F. A. ف. ا.
Beautiful place very good for walking or bikes there is some animals and play ground and coffee shop. Take a look to my photo
D. W.
One of my favourite places anywhere. Great walk down the river end to end absolutely beautiful. Also has a table tennis table.
A. N.
One of my favorite spot in newcastle, the tranquility while having a walk is just wonderful. Lot of paths to choose from and every walk is different, i could never get bored walking this park.
M. J.

I. T.
Bit of a damp day when we visited, but absolutely stunning, lovely walks, nice little cafe
F. P.
The pets corner was open and took my 10 month old baby, was nice to see so many animals out for the kids.

A beautiful day in Jesmond dene.
Stunning green views, good for walk, exercise and get fresh air. There is a play area and
pets corner good for kids but until 3.p.m.
L. C. G.
Love this place, it's so picture perfect. It's great to just have a wander with the dog & son. There's pets corner & a little park. It's also great for the summer, plenty of areas to have your own bbq.
C. W.
An absolute sanctuary in the city, my favourite place in Newcastle. Loads of different walking routes. Pets' Corner and it's playground great for kids.
B. V.
This place is worth visiting in all seasons. Spring and summer time is awesome 👌. Spring time we can see lots of blooming.
Autumn is also super awesome. Colours pop us with different hues of red, yellow and brown.
Must visit this place. There are different walk ways for visitors. You will love to see the water stream. soothing music of water flowing through dense trees and chirping of birds makes it quite attractive.
M.
Nice place to go for a walk or take kids to see animals. Only limitation is not a wide variety of animals and the play area is a bit small with limited things for kids to play on. There are free clean toilets on site so that's a plus. Overall well worth a visit as range of things to do.
B. K.
Beautiful, first visit, will be back. Lovely walkways. Waterfalls are lovely. Even found some hidden graves.
C. T. P. P.
Beautiful park, plenty of parking, nice and accessible. The children's park is fun for the wee ones.
Only thing that could make it better would be the bins being emptied more frequently, on a nice weekend especially they are overflowing by noon.
A. L.
Perfect place for a walk in a sunny day, it takes 30mins to reach the waterfall 😍😍 you only need to follow the lines to find it
Follow me on snapchat for more newcastle adventures: wayya
T. k.
Lovely nature reserve and waterfall wish we had more time to explore.
S. T.
Absolutely lovely place to get a little fresh air, enjoy the beautiful gardens and call in at the small animals area.
J. R.
Gorgeous park, views are fantastic, can run, walk and cycle here
R. S.
Visit here for the Parkrun often, some challenging hills and a great view down the valley from the top. Pet's corner and cafe are reasonable too
A.
A great place to meditate or walk, alone or with family.
j. o.
Beautiful park running beside the Ooseburn small river that can be busy on weekends and on holidays.
There is a vistor's centre with s cafe selling sandwiches,, scones, hot and cold drinks, and cake - as well as a small shop selling ornaments. The adjacent menagerie has birds of many kinds and goats (at the moment, in the past it had had pigs and other animals).
L. H.
We went for an early evening walk around Jesmond Dene as an escape from a busy day and it did not disappoint. It felt very tranquil following the footpaths around the woods with lots of wonderful nature to take in. We followed the river up and back down taking in the sounds of the waterfalls and reading about the history along the way. A great way to spend a couple of hours and perfect for all ages. There is also a picnic park in the centre and loads of space for dogs to run around.
U. A.
Very lovely, with natural park and view.
A. A.
Beautiful scenery, miles of walks, cafe and toilet facilities. It's been such a godsend during covid, to have such a tranquil haven within walking distance. Beautiful in all seasons.
F. S.
Our first time visiting this lovely park in the middle of Newcastle. We only explored a very small area as we had our grandchild with us. We were going to visit the petting zoo but unfortunately it was closed due to a case of avian flu. There seems to be lots to do and a lot of information is on the internet. Parking seems to be a bit problematic but we found one ok. It gets very busy at weekends.
S. A.
Spring walking, enjoying nature in this hidden city centre reserve where all sorts of birds' songs can be experienced easily by foot, or on wheels. Some wheelchair access, as not all paths are suitable.
B. M.
Lovely walk round park
Very popular park but so big not crowded
Only negative very limited toilets good job plenty trees 😁
K. C.
Great place to visit with children it contains pets corner, small park, cafe, picnic area and much more to explore

