We visited the Thai Festival which was held here. Had a good walk around the park which was being used by plenty of people with children. Seemed like a good place to visit again.

This park is incredibly beautiful 😍 the lake is amazing. Everything is so green. There's a church and they play football there as well.
A. I.
It is huge and beautiful park , play area for toddlers and lake makes it a good place to visit, only reason for giving 3 stars is the amount of rubbish i saw there, ( needs a good clean 😅)
S. R.
Greenery everywhere. I spent 3 hours bird watching and feeling the calmness of the place. Had a beautiful experience.
N. T.
Absolutely stunning and spectacular park. Lovely and spacious for being about a 10 minute drive from the city centre. Plenty of outdoors facilities from a BMX track to skateboard park to tennis courts and a children's playground. beautiful lake found in the middle too, as well as the quaint little market garden. There are toilets however they are not (as far as I am aware) accessable to the public. This park is perfect for a walk at any time of the day - I would recommend sunset the most though.
A. W.
Lovely Park for walking, riding and in our case Go-Karting.
Lots of Green and pleasant flora & fauna slightly spoilt by bits of petty vandalism and litter. A sign of the time and a true shame
K. A.
Brilliant day at platt fields park been here in so many years ago still really good and clean.
Top place
A. R.
Went for the thai festival..food was amazing a little on the pricey side, but was as you'd expect excellent..Good entertainment all round.
K. D.
Sometimes a little dirty but overall a lovely place for a stroll. Watching ducks and geese swimming is an additional delight. But if you want to feed them please don't just bring bread, do look at some other options such as birdseed, sweetcorn, or peas. They will be a little more hesitant to eat it but it's much better for their health! Especially given the amount of bread they get fed on the daily already.
M. A.
Perfect park to walk and have fun with your family 👍🏻
D.
Lovely park near the heart of the city. Two enclosed play areas for younger kids. Nice foot path for a walk along the pond area. Easy parking and accessible from different gates.

Manchester Mega mela 2022

Nice refreshing park, lush green lawns, walking track, hillside lake views, sitting area along the lake, sports area, parking.
J. d.
Very beautiful park, tall trees, boats, amazing
R. P.
Beautiful lake and parkland (used as a great venue for many celebrations). As many others have noted: loads of geese, ducks and moorhens, a few herons and some green parakeets.
o. e. I.
Nice beautiful park for families to have a picnic walk. Also a great place for kids and adults to experience skate boarding. Locals should avoid feeding birds as this constitute environmental hazards and this may also attract rats to this beautiful park.
S. T.
A beautiful park, love the river!!
S. m.
Lovely park with lots of activities
S. ..
Eid prayers in the park was the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in my life
A. K.
A superb park. An oasis in the from the hustle & bustle of a busy city. Great open green spaces, trees and and a large pond with ducks & geese. A fantastic place to have a walk, jog or bike ride. Or take your Dogs for a walk & run around
A great place for a picnic with friends and family. Especially on top of the hill by the Lake.
It has Children's play areas with an ice cream van nearby to treat your kids
For the more sporty visitors it has Tennis court,s, Basketball court, BMX track and skate park.
Another highlight in the park is Platt Hall which is located in the North East corner of the park, Platt Hall is home to the Manchester Art Galleries Gallery of Costume. It houses an important collection of costumes and started refurbishment in March 2009 - it is due to re-open in April 2010. Built of brick in 1762-64 it is an interesting building in its own right.
It is a lovely Park well worth visiting and enjoying in peace
P. I. P.
A small beautiful park with woods, its a planned park with four square sectors having variety of plants and flowers.
J. D.
A great place for a run or a walk. It has a lake with ducks and swans. It also has a football, basket and tennis court, skatepark, a garden and some hidden spots I found interesting to explore. It's a bit dirty however never felt treatened there and it's lovely in a sunny day.
A. B.
Ideal for walking, running and/or chill. Easy and quiet place. I usually go for a walk because it is a really peaceful place. There are lots of squirrels, I find them cute.
J. S.
My childhood park, many happy memories, beautiful lake and wide open spaces and the fun fair still brings a little bit of excitement when it visits the park. A wild and wonderful park. Not much has changed apart from Pets Corner now long gone.
M. S.
Lovely park for a walk with dogs and/or children. Plenty of benches, picnic benches and bins. Lots of facilities - a couple of play areas for younger children, skate and bmx parks, basket ball, football and tennis courts. Lovely lake with lots of different birds to see. Car park isn't massive but does have a couple of disabled spaces. All paths are well maintained and pram and wheelchair friendly. There are well equipped toilets but they are not the cleanest despite signs saying they are cleaned daily! No cafe but there was an ice cream van there - was quite expensive though.
s. a.
I enjoy walking in the park
S. J.
Nice park but needs alot lights so that people can even come after 4 to spend the time safely and it would be nice if it is open till 6
d. s.
I've seen a vast improvement within the park these past few visits. Especially the Shakespeare gardens. Well done to "The friends of Platt Fields"
K. F.
One of my favorites for running...
M. M.
Nice children friendly park
R. A.
A good place to go for a running, a relaxing walk or with kids to see the "pretty" birds in the pond (water is dirty, plastic bits left carelessly by irresponsible people). It needs some cleaning and maintenance as there are places which could do with a bit of care. Maybe local community could help a bit here.
p. s.
...it was busy, but we did the VR dinosaur hunt round the lake, and had a mooch near the brook....its a proper park Platt Fields,I hope it lives and breathes for us forever.
D. S.
This is a beautiful park nearby my son's dorm in Fallowfield. Lots of pathways, a nice playground for the little ones, and of course the lovely lake. We visited on a beautiful sunny day and enjoyed an ice cream. It's nice to find such a lovely place to enjoy the outdoors in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the City.
J. A. A.
Just loved this place! Such a relief from stress both on and off studies. Luck that we live near to this place (about 0.4 miles from our home). Never gets bored going to this place. Very neatly maintained by the trust. Highly recommended for an evening visit with beloved ones.
N. S.
nice little park with good playground for the little ones. good for walking and relaxing
d. J.
Very good park for walk, running, cycling etc. Also there is cycle repair shop facility available. Also kids playing area,BMX track, skating track, basketball and tennis court facility is there. The lake is a very attractive scene in that park. Good for spending morning and evening time.
B. S. B.
Ever so charming. Have been visiting since my son was 9. He is 22 now, and Platt Fields Park is still so beautiful in its changing seasonal attires. Yesterday s visit was just to take some pictures of the ephemeral cherry blossoms, the ethereal pink blooms, before the doomed rains arrive in 'sunny' Manchester.

