Reviews of Arboretum
C. R.
Lovely park to enjoy nature, have a picnic or a walk. There’s a beautiful lake with lots of wildlife around (ducks and squirrels mostly) and a variety of types of trees. It does get locked depending on the season so make sure to check the opening times so you avoid getting locked in!
S. S.
Nottingham’s oldest park, opened by the Victorians on 11th May 1852 by the Mayor and the Sheriff of the Borough in front of 30,000 people.
It’s a relaxing and calm place to wander around, and the wide diversity of design and features make it feel even bigger than it really is. There is also a fantastic little cafe by Waverley Street entrance.
If you found my review or photos interesting please leave a quick thumbs up 👍 Thank you!

Just a really nice and relaxing park, very well kept and everything a park like this should be. It helped that the Sun was shining but in general it was great and the concert that was on gave another dimension to the park and proves that it can handle big events well too.

I took my 5 year old daughter here to take a look at the Arboretum. This place didn't seem interesting to her. She was more interested in knowing what the crow was and the yellow roses. We trekked our way to the Chinese Bell Tower and took a look at it for a minute or two. It's a bit of a walk for her. Especially up some hills. She became tired quite fast.

This is such a big peaceful area to visit. The sound of the trees when the wind blows,is such a refreshing sound. The colourful flowers make this place is a relaxing place to be. This is such a nice place to have picnics especially during summer time. There are a number of bins and the park is well maintained. It is important to point out that there is a pond with some ducks and there is a restriction of not feeding these ducks. We love to visit this place as its easily accessible with nearby tram stop and also it is wheelchair accessible.

Visited early in the morning, lovely park, well manicured, dew on the ground, sun shining through trees, dog walkers in good attendance.
Surprised to see a small aviary there, but the birds looked very happy.
The exhibit that caught my eye was the Chinese Bell Tower, the bell being bought to the UK during the Opium wars, my word we took so much plunder from almost every corner of the word, but you can't turn back the clock !

A beautiful well-kept park just off NTU campus (a few minutes walk from Old Market Square). It’s home to about 800 trees of various species, some of which were planted in the 19th century. A stone’s throw from the main gate, there is a pond full of cute ducks and their ducklings. I do enjoy sitting on the wooden bench facing the pond and gaze at them as they dabble, dive, bob and quack. I’d also share some nuts with the lovely squirrels darting here and there. Such a pleasure.
S.
Prettiest place especially at this time of the year (early April) - you can catch the lovely cherry blossoms dotted around the park. There are so many friendly squirrels too. We had to choose between Aborteum and Highfield Park for the afternoon and I’m so glad we chose this. It only takes around 30 mins to walk around the whole park.
Perfect place to take a quick break since there’s plenty of benches too.
S.
Very nice arboretum. I went for the first time, as I wanted to check out the Green Festival on 12th Sep 2021, which was there.
The festival was fantastic! Loads of food and craft stalls.
Plus, we got to look around the arboretum.
Shame it doesn't have parking and more seats/benches.
L. P. E.
Beautiful park in the heart of Nottingham. A quiet and ever green place very close to the noisy city center. A great place to relax sitting on a bench, on the grass or walking the lovely pathways.
S. D.
Lovely place. Enjoyed running around here. Very clean, plenty of seating. Lovely little pond. Lots of interesting history and statues.
N. T.
Peaceful place for quiet meditation and reflection.
Such a cute location and . Highly recommend.
S. D.
I love it here, my favorite green space in the city. Beautiful trees and wildlife and there's also a cafe.
K. P.
Very beautiful park for a walk with plenty of lovely flowers in the spring/summer months. Squirrels are literally everywhere 🐿️💓
R. V.
Very nice place visited in the evening, can find more Squirrels coming along with us and playing, can find ducks on the pond.
P. L.
Nice place to have a walk.
Just be careful not to step on wet leaves.
F. A.
Very tranquil Park. Lovely collection of trees. Pond and a few caged birds also.
S. J.
The park it's self is very nice. But the people made it unpleasant, oh and no public toilets and no kids play area. Cafe there is over priced. Loud music playing from the houses behind.
A. W.
Absolutely wonderful for a walk around with the family, not too large of an area for small legs to get tired but with beautiful grounds and not far from the city centre for travel to other places. The tram and buses make it easy to travel to and from. Just another little hidden slice of the countryside brought into the city.
A. G.
one of the most beautiful parks I have ever seen
T. N.
Went to a festival here and was brilliant, Lovely chilled place 😊
A. A. D.
Such an amazing atmosphere, there was music, but my daughter wS not very interested;)
T.
Lovely and beautiful park. Cafe on site (ice cream!), pond with lots of ducks, avery for adopted birds and lots of nice places to sit. Would definitely recommend going here for a chill afternoon with friends or nice date. :)
R. P.
Really beautiful woods in the city. There is an interesting Pagoda from China with Crimean cannons around her.
R. B.
Nice garden to hang out with family or friends. Small lake with ducks, birds in aviary (mostly parrots), pigeons and squirrels make this garden unique and children friendly. Nearby High school tram stop make this place accessible from anywhere in the city.
T. H.
Walked through on my first evening in town and it was fantastic.
S. R.
A lot of people feeding the animals despite signs saying not to. Also some guy kept approaching my friend and I even though we were just there to read a book/paint without interacting with other people. Wish there was a bit of security around the park to look out for us in case anything happened but I understand that it is a public area.
P. A.
Green green green all around and that crimean war memorial worth to visit. Tarmac alleys in arboretum are good for joggers
P. H.
Lovely to feel like you’re in the middle of the countryside while still in the city!
