The church has recently been refurbished after having a new roof added. It is and always has been one of Hackney's central landmarks and one of Hackney's oldest remaining historical buildings of the area which hosts many religious and social gatherings.
These photos were taken at the Remembrance Day Parade on the church grounds, which hosts a yearly ceremony whereby the whole community, including the local mayor and MP's, along side many charitable associations such as the Scout's and Girl Guiding Clubs as well as The Cadets all meet at Hackney Town Hall and they all perform a military march to the church. Where they all congregate to listen to speeches given, to observe the 2 minutes silence and a special church service takes place inside to mark the day of remembering all the many people who fought and died in the war and to also pay respect to those who lived on and helped rebuild and restore the area thereafter.

Pleasantly offbeat, well maintained but undermined by a fractious miasma wafting in the ether.
Some scattered chest tombs, markers and monuments studding the lawns between walkways. A pleasant walled garden and children’s play area.
The Clock Tower a dominant presence with mature shady trees and a rudimentary show of plants and shrubs.

Beautiful church and great venue, saw Ed Sheeran here, amazing!

This was my church once upon a time. Got married here. Beautiful church. They have done it up, so not too sure what it looks like. But the grounds are still amazing, especially for weddings.
M. N.
Great venue for gigs, picturesque, good sound and visibility not forgetting a well stocked bar!

A nice historical and peaceful oasis, just off mare St.. The coffee hut has been shut for 2 years but plenty of other places in a stones throw. Amongst the new flats on the ground floor (for instance) is a hidden coffee and cake cafe , seek and ye shall find!

I visited St John's at Hackney Church back in 2015 for a music event.
The church has lovely acoustics, stained glass windows, a large balcony area and good floor space that can be partitioned off.
It has quite a big plot for an inner-city district church. The graves surrounding the perimeter mean it will probably never be able to be sold or bought for anything other than a place of peace. The gardens add to the charm and peacefulness of the grounds, making it a nice place to sit out on a sunny day.
I know it's been undergoing works so I'm sure it will be even more stunning on completion.

The Book of Revelations! Amazing approach to worship, with a live band, great singers and inclusive clergy!

I grew up here, I love this park. Alot of places to sit. wild life. autumn is beautiful
S. J.
Great venue had difficulty getting there with the Uber but I don't think that was the churches fault
L. G.
Interesting to view if your in the area. Good choldrens play area near by with water feature.
D.
A lovely little park tucked away within the churchyard. Plenty of trees and grassy areas and a little climbing frame for children to play on. So grab a Costa on Amhurst, head back and relax here.
A. Y.
Some asbos have turned up now, very loud and not peaceful like it used to be.
Just my opinion and thoughts.
K. A.
Lovely garden area with a young kids play area.
E. W.
Beautiful church. Wonderful socially distanced gig to see James Bay. Bar service online and bought to your chair. Easy to get to from Stratford Westfields too!
C. T.
Great venue for gigs, although the beer is rubbish and overpriced.
N. M.
Nice place to relax and let children play, however it's a bit dirty
A. O.
Saw Bear's Den (twice, in a night... I know!) Great venue, safe, drinks delivered to our seats... Great value

Fantastic local greenspace and secret garden play area. Just great to have this on my doorstep. St John's Church is the focus in this tranquil local 'park'.
Often used to chill the park is maintained well and looks great.
B. W.
Fantastic. Went to see Ed sheeran

In a wheelchair the paths of old paving slabs are quite bumpy and uncomfortable. No steps and a useful short cut.

I really like the tower at the entrance. A very small park but you can feel the history of it. I don't think everyone will appreciate the beauty of this park as much as I did. The graveyard gives you a mixed feeling between creepiness and calmness. I can't explain why I loved it so much
B. M.
Attended a local Remembrance Service today, held in front of the War Memorial. Lovely, moving and well organised. Thank you for honouring those who gave their lives for freedom.
S. H.
Popular with dog walkers but can be quite messy particularly in summer with people not taking their rubbish home. It could also do with some gates to stop dogs running out into the path.

Park is beautifully quiet considering it's on a main road. The only down side about it, is the building works that are going on in the background as new homes are being built. If you can stand that, then you can relax here

A part of historical Hackney, though modern architecture is encroaching. Lots of old tombstones, and the old church tower is open to the public at certain times. The main church is having a makeover, so is currently closed. There's a nice coffee shop in the church yard.

Such a delight to find this shady, tree filled park and its walled playground, just right for the very young. Only drawback is the main path past the grass and walled playground is used as a free for all for bikes and pedestrians alike.

St John's church was undergoing a decent refurbishment, and was actually looking pretty good within limitation of budget. There are some nice touches in the design.
