Reviews of Portway Park & Ride

Easy parking But not a fan of the bus prices. In other city's you are able to have a vastly discounted bus ride. We had to pay £4.60 per person for a day rider. In other towns and cities you can have a bus ticket for as little as £2 per person as you have parked outside of the city. Not worth it, save your money and use the car parks in the centre of town. It's cheaper.

It's a ok park and ride for its location it should be bigger and almost seems like it's been forgotten about compared to brislington and long Ashton park and ride as they have indoor heated waiting rooms wear as the Portway park and ride has a basic shelter and a porter cabin with toilet. Although with that it is a useful park and ride close to the motorway so great for someone traveling to visit Bristol.
Its a nice route along the Portway with a bus lane for most of that road wich is great for when traffic is bad in mornings heading in to Bristol.
This route has multiple stops so you can decide wear is best to stop for you and also if your shopping it saves having to walk across Bristol to get to just 1 bus stop.
It is a good park and ride to use when I'm out that way but my closet is brislington but I prefer long Ashton.
I only give it a (ok) rate as it needs some updating and expansion done and better road layout to exit and drive Bristol direction along Portway instead of up to the roundabout before being able to come back along the Portway.

Well I actually was in the shire train station but the park and ride is kind of near big carpark wonder if you could have a mass doggin meet up here

Good park and ride for Bristol.
From Avonmouth/shirehampton to the city centre.
Plenty of parking spaces.
Easy to get in and out of.
Bus drivers are pleasant. They leave on time, so make sure you get there early, otherwise you have to be prepared to wait for the next bus.
They are every 15 minutes though, and they run like clockwork so you never have to hang around for long.
P.
Free parking, overpriced ancient buses, charging ports, what's not to like?
S. C.
Parked here to go into Bristol. Car park was basically empty. Few electric car charging points. £7 return for 2.
C. B.
Friendly bus driver on my first experience of Bristol park and ride. Goes round in a loop out the back of primark so you get on the same stop you get off at.
Took about 25 minutes to get to Cabot and just under 15 to come back for £3.50, much cheaper than parking. Especially whilst flying solo.
C. W.
Makes visiting central Bristol really easy
S. G.
Good access and service, hiwever, the portaloos are disgusting and posing more of a health risk than covid!
P. G.
My new bus stop, I love it, is so fast and almost empty all the time
P. M. a. T. P. P.
Nice place, useful if you are going into town.
N. V.
Efficient good value service. My fault but I couldn't find return Stop but used Portway as interesting ride in, really close for on and off M5.
Z. Z. (.
At the time I visited it the parking lot was not in it best condition.
I only went there for the covid test and to be honest if you are using any gps app such as Waze or google maps the location is a bit hidden and tricky..
J. “. g. M.
Buses very frequent. Toilet. COVID test centre nearby. Plenty of parking.
l. b.
It was good , its just off the M5 , easy to get too .

Brilliant solution. Driving and parking in Bristol can be a nightmare and this solves the issue for me. The bus lanes do work well in Bristol and the stops are well placed for main business/entertainment areas in the city centre. The scheduled times are sketchy at best as Bristol always seems to be in rush hour mode. I have just put this review back to 5 stars. There was a period when quite a few drivers were downright ignorant and rude and they let the side down badly for the good ones. Thankfully this issue is much better now though.

On the few occasions I have used the park and ride, there's always been plenty of spaces. It's quicker to get into Bristol via this device than driving in, and it's far cheaper than parking.
The reason for giving 4 stars was that half my journey's didn't arrive on time, and all the roadworks added to the delay, which I was unaware of until we hit the traffic (I give myself a contingency for delays as well). Ok if you're a regular commuter, not so much if occasionally visiting for an appointment. Other than that, always a clean and pleasant journey.
S. C.
Good place to park and catch bus to visit city centre. It's 30 minutes to go to city centre. Close 5 pound for whole day. Mobile ticket will cost 4 pound.
Bus are clean and tidy. Drivers are well behave.
On my way to city centre I noticed all the city walls fulll if art and painting. Normally I noticed those in Africa.
I don't like it. Even in the hills are painted with some kinds of painted art words. It's looks ugly.
Who ever doing it please don't paint the nature like it. It's distorting the nature beauty.

