Reviews of James Hamilton Heritage Park
C. E. L.
Lovely Park that has a little bit to offer every person. Paved pathway for wheel devices around a body of water. Many different car parks depending where you wish to start. Cafe and facilities. Total loop distance (tbc). Lovely nature walk. Dog friendly. 2 different play areas.
Water sports are offered here through a company.
M. F.
Good place to see some sailing, come across large number of ducks, swan. Buy tickets for sailing in advance as they operate on specific days and in a specific time period.
MOST IMPORTANTLY - don't rely on public transport or uber to return from this place as most likely no uber or taxi is available from here. The nearest train station is about 1.2-1.5 miles walking.
S. M.
Top tip, take a canoe or even a paddle over to the swan estuary. (4 minute swim). The foliage over there is naturally beautiful, we saw many different species from Toads to Lesser spotted oyster catchers. Please just be careful not to disturb any cygnets, they can be sensitive and skittish. Be sure to stop off at the cafe for a latte and perhaps some millionaires shortbread, alternatively bring a flask.
A. S.
A Good place to have coffee with a fabulous view of lake. Space for walking around and playing area for kids.
-.
I like it here, there are swimming birds, people walking, people talking, families enjoying, and me sitting in my car now and then. It is easy access has ample parking and apparently you can charge up your car there. I was in the cafe twice I think with gran but it was so long ago, and I only used the bathroom. I'm sure it's still very nice for everyone. Go there enjoy some cake, watch the birds.
T. S. S.
Great place to walk in all weather. With a nice, reasonably priced cafe. 4 times around the Loch is 5km.
J. M.
Great walk around the Loch with a wee local cafe which serves good coffees and food
S. H.
Great short walk in EK ... pathways clean and well maintained.
Excellent for wheelchair and buggies.
Dog walkers are mostly respectful - almost all on leads however some little absent minded and allow leads to cross entire pathway - difficult for joggers like myself but overall really nice.
Nice playground for younger kids..
G. B.
Lovely walk around with grandkids on there scooters, then on the play park, they loved it
M. F.
Had a coffee with friends in the riverside cafe which overlooks the Loch- lovely views of sun glistening n the still surface. Lots of folk enjoying the walk round too. Loads of benches to take a breather and the circuit isn’t too much for young and old. Disappointed that the cafe menu has no V signs for us vegetarians and today there wasn’t even the option of an egg roll. Cheese toastie was tasty and service was spot on- friendly and quick.
R. S.
First time I've been here , loved the walk around the lake but adored the geese , they were hunners lol
S. B.
Lovely walk around the pond, where there are all types of birds, kids can take to the pond with boats where there are supervised people watching to make sure kids are safe while put on the water... nice tea room where you can try the homemade scones (delicious) and sit out on the balcony and take in the splendid view.... definitely worth the visit.
S. S.
A beautiful park with a loch and play park for kids , and a cafe with nice staff and free car parks.
D. r.
Lovey area to visit. Beautiful scenery, lots to do
L. C.
The circuit round the water was quiet and there was a good variety of birds about. In the car part at the waters edge up from the cafe, in an empty bay near us, someone had tipped all the rubbish from their coffee/ snacks out on the ground, despite the adequate provision of bins. Sickening.
M. B.
Lovely park to walk round. Not particularly big, takes about 20 minutes to walk all round it. Lots of birds to see. Café there too. Small play park for little ones. Ample parking if you come by car.
B. F.
A great walk. The geese and swans have all had chicks and it's lovely to see the wild life. However watch your feet when walking as the path is covered in geese poo. Lovely outlook especially when the sun is out.
H. L.
Lovely place to have a walk, for young and old. Also great to walk the dog. Cafe on site as well, only open for takeaway at moment.
C. R.
Great park for family dog walks. It's maintained well however on my visit there was quite a few memorial trees uprooted and the water bumper cars have seen better days. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times which I prefer. It took me 15 minutes at a brisk pace to complete a lap. It was beautiful to see the birds and their chicks. There is a small play park for children.
b. c.
Great day out nature watching with my grand-daughter .
Lovely to see so many different birds in and around the loch .
Canadian Geese over for a Summer stay along with Greylag Geese
Watch out for the tiny toads crossing the path at the far end of the loch .
Boating classes for the young and old .
There's also bumper boats and pedalos .
Lovely tea room with plenty of goodies on offer.
If you are a walker , it's a great place for doing a few circuits .
It also has the added attraction of Mains Castle , a private residence overlooking the loch .
M. R. S.
Has 2 play areas for the kids.
4 Electric car charging points in the car park.
You can walk round the reservoir. One loop of the path is 1200 meters. In old money that would be about 0.75 miles. So 2 loops round is about 1.5 miles.
M. G.
A nice well maintained place to relax or get some exercise. Lots of dog walkers who are very tidy and considerate. Facilities reduced now by COVID-19 but still lots of visitors. Nice wildlife and good play parks for the children.