E. N.
Under the enclosure act,17acres (c 7ha) was allocated as public open space for Nottingham arboretum.the arboretum was designed by Samuel Curtis (1779-1860), the nurseryman and botanical publisher, and laid out by Nottingham town council between 1850 and 1852 a historic, beautifully maintained park that is home to an important collection of over 800 trees, some of which are from the original collection planted.just seen this photo of the arboretum and the parson who taken the phone should open their eyes because there's lots of different sorts of flowers on the arboretum Go on Google maps check out my photos of the arboretum and see the flowers.
j. L.
This is an old public open space, donated to the city in the past. Just past the University of Nottingham, this is an open area, quite even though it is just 20 minutes from the centre, not much to see or do, unless the bandstand is in use. There is a small cafe at the University entrance, not sure if there are public toilets available here.
S. M.
Lovely place to walk and enjoy the environment, greenery, fresh air and vast space all within walking distance to town.
J. H.
The Arboretum is a beautiful place to visit at anytime of the year.
A perfect place to walk your furry bestfriend.
It's a good place to spend time with your family. It's full of history.
There is a dog friendly cafe at the main entrance, with indoor and outdoor seating.
The bird cages have been restored and look really good again.
We paid a visit on Sunday 12/1/20 and the photos show how beautiful it was on that day.
Enjoy your visit 🐕❤
R. T.
It was cold and overcast but still the park had it's on beauty, so over 80 photos and
hour n half later, me and my mobility scooter came to the bottom small lake, it was
well maintained lots of fallen Leeds but very nice, thank you staff.
t. h.
Nice park with a pond and various aviaries. Walking distance from the city centre or easily accessed by tram.
c. b.
Has trees planted from around the world since the early Victorian age, a small lake, aviary and guns from the Crimea in a memorial . Beautiful city park, that only the Victorians could achieve
n. H.
Awesome!! Loved it. Great place to relax. Trees over here is very old and nicely maintained. Kids will enjoy birds, duck pool, and landscape. Lot of place to play around, sit, walk with pets. Very close to City center.
S. N.
The place to go for a serene and calm experience within the hustles and bustles of the city. You can also come here for a visually bountiful jog or witness the vast collection of the different species of flora 🌳😍
T.
Beautiful green inner city park with numerous footpaths among the trees and plenty of benches to sit and just enjoy being outside.
They is a lovely large pond ,a war monument and a avery with cheeky cockatiel's .
The squirrels aren't shy and will approach you if you have peanuts for them
J. A.
Great Victorian style park in Nottingham
w. 1.
Really nice and peaceful. You can take beautiful pictures here, which are aesthetically pleasing to look at. I definitely recommend going here if you're looking for a place where it's quiet and calm! However I'll take 1 star away because in some areas of the park it smells with poo which makes the trip less enjoyable.
A. C.
What a lovely place, and only a short walk from the city centre. The area itself isn't massive, but thats not really the idea - you stroll slowly through it, taking your time regularly stopping at the various benches and areas along the way.
We have two small children in tow so not quite made full use of how relaxing it should be, but that doesn't change the fact that its nice for a wonder round.
Worth a visit if your in the area!
J. G.
Beautiful park with a small lake or paddock for the ducks, cafe on the uni entrance. There is a band stand. Plenty of space to find a spot to relax. Come caged and uncaged birds. And plenty of cheeky squirrels. Made help for me on my lunch breaks.
N. B.
This is a perfect little park removes from the bustle of Nottingham. Tons of benches and places for a picnic. It's not a great place for sightseeing, but an awesome place to spend a sunny afternoon. The only downside is that Friday/Saturday/Sunday has a bit of a drunk crowd, which can be a bit rowdy.
K. “. J.
Great place to spend an hour or a day with a picnic and some games. There's plenty to see and wander around.
I like to take my lunch breaks there, it's a peaceful oasis in a busy Nottingham city centre...
j. w.
Small little arboretum but a lovely place that was free to get in. We park just around the corner for free on a Sunday, I don't know about other times.
t. u.
Amazing place to walk/picnic/ feed animals such us pidgeots and ducks. And of course if u want to read something you can sit in a quiet place. Gongratzulations to all the personnel there. You are doing an amazing job. Thank you for taking good care of the park and all the animals loving in.
A. P.
A real quiet place to have a peaceful time. Well maintained lawns and pathways, good for kids and dog walks. The pond and bird watch area is another addition to the beauty and an engagement around the area.
M. N.
Great park, super busy when the weather is good but it's nice vibes.
Giant shame the bathrooms are never open
J. R.
Pleasant enough park just off campus, surprisingly steep in places. Probably a lot lovelier in July than October!
E. T.
Nice place to spend your evening
R. B.
A beautiful park close to Nottingham Trent University and the city centre. There's a small lake with lots of ducks and an aviary. All of the trees make it lovely and shady on a hot day.
D. M. I.
It is a wonderful park. Nice and cosy. Best view will be available when its sunny. A little piece of information may be of help, please leave the place while daylight is still available. Once we had a bad experience of mugging by a group of young spoilt lads. Otherwise, a nice place to relax and pass time.
G. C.
Beautiful park near the city centre of Nottingham. Suitable for a quiet walk in the evenings.
J. K.
Excellent, clean green space just a short walk from the town center. Public toilets available, an aviary and pond. A beautiful place to picnic in the sun.
M. W.
This is my chill out and meditation place... So many wonderful trees and bird life... My only sadness here is that the wonderful rose garden no longer exists, but there are lots of places to sit and be... They do fabulous events too... Be aware that it does have closing times depending on the season.
