches to sit on. Mainly flat. Well worth a visit.
K. H.
Son played football here today, beautiful pitches, all exceptionally well maintained. Funny sign about vandal proof paint on the dilapidated building
N. C.
Nice playing fields and park with a good walking/running route and workout equipment too
T. T.
Gotta love this park. Fantastic, fun and dog free, enclosed play area for kids aged from a few months old upto about 9 or 10 yrs
lots of quality play equipment, The roundabout is wheelchair friendly and one slide has a ramp and flat stretch to top of a double width short slide. There's a spider web swing there also.
Good place to take a picnic as a few wooden benches and couple of tables inside play area.
The fields are used by lots of dog walkers and there's enough" dog poo " bins around. Please clean up after your dog - Thanks.
Closer to the carpark (main) entrance.
There's also a small zip wire and a two seat spinning/sea-sawing 'thing' play equipment for kids over 5. Plus spider web swing, balance bars and metal monkey bars.
Some outdoor gym equipment and also distance markers at ends of pathway round one of the fields, good for the joggers and walkers.
On weekends you often see games of football or in summer cricket. The only downside is that the nearest public toilets are by Sainsbury's in Downend.5 to 10 min walk from the parks main entrance. There's nice friendly cafés in Downend. Two of which have outside seating where you can have your dog with you.
I noticed a new sign in the park that called it Badminton road Park.🤔 I'm not sure when this happened and wonder if it's to stop this park being mixed up with another similarly named park a mile or so away.

Love this place. I was brought up opposite so was always in there. Got some great outdoor activities. Zip wire some walky things. Great for taking the dogs with plenty of bins .
N. S.
Is a lovely big open space with exercises around the running track and a good little park for the younger ones
S. P.
Great open space with little park. Good sports/outdoor gym facilities. Unfortunately too many dog owners let their dogs lose and twice now my children have been knocked over.
S. C.
Park was quiet and we'll maintained. Grassy area in good condition for ball games. Basketball court/net could do with a little attention, but still useable.
D. B.
Usto play football on bottom pitch back in 90s with St .Stephens fc.Used to run round park as a kid when at Stockwell Hill school near by.Took dog there today. Reminiscing.

Lovely open space, has markings on the pathway so if you are jogging etc or generally using this park for exercise its helpful as you can tell how far you have walked/run. Currently (Jan 2021) its extremely muddy due to wet weather. I took my dog and bumped in to several other dog owners who were all friendly (thats dog people for you) Dog poop bins a bit scarce...as is parking space but probably easy enough to park outside on the road if car park full. Doesnt seem to get too crowded, its a v open space, no real 'bottle necks' when walking, which is quite a valuable thing in these Covid times. It can be difficult to socially distance in some of the other places I walk with my dog
B. P.
Natural gentle bowl contours. Ideal for the free C in the Park event for families.
M. H.
Lovely field for the dogs to run around in and play area for the kids to play in. Also has benches for you to sit down and enjoy getting out if you struggle to walk to far.
E. H.
OK for dog walking but not picturesque
R. J.
Great track to run or walk round, a beautifully kept park with football pitches and cricket, exercise equipment which to be honest could do with some maintenance, plenty of dog waste bins. thoroughly recommend
j. p.
Won 3-2 so all good
S. T.
Plenty of space for the kids to burn off energy, nice park, added bonus of zip wire and obstacle course outside main park too. Great place.
T. H.
A favourite place of mine, lovely big park with plenty of space for people to enjoy themselves. Playparks for the young'uns and plenty of football space for the older'uns.
N. S.
Big wide open spaces, physical activity areas and football pitches. Also a banging playground at the far end - go search this out
R. S.
The only problem is that there are no toilets more trees have been planted so more colour in the summer crocuses just appearing daffodils to follow the new wild flowers bed is all ways a picture a short walk to the village of Downend later in the year is full of flowers