V. Z.
Not a large park, but such a lovely peaceful place. Also has a playground and a picnic area.
B. P.
Beautiful wee park, got play area for kids. Nice park for family walks
L. D.
Little grandson loved seeing the geese. Nice size for a quick little walk especially if the weather not the best
H. W.
Lovely place to visit. Great for walking and watching water fowl.
Small restaurant does lunches and teas etc. Reasonable amount of parking, well provisioned for disabled.
Restaurant door a pain for getting buggies or wheel chairs into, but it is accessible with care and determination.
A. G.
Great place to take gently walking exercise. The walking surface around the Loch is paved; flat and we'll maintained so it is an easy walk of everyone. There is onsite parking with both disabled spaces and charging points for electric vehicles. There also is two childrens play parks, one for older children and the other for younger children.
There is an onsite cafe and also boating hires although this is currently not available due to the Covid19 pandemic.
What I enjoy the most though is watching the waterfowl; the Swans; Ducks; Herons and geese. I'm sure there are more than this but I think you will get the picture.
C. V.
Great place for wee walk, lovely little pond with birds and wildlife. Great fun for kids as it has playground as well.
J. R.
Great cafe by the lake in a gorgeous park, staff we're very helpful. A great selection of cakes and food at reasonable prices. The ideal place to go, especially if your children are doing watersports on the lake.
S. M.
Beautiful and tranquil little park. You would think it is just a park to walk the dog but it has an amazing population of waterfowl, a cafe and tons of water activities to do. A favourite for me and my little baby.
D. D.
A lovely walk around a very pleasant lake.
Stopped by the cafe for a coffee. After a 15 minute wait with no employee coming to us at the barrier.
There were 2 staff behind the counter during this time. Finally we were asked if we wished to sit inside or on balcony. We said inside please. As the staff had not cleared any tables we were advised a further wait of 10 minutes due covid cleaning would be needed. As one of our party had limited mobility and further standing was an issue we said we would leave.
Thoroughly unsatisfactory customer service and a very frustrating experience. Avoid.
B. B.
This is a lovely place calm waters , peaceful and very therapeutic, for stress , lots of sitting places , you can walk or sit watch the ducks ,
K. L.
Had a lovely stroll round the Loch but there was a lot of geese and duck poo on the path way which wasn't the nicest. The little one wanted out the pram to walk but still is not fully stable on feet so couldn't let out of the pram incase fell on the poo. Had to wipe down pram before could be put in pram other than that was a great day out.
b. c.
Great place to go, always enjoy walking around the loch rain or shine. The Waterside Cafe does really good coffee & cakes
A. F.
Nice 1 mile walk around the loch, 2 small playparks for the kids, brilliant water sports facilities
E. C. 2. S. S.
We have been passing by this park for years but never had anytime to stop, so determinedly we went for a coffee and then walked round the pond, that's it ticked of the bucket list now 🤣
Ps, Will be stopping again very good coffee and cake.
J. K.
Lovely place for a short stroll on a sunny day. Simple flat circular route, easily controlled to render it safe during the pandemic. But stiĺl very pleasant surrounded by nice people.
W. B.
Nice walk round but disappointed at the state of the grass at the far end of the Loch near the road. Used to be cut and maintained now its a disgrace. Saying that good swingparks for the kids.
N. L.
Lovely place for a dog walk. Great bins! Very clean. Good parking.
N. B. (. J.
Nice scenic walk away from the busyness of EK and nice cute cafe to sit in through the day. Good for kids as lots of boating activities, swing park and good for dogs on leads only.
A. S.
Lovely wee walk around the water. Lots of people around but a shame there was nowhere available to get a cuppa. Definitely missing out there
J. W.
Nice stroll around the lake. Very nice cafe with lovely staff. Hats off to you girls.
B. H.
Great place for a walk. The short distance around the loch means you can go for a short or long walk depending on the number of laps you do. Scenery nice
L. B.
Love this wee park and play areas are very good for the children. Glad more swings etc have been added. I always enjoy the walk round the pond and the grounds are well maintained. Would highly recommend a visit.
L. C. n. A.
Excellent park with a good circular walk round lake
d. S.
Lovely place to walk and clear the head, great for dog walking too
S. B.
Great wee walk. Lots of ducks, geese and swans. Nice and flat.
J. N.
Lovely place to sit and relax after a bike ride and enjoy watching the birds and the scenery.
A decent cafe there as well.
P. F.
Very nice place for relax or same activities....walking,running and water sports...there is playground for children and coffe shop with balcony terrace...I am there couple times in mounth, very recommend...
T.
Lovely little cafe but they are so understaffed. Just 2 on which isn't adequate. Need more staff.