Beautiful Sunrise 1st November 2022
S. J.
Work out every week in this park. It's a wonderful environment to workout in. Or if you want to simply take in the vistas. It's an overall wonderful, city centre park.
J. D.
Nice clean park. Plenty to do. Nice views. Good for the kids or working out etc.
R. A.
Nice walk. A lovely park with a variety of walks. Lots of activities. Good park for dogs. A fenced area for dogs to play in.
a. i.
Very calm and big park. Has lots of ducks and squarels. Nice for jogging and barbecue
j. m.
Wonderful place with Stunning view. Have more space for walking and for passing good time..
S.
Pleasant wide open space, playgrounds, pond, toilets, ice cream van, BMX track, skateboard area, and today even a small fun fair. Everything you can wish for in a park in a big city.
T. W.
Pleasant park. Can't feed the ducks/geese at the water is getting contaminated but apparently you can fish... anyway clean enough with hills.
W. I.
Not the nicest of parks as quite dirty in parts. Large parts were unkept and not maintained well. The lake is a nice touch but other than that, there are many other better parks
j. R.

Big,nice
Has a beautiful pool
M. A.
So beautiful, big and satisfying park .. dont forget your umbrella because no place to hide from rain.
Cant feed the ducks at the moment. The most interesting about this park is the sports features. There is a track for cycling, kids play area and more playgrounds
D.
Loads of swans and ducks...Great for walks with the family but I rode through briefly and I am sure there is more to discover 😀
A. “. K.
If you're looking for a walk after a great meal at the curry mile, this is the place to go. Feed the ducks, go for a stroll or even lie down on the grass... An open space for an even more open imagination!
M. P. E.
I went there to do Eid prayer together with colleagues and friends. The park was clean, beautiful and nice.
A. ع. ا.
Nice place for kids and families
A. D.
My stand in back garden. I don't have any outside space so it's lovely to have this park near by. Great for a stroll around the lake- the new cygnets are a highlight in spring-or to take a book and sit in the Shakespearian gardens or one of the many other quiter green spaces. If your feeling more energetic there are various sports courts and a skate park available. There's also a children's play area and a community garden, and space for car parking. And most days you'll find an ice cream van at the lake side. Also keep an eye out for any events going on throughout the year, such as a Thai festival and bonfire night fireworks display.
i. o.
Good range of activities, basketball court, BMX track, playground for small children.
S.
I've been coming here since I was a child. Lovely park.

Spent many a happy time at this Park in my Childhood and Youthhood..remember the Children's Christian Crusade and the fun fair in the early 70s...happy days...especially remember this statue of Abraham Lincoln...and this building.
S. W.
Thoroughly enjoyed the the Magic of Thailand it was lovely catching up with friends from back in the day also making new friends
I would like to thank everyone who made the experience very special for many
J. L.
Platt Fields Park has a great range of facilities and habitats, water birds, thrushes & ring-necked parakeets
D. E.
On a good day, Platt Fields is my go to spot to soak up the sun. The best view that gives a glimpse of the Manchester city centre is at the top of the small hill opposite the pond/lake. The park is also home to a decent sized skate park, bmx area and other various sports.
My only dislike is that the paths aren't as clean as you'd think, just because mother nature isn't as forgiving when it comes to strolling through the wild life, as ducks and geese surround the area.
Still, a cute place to peruse with some bright art and easy to climb trees.
J. B.
One of our favourite parks. It has 2 playgrounds, one for younger children and the other for older one. Has a small lake, where you can go bird watching with kids, and not only. Also has restroom and changing facilities. Has another area for adults and older children to play tennis, skating, bmx track. Overall is a good place
J. W.
Today, Sunday 21st July 2019, is the second day of the annual Manchester Mega Mela, a South Asian festival in the park with music, food, clothes stalls, and fairground rides. A great day out for the family, but bring enough cash if you want to try more than a couple of the rides. Not far from Rusholme's curry mile if you wish to sit down for a meal afterwards.
T. D.
It's a good park, for a walk with the family, and for the kids to play too.
Visit, like we did, on April 20th and you'll be in for a fun surprise, as the locals celebrate 420 with a herbal party everyone seems welcome to!
H. M.
A love shaped lake, massive field, tennis courts, little botanical garden, 2 playground, parking - what else you need 😊
k. s.
It's tremendous very pleasant and peaceful calm ,we can enjoy the nature
J. M.

Lush green grass everywhere 👌😍😋. I enjoyed a lot .
M. R.
Good for everything, they have baby ducks and ice cream. What else do you need.
W.
Platt Fields Park is one of the most parks I like to visit all seasons around the year.
K. D.
This is a lovely big park in South Manchester, only a couple of miles from the city centre. It has play areas, big open fields, a lake with ducks and geese and some gardens and planted areas. Funfairs, bonfires, community events and festivals.
A. F.
Love the space. Staff is friendly. Very neat and clean space.
S. J. S.
Decent area for walking and running
A. A.
It's nice place for a walk in park, much smaller than the Alexander park too.
L. A.
Beautiful day out
A. M.
Greatest park in South Manchester. You'll find a island in a lake with swans and ducks, bmx&skate park, blackberries and sun☀

Nice place for a family picnic.
W. W.
Lovely duck pond and gardens/areas around park to visit. Makes for a lovely ling wall close to city centre. A gem in Moss side/rusholme.
H. A.