L. S.
Just love this place!😍There are so many paths there is always something new to discover, and every walk is different.
G.
A lovely place for a walk, very scenic. Hilly at points but plenty of flat places to walk as well. There is a cafe for refreshments and a pets corner with a variety of animals.
M. S.
One of my favourite places for a short trip and historical walk.
L. K.
Nice park in the centre of Jesmond. Reminded me a little of Central Park. Nice walk around and all foot paths, so even on a rainy day we didn’t get muddy. Great walk for the dog and lots of things to see and do. Including a little pets corner !
D. D.
A beautiful park with an interesting historical past and numerous secret spots hidden away amongst its winding paths and wild trees. At one end you have pets corner, containing a variety of farm animals and birds for the public to visit for free, as well as a large field, a car park, a kids park and a dog/family friendly cafe. Further in it becomes much more peaceful as you follow the Ouseburn river on a wide and well placed path, that will lead you past several old fairy tale like bridges up to a Victorian water mill next to a wide and beautiful waterfall. Past this there are other hidden treasures, including stepping stones and a disused quarry.
Jesmond dene is the kind of place you can visit a hundred times and still find something new. If you're a visitor to Newcastle I would highly recommend it and if you're a local it's definitely worth taking the time to explore its various nooks and crannies.
P. M.
This is a beautiful place. Lovely walk to the waterfall and back to pets corner. Hopefully be able to try this during the summer when lockdown finished.
A. B.
Amazing. Many different paths to walk . The animals so much fun for the kids. Toilets available. Great time for all.
B. T. S.
If you want some nature...
A.
Lovely walks, wildlife, Pets Corner, picnic areas & cafe.
G.
We visited on a warm, sunny, spring day - but this lovely secluded park is beautiful in any season. I hadn't visited since 1980 when I used to live in the Cradlewell area and the Dene is perhaps even more beautiful than ever. A pity about the items of rubbish discarded here and there.
J. G.
Gentle walks along river. Plenty of parking (50p/hour). Toilet and coffee shop next to Pets Corner.
G. C.
Absolutely fantastic. The walk was brilliant all the way around. Seeing and hearing all the different animals were just bliss. Will definitely be back again.
P. R.
During lockdown I've probably walked or ran through the Dene over 100 times. I could never get bored of it. Beautiful green space. Even saw a mother and baby Deer one time.
A. T.
Beautiful walks and breathtaking scenery. My toddler son is especially fond of the waterfall.
C. V.
Stunning. What a lovely place to go for a walk if you are in Newcastle. Not to be missed.
J. E.
We visited this place during the winter. So by 5pm, it was really dark and nothing much to do. The park looked lovely though. We will definitely return here during the summer.
C. P.
I walk my dog everyday here and I love it . There are woodland paths, waterfalls and large grassy areas. There’s pets corner for children and a cafe . My only negative is in summer the ever decreasing number of bins are overflowing!
However it’s definitely worth a visit !
a. a.
Excellent walk around here. Lovely place for a picnic and for children to run some energy off. Nice little pets corner and an ice cream van
K. H.
Clean, assessible toilets and cafe open for takeaways. Walk up to the Mill and Waterfall is lovely and reasonably flat.
P. G.
Shame about the pets corner being closed. Lots of people out walking..it was very icy under foot. Best place ever.
E. A.
A truly wonderful area with so much to see in beautiful surroundings and so close to the city!
S. F.
Jesmond Dene was magic, today had a great walk and took a few pictures.
The weather was perfect, sat and had a nice coffee in the sunshine.
D. D.
Love going here for a wander and to watch the waterfall. Perfect space to clear your head. Hard to beleive this gem is within the city
A.
So beautiful - a great place for a lovely walk or picnic
C. Y.
Really lovely place I can get lost walking around the place ( in a good way ) always friendly people ther it's a good day out with the family or even by yourself going for a run .or even just to walke taking in the landmark
A. B.
Love this place animals coffee cake the park ..what's not to love?
B. H.
Leafy and lovely. Always a pleasant experience here. Nice clean area, and the play park is well maintained.
N. B.
Quite a few paths have collapsed, upstream from the mill. Climbed and found a park I never knew was there, so the bairn was happy.
K. H.
A lovely day out with the kids. Other side you have freeman park. Which has few rides for the kids. Downside is a very small car park. But you can find free street parking around.