T. D.
Lovely sunny day , free parking, walking slowly round enjoying the ducks, swans, watching the boats taking to the water, a very peaceful day out
A. R.
Very nice loch to go all around. Even picnic tables and benches
C. R.
Nice walk shame about all the bird poo on the path
A. M.
Lots of wildlife, lovely cafe, playpark area for kids, boatrides.
J. R.
It's a very short walk about 15 Min taking your time. Nice tarmac walk no issues if you have a pram/buggy or someone in a wheel chair. But rap up warm as the wind chills you to the bone as it's very open. There's a small play park for younger children. Plenty of parking as well.
C. E.
Nice walk , and good for my son learning to ride his bike round the loch
B. F.
Lovely easy walk in a clean, well maintained environment.
Very popular with families.
L. C. n. A.
Very well set out for water sports and playgrounds as well as a nice circular walk around the lake with lots of wildlife to see as well as castle tower!!
J. J.
Friday night non-coached open water session - perfect for intermediate and experienced swimmers 👌 Triangle circuit is about 325m according to Garmin watch.
E. C.
Grt place to have a walk, run or walk the dog, children playground and benches to just sit and take in the view.
L. M.
Always a lovely walk. Nice coffee shop and friendly staff.
A. P.
This is a lovely open park, theres a great nature walk with a tarmac footpath, so it's easy for wheelchairs and prams, and theres also a nature reserve on the lake.
It has an enclosed kids play are with soft wood chip on the ground.
Ample parking, although the park can become very popular and busy at times.
A Cafe is available for teas and coffees and snacks or lunch, and they do take away.
Theres lots of swans, geese, and ducks walking around, on the footpath at bits.
Very open aspect, and can be very cold, even if the sun is shining, particularly when out of season. Warm clothing necessary I find.
B. M.
Had a lovely walk in nice surroundings be nice for a picnic when its aloud again.
K. P.
Lovely to look at all the birds . Good to walk around (avoiding all the bird ..can't think of word that complies with google terms but I am sure you know what I mean)
Good couple of parks for kids and a mini zip wire.
S.
Walked around the lake with a friend. Nice area and plenty of seating dotted around if you want to take a rest at any time.
On the road side of park I felt that the ducks should be a little more protected with a wooden fence, especially the very young ducks.
Went to the Waterside Cafe and due to having only 2 staff working there we had quite a wait in the queue. As one member of staff was doing the dishes only one other member was cleaning tables, taking orders and marshaling people entering and leaving, giving out bills and making up the coffees. Definitely needed one more person working there...
P. N.
Great place for all ages! Picturesque.
I. R.
Always a Great place to exercise or to clear your head, whatever the weather
E. V.
Lovely little park with a lake, playground and cafe as well. A little windy as it's in a hilly area so bring a jacket or cardigan just in case.
G. A.
Not suitable for young kids only adults can walk ariund
D. C.
Always enjoyable to walk despite the many folk. Saw a goosander pair and black headed guls along with the usua geese, coots and ducks. Looking a little tired in places (e.g. tye main path boundaries ) and personally I think there needs to be some attention made to the increasing amount of plastic litter often found strewn in the margins.
B. H.
Nice place for quick walks around.
Have place for kids to play
A. M.
Nice short walk around takes 20 minutes (I am slow with short legs!) Spoiled only by the bird droppings nearly all the way around. Its lovely to see the wildlife and the fluffy baby geese out for a waddle too. Scenic and good for the soul, and the play parks are great for younger and older children.
K. R.
Great walk, small play area for kids, usually grab a coffee from somewhere and do a couple of laps of the lake with friends and family, recommended for an easy afternoon wonder
P. M. U.
Great place to walk with a toddler. With geese and ducks among many birds you can encounter up close, it's also very educational. There is a swing park and play area that toddlers and parents can enjoy also. We were also fortunate to see deer during our visit.
M. R.
Fairly busy in the coffee shop but not so much in the park, although it was a very wet afternoon.
G. M.
It was ok need more commitment and support from the local authorities to help it get back up and running
L.
Great place to go for a walk. Simple but stunning. The park itself has its own wildlife that live in the Loch.
S. s. b.
Nice parks for the wee one's to play on and a relaxing walk around the Loch is in store for you as well as plenty of seating areas spread out around the Loch with picnic tables also dotted around. There is also a cafe that does amazing soup of the day and other hot food and snacks at a reasonable price. They also sell packets of seeds to feed the ducks with as to discourage feeding them with bread which is really bad for them apparently.
J. E.
Lovely walk and fascinating watching all the different species of birds. Good play area for the little people. Could do with bigger car parking
M. L.
Always a great day ot for a walk
G. H.
Nice place to visit and walk safely. Plenty of wildlife too makes everyone relax. A cafe is open should you wish toilets or a coffee break.
R. G.
An excellent place to walk around and take in the scenery on a beautiful summer's day.
M. G.
Beautiful spot even if it was very chilly. The tea and coffee building sorted out the old bones lol. Lovely lady served us and it was great. We'll worth a visit.