N.
Very large park with various landscapes such as a skate park, a hill, a lake, woods and fields. Fairly busy at certain times and can get a bit rough at night. Nice place to relax and clear your head.
S. a. Y. R.
Visited for the parkrun, very disappointed to find the toilets not open as we'd travelled over an hour to reach the park.
A. S.
My local park and its beautiful. Friendly faces walk and jog every day.
T. M.
Park is very big
D. M.
Nice place ,water needs a clean ,overall very nice walk on a sunday
M. O.
Nice park with lovely market garden, and good play area, places to sports e.g. play tennis, football and basketball, skate park and bike track; wished they still had the pet corner that was good for children.
The tarmac area around the lake could do with being cleaned regularly and students need to take their rubbish home with them
A. N.
Nice quiet scenery. Punch of birds with beautiful bird calls.
P. P.
A large local park with a boating lake and various events (there's just been a Thai Festival). Well used by a diverse population.
K. A.
Nice park I liked
N. M.
It was nice to see the park so busy.
as it used to be many years ago.
Unfortunately, all the bins were overflowing with rubbish and mire seen to strewn around the park.
The lake probably hasn't been cleaned in decades, which was a shame. I remember when there used to be row boats available to hire, but alas not anymore. The park felt safe and vibrant, it was a lovely sight to see it so busy, more so with students than families.
A. S.
A huge recreational Park with a pond, a playing area for kids and some benches. Perfect for a picnic on a clear day. Located within the city, it offers a welcome respite after the days work. Pet friendly too
A. D.
Beautiful park with a big lake, two playgrounds, and sport fields.
P. S.
Had a walk round the park as it was nice to have a stroll with the nice weather, not many people about when we went. At least it looked clean & tidy for a change! Lovely to see a few nice swans 🦢🦢🦢🦢🦆🦆🦆& ducks swimming in the lake. Tho the lake in places still could deal with a bit of a clean up!!
S. K.
Lovely large park. Amazing all year round. Miss the beautiful tulip display they used to have in the fountain.
S. M.
It has two tennis courts and skating ground, basketball, football. Lots of space. Beautiful surroundings.
I. P.
One of my favourite places in Manchester, often have a big walk from the city centre just to take it all in. There's not a great deal of green space in the city but this is one of the best
N. N.
Lovely park with a large lake. Suitable for families with small children as well. The park has two playgrounds. The park can be busy during weekends/bank holidays. It has a free car park with limited spaces.
***Please ensure that all litter go to the bin. Thanks***
L. M.
Good place to chill out and watch the urban wildlife
W. M.
Lovely park. Love the big pond, loads of ducks, swans and birds.
M. P.
It's a great place, its not huge but there are lots of different ways to get around it. There are large grass areas and fields around the inner perimeters large enough for your kids to play games on or maybe even a picnic or a spot of sunbathing weather permitting. There is also a large pond to walk around and lots of seated benches dotted around. If you like trees there are some wooded areas and if you want privacy there are a few small secluded parts and there are some nice gardens to sit in as well. If that was not enough there's a children's play area and some courts to play sports in. All throughout the spring and summer there's festival days and even a circus turns up. It does everything you want and some more. Great park all the year round... Updated May 2022 the last time I was here I didn't realize that there is a market garden here which is definitely worth a visit and there's a place where you can get bike's fixed as well. Apart from that it's not really changed a lot but this time the weather was a lot better and everything is in Spring mode.
l. s.
Lovely park, just short of a little TLC.
D. B. F.
Amazing park with natural eco system for wild birds. Lovely.
K. S.
Beautiful park for walk or picnics also very good just to chill out some times they have a fair on there aswell
A. J.
Awesome place for Morning/evening walk.
s. a.
Wonder full place for Eid Gathering 2022
A. R.
This park has place for everything. Children, birds, football , a walk and to cycle.
S.
Beautiful park. Go here regularly.
A.
Best place to go to on a sunny day, I go here with my family and have barbeques on the big hills, it's very big and there's lots of ducks and swans. In the spring there are many cherry blossoms. There are two children's play area depending on age range and skate and racing track too. The park is very big so there's so much to do. However I would not recommend going on a cloudy or rainy day as there is a lake so it will cause the atmosphere to look more grey, and makes the experience less exciting. Overall, a top place to go with families or by yourself on a sunny day.
b.
It was a great experience. Everyone as respectful and the weather was great. Recommend this for a family outing
K.
Brilliant park. Great for giving the dog a good run and myself. It's got a lovely church at the side of it. You can have a walk around the lake. You can't beat getting some fresh air on a nice summer's day. You have Platt Lane complex at the side of it for anyone who fancies playing football or going to the gym. The park is a great day out for everyone. Enjoy and clean your mess afterwards please.
p. s.

P. H.
Great breakfast,good family run business!

Nice to relax run and more, sometimes crowded
D. M. X.
Such an awesome place you can find so much of swans, doves, and squirrels. You can find a pond, a calm open area to relax, beautiful flowers, good roads for joggers. Make sure you are taking some good ear coverings during the winter.
p. h.
It's changed a lot since I was a kid, i took my 6yr old son to the skate park about 7pm and it was busier than i thought it was going to be but that turned out to be a good thing everyone was enjoying themselves and their was a good atmosphere my son loved it
A. B.
Very nice park, great for a walk/run and also to go with family for a barbecue or just chill around. Toilets are available although quite dirty. The park gets very busy in the summer as its a great place to sunbath/relax.
There is a lake as well as fun fair for kids.
J. G. G.
Lovely park to exercise, read a book, chat with friends
S. L. M.
Beautiful nature spot in the city.
A. B.
Open area, it was very nice day for children and family. Children can playing and watching the duck on the pool.
Z. A.
Quite a big park with a big pond in it which is a good attraction. Toilet facility available too. Bins are placed along the tracks for disposing of rubbish properly. Sometimes gets too congested but generally a good place for your walk or spending a family day out with picnic or even you can do your own BBQ there.
H. M.
One of Manchesters Great Victorian Parks. A breath of fresh air in the middle of a busy city with a beautiful lake and lots of swan's! Kids play areas with the usual swings and stuff. Market garden with stalls selling coffee, cakes. Lots of events taken place here so check local papers. Toilets and Parking!.. Sorted. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍
F. S.
Love this Park. Lots of lovely areas to sit and relax and a huge duck pond too.
Plus it's not too far from a few really cool bars. ..on a sunny afternoon it's a great place to be.
A. P.
Great park, lots of open space and play facilities
R. A.
Beautiful green place, gorgeous lake with an Island in the middle; watching the geese and swans is therapeutic. And the lake is great for riding or walking around. Loved the boat rides on sunny days, the ice cream van and the kids play area.
There are also a few spots where you can picnic under the trees, on the tables or on tree stumps.
A very nice all-in-one day out.
A. R.
Love the park, green Lush park and fresh air...
b. a.
Lovely walk and the scene is amazing however don't forget to wear a mask!!!
A. A.
Good for a day out. Long tracks to walk or have a bike ride. Loads of grass area to chil or play. Loads of benches along the walking tracks.
Beautiful big pond with hundreds of ducks.
c. p.
Really nice park. Wether you wnat to go for a run, bike ride, walk, skate, picnics with bbq, take the kids out or walk the dog, this park is perfect. It has everything and is also very close to big sainsbury across from a Mc Donald's, pubs. From time to time you can find fare park with really good prices for rides, for a little fun. Enough space to sit on grass, play games.
Skating area, bmx track, even a ping ping table, basketball, you name it. Take advantage of a sunny day to explore it and see what you think 🙌🏼
Z. A.
Few dog walkers
Friendly people around
Kids area is nice and they have a variety of sports areas like the courts. The skateboard area and even a spot for bmxing
D. T.
Spent evening there on festival of Manchester day , loved it
D. F.
Great, well maintained, large relaxing expanse just outside the ridiculous hurly burly of Rusholme! Several places to attract the more cerebral person - good luck viewing the medieval arch though. Lovely lake with refreshments available in the pavilion and permanent ice cream van.
M. I. M. F.
Nice park to enjoy the moment with your family @ partner.
F. F.
Good place to visit, plenty of walking and running around for kids
R. B.
Great place and definitely will be much better without lockdown, but why the deep lake is level with the path without any railing while children are playing around and me not knowing how to swim. Common sense?
J. C.
Loved it! Went down for 4/20 and had a great time!
A. E.
A super cool place to chill out and eat
E. R.
Great place to hang with friends, no public loos which is a problem if youre gonna be there all day or with kids but other than that it's great. Theres a boating lake, huge outdoor spaces, skate park and of course the gorgeous plattfields market garden which if you haven't visited yet you must.
M. J. L.
Excellent place to walk relax and free your mind.
M. K.
Nice and big Park with a lake there. Over the school holidays they will have fun fairs at the park and rides available for children to sit on as well as other fairground activities. Sometimes there will also be rides for adults, however not many.
Parking was not an issue when I went. Found plenty of parking near the entrance.
V. I. M.
In Platt Field Park the Thai community holds the annual Thai feasible. This year was the 3rd time and the organizers have been lucky so far with Manchester weather every time.
A good day to see Thai culture dance music, Thai products, hair and massage treatment, and a lot of stalls of them. Then the main in the event is the Thai food with plenty stalls of restaurants that came from all over the UK
N. F.
Wonderful park. More bins and formal seating to eat picnic and lunch would be nice.
R. S.
Great for walks dogs and the boating lake, Toilests ok and Got BMX BIKE jump ramp space (currently closed) and Basketball court. However the play area is outdated and only for small kids. They need to update it to like what Heaton park have done which is the best.
However is very busy with a mix of real people from all walks of life, no signs of trouble very family orientated and lots of space. Good parking but whenbusy hard to get space. However you can park outside and not too far from takeaways.
K. L.
Really nice park great for a walk, no lighting at night though. Free huge bonfire display worth heading down for. Small amount of parking, (~30 spots), super tidy and well kept.
J. M.
Shame it is dirty at places. People keep littering it's really bad.
U. G.
Green, cool place, where you can spend hours. Choice of woods, greens, and green-near-water spaces. Excellent duck pond. Children's play area.