R. F.
Lovely location for walks. Coffee shop at the visitors centre is reasonable and seems to be a potential option for breakfast (though can’t confirm as we’d already eaten).
Some great scenery and activities for the family.
D. A.
I was brought up beside the Dene it always will hold a place in my heart. It is a free place to enjoy scenery, nature and a coffee
M. V.
Very nice walk and a lovely waterfall
C. R.
Ideal place to take family for walks n seeing some animals in the petting corner
M. D. (.
Fresh air, nice view! You can see ppl walking their pets, a family with a kid, or young group of friends who are enjoying their times being there...
D. T.
Jesmond Dene is a great place for half a day stop off, can get busy now summer is here. A great place thanks to lord Armstrong who donated it to the city. Friends of Jesmond cafe is open these days as well with nice food. Also Saturday food market on the bridge starting at 10.00 am
L. H.
Yes its a nice park but definitely overrated
M. A.
It is one of the best and largest parks in Newcastle, which I have visited a lot
It has a children's play area
A. H.
Great place for young and old, alone or in a group. Lovely walks, including a waterfall and animal park. Cafe is open at the moment for takeaway only
J. R.
Beautiful park, well kept. You wouldn’t know you were in the middle of a city.
C. “. C.
Lovely autumnal walk around Jesmond Dene. Lots to see amongst beautiful surroundings.
k. a.
Beautiful for a autumn walk. Plenty of rest stops along the way. Now the pet corner is open again better for the kids. Can't wait to go back
D. H.
Very nice. Quite a lot of damage to trees because of the two storms. Staff are doing a great job tidying up
j.
Fantastic place for kids and adults alike. Great play parks, animal farm, food/coffee shop and ice cream van.
All before walking up the beautiful trails in the Dene.
Highly recommended in any weather and all year round.
J. W.
A beautiful public park gifted to the city by Lord Armstrong. Many paths are very accessible. Some routes are steep as it lies in a valley. There is a café, visitor centre, toilet facilities and a small pets' area which lies in shadow of Armstrong Bridge.
A. B.
Great place a few minutes out of the city centre. Lovely walks that can be as long as you want and always remain in a quiet, tree lined location. Pets Corner is always worth a visit - for young and old
L. C.
Fab park, not enough parking available but it is well maintained and the toilets were pretty good for park standards. Pets Corner unfortunately shuts at 2pm so we missed that but it did look good. Pretty trees everywhere, would recommend for an afternoon in the sun.
A. M.
What a lovely spot. Lots of up and down trails, meadows, picturesque stream, old mill, etc Looking forward to exploring more when the weather is finer. Spring bursting out all over the place, and interesting looking and popular children's playground, and zoo/patting zoo with a curious goat (still closed until 17 May 2021)
A. M.
Unreal place, unreal beauty! Here you can feel yourself in a medieval fairy tale! Bring your children here!
e.
A very walk along this park with path along the river. Something there for everyone. Children's playground. Pets Corner. Interesting arch bridges over River. There is a water mill with restored wheel. There is part of the gear wheel which was used to grind wheat into flour. There is a water fall. A diversion from the path leads to St Mays Chapel. It is fenced off but can still see the remains. Further up the path leads to the banqueting hall.
S. H.
Love that this is just in town, class walk
R. C.
Beautiful place to walk with a stream and waterfall.
s.
Amazing spot for walls, runs, picnics and kids!
R. B.
The Zoo was closed because of bird flu but still enjoy the walk.
D. C.
Lovely walks and free pets corner a delight for young children. Pets corner open for limited hours during pandemic with one way system in place but kudos for keeping it going, and worth going here just for the surroundings and walks. My young boy loves just climbing the trees and banks!
J. L.
great walks and place area for the children. very clean...
J. I.
One of the most beautiful parks I've seen and it's right by the city. It has an amazing design in that it has miles of trails that run parallel to each other so you can wander and get lost and have a different experience every many times more than a park of similar size
S.
Nice little nature walk not too far out from the city. Got some great areas for dog walking and adventuring into some of the less heavy footed areas.
A. W.
Great for walks, jogging, and walking the dog. Wish they would reopen the public toilets near the waterfall.
J. D.
Lovely place for all the family
E. W.
A beautiful walk through a magical dene.
D. S.