S. B.
Damp place today but still plenty of wildlife to see
A.
I saw two boats capsize and a goose hissed at me. A+
C. C.
First visit to this park. Lovely layout with a good sized loch. Not a very big park but ideal for some nice visits with the kids. Good play areas plus the opportunity to take them out on boats on the loch. Great cafe with good quality products. Variety of entrance methods as it is the first floor of the building but with fantastic views of the loch and the wider area from cafe seats etc on the balcony. Parking facilities really good as well.
R. A.
Really lovely place for a walk with lots of wildlife. Just now there is an abundance of newly hatched, geese, swans, ducks and moorhens. On site are two Rapid chargers for ev cars so you can plug in and hi for a walk and come back to a fully charged car, all totally free.
S. K.
Lovely pond to have a good walk around , feels nice and safe even in later evenings as always a dog walkers /joggers around too . Little parks available for kids to have a play around too . Small but nice cafe for a quick bite to eat or coffee/cake .
B. M.
Nice cafe, friendly staff and good view.
P. W.
It's a short flat walk all around on a tarmacked path, great for anyone with mobility issues. It's very busy with walkers and runners. There is free parking on site and a reasonable amount of spaces but on a nice day it's very busy and parking is difficult. There are 2 play parks and a café.
h. r.
Nice wee park big pond with loads of birds cafe and swing parks for the kids plenty of benches on the walk round the water , cafe and boat hire pleasant place for a picnic
S. H.
Had a nice walk round the heritage park, sat on one of the benches and had lunch. Getting my steps up!! There are two playparks for kids, when they get bored. You can feed the ducks, there is a cafe also, which is currently closed due to Covid. Nice place for a visit. Get there early on summer days, there is limited parking
C. D.
This place holds fond memories for me, been walking around it since kids were young on their bikes. Can get busy, social distancing can be tricky. Lovely park for younger and older kids, ducks, Canadian geese, swans, boats, coffee shop, washroom etc, love it.
A. A.
Lovely cafe with relaxing view over the water. X
v.
Very nice , good cafe ,well worth a wee visit and walk
K. L. C.
Very pleasant walk around the lake and super coffee shop ... the grounds are super clean and well looked after ...
d. m.
A lovely park to walk round. It isnt to big so ideal of you arent used to long walks. The small loch has ducks and swans and also does water sports. There is a small park for kids to play in as well. There is a cafe which does food and drinks. This is a great place not just in the sun but even crisp winter days.
m. p.
Really lovely little park. Not a big walk but an easy one round a little manmade loch, an excellent little cafe serving nice coffee, quick lunches...and massive baked tatties!
M. S.
Beautiful pond with some lovely wildlife at the nature reserve part of the pond including baby toads.
D.
Lovely park
Has open area for dogs
Lots of geese, swans and various other birds
Parking
Also have little play parks
R. S.
Great spot for a walk if you're in EK! More worthwhile to do other walks in Glasgow surrounds if you're coming from outside EK.
G. M.
It's a beautiful park with a lovely gentle walk around the loc, highly recomend giving it a go.
K. G.
Loved this park!! Kids had a great time playing and walking around the water!!!
R. H.
Nice open space with free parking and a small picturesque lake. There are several small areas of kids play area and the paths are smooth and not muddy, so were suitable for kids scooters (although bikes aren't allowed). The cafe is warm and welcoming with friendly staff. Would definitely recommend for a stroll for young families.
K. P.
Great coffee and cake at the cafe! Fantastic views of the lake and wildlife. Great place for walking and excellent spacing of seats to sit on. Level paths for wheelchair, scooters and easy parking spaces for disabled people. Met a really lovely couple today as well as other people I didn't know who all returned warm greetings as well as giving to people they didn't know.
R. C.
Have used this a lot over the years. It is a great place to go for a walk and lunch. However this week we found walking round it very difficult. The path had been gritted from the car park but stopped at the main path... it was like an ice rink! Very dangerous.... we ended up on the muddy grass. DO NOT GO IF IT'S ICY OR SNOWY!
G. M.
Lovely place for a walk. One lap is roughly 0.8 miles, so if it's fitness and wellbeing you're after then it's great.
It's great if you are pushing a pram or wheelchair as it's all flat.
Nice coffee shop there as well.
D. K.
Lovely walk round the big pond, all on the flat. Distance of 3/4 of a mile (seemed much further, that's old age for you 😜). Cafe was shut and no boating /water activities I'm assuming due to the pandemic.
The world has nearly stopped spinning but oor wee Nikla still plotting to split up the Union.
Stop hen just STOP, we are ALL just so tired of you now, the country is slowly dying!
A. H.
Lovely walk to many geese and ducks poo everywhere not pleasant
E. C.
Great place for a quick walk. All tarmac so good for buggies, wheelchairs, scooters etc also short (about 2k maybe for the circuit?). It has a (very small) play park so good for kids!