It was great to visit this park again, not far from where my life began. Still the huge expanse of fields and lake, where we'd take out a rowing boat in years gone by, and visit the cafe after. It was a good day out, summer days spent there as a child, not far from grans. Happy memories. Fast forward to 2021 and alas the rowing boats have gone, no more shouts of "come in number 21, your time is up!" Recollections of having to rediscover the art of rowing each time..it was so good though, to be out on the lake, well worth ten bob, of anyone's money.
I'd encourage you new students to Manchester, and those from abroad, that have not visited this historic Manchester park, in the heart of the student campus, to go and gave a look. There is a cafe there, closed at the moment because of Covid-19. But just at the back of there, past the children's playground, there is a community cooperative ran by volunteers and part of an organisation called "Urban Diggers," where you can purchase organic food grown on site, and sit out there with a huge cable drum as a table. We were too late to eat but promised ourselves to return there, open I believe most days and week ends. Why not have a post meal stroll around the lake, which is about three quarters of a mile. Stop for a sit along the way and watch the ducks and swans out on the lake. Happy days, have fun!
K. A.
Nice time spent today.
Lovely for grills/BBQs and tk stay with friends. Amazing for walks as well and to practice sport, especially tennis and jogging. The pitches are wonderful and seeing baby swans is a rare but awesome view.
D. B.
I had been three days in Manchester. My guest house was across the road. Every day I got the bus at the Platt Fields Park. Went in a day. It is a nice park with a large lawns.
M. B.
Lovely park, surprised though with the size of it there's no cafe. There used to be years ago serving hot drinks and toast and sandwiches. Why did it close?. Wythenshawe and Alexandra park have cafés.
E. P.
Good place for a short picnic with family
A. A.
Very beautiful park 💕💕💕
S. L.
I like this place. Big lake. Swans, more hens, geese. There is also a skateboard park, basketball court, tennis courts, not looked after, but playable though. They have a allotment selling veg, fruit.
You can hire a bike? But dont quote me on dat I think they might fix em? Nice big space. Plenty going on. I find sunday the busiest, afternoon usually. Nice mix of people that go there. Also it has a nice old,now saddle boarded up but still can see the structure, waterside caffe. You can imagine people sitting there sipping tea. Eating small sandwiches watching people on the lake, they used to hire boats years ago.
All in all nice walk. And I'm not going to tell you. But it's got a very unusual surprise. If you like birds. Nope I've said enough. But if you do find out let me know.
T. F.
Don't want to be too bias as I frequent this place often but it's a lovely park. The feel of pre-covid times is reminiscent when it's warm and students and families alike come to play sport or go for a stroll by the pond. Could do with some sheltering for when the weather is as miserable as it is in Manchester (so, always), but otherwise a great place to go for a walk, run or catch-up with geese.
A. S.
Large open spaces, established trees, lake wit ducks and geese, friendly people, good place to walk your dog. Gardens need time and money spending on them, other than just volunteers. Then it would be lovely.
D. J.
I've been a few times and it has always been quite busy. It's a nice park. Mostly litter free. Plenty of water birds on the lake.
T. G.
Lovely park, can be very lively (especially during the summer months) would definitely recommend for a family day out as there is a children's play area and an older kids play area. There are also a bmx track and a skate park too. As well as a large lake. However I would be careful with small children around the lake as there are no railings protecting people from falling into the water. There are toilets that are near these areas too and usually a ice cream truck on the hotter days too.
D. O.
A great outdoor experience. Walking jogging, family and pet friendly. Scenery is enjoyable as well.
J. Z.
So many events go on in this park, it's great. Nice to walk around the park's pond (lots of ducks, geese and herons), tennis courts, BMX tracks, 2 kids play areas, handy bike repair shop, orchard, a mini garden canned Shakespeare's garden and plenty of space for picnics on a nice day! Great park!
D. W.
It was great with lovely gardens flowers cafe ect, cuts have taken their toll.
Skate park mind, that ain't bad. Lot more scruffy and unkempt.
Shame.
L. S.
Went to fair which was great. Had not been to here since I was a teenager it's change alot but kids loved it
v.
Good for kids playground and ice cream
J. B.
Good places to go with friends on a sunny day/evening, but people need to throw there stuff in the litter
C.
Nice park something for everyone there's usually an ice cream van there
R. G.
Nice place near central manchester- really cute swans
K. E.
Great size for walking my small dog, areas safe to let dog off lead in contained fenced area. There were lots of other friendly dogs, didn't come across any aggressive ones, lovely atmosphere.
Super for families too, play areas for younger children and boating lake in summer.
I used to live locally and go running around the park, feels safe enough, lots of other people there enjoying park also.
S.
The park is large, plenty of space to walk, has a beautiful lake. It has separate play areas for younger and older children. The only thing it needs is a cafe, but the ice cream van is a nice substitute.
S.
Park is nice and beautiful, but the fact that it has no illustration at night or in the evenings it makes it dangerous, not just to women but to everyone else as well
M. H.
Very spacious, with lots of different park attractions: large grassed fields, hill, big lake with a central island, trees, blackberry bushes, gardens, 3 different playgrounds, sports and skateboarding areas, and more... HOWEVER: Not clean, always rubbish here and there, dog and duck litter everywhere (you always have to watch where you step). Furthermore, once it's a bit warm the area around and near the lake would be full of flying bugs of high density.
C. P.
Huge public park. That is decently maintained despite the challenges to the budget cuts... the park is split by a river in the middle and on the other side you will find Ducks a pond and zone for kids to play and also skateboarding set up.
G. D.
Great for a mid length park walk (2+ miles, couple of hours) with quite a few areas to explore
P. M.
Great afternoon out, good food, drink and coffee, and lovley people
m. k.
Fab place, lovely lake, very clean.and spacious
t. m.
Lovely picturesque park close to the heart of Manchester. Does yearly events, along with weekly groups. Has 2 play areas, a large boating lake (although I haven't seen boats on there in a while now) an apple orchard, toilets which are very helpful for families, BMX park, car park and there is normally always an ice cream van by the toilets/play areas
R. R.
Visited this park a lot of times, its so large and easy to find space to sit and relax. It can be hard to find space on the different courts and pitches for activities.
L. A.
Beautiful large ish park.
Very social with lots of mini festivals that have lots of free activities and stalls with interesting things on.
Very nice in the summer.
Can get a bit messy with the students. They really need to learn to take their rubbish with them.
m. h.
Lovely park with tennis courts, BMX ramps, children's play area, bicycle repair area and a large lake and lots of geese, ducks, herons and parakeets. There are also bats that fly around the lake as it gets dark.
S. D. H.
Lovely park. Really well used by the community. Beautifully manicured lawns, fruit trees, a sunken garden and half pipes. Great place for a picnic, especially now as the blossom trees are lightly depositing a gentle and fragrant confetti all around. The toilets could be better kept though. And the students need to pick up their mess and take it with them.
F. M.
Nice friendly area especially on a hot day you can have a picnic. This park has a stake board ramp, bicycle ramp, kids park aswell as a older people park aswell. The lake is amazing on a hot as you can see all the reflection in the water, ducks swimming,
Peaceful area but also has a garden centre and the park has generally has more than 4 entrances which means that you be able to enter the park in any direction.
S. K.
So spacious, green and quiet! Love it!!
P. S.
Nice escape from the city rush. Huge green area with beautifully singing birds
p. “. M. A.
Nice park, friendly atmosphere, very spacious outdoor for everyone to enjoy.....