S. G.

A. T.
One of the nicest parks in Newcastle, the path feels like you are in the woods.
B. A.
A great place for all ages. Pet's corner offers viewing for animal lovers whilst the playground gives small children a place to play whilst their guardians watch with coffee from the cafe nearby
N. E. S.
It is a nice outdoor space to spend sometime with friends and family or even by yourself. You get to connect with nature while living in the city
T. M.
Beautiful area. Every Sunday morning I take my two year old son there. It is always peaceful. We walk along the outside of Pets corner as it is normally closed until later in the day. We look at the birds and animals. There is also a kids play park which is great. Lot's of grassy areas to run around on too.
s. a.
Excellent place to see dogs. Or walk your own dog if you have one.
A. P.
Lovely, great place for a walk/run and bring kids.
s.
Lovely place to have a walk or you could visit pets Corner. Also a great place to have a family picnic.
There's also loads of paths to walk your dog and observe the wildlife. I love this place....
c. G.
Biggest park in Newcastle. Spectacular waterfall beside the Old Watermill.
L. N.
Very pretty valley in the heart of Jesmond, the paths are well maintained, the picnic field could have done with a bit of a mow, but very nice place to go for a stroll, view the stream and the associated old buildings alongside.
E. D.
Beautiful walks, best place to see Autumn, one finds it hard to believe you are in the city as it is nice and peaceful. Nice bit of history to pursue also.
K. S.

If you like nature; it definitely a place for you. Recreational park for family and friends meet up. It’s about 15 minutes walk from the Jesmond metro station. Get onto Jesmond road from the station and walk down, it’s on the end of the road.

S. P. V. (. K.
Great place to enjoy nature. This place has history and gives you very pleasant feel everytime. There is a pets' corner, waterfalls, picnic centre. I prefer coming here and spending time alone or with friends/family. People bring their pet dogs here and play. I have seen so many running across. This place gives me peace. Thanks for the maintenance and great looks. The beauty of this place multiplies when it's sunny. It also looks pretty good when raining.
T. T.
A refreshing walk after the rain with my family. My little one loved it
A. W.
Brilliant place to visit and walk around whilst in Newcastle. So quiet and peaceful once inside park. Metro stop nearby and plenty of parking available.

Quiet green oasis in the middle of Newcastle. Great for a walk.
D. A.
Great for walks, jogging... Relaxing.. No public toilets I could find, but very nice for sitting outside on a nice day.
A. M. C.
Annoying to find parking meters all over these days!!! Walks as good as ever and well signposted as to where they're heading. Lower walks fine for disabled access. Pets Corner was not open, probably due to safe distancing re covid. Good walking with dogs.
M. S.
love Jesmond dene walking from Newcastle quayside to South Gosforth walk that route regularly
B. F. r.
Beautiful greenery cafe and part can't beat the sunshine as well.
V. O.
Lovley walk through the dene. Nice cuppa and shortbread from the cafe.
Ice-cream van had no ice lolly's🙁👎
Shame the kids couldn't go near the water....signs warning contamination
L. A. B.
Lovely place, walked through to old Mill and waterfall , beware, no toilets other than visitor centre if u have small kids.
S. L.
Lovely to wander around and be able to sit down! There are things suitable for all the family, with Pets Corner and a play area. These are closed at the moment due to the current pandemic but you can still find grassy areas for a kick around.
C. T.
Not much to see but walk was ok
S. M.
We visited about 10:30 on a weekday. The play area beside Pets Corner was quite busy, nobody appeared to be abiding by social distancing rules, the kids train operator was neither masked or distancing. Cafe appeared to be open but didn't go in. I've rated it 4 as the Dene itself was tidy, and we had a pleasant walk.
R. W.
Jesmond Dene is stunning all year round. An oasis of calm in the middle of the city. Even on busy days you can always find quiet parts to contemplate life. Lots of community activities as well.
W. C. T. C.