D.
Smelled of goose poo but apart from that, lovely place for a relaxing walk.
S. M.
On a sunny day this park is great for some fresh air and families with young children. Lots of different play areas for different ages. Good cafe with view over lake. Lake is 1.2km walk around and paved all the way. Open water swimming in the lake is usually good but the lake weed is very long this year and is distracting for the arms and legs. Good 6km bike loop on mostly back roads surrounding the park. If you're into triathlon, you can do all 3 sports here if you go on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings during summer.
D. S.
I use the park most often for charging my electric car. There are two large rapid chargers which so far have always been well maintained.
Whilst the car charges I enjoy the loch as it is flat and easily managed with nice views around the loch. Sometimes I don't bother with that and pop into Graces for a cup of coffee and a cake, which again has always been pleasant with the view across the loch.
At the weekend I take the kids and they love the wee parks and zip line.
It's not a singing and dancing place but useful, well maintained and always worth an hour of my time and yours I'm sure.
G. D.
Lovely level walk round the pond. Pity that the café only does takeaways after 3.30pm on Sundays.
J. S.
I'd have a go and say it's around half a mile walk, alot of car parking spaces, a good park, a cafe is excellent and you can hire boats to use in the loch. There is always swans, birds, geese around too!
m. b.
Great wildlife. Geese are everywhere. Good wee walk.
L. R.
Lovely little park. Ideal if you have small children out for a walk or people who can't manage far as it is quite small. Dog on leashes only so not ideal for dog walkers. Clean enough, little play park.
N. H.
Lovely walk around the lake. Beautiful countryside and lots of birds about too (both on the lake and in the trees). The cafe is only open for takeaway during this current Level 4 lockdown.
W. G.
Lovely walk round park with grandaughter she enjoyed the swans and ducks ,went to Waterside Cafe had snacks this place was really good clean inexpensive and staff were very helpful.will go back to park and cafe.
K. K.
Great place for all the family, water sports available, separate play parks for different age groups, good place for walking no matter what your fitness level is, great wheelchair access, good place to walk the dog but be aware it is a birds nature reserve, keep your dogs on the lead. Great cafe opened all year round, plenty free parking.
G. C.
Busy but lots of signs reminding people to social distance and wear masks. Great parks for kids and a nice easy place for a stroll. Lots of benches which are nice for a break in the occasional sunshine
-.
Quiet easy to access, a cafe restaurant. In a nice part of Ek
The lake is nice, and there are a lot of birds about.
s. M.
Nice park, not much to do but if you enjoy watching all the different kind of birds, and taking a nice wee 30 min slow walk around the man made loch, then its ideal for just getting out for a little while. No neds or idiots hanging around at all (except the cheeky geese😆)
H. U.
Great place for relaxing!🤩
G. p.
OK walk for the dogs, would be much better if the cafe let the dogs in
P. M.
Nice little park to go for a short walk around. Has small sailing and peddle boats for hire from spring onwards. Also has a lovely cafe where you can enjoy a latte or pot of tea after. Ducks, swans, moorhens and geese frequent the water. Small playpark for children.
S. W.
Nice place to visit ducks are very friendly ✨️
R. M.
When will people learn not to feed the ducks, geese and swans! Nice wee place but wish they would put more effort into cleaning up the water.... it looks icky!
D. S.
Nice walk around the Loch. Loads of geese and ducks to see. During Covid-19 there is a one-way system around the water (anticlockwise) which most visitors observe. Activities and cafe currently closed due to Covid-19 restrictions.
s. b.
Loved seeing all the new chicks 😊
m. c. l. i. G.
This park is the ideal place for all the family. You can walk round the lake and enjoy the sight of swans, ducks, and geese just being natural and then have food in the Waterside Restaurant. There is even facilities to be enjoyed on the water.
S. S.
Great for a nice walk with pram , great and clean play park not to big ;) for the smaller kids
S. T.
Lovely walk although you have to dodge all the geese poo as people don't listen to the signs and DONT feed the birds other than that lovely walk.
A. M.
Lovely place to walk and chill
R. R.
Nice cafe there where you can go and relax after you've been for a walk round the loch a couple of times? Or on a really nice day have a picnic or a BBQ? OR for the really active you could use the water sports section?
Been a while since I've been back. Still a nice coffee shop. After walk round Loch went for soup & sandwich and a coffee. Busy at lunch time
D. C.
Great place for a walk and let the little ones burn off some energy on the park. There are two parks one is for little children and the other one is for older age group with a zip line. The park is a lovely walk with lots of birds and geese that is good for little people to learn about birds. There is a cafe serving hot and cold food and ice lolly’s with a selection of hot and cold drinks. Roof top terrace is nice if the weather allows you to sit out and watch the boats. The centre also has water activities with small sail boats and peddle boats if you want to take them out. The path around the loch is tarmac so both pram and scooter friendly.