I. P.
Lovely park at the city centre. Garden is very well kept and clean. There's a cafe on site, a pond, and a small avery.
B. p. M.
Beautiful park, great for walking my dog Micky and relaxing in the flower garden.
B. S.
Quaint park spread over a huge land. Great for walks, to come with family and kids. Serves as an excellent picnic spot during Summers.
N. H.
Lovely park and gardens. Clean and well kept. Shame the lake was dirty looking (?algae) and birds were also kept in an aviary .
S. R.
Lovely space to enjoy a lazy Saturday
A. H.
Clean and comfortable room and bed. Great price. Great staff. Opposite Tesco Extra and a bakery open early and doing coffee etc. Near ALDI. Between Sutton in Ashfield and Mansfield. Nearer to Sutton 🙂
M. K.
It's not the biggest park, but it's very pretty and has nice spots you can sit, relax, and admire the view.
V. H.
It's an oasis of still calm beauty! It's so well maintained and there's a nice caffe too
N. A.

A. J. A. H.
Lovely and beautiful for family relaxing and enjoying green close to the city.
H.
Great little park, addition of a coffee shop is a good idea, nice cakes :)
Good atmosphere, lots of local students and families too
It's a shame the bandstand was unused.
BBQ's & glass bottles are not allowed in the park
J. R. I.
Nice place for a walk with kids. There are a lot of squirrels running around and coming close to be feed.
D. S.
Nice place for everyone ,with pond and bird cage. Children really enjoy with nature.
M.
I love this place. Always makes me happy - except when the sun has been out and the lazy, disrespectful students leave the place looking like a dump site. Despite the council adding an abundance of extra bins to prevent any need for littering. And the duck pond could do with some major TLC
E. W.
Beautiful gardens. Lots of places to sit and relax.
T. R.
Lovely city center park. Lots of quite bold squirrels.
S. B.
Lovely little park with a great play area
S. R.
I love this place. Ive had many a morning stroll through here and listened to the birds. A bit of nature in the centre of the city id say!!! Its a good spot for a little picnic or a little walk. Me and Jnr overtime have spent many hours here. Its a small walk from the city centre and is easy to get to by tram. Grab a coffee and take a stroll. Its very well maintained and always clean!!!
R. J.
Lovely clean and tidy place. Very peaceful

A huge beautiful park. Great to take your kids here. Perfect for walks or just having a picnic with your family. Very peaceful.
B. B.
Well maintained, lovely area to walk around or stop to rest.
C. R.
Lovely park with nice history, some strange people were playing loud music through a speaker which wasn't the nicest but the park itself is nice.
G. B.
A wonderful day was had, my husband and myself will definitely have more visits to this amazing place. We were invited for the unveiling of the "Coal Mining memorial". Most certainly a day we will cherish. The staff and all involved made us so welcome. The Staff who are mostly volunteers were so helpful and friendly The restaurant served delicious food and so beautifully clean 10/10 Well done. Above and beyond our expectation. Our family and friends are looking forward to visiting this incredible place.
M. B.
Really Beautiful place.
Very Close to The city centre, parking spaces just outside The entry.
P. S.
Great park with lots of beautiful sights.
Μ. Κ.
Very beadiful park. I love feeding the Squirrels, ducks, and pidgeots. Bravo to all the staff that works there. Your doing a wonderful job.
V. P.
I really enjoy to be here. The place is clean and calm and has many beautiful plants.
D. P.
A beautiful haven of solice designed for picnic-ers and promenaders; not fooball or cricket! Its lovely, well worth visiting. In this place the best idea is to walk all the paths, not simply to walk from one side to the other; allow 3 hours and bathe in the glorious variety of Nature......
T. B.
Beautiful park and duck pond lovely place to relax
f. g.
Great place for relaxing, only 4 stars due to toilets being locked.
K. M.
One of my favorite places to take my breakfast iin front of the small lake on the silent Sundays
C. B.
Very well kept and peaceful park. I come weekly and it’s the perfect place for taking a walk, or basically enjoying the serenity.
A. O.

R. G.
A beautifully tranquil oasis an easy walk just North of the city centre.
M. H.
Beautiful park great variety of trees in here and very calming
M. B.
Nice neighbour park. Not too big but good to chill in
Ľ. K.
A beautiful and peaceful park in the heart of Nottingham!
There is also an aviary (couple cages with birds) that apparently has a long lasting tradition as well as a little pond with ducks, so if observing birds is your jam, there's some sitting space in the area.
P. P.
Beautiful garden, best during spring and summers. Lots of people play football and bring barbeques. Lovely atmosphere.
N. C.
Beautiful park, lots of very tame wildlife. Great place to go to see squirrels up close. Visited in May when the gardens had rhodedendron and camelia in bloom.
P. R.
Lovely space but needs a playpark
L. D.
Big beautiful peaceful garden to walk around lovely flowers trees and wildlife to see
O. V.
Lovely historic park, beautiful in Autumn and well kept. Worth going for a walk for some peace from the hustle & bustle!
S. t. s.
Love the camellias ❤🌺 , the squirrels, the ducks, the birds, etc
Z. S.
Truly a place where you can find peace and quiet in the heart of a city ❤
B.
A beautiful park in the Nottingham city centre, very well kept with flowers and clean paths, there's a big duck pond with loads of ducks bobbing about, a big open area to take the kids to let them get some of their energy out. It's a very beautiful park.
S. B.
Still a nice area to get away from the hustle&bustle of the town centre.
The squirrells, birds&pond make it a nice place to take youngsters, and the addition of a great selection of dahlia add to the experience.