The centrepiece of the park is a large pleasure lake, which is used for boating and fishing. The lake has an island sanctuary in the middle, as well as a lakeside visitors' centre and a boathouse. The park also contains part of Gore Brook and part of the Nico (Mickle) Ditch.
A panorama of the lake and the central island sanctuary
There are gardens of different kinds, including community orchard gardens, which contain ferns, roses and heathers. There is also an educational garden and an environmental area, as well as Elizabeth II Jubilee gardens and an Eco Arts garden near to the boating lake. There is a Shakespearean garden located in the Ashfield part of the park in the south-east corner that was designed to have only plants mentioned in Shakespeare's works. The Ashfield area also has an arch from the nave of Manchester Cathedral, which was previously located at Manley Hall, Manchester for a time. Ashfield was added to the park at a later date: it was formerly the site of Ashfield House and was donated to the City by Edward Donner.
There is a labyrinth and picnic area, a Veterans' pavilion and a pair of children's playgrounds. One playground is for toddlers up to age 5, with the other for kids up to the age of 9. Both are located near to the Lakeside Centre.[4] Sports facilities include a pair of bowling greens and courts for basketball, five-a-side, roller hockey, tennis, as well as a mini soccer pitch, cycle pathways and a skate park. A new BMX track was completed at the South end of the park in the summer of 2008.
The old boathouse is now the location of Platt Fields Bike Hub, a community project involved in bicycle repairs, bike hire and other cycling-oriented projects activities.
There are three dedicated show fields in the park, which have the infrastructure to host large and small scale national and local events. Events hosted in the park have included the Manchester Mela and Eid Festival, as well as annual fireworks and bonfire displays.[8] Until 2003 the site hosted the Manchester Flower Show. Facilities-wise, the site has a car park with disabled parking and toilets. The site also has a park office.
Over 40 languages are spoken in and among the diverse communities that live around and share the park.
k. k.
Good day out today, went to the fair, and the the boating lake...
R. H.
Very spacious, places to play for kids, birds, hilly walks, lots of fun.
H.
Very large greens area but only 2 tennis courts and 2 basketball courts even though the park is usually very busy, especially on weekends. Decent park
g. c.
Get away from the madness 200mts away and enjoy a walk around the lake. Has kids park tennis bmx/scateboard park, picnic spots. One of my chill out places..
L.
Beautiful only thing need to clean the water