D. C.
Used to really enjoy walking round, lately the birds must have been breeding as there are about 3 locations you can't walk the path without doing a tiptoe dance to avoid the droppings. Apart from that, lovely views and nice nature reserve at the back
a. h.
It's very relaxing.. everyone is friendly. Good place to wall your dog.. gray for children to see swans, ducks etc.. Also has a lovely cafe.. serves lively hone made scones.. soup.. snacks.. and staff are very helpful and friendly
t. m.
Lovely place to walk round with the dog. The cafe is lovely, good choice of cakes and drinks. Nice flat walk.
S. L.
This is great for a walk or even a day out, they have boating here but for some reason its not been allowed for ages not sure why, loads of geese just walking around with young and not bothered by us at all, playpark for the kids and a cafe if you get hungry or thirsty, parking available, had a walk up here when it was sunny and it was honestly lovely just sat for ages on a bench watching the geese, it was great.
J. T.
Popular walk round the Loch, the cafe is open for take away during lockdown.
Lots of geese, ducks etc but also rarer species like comerant and gozandar.
Has become busy in l9ckdow but try visiting early morning or even for a good picture of the castle
E. R.
Lively place also has a cafe so handy to have something to eat after a good walk around deff recommend this park
J. C.
Good length walk. We took the kids and their bikes and walked round the loch once then went to the park. Park was a little lackluster but alright. Would go again but I just feel there needs to be a little more to do for children.
K. H.
Good parking and the walk around the pond is flat on a tarmac path. Remember that the toilets are closed at the moment. As is the cafe. But there is a Morrisons turn right out of the park entrance.
E. G.
Lovely location great place for walking, nice play park to take the grand children.
T. W.
Nice walk and good for families
J. S.
Nice Park.
Nice place to walk round and Nice.swing Park for kids with plenty parking.
Small cafe too.
Only downfall is far too many ducks and swans making it dirty.
R. R.
Good place to stay with kids they can run play in the playground and see lots of birds. In summer you can rent a smal boat to cross the lake. There is a nice bar, breakfast is very good and the view to the lake is beautiful.
A. M.
My Sister & I went for coffee it was lovely, the staff were ever so nice, it was a beautiful day.
Lovely clean place, warm & very friendly. I would reccomend to anyone.
If you have young children there is a children's play park . 5☆ from me.
D. S.
Nice short walk around small Loch which you can repeat if you need to get your miles in. Cafe with views over Loch and some balcony tables outdoors. Very busy at weekends due to Covid-19 reducing table capacity.
C. F.
Great walk around the loch. Dogs need to be kept on a lead. Lots of birds swans , different geese and ducks just roaming about. Recommend this area of EK. Childrens play area and great for kids to feed Swans and ducks. Plenty of free parking.
A. W.
A little gem, quiet when I went. Some much needed rest and nature watch
G. G.
Nice park with a lake and cafe.
T. C.
Great for walks and runs as it's nice and flat. There is a couple of small play parks for the kids. The parking isn't great as it can fill up really quick on a busy day. If the weather is nice it can use up a couple of hours
A. N.
Great place for kids to play and for a walk about
e. w.
Lovely park, level walk round the manmade lake - pedalos available for hire + they do watersports lessons. Lovely cafe above the boat shed.
It can get really busy early evening and weekends.
L. T.
Good for a very easy walk on a tarmac path but no good for letting your dog play or run around. It also has a children's play park.
A. F.
Lovely setting, but unfortunately the grounds are poorly maintained, and lots of litter, which rather spoils the place.
G.
Beautiful place. Had a lovely walk all the way around. Ducks wander around with chicks all over and there's parks etc to keep the kids entertained. Parking might be a bit tedious on a sunny day.
I. I.
Nice Park plenty for children to enjoy.
C. M.
This was a surprise planned by my friend first visit and we will return, lovely walk and on a lovely autumnal day a hot bowl of soup from the coffee shop, lovely way to spend a sat afternoon.
D. G.
Great place to exercise winter and summer. Joggers mostly patient with toddlers and push chairs. Toddlers play area consistently good but teens area subject to hard use and consequently failures of equipment. We hired a pedallo and were constantly guarded whilst on the water: a little disturbing but I guess necessary in these days of council insurance. Worth at least a couple of hours plus picnic.
B. C.
Always nice for a quick wander around, coffee of course if there is time
I. H.
Check schedules first but sailing and canoeing here. Loch Cafe a wee bonus if you fancy some lunch or a tea/coffee.. Go for a walk round the man made loch and enjoy the local wildlife. You'll feel much better after a couple of laps😊
U.
Great I feed the bird from time to time there's this one goose I feed I call him Travis he constantly fights off other ducks for bread nice cafe and lovely castle a farm aswell
E. G.
Lovely location - plenty of parking spaces - children play area - small restaurant - just a lovely place to meet friends and family for a few hours
H. C.
Café always slow and unfriendly. Park itself is good but always crowded. Generally friendly folk there. We saw some tiny frogs once.