The only downside was that odd areas lacked attention&looked too overgrown with weeds.
The Arboretum Cafe is well worth a visit too.
D. B.
Lovely little park with a cafe at the bottom. Point taken off because the bathroom is for "paying customers only". I bought something just to use the toilet as I have a disability involving my emergency exits so make sure you have money ready.
P. D.
Nice place during the day for walk in the city, my son loves seeing the birds
N. G.
Great park next to Nottingham Trent University, with a new cafe by lower entrance
D. S.
Amazing promenade around the small lake with ducks and other variety of birds.
A.
Very pretty but could do with more flowers !!
M. D. P.
I love the wide area and the plants in this park. I would visit weekly if I could. Would be nice if I can bring my cat with me. :)
A. S.
Great park so beautiful in the fall
S.
There are some beautiful spaces around the park. Unfortunately, there are quite a few cheap alcohol enthusiasts who can leave you feeling less than comfortable. Nice for a quick visit, but I wouldn't stay long
J. W.
Got to thank the Victorians who planted this out. Lovely green space with an amazing variety of trees. Just enjoy and soak up how amazing the variety of trees there is. They do concerts over summer here. The best oasis of green in the inner city.
V. G.
Nice nearby park to spend some time. Near to tram station and university
S. R.
Stunning place to sit and enjoy a picnic
G. A.
One of Nottingham's little secrets. Lovely place to walk and enjoy the beautiful well maintained gardens and shrubberies not to mention, of course, the magnificent age old trees. If only they could speak, what stories they could tell.
Dogs are allowed but PLEASE pick up after them. No excuses as there are bins everywhere.
There is a bandstand which hosts events so check Whats on in Nottingham for information.
If you have never been, then for a peaceful afternoon stroll i can wholly recommend.
J. M.
Lovely space. Lots of green, beautiful flowers, cool aviary, nice big pond. Be prepared for a workout though, it's got lots of steep ups and downs which aren't really avoidable.
J. A.
Very nice afternoon walk with our dogs.
K. F.
A lovely place to walk around, seeing the ducks and the birds. Lovely cafe too.
N. T.
Just beautiful and the nature that lives inside is unbeatable.
K. P.
Always a lovely place to walk through. An island of tranquil calm nestled right next to the city centre.

l. m.
A park where lot of lovely natural activity take places. Pond is great & fun for kids, bird lovers has more chance seeing smalls birds. Lot of very old trees, wild flowers with natural environment. Although small play area might have have created to cover up kids. A piece of mind for sure if you go at the right time :) love it.
N. B.
Lovely park with trees to relax under, love the little grey budgie...and a handy cafe
D. N.
Beautiful walk again a little busier than normal due to people getting out at lockdown
r. a.
Nice big park, but high slopes so tough for running. A guy in corner approached and was trying to sell illegal things.
M. “. A.
Intersting little park with some unusual and well established trees.
S. A.
Really lovely evening watching Frank Turner. Amazing park and brilliant use of the space.
S. B.
Lovely space right in the middle of our city
B. M.
I've been in February so besides parrots, statues and monument, nothing much to see, flowers wise.
Still a nice park.lake was empty and depressing
M. M.
Amazing and there are a few aviary's with budgies, cockatiel's, a parrot and a love bird. It is especially great when you go see the green festival.
😄😄😄😄
S. M.
Bit small but lovely duck pond and plenty of park benches to sit and enjoy the scenery.
J. H.
Beautiful park. Well worth a look.👍
A. D.
Lovely place to visit and chill 😎
C. K. (.
Lovely place to go for a walk! Has a pond with ducks and a place to look at birds in cages. Tends to smell a bit like pee but overall a great place to visit!
M. D.
This is a lovely place if you're are one of those people who just needs to get away from the city for a little while and enjoys a nice walk in the park essentially. It's has a lovely lake next to a bird enclosure, it has plenty of space to just sit and relax.
My only complaint would be other people - oh man, have you ever met other people in a park? Jeez
o. m.
I love this park! Simply love!
D. D.
Nice bit of nature just 10 minutes walk from the City Centre. Lovely aviary & friendly squirrels whilst relaxing from the busy streets
s. c.
Here for The Nottingham Mela. Enjoying the sunshine and delicious food.
V. H.
A beautiful, well maintained leafy green space to take a stroll when in Nottingham. Plenty of space for picnics or just watching the world go by. Beautiful x
W. W.
Lovely serene green spaces
P. L.
An interesting open space with duck pond, restaurant cafe, bandstand, and eclectic monuments including a pagoda, cannons and Chartist leader Fergus O'Connor. Popular when the sun shines but has a mixed reputation for muggings after dark.
S. R.
Beautiful, calm and relaxing place to take an afternoon stroll through.
N. L.
Nice relaxing walk. Would be nice to have known that the city park and ride was so close and went right by the entrance - would have saved me an expensive street parking fee... But the squirrels there are SO friendly, and some beautiful trees and flowers.
S. L.
I really enjoyed walking around Arboretum because it reminds me of all the good memories i had there..
m. t.
A medium size park and gardens they have a few events here throughout the year which are great to visit. Nice quiet place to have picnic in park though lack of more benches wouldn’t go a miss to sit on . A small parrot enclosure and pond beautiful flowers.
A. R. K.
Great environment, loads of space, well kept, would go on a good day again 10/10
M. P.
It was nice to walk in a park full of different plants, I advise everyone to visit this beauty)
V. H.
Lovely place to walk. Delicious food at their cafe.