Awesome! Perfect for solitude seeking readers, runners, walkers, those carnage inducing young family activities undertaken and catching the limited UV we get. Head down to breath in some potentially cleaner, much less cancer inducing fume filled city air and revel in the multiple tree-scaped terrain.
S. Y.
Beautiful place. Pets corner is great for the kids. Don't forget where you parked your car though! We lost ours for an hour 🤣
T. S.
Quite simply one of the most stunning artificial water gardens in England. The whole place is essentially a large rural idyll built by the great engineer William Armstrong, featuring a heavily modified natural water course with waterfalls and rocky banks in a faux rural setting. The naturalism is deceptive (many visitors assume the place is completely natural), and the scale rivals that of Studley Royal in Yorkshire, an altogether more tame water garden.
Services are rudimentary, with one public toilet and a small visitor centre. There is a well stocked petting zoo which will be the highlight of many a child's visit.
The lower end of the valley beneath the petting zoo is a well kept grassy area where children can run around quite safely and families can picnic.
For a public garden like this, accessibility is not high. Even if you can get into the park by road down the steep banks you'll find only part of the interior well paved, and barely traversible by wheelchair even with a sturdy pusher or a powerful scooter. Overall, this park is a severe challenge to those with low mobility. With rare exceptions steep gradients can be expected everywhere in the park. A realistic attitude and good planning may make for a fruitful visit, however. There's no scenery like this elsewhere in the lower reaches of the Tyne.

Every time I go here I see something different it is busy especially at the moment with travel restrictions everyone is getting to the little bit of country in the city but its beautiful and always different with changing seasons people etc

so lucky to have this denim the city of Newcastle that Lord Armstrong gave to the city for the residents and visitors to emjoy for decades which you can easily get lost in the mamy paths but with the flowing ouse river flowing through with waterfalls stepping stones an old mill and pets corner which all being well will open up soon..please respect amd always take your rubbish home with you
L. R.
Lovely place to take the children. It has pets corner and a little Park.
J. S.
Been coming here for 30 years! That should say everything. Lovely place to chill, walk and lovely scenery. Cafe to enjoy and pets Corner as well. A little haven in the city.
P. P.
A must-visit , pocket friendly day out park with family , when the Sun is out. Close to Newcastle, this place is a mix of lots of different things -Walk trail, childrens play area, Barbeque spots, mini train ride (for £2), scenic waterfall beauty, picnic area, mini zoo zone, icecream van and a small stream that is fun to cross. The parking spots that is 10 min walk from the park gets too busy during sunny days, cheaper though- 50p per hour. There is a cafe inside the park and toilets in the same building..
M. R.
Not many animals now but great for a nice walk and picnic

Jesmond Dene is a pearl in the heart of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. What I absolutely love is going for a stroll and getting so immersed in the beauty that nature offers that you forget you are in a fully functional modern city. I recommend visiting the Dene at least once a season to appreciate its beauty. Pets corner and the play parks offer fun for kids and make for enjoyable family friendly outings. A lovely place to picnic with family and friends.

Inner city treat. Armstrong's gift to the city. Almost a vindication of the old Victorian oligarchs. Their contemporary equivalents wont be making gifts of this magnitude any time soon (Ashley anyone).