A. M.
Ten minutes dmfrom my house and a lovely area to walk, with play areas for children and lots of water fowl on the Loch.
T.
Nice park with lake, boating facilities, cafe, children's playground, wildfowl, and a measured perimeter of 1200m for joggers and walkers exercising. Reasonable parking but can be busy at times.
E. J. C.
Nice walk on any day.
m. c.
Loved it took our grand kids and they loved it aswell
K. M.
Great park to walk around or have a picnic in. Swans and geese everywhere. Swing park for younger kids and older. Only negative is how early to cafe/shop closes especially with the great weather we've had this year.
C. M.
Peaceful spot to walk or sit on nice or not so nice days
t. q.
Lovely place for a nice walk
J. L. (.
Nice well looked after Lake. Path goes all way round with many benches. There is also a tearoom. Good parking.
I. M.
HERITAGE LOCH is a wonderfully relaxing walk around there is a Brilliant cafe and when it is sunny and warm a great balcony to sit. Out and enjoy the view.there a small child swing park and some older children play area there is boats to hhitsand children can take there bikes or skates or scooters around the walk way as long as they are supervised by a parent.and to keep an eye out for the older walkers you can take your dog with you on a lead and remember your poo bags.there is benches dotted around the park so you can check out the loch at different areas there is a couple of picnic benches at the bottom end near the bird sanctuary.its a beautiful Loch for everyone to enjoy.
D. M.
We stopped here to eat our picnic of Greggs pies, a great outlook on to the water watching the geese. It was busy with walkers doing their daily exercise round the loch. The tearoom was still closed.
J. A.
Nice wee park but for such a large venue I'd have expected public toilets not loos in the far side of the café.
J. R.
Nice park for all the family. Plenty of birds to look at.
D. T.
Great spot to feed the birds. Nice and flat with smooth paths so it's good for a walk as well. Wrap up though, it's always windy.
R. M.
Nice place to walk all the baby ducks etc were out 😀
J. I.
Excellent local park built round a loch. Plenty of wildlife to be seen especially in summer with plenty of goslings, sygnets and ducklings. Playground for the kids and boats for hire. There is also a good cafe.
A. P.
Lovely little gem of a place to go for a nice little walk. Playparks for wee ones and slightly older kids as well.
M. M.
Often visit heritage park to go for good walk x lovely park with swings and plenty for children to keep themselves amused as well as feeding the ducks and geese well worth a visit x
J. M.
This is a great place to go for a walk and I was in a group of 14 people who all walk at different speeds and do as many laps that they want. The cafe is great for a hot drink after being out in the cold and the staff are all pleasant and courteous all the time
A. C.
Nice walk around the pond.
M. J.
ponf with big kids playground and alot of ducks and swans to feed too
A. G.
Lovely flat walking path, ideal for people with decreased mobility, children with bikes or just pushing a pram. The coffee shop is geeat, nice food and friendly staff
S. H. A. S.
Beautiful walk around the lake
M. M.
Lovely stroll round water/park
L. S.
Nice, but it's on the small side and too many geese wandering about making a mess of the pavements that don't get cleaned up
I also do not like that every summer the JAM Club (Jesus and me) pollute the park with their big tent, parking their cars on the grass. Luring kids to be exposed to religious propaganda.
I. S.
It's all a blurr ! Did I go there? was it just a dream? Took my dog Nora around the foot path skirting the pond. Almost beaten up by 2 swans and their signets! Witnest baby frog carnage as pedestrians crushed tiny frogs underfoot.Go there if you if DARE!!!!
c. m.
Nice wee place for walk round not too big walk it round in about 20mins dog friendly too & small cafe & toilets pedlos if open swing parks for kids
K. C.
Took my toddler granddaughter for a visit to the play area before walking round the Loch. We both thoroughly enjoyed our visit!
B. P.
The amount of geese pop is incredible, makes a walk quite difficult, but hey it's a bird sanctuary, great EV charging capability and a reasonably good cafe (used to be better).
R. K.
Lovely walk but there are a lot of geese and swans to avoid. You ensure all dogs are kept on a lead.
D. P.
It's small but good...swans, Heron, ducks and seagulls ...ahh and the occasional fox
A. R.
Great boating and kids park
M. H.
Visited the playpark with my 3 year old grandson, plenty room for running around & plenty things to play on. We then went to the tearoom & whilst the food was delicious, I was unimpressed when I took my grandson to the toilet to wash off the remnants of his Cornetto & on my return found my table cleared of half a bottle of diet Pepsi cola & half a carton of orange juice.
M. P.
Bit of a one way walkers paradise to many memorials to people no longer Here, to many folk feeding birds when signs ask not to, bread is the wrong thing for water foul anyway, does more damage to them than good.