L. W.
Amazing park, right in the middle of Nottingham. Lots of different spaces, an aviary, a pond & a cafe 😊
W. S.
A lovely escape from the noisy city centre.
C. U.
Great little park, they have a range of events and activities happening here over the year so it feels like a bit of community hub. The bar and music events over summer 2020 were such a welcome addition to the summer in lieu of being able to go to clubs etc. I hope they continue that.
B. C.
Small but beautiful park within walking distance of the city. Flower beds are always amazing and fine collection of trees. There is also an aviary, small lake and a new cafe. There are also spots where you can sit and read and relish the peace and quiet. Children will love chasing squirrels and enjoy the birds in the aviary.
J. B.
Lovely gem just a 2 minute tram ride from the city centre. Very quiet and peaceful, well maintained, and lots of wildlife.
I only drop a star because all toilets including disabled were closed without a reason.
A. D.
Beautiful park in Nottingham.Good for family picnics and walks
Z. E.
I liked the park but there were lots people smoking wide behind me and my children. I moved of place lots of time and always someone else went to sit and smoking wide behind. So thank you for beautiful park but I am not going to return there again.
A. B.
Arboretum Sunset concerts are awesome
D. M.
Went to a festival there .Great place .Great lot of people. But need a place to get tea/coffee with out walking 10mins to get one and another beer tent 30min wait. But that is not the places though.

The Arboretum is close to the city centre but it's peaceful and quiet. There are lots of ducks on the lake. The aviaries are interesting to look at, although it would be good if there was information about what kind of birds are in them. It's a nice park to walk around and explore.
V. M.
Great park right in the heart of Nottingham. This little peaceful gem is great for walks with its diverse vegetation and some friendly wildlife. The park includes a little area with parrots to be enjoyed by adults and kids alike. Great for a short getaway from the busy Nottingham life and take a relaxing walk in a great environment.
G. C. (.
- Lovely nature spot in the city centre.
- Close to a sainsbury's if you fancy a spontaneous picnic.
- Has a little pond and some bird enclosures.
- Lovely area for dog walking.
L. R.
Full of wildlife, a great escape from the city
C.
Lovely place to just relax and do some wildlife walking. But beware the hills if you're like me and got bad knees 😅
M. B.
great for walks and a mini adventure in any weather
E. C.
This is the perfect place to relax. So peaceful
V. 1.
Nice little park , often walk into the city centre during the summer months from forest fields park & ride. Love the arboretum & normally feed the ducks & watch the birds in the averies.plenty of space for a picnic & watch the squirrels running around.seating area around the park & pretty flowers bloom in the spring.
K. W.
Gardens were pretty, the parrot (Bella) was really friendly. The aviary and duck pond could do with a little more TLC. Staff member we saw was really knowledgeable and friendly. Nice for an afternoon stroll in the sunshine.
C. T.
Love this Park you don't feel like your in the city. The variety of trees is amazing. Lots of open space and forest paths. Perfect for a lunch time walk, picnics or just to look at the flowers and ducks.
A. C.
Absolutely brill. Had a great time, listening to the live music. Bootleg Beatles, Miss Bowie and the New Killer Stars, couple of guitarist/singers.
K. B.
Nice walk good for kids.
I. I.
A lovely place to walk your dog and have a nice time - peaceful. The cleaners are very chatty and good.
G. J.
Beautiful garden in the heart of the city
K. H.
Beautiful park and gardens in the heart of the City. Lovely cafe open near the main entrance. Shame the aviary isn't more of a feature - although this may be temporary at time of visit. Lovely walks and places to sit and rest or picnic.
C. O.
Beautiful historical open area. Lots of benches and open shaded areas for relaxing. Ducks to feed and paths for kids and adults to ride bikes or take a walk ..Enough space for families to have a fun day without getting in anyone's way.
S. F. C.
Nice place to relax. Has a free drinks fountain if you need it, which was needed!
j. h.
I live here!!! It's like my back garden because I'm just across the road so I'm always there just walking around to clear my head or just be surounded by green for a change...
It would be lots better if there was toilets not of into the bushes but never mind... I think they should have a bag dispenser so ppl can put rubbish I. The bins the excuse I've heard the most is not got a bag to put it in!!! Asking someone to do more than 1 trip to the bin is met with silence..
Well
C. P.
a beautiful restful gardens with memorials avairy pond bandstand and open space. generally not over populated unless its when the students are there it's a lovely place
D. A.
A very nice and relaxing day, just strolling around the park. Not much to see and do, but if you are a lover of nature, just relaxing and viewing the beauty of this place, is a day well spent. Well kept, I might add. Nice place for a picnic.
ا. ي.
Fabulous
A. F.
Lovely park in the city centre. Gets a bit crowded on sunny days but its to be expected as there is so many students in the area without their own gardens.
S. H.
Attended the socially distanced Music in the Park festivals here during the summer. Nice and relaxed vibe with some surprisingly good artists playing. Recommended and hope they come back next year.
a. k.
Does not have any working toilets
s. s.
Lovely place for events like the green festival. Well maintained. Lots of lovely plants and trees.
T. W.
Interesting history from mid 19th century. Lots of listed buildings. Not a big walk, very central to Nottingham city. No refreshment kiosk unfortunately. Very interesting tree history but plates with names on would help identify some unusual ones. Worth an hour or so.
D. P.
Lovely quiet place for reflection. Unless it's sunny.
e.
A lovely place where you can wander or sit reading a book for hours. It's nice to pop into and have a walk when the town centre is really busy.
Lots of wildlife and places to explore, personally one of my favourite places in Nottingham
k. H.