Bonfire Night 2019 fireworks displays
W. T.
Three was an awesome gathering for Eid Ul Adha
R. G.
Love coming here to walk the dog and take my daughter to the play areas.
I. A.
Its a really nice n big park for a walk. Theres a pond with ducks in it.
On 5th Nov, bonfire night - rides - fireworks( FREE ENTRY ). Mostly heavy traffic so better to use public transport.
P. M.
It's a park, not much else to say really! There is a lake with a lot of ducks, geese, swans, coots and morehens, plus the odd heron. Plenty of paths to run on, and field for playing sports. There is also a BMX track and public tennis courts. It often gets closed for various festivals and events.
M. S. J.
Attended asian fair with henna application and asian food collection.
L. B.
Went for OKTOBERFEST and had a great night.
S.
Nice park. And nice looking park with events on. My house mate did walk through there late at night and got mugged so just be careful and be weary. If it is dark and late dont walk on your own or walk the longer route of the road. Be careful
L. M.
Beautiful Park so well kept and always a peaceful place for a stroll or a sit down and watch the world go by ....however on last visit is was absolutkey packed!! Bonfire night Fireworks and a Fair!! Very busy but great Fun ...well Done to the Organisers..as well executed plenty of security ..with bag checks and high visible Police presence ....one little boy got lost and he was quickly removed from the crowd by Police officers and reunited with his Parents ...altogether a great Family night ..but would hate to see the grassland next morning !! Will be visiting again for the Peace and quiet ...but thoroughly enjoyed the Bonfire Night Event ..well done again x
T. V.
A great park to go to with family, they have a nice section where home ed families can integrate and socialise. Great park facilities and a lake with wildlife for a therapeutic vibe
S. A.
This is a lovely park to walk with the family and it is safe during the day. There needs to be more lighting for evening walks.
J. B.
A typical public park with boating lake and plenty of room for football and other games. Even has toilet facilities. Don't go very early or very late as sometimes dodgy characters wandering about.
K. R.
Huge public park. That is decently maintained despite the challenges to the budget cuts... the park is split by a river in the middle and on the other side you will find Ducks a pond and zone for kids to play and also skateboarding set up. Also has tennis court on the other side of the park. Definitely a place you can relax provided the Manchester weather is kind to you.
B. B.
Nice garden in the heart of the city. A hidden sunken garden, a lake full of ducks, cycle track etc. People should stop throwing plastic bottles etc though
l. m.
On a sunny day its a lovely place to be, you can do various activities. Feeding the ducks, kids play areas, skate park/ bmx ramps. On occasion there will be boats to ride around the lake. Alot of the time there is also carnivals, fairs, events on inside the park.
L. T.
The park is large and great for running. There is a lake of a good size and perfect for laps when running, it just under half a mile per lap.
There are plenty events on and the site is good for just a walk. Might be worth avoiding it at night, there are no lights.
A. F.
Fishing lake, free-to-use tennis courts, ducks, geese, squirrels, a path runs around the park so good for joggers. Lovely to walk in the park. Great olace for families and kids.
A. v.
Lovely park. It is fantastic place for family day out. There is so many possibilities in that park . You can play football, basketball, ride bikes ( bmx track park) , skate park, tennis court, playgrounds for little kids, everything surrounded by lake. I wish that Manchester has many more parks like this one.
A. A.
Beautiful park with ample space for walk run or jog. Two enlosed (out door) areas for children's play and also cycling route. Some parking space (access via Wimslow Road). Small lake with ducks. Nice area specially during summer. Some possibility of out door BBQ.
S. G.
Lovely inner-city green space. Large enough for a run or picnic, popular with locals. However one point, I live locally and would not walk through the park at night.
D. B.
The bird are nice, please stop feeding them bread. It's not good for them.
T. B.
Great Park for running and cycling.
Watch your eyes in the early summer evenings as the flying insects gather around the lake. Plenty of bats to spot that time too.
A. H.
Really nice and big park with lots of activities.
A. T.
It's a huge park with a massive pond/lake that ducks, geese and swans swim in also has open playing fields and a house/museum on its grounds nice place to go relax maybe have a BBQ if the weather's right.
Z. L.
Nice and usually quite place, we love it here
M. B.
Love this place. Great kids playground, quad biking, geese, ducks lake, activity hut. Great on a summers day. Lovely costume galary (currently being renovated. Can't wait for it to open again!!
A. L.
The duck pond is lovely and kids enjoyed the park. Fair bit of rubbish around and the grass was long but OK for a picnic if your on the area
A. L.
Fantastic park for jogging and picnics (on the rare day it doesn't rain in Manchester). There is a pond with water fowl in the middle of it. Park is closed at sunset and doesn't have lighting features. Contains some geocaches. Good place for celebrating bonfire night.
A. M.
Large park with separate kids playground, a couple of quieter open spaces hidden from the main path cris-crossing the park. Also has a small water body with bunch of ducks.
Z. E.
Its a must see if you are new in Manchester.
Unlike any other park, this one has a lake full of ducks that come out to play on land, beautiful scenery and it also has a huge bike riding lanes like the MotorX thing, don't forget to bring your helmet ;)
Entry is for free, better to be there before 7 and not on a rainy day.
J. A.
It's always a pleasant walk in Platt Fields come rain or shine, although not in a tornado, and there's plenty of seating around the lake.
D. N.
Huge park great for walking dogs and enjoying the great outdoors. Paths can get flooded often, it is Manchester after all, so take wellies or boots if it rained within the last day. Hosts a huge bonfire near Nov 5th every year, as well as traveling amusement parks during school down time. A great place to relax and unwind when at uni.
P. Š.
Beautiful and big park
A. R.
been going since I was a kid. lovely sunsets at the lake.
H. C.
Lovely Park some people may worry about the area but I've been walking my dogs there for forty years and never had a bad experience. After dark local kids muck about and I have heard of student muggings but they will go around alone after dark brandishing their expensive phones in an inner city area with it's social problems like anywhere else. Sad we live in a world like this.
R. F.
Pleasant place to have a short walk. There is a nice lake to sit by and see the swans. Nice area for cycling and jogging
G. J.
Best thing is the heart shape 💜
J. G.
Good park for families, students and sport practitioners. The skatepark isn't bad and even I am able to enjoy it.
O. F.
I don't go here too often as it's not my local park but they always have big events. The bonfire night is always bigger than the parks in didsbury and they always have events going on here.
I remember playing golf here as a kid a few times and it was a lot of fun.
J. M.
I knew the park as a child but 50 years later it still had surprises for me - a Shakespeare garden s church arch and a ditch built before the middle ages and a market garden and it was a lovely sunny Sumners evening with quiet paths
S. J.
Lovely park with lake full of ducks and geese. There's a great "secret garden" and a bike hub as well. There is also a museum of costume and a BMX track.
L. E.
This is a wonderful park with lots of history. It is a good size, big enough to be spacious with plenty of room for different activities, but not so big that you can't see it all in a couple of hours. It has a nice lake with ducks, mute swans and Canada geese, a BMX and skate park, a competition BMX track, 3 kids play areas, a chill out area where people do barbecues etc and loads of green space. Dogs off lead, drinking alcohol and smoking weed all seem to be tolerated as long as you are not bothering other people. There are regular funfairs and festivals held here which tend to have a friendly atmosphere. Parking is limited but for once this isn't a problem for me because I only live a few minutes away.
S. J.
Great park, only thing letting it down is the gross toilets and the fact that the toilets close at 3 or 4pm. Means you have a 15 minute walk to McDonalds if your desperate.
Skate park could also do with improvement.
P. R.
Excellent park after the Curry Mile. Varied areas including a wonderful lake you can walk around. Great place to play some outdoor games or just have a walk. Superb picnic location.
A. T.
Went there for the manchester Festival. Amazing lush green & great wide spread setup.
D. B.
Pram safe, areas tidy and has public toilets. Lots of routes to take :)
P.
Fabulous green space with boating lake
M. T.
Great park to get some fresh air
J. B.
Excellent park to visit
M. G.
The park is clean enough, the BMX track and skate park are good if that's what you like. The children's play areas are lacking though. They both seem to be catering for under 5s, meaning children 7-10 don't really have anything provided if they don't skate or BMX. Still, plenty of room to bring your own frisbee/bat & ball I guess.
S. b.
Absolutely great the show on the water was great to but I think that they could of put the ride expenses down. The rides were £2.50 to £5 each apart from that it was great definitely will go again.
M. O.
My mate fell off a raft and immediately started drowning. So I told him to stand up, so he did, being as it's only 3ft deep! Great fun. Well worth a visit ha ha
L. F.
I love to walk thru Platter Fields Park on quiet, sunny days and just enjoy the peace. There's also the Museum, it's very interesting and a must see if you are into Textiles or Fashion course.
J. O.
Nice park for the dogs to run around in. Shame they can't use the pond.
M. A.
Very nice park you should visit 🌹👍
R. J.
What a tranquil and peaceful place!! I came across many ducks on the road and there were so cute. Such a nice place to jog along side the lake.
W. R. S.
It is really a big park which is good but roads in the park are not good for infant babies specially in pram, I think there should be lighting in night time as well.
C. T.
Beautiful park, only issue is sometimes around the pond you struggle to find a piece of clean pavement to put your foot on as it’s entirely covered in birds’ dirt.
A. M.
Very Good park with lots of green grass, good playing area and picnic spots, also toilets are available too. Close to Rusholme so good if you want to grab a bite later.
M. J.
Great for walks! Has a beautiful lake and all.
S. Y.
Known for its mega Mela which takes place every year this park is a great asset to it's local community ... located next to the famous curry miles it boasts alot of green space and a kids activity area which makes it a sure winner ... park is easily accessible by both public and private transport
T. G.
Nice and big park with beautiful lake inside, many occasions and funfairs going on here.
Children playground needs more improvement.
J. L.
The general clean and tidy appearance of this oasis in the city was such an improvement on our previous ,long time ago, visit and the boating lake with its water airing system is now a wild life haven, well done Manchester and especially the volunteers
Π. Μ.
Very beautiful place Nice place for walking relaxed and for photos
S. A.
i am speechless ....
just AMAZING ...RIGHT PLACE TO CHEEL OUT
K. “. L.
There is a boating lake, with Ducks and Geese residing in it. A Basket Ball Court, Skateboard Park and a BMX Track, plenty for the whole family and various events during the summer months The Gallery of Costume is also situated here. A truly fantastic facility.
M. H.
Fantastic big park with a lake. Children's area and somewhere to grab a snack. Also has tennis courts.
M. M.
Nice park
D. H.
Lots of sports activities. The large running group had stuards keeping them all together and cheering them on. Areas around the park that need filling in as they are trip hazards and water will gather making large areas of the park impassable with winter on its way
k. e. h.
The only downside was that the place needed a good clean up. There was a lot of rubbish around which was sad in away as it's a lovely park with the large pond and ducks. The children's playground was very good however I missed the toddler playground for my 2year old which was kept separate from the bigger one. The scate/scooter park was large and not busy at all which meant my 4 year old and his 6yr old cousin could have a good time. Everyone was on their best behaviour, there weren't any gangs of lads to make us feel threatened like Edgeley Scooter park. I'd go to platts fields park again. 😉😊
C. P.
Nice park near city centre, weather was good and park was crowded.
W. C.
Bit shabby these days. The lake is good for a walk but the gardens are poor. The Shakespeare garden is worth seeking out but it's getting run down.
B. c. (.
Great place. clean, tidy and safe. Ample space for your child to run around in. free parking just outside of the park too.
0. J. F.
very large area, great views, nice lake. can jog by the side of lake. lots of ducks and birds...great natural view and fresh air
D. M.
This parl is gorgeous but for safety reasons i dont take the kids too often because the os no bars around the water. Not long ago somebody drowned there. The council need to get bars around all the edge of the water.