This is a great park & ride, very accessible from the motorway with lots of parking spaces. Busses run reasonably frequently and quite late into the evening. The bus does stop multiple times on the way into Bristol, it is slower than the Long Ashton park & ride but it makes up for it in access from the M5.
S. C.
Great place to park always lots of room buses frequent and on time
M. &. D.
Good place to leave car if don't want to mess around in city centre driving. Parking is for free just pay for bus ticket to Bristol city centre, which is £6 with return for two adults. Must leave car park 9:30 at Saturday night, but it was plenty of time for us to discover city. Much cheaper and easier to use park and ride instead of driving straight into city.
K. S.
Coming up from the south, it is very handy using the P&R which saves driving into Bristol City. The fare is £3.50 return making it cheaper than parking charges. You can use the OAP bus pass making it free.
S. T.
Great park and ride. Loads of spaces, a toilet and regular buses to the city centre and to places like the Zoo and Clifton.
£4 for an all day ticket (if you use the First Bus app) is a great deal.
This one is just off the M5 so really handy if you're coming from Wales since you don't need to drive anywhere near Bristol.
Would recommend using this if you're heading into Bristol isntead of driving.
S. G.
It's a park and ride! What can I say. The toilet works but is pretty grim, the bus shelter is plastic so gets really hot. But has a long bench and plenty of railings to sit on while you wait for the bus. It's also used as shuttle bus site for events at Ashton Gate Stadium
A. A.
Frequency of buses good. Easy to find from M5. Cheaper prices if ticket bought through first bus app. Can then use all day on buses in and around Bristol.
M. W.
Plenty of room to park, easy to find just off junction 18 of M5 £3.50 return to centre or use your bus pass. (But not a Welsh or London bus pass)
A. T.
Brilliant....can't fault it
M. P.
Fairly efficient when not in rush hour. I would imagine it might not be too much fun when it is busy however in that event it would still be less stressful than fighting your way into Bristol by car.
l. w.
It is what it is... No it's not it's a covid test site
S. B.
Best park and ride for Bristol clean modern busses usb connection on every seat regular busses. Can use ticket on any bus in Bristol so can hop on and off when you want. Unlike Long Ashton where its one bus in and one bus out. Will use again. Thanks
A. J.
Large Park and Ride just a couple of minutes off the M5 at Avonmouth. Plenty of spaces and regular buses into Bristol; the journey takes about 20 minutes.
T. B.
Really handy place to park whilst visiting Bristol. Bus into town takes 20 minutes and is cheaper than parking in town.
j. c.
Very well organised
S. R.
Plenty of parking places and frequent buses. If only one could find the bus stop in Cabot's Circus to return to the terminus.
C. D.
Takes longer than the long Ashton once and can sometimes get stuck in traffic before the bus lane. Absolutely loads of parking though.
n. w.
Very happy with my ride, the bus driver was nice as well as the facilities on the bus are excellent. I love how you get a news paper when you get on the bus. Very very good.
S. T.
Much better way to travel ... stress free.... kinder to the environment so win win for all
r. H.

D. B.
Plenty of spaces and much easier and cheaper than parking in the centre.
Facilities could be improved, ie cleaner and more toilets.
S. J.
Bus was rarely late, I used this daily for 9months and never had any issues. Much faster and cheaper than driving into the city.
T. B.
The best way to get to see Bristol. Close to M5 junction, easy to find, plenty of parking, fair prices.
S. P.
£10.00 bus fare! Think I will keep using my car.
j. p.
Buses don't run with a proper timetable during the day - the saying tou wait ages for a bus and then 3 come at once is what happens at the end of the day.
T. C.
Convenient. For Bristol shopping. Allowed OAP bus pass. Frequent busses. Shame it doesn't run for Hippodrome chucking out.
S. H.
Very regular buses, which are comfortable and convenient. Well laid out carpark in a great location.
G. M.
Booked for an event at Ashton Gate I was visiting. Plenty of spaces and regular buses at a decent price, no issues at all.
R. H.
It seems to be the only bus service in Bristol that's reliable for commuting. Not so great outside peak times.
A.
Staggeringly inconsistent.
Edit: has been a lot better since First took over. They seem to understand that the buses need to be very frequent during rush hours!
D. T.
Great way to get in and around Bristol

(Translated) Nice thing the Park and Ride in England.
Arrive in a city, even a small one, parking on the outskirts and take the bus that takes you downtown. Depending on the city, you can pay for parking and buses, sometimes just the bus, like here in Bristol, and in other cases it's all free!
For those who are not particularly practical, driving on the right is the ideal solution as you do not have to go into the city and can also save money because the car parks in the center are expensive.

Bella cosa i Park and Ride in Inghilterra.