Beautiful field, loads of things to do, can play hide and seek and run around with the little ones. There birds and ducks. I live this place
S. P.
Beautiful place for a casual walk & picknick on the grass & Free.
L. W.
If you want nature, here it is. With a small cafe just to the entrance of The Arboretum, it is the ideal place to go if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Luckily enough there is plenty of seating available around the park and is never a disappointment when you return. Just a short walk from NTU, it is also one of the best places to take photographs and be at one with nature.
T. D.
Nottingham Arboretum is a lovely park only a few minutes, walking, from the city centre. Built in a basin of three slopes. Lots of fauna, flora and, of course, trees of numerous varieties. An ornamental bandstand, duckpond, and now: very good café in the old wardens lodge. A nice couple of hours for all ages. Highly recommended.
j. s.
Lovely peaceful place. I've been going there for 65 years so it must be good. A lake a park this size.with ducks and an avory complete the pleasure. There is a small cafe in what used to be the toilet block serving snacks and coffee where well behaved dogs are welcome.
The one big problem is, there are NO toilets, unbelievable for a park this size. Nottingham City Council take note.
S. M.
I have always liked in here. Great place to walk around with your family, friends or partner and much to explore.
Have different areas within the park such as the Chinese cannon, the totem statues, the band stand and much more. It holds a great ambience itself. Great views with evergrowing trees and colourful flowers throughout the park. Some of the flowers are in the shape of art and of beautiful designs.
There is a nice small pond where often you will found ducks which people like to feed and interact with. Alongside these ducks there are large cages which has different birds in for people to see which is next door to a café where you could get a bite to eat and plenty of seating areas for people to seat if they wish too.
Sometimes there are a few events happening here which people go to and perfect place to chill with a picnic or just to relax and enjoy the calming sound of nature.
p. b.
Lovely park, kinda beautiful especially during autumn... squirrels are not shy at all and they'll probably pose for you if you got some nuts x
N. T.
Nice park, great place to go and chill in the middle of the city. Highly recommend if you have time to kill.
B. B.
Went to Paganpride, a free day , at this amazing park. Couldn't believe how well organised this family day out was, and no charge.
The park itself was a little hidden gem a of natural beauty. Mature trees to shade under, and huge green spaces to play or picnic. I'm not sure if there was any public toilets, but will check this out when I go again
B. T.
Lovely walk on a sunny cool morning in Feb be nice when all the daffodils and crocus are out probably about another 10 days
2 weeks ago there was 2 inch of ice on the lake
E. J.
Real gem of a park right in the city centre. Great for everyone. You get the occasional drunk but don't let this put you off going and enjoying this great green space. Has a cafe at the main entrance, but I have not use this as yet.
F. H.
Pure bliss. The best park I have had the joy of living so close to. Not a park with a playground for children playing , more for the long stroll. it doss home an aray of beautiful budgies and ducks.
L. H.
Well maintained public gardens. Lovely for a sit and ponder
A.
Super relaxing retreat hidden away near the city centre. Would love to have a play park for kids added. Lake needs a little bit of care and the bird enclosures need work/ bringing up to spec.
B.
Beautiful area near the centre and a lovely place to walk around and eat lunch that is a little less intense as the city.
Z. E.
Lovely big park, great for a walk & picnics.
R. H.
I love the arboretum park. It is very well kept and is such a relaxing place to go. Wonderful cherry blossoms and rhododendrons in bloom from mid to late April see them at their best around then.
S. B.
Beautiful open green space. Well kept grounds. Lovely park. Great for a walk or a picnic.
M. A.
The Arboretum is a lovely city centre park with tonnes of history, features and events. We have enjoyed everything from brass band season, to the green festival, to a casual wander past the aviary to see the birds.
A. M.
A brilliant city park with a lake, bird aviary, lots of flowers and sculptures. Beautiful place to relax.
T. B.
Great way to take a break from the busy city and streets of Nottingham to take in some nature. The park is decently sized with a lake and open areas or benches to relax and is open until 8pm
J.
Good ambiance. Excellent food and very friendly service. Will return soon.
S. “. B.
In the middle of a major city, in the heart of Student land, is Nottingham's Arboretum.
In summer, a haven for young people with frisbees. In winter, quieter than Superman's fortress of solitude.
It is 5 minutes from my home and is one of the nicest places I've ever been.
C. H.
Lovely relaxing place with plenty of shade
in this Mega hot weather . Went with a 13 year old ( and we all know how lucky they can be ) she loved it !!! Had a picnic lunch on a bench under a big shady tree then spent a couple of hours just wandering . Brilliant.
R. D.
Really nice place to chill out except for the ignorant people who leave their empty beer cans and other rubbish lying around even though there are plenty of rubbish bins to put them in. Would give 5 stars if it wasn't for that. Some people have no pride or respect for themselves or surroundings.
J. B.
Love this park so relaxed and lovely ... friendly people and a good place to spend time alone to think and do stuff. .
K. M.
Beautiful, clean, sunny and full of planted flowers. Just birds could have more light in their cages
S. g.
It's a Fantastic and lively place ! Worth visiting
A. K.
Great park. Visited in the summer lots of open spaces to relax, picnic, etc. Also has a play area. However, arboretum is a bit of a stretch, pretty park with a variety of trees would be better description.
N. T.
Great free band concert today and each month in the summer, today with Matlock band. Nottingham's first public park, a Victorian masterpiece and still a great space to be in. Good paths, reasonable facilities and a lovely little cafe at the bottom gate who off a 50p discount on hot drunks if you bring your own disposable cup
L. K.
Beautiful tranquil relaxing! My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in nottingham. The park was so clean tidy and inviting. Plenty of friendly squirrels.😊
J. S.
Best recreation spot around! Really well-taken care of park with great atmosphere. I love to go for a walk here or to read. But the poor birds in the cages should get set free.