B. S.
One of nicest little parks in EK/Glasgow area. Walk round loch in less than 30min. Enjoy watching water fowl. Toilet facilities limited hours, same as elsewhere.
A. H.
Easy walk around the loch and it is a popular place . Mixed bird life on the water and that is always a pleasure .
Good parking and there is also a cafe.
T. C.
Lovely walk around Loch and enjoyed a cuppa and sandwich from café. Great play areas for kids.
P. C.
A nice wee walk in the the city 'burbs.

S. N.
Beautiful Park. Childrens play Park. Cafe. Well worth a ivisit
A. D. M.
On the stewartfield rd near the kingsgate shopping area in east kilbride. Has lots of areas to visit. Boating pond where children can be taught canoeing and other activities, pink legged geese, ducks and swans.
Beautiful restaurant staff friendly and helpful path for disabled people.
Children's play areas. You can also walk round the pond. In the summer you have be careful of the small toads and frogs that are born you .may see signs asking you to be aware of the toads ans frogs crossing. Great place.❤😊
F. O.
Great all year round for the different people that turn up depending on the season.
Restaurant good but not cheap. Not the Ritz prices but take your own if you have kids. Or you'll end up at manky Mc'D's.
A. H.
Great place for short walks
A. H.
Nice park, plenty of parking, a cafe in normal times and about a mile walk round the lake. Watch out for swans crossing the road!
M. R.
Lovely park for walks and kids. Water in the lake needs to be treated and kids play area needs to be extended and it will be a 5 star place.
C. P.
Great !!! we discovered this place last weekend, the cafe serves nice food, it was a beautiful day to sit outside on the balcony after a walk round the park. We will return soon.
D. W.
Nice walk round the Loch, just short of a Km I think. Plenty bird life and a nice wee cafe for a brew and cake

J. M.
It should be a lovely place . The kids play parks are great 👌, the wee coffee shop is BRILLIANT 👌. But the walk round the Loch is usually as busy as a main st ☹️...

P. K.
Lovely area to walk around.play area for kid's.beautiful loch with swans and other wildlife.water sports availsble.nice cafe.plenty parking spaces some with electric charge

Nice wee walk with the kids. I like the fact they don't let bikes cycle round but kids can still indulge, makes it a bit safer than Strathclyde!
D. S.
Beautiful Loch particularly at sunset. A wonderful facility for EK and well worth a visit for those further afield, once conditions allow.
K.
Free parking cafe full even on a wet day in October. Large lake with boats in the summer, swans and a good place to take the dogs.
J. A.
Quiet and peaceful, pathway is mostly gritted and fine to walk on, just a bit slushy beside boat house.
L. (.
Lovely park and plenty of seating for use. Very busy park but everyone very respectful of each others space.
M. M.
Great for walking round on your own , with friends or with the kids. Three poké stops and lots of water type pokemon and one gym. Lots of friendly birds to feed too.

M. M.
My first visit only to see water pouring in the window & water coming down a wall, a member of staff had to move a picture so it wouldn't get ruined. Tomato soup was ok
D. L.
This is my calm place to go to after a visit to my mother who is in care with Alzheimers.

R. H.
Excellent park and walking areas. Also great electric car charging facility
J. M.
Not a huge walk round the lake would have to circumvent it at least 4 times for a decent March but nice place to visit.
D. W.
Just an absolute place to visit, the view across the Loch is stunning at sunset, the surrounding area of the Loch is immaculate, the cafe should be proper proud of its staff and a fantastic coffee
T. V.
From memory this beautiful park was once scheduled to be covered by housing in the early 90s but the twin forces of James Hamilton (farmer and the land owner) and Mike Rowan (who restored the tower house that is Mains Castle overlooking the park) put paid to that abomination and set this lovely park for all and sundry to enjoy. Let's hope the mendacious and out of touch South Lanarkshire council do not dual the road and ruin what is a an oasis of tranquillity and wildlife for EK and beyond.
s. h.
Lovely place to walk. A bit flooded just now but still lots of birds to see
A. C.
Lovely park, nice to see all the ducks and geese but it would be nice if they had someone cleaning the paths of all the bird poo, it's everywhere.

The play park let's it down for young children n should have a much better selection of kids chutes the one that is there isn't up to much especially for a semi-major park
N. M.
The paths flood badly when it rains but a nice walk. The playbacks are well maintained.
E. M. (.
Always loved this place. Grabbed a bit at the Waterside Cafe (formally known as Gracie On The Loch). Amazing!
S. H.
Now that I'm a dad I can appreciate somewhere to just go for a walk. This ticks all the boxes: 1) area to walk 2) ground 3) shoe compatible
P. M.

Great park but lots of duck poo! They clean it up all the time but there's so many ducks it can be a minefield

A good walk, spoiled a little by proximity to main road(some tree and hedge planting would help) and vandalised seats that the council are in no hurry to replace.