Big park good area for family
L. O.
Lovely park that has been running a parkrun for many years every Saturday morning. Lake is pretty with ducks and geese as residents.
S. C.
Great Park and Lake!
P. B.
Great playground for little ones (ours is 2), community garden, BMX track, little lake with swans. Facilities a bit dated but not an issue.

Nice park suitable for family

Big park with a big pond, ideal for picnics and maybe one of the best parks in manny
K. G. (.
This was my first visit to Platt Fields park for the Magic of Thailand Festival and I was really impressed! It's a really big park.and great on its own to.vome.from a nice walk, take the kids or even to go out running. Parking was fine and noticed the tram stop was close too. Worth a visit if you're around Fallowfield especially when events are on
x.
Best park, very big
A. F.
You can expect a lot of cheap fun fairs that are amazing here. Completely recommend this park to a nature-lover or a family that’s trying to escape mobile phones and being on the internet all day.
S. P.
Big calm park..

Its ok has bmx track and play area.

You have to check out the veg garden and the coffee shop there.. My nephew loves the banana cake and he's only 3.

Its an amazing park with every thing you need such as a cycling area tennis or basketball area picnic area childrens play area (toilets) and a very big lake full of beautiful swans and ducks with various colours!! Its awesome!!....trust me!

I really enjoyed the theatre. Performance here yesterday, it's a lovely park. My grandparents did there courting there, which makes it feel a little more special
M. B.
Its a nice park to take your early morning walks. There's plenty of seating around the park, there's a large pond with ducks.
L. K.
Although it wasnt the best of weather my daughter and i had a great day. It was wonderful to listen to a wide variety of manchester talent at 63 i am never to old to rock. There was absolutely something for everyone and prices were very reasonable for food etc. What can i say about northern people so so friendly as always , the 5 minute firework display was excellent. There was only one downside not everyone had torches etc to see there way out, the path was very dark when we got to the gate 3 security men were stood together shining torches maybe it would have helped they were spread out a little, for some people were there is blame tere is a claim . All in all the 1 hour drive there and back was worth it well done manchester
Z. A.
Nice park for recreational activities.
R. M.
Great park with parking and loos.
K. s.
I visited platt fields park to visit the bike shack which looks upon the lake, the park is a great walking experience though you might find it difficult if your somewhat bursting to use the toilet ( I could not find any ) so had to rush into the nearest public house.
S. R.
Brilliant Thai festival with lovely food, people and weather
M. L.
Manchester City Council should be ashamed of themselves letting a wonderful Park like this go downhill year after year since the 1970's.
The nucleus of this place for every kid that knew it was the boating lake, there was that many boats on the water it was one way round to avoid bulbs, there used to be a miniature farm for the kids, bowling greens for the old vets, rose gardens, Shakespearean gardens all gone, and i know, i used to work there, it's heart breaking.
G. C.
Best park for a students looking to chill out. Ice cream van usually on site during summer
a. b.
Great city park. Great for skateboard and BMX track. Lots of wild birds on the lake. Also great project Platt Fields bicycle hub.
A. A.
Great place for the kids lovely view of the geese, ducks and swans and we have been lucky enough to see the herons but no parakeet yet the children's park is also great and spacious