D. E.
A bit of a small park but its a great place to walk the dogs or take the kids because it has a duck pond and has birds that you can look at there
n.
very pretty place, full of nice trees. I recommend going in autumn
J. P.
A truly tranquil and beautiful place. My parents used to take my siblings and myself there when we were younger. Brings back great memories of sunny, happy days and family picnics.
J. Y.
Beautiful area 5 minz walk outside the city centre and just off the tramline! Duck pond aviary millions of trees including two of my favourite, The Indian bean tree! U must visit, in the summer, look for the Dahlia wall! Amazing!
E. B.
A Refugium in the heart of the City a paradise for people Who love squirrels. Unfortunately there are a lot of canabis smokers. It is redicioulous against schildern. A lot of Students but not thinking people. The plastic Birds nobody needs top. But a very nice place to relac
M. C.
A great park for hanging out, only a few minutes walk from Nottingham Trent University. It holds great festivals like Green Fest and an amazing range of birds and plants. In the summer it can get pretty crowded with students studying and playing games so maybe don't visit during the day with small children. It has many paths and is quite accessible for wheel chairs especially as there are nice places to sit right next to the paths. It is a 10 minutes walk from the centre of town and very close to the Nottingham Trent University tram stop.
n.
Love this place great in summer and spring, little one is really into looking at the parrots and chasing the pigeons. Quite big place to have a nice walk or sit down for a picknick.
S. P.
Nice place for visit with family
It was a green day festival so much fun food and nice atmosphere
E. O.
Lovely place to go in your own, as a couple or a family. Scenic, peaceful and great wildlife. No parking nearby but free to enter
P. F. (.
Nice little walk through park. Not fun for kids but nice for a picnic if you can find a nice spot. Forest park is a short walk away and better
j. p.
Nice place to relax especially during summer. Very close to city centre. Has lots of unusual trees, a large duck pond and a very lively aviary with lots of budgerigars. Closes at dusk
a. r.
Lovely park. Has a duck pond and aviaries. Always full of students, but there's lots of different areas to go sit or walk around. Shame it closes in the evening.
J. J.
Could do with more veriety of birds in aviary.lovely place to walk round.the grounds staff very helpfull
M. B.
Beautiful park. Take some nuts the squirrels are so tame they come and take them out if your hand
A. G.
Good Park. My lady loves it
D. S.
It's a nice place n we'll looked after by the groundsmen the plants and trees are all nice n floral in summer, there's also canaries n parrots n a few other species in cages located on there and also there's a duck pond with mallards n Moor hens, all in all nice place and gardens
N. I.
A great place to hang out with your friends, whilst you're training for sports or just chilling out. Also, weekdays are the best days to go, hardly anyone there.
Y. B.
To me a place is good if it's clean and has lots of friendly squirrels. Nottingham arboretum complies with my ranking requirements 😊👍
J. H.
Just beautiful. Well maintained and very colourful. A great example of a Victorian Park layout . Plenty of grass for laying out on in the sun!
D. B.
Lovely place to walk, even open Christmas day. Very calming. Has some special birds in cages too and a lake with a fountain
d. B.
Loved it good walk
M. L.
Not much here really, but it is a pleasant alternative to walking along the adjacent road. There's a pond and some ducks, as well as a slightly out of place aviary. The best things I saw here were some exhibitions during the Nottingham Festival of Light.
p. j.
Lovely place to walk through any time of the year.
O.
Beautiful park with singing birds, feeding ducks, trees, life music, flower gardens and many more. In walking distance from Nottingham city centre.
A.
Beautiful trees, a bit of peace in a big city
S. D.
A great place for all ages of the family. Easy to reach via car, bus or tram. A peaceful place to spend that lazy day in the sunshine, pkay with the children or take your do for a walk.
P. M.
A wonderful picnic park with over 800 tree species and flowers conspicuously grown to add a cool soothing beauty in this place.
Good for getaways and family outings.
S.
Lovely place. If your going to visit I'd recommend half six in the morning. It's like a little piece of peace and quiet in the middle of the city
P. B.
Perfect place if you want to do a run or just to relax also better during summer, full of trees and animals it's a perfect place also for a walk with you're child i go often there just to read or to listen some music
S. K.
A beauty within the heart of Nottingham
L. W.
It's a lovely place to walk within the city. It takes you away from the chaos of the surrounding city during business times. I like to come here and capture the moment whether that be with or without camera.
R. C.
It's a nice park to walk around.
S. H.
Lovely place for a quiet walk.
P. R.
Lovely park. First time going and I will be exploring again soon. Great spot for a picnic.
e.
A small cultivated quiet natural park that serves well as a place to get away from the usual noise of the city.
M. K.
Nice & peaceful place 2 chill out. 😊😊
D. K.
This place is a great place to chill, it's also the site of Pagan Pride every August and now has an awesome cafe. Occasionally, the Arb is frequented by people drinking alcohol, but they tend to be harmless.
A. S.
We had a fun afternoon at the Arboretum, where there is a permanent orienteering course. The park is well maintained, with a large amount of interesting plant's and tree's.
L. N.
Amazing gig venue, decent drinks selection and prices, felt very safe covid wise.
D. B.
Quite a pretty arboretum, slightly spoiled by the number of apparently rough sleepers
P. N.
A great place for a stroll. A bit hilly, but nothing too strenuous. Easily accessible on the tram.
D. T.
This is a beautiful and peaceful place to spend time, watching the wildlife and walking through the Arboretum looking at the various flora that has been growing in this park since 1853. A true gem of Nottingham.
T. E.
Close to the city centre and university. Seventeen acres and nine grade II listed buildings. Entrance is on tramline. Has a small lake and aviary, also has a good cafe.
M. D. G.
Nice place to escape the noise in town and enjoy nature and a bit of quietness 😏
B. S.
It's a nice park with small walking time from tram stop. Close quite early but could be worse.
You can find many types of birds there some of them in cages some of them roam free. People usualy go there to feed the birds, they are quite used to people. Sometimes you can even pat their head.
The upper part of the Arboretum has a cosy monumemt and small park with many flowers. Ideal place for picnick and date for couples.
Not far from the Arboretum there is a Sainsburry's to grab some snack.
E.
Largely a good place to visit although sometimes can be a bit confusing to get around. I very much enjoy the small pond and the bird cages which are very scenic
C. L.
It's within walking distance from town and the park grounds are well looked after. Not Ideal for BBQing
S. 1.
Hreat place for a walk or a wonder. In summer the park is a fusion of colours. In Autumn there are shades of green & browns. There is a tree at the main enterance that in Autumn sheds it's leaves like a shower of rain. I have only watched it once about threes years ago. There us a new cafe at the main enterance if you wont a coffee.
J. S.
Beautiful, well kept park. A peaceful green space amidst a jungle of brick and concrete
S. D.
Would have given this lovely park which is the only nice green space in the city five stars, but last time I was here I was walking along and fell flat on my face and the experience was frankly humiliating.
A. C.
Walked through arboretum after going to town, walked back to tram car park. Stunning grown beautiful flowers pleasure walking through.
C. H.
Very pretty trees from all over the world, litter free and dog friendly, even the cafe provides a doggy water bowl.
A. M.
The Arboretum is always a wonderful place to visit, lots of grassy knolls, places to sit and have picnics and a lovely lake.
J. G.
Haven't visited Arboretum in Nottingham for ages. Enjoyed the walk round the tree's looked fantastic with orange and gold leaves. There is now a café and had a hot chocolate before we left.
L. T.
Lovely peaceful walk, well looked after and lovely sites to see.
G. L. G.
One of Nottinghams many jewels. Beautiful...
J. P.
Great sunset gig even if the weather wasn't great the atmosphere was, well run and set up
M. C.
Fantastic green space in the centre of Nottingham. Only ruined by the amount of dope-smoking by students. I had to stop off on the way home to buy Scooby Snacks™
m. e.
Excellent - I go every year for pagan pride which is brilliant. I've never been any other time so can't really comment, however it is a beautiful place and the trees are amazing
N. P.
Lovely relaxing park in the heart of the city. Beautifully maintained.
D. M.
Great shows by Tony Hadley and The Bootleg Beatles!!!However expensive tickets to sit outside on fold-up chairs for 75 mins of main act!!
E. H.
A pleasant enough park to walk around but very few labels to tell what everything is and parts are not so well kept. Some nice blossoms in spring.
M. C. C.
Beautiful grounds with beautiful greenery, walking paths, beautiful trees and shrubbery, love it....
Л. П.
Quiet place which is attractive and luring all over the year. In spring it is romantic and flowering, in summer it is in green, in autumn it is in gold and red. Great! Must see.

D. W.
A beautiful city park, with a large variety of trees and different areas. A very pleasant place to spend a couple of hours on a sunny afternoon.
P. p. N. B.
Nice place to visit however the gate's should remain open cos I've been locked in there a couple of times now as the times seem to change for lock up ... Why lock it anyway it's not like there is anything to steal it's only a park .
B. R.
Characterful old park with plenty of nooks, crannies, trees, borders, and items of interest. Good place for a walk; better place for a walk with a dog.
D. D. (.
Great place to wind down and relax. Excellent for a stroll, followed by a picnic. Plenty of space to find your own secret plot.
M. S.
Taken too many traditional features of the park away for my liking but having said that you would have to be Nottingham born and bred to know that!!
V. H.
Really nice place if sunny even better nice walks and views you can take loverly stroll with the dog or family
f. a.

P. G.
Good park for a rest:)
M. C.
Lovely park right near the centre of Nottingham. The bird cages look a bit run down and I'm sure the birds could be better kept elsewhere. Is it time for them to go?
M. M.
Nottingham Arboretum dates back to the middle of the 19th century and indeed commemorates MP Fergus O'Connor (of Chartism fame) with a statue. An initial promenade from Nth Sherwood St. winds westwards towards the main entrance on Addison St., tunneling under the road and meeting the footpaths further in. The main slope from there is southwestwards towards the main entrance on Waverley Street, next to Waverley House (Trent Uni art dept.). On the way are side aisles of trees, the war memorial section commemorating conflicts in Russia and China, a play area, a toilet block, floral displays, and the bandstand and seating surrounds. At the very bottom a sizeable pond with fountain, fish and reeds, a sad aviary, and a newly-opened cafe in a renovated building by the gate. Once a haven for drug dealers and ne'er-do-wells the Arbo is currently revived and a popular destination for joggers, strollers, prams and those gasping for greenness and fresh air in the inner city. I just wish they didn't keep those poor birds in those vapid cages.
G. B.
Wish it was a bit bigger and more varied but alas it is still a very good city park.
A. S.
We had a lovely walk through the arboretum park in Nottingham such a lovely day on Tuesday and at the end there is a nice cafe to have drinks and maybe a small snack.