Good place to be, safe for kids to play around whilst parents sits on lovely designed benches.
Worth a visit with plenty parking spaces

Great Park on the edge of the city, you can easily spend a full day here

11/10. Not because the park is special (it's just perfectly fine) but because our friend got engaged there, and I don't know what to say other than that it was just bloody wonderful.
M. C.
A week a go I saw a group of men with small ships disturbing the swans and ducks only because fanny. It was disgraceful. Sadly there were children watching it.

Beautiful ,well maintained park.Shakespearean gardens are a pleasure to our eyes.We must visit this park atleast once in our lifetime.

Great environment best to visit in the morning to avoid crowds. Has park, lake, toilets and ice cream van
J. W.
Always a nice park to go to. Love the hill to watch sunsets. Just wish it was kept cleaner by people using it.
I. M.
A decent public park for the kids. There's few other options available like the lake, football area , tennins etc. Not very clean, dog litter everywhere. Toilet facilities available which a plus.
i. m.
Nice big park, it has a lake, lots of fields, tennis court, basketball, football, BMX track, skateboarding area, ping pong table.. love it!

Slow Asian Mela weekend Saturday to start with but as the clouds cleared the sun came out, and the place got busier. Good musical day in the park!!

Fab day at Plattfields Park for the Envirolution event. Was great to see so many families, happy people, children and dogs. Foody extravaganza, dancing, icecream, cycling, gong bath, Yoga, Reiki, Emerge Recycling and much more. The event has been going 10 years but first time I've been, loved it.
M. H.
Lovely local park, highlight is the lake with parakeets in the trees, and bats in the summer. Frequently events on, and great for a picnic.

They should open the cafe again so people can have a snack and pot of tea, also the lack of public toilets is terrible for a park that size and the ones that are there close cat 5.00.?
N. S.
Really nice park. Lovely little lake. Would be even better if it had a cafe I think.
M. D. S.
Great park for family or for a walk or jog. It has a nice lake too to feed the birds
M. J.
It's a huge park with many different sections like a cycling mountain like path and a cycle rental, basketball ground, a lake and all this is just one of the sides that I was on... have to still explore this park

A beautiful park, every bit as lovely as I remembered from my childhood. Needs a cafe and some decent toilets.
N. H.
Great costumes on display super location - the only problem was on our visit there were a number of areas left vacant in the house as we visited between exhibitions - oops - where was Mr Lincoln's statue? in Brazennose Square in the centre of Manchester not outside Platt Hall as I remember as a child! Sad isn't it part.of this areas history moved and gone forever!
K. M.
Very good park. Lovely to walk with Lake and great scenery.
N. S.

S. A.
Not bad park but still need lots and lots of improvement, also it's need really clean and add a multi place for toilets and more activity for children
E. K.
Lovely park. Constantly ruined by events that block or local residents and don't clean up after themselves then turn the grass areas into a swamp. Otherwise beautiful.

Welcome to the Friends of Platt Fields Park
The park was first opened in 1910, and the Friends group was established in 1997, so there is much of interest to see. Please contact us, to give us your thoughts on what we are doing - feel free to criticise as well as praise - all feedback is welcome. We would especially like to hear your suggestions as to how the park might be improved.
WHO ARE WE?
We are a voluntary organisation and a registered charity (No 1086533)
We are always keen to increase our membership as this puts valuable funds into the kitty to improve the park.
Our activities are co-ordinated by a voluntary Committee, which is elected by the public every year. The Committee meets on the 3rd Sunday of each month to discuss funding and improvements to the park.
WHAT DO WE DO?
We have many different projects on the go all the time, some short-term, and some more ambitious and long-term; most of these require us to raise funds from outside sources to match any money available from Manchester City Council.
Members of the Friends have initiated, encouraged and been engaged with countless events and activities in the Park. We actively encourage cross-cultural events and projects hosted by local communities and other organisations; much of our inspiration arises from the strong belief in the accessibility of 'parks for everyone'.
We produce a regular Newsletter, 4 times a year, which is sent out to over 200 different bodies and individuals.
We aim to hold 4 'Open Meetings' a year (usually in January, April, July and October) to advise the public of our plans and to give them the chance to voice their opinions. Everyone is invited to attend, members and enthusiasts alike. These meetings are advertised on our Web-Site, and locally, via posters at the park entrances as well as in local shops, libraries, etc.
We hold a regular volunteer afternoon, known as "Volunteer Sunday" at 1.00pm on the 3rd Sunday of every month. Everyone is welcome to attend, and we attract a wide mix of people who are keen to do things to improve their local park. At these events we do a mix of gardening (weeding, planting, pruning), construction (fencing, raised beds, repairing the pizza oven, etc.), artistic projects (sculptures & mosaics) and clearing (wind blown leaves, soil, & rubbish). The cleaning of the lake (in waders) is one of our most popular activities!
We encourage biodiversity in the park, and are actively pursuing plans to increase the habitat for wildlife within the park. We have a comprehensive Biodiversity Plan for the park (you can view it here).
We are actively developing and cataloguing an archive of the park, covering its last 100 years, and we now document all projects and events which take place. If you have memories or photographs of the park then we would like to hear from you. In addition we have made a small DVD of the history of the park.
We even produce our own Christmas cards - to raise funds for the park.
As a member of the Friends, you can help support our ongoing projects, add your ideas, skills and enthusiasm, organise something you are passionate about, and add your voice to our campaign to improve the environment and facilities within the park. We need your support to keep the pressure up on Manchester City Council, to maintain Platt Fields Park in the state it should be - a safe, welcoming, and green environment for everyone in the heart of the City.
PLEASE JOIN US IN OUR CAMPAIGNING WORK TO KEEP THIS GREAT PUBLIC SPACE THRIVING WELL INTO ITS SECOND CENTURY!

I liked it because I was family and all but the parks were for kids.In other parks like Seymour park in old Trafford the slide is long and tall.there is a push swing that is r ound and at least two people can fit.however this park offers really big grounds for sporty and athletic people for their is a huge free green grass at your disposal.
J. P.
